Did Quatarra really win the election? From both a logical point of view and common sensical reason with regards to the happenings in IVC, I don't think it is ingenious to draw and conclude without mincing words what is obviously a clear cut fact that Mr "Hotel Arrest" Quatarra could not have won the election. IVC is a country seperated into two by a conflict, the trend of migration using the Liberia war and any other conflict zone as a yardstick is for people to gravitate towards the most safe city OR REGION which in this case without a shadow of doubt is Abidjan. Anybody conversant with conflict management especially in war zones would agree without doubt and would also have an unshakeable and transparent view of what have transpired in Ivory Cost in the last 10 years. Who are the people who voted for Quattara, most of the country-side in IVC has be despersed due to the conflict, which is understandable there has been a decapitation of not only human resources in the country-side, roaming bandits are rife and a way of life in the northern zone, this is because of the absence of a unifying strong man in the Gbagbo mould in the Northern part of the country, to say the north has degenerated into a somalian apocalypses is not too far from the truth only just. ![]() TO SAY the only bastion of civility and any semblance of normality in that country is Abidjan, one would not be over-stating the facts neither would one be drumming up unwarranted support or spinning on behalf of Gbagbo, why should Gbagb give up that oasis of peace and tranquility without a fight. This is a city Gbagbo has sheilded and nurtured for 10 years preventing it from slipping into the abyssmal case in the north occupied by Bukinabes and other forigners, why should Gbagbo share his utopian with these maurauders from the north, I think it is high time the ECOWAS head of states put on their thinking caps and have a second look at this conflict from a logical point of view without quicklyt jumping into bed with the french /American fantasy of gung-ho diplomacy. Since Gbagbo controls Abidjan and her institutions such as the police and the army, which are funtional in that cityl like in every normal society, Gbagbo would be sen and is actually seen as a messaih amongst southerners and Abidjan folks. |

The poster is suffering from winter blues. Winter is always a depressive time in d west even if u get money. |
The invasion has lost momentum & that element of suprise. Now Gbagbo would be scurrying d whole world looking for weapons, merceneries, & that joker weapon that would suprise ECOWAS soldiers, after all In today's world u can buy dirty & impoverished nuclear bombs in d black market for a few fist of dollars. |
Is that not a North-North candidacy, I thought Bakare is from Kwara State, a repeat of Buhari-Idiagbon sitiuation only this time one of the candidates is a xtrian. |
What they should do is build a multi story car park at d juntion of Opebi & Allen, all who have business in d area would park there at a discount and those who actually live on Allen can park their cars with a 90% discount in d car park. After building d multi- story car park they should ban okada from Allen Avenue, Toyin Street & Opebi in it's place a tram would run from Allen to Opebi then to Toyin street, Danfo's should also be banned only registered Taxis & d Trams should be d only legal public transport. The spaces in front of most of those exquiste shops where owners park their vechiles would be expanded & paved to be used as walk-ways obviously with those ubiquitious open gutters covered & put under-ground where it should be. |
Posted by: KnowAllD federal gov gets 55% of revenue they should cut it to 50% State's gets 30% & LG gets 15% they should reduce LG to 10 and pass d 10% got from both FG & LG to city Goverment but d emphasis on City Goverments would be they should endeavour to raise money privately rather waiting for d Feds just like d current state & LG govts. We must discourage creating another group of no-hopers who would be expecting d Feds to bail & bankroll them month after month. Any city that does not achieve self sufficiency within 5 years funds would be withdrawn from dat city & d area would be merged with any adjoining LG that means d money due to d city would be giving to d LG since d city has lost her right of being referred as a city. |
If it is true Nnewi has all these industries & markets as d poster porported then d development of d city should be privately driven. What is d point industrialist & marketeers having N50 to N100 million naira in their accounts & yet the town is left to rut. That is why I have always preached d necessity of any city above 50,000 in Nigeria to have a Mayor who would be voted into office every 4 or 5 years. In most cases the mayor would be a man of outstanding influence who would be able to draw considerable investment to his domain. |
I can’t imagine been holed up in a 5 star hotel since the 1st week of December 2010. Today is the 18th Of January 2011. It means Quattara despite been the bonafide and authentic President has been under-hotel arrest if we can call it that for the past six weeks. It would seem that he is the one at the receiving end of this on going and never ending conflict and not Gbagbo. If he attempts to take a break away from the familiar surroundings of the hotel by taking a shot hop in a UN helicopter from the hotel premises to probably the North of the country where his constituents are in majority, the likelihood that the chopper would not be shot down by Ivorian Forces loyal to Gbagbo is very slim, neither can he take a car ride out of the hotel premises. It would appear that the so called legitimate President of Ivory Coast has been caged like a rare animal in that wonderful hotel building, and of course surrounded on all sides by crack elements of the Ivorian Forces. Quattara must be the world’s most powerless President. Could someone please end this powerless man’s nightmare and misery by setting him free from his predicament? I would not be surprise if Gbagbo sets up shop at the entrance of the hotel for the discerning Tourist and any other on-lookers who would like to catch a glimpse of this desperate man in suit, and of course for a fee. Every dollar counts, the Gbagbo regime are in dire need of every dollar they can lay their hands on. I see Japanese Tourist falling all over each other and been at the fore-front of this kind of weird tourist opportunity, those guys with their cameras which sometimes is almost as big as themselves can snap at anything even at the most obnoxious thing one can ever imagine. |
The Chauvinism and the plethora of hopes that the down and trodden of our society have acquired through your exemplary good governance in the house together with your well known grammatical ground breaking insurgence in that house although in- comprehensible to most of your constituents but for the helpful interpretational conduit of fellow learned persons who made it a duty to divulge information to the less-privilege of what you are all about, has made hoards, of un-official institutionalised destitute to clamour for more encouraging and satisfying law makers, men and women who are made from the same mould and the same clay when the Great One in the sky was creating man for the very first time. We hope the newcomers to the house in the next dispensation would be as benevolent in their conduct, intellect and wellbeing as your person. We are aware that our faith has been sealed with you no more in that garrulous house and we the real citizens who are living in the real world have been left in the lion’s loin to be devoured by human who look normal in the natural but in the spiritual and to the discerning eye are really two-headed monsters whose primary aim and role is to shred what little Caracas is left in us. No wonder why our people, North, West, East and South, almost always look un-fed, un-kept and hungry about to keel over at any moment. I sometimes marvel and wonder how come our people have the immunity to hold malaria at bay despite looking desperately lean. At times I wonder why a full grown adult would look so malnourish in a country that supplies about 8% of the world’s oil and gas. How come eating and buying chicken by the citizenry of my beloved country is an un-mentionable luxury. In my time, I have been to a lot of countries in the world, and in many countries chicken is a staple but not in my beloved Nigeria. How come a country blessed with one of the finest weather in the world cannot produce enough birds to engage in the envious and very rare sports of chicken football matches beats my imagination, I believe our country can get to this height just like we once had a pyramid of Groundnuts that rose from the ground to just below the clouds. Our nations would rise to such lofty heights again if we can have more Obahiagbon in the house. |

There is enough money in Bayelsa than every other states all d politicians do in dat state is to share money. There second past time is travelling to Abuja, Abuja being there favaurite destitation to relax. You would be suprise when d airport starts funtioning there would be people who are prepare to pay for d empty sits in d plane so dat d journey can be made. You can see according to d article it is a domestic airport with smaller planes landing. It is just a quick air-taxi for d rich from Yenogoa to Abuja, even d short journey to Portharcourt is too tedious for many rich politicians in Bayelsa State. A friend once told me about an incident dat happened in BY State, he said he went to visit an old friend & acquitance who went to d same Uni with him in d early 90's. He said d guy asked how was London, can he do him a favour by depositing £10,000.00 in his account in London which he answered in d affirmative, he said d guy now gave him an extra £2000.00 for d favours & spending money whilst he was in Nigria. According to my guy the day he visited his friend was a Friday & Yenogua is always dry in d weekend d guy now suggested to my friend they go to port-harcourt dat there was a ready helicopter to take them there, but my friend said dat no thanks dat he brought a car from Port-harcourt dat there was no need for such ostentious way of travelling. When my friend came back to London & told me this story I knew there was just too much money in Bayelsa, so what is an airport if d city have 20 to 30 people who needs to be in Abuja & Port-hacourt just for d evening only to be back in d morning to be with there family. |
You most certainly need cameras and video evidence if the current spate of electoral malpractices is to be annihilated. My view is nigerians in all nooks and crannies of the country should be encouraged to gather video and picture evidence then send or text them to a number or via skype, blackberry instant message, twitter etc. Enterpreneurs with a good supply of cash or investors should set up a dedicated line, skype ID, BB pin no etc and let people know that their phones would be credited with probably N100 for pictures sent, N300 for videos or any other appropriate price. Let them know that they should turn on the date function of their phones and relevant inscription that would be of value to truly achieving a free and fair election. I personally would also be happy to run with this idea as I think there's money to be made. I thank God for your brain, Brilliant idea. These are the things we should be doing here and not all that unnecessary arguing that many people do. (You see, it only took 1 post me to know this guy is brilliant, some people just post rubbish to sound intelligent when they obviouTo Jonathan Goodluck Now that you are the standard bearer for the pdp, let us see some action towards having a free and fair elections. Don't forget this is one of your cardinal goals when you were elevated from the position of VP. I know you just hurridily read a prepared speech made up for you as a spur of the moment thing on the day you were made Acting President, like the Bible says a Vow is a debt, if you are truly a christain as you proferred make sure this is one debt you would quickly pay back, as u know our lord God doe's not take bribe. ![]() |
Winning Elections is an aphrodisiac, would Jonthan now stick to his one term plan or would want to run again. We shall see. ![]() |
He has finally contested and won handsomely too. Kudos to him, I think he would win the Preisdential too. |
Hon Obahigbon IN HIS Law School Days an encounter with a fellow collegue My initial contact with him was not entirely auspicious. In our first encounter we disagreed about certain seating arrangements in a tutorial session, and exchanged words and glances which were far from cordial. But to his eternal credit, at the end of the session, he walked up to me, with his hand extended in a gesture of friendship, and declared in his unmistakable baritone voice: ‘My name is Pat Obahiagbon formerly of the University of Benin, you and I stand to gain much more from each other by being friends than by being enemies.’ He was a class act and I have not, even till this day, forgotten that memorable encounter. And neither have I forgotten what ensued in the tutorial session that day. For Pat was to take centre stage in the most riveting fashion in a run-in with the tutorial master of the day; a man widely regarded as being very eccentric and an expert on the subject in view; a certain Mr. Adubi. As it happens, it fell to Pat to analyse a rather difficult question for the benefit of the class. And his attempt to unravel it proceeded thus: Pat: ‘With respect sir, this question indents on omnibus.’ Mr. Adubi: ‘I beg your pardon’. Pat: ‘Sir, I say again, that this questions indents on omnibus.’ Mr. Adubi: ‘Mr. Man, please come down to my level. Please have another go at it. And this time, please remember that even the vener able Lord Denning uses language that is easily understandable by children’. Pat: ‘Okay sir, I shall have another go. With respect sir, I submit that this question is a cul-de-sac’. At this point in the exchange, the tutorial class burst into fits of laughter. But Pat remained unperturbed insisting that the question was inaccessible to reason and therefore beyond resolution. That encounter was to be for me, a prelude to, and a basis for, many more entertaining encounters between us; encounters which would leave me in stitches of laughter, but much richer in stock of vocabulary. From then on, whenever I saw him, I was quick to seek his views on topical issues affecting the country. On one occasion, I sought his views on General Babangida’s administration; to which he responded: ‘General Babangida’s rule has left Nigeria in a state of higgledy-piggledy.’ On another occasion, I asked him what his views were on the prospects of a political battle between the Ibrus and the Igbenidions in the old Bendel State. He looked me square in the eye and said: ‘Bendel State is about to witness a state of political kamikaze’. In an entirely different setting before a full class of candidates, he challenged a lecturer on his perceived failings in providing certain important literature in a timely fashion; telling him on that occasion: ‘Your failure to provide this pertinent literature, on time, has left us in a state of maniacal bewilderment.’ But this was not to be his best contribution to the verbal arts. In another dramatic encounter in which he volunteered to read out a specific provision of a piece of legislation, and to do so verbatim; he could not resist the temptation of adding his distinctive stamp to the task, and in doing provoking the ire of the lecturer leading the session. The text in question read, and I quote: ‘If a legal practitioner objects …’ But in his rendering, he said: ‘If a legal practitioner demurs …’ To which the lecturer cried out on hearing, “where do you see the word ‘demur' in the text?” Pat was quick to respond in firm style, saying to the lecturer: “Madam, ‘demur’ is another word for ‘object’.” The lecturer was not impressed. And she went on to threaten him with failure in his exams, should he decide to adopt such an approach in his finals. At this point, the whole class erupted in laughter. Pat is a loquacious man and one given to bombast; but his exotic vocabulary, no matter how highfalutin, is properly founded in the dictionary, as even a cursory check will reveal. Although, prosodically, he may not be the most poetic sounding in his delivery, he is nonetheless, a master of his art. Over the years, on occasion, I have thought about Pat and wondered about his well being. And, anytime I am opportuned to meet anyone from the University of Benin from that period, I am always quick to ask after his welfare. So, it was particularly satisfying to discover recently, that he now pursues a career in politics; a profession which guarantees and provides him with a ready platform and audience. |
Like they say in our part of the world that a defeat is a mirage not a reality, destinies do change in Nigeria, in fact Nigerians have a spare key to the book of Life, a defeat can become victory overnight, if the necessary palms are greased. We have seen Murderers winched out of a jail house, hauled into an aircraft on a first class ticket and transported in style to the nation’s capital to be the chief cheer-person to Jo-Boy. Take heart, Quidvis est possibile” or anything is possible Mr honourable. |
Another good eulogy that needs to be on this thread for the honoured member!! The news of Patrick Obahiagbon losing his primary election has me suffused with emotional narcolepsy. In fact, i find myself oscillating between the umbra and penumbra of disabling catalepsy! |
ON HEARING YOU LOST YOUR COVETED SIT IN THE HOUSE I hope it is not true that our only and mastery parlitician in no other person than obahiagbon has lost his coveted sit in that citadel of clowns, the only voice of reasons in that heaven of gluttonic excesses, who is going to come to albeit in his mastery grammer to help and salvage the down and trodden from the trojan horses called big wigs who tramp on the populace w ithout fear and favour. To them the mases are dispensable turkeys who can be shot at as a sport for amusement, no wonder eleweomo the Ibadan thug not the most honest of men got the treatment from the rifle of men who were playing and preactising the sports of kings on their subjects. The subjects in the their naivety rather than clamour for release from their dire strangulation in their indolence and illetracy praise these blood suckers to the high havens, hoping that, that one dollar spoken and talked about in every relevant ecomomic indices can become a reality, they know within their own conscience that, that one dollar is some dollar too many. The facetious modus operandi of disgruntled and disaffected elements, who presume that the esteemed Grammar Meister Extraordinaire has been vanquished, liquidated, subjugated and rendered incommunicado, must NEVER be allowed to prevail in ANY contest of substance into which mortals are cast by the whimsical twists of fate and misfortune, particularly in the context of today's manifestly destabilizing cross currents whose cardinal significance modulates the prevailing locus standi, in a continuously variable manner. Are u sure Jakumo you are not the honoured honourable because your investiture is similar if not a plagiarize thought of the honoured member ![]() |
Adieus Honourable, I know the moons ahead would be some Anuuls horribilis for u, especially missing out on the egunje’s that u and your colleagues have become accustomed to, life outside that halo chambers of debauchery, greed and El-doradonic living is not easy. Parapoism which you vehemently preached without fear or favour has in way come to swallow you, if not haunt you in all her direct deliriousness whether it was designed by faith or it was engineered by your detractors, your vocabulary & grammar would definitely be missed. Since you became an icon and a shinning beacon in that house of horror, surprisingly our youngsters have developed an usual and peculiar past-time of throwing big grammars at one and another albeit for the fun of it without them knowing they are and have been enriching their own vocabulary word banks in leaps and bounds. Another trend that would endure in the psyche of many young Nigerians is the rather salient and latent interest in “Latin” that dying language of grace and favour, a language so supreme that used to be the at behest of Kings, Princes, Princess, and other royalties in Europe which they spoke with pride and gloria. Who would now give us that un-defined, unadulterated, clear & concise analysis of what the Government is doing? You would surely be missed “ ammo domini” please do not commit “ felo de se”(suicide)…………… |
You also forgot to mention that GEJ'S win yesterday halted any ideology on zoning ever again in NigeriaIn a way Jonathan’s is a breathe of fresh air, a clean-break from the old ways of doing things, so would be Ribadu. I think Jonathan would be a change man if he eventually wins the Presidency because then he would know this is my own mandate. So either way it would be a Win-Win for Nigeria. Not too sure about Buhari thus. ![]() |
Whether we like it or not the dividends of democracy has come to stay and it is been rooted in Nigeria albeit not the type we all dream, fraternize and fascinate our minds with but then it is a first step to better things to come, certainly 10,000 times better than those gun-totting bastaaaards in uniform who for 40 years share the booty known as “Bonny Light” with friends and limited family members thereby making and denying millions of Nigerians any iota of civility, development and progress. Thank God today 469 members in the house of Assembly and 109 Senators are been remunerated to the tune of a $1 million dollars a year (minimum salary only God knows how much they take home). Did I hear someone say Democracy has not taking root in Africa’s biggest country but Kleptocracy, that person must be living in cuckoo land, with an average number of 80 delegates from the 36 states in the federation, who would be going home a lot happier than if we were in a military regime, one must not lose sight of the largesse shared amongst what would have been the down and trodden our society, a lot would be going home with bags of rices, beans and a fistful of dollars. We have to remind ourselves that this is just PDP’s delegates 80x36= 2,880 PDP families smiling all the way to their Banks this weekend, only a mad man would want to truncate this democratic experience. I have to remind our many democratic detractors that we have not even taken the delagates of the ACN, APGA,CPC, Labour and ANPP into the equation so whether we like it or not more booty’s would be shared when all these parties have their convention. What of the political beneficiaries of our democratic experience, the almighty Governors, our State House of Assembly men, our LG Chairmen and Coucillors, let us do the maths again just to remind those little ones who seem to be fascinated by a well dress young military man in uniform. At the last count I think we have 36 powerful Governors(one was jocularly said to be prepared to bankroll the UN if they run into any hardship when the said Governor met the last UN Sec Koffi Annan in New York), Assuming we have 30 House members in each State that would give us a mouth watering figure of 1,080 State House of Assembly members not taking the 774 LG Chairmen into account, the figure even gets more ridiculous when we take the number of councillors into the equation, assuming there are 6 Councillors in each LG that would give us an un-imaginable and unfathomably figure of 4,644 people directly benefiting from our democratic experience and dividends. In Igbo they say “ me shunu” keep quite Democracy has come to stay whether you like it or not, there are just too many families who would be on the bread-line if we allow this albeit weird, African and unbalance experience to fail. All we can do is just tweak it here and there until such a time we get it right. Three Gbosa for Democracy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
The fact is the sham of the primaries was commited in the states. By the time the delegates got to Abuja they have been panel-beating into a shape like a mother scolding an unruly child. Is that democracy, I suppose so, only in Africa uhmmmm. ![]() |
