Why not be a southern literate you claim to be by calling him a tyrant, what he did still remains one of the best things for Nigeria if IBB had not jumped in, he was about putting us back on course, we were getting used to the discipline he was about instilling in our Nigerian life until IBB came and turned Nigeria back to a country where the fittest takes all while the weakness die off.

Shagari was a figurehead just like GEJ is going to be and Shagari's ministers were taking him for a ride, his ministers were driving Nigeria into eternal debt and inflation was going into heaven.

Lets not throw the baby away with the bath water, Buhari is not a saint but he meant well for us in 1983 and meant well for us between 1995-1999 through PTF and still means well for us
An armed Robber that robs and pillage and start given his loot to poor folks just like Anini started doing does not makes his actions right. Two wrongs cannot make a right. We must not be seen to encourage soldiers taken over legitimate governments, they are not trained to Govern and are not aware that some of their brutish diplomatic tactics employed, can cause more harm and damage to the nation than any progress.  If I am not wrong diplomatic relations between Britain and Nigeria suffered and was at a low ebb during Buhari's regime. And if I am not wrong it was the only time in our history that we we came close to breaking diplomatic ties with the UK.

Buhari's delinquent approach at apprehending Umaru Dikko was childish, short-sighted and in hindsight inappropriate and unnecessarily long winded,  if the right  authorities were approached with some degree of Decorum they would have handed over the fugitive hiding in the UK. But that silly regime of his went about it in a Barbaric manner.

If Shagari was not good the next man after him might be better. When you truncate democracy in a 19 state structure, some states are bound to suffer. Lagos State is one example of a state that suffered immensely from the childish military misadventures of Mohammudu Buhari's junta.

What happens if CPC wins and he ends up building a standard road to the east, are you going to boycott the road because it was built by an Hausa man?
The good thing about learned southerners and even illiterate southerners is we would embrace him as our President. I have always said we have 3 good men in Ribadu, JEG and Buhari, but Buhari should be mindful of how he came to the lime-light. He was a soldier who mutinied against authority that alone is an offence he has not answered the allegation up till now. If he loses he should accept it in the spirit of sportsmanship. But a man who can carry a gun to get what he wants is similar to an armed robber who chooses to rob people because he has got a gun.

The armed robber has alternative way of making money if he is hungry. Why can't the armed robber go to the market and become " omo lanke" wheel barrow pusher, it is hard job but it would put bread on the table. Same thing with Coupist, they are impatient, greedy and narrow minded.
Politics › Re: Iyabo Obasanjo Dumps Jonathan? by KnowAll(m): 11:11am On Apr 17, 2011
She should not be rewarded with any ministerial post in the future. JEG should not reward her for her nonchalant and her non-committal role in his emergence. If she had voted Yesterday, she would have contributed her own little widow's might to JEG's re-election but by not voting she has contributed zilch and should get zilch back.

No paddy for London, you rob my back, I rob your back, Jonathan should promise Lagosian the 4th mainland Bridge. If Buhari had apologise and regretted the scrapping of the metro-line project, and promise he would pursue a similar programme if voted-in, maybe Lagosians would have given him a looking-in.

But to dey make yanga after putting millions of commuters lives in misery and jeopardy in Lagos with the current chaotic traffic situations today it is just unforgivable.

What happened is most ACN supporters are not interested in either front runners and a vote for Ribadu would be a wasted votes. The best and wise thing to do is you abstain from voting given the PDP an easy run in picking up the votes don't forget for every 4 votes in Lagos ACN have three and PDP has one so you can imagine what that means when there is a massive boycott not forgetting the fact that a lot of ACN supporters made an informed and strategic choice to vote PDP.
Politics › Re: Buhari Answers Reporters In HAUSA After Casting Vote! by KnowAll(m): 5:26pm On Apr 16, 2011
Buhari can only answer in a language that comes to him instinctively and that is " Hausa". This tyrant who came to prominence by the nuzzle of a Gun was not properly trained and schooled for diplomacy with regards to high and prestigious office. His primary job was to stand at ease behind a duly elected President and of course a well schooled Nigerian President would have been exposed to the intricacies of such high office during his sojourn for knowledge. Such Individuals would not be irritated  by speaking the Queens Lingo since this language would have been the language he/she used in writing and defending his projects, thesis,  reasons and thoughts.

When you have a situation where Hooligans are in Power, the demeaning attitudes of would be Presidential candidates knows no bounds and it should not surprise anyone, I believe if elected such candidates would result to hiring expert hands when faced with a complex and daunting question to answer on their behalf.  Nigeria at 50 don't need that any more when the country is bursting in her seams with Phd holders driving cabs, we have more than enough learned fellows to fly the flag for Nigeria than the buffoons coming out to run just because they came into prominence because of an illegality. We cannot be presenting people like Idi-Amin as our President in 2011. I feel jealous when I listen to Museveni and Mugabe speak the Queens language with such a natural flare, they too have an indigenous language too, I wonder why can't we present our best candidates for the top Job rather than move forward we seem contended at turning the clock back.

If it were not for Buhari's Junta misadventures of 1983 he would have been a persona- non- Grata in Nigeria today, not any different from hundreds of Generals who are not known and would never been known.

I hope this election would put an end to those military misadventurist who mistakenly manoeuvred  their tanks into civilian territory thinking they have a God given right to rule this country. When it is clear the little stint they had at the helms of affair although illegal by all ramifications and by every civil convention was one stint too many and would be the last time any Nigerian electorate would reward a coupist with the highest office in the land.

They can salivate,  have a wishful and a death wish at grabbing power at all cost,  we the electorate we would not bulge at such antics,  and if they take arms against us we shall give them the Gbagbo treatment beating them to submission.

Northern Nigeria of today have so many bright minds that have gone to the best schools both at home and abroad we welcome these candidates with utmost optimism to climb the rostrum and present themselves for office. They would surely get our attention b4 any coupist, they the coupist can go and live with their stolen laurels for now and those who did not help themselves to the treasury,  well what can I say, they have lost out all together. Neither would I loose a sleep over their predicament nor their woes, at least they are still a 1000 times better than the poorest Nigerians, so no sympathy for them. Some of them despite their anti-corruption stance still manages to stay in one of the most expensive hotel rooms in the world on a regular basis without a care in the world an allusion and dream many Nigerians would only hope and aspire to enjoy in the after life or in heaven.

If you are referring to the 'BB' crowd, majority of them are not in the country so actually voting is not a possibility.
Team BB died last week saturday when CPC could not deliver some states. Running and winning an election is not all about the principle in this case " Buhari" it is about 3 men of integrity in each state who would become Senators, about integrity and sincere men in the house of  reps and integrity and men who have the fear of God in the Gubernatorial race. One man cannot make a forest a very vital but painfully belated information Team BB did not take on board last week.

it is safe to say and argue that the PDP, would buy up a lot of CPC votes because of the doctrine of necessity. Most sellers of their votes are contended with the short term gratifying effect  these " Judas Money" brings in their life,  is it worth it ?, one would be tempted to ask, to the down and trodden,  a bed in hand is worth 2 in the bush.

A meal today is worth more than a thousand meals tomorrow or any other day. There are some consolatory price thus for making such informed but shameful decision, " the dead does not feel pain nor get hungry, it would amount to lunacy to turn down money to have a decent meal based on principle. The down and trodden would argue albeit within his own conscience, "Am I going to eat principle or Tuwo" I rather have "Tuwo" and let those who want to eat "Turenchi" "English" in the Hausa Language go and eat it.

There would be more surprises to come as the election results unfolds.  lipsrsealed
Politics › Being A Sitting President Is The Biggest Advert Ever. Why JEG Would Win by KnowAll(op): 9:11am On Apr 16, 2011
The President in this part of the world(Africa) is seen second only to God. In Africa the President can practically do almost every thing God can do except probably raising the death and a few others. As a result many African nations see a sitting President has an infallible being only second to the creator. I intentionally asked a political Naive Nigerian a very simple question of who would she vote for come 16th of April 2011, and she said "Goodluck Jonathan"  and I said what of  "Buhari" and "Ribadu".

She said is " Buhari" not that military man that took over so many years ago, no way can she ever vote a coupist. She said Buhari's name still echoes and resonate nostalgia amongst many Nigerians,  that it would take only a complete nutter to vote for him when you have a " God's chosen like Goodluck Jonathan " and the other man 'what is his name again' she asked. I said to her,  is it "Ribadu " you are calling the other man, don't you know his record when he headed the EFCC. She said what is EFCC?, I said the anti-graft agency, she said why should a poor man or woman in this country know what EFCC is all about, when the organisation is an institution that keeps a tab on our corrupt politicians making sure they fall in line with best practises. I reasoned with her to some extent on this point, the poor has no reason to know what EFCC is all about especially when u still have a valid Police Force doing almost the same thing in civvy-street.

Women folks in Nigeria are the most politically naive in the country. Most women folks have a lot to contend with on a daily basis. They see to the welfare of both their adult husbands and the kids and really have not got enough time to indulge in such common but mundane task like reading  newspapers let alone following current affairs the world all over, a task many of us have taken for granted.

I don't mean or want to sound condescending to our women folks as there are many high flying women political gladiators all over the country but on the balance of it and to a larger extent many are political naive and this extends to many men also, it is amazing the number of Nigerians who fall into this category of people.

That is why in a Presidential election in Africa, the man they see every other day in the news print, in the electronic media almost always have an edge over all contenders making the idea that one party or in this case the ruling party would allow an equal playing field for all the politcians irrespecive of parties as a sham and a fallacy. Any sitting President would always have an edge, and that edge always means vote as long as the President does not get himself involve in heinous, malicious and macabre crime or embroiled in divisive issues.

Dinner Test Question - is one way of measuring the extent of acceptability of a sitting Presiden's popularity. Even in the CPC hot bed of NW Nigeria, if a die hard CPC fan were asked a simple question who would he want to come for dinner tonight amongst the following  " Allah", " Buhari" and " Goodluck Jonathan" the answer would be Goodluck Jonathan. Not that the man does not believe in " Allah" far from it, the reason why he would not choose this option would be that there is no precedent of " Allah" visiting anyone in the physical and choosing that " option" is not realistic to any human comprehension. The spiritualist amongst us would beg to differ and argue and inform us  " Allah" is with us all the time but a poor CPC supporter would look at it from a" doctirne of necessity" .

Yes Buhari is a good man, the CPC man would like to share a dinner table with him, to share in some of his convictions especially his exemplary role as a clean politician but having dinner with "Buhari" would not automatically solve his own multi dimensional problems even "Megida Buhari" needs hand-out from the people" burdening him with his own arduous necessity is UN-necessary. But the thought of " Goodluck Jonathan" a Sitting President,  sitting across a dinner table from him means the possibility off loading some of those problems $$$  on the C-in-C that cannot be ruled out.

That is because such personalties(the President) have enormous might and power without re-course to anyone, this power cannot be taken for granted,   that is why a die-hard CPC supporter would sell his vote to the highest bidder and would welcome any sitting President any time with open hands into his house-hold. The president has a free advert already and his well known in any country, the likelihood for such august visitor that wield so much power to renegade on a promise after tet a tet  is highly unlikely.

coup is a sin against the state and the sensibilities of all citizens of the state. Shagari might be bad back in 1983, but what of those coming after him like Alex Ekwueme who was warming up to take over in 1997 he might not be that bad. Buhari truncated a democratic process. Today we all witness to Fashola's STRIDES in Lagos after Tinubu's not too significant 8 years in power.

What does Buhari do for a living?- Buhari is a professional election runner. I look forward to seeing him in 2015
This is sarcastic-ism at best, where are you people's sense of humour. Just like the poster of the initial thread asked a rather worrying and inquisitive question which millions of Nigerians would have pondered over, how come a man who is honest and never done a day's job since 1999 can manage to stay afloat in one of the best suites in Abuja on a regular basis, giving the populace the wrong façade and impression about himself, wallowing in self pity insisting albeit not blatantly that he is too poor to build a house in the FCT, yet on the contrary manages to stay frequently in one of the best suite in one of the most expensive hotel rooms in the world the " Nicon Noga Hilton Hotel Abuja"( it is no more news to know Nigerian 5* rooms are one of the most expensive in the world).

This kind of questions are geniue questions that requires answers.

I believe JEG deserve more than d 10 months unfortunately allocated to him by d man upstairs. We have seen men spend 8 years, 10 years and 2.5 years as Head of State / President and yet simple mundane things like our railway working did not happen in their watch. This man has spent 10 months the rolling stocks have started moving, d port of Onitsha is ready for business, let us give this man more chance at least 4 years more. I can't wait to see more things happen, when Jo-boy came to London so many moons ago, at d time he was deputy Governor for his wife IVF treatments one of my friend that was doing a job for him said, he said of all d things in d world Jonathan asked my friend where he could get a good hat from. The guy was shocked he said " oga" if u go to Oxford street there are many shops selling good quality hats but he wanted my friend to source it out for him. Jonathan is humble to a fault but a good man he deserve our votes but if Buhari wins no hard feelings.

Buhari has already lost d presidency by losing too many seats in d house. What remains is a lame-duck PRESIDENT in waiting that the PDP & ACN law makers would twist and turn at their pleasure. Mr Buhari should know this is not SHQ or kill & go policy makers of  a Military regime. He would be blackmailed, pressurized and threating with impeachment, if he cannot carry d house with him, he should smell d coffee d game is up, all his lofty ideas would just be an allusion if the house are indifferent to such ideas, those ideas would not see d bright light of day.

If you were truly convinced before that GEJ cannot lead us to where we wanna be, what has changed about GEJ to ask us to vote him. GEJ has been begging Ciroma for ages so assuming Ciroma accpeted what will you do?

Honestly your reasons and excuses are not holding ground. You are free to support Shekarau or Dele moomodu if you wish but stop this bad campaign
We drove this campaingn in the first place, if the Northern eleites want to turn it into a straight North v South thing then let us go there, GEJ WOULD STILL COME OUT on top because of his influence in the middlebelts.
