I agree with u about deeper Life preaching Holyness,

but what am trying to pass across is that no one is more perfect, deeper life watch word is holyness without been holy u can not see the kingdom of God.

they don't draw the sinners more nearer to them they rather scare them, what i mean is that, they don't really take their time for this sinful ones. even though u are puting on this their big blouse and u are not born again, u are already sister or bro.

Q1) Is it the Deeper Life that said "Without Holiness, no man shall see the Lord"? NO.
Answer) The Bible said so.

Q2) What then should be the Messages of all Churches?
Answer) Without Holiness, No man shall see the Lord.

Q3) What do we say of Churches that dont believe and preach Holiness?
answer) They arent obeying the complete revealed will of God.

Q4) Are people naturally drawn to truth?
answer) NO.
No one sits a child down and teaches him/her how to tell lies. Mothers dont teach their children to say they didnt do it, when they did it. Its human nature to sin. Thats why the Bible says "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me"

So therefore and naturally, no one will run towards a serious BIBLE-PREACHING-100% TRUTH church.

See, Jesus "sought" to draw all men to Himself, but the truth is all of man were not drawn to Him, since then and till today. The people He came to save SLEW despised Him, hated him. THe pharisees, Saducees "who knew the Law" and "knew not the God of the Law" could not understand.

Q) Would it be right to say that "Jesus scared away the Pharisees and Saducees?"
Yes, it will be right to say so, from the point of view that He scared them away with His purity, with His Love, with His message of Salvation, with the Truth He preached, with the Good deeds He did - why? because the Pharisees and Saducees were hardened and not ready to change.

TRUTH DOESNT ALWAYS ATTRACT PEOPLE. IT REPELS.

NO, it will be wrong to say that Jesus "scared" them away, because he never used drove them away from Himself, in fact, these Pharisees and Saducees came around, listened to Him and all they tried to do was find fault with His message.

Lastly:
Not every student is really interested in going to school. A comparison made in Nigeria goes like this: that for some University graduates,
- that they passed-through the University,

while for others,
- that the University passed through them.

Among the many serious church goers today, there are a whole lot of fakers. Its not every Christian on paper that is a true Christian. Some are just playing-church because they have no other thing to do. They cant go forward, neither can they turn about-face.

Yes, its a great possibility that there are/might be many dressing like a DLBC member, but deep down, they are not born again. Is it the fault of the Church or the fault of the person. Why should you wear the Uniform of a Secondary school if you are not a bonafide student of that school? perhaps, they just want to belong. Now, can we make a general statement just because of the few goats amont the sheep? NO.

At the end of the day, will God ask anyone of us the name of your Church? NO.
The question will be what each one did with the death of Jesus Christ.

is this about CAREER SUCcESS or General success

99% hard work 1% luck

THE 1% luck is very very important!!

Yes, this is the truth.

THe 1% luck is the most important. Without that 1% luck, the 99% working hard wont have a face and skin. The 1% luck actually qualifies the hard-work.

"Before a fire occurs there's usually smoke." Might I ask that you explain the correlation that your metaphor has to my quote?

heres my answer:
you said that
Rape is not a crime of sex, but rather a crime of violence, so why should immodest (however one chooses to define it) mode of dress be of any consequence in it?

You are the person confusing yourself.

If rape is not a crime of sex but a crime of violence,
is there a crime of sex that has nothing to do with violence?

is there a passionate, pleasurable and approved crime of sex?

Religion / Re: Why Do Some People Preach Against Other Churches? by kimba(m): 11:50pm On Nov 08, 2006
@Ukor

O boy, try to smile sometimes,  grin

To answer your question:
Some Churches preach against other churches because they have nothing else to preach. These pastors and their members allow their emotion to override the truth of the word of God, and so in an attempt to bring people into their Churches, they, let me use the words: FIND FAULT WITH EVERYTHING done by other Churches. Please note that Constructive Critisism is different from plain and simple whatever-you-di-it-is-wrong criticism.

Its just like Nigerian politics. There are some politicians who have no other agenda but to find fault with other politicians, find fault with their actions and everything they try to do, hoping that this would make them(fault-finders) win the support and admiration of the people. Many stupid people also fall prey to them.

@Mazaje
mazaje:

this goes to show u that christianity is just a chain of fraud and confusion . they keep preaching against each other so that people will stop going to other churches and come to them so that the will recive more money in the form of offering to "GOD". u know the fastest way of making money in nigeria is through religion since politics and professionalism are not really paying off these days.
The problem is that we have so many people already and PERSONALLY DECEIVED AND WHO ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO DECEIVE THEM MORE AND MORE. You are wrong to say that Christianity is a chain of fraud and confusion.

CHRISTIANITY IS A WAY OF LIFE, and its unfortunate to say that there are a whole lot of genuine Christians and a whole lot of fakers too, just like saying Nigeria's reputation is destroyed because of its people, but that doesnt make it lesser than a country. Regardless of how many fake Christians and copy-cats out there, the BIBLE still holds and stands true, and regardless of whateva anyone says or does, each individual will STAND BEFORE GOD at the end of time and GIVE AN ACCOUNT OF HIMSELF OR HERSELF.

Even if there were to be just 1-true and abiding genuine Christian in the whole world, it doesnt change the BIBLE.

Another extreme is to say that since the Bible says that we should not judge, therefore, should I(for example) see error, I must not say anything about it. NO. 'TRUE' and 'FALSE' are 2-different words and mean two different things. 'RIGHT' and 'WRONG' are 2-different things. The fact that you are saying something is 'RIGHT' means you have judged in the first place. The same goes with your acknowlegement of wrong. So, if a pastor were to think it right to WARN his members of FALSE PROPHETS, an example, he might give an incident of the teaching of another Church, in all honesty, he hasnt done something wrong.

Take for example: the case of Pastor King of CPM or CPA(I forgot which one). He burnt a human being alive in the name of Church. I was still reading the story of the lady that was rescued - she says that she had been a servant in Pastor King's House and that she 'served' in the NUDE. Imagine subjected to living in the nude - walking around a house naked for 24-hours doing service for a holy man of God. She did not talk about sexual contact with the Pastor himself, but who knows, Definitely that is not Biblical and people have to be warned about it.  For many people, if you don't explain things to them in a hard way, they wont understand, so except you give them names, places, actions etc, they don't get the picture. For others, by just suggesting the idea gives them the full picture.

By the wya, theres a lot of deception in Nigeria.

chistiana:

@ ell7 i think u right but not with standing your catholic still claims they are more holy, but i wont judge here cause if if u guys tell me to start given credit i will give the fathers in Catholic church as the best womanizer but i necer mention branches i only know its catholic church oooo

And besaide no one is more holy even Deeper life church that claims they are more holy whats ends the non serious teenager, well don't let me talk much any way.

Do the Deeper Life Bible Church really claim that they are more Holy than anyone else? have you heard this from the Pastor himself, or its just hearsay? What I know is that THEY PREACH HOLINESS!! and perhaps try to emphasize and over-emphasize it in everything they talk about. But come to think about it: What is the Bible without Holiness? and what is the whole point of getting to Heaven? can you get to Heaven without Holiness?

Think about this: our grandparents didnt and never read/neither were exposed to as much Bible as we have today/exposed to, yet they lived better, healthier lives. They even lived longer. Is it because they were more Holy or because the world was less polluted then than now.

Religion / Re: Did God Create Satan On Purpose? by kimba(m): 11:27pm On Nov 08, 2006
Yes, God created Satan, but when God Created the "Satan" today, He did not create him as Satan-the bad guy.

How art thou fallen from heaven, O LUCIFER, son of the morning!" (Isa 14:12).

http://www.steliart.com/angelology_fallen_archangel.html
The name 'Lucifer, satan and devil' have become inter-changed and to refer to the same person, Lucifer, who was a great Archanger and prince, The Anointed Cherub who fell from heaven as a result of his opporision and adversity to God. Before his fall, he was one of the Ruling Princes, in the same rank with Angel Michael. From traditional theory and theology, Satan was the angel that betrayed and then led the revolt against God. They say he was very jealous of the love that God felt towards Adam. Either that he transformed himself to a snake or used the snake as a tool, satan summarily tempted Eve with the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. This is why even till today, snakes are treated as devlish. In fact, some people believe that snakes are Satan's re-incarnation.

God banished Satan form the Heavens. He banished him to Earth, but the working theory is that Hell is actually located within the Northern boundaries of the 3rd heaven. WIthin the 2nd Heaven, the fallen angels are imprisoned awaiting final judgment and in complete darkeness.

SO satan is on earth, walking between Heaven and Earth, staying on Earth(you go find where) and seeking to destroy the lives of Human beings and to keep them separated from God. Here on Earth, Satan is known as the devil

COnclusion: Satan/Lucifer/Devil/ whateva was not created as a bad guy. He chose to be.
In the same way, the bad people we have causing trouble for themselves in the world today, from terrorists to politicians, to the common man who does evil - is all as a result of what they chose to be.

Question: why doesnt God just force everyone to become Good. God can do it, but we won't be HUMAN anymore. We would be robots.
Education / Re: Why I Want To Study In China by kimba(m): 10:59pm On Nov 08, 2006
@Chimaze

Between China and the UK.

Nigerians usually like to study in the UK, coz its more like a gateway to Europe. China is the gateway to Asia. MBA in China, I would say go for it. Not because im a China man myself. A lot of Ibos are there and you would feel like you're in Nigeria. In fact, the number of Ibos there is so much that you might think everyone from Nigeria is Ibo. And there are many intermarriages too. Its only that Chinese-Ibo half-caste combinations are deadly because of the business acumen. And they usually inherit the Chinese eye-narrowness, which would make them look more Chinese should they be wearing a scarf. On the other hand, a Yoruba-Chinese combination would have eyes open like a normal Nigerian. God is wonderful o. THese guys should not become comedians, coz just the sight of them draws laughter. I would like to see a Calabar-Chinese who speeds with the calabar tsong-accent, if thats what they call it.

Oga Chimaze, I believe you know where all the electronics in Nigeria comes from, so after graduating, you might not even need to come back home. Perhaps, you might meet one of your nna cousins who might deputize you to manage his firm. Abi, butter don full ground be that o.

China is the next big thing. WIth a CHinese Education, the world is as open before you as that of a UK degree. I want to answer why CHinese come to Uk to study. The major reason is because of the English language. Prim and sec school in CHina is in the local language and if/once you understand English in CHina, its like you have overcome the world - even if your english could be classified as gau-gau in Nigeria. Its also a factor in landing good/high paying jobs. Even if you studied English in CHina, someone who studied the same English in the UK or some other English speaking country is rated "higher" than you in society and generally in the place of work. Besides, it gives them the opportunity to work in other China - surrounding countries as well.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Is There Acute Job Scarcity Or Are We Not Employable? by kimba(m): 10:08pm On Nov 08, 2006
@ poster,
@ topic,

There are so many evil spices that contribute to the fact that a lot of Nigerians(qualified and overqualified) are walking the streets with nothing to do. Hopefully I can enumerate some:

FIRST:
eolutosin:

Hi,
I am sure you are not the only one in this. You may need to read https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-29002.0.html. Meanwhile, I would like you to brace up for what lies ahead. I would like to tell you that jobs are available but very few people are available to fill the positions. What do I mean? The skills most employers are looking for can not be found around here. So, I would suggest that you should decide on the type of country you would like to work and start working on developing the necessary skills that will take you there. Very soon, your story will change. All the best in your job search.

Please kindly enumerate on :
The skills most employers are looking for can not be found around here.
Which skills are these? lack of education or which one.

Nigerians are the most educated ethnic group in the United States. Most of these peeps "have another degree besides their first degree" which makes them more marketable. (I think I posted the weblink to the above info somewhere on another forum). On a more serious note: the majority of them(Nigerians in America who contribute immensely to been the most educated ethnic group in America) completed their first degrees in Nigeria.

Are we saying that it is easier to get jobs in America than in Nigeria? NO. In fact, many times its harder, because of the THE-EDUCATIONAL-STANDARD-OF-YOUR-COUNTRY'S bruhaha. Still, those Nigerians are making everyone proud.

THE EXPATRIATE DILEMA: expats taking up jobs for which qualified Nigerians are available
I've observed that Nigerians always want to learn and that once you can keep a Nigerian employee always learning, doing new things everyday, he/she will be happy, basically its called CHALLENGES.

The problem ive observed is that the typical Nigerian BOSS, CEO, CTO or whoever owner of the company is looking for somebody that knows it all, someone who has all the professional experience and all the educational whateva(it happens everywhere),  and even though the Nigerians he sees around might know-it-all on paper, he doubts their professional know-how since they don't have the experience. Noting that the number of professionals is quite less than the number of young graduates pouring out of the Universities on a yearly basis, he resorts to employing expatriates, who would draw 5-6times a monthly salary as much as he would have paid a fresh grad who might stay in his company for 2-3years as long as new things are happening everyday.

I have no problem with expatriate employment, as long as the expatriate is very-much qualified for the job. I myself having been a foreigner for many years in another man's land and an expatriate too, I know the definition of very-much-qualified.

Very-much-qualified would mean you have a skill that is non-existent or for which there is an acute shortage of graduates and people skilled in the field. In many countries abroad, before you can even get the job, you must have been screened and some countries could be so tough(ex: China, Hongkong, Korea, Macau, Australia) to really insist that you cannot get the job except it is proven that there are no skilled/qualified indegenes who can do the same job. Fine, you would have applied and might wait for months, because the company would be mandated and re-mandated over and over again to advertize the job position over and over again, at least a month straight, and that should there be no other applicant, then you get the job. The truth is: while the job is been advertized, should there be an indegene applicant with one-fifth of the skills you have, they would give him/her the job, even if such has to be trained to acquire the skills (which you would have naturally brought into the job).

Its not the same here. Coming home, Ive come across a lot of foreigners who know next to nothing and who are in managerial positions, and this makes me to wonder what is happening. The situation above is common in companies owned and operated by foreigners in Nigeria - for which Nigeria has no say INPUT except that THAT YOU FOR INVESTING IN NIGERIA. The bad news is there is no government organization in Nigeria, no central body, no commission and no one in charge, that these foreign owned and operated companies have to answer to before they employ their own citizens(as expatriates) to fill job positions for which Nigeria has too many qualified people walking the streets.

Imagine this: I heard about a 24yr old foreigner, 2005 Business diploma(not B.Sc) holder,  who worked for a clerk for 8-months in his country(Lebanon) and now is working in Nigeria as an expatriate(earning dollars) as a Sales manager, managing Nigerian "sales executives" who have worked for 3-4years(without promotion) with proper University First degree qualifications, memberships of Professional bodies, ICAN etc, etc,. One of such who told me the story tells me that his manager could hardly understand English and that they(sales executives) usually have problems explaining "simple things" to him, even after been in Nigeria on the job. Why? he doesnt understand, the guy is still in mode-learning. He can't even use a computer proficiently. So I asked my friend: "WHO GAVE YOUR MANAGER A VISA TO NIGERIA? DIDNT THEY ASK FOR HIS CV AT THE NIGERIAN EMBASSY THERE?" The truth is: even if they asked for his CV, who were they to report the matter to?

Now tell me: Under what circumstances should a 2005 marketting grad come to Nigeria as an expatriate. I think someone should ask the question: WHAT DOES HE KNOW?

And is there anything that Nigerians cannot sell - even if we forget other areas.  A correct Ibo man or woman will market anything, which is a natural skill.  This is not the first of such stories I will hear. There are hundreds of these foreigners pouring into Nigeria on a weekly basis, FYI making salaries they couldn't dream of making in their countries on a monthly basis.

Is there any reciprocity/bilateral and mandatory agreement,  whatever between Nigeria and these countries/foreign owned companies to make sure that since Nigeria offers these expats these JOBS(for which they are earning higher compared to what they earned in their own country), THEREFORE Nigerians should be given work opportunities in such a country, under the same set of circumstances and for the same requirements that these foreigners get jobs here? NO.

We are more in need of INVESTMENTS and we have thrown away all caution to the wind and allowed our heads to be trampled upon. This doesnt mean that the countries involved will grant Nigerians visas to go on business trips - if we are talking of genuine ones.

Is there any LAW mandating these companies to employ Nigerians? not just as cleaners and STAFF-without portfolio, but into Mandatory Management positions? NONE.  Even Mike Adenuga told his staff that there is no law binding him to employ Nigerians to work for him, and that he's doing Nigerians "JUST A FAVOR".  The number of expats in the country is increasing day by day and with such a trend continuing, it will soon get explosive. Who is doing something about it? Tell me,

Lets turn the tables around and ask if its possible for a Nigerian "mogul" to go set up a company abroad and be exporting Nigerians(without qualifications) to fill Managerial positions in his foreign based company(just because they are home-boy Nigerians)? The answer is NO, because the constution of those countries will mark his(business man) every move, every salary paid and to whom/how it is paid. This is just one of the problems.

Note: im not saying all expats are unqualified for their jobs. What im saying is: Let Nigerians be given first consideration where applicable. That is how it is around the world.

TIWAN TIWAN SYSTEM
Even though less and less of tribal marks are seen on the faces of Nigerians of the 20th century, i think the tribalism that still exists deep within the heart is too alarming. In some banks, you can immediately smell the ethnicity of the staff. Usually, the majority of them will be speaking one language. On the other hand, take out a department for example and look at its HEAD and staff. Many times, you find out that should their be a vacancy in that department, the HEAD would be more interested in one-of-our-own and would rather tell her TEAM to go scout for anyone they know to come and apply for the job. Definitely it becomes a call-your-relatives(forget whether they are suited for the job or not) idea. So those who don't have relatives continue walking the street.

SELF and NATIONAL- INVESTMENTS
The attitude whereby everyone is looking for quick and immediate money is ruining so many things. First, people don't invest in themselves. I know people who havent made any professional advancement for the past 3-4 working years. Its more like they just sit there, collecting salary, and waiting for every friday, when they can show the latest fashion in their place of work. The result: in the next 5-years when technology washes over, they are left in the past.

Forget about the fact that there are so many research institutions littering the country. The question is what are they doing. Something doesnt need to exist if we can't see its impact. Fine, so we say there is no funding from the government etc. So why will there be funding from the government if these institutions havent done anything tangible with the past allocations they've had so far. They wont be given any more funding if they havent achieved anything in investments in them of the past. The problem is actually 2-fold. First: the gov'ts lack of fund and then the lack of output of the funded Institution/parastatal or whateva. I once visited the library of the NMC(National Mathematical Center). I think that was in 2004. Ancient books and manuals were all I saw. To say it was a SHAME would mean that im just been kind. If the govt can't fund its research institutions, how can they achieve something tangible? thats the question. Then if they are funded and nothing tangible is achieved, why should they be re-funded. Who/where are the Leadership. Are they qualified for the job? what are they doing? if they are not performing, can they be replaced? Its more of a needed round-table discussion, its more of the need for strong leadership, not just the sme-sme appointments that we have going on.

ENTERPRENEURSHIP
I think Nigerians should be looking for what to do for themselves. The fact that the govt has failed and is failing is not good news and we can't just continue like this. Enterprenurship is more than "let me go into this business that everybody is going into". It takes dedication, commitment and a nack for setting goals and achieving them. The great companies that we see today were all as a result of individual effort. Many of them are not govt establishments.

The days of being a proud Nigerian Civil servant are over. You work for the government and you wont get your pension or gratuity. No hope, its total shame. After 30years of working for the Nigerian government, you would have to line up in front of Civil Service Commission because the hard-disk of the SERVER crashed and therefore a TOTAL REVERIFICATION has to be done in Abuja. The problem is that the HARD-DISK OF THIS SERVER crashes every 6-months because NEPA TOOK LIGHT WHILE THE SERVER WAS RUNNING and while thousands of pensioners travel to Abuja for reverification, some die on the way, others have accidents and a whole lot of them sleep at the Eagle's square because they have no relatives in Abuja. Then the pension planners come with their micro-phones and start the Let-us-help-you seminar. If you want to be helped, you go line up in front of the Pension office, and then the next church prayer request will be PLEASE HELP ME PRAY ABOUT THE PROCESSING OF MY PENSION. Soon the pastor begins to cast out the PROCESSING SPIRITS and begins to bind and loose the spirit of the devil in the life of the staff of the civil service and the pension commission. Can I continue? This kind of scenario is the reason why there is a spirit behind everything in Nigeria. Some people can talk so convincely about it that you might be roughed up if you are not careful.

The pension planners and marketters today with all their sweet packages and promises, might declare bankruptcy in the next 30-40years when the present young generation might be looking into retirement.  Then we start another series of STORIES.  Banks have just consolidated. Can they produce records of transactions of a random client for the past 5-years? NO. Not even Zenith Bank can try it. In between the crashes of computers and damages of equipments, valuable data is lost. How much more pension managers/management whose future is uncertain.

just as the saying goes: everything-just-get-as-it-be!!!

Title: The Strength of a Man

The strength of a man
isn't seen in the width of his shoulders.
It's seen in the width of his arms that circle you

The strength of a man
isn't in the deep tone of his voice.
It is in the gentle words he whispers.

The strength of a man
isn't how many buddies he has.
It's how good a buddy he is with his or your children.

The strength of a man
isn't in how respected he is at work.
It's in how he is respected at home.

The strength of a man
isn't in how hard he hits.
It's in how tender he touches.

The strength of a man
isn't in how many women he's loved.
It's in how true he can be to the ONE woman he's trying to
love.

The strength of a man
isn't in the weight he can lift.
It's in the burdens he can carry.

Religion / Re: Do White People Take Christianity As Seriously As We Do? by kimba(m): 11:57pm On Nov 04, 2006
@Sista

You are seriously confused.
The whole idea of Christianity was to lead the sheep to the wolves. White people were the wolves posing as the shepherd. Now that we worship white Jesus, we are also worshipping white people, this is the reason why white people are the richest people on this planet. We worship them through the religion they gave us. That was the only reason why they introduced their version of Christianity to us was to spiritually enslave us. What is spiritual enslavement? Spiritual enslavement is when you enemy becomes your deity. You can't conquer your white enemy if in your mind ultimately Jesus is white making white people the so called chosen ones of God.

And how many of you are WORSHIPPING A WHITE JESUS?

I dont WORSHIP A WHITE JESUS. God has no color, if you read your Bible very well.

And maybe if you read your Bible very well, deeper than what your pastor read for you, the idea of Jesus being white and black would have erased out of your mind. Hope you are not racist.

Example: America
GEORGE BUSH CANNOT STAND AND SAY THAT AMERICA IS WHAT IT IS TODAY BECAUSE OF THE WHITE AMERICANS. If you remove the BLACKS from their, it ceases to be America. Forget the slave trade. Talk about what America is as a nation, in all its arials, culture, power, intelligence, resources, everything. Not only the blacks, think of other cultural mixes. The IQ of a black baby is normally higher than that of a white baby if both are born under the same normal equal conditions. That has been proven a long time ago. How many babies are born under normal conditions in Africa? is it because of the white man? Can't we make the conditions RIGHT? Dont we have the know-how.

A survery I read sometime ago says "Nigerians are the most educated ethnic groups in America, that an average Nigerian has another Univ. Certificate / Practicable profession other than his B.Sc". Now there are thousands of more Nigerians who want to run away from Nigeria tomorrow morning if given the opportunity.

U mentioned about why white people are the richest on the planet: here: they are the richest because they use their brain, no matter how little it is. In Africa, we use our brains for the wrong stuff - totally for the wrong stuff. See, while Bill Gates was reasoning how to write computer programs, thinking about algorithms here and there, a Nigerian was trying to figure out the 419 puzzle. Do you think it is easy just to sit down and dupe someone (without any references of a former act - think of the first attempt of whoever the idea started from), plan everything, put things in place - all the lies and the stories. I was reading up on a site that its one of the greatest ideas of the past 100years. In fact, the commentator estimated the IQ of the originator of that idea to be in the genius level. He wasnt making any fun of it. The article was on something to make computers obtain information from each other, for example: a computer(the lier) wants to obtain some information from another computer, and this lier(computer) would have in store answers, all the possible questions/queries it might be probed for and it can generate more and more, until it gets what it wants - more like a chess game where there is a solution for every move.

Another reason is that we love quick results, a tree planted today that will grow tomorrow. Is this possible? The word "LONG TERM" is not in our dictionary. Go to S. Korea and you'll find Fiber Optic cables already laid underneath refuse dumps. All that needs to be done is for the piece of land to be cleared and you erect your house and then call a technician to get you connected. Who laid those cables? well, maybe they are long dead by now or at least old, not enjoying the "Technology".

The always Perpendicular roads in America were not planned by the present day hip-hopper Americans. Americans who lived ages ago planned it for security purposes. Are they enjoying it now? NO, coz the are passed away. In Africa/Nigeria, is it common to see people doing things for the future generations? NO. We do only what will profit us in our own-life-time. There are no plans for the next 50-100 years while we would have passed away, and then we'll complain that the white man is richer than we are.

The reason for the above is that we dont commend good things. Its common to hear the saying "You are on your own". The president is on his own and im on my own. The man on the street is on his own and im on my own. Thats the problem. Suppose, I do anything good, even out of personal sacrifice, the fact that im on my own, either in success or failure would not propel me to give it a try in the first place. Lack of trial is not so much different from failure.

If you don't believe me that black people believe that Jesus hence God is white, put it to a test. Ask you young children what color is God or Jesus. Ask any young black child this question. They are going to tell you that he is white if you ask them why is he white, they are going to say "I don't know" or shrug their shoulders. The reason why they don't know why they believe Jesus or God is white, is because they have been indoctrinated and told through subliminals that Jesus or God is white. A child is not conscious to subliminal affects.

Fine, you cannot fault the CHildren. That is all they know, all they have seen, all they have heard, all they have been taught.

Tell me one thing SISTA, IS THE BIBLE BLACK OR WHITE, im not talking about the paper book now, im talking THE BIBLE - WHOLE PICTURE.

Are you a Christian?
Religion / Re: Do White People Take Christianity As Seriously As We Do? by kimba(m): 11:25pm On Nov 04, 2006
Can we(Nigeria) really say we are taking Christianity Seriously?

In my own point of view? NO.

ONE
Example: All the churches in Lagos alone(forget the rest of Nigeria) are more than all the Churches in Japan put together. Leave Japan and hop into Thailand. All you see is Buddha. Nothing else. Get to Vietnam and its another story. Go to the UK and its the oldies that you find in Church. Get to America and Yes theres a lot of Christianity, but a lot of unbelievers too(really way off in worse directions than the ones in Nigeria). South America is not too better. Talk about other countries where Christianity is not as pronounced as Nigeria.

If TAKING CHRISTIANITY SERIOUSLY was the major requirement for God's blessings, Nigeria will be #1. But see the conditions of these countries and compare with Nigeria. In the Bible, God blessed those that served him. Are we blessed? YES, perhaps because our fore-fathers took God seriously. In fact, over blessed, but now that the blessing is too much, we use the blessings and hurt and destroy ourselves and our own future generations.

TWO
The thing is not in "TAKING CHRISTIANITY SERIOUSLY". The ultimate is doing the right thing. "I AM A CHRISTIAN" - written on church-paper is different from "I AM A CHRISTIAN" - with my name written in Heaven.

WE TAKE CHRISTIANITY SERIOUSLY, BUT WE DONT TAKE GOD SERIOUSLY.
OBEYIING THE WHOLE WORD OF GOD is not the same as OBEYING THAT PART THAT I FEEL I CAN OBEY.

Imagine: someone leaves Church for home after Sunday service and an Okada man scratches his car(in the most negligible way) and the next thing, this BROTHER comes out of church and gets physical with an okada man. The question is: what did he hear in Church?

2Ki 17:32 So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

2Ki 17:33 They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.f

Think about the import of the statement: THEY FEARED THE LORD AND SERVED THEIR OWN GODS.
"THEY FEARED THE LORD" - This is what we can see
"THEY SERVED THEIR OWN GODS" - God sees this - deep into the heart of the individual.

Today, all we are doing is calling LORD LORD, but not doing what HE SAYS!!! What of the Pastors that Preach outright error and still people flock after them. Yes we know its the end times, but its part of the problem.

The politicians, governors, house of assembly members, etc, bank execs, and people in authority stealing wealth? are the majority of them totally pagans? NOPE. Even if they were, what about CONSCIENCE? They are serving God, abi?

This is not to say that there are no true believers at all. yes their are, but we need more. Can we found this(below) prevailent basically and by default in Nigeria and among Nigerians(one to another)?
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it,

definitely not. the passage says
Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

what is the problem? who is the problem? Is it Mr. President and his boys?
Answer: None of the above. The problem is the people. A change has to start first from the people.

There are 150+ million Nigerians. Do we have 75million politicians + army, police and their groups? NO.
So if a change for the better were to start, could it pervade our entirety? YES, if we want to.

So what has the white man got that we havent: lemme say it like this:
The little of true Christianity that they practice earns them enough of Gods favor that they are blessed much more abundantly. That is why they have left us behind.

Many are called, few are chosen. Its not how much you give, but how you give it.

THREE
Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
If only we could judge all our actions by this passage. I think it would be a start to a new beginning.
If politicians and those in authority could seek to do good things,
if the masses could seek to elect good people,
if you and I were looking for the next good thing we can do,

honestly, what else would we be looking for.

slashcuff:

This Is not just a joke but a true life Story which my Pastor told me and asked me the say question, for few moment i was speechless, Not knowing what to say.

he told me that a man came to meet him and told him that he want to divorce his wife after he found out that she's been used by the devil, that all his misfortune was because of that lady that when he confronted her she actually agreed to all the allegations. He said that the man said after several years of marriage without progress in all his endeavour, hardwork and sufferring was due to that woman. Would you divorce the woman after several years of marriage with 3 lovely and God fearing Children? What would you do if you find yourself in this man shoes?

ONE:
Is the man in question a Christian? not just a church-goer.
If Yes, for him to come and start asking his pastor if he could divorce or not is not the best way to go. The Bible's ONE-FLESH is a man and a woman, legally married by law or tradition. It doesnt matter who is the believer or not. Definitely, they both were sinners before this man became a Christian(if he is a Christian now).

TWO:
What is the yardstick that this man has used to measure and conclude that the woman is the source of his problem? What is definition of AGENT OF THE DEVIL? If he is a true child of God, he should destroy all her powers on his knees. Jesus said IT IS FINISHED 2000+ years ago. So he should not worry about her. And besides, has he allowed God into his situation? There are many Christians who live their life by allowing God to touch every part of their life, except their pockets. A man with clenched fists cannot catch anything. He should learn to give, be generous.

If I were the man, I wont divorce this woman. I would settle everything with God on my knees.

Please tell your man if he knows that IT IS POSSIBLE TO PRAY FOR SOMEONE UNTIL THAT PERSON SUBMITS TO GOD AND GETS INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Its never by force.
Religion / Re: Can A Christian Kill In Some Circumstances? by kimba(m): 10:32pm On Nov 04, 2006
WesleyanA:

a christian has no right to kill cool , .war's not an excuse either.

In times of war(LEGITIMATE WAR - Like when your country is attacked and you are in the army), yes, a Christian who kills has committed no sin.

The Bible encourages self-defense. If you are attacked, run away, if you cant defend yourself. And dont wait to be attacked in the first place. But if the ultimate self defense is to kill your opponent, theres no sin in that either. However, that must be if there is no other option at hand. If you fold your hands and get killed, you wont received God's pat on your head.

Seun:

Even anti-abortion campaigners know the answer to this one: forget the child and save the mother - the mother can have another child later.
Yes, the DOCTOR decides with the consent of the mother. If aborting the child to save the mother is the best option from the medical point of view, after all options have been exhausted, let the child go. First things first. The mother came first before the child.

Seun:

I am inclined to agree with you, though the bible doesn't say whether an unborn child can be 'killed' or not.

Who told you that one?
Gods word's to Jeremiah: Do you know what that means? That God knows every unborn child and they are counted as part of MAN. Every unborn child has a SOUL.
KJV: Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Remember Jacob and Esau? "Two nations are in thy womb, "

Yes, there is no outright "THOU SHALT NOT KILL an uborn child" in the Bible, but remember that the command "THOU SHALT NOT KILL" was referring to a MAN(male/female) killing a MAN. The major difference between MAN and animals is that MAN has a SOUL. The unborn child also has a SOUL. so put 2+2 together.

@kimba:
Your observations are cogent ones, sir, and in close examination, actually much in keeping with my own. As to a group of either gender gathering to "way-lay" anybody, I'm sure that you will agree that such behaviour is categorically, indisputably, irrefutably wrong. It's wrong for males and it's wrong for females. Rape is not a crime of sex, but rather a crime of violence, so why should immodest (however one chooses to define it) mode of dress be of any consequence in it?

Before a fire occurs, theres usually smoke.

@thimbook
was in a party recently and there were these "things" who were so eager to show off their "thangs" that conversations started amongst us guys that eventually landed some of my pals in trouble with their ladies, because we sounded so harsh and hard on them girls, but so what, how u dress really does affect the way u seen, and if we must come to the biological brass tacks, its really all about "rods & holes, if u flaunt it like a ho', then expect da rods to want to prod"!

Yeah right.
If you take Reverend seriously on this forum, "eh yah" is all I can say.

@Reverend
There are still some of my questions pending that you havent answered. Should we start all over?

@dakmanzero
"a naked human being is not the definition of beauty"

eh?

Em, Kimba. Did the mothership fly off and abandon you here with us ugly ape-like creatures? If so, You have my sympathy. It really must be cold and lonely in your world!
Ehen, so whats the whole point of COVERING YOUR unclothedness!!! If you think unclothedness is the real-definition of beauty, throw away all your clothes tomorrow and start prancing the streets naked.

See, wake up from your zero land. An 60-70 year old woman would have everything sagging and flying around without much control, but with a virtuous mind, she is still beautiful. On the other hand, a 20year old girl would have everything in the right places, but when such looks like a 'ho', then she's nothing but a 'ho'.

Another input:

These days, a lot of married couples dont wear their rings. The whole thing is getting to be more and more of an "just for when we are attending an occasion" or "just for formality" sake.

In the past, a married man or woman was too happy to have people see a ring in her hand. So also for the man. In fact, it was more of a status-quo, as in those that have climbed up to a "higher level in life".

Now, its the opposite. So why wont young girls run after a married man.

Pilot's widow rejects minister's verdict
By Debola Oladimeji

A WIDOW and her lamentation! ''My husband is dead and now they are lying against him.'' This was the reaction of Mrs. Mojisola Atanda, widow of the late Captain Charles Kolawole Atanda, pilot of the ill-fated Aviation Development Company (ADC) plane, which crashed on Sunday morning in Abuja to the Aviation Minister Babalola Borishade's indictment of Kolawole over the air disaster.

advertisement

Borishade had accussed the pilot of failing to heed the advice of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport not to fly immediately because of bad weather.

In an interview with The Guardian yesterday in Lagos, Mojisola described the minister's statement as too hasty. She said: "It should not be taken with a pinch of salt.''

She also described Borishade's action as an attempt to save the aviation industry from the mess his ministry had thrown the industry into. Mojisola explained that the body of her late husband would not have been discovered among the other victims but for the marks on his hand and the Varsace belt he put on. "His handkerchief and his special wallet also helped to identify his body," she added.

Sandwiched between sympathisers at her residence, she said Borishade's statement was a mere face-saving measure that cannot be substantiated with empirical facts.

She said: "The minister should not have jumped the gun by making such an unfounded statement that the crash would have been avoided if the pilot had heeded the advice of the Air Traffic Control .The minister was putting the blame on my late husband in order to exonerate the aviation industry from blame of the plane crash, but that cannot be the truth of the matter. I knew that my husband was not a disobedient husband. The minister should have waited for the outcome of the investgation panel before making such an unprofessional statement, if need be."

The widow added: "My husband was not a new pilot. He had worked for 27 years as a pilot. He was with the Nigerian Airways before the airline folded up and he had to join ADC. He had a Masters in Transport Management from an American University. He would never take off without his papers certified and cleared by the Air Traffic Control." She added that Kolawole was a hardworking, dependable and humble man who was also generous to a fault.

"My husband was a gentle person. He was so caring that he could not even kill a fly. Very obedient and caring. He had good records with ADC. If you are in doubt you can go and ask the management of the ADC, they will tell you that Captain Kolawole was not a disobedient pilot."

Mojisola said that her husband was a skilful pilot and that he even phoned the Air Traffic Control and explained to them the situation of things before the crash:

"He warned them that the plane was about to crash land and that they should get all the rescue operation on ground ready. If they had heeded his warnings, more live would have been saved. Now that my husband is dead, they can say anything because the dead cannot talk. They should all remember that we will all die one day." Mojisola said that her husband was a devout Christian, a member of the Baptist Church and a man who could not flout the order of the Air Trafic Controllers: "My husband was not a drunkard nor was he a smoker. He was a very cautious and meticulous man. We are still expecting the results of the panel set up by the Federal Government to investigate the causes of the plane crash before l say anything further "she said.

Mojisola said that her husband was a good Samaritan who cared for everybody: "Even in the church, he always said that we should give to the have-nots. My husband cared for the children as well. Once he landed at the airport, he would call me, asking: "Did you hear the sound of the plane? The plane has just landed." Even on his way back home he would call me again to confirm that he was on his way home. Such a person cannot disobey the order of the Air Traffic Control.

She queried: "My husband who had six children with aged parents, was very responsible and had never disobeyed aviation rules?"

The widow advised the minister to keep quiet and allow those who know about the aviation industry to talk. "The minister does not have experience in aviation, he should let his adviser speak for him on issues like this, otherwise, he would continue to make mistakes. At our stage of development, an aviation inclined person should be Minister of Aviation."

A close friend of the late pilot, Mr. Samuel Shobowale, also described the minister’s statement as baseless: "Captain Atanda was an experienced pilot. He had been flying for more than 25 years. You can confirm that from the management of the former Nigerian Airways and lately from ADC. They will tell you how long he had been flying, even international flights. He never abused the aviation rules. Every six months he always did his stimulating test in Belgium. I don’t know why he should be blamed now."

Shobowale continued: "As an experienced pilot he knew the dos and don’ts of the industry. I don’t know why the minister should be castigating him. It is very unfortunate, an aircraft that did not hit anything and caught fire in the air."

He added: "May be they are saying this to persuade the families of the important personalities involved in the plane crash. They want to use the pilot as a scapegoat. I don’t know what the minister meant in his mind by trying to go on air within 24 hours of the crash, without investigation, no evidence from the black box, nothing. He just went on air, and began to rubbish somebody that had been working for this country for more than 27 years. I don’t know what will be gained in all that.

"I am happy that the association of pilots had condemned him and other Nigerians have joined in condemning the minister's statement. If such a minister does not have an inkling of what he is talking about, he is supposed to resign. God save Nigeria."

@Topic:

It is interesting to me that the topic asks if WOMEN should dress more modestly. Why do we put such an emphasis on how it is that women dress and not how men dress?

And, is it not commentary on what we deem important when we suggest that women (in particular) dress in a certain manner for the sake of "safety?" Is it not imperative that all persons are protected by law? Just because a woman is wearing what may be, to some, an outfit that is overly revealing, that doesn't mean that she should have to defend her physical self from unwanted advances. But, still, we blame the woman for "asking for it." Complete and utter bilge! As long as clothing is not compromising to the laws of the area in which it is worn, then why not wear it? If it so grievously offends, then by all means look away.

The Law many times approves things that go against common sense. Primitive man used his common sense before the Law came. Laws have changed over-time but human beings are still born with a sense of right judgment.

There are some kind of clothes that defy common sense. There are some kind of clothes that put into question the level of common sense and maturity of the "dressed". There is a difference between WOMAN and girl. It might be acceptable for a girl, but not for a WOMAN.

And maybe you have forgotten what a GOD-GIVEN, SOCIETY-MANDATED and NATURE-GIVEN role that has been bestowed on the woman, a role that even Man doesnt have. You might have forgotten the role a mother plays in the life of a child, noting that these kids are/might be the next generation. Many people today are what they are(good or bad) because of their mothers. Even for adopted folks, a step father might not be able to play as much as a role as a step-mother. Now, for HER(WOMAN) to drag all her dignity on the floor of fashion and indecency is wrong.

A man can bare his chest and walk on the street. No questions asked, and Yes, men are supposed to dress properly too. Women don't way-lay men, gather together and rape a man. Its usually the other way around, a bunch of men, plan together to rape a woman. Even if it was a 1-man to 1-woman thing, the man still has an upperhand.

The chest of a man is not the same as the chest of a woman, even if the woman were flat chested. Even if she were flat-chested, as in totally nothing to nothing, flat as a table, for the fact that she is called woman, she would draw stares from both male and female.

You don't have to be partly or fully naked to be beautiful. A naked human being is not the definition of beauty and I really don't understand where beauty and unclothedness(full or part) joined hand in hand, because this is all that the fashion of today portray.

Let the woman be herself, let her dress up beautifully, she was created to be beautiful. but let it all be decent.

Family / Re: Why Do Married Men Run After Young Girls? by kimba(m): 11:09pm On Nov 01, 2006
Ronke 2811:

i think the topic should be WHY DO YOUNG GIRLS RUN SFTER MARRIED MAN?

Yes, this is the real question that deserves an answer:

WHY DO YOUNG GIRLS RUN AFTER MARRIED MEN

Kimba's answer:
Young girls run after married men because they think unmarried guys are irresponsible. They feel that young guy that is TOASTING them doesnt have a future. They feel he's insincere(although a lot of guys are - truth). They are looking for someone who has experience, who can take care of a girl, and truly, married men know how to take care of single-girls. They always do everything right, I mean CARE as in the definition of CARE. These young girls equate RESPONSIBILITY with PRESENTLY MARRIED - having a wife, kids etc. In so doing, they become home-wreckers unknowingly, because they see it all as LOVE. They feel so humbled to be loved by a man(who is already married) and who wont mind disposing his present wife for their(young girl) sake. They feel this act of LEAVING and CLEAVING and nothing more is the ultimate sacrifice of LOVE. It crosses their minds over and over again, that that boy toasting them can never go this length to make any sacrifice on their(young-girls) behalf.

While these thoughts rummage through the young-girls mind, the married man can only see DESIRE in the young girl's eyes. He feels like he could be a FATHERLY-FIGURE to this young-girl, who needs all the LOVE, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND SEX that he has never given to his own wife, or that she(his wife) has never demanded from him. He suddenly feels all she(young-girl) needs is LOVE and that he(married man) has an opportunity to show true bottom-of-the-heart LOVE.  Suddenly, the married man forgets the day he proposed to his wife, he forgets when he said "I DO" in the presence of the multitude of witnesses. The MIRAGE OF LUST blinds his eyes and he begins to see all the good things in this young-girl that he has never seen, had never thought about, and never hoped to see in his own wife. Over and over again, the thought crosses his mind that THIS IS ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY FOR A NEW START, and that this time, he is getting everything right.  Unfortunately, though feelings at first might be genuine, he not able to separate this FATHERY-FIGURE from his lust and his sex.

When the young girl's emotions run high, and they meet with that of the married man, on levels that know no bound, thw worst now begins to take place. The man is forced to make a choice between THE HOME I HAVE AND THE HOME I NEVER HAD, between THE WIFE I HAD AND THE LOVE I NEVER KNEW. Should he choose the former, the young-girl's heart is broken. Should he choose the latter, a home has been wrecked.
