One thing I've learned is that Nigerians don't like to be told what to do!
I personally believe god helps those who take the action to assist themselves. The situation in Niger Is like praying to win the lottery and not buying a lottery ticket.
Y'll think ur leaders will wake up and decide to stop looting,..,?Never!
So why not remove them?


But one other thing that's holding you back is the internal division. Nigeria can get better. This is like asking if leaders are born. The answer is no they are not born,they're made.

Nigeria needs enthusiastic and passionate young people who can unite and fight for better leadership and unity for the country.

You have so so many graduates ... I don't understand what's holding y'll back.

Behavior can be changed, the people need to remain positive to keep going.

Mobilize yourselves and be the change you want to see. Be a leader, start the movement. Your people are so smart and so bright... You need to build the courage to do something about the future.

Many do nor know, but during the 70s and 80s South Africa was struggling in the economic department, the only reason why it did not look like it was because the country only looked after the white minority. Has it stands we are the biggest power on the block. We refine more crude oil than Nigeria and we do not even have oil in the country SASSOL not counting.

I don't understand why people don't place all this energy in creating something positive for the future of Nigeria instead of this tribe/nationality bashing that goes on here. No matter what y'll say about other countries the fact of the matter is that the people there are happy, they can remain in their homelands and they're children can get the best of everything if the parents can provide for it.
The other thing is the fact that SA is a diverse country and the country has embraced that diversity,infact the government has played a huge role of encouraging south africans to accept each other as different tribes but one nation. Perhaps you should do your research about that and try to implement that in your country since tribal bashing is so HUGE there.

On the other hand Nigerians often go abroad for better access to a lot of things. My point is if your generation could make a change then your children could have a better future in they're own homeland. But I guess that's what keeps me coming back to this site... To see how we Africans think... We constantly want to attack each other... I guess it makes some of us feel better about our own problems. Hope this will make you feel better about everything.

Sad but true. And the sad thing is I wonder who we are awaiting for to deal with our problems as a country. Everyone just complaints or runs away... I guess we are awaiting for the Messiah too.

somegirl: Segun111, I guess it depends on your own age. If you are in your 40s than marrying an older lady will probably mean no or only few children. However, if you are in your 20s and your girl is just a few months or years older (e.g. you're 23 and she's 25), then you still can have plenty of children, abi?

You notice that you are quite lucky? Because you can wait until "old" age to have children and enjoy life first or work on your career. That's because a man still can father children in his 60s. A woman, on the other hand, must usually start getting children early (earlier than a man) or have only few or none.

Anyway, I think it is not good to wait with having children until one is "old". That's because I would want to see my children grow and spend some time with the grandchildren as well. However, if I am already 45 when I get my first child, I might be dead by the time s/he gets his/her first child (especially if you got a son).

And I also look at it from the side of the child. My grandparents are in their 70s and I am afraid that they will die (they just discovered that the cancer of my grandma is coming back after about ten years). They are my grandparents and I love them deeply. If --- no, WHEN they will die, it will be hard on me. Loosing a parent must be even harder than that. Therefore, I think it is better to have children RELATIVELY early, like late 20s or early 30s.

I know other people have children even earlier than that but it would not have suited me. I'm still much in the process of growing up myself and also don't have a stable income or place to live. So, I'm thinking of having them in my early 30s (by then I should be through with school, have worked one or two years --- mhm, seems rather like it's going to be MID 30s and then I'll discover what it means when a couple "tries to have a baby" and the guy (if I have one by then) will leave me after a few years for a younger woman who is more likely to give him a child?

Can we please take into account the fact that DSTV is a luxury service and not a necessity . If its too high for you then you may not be able to afford it, why not go for something cheaper like Mytv,HiTv,CTL or Star TV they're subscription was N1000 more or less .

Apparently Nigeria has the lowest subscription rate in Africa. In Kenya, a customer pays Sh10, 000 (about N18, 354) for six-month access subscription fee for DStv channels. This includes 35 channels, a satellite dish, a decoder, a smart card and a cable. DStv in that country has four content packages – premium, which goes for Sh6,350 (about N11,665) per month; compact plus - Sh4,000 (about N7,346); compact - Sh2,350 (about N4,315) and family, which costs Sh1,700 (about N3,122) per month.

In South Africa DStv premium goes for R559 (about N12, 397) while compact goes for R260 (about N5, 456).

But from April 1st it'll change to :

(from April 1st), subscribers to the High Definition, HD, Premium will now pay N12,400 up from N11,300. Subscribers to Premium Bouquet will pay N10,300 as against the previous N9,500. Subscribers on DStv Compact will pay N4,800 as against the previous N4,500, while Compact Plus subscribers will pay N7,000 from a previous N6,800. Those on DStv Family will pay a monthly fee of N2,800, up from N2,500. However, there is no increase in the N1,500 price of DStv Access bouquet.

I totally understand you. At times I get the impression that some really frustrated people use this forum to deal with they're personal frustrations you know... Like they have self confidence issues and perhaps being a biatch to everyone else makes them feel better... Some People are empty inside and things like this keep them going. So I guess we should understand that people are different..and @ the end of the day everyone is entitled to their own opinion...no matter how wicked it may be.
