Witnesses said the to Al- Arabiya.net that four military aircraft landed three days ago in Benina airport on the outskirts of the city of Benghazi in eastern Libya, is believed to be on board of what they called a "mercenary Africans," They came from African countries did not know their nationality yet, but some of them said they speak French.

The witnesses have been arrested on some of them, and confessed that they had received instructions from khamis-Gaddafi, son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, to fired live bullets at demonstrators.
There are reports said units of the Libyan army has joined to the ranks of the protesters after the publication of "African militias" in the streets.

: "Generation of Libya" website said that several planes landed at the airport "Mitiga" military bearing "mercenaries Africans", dressed in military fatigues to Libya, where it is sent to hot spots in the Eastern Region, and deployed in Tripoli, especially in the areas of Gurgi and Got Alshall .

ntelligent people read and research books in their spare time, therefore they do not need to be spoon fed about topical issues, the mark of a non functioning brain is one which constantly needs to be baby sat, guided and tutored ad nauseam, do you not do research at your backwater evening college?

I think alhj harem,

has shown u where u add Alhj. to the man's name, even that Tajudeen is a subtle way of drawing undue attention to the man's name. The man is simply Fola Afolabi and I am sure friends, family members and associates call him by this name not some political correct nomenclature.

Nigerians are fed up of bUSINESS as usual .

At times I get the feeling you sef don tired, just like the Americans who delved into the unknown by voting a black President u too can give to Nigeria what they desire by accepting defeating honorably like they did in Ghana and your name would be written in Gold not only in this world but also in the after life. Mr President it would be a double whooper for u if can inform and tell the world that there are still men of honour in this shores.

Alh. Afolabi Tajudeen Adeola
Why not just call him Afolabi Tajuedeen Adeola OR better still Fola Adeola as he is commonly known. My uncle was Gani Fawehinmi, I cannot recollect anyone call him Alhaji Fawhinmi. Your are just mischievous trying to play the religious card. For all we care the guy could even be a closet Christians who is not prepared to discuss where he worships in public. Fellowship is personal thing in many climes.

How come the holier than thus Igbo Governors are some of the worst perpetuators of fraud in this civilian dispensation. I was reading how Chnamoke Nnamani stole over $500 million from his state and yet this man is still strutting around within the corridors of powers without a care in the world. God,  some people need to be guillotined to be sincere.

south south issue became an issue of national discourse as a result of the bloody agitation that disrupted oil flow, nigerdelta ministry is just a kite flown to appease the people. meaningful development would only come with nigerdelta having a real voice in day to day running of the state. it can only happen with him being a major player. same goes for other minority group. Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba are not the only people in Nigeria. while these group dont need to be in power to attract development, same cannot be said of others.
Mr 2 post, u must know the south-south has all the aces, u have a full fledge ministry, u get 13% derivations, it is not the yoruba, Hausa and Igbo man that is the Governor of the south-south states, your Governors are all local people so no excuse.

Now you have the added advantage of having a President from the south-south, why don't the president get on with it, what else does he neeed to develop the south-south time waits for no one. The only thing we got from mr president recently after appointing an ijo ondo indigene as the niger delta reconstruction person is an invasion of a town in southern ondo state and the apprehension of an oba by some unruly youths. if that is the kind of development Mr Kuku is planning to bring to southern ondo state, well let him hear it loud and clear we are not interested.

@ poster

some salient point thus, but not entirely, obviously one can see Jonathan's recalcitrance with regards to development in the Nigera Delta but what he fails to know is that it was his predecessor that created the Ministry Of Niger Delta in other to give the place the much touted accelerated development. Since it is a full ministry it has a dedicated Minster and probably a "Minister for" so why after all these rather fancy name creation of a new Ministry, why create it when it is clear  the monster created would just be another cesspit of bureaucracy, corruption a pitiful toothless bulldog.

Is this an open indictment against Jonathan's competence or like the poster said,  just Mr President's coping mechanism at avoiding  playing to the gallery so as not to be seen as someone champion the cause of his people.

For crying out loud Jonathan has noting to worry about because the ministry is a full fledge ministry that is budgeted for and has a statutorily right to exist.

What is the Governor doing about it. How can a king be abducted in his domain and he is keeping quite about it. What is the commissioner of police doing about finding this oba. As a Governor this problem can be dealt with in two ways, formely that is the Governor getting unto the IGP so that this issue can be resolved and the people go back to their homes and informally or what I call the " Eleweomo" way where the Governor would empower albeit covertly street urchins and other dregs of the society for a final solution to the ijaw probem in southern ondo state.

Either way the diapora ondo-yoruba's and other yoruba's are ready to support either action the Governor intends to take with money and kind. and obviously not forgotten to use the "new igbo opc" members as a forward attack members to test their loyalty.  grin

In as much as I don't support unruly and wanton excesses of share-holder's equity being lavishly plundered by supposedly fund managers and trustees, this idea of a CBN Governor taking over a private concern is not only sad but depressing. This spurious and suspicious concept whether it is an unnecessary high handiness on the part of the CBN can be detrimental to would be investors in future,  it is also a slight to the whole ideology of capitalism and all it stands for to say the least.

I believe whatever excesses Akingbola had as per liquidation or insolvency are issues within the ambit of allowable risk otherwise the CBN Governor in charge b4 Sanusi would have screamed blue-murder.

This sacrilegious and revolting idea of someone's sweat taken away from them and giving to another person is theft let us be clear and sincere about this without mincing words, calling it daylight robbery would be an under-statement,  so also  is the silly  idea of  a chief executive resigning or retiring his/her  post after 10 years service, the idea smacks of idiocccy that should  not be entertained.

Is it now the responsibility of the state albeit through her financial institutions  to tell a private citizen when he/she should  retire disregarding the millions of share-holders who should have a say on how their joint commonwealth is run.  Have we not gone down this familiar road before where  a bank was robbed blindly by executive fiat by the same familiar names involved in this theft( Alas the Saraki's) and the Societal Generale saga. It would appear this shameless penchance and conspiratoy behavior has become the mainstay of this family.

Societal Generale being a french subsidiary bank, has no respect of due process and it would appear it encourages such flagrant brigandage and misuse of the people's money, having recently read a piece(I belief there is some truth in it)  where it was indicative that french troops operating in Northern Ivory Coast broke into banks in that country and catered away their loot of course in connivance with a Man Nigeria is now supporting in that country.

In fact the policy would encourage the parents of these children to continue procreating to kingdom comes,  knowing the kids would end up being " omo ijoba" govt pickin. What of if all the alamenjeris from Niger, Chad and Mali start trooping into Nigerian knowing the Nigerian government is a benevolent host.

This policy should be scrapped and left at the top shelve as one of those election promises that would never come to fruition after all if Mr Jonathan Wins he would not be seeking a second term.

Politics › Is Ikoyi Really D Most Expensive Real Estate In Africa by KnowAll(op): 9:09pm On Feb 18, 2011
Ikoyi has some of the most opulent residential facilities in Nigeria and is thought to have the most expensive real estate on the entire African continent, with the average new apartment selling for N120 million (around US$1 million). However, due to the limited available land, many of these are vertical apartment buildings.

The rent for a luxury three-bedroom apartment in Ikoyi is between $45,000 and $80,000 (N5.2m and N9.3m) annually. Five years ago, it was between $10,000 and $30,000 (N1.16m and N3.5m) per annum. An acre (six standard plots) in Banana Island, Parkview Estate and Osborne Road in Ikoyi now sells for between N400m and N450m. Five years ago, it sold for between N50m and N150m. Nexus Nigeria [1] a real estate website operating from Ikoyi offers property purchase, sale and leasing opportunities.

This development is a radical departure from Ikoyi's original design, which was originally composed of modest single-family residences with large gardens. Considering the lack of constant electricity, pipe-borne water, and general decay in basic infrastructure that is typical of Lagos, concerns have been raised as to whether Ikoyi has the necessary road and water infrastructure to continue to sustain this type of development.

Ikoyi includes the newer suburbs of Banana Island, Parkview Estate, and Dolphin Estate.

Politics › Nigerian's Missing Battalion - 5000 Nigerian Soldiers Fought In Angola-1976/77 by KnowAll(op): 6:07pm On Feb 17, 2011
The fact that as many as 5,000 Nigerian troops fought in Angola around 1976-77 may be the most widely-unknown fact in the annals of Nigeria’s very long history of foreign military operations.

In the aftermath of January 1976 OAU summit where General Murtala Muhammed in his timeless “AFRICA HAS COME OF AGE” outing decisively swung the support of the OAU and Africa in favour of the MPLA regime, to the chagrin of their UNITA and FNLA competitors,  the FMG backed up the new MPLA government with N13.5m(US$20m) and sent a squadron of MiG-17 jet fighters in support.

It has now emerged that as many as 5,000 Nigerian troops were deployed to Angola and that they saw action in various theatres across the then war-blighted country.

Writing in an article entitled “MOSCOW’S NEXT TARGET IN AFRICA;Paying the Price for Angola“, Robert Moss clearly indicates that ….

QUOTE:

“The Nigerians are said to be heavily involved in Angola. Western intelligence sources report that Nigerian troops were present at battalion strength when the MPLA and the Cubans pushed south last year.  According to UNITA sources in Paris, the Nigerian strength has since been reinforced.

UNITA sources have tapes of radio intercepts showing that at least 5,000 Nigerian troops have been deployed in Angola. They are operating as far south as Mocamedes, and are also based in Lobito, Luanda and the eastern diamond mining town of Henrique de Carvalho.

UNITA claims to have intercepted radio communications in English (the common language between the Nigerians, the Cubans and the MPLA), in the Ibo, Hausa and Yoruba dialects, and in a form of pidgin Creole…, An intriguing sidelight is that UNITA also claims that a British shipping line played a key role in ferrying Nigerian troops and military supplies to Angola.

Nigeria, rich in oil and boasting an army of some 210,000 men, can clearly afford to be more than rhetorical in its backing for the guerrilla movements of southern Africa.”         END OF QUOTE

Corroborating this report, the world-renowned photo-agency GETTY IMAGES in an archival photo dated 1 January 1977 actually bears a caption which read as follows;

QUOTE:

“Caption: 1977: An Angolan soldier crawls beneath barbed wire trenches during training. Dr Jonas Savimbi and his UNITA movement is doing well in its fight against the ruling MPLA (Movement For The Liberation Of Angola), and its Cuban allies. UNITA claims to control at least half of Angola. In addition to the Cuban forces, Western intelligence sources report that at least 5000 Nigerian troops are also deployed in Angola, on the side of the MPLA. Nope!!! The problem with the naira today has little to do with where it was 20 years ago, in my opinion. We have had ample time to correct the so called injustice since then but the recent devaluing leaves me with more questions to this fact. So, I say we check, is that claim really a fact or just conjecture masquerading as fact
Currency does not drop from 1 to 1 to 1 to 200 to 1 without any country raising an eye-brow, basically it destroys savings, investment, returns on investment e.t.c why would a country that has foreign exchange coming into the coffers of the state by way of oil revenues whether oil is sold at $10 or $100.00 a barrel allow that to happen. At worst the country should embark on austerity measures which the UK government is already doing not 25,000% devaluation of her currency.

True as you said what happened 20 years ago should not be use for reasons of recent devaluations of the Naira. But then no matter how u look at the current devaluation it is within the paradigm of what an acceptable devaluation is,  a 25% devaluation as suppose to a 25,000% devaluation.

I would readily accept 50% devaluation today at 1 to 1 which would peak the naira at N1.5 to $1

While I understand and share part of your sentiments about the level of corruption, short sightedness and wastages currently going on Nigeria, It will still take decades for Angola to match up with Nigeria in terms of development.

You are only talking about Luanda, not the entire country, but we have already built a city from oil wealth, Angola is yet to do anything close to that and I doubt the numerous projects going on in Luanda can match up with the on going projects in Lagos alone.
We are 43 years ahead of them, they only ended their war about 2003 or there about and since they got their independence in 1975 they have be involved in a devastating conflict obviously that rules out any kind of development.  At this point in time bearing in mind we don't have a functional railway and our electricity is still epileptic we are ahead of them,  just. If those clueless people in Aso Rock continue the way they did for the past 12 years then without mincing word they would overtake us- life & direct.
