afam4eva: Awo's greatest achievement as far as popular knowledge has it is the introduction of FREE education. Other parts of Nigeria may not have had a FREE educational programmer at that time but there's a sort of parity in education in all the zones in the south. You now have more educated people in Imo, Anambra and Delta which is probably not what was obtained back in the days during the days of Awolowo. It means the SW politicians have failed in their duty to pick up from where Awo left off. The only time they remember him is when they want to sway voters.
What of the television you watch in your house. Azikwe forgot that you would need one, Ojukwu could not dream of one, in fact he was a small boy then, Okpara was sharing the money when the greatttttttt Awo brought it in 1959 before Nigeria's independence, first in Africa, about 15 years after USA started watching tv. You just want to hear your bad history. Also remember everyday u hold a naira, it is a legacy of Chief Awo. Omoale.

Tomorrow you will say they hate you family and tribe, why wont they? How can you say Lagos is no man's land. Is Anambra, Imo, Enugu no man's land?

Have u ever read the history of Lagos? Maybe because it is now called Lagos, you thought it is in the same class with Abuja, I am sorry for you.

Lagos is purely and totally a Yoruba land and pls dont take the hospitality of the people as stupidity otherwise.... you get that?

This is because there is no leader that Nigeria has ever produced that has displayed the level of good leadership and sagacity that can match his.
1. He conquered war for Nigeria for almost 3 years without borrowing a kobo. Even now that there is no war in Nigeria, all the states and federal government are borrowing.
2. He started free and compulsory education in Nigeria without borrowing.
3. He industrialized his region with Odua group of companies- Premier Hotel, Lafia Hotel, Nigeria Wire and Cable, Nigerite (odua invested into it), etc. He brought Coca cola to Nigeria, etc.
4. He initiated the first regional university-University of Ife.
5. He started housing estate in the west.
etc.

Mention what your leader achieve that can equal the aforementioned( dont forget- 1st TV, First Standard stadium, first skye scraper, etc even before Nigeria as a whole could think of it.

I must go there and study. I really like Chief Awo. So sound, so shrewd. 25 yrs after his death , the Igbos still live in the paranoid of his existence. He brought civilization to Nigeria through TV, education, investment, sport and vision.

I think the best thing to imortalize him is the Naira we spend today. He coined the word Naira.

Great Awo.

Because there is a difference btw fact and fiction. In other words, there is a wide difference between the ideal (which is a fiction and what most ladies usually want in their dreams, read in novels, prince charming that will never come, etc) and the reality which is that hardworking guy but with no job, handsome but stubborn guy, brilliant but dirty guy, etc

You now need to be wise enough to trade some things for the other for example you can choose a hardworking guy who does not have money today but with good vision who can have enough tomorrow over that 'big boy' without any plan about the future.

Lagos Joins 20 Global Cities

Lagos State

Lagos State was yesterday listed among the 20 global cities in the world.

The cities that made the lists would be committed to implementing innovation to improve the lives of 121 million citizens.

The announcement, which was contained in a survey released by LLGA|Cities Pilot, noted that the programme was aimed at discovering and implementing the most promising solutions that meet pressing social and urban challenges.

A statement by the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Adebiyi Mabadeje, said over the coming 18 months, the initiative would evaluate about 1,000 submissions and implement real-life pilots in all partner cities to improve the quality of life in the cities.

Participating cities vary in population size from less than 100,000 to 21 million. The cities that made to top lists include, Aalborg, Barcelona, Boston, Christchurch, Eindhoven, Fukuoka DC, L’Hospitalet, Lagos, Lavasa, London, Mexico, Oulu, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Rosario, San Francisco, Sant Cugat, Sheffield, Tacoma, Terrassa and York.

Challenges are presented by global cities – in partnership with Oracle, the UN Global Compact Cities Programme and The Climate Group – in areas such as mobility, economic development, social inclusion, health and wellbeing, urban management, lighting, energy, culture, future government and sustainable lifestyles.

“For year 2013 presentation, Lagos is seeking solutions to deliver content seamlessly in bandwidth-challenged environments to provide access to the social and economic benefits of Internet.

“In the past three editions, LLGA has attracted 1,519 entries from 70 countries. By providing systematic market intelligence to decision-makers in cities, the programme has proven to help cities discover innovative solutions that reach citizens three times faster with 80 per cent lower spending,” the statement added.

Speaking on the awards, Mabadeje, who is also the Chairman Lagos Innovation Advisory Council, said: “ We are once again participating in this programme which seeks to promote innovation in service delivery by tapping into the more than seven billion potential innovators worldwide and hope LLGA will realise the solution that will best resolve our city’s challenge”.

RomanceRe: Do You Consider Height A Major Issue In Choosing A Partner? by kingingkinging: 4:27pm On Nov 19, 2012
Height can be an issue to some people but what matters most is the 'key factor' to you.
If the height is all that you need and other matters does not count to u then no problem. I have discovered that as our finger prints differ, so also no two marriages are same.

I have once left a lady because of her height, then I could die because of virginity, but despite the fact that I was told by her and her elder sis that she was a virgin yet I left her, a good girl for that matter but my main facinating factor was absent in her hence my reason for leaving her.

But pls, if she is not a short, 'very shor girl' depending on your own height, you can go ahead.

If one marries a bad woman, then one will know that all these factors are as ephemeral as anything, a model-like lady that slaps your mum, fails to care for you and children, nagging, promiscous, etc will only give you hypertension, cardiac arrest, high blood pressure, divorce, etc.
Pls think very well.

PoliticsRe: SW Leaders Led By Tinubu Do Not Want Regionalism, Shamelessly Prefer Status Quo by kingingkinging: 7:41pm On Nov 14, 2012
ndu_chucks: It appears to me that Tinubu and other ACN goons, who by all accounts, are the leaders of the SW, and who run most of the states in the SW, have no desire whatsoever for the progress of our country. One would think that the same people who have been clamoring for Regional Integration, would be at the forefront of the battle to improve upon our current system of government, which desperately needs elements of Regionalism and true Federalism, even if their components are introduced piecemeal.

When it is politically useful for them, these irresponsible leaders, who are only after concessions, buying up State land and selling those choice land to their cronies, will be screaming for Sovereign National Conference. As soon as the opportunity for real constitutional changes present themselves, these leaders go into hiding and flood the media in the SW with news which talk about every issue except the important ones of real constitutional changes.

I will leave the writing of an epistle to people like Gbawe, so I will be brief here.

Every well meaning group has made several submissions to the NASS committee on constitutional review. I am most impressed by the submission of Ohaneze’s because it provided a very practical blueprint for Regionalism and Federalism. You’d think that the SW leaders would team up with such groups and apply real pressure on NASS, inform the people, and even organize peaceful demonstrations in support of Regionalism and true Federalism.
I submit to you that these SW leaders are nothing but frauds and I ask you: Where is their call for Regionalism which would actually make their current clamor for Regional Integration a moot point huh

Ohaneze's Submission To NASS – Worth Reading
It is apparent you are an Igbo person. An avreage Igbo person lacks home training, no apologies to any Igbo man dead and alive. Imagine who ever you are using those words up there to drive your point. Dont you know you have lost from the beginning?

Look at your post-SW leaders led by Tinubu .....shamelessly prefer status quo).... I can see why you are the most marginalized.

ochallo: you are totally clueless, if you live in lagos, you would know that there is an increase in crime rates since the ban , and when the masses are unemployed, illegal/ fradulent businesses thrive, that is the meaning of " getting a gun".
I get marvelled at times when some of our people contribute to some issues. Are you people saying Gov Fashola should have allowed Lagos to become a dumping ground for the Okada riders from Cross river, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Abuja, etc before he acts.He should be watching as some people were following cows to Lagos with their bikes never to return again, all int the name of creating jobs for Nigerians?
So, all the people who lost their jobs over their, have they become criminals now? The last time I checked, Mr Fashola is not the president of Nigeria and it is apparent is the class governor for all the gov in terms of innovations.
Leave this man. Eko o ni baje oo.
RomanceRe: Can You Date A Lady More Intelligent Than You? by kingingkinging: 1:40pm On Nov 13, 2012
chronique: There's no way a lady will be more intelligent than a guy in all ramifications(except the guy is a total dummy). Ladies are mostly more intelligent than men when it comes to academics but not logic. A man is naturally more intelligent than a woman logically. Women dont often approach issues from a logical point of view;they actually deal with issues based on feelings & emotions. Apart from a man's physical strength, natural intelligence(or logic as you'd like to call it),is what makes men superior to women. When couples have issues & the man is tryna show his superiority(even when he's wrong),and the woman decides to calm things down by allowing him have his way @ dat moment,it shows how intelligent she is cos @ d end of d day,she might be able to subtly win him over later & show him what's right. A foolish woman would argue n strive n fight until d relationship hits d rock... A woman can never be totally more intelligent in every ramification(except the man is a complete dummy).
You are correct.
SportsMessi Passes Pele's Goals In One Calendar Year by kingingkinging(op): 9:38am On Nov 12, 2012
Messi passes Pele's goals in one year as Barca wins
Lionel Messi surpassed Pele's milestone of goals in a calendar year by scoring for the 75th and 76th time in 2012 to move within nine of Gerd Mueller's all-time record as Barcelona won 4-2 at Mallorca in the Spanish league. Xavi Hernandez unlocked Mallorca's defense with a free kick in
the 28th minute before Messi struck in the 44th. Cristian Tello added a third goal a minute later at Iberostar stadium on Sundya.
After Mallorca netted twice early in the second half to breathe life into the match, Messi stepped up to score again the 70th to ensure victory as Barcelona rebounded from its loss at Celtic in the Champions League.
"Leo's records are spectacular" said Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova.
"It's spectacular when you think that he scores so many goals. Some few players reach these numbers in seven or eight seasons, he does it in one. And most of his goals are great goals."
This is the latest scoring feat for the Argentina forward, one of the leading candidates for the Ballon D'Or. Messi scored 73 goals in the 2011-12 season for Barcelona, breaking the previous European club record of 67 goals set by Mueller in 1972-73.
He also set a Spanish league record of 50 goals last season and broke Cesar Rodriguez's 57-year milestone of 232 goals to become Barcelona all-time leading scorer.
Barcelona's 10th win in 11 rounds extended its club-record start and opened up a provisional 11-point gap over third-place Madrid ahead of its game at Levante.
Also, second-place Atletico Madrid stayed three points behind the pacesetters by easing past visiting Getafe 2-0 thanks to goals by Adrian Lopez and Arda Turan.
Joaquin Caparros' Mallorca tried to follow Celtic's defensive blueprint from Wednesday's upset in Glasgow.
But the strategy didn't last even half an hour.
Xavi Hernandez took full advantage of a foul earned by Cesc Fabregas on the edge of the area. The Spain midfielder bent a beautiful free kick over the defensive barrier that turned goalkeeper Dudu Aouate into yet another spectator as it fell into his net.
"Both Xavi's opener and Leo's goal to make it 4-2 were the turning points to the match," said Gerard Pique, who made his first start for Barcelona since injuring his foot in September.
Messi converted Barcelona's 75 percent of possession into a deserved second goal when the Argentina forward dribbled by several defenders and unleashed a left footed-shot that Aouate let slip through his hands.
Tello then quickly made it 3-0 by curving a strike from outside the area into the far side of the goal.
When it appeared Barcelona would cruise to the comfortable victory, two errors allowed Mallorca to get back into the game.
Mallorca's Michael Pereira pulled one back in the 55th after Javier Mascherano lost the ball. Two minutes later, Victor Casadesus made it 3-2 from the penalty spot following Sergio Busquets' handball in the box.
But Messi received a chested pass from Alexis Sanchez and smashed the ball into the top corner to restore Barcelona's two-goal advantage and crush Mallorca's hopes.
Messi's seventh double of the season increased his league-leading tally to 15 goals. He has 20 in all competitions this season.
Pele scored 75 goals for Brazil and Santos in 1958. Mueller had 85 in 1972 for West Germany and Bayern Munich.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Athletic Bilbao beat visiting Sevilla 2-0 for its first back-to-back wins of the season, while 10-man Valencia stayed winless away this season after drawing 1-1 at Valladolid.

She can do it in an implied way. But mainly, it depends on the guy. You life is in phases and men are in sizes. Some might respect her for this and some may feel somehow. I know of a friend who has never asked a lady out in his life. His friend and family members have always been the ones doing the talking/matchmaking for him. A nice and reliable guy but just shy to ask a lady out.So such guys would appreciate such. It depends on different factors.
RomanceRe: True Life Situation.. A Test Case Of Morality & Reality by kingingkinging: 6:23pm On Nov 02, 2012
There is always a relativity to every case. Let us view the following:
1. Is the boyfriend just a sleeping patner?
2. Is the boyfriend her Fiance?
3. is the boyfriend just a companion ( not yet defined the relationship)?

If he is the Fiance, sleeping with her boss may cause a problem in the future (ripple of the past) but if just a sleeping partner, nothing is wrong provided. Remember she is a sinner already and an average lady is a potential...

But the best is being desciplined, u cant be sleeping around now. Que sera sera-what will be will be. U may not get a N350,000 today but start a business of N3.5b tomorrow.

How can Yoruba be cowards?
1. We moved the motion Nigeria independence-read yoru histroy book-Enahoro(Edo) and Awolowo ijebu.
2. We are the only region tackling the ruling power since 1960 till today-is there PDP in the SW?
3. We are the only region where the new things are initiated-1st television in Africa, 1st international standard stadium, 1st university, 1st regional university, most industrialized, most sophisticated and advanced, 1st light rail, 1st dedicated BRT lanes, you can never meet us. Otondo.
We always think before we act. If Yoruba decides to leave tomorrow, I can tell you there would be no shedding of blood, just by getting a referendum signed by all stakeholders, but your stupid selfish leaders would waste millions of your men and run to Ivory coast, London, Amaerica, and be shouting Awolowo, Tinubu, Obasanjo, etc from there forgetting about their senselessness. The painful part is you children are not also wise.
Now Yoruba has gone back to Agriculture, building army through native intelligence (OPC), keeping our oil and Bitumen(Ondo,Ogun and Lagos), keeping our gold (Ilesha, etc).
Tomorrow you will start shouting marginalization. Bunch of unwise people, only to blame others for their foolishness.
Christianity EtcRe: How Did You Become A Christian Or Muslim? by kingingkinging: 7:09pm On Nov 01, 2012
bokohalal: The true Abrahamic faiths are Judaism and Islam. Christianity is really not. If Jesus was a Jew you should be one too.
Jesus did not bring religion. He brought salvation and solution to human problem-love. The greatest law is love. It was in Antioch that people firstly called his disciples Christians because their ways of life was unique and christ-like.

He brought only LOVE and HIS CHURCH-You are Peter, on this I will build my church and the gate of hell shall not prevail.
Hallulujah-JESUS LIVESSSSSSSS
Christianity EtcRe: How Did You Become A Christian Or Muslim? by kingingkinging: 1:31pm On Nov 01, 2012
zaboy: I was born into an Islamic family, and i am still a muslim. However, i took time to study both Islam and Christianity (since they are the 2 major religions in nigeria). I studied their scriptures and histories as well. The original message of Jesus christ is no different from that of Mohammad really, however, the christianity practiced today is nowhere near what Jesus preached. Christian scholars say only 20% of the present bible is actually God's words, the rest are just inventions by writers.
You are correct by saying the original message of Jesus is not fully practiced-we are growing into perfection, on to the full measure of the stature of Christ, so no problem, we shall be there. But about the message of Christ and Mohammed being same, you are outrightly wrong. Check from the following areas:
1. Christ did not not preach Poligamy-Mohammed did;
2. Christ did not preach vengeance-Mohammed did eye for eye-Sharia Law. In fact, Jesus said if you are slapped at the right cheek, turn the left and he practised that when Peter cut the ear of one of his attackers.
3. Christ did not fight any war, he hated shedding of blood- Mohammed fought, killed and initiated Boko Haram (just joking);
4. Mohammed turned the story of Abraham by claiming Ishmael was the child that was offered for sacrifice instead of Isaac.
so many differences.
