Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Has Any One Gotten A Job Tru Joberman? by Kockane(m): 12:28pm On May 31, 2012
Jobberman is still a small-time recruitment agency, even the firms that use dem in recruitment are usually medium scale and upcoming enterprises. I once applied for a job I saw on their site for the position of a "Therapist", in a "reputable health firm", came all the way down from abuja to lagos for three separate interviews only to discover @ d last moment it was a marketing job.
And about d 90% chance of being called for an interview if ur cv is written by them, its a blatant lie! If you've got no substance, no appropriate qualifications, a mediocre grade, unreputable schools, etc... No amount of decoration can make up for all these.

Dr Fireman? Is this not the same pastor that circulated a handbill of himself in all white, with a walking stick, in the midst of beautiful scantily claded women and an inscription that: "All the fine girls in lagos are attending Dr. Fireman's church except you" ? I really wouldn't wanna say much but I think we shouldn't let sentiments becloud our judgements. Ur a christian doesn't mean you should be blind to the truth when you see it. This dude, to me is fake! Plain fake, an opportunist and a false teacher. One of those the bible predicted as a sign of the end times. Christians aren't supposed to be dumb, open ur eyes people!

kokaine,u've heard it al.take the job, then u av 2 option for ur mastaz:1.work 4 a while n take a study leave in d UK or USA,tht way u retain ur job.2.four mnth into ur job enrol for part time MBA in nigeria, also tht way u dnt loose ur job..
Mayb i shld ad numba three sef.3.dnt do d MBA at al..lol.
Bsides hw old r u nau?

Do banks really give study leave? I'd really love to know. I'm not even d sorta person dat sees myself doin the same thing for too long, I'd get bored easily. Masters or not, I don't see myself in gtbank for more dan 4 years, all tins remaining equal. As I'm just 23, goin for masters by 27-28 isn't such a bad idea, and in d event of a sack b4 den, no wahala, I still have my deferred admission to fall bak on. Probably even forgo it and opt for a better sch. And I hope the older ones would bear with my seeming youthful exubberance and emphasis on monetary returns, even now I see it shldnt be a driving factor. 80% of doz I graduated with a year ago are still in their parents homes, jobless, and a small percentage opted for masters in a bid not to be idle. One thing I noticed is, ow many pple actually go for masters immediately after school if not to stand a better chance of securing a job? Wich I secured almost effortlessly. I came out wiv a mediocre grade, a 2:2, not cuz I aint good enuf for a 2:1 or even a first class, but out of my own making, I wasn't d tiniest bit serious. I'm in a stage of my life where I want to make decisions that wldnt jeopardize the "second chance" God's giving me. Cuz I realize not many pple have the luxury/burden of making such difficult choices. And I also realize it goes both ways, eida decision I make, I still stand a risk of regrettin if tins don't work out eventually. Now, I'm lookin @ the lesser of both "evils", as I'm caught between the devil and d deep blue sea. Lolz. And den again, even my parents are more inclined towards me taking the gtb job first, I wldnt wanna venture into anyfn witout deir "full" blessings. I'll go with gtb for now, go for my masters after 2-3 years, and see what happens afterwards. Thanks a lot guys, asides helpin me make my decision to opt for gaining experience b4 a second degree, I believe dere are odaz in a similar dilemma, followin this thread, who, based on their own unique circumstances would opt to do otherwise. I really appreciate all the pieces of advise, God's blessings!!!

GoldCircle: @Kockane, I wish u Godspeed! Have a plan B from day 1 and make hay while the sun shines! U may have also read many stories on this forum of many ex-bankers coming here to seek advice just after loosing their jobs. So be wise!

Yea... Dats also a tot dat keeps ringin in my mind every now and den, but den again, no job has an absolute 100% security. And I'm definitely not venturing into such a volatile industry wiv my eyes closed, I see it as a chance to further develop myself, build my cv,gather some savings, not drive around in flashy cars, and shiny suits. Thanks for ur brotherly advice doe, really appreciate it.

renewnaija: @ Poster
Just my two cents with so many questions.

Why didnt you start this thread before paying half the fees?
If you take the GTB job, are you ready to forfeit the fees even for a year?
Remember it is the your father's sweat (gratuity), so will he take it lightly if you refuse the masters or will you pay him back with the GTB bank?
If yes, how long will it take you to payback? Or are you from a rich home so it wont be an issue?

Anyway, I advise you seek God's face & ask that His will be done in your life.

A few have come to do Masters abroad & wt they are earning now will blow away any amount GTB can offer you. A friend of mine (a recent Masters graduate)working in the US told me that no Nigerian company will be able to pay him wt he wants if he decides to move back to Nigeria & knowing his salary, I believe him.
Others dont have the same story.

You are unique so you should not follow other people's successes cos it may not work for you. Some make it in Nigeria, others abroad.

So seek Jesus now like never before.

I never saw gtb coming wen I applied and made part payment for my masters. I literarily wrote the exam to not seem rude to d person dat assisted me in submittin my cv. I'm not from some mega rich family but my dad really just wants d best for me, he cldnt possibly ask me bak 4d school fees, and he's given me the go ahead to make my own decisions. Of course, asides seekin advice on this forum, I've also discussed it with oda members of ma family, and even ma pastor (aldoe, I'm not really d religious type), I believe the voice of man is the voice of God.

Whao! Thanks a lot guys for the barrage of advices, I'm totally planless for wat to say. Aldoe its a decision I've alredy made, and dat is to defer ma admission and start off wiv gtb @ d moment, I still pretty much appreciate all the inputs. I graduated with a B.sc in Anatomy, 2:2, but I really don't see myself goin bak to d healthcare, I really fo have a flair for banking and intend to pursue a career in it.

I wrote my tests and had my interviews in abuja, in march dis year. I understand lagos and abuja recruit independently of each oda, so I really can't say on how to go about it from lag. D haruna musa email addy was legit as at february sha, lotsa peeps sent their cv's to it and got called for the test. I also know some pple just wrote anoda exam like a coupla weeks ago, in lag, and dey r srill awaiting d interview. As for abuja, I believe dey haven't written any tests since d march batch.

And about d pay, yea I've done my research, really coooool. Not even d devil can make me change my mind again. #teamGtbank. grin

Which company is not concerned about the ethical views of their (prospective) employees? Even if you assume it's expected, still mention your PERSONAL VALUES and link it with the coy's CORE VALUES. Every responsible coy wants to reduce operational risk/fraud and legal fees/time that would be wasted by the (in)actions of a 'corrupt' employee.
Well bro, you know it takes experience to know ow not to leave out the "little" tins in interview. For me, it was my very first interview, I kept goin on and on about hardwork, maturity, zeal, drive, etc... It was like, dey were particular on honesty and I kept leaving it out. It was so funny wen dey kept giving me clues like, "wat attributes are required wen one is to be in charge of money?" And I kept mentioning tins like sound accounting skills, flair for the job, etc... They kept saying "No, no, think well." I eventually gave up and told em to help me out. Lolz.

I had two interviews, one was a panel interview, d oda was one-on-one with an assistant general manager. I guess its all about self-confidence, don't let dem intimidate you, especially d panelists. They are young pple like you, and dey'll try to unbalance you with uncomplimentary comments about ur dressing, etc... Questions like tell us about urself, wat attributes do you fink you have dat'll qualify you for dis job? ABEG don't forget to mention honesty. I didn't and d chick in deir midst immediately started disliking me. Hehe. But overall, do some research on banking and d bank itself in particular, deir orange rules, etc. Its not as tough as it sounds doe, just be confident and dress well and BE YOURSELF. The one-on-one is more of a meeting, during my tym, d guy did 70% of the talkin, and d interview took over an hour. All d very best! Endeavour to fill us in on ow it goes. wink

And who says a 2.1 would have secured for you a bright future? These days, class of degrees is even irrelevant wen job hunting cuz most serious employers would still have you write aptitude tests, which is a beta guage of one's intellectual abilities than a "kpali" they don't know ow you managed to sttain wateva grades you have on it. I came out with a 2.2, a pretty mediocre one @ dat, but dat was largely due to my unseriousness in school. Fast forward 2 years, and I can boldly say I'm doing better than 90% of those that had a higher grade than I did. Its all a mata of knowin urself and maximizing ur potentials bro... Cheers!

moderattor: @OP u wasted your authority, phone credit, son's time and time spent on signing that cleaning contract.
You didnt solve the problem.
You would have gingered and swargered in front of the girl.
Called her employer, gingered even more and put them on a contract revocation threat for 48hrs.
She would be your best cleaner after that. And that patient would carry your reputation every where.
But you chose to be wicked.
You didnt feel a thing?
Of course, wicked people dont. Just like she.

sholasys: Na wa ooo!!!, This is unprofessional at all. How did you engaged the business with the cleaner company? Was there any service level agreement (SLA)or contractual documents ? Contracts are usually base on timeline and terminating it abruptly must be stipulated and reason for doing so. Do you run an organised HR ? or One man business-like. How long has the cleaner company be working with you clinic ? do they have any service quality issue before. Will you pay them compensation ?. power tend to corrupt, and Absolute power corrupt absolutely. Madam may God for give you. If i am the MD of the company will institute case against you. HABA!!! How many pple have you render jobless bc of one sily girl. Pls reinstate them back else ........

Else what I don't think you've had first hand experience of how these lowly cleaners treat people just because they are are ill. Like lepers. I strongly support the OP on this one, it would act as a deterent to odaz. Not everybody gets a second chance, even in d bible, dere are people who messed up and got immediate judgement. Its his business (at least he is a major stakeholder) he reserves the ryt to make decisions as he deems fit and not allow sentiments becloud his judgement. Do you consider ow many potential clients dey've lost due to this nauseating attitude of d cleanin staff? @OP, kudos, I imagine how much better Nigeria would be if we had principled and disciplined folks like you in power.

Like I sed, I'm speaking based on what obtains in abuja, and trust me, I know wat I'm saying. Wen I say 0.6%, you will be amazed at how many people actually turn out to write these tests and maybe den you'll see dat its not such a small percentage afterall. Apologies if I offended you by my opening remarks. I meant no disrespect. I'm doing my medicals dis cumin week, so I'm guessing we'r concurrently going to be in the respective training schools (abuja and lagos). I wouldn't mind if we cld connect with the aim of networking, sharing information, etc...
chippyripp:

Dude wots false information that ii scored 80%.The test ii wrote in lagos a week ago was at their training school it was computer based and not a written test.the cut off mark Ȋ̊§ 60% and u see your score immediately u finish the test.u get a break down of how many u attempted, wot you scored and the percentage. Dude its ur own information dat sounds incorrect so if 100 people write the test they only pick six people Ȋ̊§ dat not waste of resources and time how about if more dan o.6% score the highest which Ȋ̊§ let's say 80 will they now pick random 0.6% when definetly some peeps will get screened during the intervie process. If during anoda bath of 100 the highest score Ȋ̊§ 70% will they now accept 0.6% of these people at the expense of the people that scored 80% in the previous batch.Think.....

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Gtbank Test by Kockane(m): 9:13am On May 12, 2012
Please, let's desist from spreading false information if we're not sure of wat we're saying. Speakin from experience, GTBank picks only d top 0.6% participants for any written test, nufn like cut off. For the person dat claimed to score 80% in the test, was it GTB HR dat sent you such result or you have an insider dat helped you chek cuz GTB usually only sends either a congratulatory message or a message stating dat you didn't meet their criteria, nufn like, "you scored 80%".
After the test, you get invited for a documentation stage where you fill in ur details and on the last page, ur asked to write on ANY current happening within or outside the country. Almost immediately wld the first panel interview hold, then a one-on-one with a top official. Den you proceed for medicals after wich ur training starts.
For tips on how to pass the test, you need to be speedy, accurate and calm. Dey are simple questions 80% of applicants wld pass in otherwise calm situations. But most pple fail cuz dey allow exam tension get the better of dem. Study ur GMAT, SHL and a lil bit of current affairs and ur good.
On the issue of declaration of age, I suggest you try to process a birth certificate from national population commision ASAP. This is naija, grease a coupla palms and you could have urs in a coupla hours! GTB doesn't accept affidavits, an authentic birth certificate, means of identification like voters card, drivers licence, international passport, etc... And one oda tin: AGE. Maximum age is 26 years 10 months, anyfn above that, ur out.
All the very best to all the applicants in the house. One love.

@tanimola22, I really appreciate ur submission on this, quite insightful. Thanks for taking time out to break it down for me. I guess I'll go with gtb for now. On a similar thread, I learnt they pay about 198k for entry level, wich by my standard isn't bad. Enuf to enable me gather sumfn substantial with all deir allowances and stuff and within a few years, enroll into a more reputable university for my masters just as you suggested.

@Yamakuza, yeah I've done half-payment alredy, and no, its non-refundable. Anyways, its not d moni dat matters, I just don't wanna make a grave mistake. The GTB job, I got by God's grace. Just finished my nysc dis february, and I didnt even apply for the position, it was a cousin of myn dat helped submit my cv and dey called me for the test, I went reluctantly, wrote, and discovered I passed. Outta about 6500 pple, dey pikd 39. I know its like a once in a lifetime opportunity and if I'm gonna throw it away, its gotta be for a worthy cause. I guess I'll just have to defer d MBA admission and probably forget about it eventually.

Hello house, please I'd like to know, how much GTB pays their graduate trainees, entry level. And how does their training school operate? Do they pay during training? How much? What other perks? Do they provide accommodation during the training like sum other banks?

I'm currently billed to go for my medicals here in Abuja, being at the final stage of the recruitment process before I resume in their training school. I want to know if it will be worthwhile because I'm also due to travel out of the country for my masters very soon. I also need advise on what to do please. Do I go for my masters, or do I defer d admission and start with GTB?

I really don't wanna make a decision I'll come to regret later on. Thanks in anticipation of your kind responses. Bless.
