Onlinesmart:You Nigerians make me laugh. You watch your federal government basterdise the rule of law, commit human rights abuse and turn the constitution on its head. There is nothing Nnamdi Kanu is doing that is not already covered by the Nigerian constitution or international law Nigeria is signatory to. Anyone or any group is allowed to protest or agitate for independence. Wether that agitation brings about independence does not come into it, what matters is that they are allowed to do it. If anyone feels that Kanu or IPOB are verbal abusing them, they should feel free to explore legal means and go to court. Verbal abuse is not a criminal offense The security agents have been shooting and killing unarmed IPOB protesters long before IPOB was procribed in 2017, the Amnesty International report of 2016 that detailed the killing of 150 unarmed IPOB is still online for all to see. Then the Nigerian government prescribes IPOB in 2017, the first time in history that an unarmed organisation is declared a terrorist group. Meanwhile, armed killer herdsmen that are killing thousands of Nigerians each year are offered Ruga settlement Granted that the Federal government has proscribed IPOB, does that give the security agents to go about killing unarmed people that are identified as IPOB? It does not. Even killing an unarmed enemy Soldier in war is a war crime covered by the Geneva convention. Nothing justifies the killing of unarmed people. The reality is that the federal government and its security forces have disregarded the constitution, commited extra-judicial murder and human rights abuses. Its a tragedy because if government cannot uphold the law, then who can? |
Ojiofor:Yes government took the verbal threats of unarmed people very serious but is rehabilitating armed Boko haram members back into society and rolling out Ruga programmes for armed killer herdsmen who murder Nigerians everyday ![]() |
Ojiofor:Nobody is dying for Nnamdi Kanu, people are dying because the security forces left their role of being protectors of life to become killers of life. Pro-democracy activists, Biafran agitators, occupy Nigeria, Shite protesters, have all been killed just because the security agents did not like what they are protesting about. Very soon, you will hear the same about revolution now protesters. The larger picture here which Nigerians fail to see is that it does not matter if a group is proscribed or not, protesting against government, which is a right, now attracts a death warrant. Freedom of expression has been taken away from Nigerians using state terror. What is the point of democracy when people can no longer air their grievances without risk of being shot an killed? Its a tragedy |
Its going to take a lot to get Anambra out of the grip of APGA that have held it for 16 years |
NDA takes in just about 200 people from over 50,000 that seat for the exam each year. Of that 200, many run away within the first year when they realise that military is not for them |
We all know what is going on. A section of the country that now dominates the security services do not want Igbo youth to have any voice of dissent to Federal Government |
IboWolf:What shocks most Igbos even more is how anyone can subscribe to a 'one Nigeria' where Boko haram, ISWAP and killer herdsmen are murdering people daily |
CreekCommando:Would you rather the youth listened to the Governors and Ohanaeze that have stood by while they are massacred by herdsmen in their own land? Kanu isnt a degenerate, he is only highlighting the failed country where people are massacred with impunity while the authorities do nothing To add to that, we have gross human rights abuse incompetence of the security forces who going about killing people in an area where there was peace before they came |
Ojiofor:Oh you wanted Nnamdi Kanu to stay put while the assassination team of Soldiers the Nigerian government sent his house to kill him completed their evil mission? Nice one The story of Nigeria is the killing of unarmed people and it will never change. If it is not Boko haram shooting you from the back, its the Nigerian Army/Police shooting you from the front, if its not ISWAP shooting you from the left, its killer herdsmen shooting you from the right. Life means nothing in Nigeria So I hope Igbos get Biafra one day, where nobody is shooting anyone from any direction unless absolutely necessary and only as last resort. |
MelesZenawi:Same goes for every Governor in Nigeria |
Tunde Ednut isnt saying a anything new. Many Nigerians dont want an Igbo man to President, not just about Biafra, but because they dont trust or like Igbos. Thats understandable, I dont expect everyone in the world to like Igbos what we Igbos dont understand is why you want us in 'one Nigeria' when you dont trust us?? Many people such as Tunde Ednut are far more interested in keeping 'one Nigeria' for the sake of keeping one Nigeria, and not for the sake of if it means anything |
Area4Area:The Fulani man who wants to protect his 'one Nigeria' emirate. |
Ojiofor:To be looking at Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB is to miss the point. The point here is that some of Igbos are tired of the failure called Nigeria. Some of us want Nigerians to know that we are not happy with Nigeria. I personally want Igbo land to be an independent country. The only people who have been able to convey this message to Nigeria is IPOB. I cannot look at Nigeria that is poverty capital of the world with several terrorist groups like Boko haram, ISWAP and killer herdsmen who are all armed murdering people all across the country and I say this is the dream country I wish for myself and my children. So for those of us who have lost fate in Nigeria, those of us who want Igbo land to be an independent self governing country, IPOB is not the enemy. When IPOB are shot and killed, when they are arrested and tortured, it is a reminder of what Nigeria stands for, suffering, oppression and death. IPOB are just people who have refused to sit down and accept the stark reality of a Nigeria that has already failed. Its not easy to believe in Biafra and be prepared to stand up for it, even at the risk of being killed or tortured. Only God knows that there are very few Nigerians, if any, that will be prepared to stand for Nigeria at the cost of their lives |
Ugwuanyi is wasting time. He should convene a high powered independent panel that will investigate and find out how people lost their lives |
Ojiofor:I dont think people understand what is going on here. If people do not learn to stand against injustice and oppression then the zoo that IPOB called Nigeria is a compliment. Do people think this an IPOB situation? This is about the fact that government and its security agencies have left the law and are doing the opposite of what they should be doing. The entity that has the greatest duty to preserve life and uphold the law is government and its security agencies, not Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB. Why would a government that is supposed to be saving lives be the one that is sending Soldiers to and kill an unarmed Nnamdi Kanu in his house? Why would a professional security force still be stripping people they arrest naked in this 21st century? Why would a security agent be searching someones phone when no law authorises them to do so? Why would anyone be arresting anybody over Biafran paraphernalia when no law bans it? This lawlessness that people see today and condone because it is IPOB is the lawlessness government will continue. In the future, anyone who government or the security agents dont like his face will receive the same treatment that that people see IPOB get but condone. |
Ojiofor:But it is the federal government that is unnecessarily killing people |
TheRareGem1:While his fellow Igbos are still part of Nigeria, everything about Nigeria concerns him |
Whiteangel1234:That is lawlessness. The Police have no right to search anyones phone, secondly, there is no place it says in the constitution of Nigeria that to have Biafran pictures on your phone is a crime. This is highly condemnable |
Whiteangel1234:But its not Nnamdi Kanu doing the killing is it? One of the primary duties of government is to protect life but it is the government that is busy killing unarmed people. Biafran paraphernalia has been existing for over 50 years, long before there was Nnamdi Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB, now people are arrested for having them. What was banned was IPOB, not Biafran agitation. This is just state sponsored terrorism to silence a people who are exercising their freedom of expression and it will backfire because oppression only begets defiance |
Reminds me of what Ramsey Noah said about when he went to get his first Nigerian passport, they put him through hell and back to prove he is a Nigerian a d is mixed race. Only God knows what they would do to someone who of foreign descent. What I think is that Nigerians of foreign descent have already seen how the various indigenous tribes of Nigeria are fighting each other politically and they already know that the politics of Nigeria is no go area for them for now. The indigenous tribes are yet to see them selves as 'one Nigeria', what hope does the Nigerian of foreign decent have? |
Everybody knows what this government is doing in relation to IPOB. They dont like IPOBs agitation so they tried to give a Dog a bad name to kill it. What the authorities do is to go and shoot unarmed people so as to provoke a violent reaction, then they blame the violence on IPOB. But unfortunately for them, this is the age of social media where exchange information as it happens so that people are always closer to the truth. The government is not fooling anyone in their attempt to make IPOB look like a terrorist organisation |
The authorities say IPOB are armed, yet nobody has ever seen IPOB with arms except the authorities The authorities say IPOB is a terrorist group, yet nobody in the East is terrified of IPOB except the authorities The authorities say IPOB are violent, yet the only violence attributed to IPOB always starts with the authorities being present. A time comes when you have to ask, 'Is IPOB the problem or the authorities?' |
Obamaofusa:Yorubas are funny people. You are hosting who? How can you host a person in their own country? If anyone feels they are tolerating Igbos in Nigeria let them feel free to join the agitation for Biafra |
"One Nigeria" is joke! Igbo land must become an independent country no matter what. The rest of you can carry on with your miserably failed 'one Nigeria' |
Armed Police were disarmed by unarmed people? How? The commissioner of Police Enugu state, Ahmed Abdulrahman, knows he is in big trouble over how handled the fracas in Emene, Enugu, that led to people being shot for no necessary reason. His disgraceful interview with the press where he was trying to get 5 boys to admit they have arms was a huge embarrassment. He even said that IPOB was learning martial arts to fight the Federal government with Kung fu lol. Now he is spinning every story he can to make it look like IPOB is armed. Who stockpiles arms by snatching guns? If IPOB wanted guns, they would contribute money and buy it on the black market This Police commissioner is a disgrace. Lie after lie. |
athaboi:You dont know what the North is afraid of? They are afraid of losing political control of Nigeria and thats what restructuring will mean. |
Governor Ugwuanyi must shelve all sentiments and constitute and independent, unbiased panel to look into what happened in Emene, Enugu, on the 23rd of this month. Several people are dead and there is accusations abd counter-accusation. One I can say is that residents of Enugu are seeing this attack on IPOB in a different light. They believe that a certain section of the country that dominates the security agencies of Nigeria are using the proscription of IPOB as a licence to kill Igbo youths. |
