Family / Re: What Level Of Education You Would Love Your Husband To Have? by kimba(m): 9:55am On Jan 02, 2007
talking about Nigerian education - a white piece of paper is better than a Nigerian University certificate.

The reason: academically delinquent lecturers cannot produce good students.

I once met a Nigerian who came to do a M.Sc in Industrial engineering in my school. He said he finished from ABU zaria. He woefully failed the M.Sc entrance exam - as in woefully, that they had to give him another entrance exam for B.Sc. He failed again. Yet he has a certificate saying he was a First Class ABU grad.

He had to do a lot of begging, had to go through remedial classes, took a lot of subjects with Undergrad students for about a year and a half before he was considered.

The end: he didnt finish the course. Why? he couldnt cope up with computer assignments, not to talk of lectures. I dont know where he is now.
Politics / Re: How We Can Make Nigeria A Great Nation In 2years: Contribute Positively by kimba(m): 9:45am On Jan 02, 2007
@poster,

forget 2-years. Its not possible. Even, a 20years plan is not feasible, with the way Nigeria is going. If you go abroad to Europe and America, you see simple-things(policies, goals) working - as if its all a childs play or some movie. But in nigeria, things dont work. Simple things dont work - that is the problem.

If you want to stand out as a saint, ull be hated and eliminated. Soon, ull become everyones enemy.

Yes, the government is to blame, Yes the people are to blame.

But if I become Nigerias president, the first law I will pass is :
- the immediate ban of and arresting of all touts, agberos and social miscreants all around the country. Let them go find something worthwhile to do. They are a force on their own presently and even policemen are becoming agberos. I cant still understand why someone will just wake up in the morning, go and block the road and start collecting money from every car that passes by. before anyone tells me that such thugs are poor, let me tell you something: poverty cannot be eradicated by violence. They have become a nuisance to the society.

- I will have all known corrupt politicians sentenced to death by public hanging. The remaining politicians will have to reform or die by public hanging too.

Politics / Noise Pollution Policy In Nigeria - Is It Possible by kimba(m): 9:27am On Jan 02, 2007
I got so pissed during this last end of year holiday period. Why? Too many noisy neighbors.

Many times, I wish NEPA would just take away their property. See, i have this neighbor that immediately nepa brings light, the next thing is to start blasting their radio at an ear deafenning pitch. They are in another compound, but the noise is so much that makes me fill uncomfortable. Last thursday, it was the worst, i woke up to a blaring sound of some ayefele song,

what do u think, is it possible to implement a noise pollution policy in Nigeria? lets start with Lagos. will it work?

Each cheek was like 3-4 basketballs packed into a sack. Imagine two of them in jogging pants. I was temporarily scared. In fact, the noise of street touts made things worse as they teased her holding their heads and shouting "mo ri re o".

@Kimba: I believe that there is a verse in the New testament whereby it is stated that in the future, in the day of judgement, some christians will come to jesus, he will say that he does not know them, even as they say to him that they used to perform miracles on earth in his name? Could you confirm that and what is that all about. I am a muslim, so its just that i want to know.

Religion / Re: Church And Football - Is It In Fact The Same Feeling? by kimba(m): 7:36pm On Nov 26, 2006
@Mongue
where you missed it is because you went to church to get a "feeling". You didnt go to Church to meet Jesus, neither did you go there to hear what He had to say through the pastor, perhaps twas to meet the members of the church and feel something. The feeling which is temporal and is just for a moment, - the feeling doesnt help you as a person, neither does it promote you to a better state of mind and life. Its just for that moment when the goal is scored.

Many other people get the kinda "feeling" you get after they commit fornication and adultery.
Others get theirs after getting "drunk" - when they reach "mount zion".
For others, its after they told a lie.
For others, its after defrauding a brother/sister.
For others, its after killing somebody.
Some others get the "feeling" after smoking dope, or even plain cigarette.
The common ground for all these is that they are addicted to a vice, from which they cant be free, and then they try to "look good" and so they name it something else.

Note: those that walk stark naked on the street are also at another "feeling" level.

Rather than liken religion and Christianity, accept the fact that you are addicted to football and unfortunately, Football has replaced Jesus in your Life. Brother, you need to make a U-Turn - real fast.

Anything that takes Jesus away from you is your religion. Christianity is not a religion, its a way of life - a way of life characterized by fellowship and communion with the Father, Son and Holy spirit.

The worst thing about addiction to football is that the fans never get all the money that the players/team get - even if they lost throughout.
- The fans will forever be fans and not the players
- even the guy that sat on the bench throughout still "got more action" than the fans who just shout and cause commotion
- Ive done a little research: IS IT NOT WEIRD AND ABSURD TO SEE FANS OF A TEAM ACTUALLY HAPPIER THAN THE PLAYERS IN THAT TEAM - if for example: the team wins a match. IN THEIR(FANS) STATE OF HAPPINESS, THEY JUMP ON CHAIRS, SHOUT, SCREAM, HUG ONE ANOTHER, WAVE SCARVES, DANCE AND DO ALL SORTS OF THINGS(FUNNY THOUGH) TO EXPRESS THEIR JOY THAT THEIR TEAM HAS WON - and yet they never kicked the ball.

At most, the players will run round the field once or twice, hug one another and thats all. But for the fans, they would bet their money, make friends and enemies, get into arguments etc., all in the process of analyzing the "Moves, goals", and whateva they fancy to analyze. I think its absurd. This analysis would continue days after the match has taken place, yet these FANS get nothing in return. I think its all a waste of time and purpose in life. It should have been the other way around - isnt it.
Religion / Re: A Religious Man Is Not A Free Man by kimba(m): 7:17pm On Nov 26, 2006
The word "religion" itself has been bastardized and dragged to the mud. Now, it means everything.

The scene is similar to the world of MARRIAGE. Note: Marriage is not Merry - Age. This is because a husband and wife, leave their old lives behind, leave their own lives behind and begin to live together as one. In a sense, they are not free anymore. For the husband to suddenly take off to his buddy's house as before is not acceptable. He has to inform his wife. This works, ideally vice-versa. In decision making, both come together and decide, twill be no more the decision of one-while he/she just feels good about it. This cuts across every stage of their life, eating, friends, worship, career, goals, finance etc, (you can name the rest), why? because one is committed to the other and vice-versa. So yes, religion doesnt spell freedom - as I likened it to a married couple.

On the Christian note: Christ came to set all free, all who would believe in his death on calvary. The world, man, was in bondage before he came - the bondage to sin and self. Isnt it bondage to be doing what your conscience tells you is wrong? It is bondage to find yourself doing what you didnt want to do.

Now, Christ came and put away religion - which was what the pharisees and saducces were all concerned about. He came to give us Life, the life of Liberty in Jesus Christ. There is no other liberty, except through Jesus Christ.

To find your 2-feet going to church on sunday or whateva day of the week you find them going without a purpose to receive or commune with God is the definition of religion. Its more like saying one is so used to something, that you find yourself doing it without previous purpose to do such - that is religion.

God doesnt demand our religion, he demands us and our faith.

the question is:

do you have to be a pastor's kid to be a responsible somebody?

many parents have surely failed in the upbringing of their children,
and many children have also failed by not listening to their parents.

Conclusion: Children, Obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honor thy father and they mother, that thine days may be long on earth,

the Bible never said that the above passage belongs only to pastors kids.

But yes, the truth is that as pastors kids, one has to be a good example, because people are watching you.
TV/Movies / Re: What's The Difference Between A Film And A Home Video? by kimba(m): 6:44pm On Nov 26, 2006
Seun:

Home videos in the traditional sense are family movies recorded on $500 camcorders - like "my daughter's first birthday", "our son's first steps", "our daughter's 16th birthday", "our daughter's graduation" et cetera.

Film is a format used to create all international movies in prehistoric times.

The two are now converging. ($50k) camcorders are often used in movie production these days. E.g. Star Wars.

Is it the fact/not that a movie/film or whateva was recorded with a cam-corder that makes it a homevideo?

without content, whether it was recorded with a cam-corder or in an international format, such a movie is still crap.

Don't waste your time,  He is a lost case (of the nut variety)
If it were only between you and I, sure, You are the one that needs enlightment, as in a real and solid enlightenment.

@darkmanzero
He's merely a good guy with a strong sense of morals, unfortunately overblown probably due to a sheltered existence.

With a bit more exposure, I'm sure he'll relax some of his tight moral standards. The fact that he's among those who believes that your ridiculous kinky church business is actually real (and PLEASE don't start with it over here, we don't need to hear the voices of a  thousand shocked dissenters)  is a sign of that.

Hopefully he will become more tolerant of others, and more respectful of women, when that happens. However there is always the chance that he may simply become bitter and disillusioned, which is not a good thing.

One positive is, that some people may actually remain sheltered up to the grave! In a way, this will probably be the path of least resistance for him.

FYI, Nope, I didnt have a sheltered existence. Let me tell you: I come from a good family with a GOOD name. In fact, if I were riding on that name alone, I could get me places, but im not. If there is one thing we were taught was to remember where we came from, and to choose the right over wrong.

I grew up in the western and asian world where what I saw on the streets was quite different from what my parents told me about "where they came from". I have seen all the pollutions here and there. Its not a matter of having tight moral standards, its the ability to choose good even when evil surrounds, its the decision to stand and act right, even when wrong is the norm. Thats Kimba(if you wanted to know - again).

With reference to Reverend's Kinky Church, whether real or not real - thats not the issue, but the motive behind his actions is the problem. Its like putting up a website to say you are going to/actually robing a bank. Whether or not a bank is robbed, you sure deserve to get arrested.

Millions of people with virtue, I believe includes a mass of suicide bombers ,religious bigots, and illiterates. I am quite sure you will find that people exactly like yourself are in the minority amongst the 'people with virtue'. Probably because,
Its like you don't understand english:
what has "suicide bombers, religious bigots and illiterates" got to do with immodest dressing?

or maybe you are the suicide bomber, the religious bigot and the illiterate person promoting indecency?

you say society itself is losing its morals
Yes, i said it and I say it again: Soceity itself is loosing its morals.

Unfortunately moral standards are a product of society, and as such society can NOT lose its morals. It merely changes them.
Thats why I said you don't understand English.
The society are the People.

inserted here:
Unfortunately, moral standards are a product of PEOPLE, and as such PEOPLE cannot loose their morals? (are you sure about that?). They merely change them?
That people don't loose their morals? are you sure?
why is it that some people brought up in good homes join bad gangs and it becomes impossible for them to CHANGE? is it become they had CHANGED from bad to good and they have forgotten how to CHANGE back, or the fact that it is hard for them to CHANGE back because they have lost something? - the good in them?
(i was using your own words - CHANGE)

When what you had before is no more in your posession, is that a CHANGE or a LOSS? because definitely, you don't have something in equal?

DUDE! you have 'HALF NAKED GIRLS' in the WALL STREET JOURNAL and THE ECONOMIST! wake up and stop living in the 10th century.
Yes there are half naked girls there, but ask yourself? what are they doing on the covers of those magazine? are they part of the business-information, stock analysis or whatever,  or that they are just used for advertisement? - wrong advertisement? because they(Magazine owners/editors etc) know that men like you would have your tongues wagging and dripping saliva once you see such nakedly clad females - and all that these magazine editor wants is for you to buy the magazine and drool over the girls, even if you don't understand what is written inside the magazine?

don't you think those magazine owners, editors etc, are achieving their own aim at your own expense - i mean stupid expense? while leaving you at a loss - because you will never have those girls as your own? And if you are married, what are you doing staring at those glossy pics, and concluding that those girls are better than your own wife?

I'm laughing at you, boy? Cant you see you are the one in the 10th century.

Note: the fish never eats the bait, it only gets hooked. It then dies.

3) (should be (2) actually) you are giving the muslim women conditions on where they are allowed to dress according to their religious dictates. The religion says they should not show u their face, to preserve *your* virtue, oh virtuous one.
Thank you sir. If thats what their religion says, then let them do it.

And besides what is your own religion. You don't seem to have one. One not needs to have a religion to know what is good and bad and to choose the good over bad. abi, tell me more. Its more of what one is taught from home. The truth is a lot of people didnt learn anything at home, they live and learn the streets, and really they are the ones giving this world a bad image - what do you think?

finally, the world at large proves that there is much happiness in lack of common-sense   the stupidest people are the happiest around, don't u know!
How did you know? is it because you are stupid - stupid enough to promote indecency and to mock those who do otherwise? And i guess the likes of you are those who would have daughters in future and wont "let them breathe" - because you would preach the "Do as I say but don't do as I do" - because your own personal life is not a good example. You would want to see the unclothedness of other people on THE ECONOMIST, but would you be so happy if your own childs ass is BEAMING IN YOUR FACE? so you would end up to shelter your own seed from "flaunting what she has", and at the end of the day, she'll run away with someone to your utter dismay?

Ok seriously, do not presume to equate your own moral standard with the presence of superior intelligence. It is arrogant and self-important. And I did mean sucks to be you. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't want to be you, considering the disconnect you have with the society you find yourself in
Where is superior intelligence? definitely you don't have it.
Really, you can't be me, because you can't be me - plain and simple.
Its not so easy to stick with truth - is it? They say the truth is always bitter. So see, you can't be me.
Religion / Re: Atheism Is An Act Of Ignorance , True Of False Or ? by kimba(m): 11:34pm On Nov 23, 2006
I dont see atheism as an act of ignorance.

heres a summary from Wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheism
Atheism is the disbelief[1] in the existence of God and other deities.[2] It is commonly defined as the positive denial of theism (ie. the assertion that deities do not exist),[3] or the deliberate rejection of theism (ie. the refusal to believe in the existence of deities).[4] However, others—including most atheistic philosophers and groups—define atheism as the simple absence of belief in deities[5][6][7] (cf. nontheism), thereby designating many agnostics, and people who have never heard of gods, such as the unchurched or newborn children, as atheists as well.[8][9] In recent years, some atheists have adopted the terms strong and weak atheism to clarify whether they consider their stance one of positive belief no gods exist, or of negative unbelief.[10]

Many self-described atheists share common skeptical concerns regarding empirical evidence for spiritual or supernatural claims. They cite a lack of evidence for the existence of deities. Other rationales for atheism range from the personal to the philosophical to the social to the historical. Additionally, while atheists tend to accept secular philosophies such as humanism, naturalism and materialism, they do not necessarily adhere to any one particular ideology, nor does atheism have any institutionalized rituals or behaviors.[11]

Atheism is very often equated with irreligion or nonspirituality in Western culture,[12] but they are not the same. Some religious and spiritual beliefs, such as several forms of Buddhism, have been described by outside observers as conforming to the broader, negative definition of atheism due to their lack of any participating deities.[13] Atheism is also sometimes erroneously equated with antitheism (opposition to theism) or antireligion (opposition to religion). Some philosophers and academics, such as philosopher Jurgen Habermas call themselves "methodological atheists" (also known as or methodological naturalism)[3] [4] [5] to denote that whatever their personal beliefs, they do not include theistic presuppositions in their method.

Still going along the ignorance line, I would rather say Atheistm is an act of willful ignorance.
Its like saying theres nothing like air since I cant see it.

On the other hand "a wrong view of who God is" has also led some people to the belief that He doesnt exist. When we were young, we were told, if you dont like your teacher, you wont like his/her subject, and passing the course will be the next thing to difficult. So also, if one has a wrong and biased view of something, he/she will always find a reason to disprove, condemn, belittle and make mockery of whatever such a thing is. And the truth is there is an answer(truth or false) for everything.

Christianity is experiential. Its not the 1,2 and 3 do this and then I believe you exist kind of mentality that we have. Without experiencing Christ, you dont have a story to tell, you dont have a testimony. Clean and clear you heart out of all the biases, invite Christ into your heart in a genuine manner and see if you wont feel His presence.

There are many people who are naturally blind. We pray for those, that they may see.
Its a greater problem when others, who have eyes, close them and say 'I cant see'.

Religion / Re: 101 Clear Contradictions In The Bible by kimba(m): 11:03pm On Nov 23, 2006
@Reverend,

How much is the devil paying you to waste your time trying to disprove the Bible? How much have you gained from Him?

Like I told you before, let me tell you again: Many people have walked the surface of this earth and tried in one way or the other to destroy the Bible. Some people even killed those who stood by it in times past. Many burnt it and hoped it will never flourish, but see, they all failed. A lot of people more intelligent than you are have spoken all the English they could speak, done all the research they could do, but see NO MAN CAN DEFEAT GOD.

A lot of PhDs in Theology have turned the Bible upside down. You dont sound like you've got any PhD, even if you do, I see that you are very much confused.

By the way, is it only 101 contradictions you found in the Bible? you mean you couldn't even find one more to make it 102?

O Boy, I hope this is not what you teach your followers in your Church. I didn't see any pro-nudity contradicting verses in your list. You mean all such verses agreed with one another?

--------
Just in case it crossed your mind to ask me how much is God paying me for believing in Him(since I asked you a similar question), Yes, I am overwhelmingly blessed, that I turned my middle name to blessing360. More than this blessing is the hope for eternity, right where God is: HEAVEN!

You dont have such a hope, do you?
