This is extra-judicial killing, there is no justification for killing someone who has already surrendered to the authorities.

They should rather tell Security Operatives not to shoot unarmed Igbo youths.
They should understand that IPOB is a proscribed group hence telling DSS not to shoot IPOB is like telling DSS not to shoot a proscribed group which Govt has declared a threat to National security.

They should remove the IPOB tag in their protest and just say unarmed Igbo youths.
As long as IPOB remains proscribed they will always clash with security operatives.

Proscription does not mean denying a person their right to life, only a barbarian will support the shooting of unarmed people who do not pose any clear and present danger. Even in war, the international law of the Geneva convention makes it a war crime for a Soldier to kill an unarmed enemy Soldier.

The proscription of IPOB was laughable because it was the first time in history that an unarmed group can were declared terrorists. What were they terrorising people with? Their flag?

The facts in the report are clear.

1. Innocent, unarmed Northerners were attacked in the East and killed by armed Eastern youths.

2. The only reason that they offered to vindicate IPOB isn't that the killers were not IPOB members or that the Eastern killings didn't happen as initially reported, but that IPOB has been proscribed.

3. However we all know IPOB have been active and holding meetings in the East, one of which degenerated into a deadly clash wherein DSS officers and some IPOB members were killed. In the aftermath of the killings, many Easterners rejected the proscription and asserted the "right" of IPOB members to gather despite their proscription, which makes this vindication on the basis of their proscription very questionable.

With this re-emphasis on their proscribed status, it is therefore expected that all security forces do everything possible to destroy completely, any remnants of the proscribed terrorist organisation to prevent any future killings of Northerners in the East. Thankfully, the case is still under investigation and I trust our respected Police Force and other security agencies to deliver.

Leading people in communities protesting injustice

Over 100 Igbo traditional rulers drawn from different communities across Igbo land from Anioma in Delta state to Oru of Imo state to Ngwa of Abia to Ikwerre of Rivers state to Wawa of Enugu state, gathered to protest the August 23rd killing of IPOB members in Enugu.

The Royal fathers condemned the killing of unarmed Igbo youths and warned the DSS not to ever repeat such. They wondered why the security agents were after unarmed IPOB when armed Fulani herdsmen were all over Igbo land killing people every day

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu knows from day one that his supposed quest for a new state of Brafra is not genuine. If it were, he would've encouraged his followers to massively participate in the politics of the Southeast to elect federal and state lawmakers who will champion a constitutional amendment to include the absent referendum in the constitution. This way it can be lawful for Nigerians from the east to through a referendum determine whether to remain or go.

There would be no point doing this since all the votes of the East is far short of what is required to amend the constitution. It like telling a bird to keep flying because it will one day reach the moon.

Nigerians are just hypocrites. A Nigerian will go out to celebrate his independence from Britain every 1st of October. But when Nnamdi Kanu agitates for the independence of his people from Nigeria, the same Nigerian will act like he doesn't know what independence is.
