@ KnowallMy point is anyone can run in lagos, non yorubas should not be intimidated by the over-bearing atitude of some Yoruba people. |
Is Dangote benevolent?Well I do not see many Hausa-Fulani working for him, he puts the best man on the Job irrespective of tribe when it comes to those running his companies. Not the same can be said of Tinubu who has 4 of his direct relations vying for elective post in Lagos. Even his failed and clueless son-in-law, who got bloody nosed in Ekiti Central, has found a safe seat in Agege courtesy of Big Daddy. |
mean what has he done to deserve to run for the postHe is the richest and the most obvious high profile dis-enfranchised Lagosian and the sooner he makes his plight known to the public the better for the other 9.999 million cowardly citizens who have been pushed into a corner by Tinubu and his thugs. I have already mentioned it earlier on my post(about him going into politics), u need to read through my post, he might not be intrested in the post, this thread is an eye-opener an enlighting campaign to those disfranchised citizens who are contributing to the progress of Lagos by paying their taxes. |
^^^I wrote all this to en-franchise the 10 million Lagosians who have been de-franchise because of people like you. |
I thought the poster is Yoruba. He must be a fake one imoI am Yoruba, we are the most cosmopolitan Tribe in Nigeria, don't forget Zik of of Africa started his political career in the Lagos Council. |
@ Knowall Your idea is silly and has brown-nosing and subserviency all over it. We should simply give governance to the richest individuals so that they can enrich themselves further.

Nobody is saying they should give governance to the richest Nigerian, for all we care the richest Nigerian is not even interested in a lowly gubernatorial post. But then I am actually enlightening the 10 million other Non Yoruba Lagosians who have been bullied into submission to keep quiet by Yoruba nationalist who have low self esteem. We are in a democracy now, we need to enlightened the populace as to their right rather than toe or follow up to the hilt old age stereotype and subservience to use your word. It appears u want the status quo to remain the same for fear of Yoruba’s losing out in Lagos, but then how could Yoruba’s lose out when Lagos State is practically surrounded by Yoruba States and they are the funnel to the population growth in Lagos. |
@ KnowallI never said that, I am a pro-You can run anywhere as long as the local populace know who u are and can identify with you. For example where I grew up in Ibadan is named after a man from Agbor in Delta State, he built the first house in the area hence his name is used as a prefix for the area. It would be nonsensical and foolhardy for the sons and daughters of this gentleman who unfortunately has since passed on be denied the right to run for a seat in Oyo State. |
I believe every Nigerian should be able to run for any position anywhere in the country, it is up to the people to either vote for him or not. Dangote has the right to run for the position in Lagos but i have the feeling he will place the personal interes of his business above 20 million lagosians interest.I am not holding court for Dangote, I do not even know him(I wish I do, thus) but I was only looking at his antecedents and to me it is almost similar to that Mayor Bloomberg of NYC. Dangote being a Nigerian and like many of us Nigerians, I believe he might have fallen for that same mass hysteria our people tend to suffer from when it comes to regional politics. Do I belong here or not, what would people say. I believe there is an un-intentional institutionalize brain-washing in our polity that needs to be address and bear open, otherwise we would continue to wallow in our present cluelessness by giving half-baked individuals who have nothing to offer exulted offices, whilst those that have the wherewithal, knowledge and foresight to move us forward are shove aside and left on the top shelf. |
Dude !! I will spank you oh !That is why I said 2015, just in case PDP does not win in 2011, they have 4 years to get their act together and put a formidable candidate by 2015. 4 years from now is enough time for him to build that political worth u are so concerend about. |
Oh please. . .stop going around in circlesHow does the scenario u describe above make Tinubu any more a Lagosian than Dangote, is it because Tinubu is a Yoruba man. Why don’t u tell Tinubu to go back to his backwater town of Iragbeji in Oshun State. |
No dont get me wrong. . . I am not saying only yoruba pple should run Lagos stateWhat do u mean his own people, we are all Nigerians, his own people are Lagosians like himself and I bet he employs more people in Lagos than in Kano because he operates from Lagos, why does he have to go to Kano |
Are you f'real ? Just because a shrewd businessman made his money on the streets of lagos now hez qualified to be a governor ?We have to grow beyond having only a Yoruba man as the only qualified person that can become the Governor Lagos. Like Jonathan said 50% of the population of Lagos State are non indigenes and If they are paying taxes to the state government they should not be exempted from running from office if they so desire. |
I think a state like Lagos needs a God father and a benevolent leader like Dangote to run for office in Lagos State. Just like Mayor Bloomberg of New York City who made his money on Wall street, and is now the Mayor of the City, I think Dangote who left Kano in the late 1970’s to open shop and operate from Lagos and has since never gone back should be eligible to run for office in Lagos State. I believe his benevolence would bring the much touted accelerated infrastructural development and improvement to Lagos by him employing and deploying his international connections all over the world into public administration. He has done well for himself privately, it is now time for him to take the gullet and run for office in Lagos State. He is a Lagosian maybe not by birth but by residence and he has enough investment in that city. The PDP should support him come 2015. I am sure he is a larger than life character, not to be intimidated by cowardly and tribalistic local champions like Tinubu who himself ironically is not a aboriginal Lagosian but somehow has now made the city of Lagos his own personal haute couture. |
I think Fashola is less than a rascal, calling him a rascal is a goodwill and a commendable message. Fashola has allowed scallywags like Tinubu to be in power for 12 years now and still counting. This man’s influence in Lagos has not only truncated Fashola’s unprecedented first 100 days performance in office to a mediocre performance of late, but it has allowed minnows like Amechi from Rivers State, and the reformist in Jigawa State to look like formidable men and the real deal. Maybe it is about time PDP and Dosunmu to wrestle the power from Messers Fashola(I mean Tinubu), he seems to have lost his way mid term. |
Fela sang ODO but I did not get it then, but now I know what ODO means double-speak. Overtake-don't Overtake- Overtake God Say I should run with Buhari- Bakare; God did not say I should run with Buhari-Bakare; ![]() I knew 5 months ago that I would run with Buhari-Bakare; ![]() |
It is only in Niaja they would promote someone and the person would decline. Na wa oh, it happens all the time at Airports and Borders when Custom men and Immigration men are promoted they decline, they tell their bosses they would rather be left in their junior ranks at the border or airport than to go and do office work in Lagos, Abuja or any of the state capitals. |
The Igbo man joining OPC reminded me of a sikh man in England who joined the BNP(anti-ethnic minority party in the UK) Well we are in a Political Correctness time anything can happen. ![]() |
“Shehu Shagari was here on this historic Mapo Hill in 1979 and he won his election. Obasanjo was here and he won his election. Umaru Yar’Adua came here and he won. As you are here today, you have won. This Akala sure has a very sweet mouth. He coined the word JEGA for Jonathan thereby making Goodluck Jonathan to be equal to the INEC Boss-JEGA, a siamese twins no one should even try to seperate. This is one man who wouldd keep his sit no matter how ACN or any other do in the polls COME April. |
@ Gbawe, your guy Ribadu cannot even win Adamawa State let alone Nigeria, I love your fantasy but at times when it gets to d crux of d matter one should thrive to smell d coffee. I think it is high time u & your candidate come off your high horses & face d reality on d ground. Anyway after this misadventure into politics, I would expect Ribadu to go back to his ward & familiarise himself with his people. |
Four hundred bikers under the umbrella of Ghana private motorbike operators union (GPMOU) paid a courtesy call to members of Ghana's parliament on the 1st of February 2011. They had a simple message. They know very well that the laws of Ghana prohibit the use of motorbikes for commercial transport, but that is exactly what they have been doing. Listening to the leader justify their trade on radio, I'm convinced he could easily have read the following speech to the parliamentarians: Let Parliament the citadel of Ghana's law live forever. Please be informed that we are law breakers, but due to extenuating circumstances we do not intend to repent. We are here to petition you, and therefore be petitioned, to remove our offense from the law, extricating us from our consciences that we may indulge, in peace. We appreciate the fact that we are a nuisance to most of you on the road, but we're sure you and Ogyakromians, who you represent, prefer this small menace on the road to armed robbery the other appealing option prohibited by the law. Okada provides us with employment and acceptability in society. We can also pay tithes when we go to church, we can do Zakat, the girlfriends can introduce us to potential mother-in-laws without shame, some can take second wives, and after a hard day's work, we can buy a bottle of overtaxed beer. On the subject of taxes, please remember that if you legalize our trade, our taxes will increase the money in the national kitty, and you will have less hassle approving 200% increase in your own salaries. It is worth mentioning that there are thousands of unemployed youth in Ghana who will gladly join GPMOU, and these are all voters. Be reminded of this important fact when you debate our petition, because we will be listening. Lastly, kindly tell the over-zealous MTTU to back off as you consider our petition. I have never been a fan of Okada for a number of reasons. Firstly, motor bikes were not created for commercial transport. For safety reasons, the rider and the passenger on a bike are required to wear crash helmets. But this is almost impractical in the commercial arena as few people will want to share a helmet worn by thousands for obvious reasons. Neither is it practical to sling a personal helmet on your shoulder, next to your beautiful Gucci hand bag in anticipation of your Okada hops on your journey. The only realistic option is to avoid a helmet with its consequences. I can jump on any public transport without worrying about what I choose to wear on a day, but with Okada, a skirt or kaba slit may create balancing problems that will precipitate the crash, not to talk of the revelations and visions underneath that shall be savored by guys nearby when you attempt the jump that puts you in the passenger seat. Secondly, motorbike accidents break more limbs and kill more people per unit distance than cars. Put a thousand Okadas on street and surely you would have created lots of jobs, not only for the riders but also for the carpenters that will make the coffins. A study in the USA some years ago showed that for every one hundred thousand registered riders, almost seventy will end up in fatal crashes, compared to fifteen automobile crashes for the same number of registered drivers. It is unfortunate that in Africa, useful statistics are difficult to come by, but I will bet my last cedi that the statistic for bikes in commercial transport will be worse. The people who cite Benz 207 accidents to push the case for okada should have a rethink, because Okada will beat those accident rates hands down. Maybe find out from our Nigerian brothers why some hospital wards are called Okada wards. I do not believe that any Okada association can regulate the activities of their members not be a bother to the rest of society. We shouldn't fool ourselves; Ghanaians are not the best example of order and discipline. We may be doing better than some neighboring West African countries, but these are bad bench marks. Okada will jump red light at will, squeeze into cracks too small for their size in regular traffic, get many decent road users to frequent the parish to confess to swearing and the dozens of expletives they are forced to utter in disgust. Okada will just make tro-tro and taxi drivers look like the long lost Saints of Ghana highways. One Okada will carry an entire family, the father, the son, the daughter and mother with baby at the back, basket on the head. Their union will only serve one purpose- a rallying point for them to gang up and beat up any driver who accidently knocks down an out of control Okada rider, just as they do in Lagos. With all the 'wahala' okada conjures in any society, why is there no shortage of willing commuters ready to hop on? The answer is simple- Okada is simply goosing into a huge void created by the lack of decent public transport system. Our roads are so congested that, it is not fun commuting to and from the office on any day. Many are forced to leave home at 5 a.m. or earlier, to get to the office on time. The situation is not helped by our un-planned development that has forced residences to be located far from the business district without a public transport system to aid travel. If you attempt a tro-tro ride during off-peak hours, you may have to endure a long wait till the bus is full. The other option is a more expensive taxi ride. What do rational people do in such circumstances? If okada can drastically cut down the hours on the road, why not, and that is the value proposition of Okada. Don't mind the risk, we are very religious, God will take care of that. I have just returned from a funeral in the Volta region. When you mention transport, the first response is 'zémidjan', another name for okada borrowed from our Togolese neighbors. They are doing some 'wonderful' work moving people from homes, to hospitals, markets, schools, and even moving corpses to their final resting place. Many in the population they serve have no other form of commercial transport. In fact there are no access roads to many of the villages they serve. Thanks to technology Okada is a phone call away. Stop Okada, and the villagers will have to walk long distances to access services we take for granted in the city. Okada is simply a common sense reaction to a real problem. In other words, the growth of okada in Ghana is being fueled by demand. Attacking the supply may not get us the result we want. I hate the idea of using motorbikes for commercial transportation of humans. I will never support legalization of the system, but by leaving such a yawning gap in our transportation system, we are giving a tacit approval to the okada business. Okada is not addictive, if people have better alternatives okada will be out of the news. We need a comfortable mass transportation system that our Ministers and MPs will have no problems using to get to parliament. We must be getting rid of the rickety tro-tros and uncouth drivers' mates and be replacing them with trains and buses whose calls at bus stops are timely and predictable. Under more professional guidance, these same drivers, mates and okada riders could be trained to be the backbone of a decent transport system, a system that makes okada unattractive and at the same time provides jobs. In the absence of this, Mr. Awuni, the MTTU boss, can read the riot's act seven times to all the three hundred okada riders that visited parliament, but it will be an effort in futility. Even the politicians will not back his efforts. For years, I commuted between my Accra New Town home and Burma Camp primary in a mummy truck (bone shaker) we called Agege. As better alternatives appeared on the Ghanaian market, the bone shakers receded into the background. There was no strenuous campaign to get rid of them in Accra. Yes, I know the Vice President recently cut the sod for a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Accra, but the name of the game is result not intention. Even If a successful public transport system is the only legacy Egya Atta presidency will bequeath to Ghana, posterity will gladly borrow the words of the Adisadel College ode and say 'Atta Mills has labored and we share the glory, ours to do exploits and add to his gain….'. Until then, we may have to brace ourselves for a bumpy ride, because there is an okada near you that is goosing into space given up by common sense and good governance. |
The constitution is more generous to the term citizen of a state than what most of us including myself are spewing on this thread. I think if u resides in a state for about 5 years whether u can speak the language or not, it is within your right to claim citizen of that state. Obviously there are some salient points the constitution is silence on or should I say not specific about, and there are some conventions in our minds that we as citizens have accepted as a norm and won’t let go no matter worth. We actually go on air to re-enforce these fables which are not only incorrect but misleading, we go on internet forums and other media outlet to scare people from knowing what the true position of things are with regards to their rights and what states they can claim as theirs. Can someone please post a copy of what the true position of the 1999 constitution is on this matter? Rather than us engaging each other in an un-necessary mudslinging it is better we deal facts and figures. |
Thank God the riggers gave her 1 vote what if they gave her zero vote, forgetting that she would have to vote for herself that would have scuttle the whole elections. |
It is only in a dream land that you will see one Chukwuemeka as Lagos state governor. Taiwo as Enugu state governor. Jonathan as Kano state Governor etc. It was not like this in the 50s. There was tribalism then, but it wasn't as bad as it is now. Tibalism lives in Nigerians and Nigeria. What you see in Nairaland is little compared to what is happening in Nigeria. There is noting stopping one Oluwaseyi Chuckwuemaka from becoming Governor of Lagos State or one Iherijika Oluwole from being the Governor of Imo State or Hassan Jonathan from being the Governor of Kano State. The people of the state can identify with the origin of the aforementioned than when u have someone with two foreign names foisted on them. |
Poster: You have been told. If you have ears, you better hear. The same people telling you to take up a Yoruba name are the people that will ensure that you are exposed as a non-Yoruba Lagosian when the time comes. They will easily term you an omo-Igbo and ask you about the history of your fore-fathers in yorubaland. We are not in the 50s, we are in 2011. I'm sorry, but it is the reality on ground. You can only be used as a commissioner or something like a special adviser, that is if you become a political heavyweight in Lagos.Mr man u are one of those aborigenes that have noting to contribute to lagos, let the new lagosians contribute to the growth of that city. Your relevance are diminishing on a daily basis, how come Tinubu's son in law who failed to get a seat in the Ekiti Federal House got one delivered to him in a platter of gold in Agege Lagos. Mr man please Shut Up |
Always spewing rubish because you want people to start bearing yoruba names. You must not adopt any name neither must you learn how to speak a language before you'll have the full right of a place. As long as you were born there you're a citizen.Did I SAY Yoruba names it could be vice -versa a Yoruba who grew up in Owerr I personally don't see anything wrong in that person called ugochukwu oluwafemi. That peson has an identity than some one with a name like ugochuckwu Nnamdi claiming to be a lagosian. The problem with people like u, u want to come to a place spewing your foreign language on the locals and feel welcomed afterwards how is that possible when u are not prepared to integrate. Yorubas who grew up in Togo and Cote Voire all have french first name in unison with the dominant culture around them. Wande Coal is from Taraba State but with a name like that I identify him as a mushin boy rather than a boy from Jalingo. |
FORGET ALL THESE LONG STORIES FROM NAIRALANDERS. YOU ARE FROM DELTA STATE. YOU DON'T NEED TO SPEAK ANY DELTA LANGUAGE TO BE IDENTIFIED AS A DELTAN. ALL OTHER PLACES YOU STAYED IN ARE NOT YOUR STATES OF ORIGIN. FOR INSTANCE, YOU CAN NEVER BE A GOVERNOR IN ANY OF THOSE STATES. YOU WILL BE TREATED AS A FOREIGNER IN THOSE STATES WHEN IT COMES TO THAT. YOU CAN ONLY BE WELCOMED TO LEAD AS A GOVERNOR IN DELTA STATE, SINCE YOUR ROOTS CAN BE TRACED THERE.That is why in the other thread I suggested once your family has settled in a place, it is always good to integrate for example taking up local first name must be encourage especially if u are a 2nd and 3rd generational settlers. For instance a name like " oluwafemi" in yoruba language means God loves me, God Wants me depends on how u want to interpret it. Why would a second generational Hausa or Igbo in lagos in which the only lingua franca in the household is Yoruba call his child Emeka or Abubakar when he can pick any of the local names around in his new environment for his child. Nobody is saying they should change their surname far from it, but for u to identify with a place it goes beyond just speaking the language. On what this gentleman is yearning above that, u cannot be Governor of your adopted state, forget it, u can be anything u want, once u have the network of the dominant party machinery in d state behind you. The wordings of this gentleman are tactics some so called indigenes use to scare non- aborigines from not running when it is obvious political office in Nigeria is based on patronage of the party hierarchy. How come Tinubu a second generational Lagosian became the Governor of the state obviously backed by party grandees when it was clear funsho williams an indigene won the primaries. Poltical office anywhere is connection. You are most likely to have that connection amongst people u grow up with than in your grand-fathers's state of origin. |
You are a citizen of the state where your father is born. @ poster u are a citizen of Lagos provided u can speak the Yoruba language. I believe your father who was born and bred in Lagos should be able to speak the Yoruba language, that makes u a second generation Lagosian that can speak the language. However if you were born in lagos and soon afterwards you moved to Port harcourt or Kaduna and u can speak the local lingo in those places but cannot speak your father's first language which is Yoruba then it would be difficult to claim Lagos. How can u be a Lagosian without been able to speak the language. You are more likely to claim those places u grew up, since u would have gone to school with citizens of those states who can vouch u are one of them. Meanwhile your Grand father's state of Delta at anytime and any-moment in your life u to claim it back even if u cannot speak the language. So you have 3 choices. |
Unfortunately a good deal of Nigerian Christians have been able to cleanly delineated Politics from Religion (meanwhile Religion and Politics are bedmates). A Christian Vote or Muslim Vote is something any Powerful party will fear in an election, sadly it will never happen in Nigeria. Christians simply do not vote because of Godly injunctions, they vote for their own personal reasonsI think Buhari got overwhelmed at the likelihood of 10 million Pentecostal Christians not counting Catholics and other Christians swinging it for him. How do you galvanize a group who have been apolitical for this long to start seeing that politics and religion are one and are inter-changeable. I think it is an empirical formula which would fall flat on Bakare's face or work like a magic. But if that is the line to be chosen in the battle ahead, today being a Sunday the day's message from all the pulpits in the country would be a unison message of harmonizing their numerical strength in other to wake up that sleeping giant called Christian votes. But the thought of this mouth watering proposal actually brings to a fore the fundamentals of this new churches in our neighborhoods, are these churches springing-up at the rate of one in every other third building in Lagos and Ibadan for salvation purposes or self aggrandizing purposes if it is the latter, then it suffices to say the allusion there is a mighty Christian vote waiting and ready to be unleashed unto populace is a fallacy rather than a fact. |
Is Bakare a Political Liability riding on the goodwill of Buhari and the goodwill of the populace who see him as a upright, truthful and sincere fire brand preacher. Do you think Christians can vote en-bloc to support this two straight couples. |
I love to see Buhari and Bakare in Aso Rock as occupants and co-occupants. But the simple Arithmetic to this wishful thinking just DOES not add up. We all know of Buhari’s antecedent being a 3rd term veteran for the most coveted seat in the land. It is clear and obvious where he draws his strength and reservoirs from. The Semi- Arid lands of far away Sokoto, Kebbi , Zamfara, the talakawas in Kano and Kaduna, and the Daura region of Kastina are where he draws his strength from, despite humiliated twice in the polls by OBJ, his fledging army of jihadist in those semi-arid lands where reigned upon not to cause any uprising and mayhem against OBJ. OBJ like him, loathe him, stands today as one of the highest living military men, and the army whether u look at it from a tribalistic lens or from a liberal binoculars are vehemently loyal to their superiors irrespective of tribe. In fact if it is true that Nigeria has 250 tribes then the Army is the 251st tribe. Buhari had his first break into public administration during the time of Murtala/OBJ regime and he later became OBJ’s Minister for Petroleum Resources, this post is no Lilliputian post, is the cash cow of any regime, for any President or Head of State to foister such a responsibility on anyone shows the kind of confidence the number one man has for that individual, it is not only confidence, it is integrity, confidentiality, trust and above all progress. This man (Buhari) who one can say is a protégée and confidant of OBJ is now contesting against his boss in 2003 and 2007, there could be only one winner. Because of the integrity pact between Buhari and his Boss, those fortress and bastion of Buharism were allowed to keep their votes, OBJ had to result to serious arm twisting, bribery, thuggery, in other to deliver the SW votes which was his constituent. OBJ already knew the South-South always voted for Nordic Parties, they did so in 1979, Awolowo was beating in 1979 because he did not campaigned heavily in Cross-River and Rivers State making an old age and an un-written alliance between the North and South-South to continue unabated, no wonder the votes went to NPN. Benue State which would have been a battle ground for Awolowo voted a Nordic Party because no one could convince them otherwise; it is quite interesting Plateau State which was to the North of Benue vote NPP just to distance them from Hausa/Fulani Hegemony. That was the battle line in 1979, in 2003 & 2007, the PDP had already been in power for some time and it was easy to use the power of incumbency in the state to push a PDP Agenda, the Arithmetic added up, the only jig-saw for OBJ was for him to deliver SW votes, knowing the power of incumbency would be at full throttle in the already captured PDP States. The SW capitulating was the icing in the cake for the PDP in 2003 and 2007. Now we have Buhari/Bakare, they are fighting a South-South fisherman whose ultimate aim was to run for his LG, B4 Alams was informed that there was this lecturer who had thrown his hat into the ring in his LG, DSP Alams was the most popular politician in Bayelsa, he had everything, followers, thugs, mend fighters, the police were in his pocket being an exDSP, but did not have a degree, he felt having this Phd run along him as his running mate would not only bolster his inadequacy but would be the icing on the cake of already determent election. We all know what transpired between Goodluck Jonthan taking up the reins in Bayelsa and how he eventually became VP, Acting President and President. Today Mr Clueless Goodluck Jonathan has become Mr mindful Goodluck Jonathan, I have seen him within the last 5 months destroy all those pocket of resistance especially in the South. We must not lose sight that the PDP has the power of incumbency in some Northern State, those States with a little wherewithal from the centre government those seats would be maintained within PDP grasp. I would not put the victory of Aregbesola of Oshun State as a victory wholly for the Judiciary, feelers have it that the last Governor of Oshun State was an IBB boy who was hell bent on supporting his candidature. Providence I would say or sheer badluck made this same Gentleman to have an outstanding case in court at a critical time in his career, a case that would determine him keeping his Job. I do not have to be a soothsayer to inform you that the Presidency would not be too keen in seeing this Gentleman regain his seat and it would not be out of character for the Presidency informing the deciding Judges tacitly that they should dispense judgement on every case that comes to their courts without fear or favour but by facts and figures, this coded message even to the most clueless and upright Judge would sink in without me saying more. I however commend the Judges for a job well done, and do I really have to commend the Presidency on what clearly is a ploy to get rid of a perceived enemy of the state.? ![]() However the Ekiti verdict caught everyone un-aware because the Ekiti State Governor was a strong ally of the Jonathan Candidacy, in this Judgment the Court really exercise their right and power to dispense judgement as deem fit. That brings us to the Delta State re-run, I think this judgement was staged managed and orchestrated from Aso Rock. The Judgment was meant to jerk-up the Governor who was having secret dalliance and rendezvous with the Atiku /IBB camp. The Governor has finally gotten his job back and he his Jonathan’s number fan, in fact he his the chief fund raiser for theGoodluck/Sambo Campaigns. As it stands now Jonthan has 3 regions solidly behind him, the South-South is a forgone conclusion as per the Presidency, the SE- Is now Jonathan territory and they are the new bride and like a new wife who has just been taken, Jonathan is giving and heeding to all they ever wanted in the East. I hope SEasterners would draw up a more comprehensiveshopping- list of items they feel the FG should intervene, this is their time and they should not lose sight of their bargaing power. The Middle Belt the name that makes the Hausa/Fulani shiver with fear afte Gideonr Orkar’s un-ceremonial excising of some Norther State is behind Jonathan, with Suswan Governor of Benue State the Anchor man to deliver Benue,Kogi,Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Taraba, Kaduna- Sambo factor and Bauchi to some extent. Where is Bakare’s constituency, is he planning to use the Pentecostal Vote of about 10 million Nigerians, this group cannot be relied upon because they have individual views when it comes to Politics and I cannot imagine every pastor from North to South and from East to West telling their congregation to vote for the Buhari/Bakare candidtates, in principle and theoretical it looks like a done deal and an election winner, but the reality on the ground is totally different. I think Buhari the veteran got sucked into that un-imaginary figure of 10 million Christians standing up for him and Bakare, this is just a theoretical procession an academic exercise which would be good in the halo halls of Universities but would not work in reality, it would however be revealing and an eye opener to seasoned political pundits if it actually works in reality. We have to be mindful of the fact that our ever lovable Ribadu would not win his State(Adamawa) let alone Nigeria, So how could Bakare hope he can garner enough vote in the SW apart from his immediate vicinity of his church in Otta without involving the ASHIWAJU Tinubu in the equation, does the revered pastor not know that the most Popular Politicians are men of questionable characters, people like Ribadu are Utopian Candidates we all dream of having as our President but when it comes to the crux of the matter these Utopian Candidates would fade into oblivion when the realities of surviving on a daily basis hits home. It is those street-wise Politicians like Alams, Tinubu, late Adelakun that can deliver the goods, I may be wrong. I am not a sceptic thus, I wish BB the very best of luck in their new chosen(not so new for Buhari thu) endeavour to be next President and VP. To be sincere my mind tells me this two blokes can pull out victory from nowhere, but the reality on the ground keeps on staring at me like the Sword of Damocles with undisputable facts and figures with regards to which states can each of these Gentlemen bring unto the table, whilst it is clear Buhari would have a handful of states, I am struggling to find a LG where Bakare would have an overwhelming majority perhaps Ifo/Otta LG in Ogun State, that is if the population of his congregation is larger than the population of LG. In Any case it would be a modern David v Goliath Story, and I hope there would be no distortion to this fairy tale from moonlight( un-believable I believe the story, that might have to do with my Christian faith)that had a happy ending, we all love it when the underdog to do well irrespective of strength, strategy or gamesmanship. We just hope Buhari would also be able to reined in on his Alimanjeri’s this time from un-leashing mayhem on poor Southerners who would be going about their lawful business in his domain after he might have lost for the 3rd time. |
Seeing Ironsi in that state of mind one can honestly deduce from the clip, a man clearly afraid from his own shadow. A man moving his head like someone unsure of what next to do or what else to say. I would not begrudge him thus, he found himself in an un-charted territory, that man is a classical dead man walking. A man who knows and is visibly convinced that this unfamiliar road to perdition could only end in a melee with the grim ripper. His instincts, invariably clearly displayed and accurate for the whole world to see, buoyed his enemy to strike an already drowning man. |
