I asked a mechanic who has been servicing my Honda baby boy to service it's gear and engine having realised the atf was not totally pure as I could see some black particles when dropping some on a white paper and the engine oil was due for service. He finished and brought it home after which I discovered the gear was not selecting at all. for any of the gears to work, I would av to press throttle very well for it to move and the moment I take away my leg from the throttle, it will not move again. Be it reverse or any of the Ds. This was never the case before I gave him the car to service. I discovered he made use of one atf called amco dextron iii when I've been using seahorse dextron for a yr now. Can anything be done? Is it only a gear problem? I need answers , pls. This happened today.

hello house, my C class 2001 W203 sometimes lags.

I've changed the Air mass sensor, done scanning, serviced the six nozzles but the problem still occurs once in a while.

I've come to understand that most mechanics don't have a clue as to what is wrong with the car.

I will be grateful if anyone can recommend a good Benz mechanic for me in Abuja.

My profession is not auto engineering, however I am very familiar with the power plants fitted into Mercedes Benz V8 cars that date back to the period often referred to as the Golden Age of Mercedes, namely from 1983 to 1998, when those cars were built from a purely engineering standpoint, and with no expense spared in the pursuit of performance, precision handling and raw power. I must correct a typographical error in my earlier response. The members of the W126 family of Mercedes fitted with V8 engines utilized the M117 engine, and not the later released M119 as I stated above. Specifically your 1988 Merc 500 SEC is powered by the M117.968 five-liter engine. The recommendation to replace the timing chain and upper plastic chain guides is still correct for the M117 motor, and you can expect to get an average of 6 years trouble-free motoring each time you replace the chain and its associated guides, assuming your commute averages about 10 thousand miles per year. Despite this small inconvenience, the M117 and M119 engines are widely regarded as THE most reliable and powerful engines EVER to roll of the Mercedes assembly line since the dawn of the automotive age.

Personally i believe this Mercedes hype is just because it's Mercedes... but come to think of it(neglecting the balancing at top speed issue), it's a German engine and that's what i love about it.. zero down time error if properly maintained.. but the HL can just decide to mess you up in the middle of nowhere (speaking out of sad experiences)..
