Politics / Re: Northerners Are Not Controlling Nigeria's Oil Blocks by kingingkinging: 2:08pm On Mar 08, 2013
thelastPope: And for the record, Adenuga has no oil block. He is fronting for IBB. Adenuga did not acquire any oil block in 1991. He is only fronting for IBB. As at 1996, Adenuga was just an ok guy. My friend's father worked with him. He was importing tin tomatoes and other products at one time.

So, you think if you have oil block today, exploration and drilling will start same day?

Are you aware that the Folawiyos will just start drilling by 2014 for an oil bloc that they have right to for about 20 years in Epe Lagos.

Pls learn about things before raising an arguement on such. Adenuga had Consolidated oil then before buying National oil later in 2000's. He is just a stubborn business man and that is why he is called the bull.

Importing tomatoes to you is a small business, right? Was it not rice that Dangote used to import before around same time and cement? Adenuga was also importing fabrics, he had Equitorial Trust Bank and later Devcom bank too,etc . You need to learn more about business and scale of operation-small, middle and large scale.

Akpa ife: Igbo piple get sense pass anyother tribe in Nig,Nig is popular is becos of igbos who no hausa n yourba

I see, Otondo like you. from the time immemorial, that sense you claim has not shown. The wealthiest in Nigeria has always been Yoruba and Hausa, the learned and professionals have always been Yoruba, the traders have always been Igbo.

1. Herbert Marcauly ( a Yoruba man) started the first politacal party in Nigeria;
2. Da Rocha-(a Yoruba man) was the first Nigerian millionaire in dollars and pounds;
3. Dangote-(Hausa man) is the current richest person in Africa (Forbes) followed by Mike Adenuga (Yoruba);
4. Folorunsho Alakija-(Yoruba woman) is the richest woman in Nigeria; etc

So where is the wisdom of the Igbo?

You just spoke rubbish.

28. May I, Mr. Chairman, conclude this presentation by referring to the distribution of income in Nigeria today? No better illustration of the huge income disparity can be quoted than the statement of Malam Adamu Fika, Chairman of the Committee set up by Government to review the Nigerian public service. In the course of presentation of his Report, the Chairman pointed out that 18,000 public officers consume in the form of salaries, allowances and other perquisites N1.126 trillion naira (£4billion) of public funds. The total Nigerian budget for 2013 is N4.9 trillion (£20 billion). This is the worst form of corruption and oppression. A wholesale look at public expenses vis-à-vis the real need of the country has become urgent.

I weep for Nigeria. We are going no where if we continue like this.

It is only a fool that does same thing in same way and expects a different result.

Ghana's GDP is US$90.0 Billion Current = Source IMF

U.K's GDP is US$2.316 Trillion Current = Source IMF

Lagos State GDP is US$33,679 Billion Old figures = Source Canback Global Income Distribution Database.

Yes Lagos try no be small but Fashola should stop cracking bad jokes!

Is either you dont know how to read or your comprehension ability is shallow. There is no where in the passage where the gov said Lagos economy is bigger than that of UK and Ghana or more robust than the duo. He ONLY MENTIONED RATING. Fitch international just rated states, countries and companies and he made reference to the rating. UK economy is growing very slowly and Ghana's economy is ok but moves lower than that of Lagos.

Pls read well and with objectivity.

Politics / Re: Lagos Was Party To National Good Governance Tour Agreement by kingingkinging: 1:11pm On Mar 01, 2013
It is painful that we still have people who believe the unrepentant deception of PDP. I used to see the opposition as the bad one until I discovered recently after GEJ broke my heart too that the opposition parties, more often than not, are always correct.

Historically, let us go memory lane:

1. OBJ in 2003 told AD to have a pact and run election on same day for presidency and gov, PDP used that, among other things, to swwep all SW states except Lagos (Tinubu) who did not agreev with PDP.

2. Mrs Jonathan said she went abroad to rest when she came only to do thanksgiving and start saying she did many surgeries and was dead for a week ( another lie);
3. GEJ promised one term in all his campaigns and has already started giving a double mouths now;

4. Going to see the level of work is good on the projects but not a wanton way of wasting our resources, Benin-Ore road is still bad, Ikene-Benue road enroute Abuja is still non-motorable, East-West road is still very bad, power is still eccentric and eppileptic, joblessness is till high, level of education is still poor, what good governance is that? Aninhe, Ogbu;lafor, Oyinlola, Akala, GEJ, Doyin Okupe, etc have different corruption charges to answer ( GEJ has removed himself), so what is good governance.

As if that is not enough, you are bringing about 120 people and expect a state that is working on Lekki Deep Sea port, light rail, Ikorodu road, Free Trade Zone, Eko Atlantic, etc to host you and spend hard-earned tax payers money for this frivolities you want to do. 3rd Mainland bridge that FG did has no street light, the railings are bad, MMA is collapsing after just 3 months, Oshodi -Appapa is bad ( Fashola has written them on this) , no street light there, etc . I support them on reneging on this foolish agreement.

We should bury our heads in shame in Nigeria, FG is a bunch of disappointments.

Politics / Re: Obasanjo And Tinubu: Who Is A Better Leader? by kingingkinging: 4:59pm On Feb 22, 2013
Am I missing something? Obasanjo to me is a great and powerful politician but not a good leader, so I will say Tinubu is better for the following reasons:

1. Leadership is about caring for the followers- Tinubu till today is a celebrated leader even among his followers but Obasanjo always have a bad relationship with his follower, ask Atiku, Audu Ogbe,Solomon Lar, Aninhe, Gbenga Daniel, etc;
2. Successor- Tinubu single-handedly picked Fashola and that makes his success story complete but Obasanjo has always been picking weaklings from Shehu Shagari to Yar'adua to Jonathan, etc;
3. Tinubu earns respects from his teeming followers, remember his 60th birthday that rocked Lagos and entire Nigeria, remember it was after leaving office as the state gov, Obasanjo's birthday did not even shake his local govt. He has been losing elections even in his own ward. He does not have the grip of his hood unlike the Jagaban.
4. Obasanjo is vindictive and plays politics of calumny. He punishes anybody that crosses his line-Ladoja, Dariye, Alamashiagha, Tafa Balogun, Tinubu,Atiku,all the senate president in his first term(Enwerem,Chuba,Pius Anyim,etc) and that has affected his followership. Nobody likes him fully but people like Aregbesola can die for Tinubu because he made them.
5. Tinubu is concerned about the long term benefit of things hence the reason for charting a good course and perfect map for Lagos which Fash is following unlike Obasanjo who wants his own benefit alone ( 3rd term project).
6. After Tinubu left power, his wife became senator in Lagos but after Obasanjo left power his daughter could not defeat an unknown person in his senatorial district, too poor.
Pls the list is endless

Mekusnwa: Very funny how some people are misled by the antics of some opposition politicians.
Why would any Government have problems with any inquest or evaluation of their performance if not for mediocrity? This an unintelligent excuse by Oshiobaba to have his govt assessed on the basis of good governance.
The good governance tour is a wonderful initiative aimed at rendering an account of stewardship to citizens by those they freely elected. Except for mischief, no sane govt should have problems with that. I support Maku 100%. Instead of making noise in Abuja, the govt should go and show these projects live and direct. That is exactly what people desire. And it takes a responsive minister of information to heed to this call as part of information management.

Where did he say he doesnt want to be assessed? Pls do not allow syncophancy to blind your sense of judgement? He said he cant pay for the cost attached. Very simple. Do you need 120 people to assess a good road, good school, laudable programmes? Definitely no. Let them go to Yobe and Borno for the tour.
Politics / Re: Oshiomhole Wont Use State Resources For Good Governance Tour by kingingkinging: 1:49pm On Feb 20, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: I like governor Oshiomole alot and he's definitely one very popular governor. However, he should watch it because he's beginning to exhibit arrogance and dictatorial tendencies.

I understand the national good governance tour is a programme of collaboration between the FG and 36 state govts (and FCT). I'm surprised the comrade governor now tagged the national good governance tour a "federal govt programme"

After watching some of the live telecast of the national good governance tour in some states, I concluded that we need more of such programmes. On every occasion that I watched the live telecast of the citizens forum, UNDILUTED questions were asked by citizens resident in any part of the world. And the governors and minister of information labour to provide answers to all the questions.

No matter how the comrade governor has performed, there are always issues and problems (some of which the governor may not be aware of) that may require further clarification.

Moreover, democracy is not a one man show. There should be continuous conversation between the leaders and followers. Avenues for such conversation can never be surplus. The good governance tour is one of such avenues for conversation between the leaders and the people.

If the governor can sponsor the camping of national football teams in Edo (which he has done in the past), he should be able to provide counterpart funds to support the 3days visit of the national good governance tour team to Edo state.

I have always known you are totally insincere and a bunch of syncophant working for GEJ. 120 member team will cost nothing less than N300,000,000 for 3 days. 5 star hotel (accommodation), feeding, logistics and honorarium maybe N1m each to the 120 people, others are advertisement cost, television viewing cost,etc. Why?
You mentioned camping Super eagles as a similar expenditure but you have forgotten that sport has social benefits, it brings economic and commercial benefits to any hosting community both before, during and after the programme or why do you think countries of the world fight, lobby and even bribe to host world cup and olympics, it also has aesthetic values, it brings happiness, etc?. Sport is far more reasonable than 'good governance tour' which has no social value and economic benefit to the state. The supposed or estimated N300m would build one elementary school or give a relieve to poor family. Labaran Maku should go to Borno, Bauchi or Yobe for his good governance tour. Even Gej has not visited the place for the past 3 years. why Edo. We all know the man is a performer. Corruption-ridden govt.

She will do it and the wife might as well either set her up or assasinate her. So eventually, she causes comotion and loses the money.

A woman that wants to share husband estate alive can kill to make money, steal to make money and malign somebody to make money. That wife is a bad woman.

Now, to ur point, see, it aint necessary to call him brother if u both undstnd dt.
Like ppl say, respect is reciprocal.
BTW, if it doesnt bother u, why come here?

Dear Busola, I am sure you are not marrying yourself but your guy, therefore, you are not the issue here but your guy. He doesnt like it simple; stop it simple. Calling by alias or Initial like if he is Ayo-AY, or uncle something will not kill u, reduce your age or societal value. This is one of the little marital politics that ladies should understand. Let me give you an example, I was a classmate to my elder brother's wife, in fact we were friends in secondary school. The story changed immediately I knew her as my sis in-law. She started calling me brother ( a sign of respect to us though it is not in reality), I was still calling her by her first name. But later, I couldn't because I became obliged indirectly to respect my elder brother's wife.

You have to understand marriage more, especially now that you are close to wedding. Marriage is more of your patner than yours and vice versa, so if he doesn't like it, then stop it.
Politics / Re: Fashola Chides Critics Over ‘borrowing For Development by kingingkinging: 11:45am On Feb 01, 2013
This is Punch's version which I think is more detailed.

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola says the need to ensure infrastructural renewal and economic development is the reason his administration decided to borrow in order to fund such projects.

Fashola also cleared the air on the uncertainty concerning the criteria for the specified 200cc motorcycle to ply Lagos roads as provided in the state Road Traffic Law.

The governor spoke while on inspection with members of the state Executive Council to government’s projects in the Badagry area of the state on Thursday.

He said his administration was investing huge resources on infrastructure that would determine the quality of not only the present, but also the future generation.

He said the government could not fund the massive projects in the state by the meagre amount it gets from internally-generated revenue, hence the need to seek bulk funds from other sources.

Fashola said, “You know that IGR will only give us about N300bn.

“We get requests from various communities for roads and other infrastructure.

“When we quantified these requests it was about N750bn, but we couldn’t generate such amount, that’s why we scaled down the budget to N495bn over and above what we can reasonably pursue.

“But we have aspirations and are able to take on greater challenges and that, for me, is part of governance, being audacious and being forward thinking.”

The governor faulted those castigating his government for its debt profile, saying that they were ignorant of the facts and intentions of his government.

He described them as ‘uninformed voodoo economists’, saying the initial N50bn bond his administration took had been paid.

“When we took the bond, many said we had mortgaged the state for 50 years, but we have paid that. The other that we took is due for repayment; the amount in the consolidated debt service account is about N62bn as of December 2012. The liability that we have is N50bn and is not due until 2014, by which time the amount in the debt service account will reduce.”

He said the alarm usually triggered by debt profile should not be based on borrowing but by the ability of such government to pay back, saying the state had shown its capacity to pay back funds borrowed.

On specification requirement for okada, Fashola said, “When you have a 200cc motorcycle as your own form of transport, not public transportation, if you have that, you can ride on any road in Lagos, you don’t need any permission and you don’t need any exemption.

“If you are running courier business, once you have a 200cc, you go to the motor registry, you license it, get your plate number, just as you will license any vehicle, that is all you need, at least for Lagos State Government.”

HNosegbe:

No sir, I disagree. It's not just about "ability to pay back", it's more importantly about the COST OF BORROWING. You need to convince us that the interest rate on these loans is reasonable.

If you doubt me, ask the Federal Government that is currently spending N500 billion per annum on debt servicing.

Why does he need to convince 'you'? When he has convinced me that voted for him so you that didn't vote him to power becomes irrelivant.lol.

The man is saying the truth. IGR and allocations cannot be used to execute project as and when due except you want them to save the fund for about two to three years before doing anything, an approach that I know people will frown at.

You can borrow, and through annuity repayment system, payback and you have a twin benefits of enjoying the investments or capital projects and getting your fund accumulated some where for repayment later, which you can also use for immediate expenditure if the need arises.
Most times world bank loans are cheap especially for 3rd world countries, it is different from credit clubs loans like paris club, london club, etc
He mentioned bond, for people who have financial education, bonds are riskfree loans because they involve only a fixed govt rate, no market rate which banks charge. So Fash is correct.

Intelligent man, always on point.
