80% of Lagos Voters said they'll vote for Jonathanhuh

Come on. Give me a break. No way Jonathan can get 60% of Lagos votes. Even if the Southerns and South-easterners vote for him, I doubt the Hausas and a good portion of the Yorubas will vote in his favor.
The only way Jo-boy would win this election is to muzzle his way in the South. He cannot touch Buhari’s vote in the North unless he wants a conflagration in his hands. However he would allow the local southern Governors to win their mandates, that is the Fasholas and Oshiomoles and co.

what you got here is a sample of the result that would be declared after the elections. They are smart, by giving pdp 80% of votes in lagos in the presidential elections, it would mean Jo-boy would get about 6 million votes in Lagos. That is a big lie!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our attention has been drawn to another lousy outing by President Goodluck Jonathan's "Chemical Alli",Mike Omeri wherein he sought to abuse the office of the President to spread low quality rumour against the man his paymaster is handing over to in 71 days time,General Muhammadu Buhari.

From under the "umblerah"(umbrella) of shame where they have been hibernating since they ran from the Presidential debate because they could not get questions in advance,Omeri ran to foul the atmosphere with a thoughtless charge that General Buhari is not sincere about his resolve to rid Nigeria of corruption.

In the usual audacious incompetence of the Jonathan camp,Omeri's only evidence to support his assertion is the fabled "53 suitcases" of 1984.
For a campaign that parades a PHD on top of its ticket,we would ordinarily expect that any subject they want to attack would be properly researched but unfortunately the way governance in Nigeria has not seen any touch of intellect in the last 10 months is also reflecting in their puerile propaganda.

For the sake of the unwary who may be tempted to believe their is any substance to this urban legend,we recap what happened .In 1984,the Emir of Gwandu whose son was ADC to General Buhari was returning to the country from overseas. The Head of state on learning of his arrival asked his son to go and receive him at the aiport as they were only playing squash at the time.

Coincidentally, the Nigerian ambassador to Libya at the time,Dr Tahir Waziri arrived at the same time with the Emir with his three wives and 16 children. They all came with their belongings as he was coming home to take up a new appointment as chief of protocol to the Head of state. It was the suitcases of the family of 20 that were counted as belonging to the Emir and falsely presented to the public.

General Buhari has over the years asked those who have questions over the matter to go to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who was at the head of Customs operations at the airport on the day.Now we are further suggesting this as a research topic for a doctoral thesis by the president when he hands over on May 29,2011.

Having come clean on this as General Buhari does with all his public service records,we are asking Predient Jonathan a few questions as we await his threat of exposing his main challenger,a feat which his godfathers in PDP have been unable to achieve since 2002 that he threw his hat in the ring against the ruling party. Here we go:

1) Can Mr President explain what happened to the case of N104m seized from Nancy Ebere Nwosu who allegedy swore to an affidat to the EFCC that she was laundering money for Dame Patience Jonathan?

2) What about the announcement by the then EFCC spokesman,Mr Osita Nwajah on September 11, 2006 that the sum of 13.5m USD was seized from another associate of Mrs Jonathan which the anti-graft body said belonged to the now first lady?

3) Any explanation on the several billions of Naira which DSP Alamiesegha left in Bayelsa coffers as at the time of his impeachment which was allegedy squandered in months by Jonathan without anything to show for it?

4) Who presided over the FEC meeting in October 2009 where a 4 km runnway at Abuja Airport was awarded for N64b?Late Predident Yaradua was already in Saudi Hospital as at the time!

5 What happened to the 30b USD Yaradua left in the excess crude account that is virtually empty now?

6 How come it is only Nigeria under Jonathan whose foreign reserve is depleting among oil producing nations at a time of all time high increase in prices of oil products?

We understand Jonathan is scared of General Buhari promise to check out what happened to the billions of dollars the ruling PDP has sunk to the power sector to give Nigeria further darkness instead of light because he has supervised that sector in the last four years.

No amount of cheap shots will stop the change Nigeria awaits from ensuring that Nigerians enjoy regular power supply starting from finding out what the PDP did to put the light out so that money never pour into procuring darkness in our country again.

You make me laugh with your post because it shows that you have little or no IQ. Did i say Pat Utomi is the MOST intelligent Nigerian or the most intelligent candidate available to serve? You should go back to school and learn how to read and understand. You and wesley80 are clearly not bright individuals.

You talk about the experience of the other candidates, what experience? Experience in taking over a Government with military force? Experience in fighting a selective anti corruption war. Or Experience in not being able to make any worthy improvement in one’s state?

Please save it for dummies like yourself who continue to bullshit Nigerians. Are you saying that UTOMI is a fresher, the guy has been a special assistant to a Nigerian leader before and he has continued to play a leadership role amongst the youths. He is highly respected more than the other candidates because he has no baggage. He is the kind of president the western world will truly respect and listen to because of his honesty. You all dislike him because he refuses to join "owanbe" parties, well shame on you.

You and your ilk are lazy and backward in nature that is why you will settle for the worst solution instead of going for the best. Can you imagine Americans voting for Sarah Palin over Obama, even republicans know that Sarah Palin is a joke and no presidential material.
No matter your desire to spin Utomi for this post, it is one of those post no man or woman can wake up and tell the world he/she is going to achieve no matter that man or woman's antecedent. If Utomi cannot fit himself into any of the 3 or 4 minimum leading parties, then it simply shows how high an expectation he has of himself. There are no permanent friends in politics, I am sure you have  heard these words a million times but permanent interest.

Your man should get off his high horse and join one of the four leading party rather than been the kingpin in a down and trodden outfit no one has ever heard off.

All 3 major opponents are average Nigerians by any standard and accord, they are not stark illiterates, they should be able to perform with a supposedly wealth of experience autocrats that have all the degrees u can think of guding them through all the upheavals of goverment, bearing in mind some have already been their and worn the T-shirt. The lot of Bayelsans is definitely worse than the lot of Nigerians. As we speak there is no road connecting Yenogoa to the costal Towns and yet they have and have had civilian government in persons of Alams, Goodluck and Silvia collecting multi milllion dollars yearly. To look at the revolting theft perpetuated in Bayelsa from a macro view or Nigerian point of view it is tantamount to a situation where there are no roads connecting Lagos to the hinterland and yet u have Governors collecting millions monthly from the FG and noting to show for, that is unfortunately the sorry tale of Bayelsa in 2011. All three Governors are guilty as charge and should not be trusted in April 2011.

GEJ's popularity is gradually descending to zero on the web and on the ground. His supporters are busy singing ethnic and religious jingo as the only reason to get the people's vote.

Nairaland,Blackberry and facebook users are 90% in support of "CHANGE" and Buhari is the man.

The evidence of GEJ's dwindling popularity is glaring on his facebook page.People were earlier on scared of making negative remarks but right now most remarks are negative even in the face of constant deleting of comments by his facebook managers.
That is refreshing news. What is needed now is for CPC to be very popular in Lagos. The Change bug or fever should catch those 8 million votes at stake in Lagos otherwise no chance for him. He seriously needs a heavy bite of that Lagos Cake.

First and foremost we must give kudo's to the organisers, to be sincere it was/is one of of the better programmes I have watched for a very long time. I can see why the Americans are addicted to Presidential Debates, it is an aphrodisia, u can't get anything better. I think Goodluck Jonathan did not do himself any justice in running scared at an opportunity to entrenched himself and rally his troops against minnows some who have never been in Government b4 and does not even know what it entails to run a government of which all people irrespective of tribe and religion in all segments of the society are carried along.

I notice the rather unequivocal, not too pronounced thus, i must say an underneath and benign respect the moderator had for General Buhari, probably by virtue of him being an ex head of state and secondly a person of an advance age is always accorded such respect in Nigeria. On the other hand the veneer of respect that she gave Buhari was absent when she dealt with the other two debaters. Although sublimely I noticed her renewed appreciation and the superior intellect Shekarau brought on to the debate. ANPP b4 this dabate I use to view them as some nordic party led by some fundermentalist from Kano, but this debate put such bias thought at the back bunner, Shekaraua has earned his respect. The man is not only eloquent in his views but he is also very intelligent and deft in answering tricky questions, so for Shekaraou u get 2 for one if voted into power(elocution and intelligence). Ribadu got the least respect from the moderator, why I do not know it might have to do with the way he bungled the Tinubu question. Definately Jonathan would have gotten a lot of respect and the number of your excellencies that would be echoing from that hallowed hall from madame moderator would have made the debate a loopsided one in favour of the incumbent.

Just Like the Lagos State Debate, the incumbents tend to have the last laugh always rubbishing salient and geniue concerns of the citizens. Dosumu in the Lagos State debate touched a chord when he mentioned the 1 billion Naira per kilometer in Lekki but instead of the moderator to pursue that line of argument to the logical conclusion asking the Governor why the road is that costly he switched over to next question.

However this are my views of these 3 gentlemen.

Ribadu- Fire brand in the preacher mode, first time for me to hear him at length, he has a passion for his nation, but his gung-ho tactics might lead HIM to going head first into a problem b4 realising that it was the wrong move. I surely would like him to lead this nation at sometime in the future bearing in mind more capable hands would be coming out of the wood work in 2015, my self inclusive. Among the 3 debaters he is the most nationalistic, which gives him a lot of appeal.

Buhari - Steady hands to move the nation forward from the rut that has befallen our nation. We need someone who would cut the cancer from the rut. Buhari would do just that. He made a very important point about how come we spent $16 billion doillars on electricity and their is noting on the ground to show for. Can u imagine u given your brother or sister 3 million to buy a new car for u and yet each time u ask her/him for the car he/she says it is coming soon yet he/she is living an extravagant life. Ribadu whether he likes it or not was part of the rut of OBJ's regime and of course that is why he is saying that an ACN Goverment would not witch hunt anyone. With Buhari people are looking at Buhari doing the first bit of the dirty job that is weeding out the rut and Bakare finishing the race. Bakare finishing the race is a mouth watering prospect hence the sudden huge following of the CPC in the SW.

I have come to the rather logical and seemingly intelligent conclusion that PDP is the party to beat. Why go to a debate and  blow a winning formula. The reason why I came to this Unfortunate conclusion is because of what is termed the " Alternative Voting Pattern" clamoured for by the Liberal Democrats in the UK . The " AV" as it is called in this shores, gives u an indept insight as to how electorates vote. It looks at peoples choices. The system ask voters who would u like to vote for, 1st , 2nd and 3rd choices. The Party with the most 1st and 2nd votes tend to be the majority winner.

The 2nd most popular Vote in the NW is PDP, in the NE is PDP, PDP is actually popular in many states in North Cental zone but may be majority could go either way. In the SS and SE, PDP rules the rooast and the  AV or the second here is one of the following parties, ACN, 2-APGA, and 3- DPP Great Ogboru's party.

SW - 1st either ACN or PDP(that is if they do not rig in Ogun and Oyo) 2nd is either PDP/ACN in either way u look at it CPC would be 3rd in this zone. Ondo is voting PDP in Presidential Elections because Mimiko has problem with Tinubu.

SE= 1st is PDP, 2ND- A Plethora of parties, ACN, APGA, the Alliance Party, Labor party and 3rd would be CPC

SS- 1st PDP, AND SECOND-ACN,. third would be CPC

NC- PDP/ CPC it can go either way with the other one coming 2nd if they don't make first.

NW- CPC/PDP - 1st and / 2nd

NE-CPC-1st and second PDP

Going by this emperical formula, I see the PDP pulling through come April.

Let the Zimbabwean people revolt and Mugabe decides to slaughter them and see what will happen
The people of Matabeland revolted in the late 80's and early 90's, over 20,000 people were put down by Mugabe's dreaded " Fifth Brigade". They have been disbanded now. The West did noting then.

The Fifth Brigade was an elite unit of specially-trained Zimbabwean soldiers. The Fifth Brigade was formed in 1981 and disbanded in 1988 after allegations of brutality and murder during the Brigade's occupation of Matabeleland. It was reformed later and was active in 2006 at least.[1]

In October 1980, President Robert Mugabe signed an agreement with the North Korean President, Kim Il Sung, that they would train and equip a brigade for the Zimbabwe National Army.[2] In August 1981, 106 North Koreans arrived to train the new brigade.
The members of the Fifth Brigade were drawn from 3500 ex-ZANLA troops, including two unintegrated ZANLA battalions, at Tongogara Assembly Point. There were a few ZIPRA troops in the unit initially, but they were withdrawn before the end of the training. It has been reported that there were also some foreigners in the unit, possibly Tanzanians. The training of Fifth Brigade lasted until September 1982, when Minister Sekeramayi announced training was complete.

Civil war in the mid-1980s

Between 1982 and 1985 the Fifth Brigade brutally crushed any resistance in Matabeleland. Over 20,000 civilians died and were buried in mass graves, during which many atrocities were committed.[2] The intensity of their actions during the mid-1980s is associated with a specific Zimbabwean word Gukurahundi. This is most simply translated as "the rain which washes away the chaff before the spring rains."In 2011, Zimbabwean mercenaries fought with along side troops loyal to Libya's Gaddafi after the "Arab Spring" regime changes in late winter.

What is speaking well?

And this is directed to all of you, not only KnowAll.
To be sincere I do not see anything wrong with the 3 men in the debate. English is not our first language and secondly if you can utter and string a few words together in any language and your audience know what u are talking about, u have communicated, speaking a language is all about communication and getting a response and that is what is necessary. However having said that, if u listen to that interview with Balewa, u would notice the English reporter interviewing him also had a posh upper class accent which is a rarity in today's UK because of Political Correctness.

Today u listen to fresh men out of college with strong Northern Irish Accent on the radio, in the olden days people like that would have to go to a special school of diction b4 allowed to go on air. Even the role of playing " James Bond" in a film used to be the exclusiveness of Posh Accented fellows. Sean Connery's Scottish accent was not visible when he played this role.

what have Jonathan done for a year now ?
do u know that the budget implementation for 2010 is less than 30%

and this is the person you want to still he to return to presidency.
You know GEJ has not done anything, I know it too. The question is, does the market women know this, does the danfo drivers know this, Papabrown made a point, on the voters list, u vote for party and not individuals, the PDP Logo would be inextricably linked to both the Presidency and Governorship elections the electorate would confusedly just vote for the umbrella party even if they have intention of voting for Buhari.

African union should put their money where there mouth is, they should raise a million people to fight for Gadaffai since the war would be on the ground with the no fly zone in place. The group with the most men and would surely win. If they cannot do this,  they should shut-up. Anyway most of those die hard dictators in Africa have over the years in their respective nation and states dispensed off,  over a million people in their nations directly and indirectly so an extra one million would be one million less mouth to feed.  undecided

Balewa was a remnant of the old English way of life. Even modern English men don't have that kind of posh upper class accent, how much more home-grown  Nigerian politician who grew up hearing and listening to Nigerians speak with heavy Nigerian accented English. There is bound to be a difference. However Shekarau spoke well for a modern day politician

But they all heard about the Dbanj interview and most of them thought it was kool.
I Think you have summed it up well with this statement. I think living abroad for too long makes one to take things for granted. I remember when I first visited Niaja in 1999 after staying in the UK for a good 7 years without stepping out, I took a lot for granted. Can u imagine telling my folks and friends when we/ I wanted to go out and there was no car to take me out, me telling my friends to I beg "make na call cab for me". It was then someone said cab ke, "where u thing say u dey"

A Few Gaffes
While responding to a question on his romance with democracy, Buhari blundered by saying the constitution allows anyone from the age of 18 to seek elective positions “from councillorship to presidency”. No, General. We can never have an 18-year-old president. The constitution says minimum of 40 years to be president or governor, 35 to be a senator and 30 to be a member of House of Representatives. Ribadu, on his part, said the North-west had never produced the president. Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the first chief executive of the independent Nigeria, was Prime Minister from 1960 to 1966. Can’t remember any gaffe from Shekarau.
And you too gaffe Mr Kolawole, we can have an 18 year old councillor although not a President, Buhari did not specify, he only mentioned the options open for anyone between 18 and above, so Buhari is correct.

Politics › Re: Strong Institutions Not Strong Personalties Is What We Need by KnowAll(op): 4:03pm On Mar 18, 2011
The only way to build strong institutions is for people to get more involved -- You are right, no president or leader can do that for us. And that is why, I prefer people be more realistic in their expectations, even from the Buhari group
Most of those who stole our money have over-whelming evidence against them. How can a man who earns less than N1 Million Naira a month suddenly becomes a Governor of a state and he now owns a house in Ikoyi, Abuja and London, are we saying been a Governor in a backwater country like Nigeria is = to been a lottery winner.

I do not have to be a forensic financial auditor or guru to know the man has misappropriated whether he did it through overt over-inflating a contract or by outright stealing the peoples money the evidence is always there beckoning for all our attention. The bad thing is those in a position to prosecute deliberately turn a blind eye to what is a glaring problem.
Politics › Re: Strong Institutions Not Strong Personalties Is What We Need by KnowAll(op): 3:49pm On Mar 18, 2011
I agree, but who will strenghten the institutions
We cannot rely on BB to strengthen our institutions; the institutions should have an independence of its own. Although some points made by BB like scrapping immunity to sitting Governors is one that must come on board whoever wins come May 2011. Jonathan, Ribadu and others should support such policies.
Politics › Strong Institutions Not Strong Personalties Is What We Need by KnowAll(op): 3:10pm On Mar 18, 2011
Although I am a BB supporter, to be sincere our country should have grown past this bitter bickering between the Buhari Camp and Jonathan's Camp. I sense trouble because of our weak instuitions. Our instuitions that needs scrutiny ’ includes the post of the Governors, LG Chairmen, minsters, commissioners buying houses abroad or having millions of dollars in their account and yet their salaries are less than 1 million a month. Nobody seems to be interested or are asking questions where and how these individuals suddenly got or come about this unexplained wealth.

How does one explain those Judges who gave the recent verdict to the ACN Governors having in excess of $330,000 in their NIGERIAN ACCOUNT. This case should not be difficult to investigate; money does not grow on trees. Strong Institutions is about accountability and transparency how do one justify the manner in which Fashola awards contract,  even though he is one of the better performing Governors, how do we justify 1 billion Naira per kilometre in lekki.  An African nation awarding contract worth a billion Naira per kilometre in a country where the minimum wage is less $15.00 per week. OR the huge chunk alpha beta is getting from Lagos State Government.

What of the wanton wastage by OBJ and his cronies, the failed Railway project, not to talk of the sham Power Project, nobody is asking simple common-sensical questions,  “where have all the money spent on this project gone to” this is not about tribalism, it is a simple question that requires an answer.

There is no reason why those called to serve, would just serve and can't go back to their old jobs. But what u realise in Nigeria, is they build mansions both at home and abroad, after becoming Governors instead of them going back to their old jobs, they seek  Senator-ship,  after their Governorship misadventures, u asked them what have they done with the huge money misappropriated and embezzled during their tenure in most cases the evidences against these gluttons in power are pretty prima- facia, you don’t need or have to dig deep to struck oil in all 36 states of the nation to see the rut in the system, their calamitous and rogue-gish regime would be out in the open for all to see, what surprises me is,  in most cases they seem to be lost for words as to how the money they have stolen have been spent, money u don’t sweat for ends up in mundane and frivolous things anyway.

Today 450 Law makers get in excess of a million dollars, how many of these greedy men and women have a cottage industry in their constituencies employing restless unemployed youths. If these men and women are doing their own little bit that would at least impact in the local economy. But what do we have, these greedy, selfish men and women spends this largesse given to them courtesy of the state like drunken sailors, acquiring anything that catches their fancy whether good, bad or ugly.

Our nation needs to look at those old democracies, it doesn’t matter if Republican or Democrats or Labor or Conservative wins the elections the intuitions would remain the same. The common man or woman does not fear any worse, they maintain an almost if not the same standard and cost of living with little or less variances  of between 1-3% differentials which honestly is nothing.

Tony Blair the UK premier when he left the job of been the prime-minister, he had to write his memoirs and engage in a rigorous talking circuit in order to pay of his mortgage. But in Naija even common LG Chairman has a house in London, Dubai, SA, OR Ghana. We cannot continue to run our country like this. That is why there is so much animosity between Jonathan and the Buhari group, because the mantra in Naija is "Winner takes all".

By being the Nigerian President, the treasury is practically the  personal piggy bank of who is Mr President. We need to strengthen our institutions, we have strong institutions theoretically, what we need is to give them teeth so that they can bite and operate at an optimum level.

Realistically if we have strong institutions, it would not matter if we have Ribadu, Buhari or Jonathan. A salient observation over the present crop of men vying to be Mr President they are all good men except of course Jonathan has all the failures of OBJ and Yardua to contend with and defend which can be a bit of a burden. I hope if we get anyone of these men, I pray Nigeria would grow beyond the touted 10% growth rate that has been predicted and it would be a win for the Nigerian people and not the individuals involve.
