Politics › Re: Wahala Dey Oh! Buhari Leads On All Polls by KnowAll(op): 10:09am On Mar 30, 2011
The presidential elections may still be more than a week away, but some Nigerians have already started voting for their candidates.

There are now several platforms online that allow Nigerians with access to the Internet to vote for their favourite presidential aspirant and share their preference on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

The retired military general, Mohammadu Buhari is in the lead on two online voting sites: Nigerians Decide and Online Voting for the Nigerian 2011 Elections.

On Nigerians Decide, Mr Buhari is winning with a wide margin of 60 percent (1,378 votes) and 68 percent of the votes, respectively. He is followed by President Jonathan with 24 percent (546) and Nuhu Ribadu at 13 percent (300). Pat Utomi and Ibrahim Shekarau both have 1 percent of the votes with the remaining candidates at less than 1 percent.

Over 3,500 people have cast their vote at nigeriansdecide.110mb.com for the 18 different presidential aspirants.

On Nigerian 2011 Elections, the results are the same, but in different percentages. This website however, only included six contenders: Mr Jonathan, Mr Ribadu, Mr Buhari, Mr Shekarau, Dele Momodu and Mr Utomi. In its mission statement on its home page, the Nigerian 2011 elections said it was created “for Nigerians in Diaspora or Nigerians online as a whole, who will not have the opportunity to vote” in the real elections.

Option A4 of Online

Voting Websites like takeastand.com.ng want to take online voting to the next level. The self-described “Option A4 of online voting”, requires voters to make their ‘vote’ public on a social network site. According to the designers on their website, Oo Nwoye, Namzo Ojeh and Ope Obembe, “Take a stand was built to fight apathy, double speak, and non commitment by our friends and colleagues on the forthcoming Nigerian elections.” Option A4 is a reference to the 1992 elections that had voters line up behind the candidate of their choice. The website claims that the 1992 were probably the freest and fairest elections ever held in Nigeria.

Unlike other online voting websites though, they do not show results in terms of which candidate is in the lead, but people can see where their friends stand on Facebook and Twitter. Take a Stand only allows you to vote for 4 candidates: Mr Buhari, Mr Jonathan, Mr Ribadu and Mr Shekarau. According to the web designers, the reason there are only four aspirants is “exactly the same reason the 20 premier league clubs do not go to the Champions League.” In order the make the voting as accurate as possible, Take a Stand and Nigerian 2011 elections only allow voters to vote once. Nigerians Decide allows web visitors to vote once every 24 hours

Politics › Re: General Buhari Is A Disappointment To Me. He Is Unfit To Be President. by KnowAll(m): 8:12pm On Mar 29, 2011
Buhari has run a largely sectional campaign in which his more ardent supporters have been known to chant: "Sai Buhari, ba u son mai fitsari a tsaye". Most of these supporters are illiterate and see the world through the prism of religious prejudice and violence that is largely directed towards other Nigerians not of their ethnicity or religion. For them, Buhari's campaign rallies are religious events. It is these same group that he urged to lynch election riggers. These people interpret election riggers as anyone not in support of their chosen candidate (Witness their violence directed at others on the day of Buhari's election campaign launch in Kaduna). The prevailing view among most of Buhari's supporters (even educated ones) is that he cannot lose a free and fair election. This zero-sum attitude leaves room for the misinterpretation that Buhari's loss means the elections were rigged.
I dont think Buhari's VP would be a party to a charade where northerners would go on rampage killing other southerners in the north because they voted Jonathan. If that happens, Buhari would be on his own.

I am fed up of seeing our women folks preferring a war torn Libya to go and do Ashewo than to stay in Nigeria. Why would any human being prefer to take such a risk?

Jo-boy and his fellow travellers should just bow out gracefully, running a nation is not about luck but ideas, and probity. I cannot tell my brother to buy a car for me, having given him the money of the car and he is dodging me left, right and centre. Anybody from lowly Councillors, to Chairmen of LG, to all other elected officials, who cannot prove the source of their wealth, an unpleasant time awaits them in a new incarceration centre to be built in the harsh arid regions of NE Borno State.

A Mou has been agreed with a Specialist American Jail Building firm who have committed themselves to this project which would commence in earnest when the CPC are voted into power by April 2011.

I believe in a true free and fair election, Team BB would trounce ACN in the Presidential Elections in Lagos State. The Momentum in Lagos is gathering storm, and it would surprise a lot of people when the coalition of pentecostal voters unleash their mules, it would be a reminiscent of one those every Friday revivals in Messrs Adeboye's Life camp.

ACN would however clear the other elections , Governor,Assembly men both state and federal.

Abeg Abeg Abeg! Do not group all easterners with our , 419, criminal, sycophant, shrine swearing, opposition suppressing governors.
It is good to know Igbo's in Lagos are independent in their views and not part of this aghast cliche of lies peddled in the press. JEG needs about 4 million votes in Lagos, and he and his campaign team has already started by orchestrating misinformation by telling the world about the overt superior numbers of igbo's in Lagos. What a lotta tosh.  undecided

This myth that Igbo's anywhere equals to a vote for JEG must be broken. Lets assume this spurious story is even true,  those inflated and extra figures classified as Igbo vote in preparation for massive rigging in Lagos has no umbilical cord with the corrupt, inept and gangsterism regime of messers Jonathan, neither has the hard working Igbo man benefitted from the largess and littany of theft associated with that regime, if anything those extra numbers would be an added advantage to team "BB" and probably Ribadu not GEJ. We must expose this fallacy for all its worth.

Igbo's in Lagos expose this lies when the CPC train arrives in Town.
Politics › Re: CPC's Campaign In Lagos Would Be The Game Changer by KnowAll(op): 9:06pm On Mar 27, 2011
Now, all the Hausas communities in Lagos are being mobilised - they have close to 2 million votes in Lagos alone and all these are for Buhari.
That is a good strategy, with another 2 million votes from the middle classes, that would give Buhari almost 4 million votes. Lagos Igbos are not as blind as those in the East. They would vote ACN for Governorship and probably Buhari for Presidency, I doubt whether they would support JEG. It is just a hype by the PDP Propaganda machinery. And the Majority of Adeboye's flock and most Pentecostal's in Lagos because of Bakare would be rooting for Buahari too.
Politics › CPC's Campaign In Lagos Would Be The Game Changer by KnowAll(op): 8:10pm On Mar 27, 2011
Reading through the number of southerners who have thrown their hat and weight behind hurricane " BB" it would appear that the icing of the cake and any break through for the Buhari trojan horse into the southern part of Nigeria, hinges on a successful and overwhelming  campaign in Lagos. Lagos must pull the largest crowd for CPC south of the River Niger and Benue, if CPC fail in its bid to pull out Lagosians en-mass into her fold,  then it suffices it to show that another desperate but sincere bid by Mohammdu Buhari to be the new occupant of " Aso Rock" come April 2011 would have come to an abrupt and sad end,  a finality unfortunately would have to be drawn on this tireless soldier's quest to improve the lot of the poor and downtrodden. No matter the result I shall salute his ferocity and gallantry in taken on the state. He is a true soldier.

I would like to believe Buhari's effort this time around, the campaign, the crowds that came out in their thousands,  either he wins or lose should usher in a new kind of politics, politics of issues, politics of intellectual discuss as we saw in NN24, Politics of taking stock by the ruling PDP, they would know Nigerians are angry, angry citizens in any nation is a quick road to perdition, that nation has started dancing a macabre dance of death. We have seen it in all its glory and ramification in North Africa.

I would want to believe that henceforth a new politics  where all candidates would be singing from the same  sheet has come to stay. I  would also want to believe it would NOT be business as usual even if the dreaded PDP were to come back to power, because with GEJ, being a Young man, I would want to believe a new leaf would be turned whereby most of the policy statement prof erred by the CPC, the ACN and the ANPP would be harnessed into a new PDP policy statement, one should not lose sight of the fact that Mr Goodluck would have gotten his own legitimate mandate and does not have to kiss frogs anymore(the Ciromas or IBB's of this world) in other to formulate and implement policy that would make the polity more transparent and progressive. I want to believe whoever wins come April 2011 it would be a win-win for the Nigerian people because we would be having 3 new men Buhari, Ribadu and a mandated Jonathan.

I am a BB fan, and both Messers Buhari and his erudite VP ought to know without significant foray into the huge population centres in the south the election is un-winnable and it would be wrong and deplorable for semi-illetrates and stark illetrates Almajeris going amok in the North over a loss that is clear as day light since it would be obvious then that their principle has failed to show any complimentary strenght in the south. The North alone cannot give the CPC the elections this is the stern fact no matter how unpalatable.  The duo Buhari/Bakare,   especially Buhari should rain in on his constituents, he should educate them on the intricacies of the elections, they would need an above average performance in both the Northern states and southern states.

Those aggressive and incitefull Rhetorics needs to be toned down, they should concentrate all that energy and vitality on  how they can get votes in Lagos, Ibadan and Ondo State these states should be their strategic onslaught in the SW. Ondo State being a "no man's land" when it comes to the Presidency, that state is open for all. Lagos being the state with the largest internet users, the winning formula employed on the internet can be replicated on ground and I believe it can be done.

I sincerely await the CPC 's Lagos invasion that would be a determinant factor. CPC has already being to Ibadan and even the present Governor Alao Akala admitted in a recent interview that there are only two Presidential Candidates in the state Jonathan and Buhari , the in-roads CPC has made into this state needs to be strengthened,  fingers cross,  they just might nick it in a free and fair election.

So I wish CPC the best of luck in Lagos and those 3 aformentioned states.

It is high time Yoruba's get off this regional politics and support CPC for the Presidency,we cannot be playing a divisive politics in 2011. ACN are a good bunch but I doubt WETHER they can win the election. In the absence of this stern reality Yoruba' s should THROW their weight and vote en-bloc for CPC.
Politics › Buhari Is D Awolowo Of D North & A Progressive Voice Dat Should Be Ignored by KnowAll(op): 4:48pm On Mar 26, 2011
There is one thing about Awolowo, people call him tribalist, sectionlist, regionalist and all sort of acronyms but one thing I know is if d Nigeria people had given him their vote, d whole country would have become his constituency. In d absence of such concession u work with what u have, hence him propelling d SW to that aloof level that is d envy of all today, believe it  just like Awolowo, Buhari loves his northern constituents first b4 Nigeria.

It is simple his Northern constituents gave him a mandate. The question is if Nigerians gave Awolowo their mandate would he have abandoned Nigerians in their entirety and concentrate on d Yoruba' development. I doubt it, every Nigerian would become his Alma alter, he would fight for d progress of every Nigerian.

When Awolowo was Gowon's Finance minister he made sure Kainji dam came to fruition, it became operational, with excess capacity dat was given to other countries. They managed d Nigerian economy from 1967 to 1975 without d Naira losing it's value to major currencies of d world. In fact by 1974 Nigeria was officially d richest nation on Earth cash-wise not asset or infrastructure wise. This was d period wen Gown & Awo parted ways because he cannot be seen to be playing party poltics and still be in goverment becos Gowon promised free & fair elections in 1975 . It was after this period dat Gowon's new crew of clueless  technocrats took over and embark on a lot of economic Hara-kiri like " Festac 77& paying Jamaican Teachers who were on strike's salary.

I believe Buhari would transfer d enthusiasm he has for d North to d whole country if voted in. Let us don't make mistake we have a second chance especially "Yorubas" to vote Awolowo in again albeit in d form & name of Buhari. Bakare would act as a check on Buhari. So Yorubas vote CPC for Presidency.

I don't think Lord Lugard would be too impressive with d speed recorded by Jo-boy's Train. 7 hours Lagos - Ibadan, I bet Lugard's train pre-dating the Amalgamation would beat dat speed. It would appear Nigeria has actually retrogress by more than 95 years, this is not worthy of celebrating.
