babyosisi: Fashola should have dressed in something more professional
His outfit looks out of place at this meeting
They will think he was still in his pajamas
Doesn't he have a nice blazer with regular pants?
There is a time and place for certain outfits,he needs to learn that and adjust.

Finally, Oyibo has finally colonized the brain and culture of some individuals. Why, ab initio, should I wear English dress? We speak English and forget our language, we eat their food to the extent that we call our food local and now, you blame a Yoruba man for wearing his tribal/ cultural dress to host white, how best do you sell your culture. Fashola, you are on point sir.

Some unwise people think they are wise, SMH.

The truth is some us just burst to laughter some times when some individuals make their ignorance public by saying unfounded things about Ibadan. Some of the facts you dont know is Oyo State alone, has a land mass of almost the whole/ all Eastern States-Abia, Ebonyi,Anambra, Imo and Enugu. So, if you just pass Ibadan and conclude you know Ibadan, I tell you, you have missed it. There are 1001 things about Ibadan that you dont know.

OP Stop spreading lies about Ibadan... angry

it is you that is lying. If this is the real Ibadan, then the question is Where is Govt House, UI, UCH, Jericho, COCO House, Broken House aka Femi Johnson, Where is Oluyole Estate, Liberty stadium, Adamasigba stadium, Olubadan stadium, Ibadan tennis club, Alalubosa, Idi ape, Iwo road, Ring road, Sango, Ibadan poly, Eleyele, School of Hygiene, School of Nursing, Molete, Bodija Estate, IITA, IAR&T? etc

Apparently, you dont know Ibadan. The picture you took must be Bere, Oje, which is the village part of Ibadan, and as you can see, the village part has a tared road-lol.

Ibadan is one of the best places in Nigeria- with 3 big stadia, over 3million residents, 11 local government, first University, First teaching hospital-UCH, more than 4 industrial estates, etc.

I miss IB city.

Some people can be funny and make hilarious statements for no reason at times.

You wanted to say the Business Man Bakare, sorry Pastor Bakare, should pay the land tax ASAP or forget about it, Fashola did not make this law, so he who wants to go to equity must go with clean hands, Pastor Bakare should pay his tax now or else, he forgets about building any residential estate.

Or is the estate for charity? No be business? why is he now complaining or he did not plan everything as part of investment before embarking on the project?

Omg!!! LIAR!! WHICH BANKS ARE OWNED BY DELTA IGBOS THAT BANKS OWNED BY YORUBAS ARE NOT BIGGER THAN?

I double dare those banks owned by Delta Igbos to close their branches in Lagos and see if they won't fold up.

You have not been to Lagos. Tell Ben Bruce to go and build his silverbird in Bayelsa and close the Lagos one naa..

You say they pay taxes but don't they make money in Lagos? So they don't make money in Lagos and they'll pay taxes.

No company stationed in Lagos has a plan of leaving in their growth agenda lol.

You are just sipping on hater tonic. How many fucccking companies Niger Deltans get for Lagos wey Yorubas no get bigger ones?? One time you fools want Lagos to be free for all, but y'all quick to call out your sons trained by Lagos to be successful. YES most successful Nigerians need Lagos, Hat some more.

No place in east, North or south will ever be like Lagos. I say that with pride and arrogance. Without Lagos, your successful sons are nothing but civil servants. Lagos brings out the best in you. Other places na dulling una dey.

Your analysis is very perfect:
When Nigeria had 25 banks, about ten (10)of the banks had Yoruba CEO with some other having Yoruba chairmen, only few ones like Oceanic, Zenith, UBA, Fidelity and Finbank were Deltan and Igbo.

People always look for reasons to eaqual Lagos but it can never ever happen. Capital of Nigeria left Lagos since 1992 (21 years ago) yet Lagos is known all over the world more than Abuja. It has been so and so shall it remain.

kettykin: This hypocrit should have rather announced that the state Government will no longer take revenue from oil than come to deceive his gullible followers. Can lagos do without the tax from oil company headquaters in lagos.

Pls dont sya what you dont know. The only tax any company pays to any state govt is PAYE which is from the salary of the staff. No oil company pays tax to Lagos State. There is Petroleum Tax Act (PAT) which is different from other taxes. About 75%of the income of the oil companies is paid as tax to the Fed govt of Nig so invariably it is the Fed govt that collects the tax not state govt.

Do you also know that the oil companies are in joint venture with NNPC, so pls know what you are saying before jibering.

2. Then he couldn't have carried one small black nylon when you are not my house help;

The Governor should have carried out an investigation to ascertain the ACTUAL reason why the pace of work is slow.

You wanted to say he should have set up a committee to look into why the pace is slow for 35 months, almost 3 years, like our dear presido. Later he should also set up another committee to look into what that committee has done and finally another committee to write white paper for the investigation of the first committee before withdrawing the contract.

Pls note that this is what we call SLA (Service Level Agreement) it must have been stated in the contractual agreement ab initio, so no reason for an unnecessary delay. Thank God Mr Fash is a lawyer by profession, he understands 'law of contract very well.

Abeg he is on point.

what the residents want to see is a motorable road and not a bunch of excuses for the delay like somebody (presido)was giving an alibi for corruption the other time. In fact people like Fashola actually saved my psyche because Jonathan would have made me to believe some things are not possible in governance in Nigeria.

Politics / Re: What Can Be Done To Curb Corruption In Nigeria? by kingingkinging: 9:21am On Jan 16, 2013
Reference:

See what I mean. We cannot even agree what corruption is and who is or is not corrupt. How then can you begin to tackle such a phantom. The average Nigerian defines corruption by the threshold of his or her moral standards and this varies from person to person. Every Nigerian thus has a break over point and consequently a pet corruption project he or her tacitly supports or patronises. We are just too hypocritical.

Once again I ask the question. Why is it that with 95% of our economy service driven we claim we donot have the facts of who does what dirty deals. Who processed Akingbola's cash transfers. Who handed Otedola the 600,000
dollars, who designed Orubebe's mansion, who served Otteh the N25,000 prawns, and on and on. Who? Ordinary, everyday folks, victims of the corruption they overtly or covertly abett.

Last year Labour was up in arms calling for the faceless fuel cabals they all know too well, pass them in the corridors everyday and assist in their product round tripping. Yet they live in denial, bankers live in denial, policemen, engineers, doctors, secretaries, the whole lot.

How can you stop corruption when the level of connivance is so deep that the real, honest economy is non existent.

You have good points bro, however, it is better for us to look for precedence and use it to address our issue. Ghana was worse than Nigeria in the late 70's and 80's. I grew up knowing Ghanians in my area and I thought Ghana was a tribe like Igbo or Hausa in Nigeria. They used to be the cobblers, hawkers, puffpuff and other snacks sellers, etc. It was bad for them that they could not stay in Ghana, their sport men and women were playing for Nigeria, IICC Shooting star ( Edward Answer was the No 1 keeper for Leventis FC).
The solution came immediatelly all the corrupt leaders were killed.
The Ghanians left Nigeria and now Nigerians are rushing to Ghana for schooling, business, holiday, investments, enjoy power supply, etc. It is now Nigeria must go instead of Ghana must go in the 80's. Why- LEADERSHIP.
1. LAW MAKING IS CORRUPT,
2. LAW ENFORCEMENT IS CORRUPT;
3. EXECUTIVE ARM IS CORRUPT;
4. JUDICIARY IS CORRUPT;

We only one good thing in Nigeria- Good leaders.

My conclusion: EVERY SOCIETY HAS THE TENDENCY TO BE CORRUPT AND LAWLESS, BUT THE ONUS IS UNEQUIVOCALLY ON THE LEADERSHIP TO MAKE THE WRONG RIGHT.

I want to respond not because you post story was reasonable but to make known your hidden agenda for writing this article.

1.Your two examples above are too shallow to make conclusion on any issue;
2.Ezogwu's coup was not totally successful has he was unable to achieve his aim, but such action in Ghana has a positive result Jerry Rawlings killed all the corrupt leaders and you can see Ghana today, a model country in Africa. Ghana is now a reference point of an ideal African setting.
3. Gen Buhari did not plan the 1983 coup and was not part of the coup but was invited to lead having discovered his good and faithful attitude in the Nigerian Army, a condition/ trait he displayed within the short period. He has a sheet, if not clean totally, that is better than others before and after him including the most corrupt of them GEJ-fuel susbsidy, pension, immigration,NNPC, etc.
4. You cannot do image laundry for GEJ, I voted for him so you are not in a better position to preach him to us. the truth is he is not cut out to lead. He is a faithful and good follower. He should support people who can lead. We are tired of people who are not really ready for leadership but got there by circumstance. Nigeria is a complex state and she needs a leader tah is intellectually capable of such.
5. It is only a dull person that will conclude that Nigeria is not utterly corrupt even the blind can feel it, we need serious minded person that will not be afraid of the Madueke's, Oteh's, Patience's,Faruoks, Otedola's, Ngozi's.
I therefore, put to you if a Ribadu as president or Buhari would not do better in fighting corruption. Pls be frank and objective.

talktimi: Nigerians forget easily that's why its easy for them to be trampled upon(minus me sha).
No fuel price increase can be taken in Nigeria without the knowledge of the NLC & TUC hierachy loooooong before the prices are increased because they are amongst those who determine what is a "fair" price to Nigerians and they also have their cut on every liter of petroleum product sold in the country, in fact the decision to increase the price of petroleum products come january 2012 had been reached way back october/november 2011 and it was in the news although most Nigerians prefer watching paloma & super story than watching the news. That's also one of the reasons I laughed cheesy when the labour unions decided to "negotiate" something they'd agreed upon tey tey just to deceive gullible Nigerians and guess what ? It worked like magic with a caveat (complete subsidy removal by april 2012) the NLC/TUC agreed patapata. I guess you all missed that part too butdont worry the govt go soon remind una this year when the new financial year resumes by maybe march/april.
ALL GOVERNORS in Nigeria ACTUALLY steam rolled the FG into the removal of petroleum subsidy, we all know the governors are in a very powerful fraternity called the "Governors Forum" which have their stooges in the national assembly with said stooges having the power to cause countless headaches eg impeachment proceedings against the presidency. Well these governors including ACN o, APGA o, LP o including PDP decide they need more money to "develop" their respective states and the only way to get such money in abundance is by the total removal of petroleum subsidy so any governor who came out to support any of you protesters just dey play una wayo. If they really hated the FG's decision, they could have rejected any surplus additions to their regular monthly allocations in that spirit.
What we should be asking ourselves now is why can't our beloved national assembly members reduce their emoluments by at least 3 quarters after all they work part time. That's a protest I will support.
What have our respective governors been doing with the SURE - P money they've been receiving since january/february 2012 ? Let's start throwing the stones in our respective homes before going to Abuja.
I believe subsidy MUST go but only after we have functional refineries sha.

Well said bro.

And after we have completely overhauled our system by getting rid of the cancer called corruption how how do we explain a skyroketted increase from N300b since 1999 to 2009 only for GEJ to come and turn it to 1.7trillion. Toooooo muccccchhhhh.
