Customary law in the south is not the same in any way as sharia up north.

Customary Law is firstly secular and is under the Nigerian constitution . Is not a parallel constitution like sharia because, it doesn't have an enforcement police under it. It deals with Customary ordinances of villagers in land disputes and other family related issues. People involved in the disputes may decide to abandon the judgement and head to the court .

Sharia on the other hand is like the ten commandments constitution, enforceable by the ten commandments police. You can agree with me that customary laws is not similar with the ten commandments laws of Moses.
In sharia and hisbah police, Hausa/fulani North are already practicing regional government while preventing the southern Nigeria from restructuring period.

freedom fighter and agitator for equity, liberty and
human rights over the last one hundred and fifty

They are particularly relevant in the Nigeria of today
where tyranny and injustice runs deep, where any

subversion and is met with brutality and lethal force
and where any telling criticism of the ruling APC
party, government officials or the President is

A few days ago I had a revealing, probing and in-
depth interview with a leading television station
about President Muhammedu Buhari, his record in
office over the last two years, his health and his
governent.

Lai Mohammed, our notoriously excitable and
mendatious Minister of Information, was so upset
and disturbed by the contents of that discussion
that he personally called the television station that
recorded it and told them that the government
would close them down if they dared to air it.
His call was followed by an equally threatening one
from the chief executive of the Nigerian
Broadcasting Corporation who issued the same
threat.

Yet it did not stop there. Femi Adesina, the
President's spokesman, almost defecated in his
pants when he got a whisper of some of the things
that I had revealed and he wondered out loud how I
managed to get all the facts and information that I
shared during the interview.

He begged the station not to air it as well and also
threatened them with dire consequences if they did
so. Sadly the station in question got cold feet,
succumbed to the threats and fell for the blackmail.


I am not surprised by this and neither do I blame
them for doing so. I say this because they, more
than any other, have been subjected to all manner
of harrasment over the years yet despite that they
remain one of the most balanced, professional,
forthright and courageous media outfits in the
country till today.

They are indeed the first amongst equals but they
also know the monsters that they are dealing with
when it comes to the Buhari administration and
they appreciate the fact that they have to be
extreemly careful even when it comes to reporting
what are essentially notorious facts.

They have to be even more careful when it comes to
allowing strong opposition figures like yours truly
and other non-conformists and perceived enemies
of the government to use their powerful platform to
air their personal opinions and strong dissenting
views.

The truth is that this government is vicious and
dangerous and, in my view, they are only one step
away from "disappearing" (Argentinian style)
media practitioners, publishers, essayists,
columnists and writers that are not prepared to bow
down to their unholy will and lick their filthy,
unclean and unwashed posterior.

Simply put they are a chicken-hearted government
that are terrified of their own shadow.
They are a government of uncircumcised Philistines
who were put in power by heathans and
unbelievers and who attract and enjoy the support
of every low-life and apostate from the south side
of hell.

Nothing terrifies them more than public scrutiny and
the glorious light of accountability and truth.
From the top to the bottom they are all the same:
gangsterish and paranoid charlatans who flourish
in darkness and who thrive in division, conflict, lies,
deceit, suppression, threats, murder, violence and
intimidation.

Femi Adesina's cowardice and perfidy particularly is
nothing new. This is the same man that threatened
the publisher of two leading national newspapers to
close my weekly column and that has been begging
and offering inducements to virtually every online
magazine that I write for to stop publishing my
essays.

That is how fearful, feeble, powerless, shameless,
cowardly and paranoid the Buhari government has
become. That is the level of their depravity and that
is the level that they have degenerated to.

They cannot take criticism and they cannot bear
any form of factual and in-depth analysis of their
abysmal and woeful performance.

They do not have the stomach or intellectual
stamina for a strong and lively challenge, for what I
would describe as "hardtalk" or indeed for any form
of virile debate and contentious public discourse.
Simply put they behave like a congress of baboons
and a colony of monkeys. They always run away
from a real fight and a real debate and they are
terrified of those that are ready to take them on.
Instead of attempting to defend themselves in the
court of public opinion they seek to silence the
opposition by the power of their might and they
seek to supress dissent, muscle the media and bury
the truth.


Despite their sheer desperation to hold on to power
at any cost and to cower the people and in spite of
their despicable, tyrannical and inglorious mindset I
have the following to say to them: like satan, your
time is short.

You oppress the people and whip them into line, not
by good works or inspiring leadership, but through
the usage of nothing but intimidation, lies, threats,
blackmail, disinformation, witchunts, fear, hate,
division and terror. Your tactics are as despicable
as they are deplorable.

Yet despite your subjugation and tyranny it will
soon be over for you. The earth and the heavens
have rejected you, the elemental forces oppose you
and the Nigerian people secretly despise you. This
is the doing of the Lord and it is marvelous in our
sight.

You cannot wash away the blood that you have
shed. You cannot erase the memory of your failures
and your atrocities and those that you have
humiliated, destroyed, insulted, tortured,
incarcerated and subjected to persecution and the
most vicious and callous media trials.

You cannot silence the voice of the voiceless, you
cannot intimidate the servant of truth and you
cannot supress the champion of the oppressed.
The finger of the Lord has marked you down for
shame, torment and destruction and the sword of
the Lord has wounded you beyond redemption. The
rats were just the beginning. More miracles and
wonders will soon come.

The truth is that no matter how hard you try to put
out the raging fire and the crisis of confidence that
has afflicted you it will not stop.


Your days are numbered and your end is nigh. The

I have always known the Yorubas to be who they say they are, highly highly sophisticated, intellectual , spiritual, deep thinking, and etc. Although most of them in this characterization voted APC and Buhari into power truly because corruption under Jonathan was so visible..still some of them voted because of Jonathan romance with the Igbos.

For Nigeria/Africa to survive, Yorubas and Igbos must engage themselves Democratically and others will follow period.(but firstly that name "Nigeria" must be dropped because is a slave name from the colonialist filled with African blood, genocide, corruption, underdevelopment, poverty, backwardness,foreign religion intolerance by Africans to themselves, tribalism, infrastructure decays, shorter life span, disease, human trafficking, inertia government and etc). And what do l mean by that??.

If the North(Hausa/Fulanis) can do a partial restructuring of the country for their region by bypassing or forcing the country's secular constitution to create sharia and hisbah police thereby limiting southern infidel prosecutors both under secular constitution and sharia prosecution of their criminals and killers of Christians or arresting Fulani herdsmem killing and roaming allover the place with A K 47s while at the same time monopolizing the secular constitutional proscribments, the Yorubas and Igbos can and must also purse issues of common interest outside the country's secular/sharia constitution.

All it takes is for a powerful Yoruba and Igbo king/Chief to announce to the world that they will sign a peace treaty. Just the announcement only....
and you see wonders in transformation of all regions and all peoples.

Although, Igbos by nature are a migratory group, but the overwhelming concentration of Igbos either in the West or North were as a result of age long marginalization, lack of infrastructure/sea port/international airport and etc. Obasongo is one of the chief architect of the new dysfunctional structure right after the war. You wouldn't know because they also stopped the teaching of Nigerian history in schools. Igbos will always be wiser than Yorubas and Hausa/Fulanis because they are at the receiving end of the "evil" that is Nigeria *note; don't forget, they sacrificed millions in order not to be found all over the North or west.

Our dear brothers from the Southeast in particular have this complex and have created the construct of one big bad Northern Nigeria bent on oppressing them.

However the truth is that the North is more diverse than the South with a greater number of ethnic groups within it.

However, they have largely managed to come together to pursue similar aims often and with Hausa as the adopted language, a strong bond is created. It is fair to say that majority of the ethnic groups in the North are not as big as the Igbos but with the power of unity, it is the former that feel weak.

The reason is not far-fetched, they have not learnt to cooperate within themselves and with other people. A recipe for relegation in politics. Until Southeasterners learn this simple but fundamental lesson, they will have plenty to complain about.

SE have a different ideological and philosophical bearing from the North , and want to get away as far as they can get from either a one North or a United North period.

For sometime now, social media appear deeply buried in an argument between Nigerians of Igbo extraction who want Biafra and other Nigerians who prefer a well restructured country. The former appear convinced that the resurrection of the Restructuring campaign is an attempt to weaken the resolve and unionism of the Biafran agitation while the latter seem to believe the Biafran quest is too extreme and should be replaced with the demand for restructuring which they argue, is more feasible.

It is my view that the whole argument is one hell of a beautiful nonsense, a misplaced priority and monumental distraction, one that will do more harm than good to either camp.

I will try to explain this thus:

Nigeria is like a faulty ATM. The Hausa/Fulanis are the only ones currently withdrawing money from the machine in its faulty state. If this ATM is repaired, everybody will have equal chance of withdrawing according to how much he has in his account. But the hausa/fulani North will loose the undue access to other people's money which the faulty ATM currently confers on him and which he has gotten used to. To this end, it is beyond argument that the North will be willing go to any length to ensure the criminally dubious status quo is maintained.

Following this scenario, the pro-restructuring group seem to be saying, "Oga North, abeg, allow make them repair this ATM nah! Abi e good as only you just dey corrobi the whole money dey go?, If you no let all of us join hand repair this machine, e go soon spoil kpatakpata and when that happens, all of us go loose"

On the other hand, the Biafran group is saying, "look Mr North, nobody come here to look your face, in fact, as you don already over-withdraw our money for inside this machine, we no kukuma wan make dem repair anything again. We simply no wan keep our money for the same bank with you again as you don show us say you no fit conduct your affair as a gentleman"

Meanwhile, due to the fraudulent arrangement Mr North has with the British bank owners when the bank was established, he (mr North) has an edge over the other account owners at the bank. He has successfully resisted the repairing of the faulty ATM just as He has brutally resisted the attempt by one of the partners to take his money away from the bank.

Both the group agitating for the repair of the ATM (Restructuring group) and the other group rooting for the monies in the bank account to be divided and shared to stop the exploitative activities of Mr North (Biafran agitators) all want one thing which is to enthrone justice, fairness and equity in the operation of the Automated Teller Machine. To this end, it is logical to assert that neither of the afor-mentioned groups is the bad guy. The bad guy here is Mr North who has repeatedly opposed every move to peacefully repair this ATM even when he knew it must be repaired now or never. It is very important that we always remember this.

What I find pathetically funny in all of this is that rather than focus on their "peaceful" approach towards getting Mr North to allow for the ATM to be repaired, the "ATM Repair Group(Restructuring)" is busy demonizing the "Divide The Money Group (Biafrans)" accusing them of being extremist in their quest. Listening to them, you will be forgiven to think the Divide The Money Group, and not Mr North, is the one holding down the ATM. You might even be tempted to think the "Divide The Money Group" (Biafrans) just stole the document containing instructions for the repair of the Machine. On their own, those who want the monies divided seem to be under the impression that the agitation of the other group is nothing short of a devilish attempt to weaken their resolve and gift Mr North with the opportunity to keep stealing their collective cash in the ATM.

Mutual suspicion. Accusation and counter accusation between two groups pursuing the same noble cause but via two modus operandi. Meanwhile, Mr North is busy killing the ATM. And, the entire bank, not just the machine, is enroute to Golgota. Shame, isn't it?

It is my humble opinion that the argument and counter argument from both the pro-Restructuring group and the Biafrans are as criminally silly as two slaves of the same slave master expending valuable time and energy, arguing over whether they should escape from their slavery through the window or through the door. What should be your priority as a slave is how to escape from your Master and be a free man! If your fellow slave wants to jump the fence or break a couple of glasses belonging to the slave master in his quest to gain his own freedom, it shouldn't bother you. If you think the door or gate is your own choice, focus all your energy on jumping the gate or breaking the door. What should be your priority is your own freedom, not how your fellow slave is pursuing his.

If you think the train of your fellow slave is not good enough to take you to the land of the freemen, by all means, don't join him but you owe it to both man and God to ensure you don't derail it.

Let's get practical here. The North has always been vehemently opposed to any idea of Restructuring. The Northern Elders Forum and the Arewa Consultative Forum; the two northern power blocks have never hidden their disdain for the term. The current Hausa/fulani govt is opposed to Restructuring. The attorney general, Abubakar Malami, re-affirmed this last week when he stated that no amount of agitation will bring about restructuring. The information minister, Lai Mohammed, was clear enough when he stated that restructuring Nigeria was not in the agenda of the government. Recall that the 1967 Biafra declaration and the subsequent war was basically due to the failure of the Gowon-led govt to honor the Aburi Accord which would have seen the country restructured as a confederation.

For the average Igbo man, the 1967 war and subsequent events have proven that the Nigerian state cannot be trusted to restructure this country. The North has consistently stood against any attempt to correct the grave injustices within the very foundation of the Nigerian system.

Just as the 1967 Ojukwu's Biafra was a product of the failure of the then govt to stop the state-sponsored anti-Igbo pogrom and honor the Aburi accord, this current Biafra agitation championed by Nnamdi Kanu is in response to the same grave injustices, institutionalized marginalization and state-sponsored hate-induced destruction of Igbo lives and properties. President Buhari has caused more division in the country than a million and one Nnamdi Kanu could ever do even in one million years.

If anyone genuinely want this country to be restructured, the person should not waste his time and energy focusing on the pro-Biafran group. Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB are not the problem. They are not the ones stopping Nigeria from being restructured. The Fulani Oligarchs are! Focus on them if you genuinely want Restructuring. Instead, dedicate those articles to how you intend to get the fulani Oligarchs to allow for restructuring. If you succeed in getting Nigeria genuinely restructured, I Charles Ogbu, I am assuring you that the agitation for Biafra will drastically reduce and look less appealing to so many Igbos because 80% of what we want with Biafra which is basically justice, fairness and a merit-based system, will have been provided by a well restructured Nigeria.

The North will do anything to keep Nigeria one and ensure the status quo is maintained but make no mistake, it is all for reasons very far removed from altrustism. They are the biggest and perhaps the only region benefiting from the hopelessly fraudulent arrangement we currently have. A change in the status quo in form of Restructuring will take most of the powers from the centre to the federating units or regions, thereby making the centre less attractive. It will engender equity, justice and fairness by allowing each federating unit/region control her resources and develop at her own pace. But, that will mean striping wealthy Hausa/Fulanis of their firm grip on the Niger Delta oil blocks. The North WILL NEVER allow this unless there is a commensurate pressure which will reasonably threaten them with break-up.

In conclusion, both groups have no reason to war-war. They simply need to keep up the pressure. Even a blind man can see that the activities of Nnamdi Kanu-led IPOB has succeeded in unsettling the Northern Slave Masters to a very reasonable degree. In the end, I can't guarantee that we will get either a well restructured Nigeria or Biafra but I can guarantee that we will get neither of the two options if we keep bickering and fiddling while our Rome is burning.

By the way, where is our number1 employee, Muhammadu Buhari? Who are the political terrorists stopping our Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, from signing the 2017 budget, 6 months into the fiscal year it was meant for?

Prominent leaders from the Southern part of the country yesterday said without restructuring and devolution of powers, there may be no general election in 2019.
This formed part of the discussion held at a colloquium on restructuring organised by the Island Club, Lagos.


The colloquium titled ‘Restructuring: Challenges, implications and the way forward’, was attended by prominent leaders in the South West, South East, South South and the North.


Niger Delta activist, Annkio Briggs, who was one of the discussants said she had the mandate of the Niger Delta people to speak on their behalf. She said if the country does not restructure, there would not be elections in 2019.

Annkio Briggs said: “The country is like a moving train without brakes and in order not to crash, we need to restructure. All regions must come together and agree on restructuring and everybody must say what restructuring means to them, and we must agree on restructuring before 2019 election. There is so much injustice in the country.

“For instance, there are 419 local governments in the North and 365 local government in the South and the north gets far more resources from the Federal Government than the people producing oil in the country. Niger Delta is producing more and getting less.


We must have a new constitution or we can use the 1963 constitution and work on it. We can have a new constitution that will take care of these injustices like the issue of Fulani herdsmen and religion. If we cannot restructure, we should call the zones together to call for a referendum, so that each zone can determine how they want to live.”


The lead discussant, Prof. Stephen Adebanji Akintoye, said the federal government has become inefficient and corrupt because of oil revenue from the Niger Delta. He said the abandonment of export products that were helping Nigeria has become a problem.


“Restructuring has become inescapable for Nigerians. The struggle for a rational federal structure has been a major concern since we were young men. Nigeria needs to restructure due to the harsh effect of the federal structure of Nigeria. Youths in South-East, Niger Delta and South-West are telling us that they do not want to be part of Nigeria anymore. It is under this that the cry for restructuring is growing louder.

“Some people are saying restructuring is a confusing idea and I dare say their strategy is clever, but not clever enough. We want a federalism that is widely acceptable and the best structure is federalism whereby each zone would be a federating unit and control and develop its own resources for the good of its people.

This is the only solution to our nationality problem.The structure we operated in 1963 was very productive because each region had its constitution and controlled its resources,” he said.


Prof. John Ogu, a former Deputy governor of Ebonyi State, who represented the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nwodo, said the marginalisation of the South-East and the unfair treatment meted out to the Igbo from the end of the civil war till date were the factors that aided the rise of separatist groups like the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).


He said: “What IPOB is doing now is a cry for justice.They are saying the Igbo have been treated very badly and have been marginalised since the civil war ended, and it is only restructuring that can remedy some of those wrongs. It can be done by amending the 1999 constitution holistically or by creating a new constitution.

“Restructuring does not mean the disintegration of the country, but making Nigeria a federation and changing the unitary system of government, that the military handed to us, to a federal system of government to ensure security.”
Former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, said restructuring is not about the North against the South.



“Restructuring is decentralising power to make a way from distribution and consuming arrangement for every federating units to increase its fiscal resources for development. The country is on a precipice. No one can predict what will happen on October 1. Any country that cannot boast of security for its citizens and property is not worthy of being called a country. We need to have state and local police to protect the lives of citizens and property. The ruling party has said voters should not vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 because of restructuring, so we are now watching to see whether the All Progressives Congress (APC) will restructure before 2019.”


A former Minister for Information, Labaran Maku, agreed with the consensus on restructuring. He said: “Nigeria needs restructuring. It offers Africa and Africans a great hope if we can reform the structure and its internal powers. The majority of us believe that restructuring will make Nigeria a great country, and these kind of debates are needed to ensure that restructuring works.”


Ayo Adebanjo, a chieftain of Afenifere chastised northern leaders who are opposed to restructuring. “The military introduced this constitution which thrives on a unitary system of government, but you cannot run Nigeria on a military system of government, because we have so many ethnic groups. We have passed that stage where people will try to make us think that restructuring is new. It is not. We must restructure now or the country may not survive. The North does not want to agree on restructuring because they are beneficiaries of the awkwardness of this 1999 constitution which was thrust on us by the military” he said.


General Alani Akinrinade condemned what he described as the deafening silence from most prominent northern elders over the quit notice given to the Igbo living the north before October 1 by northern youths.
He said: “Besides a few northern elders who criticised the northern youths for the quit notice given to the Igbo, I am sad that most of the elders I expected to have condemned it have maintained a deafening silence.”

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has drawn a line on hate speech affirming that it is equivalent to terrorism and would be appropriately dealt with by the Federal Government Drawing inspiration from the Prevention of Terrorism Act (As Amended) 2011, Osinbajo said that such hate speeches intentionally done to intimidate the population is tantamount to terrorism.
The Acting President in a series of tweets on his twitter handle on Thursday afternoon charged leaders to speak up saying that it was such silence that promoted the genocide in Nazi Germany and Rwanda.
“FG has today drawn the line on hate speech. Hate speech is a specie of terrorism. The Terrorism Prevention Act 2011 as amended defines terrorism as an act which deliberately done with malice which may seriously harm a country or is intended or can be reasonably be regarded as having been done to seriously intimidate a population.
“Silence in such situations can only be seen as an endorsement. Hate speech & the promotion of the same through history from Nazi Germany & the extermination of Jews to the Rwandan genocide succeeded in achieving their barbarous ends by the silence of influential voices. The silence of leaders at this time – in our country- will be a grave disservice to our country, its peace & its future.”
The Acting President called on business, religious and political leaders to condemn hate speech in strongest terms especially when such speech came from people of their faith, tribe or group.
He stated that silence on such speech could only be seen as an endorsement.
He noted that throughout history promotion of hate speeches succeeded in achieving their barbarous ends by silencing influential voices from the aggressor communities.
Osinbajo stated that when leaders in communities that spoke in such a manner to play dissension were made to be quite it constituted a great disservice to the unity of the nation.
The Acting President reaffirmed that the primary aim of the government was to secure the lives and property of citizens, adding that the administration would not relent in achieving that vision.
Osinbajo also observed that to tackle insecurity there was the need to fight poverty by all tiers of government.
He said that the Inspector General of Police has been directed to constitute a community policing programme to ensure inclusion of all communities in creative ways towards improving security in the country.
Osinbajo decried the past friction between the Federal and State government that has led to low fulfillment of obligations to people, adding that the administration continue to exhibit transparency in dealing with the states to enable good governance.
