The Mzough-U-Tiv (MUT), a Tiv socio-cultural group has said that Benue’s militia leader, Terwase Akwaza alias Gana was extra-judicially murdered by the military.

President General of the organization, Chief Iorbee Ihagh, a retired Comptroller of Prisons described Gana’s killing as condemnable and a conspiracy against the Tiv tribe.

“This is extra judicial murder and MUT calls for a commission of inquiry into the killing. This is a conspiracy against the Tiv tribe.

“Why do you kill somebody who has voluntarily surrendered? It happened in south south, southwest, Niger-delta and other places and nothing happened.

He would have been taken to court and tried instead of just wasting him in that manner.

Ihagh noted that the deceased militia warlord was in the same vehicle with a Reverend Father and his council chairman when he was arrested by the military and subsequently killed.

“The military should stop lying that there was a shootout because there was nothing like that,” The MUT President General stated.

He urged the military to release those other repentant youths who were arrested along with Gana so that they can continue with the amnesty program.

MASSOB founder and leader of BIM(Biafran Independence Movement), Chief Ralph Uwazurike, has released a video below to celebrate 21 years since he founded MASSOB and started the agitation for Biafra.

Choosing to speak in Igbo language, Uwazurike said that he founded MASSOB on 13th of September 1999. He said he was a boy during the Biafran war and was running around with his family from one place to the other as the war raged. After the war ended and he began Secondary School, he was intrigued to learn about Mahatma Ghandi, the man who got independence for India using non violent means. His admiration for Ghandi was one of the reasons he travelled to India to study law and was later called to the Nigerian Bar.

Uwazurike said that he was practising law in Lagos in the early 90's when OPC started killing non indiigenes all over Lagos. Him and other Igbos reached out to Ojukwu to intervene which led to him meeting Ojukwu for the first time. Ojukwu came to Lagos to negotiate with Yoruba leaders to stop the killings by OPC.

He grew very close to Ojukwu over the years and when Ojukwu took his wife Bianca to America to have a baby in 1999, he founded MASSOB while Ojukwu was away. He said that Ojukwu was very angry when he returned from America and heard that MASSOB had been formed, but he gave his blessings when he learnt it was for non violent means.

Uwazurike said that he had been arrested, tortured and detained numerous times over the years. He had been kept in several prisons all over Nigeria and charged to court for various crimes linked with his agitation for Biafra, but he remained undaunted about the realisation of Biafra for the Igbos

He asked all the Biafran groups out there to speak with one voice. He ended by telling Igbos that Nigeria was already dead and that Biafra was just a matter of time.

Why is it that people keep thinking that Oil and access to the sea is everything? Both of them did not help Nigeria much

Ethiopia does not have both but is doing well
Botswana does not have both but is doing well

Lesotho and Swaziland dont have both but they are surviving

So why this obsession with Oil and acess to the sea when there are many examples of countries in Africa, and indeed the world, that are doing better than Nigeria despite not having both?

Besides all 5 South East has oil in commercial quantities and an even bigger quantity of Gas, which is the future.

They also have access to sea via international waterways

Dont make me laugh. Doing a protest for Oduduwa Republic once in 6 months does not show any seriousness about wanting independence.

How is IPOB lawless? What have they done wrong? Its the Nigerian security forces that provoke them by going to shoot unarmed people. Did IPOB do 1% of what OPC did? OPC was an armed group that went about killing people in the 90's

Gowon created Rivers state, but in doing so, the Federal government became far more powerful than it was when it was just 4 Regions. Gowon abolished resource, put all the Oil wealth in the hands of the Federal government and shared the proceeds of Oil the way it liked

While people like Saro Wiwa was jumping that Rivers State was created, their Oil wealth was stolen right before their eyes and their land was impoverished.


When the scale fell off Ken Saro Wiwa's eyes that he had become a Northern slave, he formed MOSOP to fight the injustice being done to his Ogoni people. He was promptly arrested, tried and executed.

I think that in his final moments, Ken Saro Wiwa finally realised that his real enemies were not the Igbos, but it was too late

One thing I have always wondered is what tye criteria is for being Igbo? How do you identify an Igbo person?

There are three things that makes a person Igbo

1. Your ancestral language must be Igbo

2. Your ancestral surname, or family name(if you have changed your surname for some reason) must be Igbo

3. You must be indigenous to Southern Nigeria, Igbos are only indigenous to Southern Nigeria although some are indigenous to the lower Benue

So when one looks at these 3 points, one can see that there is no difference between Nsukka, Ikwerre, Anioma, Ngwa, Oru, Ohuhu and the rest of them.

You have still not answered why Ekweme ever contested the PDP primary with Obasanjo if we have to believe you that the ticket was conceded to Yorubas over June 12.
If anything, Obasanjo was the candidate of the the Igbos and Northerners in that election hence he ruled on behalf of Igbos who till today still dub him a hero. Likewise, Igbos also ruled again through Jonathan whom they declared as their adopted son in the build up to the 2011 and 2015 elections.
Igbos didn't care that Jonathan actually usurped their turn in 2011 so why the hue and cry now? The South-South too needs to complete their remaining four years first before Igbos will be considered if at all. Igbos have always cried over Jonathan's 2015 loss more than the SS which own him, so it therefore becomes a moral question of walking the talk for Igbos to support the SS' 2023 bid to complete their remaining four years for which Igbos have cried more than the bereaved since 2015 till date.

Yeah of course. Obasanjo from the SW was the candidate of the SE. Jonathan from the SS was the candidate of the SE. Even Buhari and late Yaradua were candidates of the SE. Since 1999 the SE has been ruling Nigeria through different people
