Outside Lagos, it is very very rare to see other nigerians in other yoruba towns like Abeokuta, Ogbomosho, Ibadan etc. I went to my home town, Ondo town in Ondo State for Gani Fawahenmi’s burial recently and I must say that the Igbos have over-run the town. All the shops in the business areas of the town Yaba and Surulere belongs to Igbo people. I now said to my brother that is what u get when indigenes run away from their roots to Lagos and beyond. I even predicted to my brother that I will not be surprise if Igbo’s end up running the 2 LG Chairmanship post in the town in the next few years. Another thing that surprise me is these Igbo’s whilst I was speaking to them in English they were replying in Ondo- Yoruba, I thought to myself these guys can lay claim to the town than even natives like me since the only Yoruba I can speak is general Yoruba spoken in Ibadan where I grew up. Saying Yoruba’s are not accommodating and Lagos is the only Yoruba Town you will find other Nigerians is a fallacy. |
The question asked was simple and straight forward enough (see bold text in the quote above). He or she didn't ask about the fundamentals of democratic system (i.e. vote, a simple majority carries). You need at least a vision; and ideologies that should guide this vision. For instance, will the party shrink government size to reduce excessive government control and give room to private initiatives. Will the party pursue a fiscally responsible and/or a populist agenda. If you can not highlight this clearly, then I would have to question the judgement of the so called party and its leaders. You dont have to question any leaders, the party is still in its formative state, and u are part nof its leaders that is assuming u are joining our fold. But having said tht u have raised a fundermental point, in the weeks and months to come the core policies of the party will be un-ravelled comprehensively. But this does not mean that those policy statement are written in stone, they are still subject to deliberation and review by the party congress men. |
Why should any rational person be intimidated by thieves, enemies of the state? They are not big names but big rogues that needs weeding out. Your idea could be it,if taken seriously. For those of us in Nigeria, when the Iboris, Alams or even the OBJ's open their mouths we start to shiver. Dont forget the OBJ's of this world where salvaged from the Nigeria gulags by well meaniningful Nigerians who felt he would be an acceptable compromise candidate. He turned out be a disater and a shame and embarassment to Nigerians of Yoruba extraction. |
what a laudable idea i've been cracking my brains along this very idea and now that you've come up with i'd say count me wholly in my brother.change is what we need and with a movement like this things will never be the same.we say no to politics as usual and yes we can bring about a change. God bless you my bro im repping edo state . Keep the horn blaring n the flag of change flying and always remember not to forget that you are not alone on this It is good to know Nigerians like u know u are equal b4 the law as the obasanjos, the yarduas or the Iboris who we wish to put where he belongs if found guity by our courts. Anyway membership at this moment is a 2 prong thing, those that want to be party congress members who will be contributing towards the upkeep of the party and ordinary members who are priveedge to donate what their hearts desire. We shall not shy from a 1 kobo donation nor we will be intimidated by a one billion donation, as long as we acheive our altimate goals. |
It has to be noted and emphasised that I knowAll, I am just one member out of an anticipated 1800 comrades, I cannot influence decision even in my state as I will only be one voice out of 49 other voices let alone influence decision nationally. This is a party steep in core democratic principles. Even If we were to compromise our stance which we will not, in other to let in some sugar daddies, for such sugar daddies to influence votes will be a Herculean task. OBJ couldn’t get his 3rd term even after spending a lot of our common-wealth as bribes. |
Don’t be intimidated by the big names around, our constitution is a robust piece of document, those big names u hear every day where once Mr nobody’s like u and I. They believe in something and they went after their dreams, don’t change the dream u had, follow it to its logical end and u will definitely get to the promise land. All hail NRP, NRP ! NRP !! NRP !!! |
Nice idea behind it all but what are the founding principles and ideology? It should not necessarily be a come-all-to-fight-a-common-enemy then fight-yourselves-when-the-enemy-is-dead. You need to elucidate on the ideology behind your party so as to reduce the risks after the fight. History has shown that it is easier to fight for something than to sustain and nurture it when you have won the fight for it. The buck stops with the 1800 Congress men, all decison will be put to a vote, a simple majority carries the day on all decision no matter how miniscle the idea might be. The Soludo Saga that we all witnessed in the PDP will not happen in our party. |
Funding No grass will turn green without water, comrades are open to ideas on funding, but initial funding will be from the 1800 congressmen and women from the states. Donations will also be welcome from other organisations and cooperate bodies. The figure bounced around is N25,000.00 a month. This will add up to just about N45 million a year, in the 5 year period that we plan to come out in a full force we should have just below N200 Million considering certain amount would have been budgeted for the 2011 elections and for adverts. We might need a few benevolent Sugar Daddies but we will not lower our standards or compromise our stance. It will be a joint decision of all 1800 members on whom to let in or out. |
Tafawa Balewa Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (December 1912 – January 15, 1966) was a Nigerian politician, and the first prime minister of an independent Nigeria. Originally a trained teacher, he became a vocal leader for Northern interest as one of the few educated Nigerians of his time. He was also an international statesman, widely respected across the African continent as one of the leaders who encouraged the formation of the Organization of African Unity (OAU). [b] Early life and career[/b ]Abubakar Balewa was born in Bauchi, the son of a Bageri Muslim district head in the Bauchi divisional district of Lere. He started early education at the Koranic School in Bauchi and like most of his contemporaries, he studied at the Katsina College for further education and soon acquired his teaching certificate. He returned to Bauchi to teach at the Bauchi Middle School. In 1944, along with a few learned teachers from the north, he was chosen to study abroad for a year at the University of London's Institute of Education. Upon returning to Nigeria, he became an Inspector of Schools for the colonial administration and later entered politics. He was elected in 1946, to the colony's Northern House of Assembly, and to the Legislative Assembly in 1947. As a legislator, he was a vocal advocate of the rights of northern Nigeria, and together with Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, who held the hereditary title of Sardauna of Sokoto, he founded the Northern People's Congress (NPC). From self-government to independence Balewa administration Balewa entered the government in 1952 as Minister of Works, and later served as Minister of Transport. In 1957, he was elected Chief Minister, forming a coalition government between the NPC and the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC), led by Nnamdi Azikiwe. He retained the post as Prime Minister when Nigeria gained independence in 1960, and was reelected in 1964. Prior to Nigeria's independence, a constitutional conference in 1954 had adopted a regional political framework for the country, with all regions given a considerable amount of political freedom. The three regions then were composed of diverse cultural groups. The premiers and some prominent leaders of the regions later took on a policy of guiding their regions against political encroachment from other regional leaders. Later on, this political environment influenced the Balewa administration. His term in office was turbulent, with regional factionalism constantly threatening his government. However, as Prime Minister of Nigeria, he played important roles in the continent's formative indigenous rule. He was an important leader in the formation of the Organization of African Unity and creating a cooperative relationship with French speaking African Countries. He was also instrumental in negotiations between Moise Tshombe and the Congolese authorities during the Congo Crisis of 1960-1964. He led a vocal protest against the Sharpeville Massacre of 1960 and also entered into an alliance with Commonwealth ministers who wanted South Africa to leave the Commonwealth in 1961. However, a treason charge and conviction against one of the western region's leaders, Obafemi Awolowo, led to protest and condemnation from many of his supporters. The 1965 election in the region later produced violent protests. Rioting and violence were soon synchronous with what was perceived as inordinate political encroachment and an over-exuberant election outcome for Awolowo's western opponents. As Prime Minister of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, from 1960 to 1961, doubled as Foreign Minister of Nigeria. In 1961, he relinquished the position in favour of Jaja Wachuku who became, from 1961 to 1965, the First substantive Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Relations, later called External Affairs. It has being noted and observed, obviously with the benefit of hind-sight that the country moved at lighting speed within the first 6 years of Independence than the subsequent 43 years. In fact the country has fallen below the levels of the 1960’s with the power problem we are now facing today, we are actually at pre- 1945 levels. The train that was de-railed in January 1966, will be fixed by the NRP so that we can continue our journey to utopia. |
Nnamdi Azikwe Azikiwe was born on November 16, 1904 in Zungeru, northern Nigeria to Igbo parents.[2] Nnamdi means "My father is alive" in the Igbo language.[3] After studying at the Methodist Boys' High School in Lagos,[4] Azikiwe went to the United States. While there he attended Howard University, Washington DC[5] before enrolling and graduating from Lincoln University, Pennsylvania in 1930. He obtained a masters degree in 1933 from a prestigious Ivy League institution, the University of Pennsylvania.[6] He worked as an instructor at Lincoln before returning to Africa. [edit] Newspaper career After teaching at Lincoln, Azikiwe, in November 1934, took the position of editor for the African Morning Post, a daily newspaper in Accra, Ghana. In that position he promoted a pro-African nationalist agenda. Smertin has described his writing there: "In his passionately denunciatory articles and public statements he censured the existing colonial order: the restrictions on the Africans' right to express their opinions, and racial discrimination. He also criticised those Africans who belonged to the 'elite' of colonial society and favoured retaining the existing order, as they regarded it as the basis of their well being."[7] As a result of publishing an article on May 15, 1936 entitled "Has the African A God?" written by I.T. A. Wallace-Johnson he was brought to trial on charges of sedition. Although he was found guilty of the charges and sentenced to six months in prison, he was acquitted on appeal. He returned to Lagos, Nigeria, in 1937 and founded the West African Pilot which he used as a vehicle to foster Nigerian nationalism. He founded the Zik Group of Newspapers, publishing multiple newspapers in cities across the country. [edit] Political career After a successful journalism enterprise, Azikiwe entered into politics, co-founding the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) alongside Herbert Macaulay in 1944. He became the secretary-general of the National Council in 1946, and was the following year elected to the Legislative Council of Nigeria. In 1951, he became the leader of the Opposition to the government of Obafemi Awolowo in the Western Region's House of Assembly. In 1952, he moved to the Eastern Region, and was elected to the position of Chief Minister, and in 1954 became Premier of Nigeria's Eastern Region. On November 16, 1960, he became the Governor General and on the same day became the first Nigerian named to the Queen's Privy Council.[4] With the proclamation of a republic in 1963, he became the first President of Nigeria, while Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was the Prime Minister. Today as Politcal Pundits who know our stuff, the internet is the new newspaper houses of yesteryears, our angers; disappointments abound on this messaging board. It is time we take our political careers to the next level, just like Macaulay and Azikwe. The NRP is anxiously awaiting new pioneer comrades who are willing to help move our nation to the next level. It is easy to join now as a founding member whilst we are still thin on the ground, don’t leave it too late. |
Herbert Macauley Herbert Macaulay was born in Lagos on November 14, 1864. He was the grandson of bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther and the son of the founder of the first secondary school in Nigeria.[1]. After going to a Christian missionary school, he took a job as a clerk at the Lagos Department of Public Works. From 1891 to 1894 he studied civil engineering in Plymouth, England. On his return, he worked for the Crown as a land inspector. He left his position in 1898 due to growing distaste for Nigeria's position as a British colony. [edit] As an opponent of British rule Herbert Macaulay was an unlikely champion of the masses. A grandson of Ajayi Crowther, the first African bishop of the Niger Territory, he was born into a Lagos that was divided politically into groups arranged in a convenient pecking order – the British rulers who lived in the posh Marina district, the Saros and other slave descendants who lived to the west, and the Brazilians who lived behind the whites in the Portuguese Town. Behind all three lived the real Lagosians, the masses of indigenous Yoruba people, disliked and generally ignored by their privileged neighbours. It was not until Macaulay’s generation that the Saros and Brazilians even began to contemplate making common cause with the masses. Macaulay was one of the first Nigerian nationalists and for most of his life a strong opponent of British rule in Nigeria. As a reaction to claims by the British that they were governing with "the true interests of the natives at heart", Macaulay wrote: "The dimensions of "the true interests of the natives at heart" are algebraically equal to the length, breadth and depth of the whiteman's pocket."[2] In 1908 he exposed European corruption in the handling of railway finances and in 1919 he argued successfully for the Chiefs whose land had been taken by the British in front of the Privy Council in London. As a result, the colonial government was forced to pay compensation to the chiefs. In retaliation for this and other activities of his, Macauley got jailed twice by the British.[3] Macaulay became very popular and on June 24, 1923, he founded the Nigerian National Democratic Party (NNDP), the first Nigerian political party. The party won all the seats in the elections of 1923, 1928 and 1933.[4] This is a new dawn, Nigerians can rejoice, join the movement. |
Okay, is it that when the Nigerian Revolutionary Party comes into power, the will let the people of Nigeria embark on a much needed revolution to cleanse out the those that have always needed to be cleansed out. I love the idea of the party, but what is the ULTIMATE aim? To "capture" power or to start the Revolution We are a democratic Institution; if the Nigerian Constitution does not recommend the death penalty on corrupt Political Office holders then we cannot really do much. But if we have an overwhelming majority in the National House of Assembly then we can tweak and change the constitution to what our Party Congress-men desire. |
@ Citizen Y Lets be up to strenght before we registere, we cannot register while we are still under strenght. Inital vacancy is for 1800 Congressmen, 50 from each state (Not to be mistaken for the Natinal Assembly members) from THE 36 States, the Congressmen will be the tink-tank and main and final decision making body of the party. Everything about this political Party will adhere to basic democratic principles. |
Ondo State 1. KnowAll 2. 3. 4. Anambra State 1. 2. 3. 4. Katsina State 1. 2. 3. 4. Bayelsa State 1. 2. 3. 4. And so on and so forth. |
I will like to be a congress member representing Ondo State, that means we need 49 more comrades. |
Nigeria Revolution Party, TO ALL POLITCAL PUNDITS IN NAIRALAND THE CHANCE YOU HAVE BEING WAITING FOR NRP – Has 20,000 Political Vacancy to be filled throughout the country and that includes the post of the Presidency and Vice Presidency. Aim and Objectives of the party 1. I read in the news this week that the Nigerian GDP will surpass that of South Africa by 2012. If you vote for the NRP, Nigerian GDP will surpass South Africa in 16 months. 2. The aim of this new party is to gain a foothold and be exemplary in any ward, LG, Federal Constituency, State Constituency, State Government and the almighty Federal Government. Any constituency we win or falls within our jurisdiction will be a bastion of civility, transparency, orderliness, progress and a beacon of hope to the hopeless. 3. We shall not draw salaries, nor wages, or entitlements, our constituents will recommend food and sustenance allowances for her leaders through out the tenure in office. We shall declare our assets before and after leaving office. In the event of loss in an election severance pay will be attached to the number of jobs created however in the event that no jobs where created due to poor performance a minimum severance pay of N8 million will be paid for governorship candidates and N2 million for Chairmanship, with N750,00,00 being what will be paid councillors. You have to remember we are servants to the people and not lord of the manor. Politics is not about making money, it is about serving. 4. No current Political jobbers will be allowed to join this party without going through a forensic screening exercise, this party is targeting the youths, this is their party, this is their baby, if Yakubu Gowon can be head of state at the young age of 26 years and Ojukwu Governor of Eastern Region in his early 30’s so also our restless, wise, energetic and political savvy youths. 5. Adolf Hitler started his revolution in the early 1920’s, he only gained power 10 years later apart from the unfortunate wars he started he did well adminstratively, he actually lifted Germany as a country from the doldrums and depression of the 1920’s into a strong and enviable superpower by the mid 1930’s, his achievements and successes include building one of the 1st motorways anywhere in the world the famous German Auto bahns are still visible today, there was almost full employment by 1935, he built a people’s car Volkswagen making sure all those that needed a car could get one, he did so many positive things that is worthy of emulation, the NRP is interested in this part of Hitler’s economic blue print that made Germany a super-power within 15 years. 6. There will be a people’s congress, 50 delegates from 36 states of the federation. The congress shall choose her leaders. The congress will screen all current Political Jobbers who for one reason or the other wants to join our fold, the essence of the screening will be to separate wheat from the chaff, only allowing those of impeccable character that the congress feel are worthy comrades. This is necessary as it will not be wise to taint all current Political Jobbers with the same brush. There are some shinning beacons amongst the numerous rut e.g Fashola of Lagos State, if a PDP speaker can talk positively of this gentleman, whilst at the same time lambasting her own corrupt Governors, that speaks volume, a party like ours will be damned to ignore such encouraging statements. 7. We shall redeem the image of Nigeria, the giant that has being in coma for 49 years will be resuscitated and brought back to life. This giant will be the envy of the world, and it would take its place amongst the community of wealthy nations. 8. 100% Employment will be one of the cornerstones and target of our manifesto, there will be the Annual Un-employment Jamboree every October 1, the aim of this jamboree is to register, identify, and provide the skills required for our youths. 9. We have identified that the resources of our great Nation is not the oil seeping out of the ground in the South-South but her human resources. If little Britain with ½ of the population of Nigeria can bring in £460 billion yearly from taxes we see no reason why our great nation cannot supersede this figure, why kill each other over $35 billion oil revenue yearly when we can do better. 10. There is a thread in the Travel Section, the sights, sounds and wonderful infrastructures the South African government is putting in place in preparation for that country’s hosting of the football world cup. It is amazing, the first bullet train in Africa will be built by the Zuma led Government. Look at my country nothing is being built anywhere, our rickety railway line is going to be up-graded and replaced by another old rickety technology instead of our leaders to embrace the latest technology they are awarding contracts for old out-dated rickety train stocks for the cost it takes to build new modern fast train lines. ( we hope we get hold of this old stock this time around having already ordered the same stock twice ). Corruption is endemic, contract inflation is widespread and outright abandoning of projects is as common in our polity as fleas and mosquitoes is common in the tropics. 11. Don’t doubt us, Yes we can. Vote NRP for Presidency 2011. Obama did it so we can 12. A Journey of a 1000 miles starts with the first step, the journey starts now. 13. The mega party of Buhari-Tinubu-Bafawara-Atiku-Falae will fail, they are spent forces the country needs young fresh un-diluted blood. The country is in dire need of blood transfusion, we the youths can make it happen. 14. Vote Nigerian Revolution Party come 2011, and you will be proud of being a Nigerian. 15. The post of the Presidency shall be left open for some well meaningful and forensically checked current personalities. This is not a rigid rule as further deliberation on this matter will be discuss by our 50 congress men and women as to the way forward regarding the post of the Presidency and VP. 16. Every other post is ups for grabs. 17. Dont forget poitical movement like this started in the 1920's by people like Herbert Macauley, Nanmadi Azikwe led to our Independence in 1960. Now we need a second Independence from the rogues, theives, and bandits that have hijacked our country, the NRP is prepared to wrestle and grab power from these hoodlums who have led our country down the the slippery slope for 49 years, NRP intend to grabs power through the ballot box and not through any other means. Put Your Name to Your state, we shall wait for all 36 states to be filled out then we can call a National Congress early next year. We intend to put in a candidate for the Anambra State Governorship election if it is not too late to register our party otherwise we shall concentrate on the 2011 and 2015 elections. The 2015 is the target election, but by 2011, we want our people to be in some relevant position by 2011. Your aliases will do for now. |
SO I am guessing you are not going to address the issues I raised? I have already address the issue of a blanket ban of Okada riders in my earlier post, I said the whole exercise is an aesthetic policy of no intrinsic value to society other than the authorities excluding and disregarding the yearnings, pain, and the wellbeing of 85% of the Society. To encourage what is clearly an elitist agenda to the detriment of society at large is not only going to spell doom and disaster for that society but clearly as we can see the early stage of the balkanisation of the Nigerian polity has already begun; it remains to see how far this rut will be allowed to slide before it is stopped. I hope our clueless leaders will come to their senses and know that a flagrant pronouncement against the most vulnerable in our society is not governance but bullying and harassment. I sincerely hope our leaders will re-trace there steps and rescind all repressive and draconian laws which is anti-societal and apartheid in nature. The Issue of Okada bikers involved in criminality can be addressed on a one to one basis, it is not any different from Danfo drivers involve in One-Chance. Should because Danfo drivers are involve in this social ills be banned from plying our roads. I am sure u can answer that. |
^^^^^^^^^^ My friend I pray you are not cornered by one of those hoard of desperate men 120,000, those that have experience the menace and assault of these desperados will sing a with a different tune. Those feeling the heat of these marauding mass of joblessness have already taking necessary step to correct the anomaly and that includes the FG, when they hit u where it hurts most u take notice of their plights, no wonder people like Boyloaf and Tompolo are feted in the highest office in the land. |
I hope Forbes magazine is reading this article, they can go ahead and de-list him from that exclusive and privilege class of humans. |
why are u guys shouting, it happened in phc and abuja and all the okada men have found new jobs to do, some are taxi drivers and etc, and no body is complaining anymore.calabar has a more organized road network unlike phc, so it wont be a burden on the citizens, motorcycles are a nuisance and easiest way to broken limbs and death. It is good to think outside the box, the problem with some of us is we are looking at the small picture, those irritating uncontrollable and unruly motorcycle riders bellowing polluted air into horizon; it is a good riddance to bad rubbish. What we have failed to realise is the net effect and the repercussion of the ban. The obvious consequence of this ill thought and hastily endorsed policy in Port Harcourt is of 2 folds, firstly, kidnapping incidents in eastern region in particular and the whole Nigeria in general has increased by 1000%, secondly the size of the insurgency in the creeks has quadrupled. It doesn’t help when States like Imo and Abia went down the same inglorious route by copying an ill conceived policy from Rivers State, what we now have is an endemic problem that is about to consume the whole nation. Today the militants who use to be a few disorganize marihuana smoking crazed youths with guns have swollen in size and can now be classified as a brigade. A Brigade in military parlance means having between 4000 to 5000 men under arms in a command structure. Naija delta militants are no more restricted to Bayelsa and Rivers State but have a western command that stretches all the way to Ondo State. I will not be surprise to know that they have even infiltrated the lagoons and creeks of Lagos State. If this is not the wholesome effect of the ban of Okada bikers in PH, then what could be further from the truth? What could have led young able men into a struggle which could culminate in the loss of their own life if not hunger, desperation and despair? ![]() |
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-344002.0.html Look at what South Africa is building for the world cup next year, compared that to the 1940's and 1950's technology Nigeria is eargely embracing in 2009. |
Banning of Okada is an insensitive and elitist law that will impoverish half of the city of Calabar. The fact that all it takes a hungry-man is to hop on his bike, do some run-around for a few hours and bingo like magic there is enough meal on the table for the wife and kids and there is pocket money for the kids to take to school. This mundane and subsistence livelihood will suddenly be snapped from the jaws of 120,000 individuals, if one were to consider the wives and children that will be affected by this in-humane law, then we are looking at a staggering figure of 450,000 people, It will mean the govement in her attempt to sanitise the city for the benefit of the few hundred upper class and middle class people have thrown 1/2 a million people to the dogs. To support such a draconian law in a country where the is no income support is to suport indirect genocide, kwasikor epidemy , incessant and uncontrollable crime, and militancy. I thought the govement is meant to be the servant of the people and not the other way round. People wonder why there is armed robbers all over the place without actually taking stock of what policies the govement are dishing out to the people. The Irony is that the stupid Governors that make such horrendous insensitive laws are not at the receiving end of men of the under-world, it is the innocent jobless citizens that feels the brunt. The govement has no right to ban people's right to exist and fed for themselves. This is just an aesthetic law rather than a humane or altruistic one. |
It's kind of insulting to say that there are 1 million people in Cross River, one of the biggest states in Nigeria. Even the 1991 (shabby) census put them at 2 million. We are talking of Calabar City, go and read the article again, it is about Calabar and not Cross River State in general. Why would any sane govement ban Okada in rural Cross River State that is incomprenhensible. ![]() |
Me I dont hate Nigeria oh, Why should I hate Nigeria, It is like a tadpole who thinks she is a fish, and one day saw a frog by the banks of the river only for her to abuse the frog saying " men u are very ugly" not knowing one day she will grow up to become a frog. Nigerians are always travelling back and forth and role reversals happen every minute, hour, day, month and yearly. Some of my mates who have clocked 10 to 15 years in England have all gone back to Niaja, if u call them Diasporas they will fight you. Yet there are a lot of Nigerians who are in Nigeria at the moment who will in the next few days, months, or years join the Diaporas community so why call each other names or say u hate your country. Political Diasporas that are now Nigerians who will not find it funny if you call them Diasporas are Gbenga Daniels Dimeji Bankole James Ibori Proffesor Iwu Tinubu Fani-Kayode John Fashanu Those who where Nigerians but now Diasporas Ribadu El- Rufai Eratus Akingbola Chinua Achebe |
The new directive will affect more than half of the 120,000 commercial cyclists (called Alalook) in the city 120,000 human beings except this statistics is wrong, what is the population of Calabar. It will mean 1 in 10 persons in Calabar is an okada rider that is assuming the population is 1 million. If there is any truth in this statistics I am afraid the state will be under seige in the not too far future. Men of the over-world who are simply plying their trade with all honesty and sincerity will become men of the under-world. I just hope the goverment of Cross River State has the resources and the wherewithal to stop it in its tract, the anticipated sudden avalanche of hungry and desperate maurauders, that will descend on calabar like a tone of bricks. |
Soludo is not really a hero but dat gworo chewing Governor who have decided to kill d last vestige of capitalism in Nigeria is making him look like a Hero. |
What Fashola should do is take 72 federal police 2 commisoner, 4 Supretendent, and 6 Inspectors. The rest 60 officers will be ranks pivate to sergeant. He should divide Lagos into 6 operational zones. Each operational area will be led by an inspector, and 9 men armed to the teecth, with laser targeting rifles, snipers rifle to the top of the range sub-machine guns. Funding Since they are drawn from d federal Police there Salaries will still be paid by the Feds. What will happen will be assuming a Supretendent gets 30,000 a month Fashola will be paying them 90,000.00 plus a decent accomodation. The same salary structure will be replicated through out the ranks from commisioner to private. Funtions There main task will be to confront armed robbers fire for fire just like the swat in the USA and the SO19 in the Uk. These are crack units, when they are not fitghting crime they busy homing up their targeting skills in their base. This suggestion will auger well for both d federal authorities and d state. A case or argument for independent STate Police will be unfounded especially with the reservation expressed by political opponents. |
Nigeria will get better if everyone does their own quota and stop passing every goddam thing to a euphoric government as if the government is not us. Thanks again ROSSIKE,posts such as yourz give me hope that Nigeria can still make it if we can be reasonable and more patriotic. Are u proposing that Nigerians take their eyes of the ball so that the Bode George's of Nigeria can continue to plunder the resources of our great nation. This view above sounds and appears as those of a goverment official that is already feeling the heat of constructive critisim. Sycophancy and ass licking is one thing we should banish from our society, it is an endemic disease in our national conscience that requires a prompt and immediate surgery. |
Make na live Bode George the man wants to enjoy his loot, I once read a book written about John Gotti, the last New York Mafia boss, and there was a chapter were they sent the him to a prison in Illinios called marion. John Gotti signed with resignationation and said " oh Marion, I am bleeped the only way u get out of there is in a box" and surely the ony way he got out was in a box. Nigerian prison system for anybody who has enjoyed any semblence of a good life, if care is not taking we get an early relase out in a box b4 u say Bode George. It does not matter whether u are sent in for 90 years in prison or 2 years in prison in Nigeria, for most Nigerian big men a few weeks in our prison system is a de facto death sentence in disguise. has anybody seen our prisoners b4 u wil think they have just come out of Auschwitz the jewish holocaust camp. |
Two years is good start and a good lesson for a man that is accustomed to staying in the best 5 * Hotels all over the world. How I wish the James Ibori's and the Odil's of this world taste these realities of life. Some people say that Yardua, Abiola and other big men who died inside prison during the Abacha years were poisioned, I beg to differ, they died because of the sudden change of the plesant enviroment they were used to. Men who are used to their their air-conditioned cars, air-conditoined houses, and air-conditioned Hotels to find themselves in an in-hospitable and mosquito infested hole called kirikiri or even other harsher places like Gashua in Borno State. A place where Gani picked up his cancer due to the foul smell emanating from within the prison system, such places will definately tell on their health. I can remember when I 1st visited Naija after soujourning for 9 years without stepping foot in Naija, the experience was very harsh, at the time I chose to stay in my mum's house instead of an Hotel, I could not even breath properly and the Mosquitoes had a field day on me. Those 2 years will be like 20 years for Bode Gorge I can gurantee you. |
