My guy, NUC accreditation is charade when you see what departments do to gain accreditation. Don't you know that some Universities prefer sourcing existing personnel from other institutions rather than recruiting.

PhD pursuit isn't for opportunities but to contribute to knowledge production.
PhD is mainly a research opportunity that enables one think and contribute productively to numerous issues that need solution. In advance societies, PhD/postdoc students are encouraged with financial aids. PhD degree has opened doors of opportunities for many including...

I beg to disagree. There are several PhD holders that are seeking for jobs iin Nigeria. I know a good number of them personally.
There are many job opportunities especially in academia. Most Nigerian universities are understaffed. During resource verification/accreditation, you would see many departments borrowing personnel from other places. Don't be discouraged from pursuing your PhD,one day, nature would create your own opening. Remember when preparation meets opportunity, success results.

Your MSc supersedes your 3rd class; then your PhD would be a very big advantage cuz without good MSc you won't even get the admission. Your PhD reduces the competition on the pyramid ladder of life. If you can, please go for your PhD; one day it would pay you in no small measure.

The lady was caught by late boy's mother while in the act and reported to the villagers who in turn paraded the lady naked in the village. It is a taboo and shameful for a lady who has never married to be paraded before the village naked. The shameful parade means the woman's chances of marrying is almost sealed.
The lady had no option than to revenge by killing the boy. This is life story and narrated the way it happened. It happened at Ibi-Abueke in Ihitte/Uboma L.G.A, Imo State.

I have come to realise that majority of Nairalanders are students and they hate lecturers with passion as a result of what they may be passing through in various higher institutions. Be that as it may, the truth of the matter is that public higher institutions will finally collapse if their affairs especially as it concerns finance is controlled from Abuja. The way public primary and secondary schools are in Nigeria now would be the fate of public higher institutions.

So they should be mourning instead of celebrating the elevation that came in their lives? Do you know how many people that wanted to be ministers only for few to be selected out of thousands of Nigerians? Most of the appointees are accomplished & even if they dont want to celebrate, their allies would celebrate for them. Blessings come from God and it's when you celebrate with the blessed and favoured that it tranfers to you.

In all sense of fairness, Biodun has excelled in his chosen profession. I can't say the same about Skales whose career has refused to "Shake Body" since 2015.

A musician who can't maintain a key for 50 seconds calls another a scam.
I woulda taken this seriously if it were from someone a bit more successful in their chosen career.

Skales, it's better to be called a scam of a pastor by someone whose only knowledge of you is through social media accusations than to be called a scum of a man by your own girlfriend and her friends.
You just emerged from hibernation since Shiloh 2018. Welcome back bro.

The Governor knew he was criticised by the man he's trying to make a commissioner in his administration, yet he chose him. It shows that the governor is mature, intelligent with zeal to move KD forward irrespective of your religious or political learning. Every good leader should listen to constructive criticism & not see critics as enemies as there are one or two things to learn from criticism.

Did I just read Federal university wukari establishment bill being rejected? Which federal university wukari? The one that have been graduating students since 2016 or another one?
I was also wondering about the meaning of the rejection of the bill establishing an already existing university. Most of the other rejected proposed universities are colleges of education and it's understandable.

You raised your revenue through dubious means. You refused to meter customers almost one year after application. Now you brought MAP, yet after one month of application for meter, customers are yet to hear from you on how to make payment. You increased your bill by more than 100% to the detriment of the poor masses you refused to give meter and you are here happy for your exploitation. Government just have to look into the activities of these AEDC/MAP because people are really being dealt with.

Here comes the Speaker of the 9th National Assembly by God's grace.

Politics / Speaker: Nwajiuba Gets A Boost As Former Senate Whip Backs South-East by kingi777: 11:46am On Jun 09, 2019
*SPEAKER: NWAJIUBA GETS A BOOST AS FORMER SENATE WHIP BACKS SOUTH-EAST*
Bode Olagoke

Former Chief Whip of the Senate, *Senator Roland Owie* has advised in-coming members of the House of Representatives to elect a Speaker from the South-east to ensure that the Igbos are not marginalized in the next dispensation.
Senator Owie stated this while speaking on the ambition of *Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba* to become the next Speaker of the House of Representatives. Owie said that the emergence of a Speaker from the South-East would balance the polity and ensure that accusations of marginalization and exclusion by the South-East stop.
Senator Owie further said that it would be unjust to deny the South-East the speakership of the House when the North-West and the South-West had produced the President and Vice President respectively. He added that it was also clear that the North-East would produce the President of Senate and wondered why Nigeria would keep the Igbos out of Leadership positions in the Executive and Legislative arms of Government.
He warned that the South-East would be restive and agitated if nobody from there was in Government. Senator Owie expressed support to Hon. Nwajiuba insisting that Nwajiuba’s emergence as Speaker would calm nerves in the South-East and help in bringing all sections of Nigeria together for national development.
The former Chief whip pleaded with the South-West to support a South-East speaker for equity and fairness in the Country. He posited that since the Vice President was from the south-West, the yorubas should be content with that and make sacrifice for National Unity by allowing the South-East take over the leadership of the House of Representatives.
Nwajiuba’s ambition to become the next speaker of the House of Representatives, yesterday, received a boost following support from the *Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the five states of the South-East.* In a letter to *President Muhammadu Buhari,* the Chairmen pleaded with him “to passionately look into the zoning arrangement of principal officers’ positions at the National Assembly by our great party. It is our sincere belief that South-East should be accommodated in the spirit of one indivisible Nigeria.”
Similarly, a Group known as the *South-East equity Alliance* visited the National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole and pleaded that APC supports Hon. Nwajiuba’s ambitions.
The *Chuba Okadigbo Rainbow Organization* has also pleaded with President Buhari and the APC leadership to allow Hon. Nwajiuba become speaker in the interest of fairness. The National Chairman of the Group, *Dr. James Okoroma* describes Hon. Nwajiuba as a true APC man who would harmoniously work with the Executive and his colleagues to build the Nation.

S/East APC presents member elect of Accord Party to Oshiomhole as Speaker
by Tony Akowe, Abuja June 7, 2019

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the five southeastern states on the platform of the South-east Equity Alliance have asked the party to cede the seat of the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the zone in the spirit of equity and fairness.
Curiously, however, the group said they have met with the National Chairman and presented the name of an Accord Party Member Elect, Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba as their candidate for the speaker.
Addressing a news conference after a closed-door meeting with the National Chairman on APC Friday in Abuja, spokesman of the group Barrister Kingsley Ononuju, said the south-east “have competent and qualified honourable members of the House of Representatives with excellent track record in public administration and grounded in the nitty-gritty of lawmaking.
“Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba, a detribalized Nigerian, is one of them. He is a man of integrity, with effective political structure both in the north and south. A proficient team player, humble and dedicated.
“Hon. Nwajiuba, is also eminently qualified and favourably disposed to rendering service, unifying and building a better Nigeria by working harmoniously with the executive. His goal is to give real meaning to governance, through dynamic legislative service.
“He has emerged and we have to support him. The entire southeast including the caucus in the House of Representatives, should rally round and make sure that he succeeds. No one, should be under the illusion that power and plum positions can be obtained through patronage or on a platter. There must be a push and effort.
“Thank goodness, some prominent Nigerians and groups like the political strategist, Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, of Kaduna State and the formidable Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), have joined the fray in support of the southeast but that is not enough.

“We, as the conscience of Southeast, have to make an impact so that other Nigerians and interested parties, will know that we mean business and not ready to give up.
When this is done, we believe that they will take us seriously and our goal will be achieved.
“This crucial moment, calls for concerted action, unity of purpose and oneness. Certainly, with the Speaker of the House of Representatives going to the southeast, it will enhance peace and help contain all forms of restiveness in the region.”
The group expressed concern over what they described as the exclusion of South-east in the first tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying “last time the Southeast headed any organ of government, was during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and that brought stability in governance, peace and progress, especially with the sterling performance of the likes of Senators Ken Nnamani, Pius Anyim etc.
In 2019, we must be present at the Nigerian pinnacle of power. For this reason, we call on all the governors, elected members of the National Assembly from the southeast zone, and other major stakeholders from the area, to come together, pool resources, so as to give this effort, the necessary impetus.
“At this point, we are asking, is Southeast part of Nigeria? That pertinent question must be answered this time, with the emergence of Speaker of the House of Representatives from the southeast geopolitical zone.”

Health / Re: Some Labs Are Giving False HIV Results In Lagos - Doctor Olufunmilayo by kingi777: 2:08pm On Jun 07, 2019
Why should somebody kill himself or herself just because of HIV test that's not confirmed. If a Lab tells you are positive, the best to do is to go for confirmatory test in other facilities. I know most labs advice their clients to confirm at heart to heart centres in various primary health centres, general hospitals or any nearby hospital which is free. HIV test is free in most government and USAID sponsored hospitals but costs at most #1000 in private health establishment due to some logistics.
In developed world all health workers work synergistically for the good of the patients but in Nigeria, it's pull him syndrome/ supremacy tussle that's the order of the day. Everybody is a lab scientists whether you studied science lab, CHEW, biology or any science or art course in Nigeria. When these people churn out questionable results, you turn to blame qualified and licensed med lab scientists that suffered for 6 years studying and acquiring experience. Everywhere labs, even some hospitals, pharmacies, PHC, maternity have labs manned by those who have no business being there because the employers cannot pay qualified scientists.
Many pharmacies abound for e.g. in Abuja but few are manned by real pharmacists.
Please try to identify real Doctors, Pharmacists, Medical Laboratory Scientists, other health professionals and verify the registration status of their facilities before patronising. Thanks.

Speakership: Lawyer Seeks Disqualification Of Umar Bago
By Kayode Ajiboye - June 4, 2019

Abuja – An Abuja based legal practitioner, Paul Ajiroba has instituted a suit at the Federal High Court Abuja, seeking to disqualify Hon. Umar Bago from contesting the position of Speaker of House of Representatives in the 9th National Assembly.
The suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/598/2019, dated June 3, 2019, has Bago, All Progressives Congress (APC) and Polaris Bank Plc as 1st to 3rd respondents respectively.
Specifically, the plaintiff is praying the court for an order restraining Umar Bago of Chanchanga Federal Constituency of Niger state from contesting the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In addition, the plaintiff wants the court to void the nomination and election of Bago, having not qualified to run for such office.
The plaintiff said in an affidavit he deposed to personally, that he is aware that Hon. Bago, who has been a member of the House since 2011, is currently aspiring for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives.
He alleged:”That Umar Bago had dipped his hands into the said account and had converted same to personal use, in abuse of his office, without the consent and approval of the bank and its customer”.
The deponent further averred that when the owner of the money demanded for the money, it was not available for payment, causing the bank a serious embarrassment.
This development, he said led to the sack of Hon. Umar Bago for abuse of office, financial impropriety and conversion of depositors’ funds to personal use from the bank in 2009 and as such, unfit and unqualified to aspire for the position of Member of the House of Representatives or even Speaker of the House.
Ajiroba said Hon. Bago had worked as a manager of Minna Branch of Afribank Plc in 2008 and was sacked in 2009 for allegedly mismanaging depositors’ funds, thereby defrauding the bank and embarrassing it before its customers.
The plaintiff averred that the first defendant allegedly dipped his hands into the funds belonging to one of the customers of the bank and converted about N200 million against normal banking process.
Amongst other questions, the plaintiff wants the court to determine, “ Whether by virtue of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the first defendant is qualified to spire and to run for the office of a member of the House of Representatives since 2011, having been dismissed or relieved from his employment from Afribank Nigeria Plc (now Polaris Bank) for misappropriation, conversion of depositors’ money to personal use and related offences.
“Whether by virtue of the sack, dismissal or compulsory relive of the first defendant from the employment of the Afribank Plc (now Polaris Bank) for financial misappropriation, conversion of depositors funds to personal use and financial impropriety, the first defendant is not disqualified from running for the office of Member, House of Representatives, or even Speaker of the House”.
The suit is yet to be assigned to a judge.
