I don't think any coach will overlook him now based on his europa performance but guessed what we have Victor Osimehn,Paul Onuachu,Sadiq,Moffi,Awoniyi and if any of these guys apart from Osimehn were not picked,nothing fuss,so Dessers not getting invitation as at then and possible even now,not a big deal.

I think only Osimehn not getting invitation can cause uproar....others can be picked based on coach preference.

But I would love to see him now,really good for eagles with arrays of CF we have,now left for coach to do the needful.

According to those who watched Usiyan and little I heard about him from my Dad.I went into archive and watched his match against Kenya.He scored a goal that convinced me that Usiyan in 80s would have laid a record that Yekini would worked hard to surpass.

He was member of boycotted Montreal 1976 Nigeria football squad with Segun Odegbami and co.He later played in 1978 all Africa games where eagles came second with the likes Emma Okala,Christian Chuckwu,Best Ogedegbe,Segun Odegbami.

He left Nigeria to United States for academic purpose in 1977 but his appearances with eagles ended in 1981 after WC qualifying match against Algeria.He retired from the team at the age of 24.

Thompson Usiyan was born in Effurun and dead in united states last year at age of 65.As highly talented Usiyan was,most of his mates were surprised that he left the game so early and preferred his education with school football.

I rate Yak highly cos I followed him right from Okomu oil fc to Julius Berger and had closed contact with him during Nigeria dream team preparation camp for Sydney 2000 in Ilorin.He was in camp with my pals Sunday Johnson,Oluwole Johnson and Idemudia Usigbe and opportuned to watch their trainings in University of Ilorin old mini campus and Ilorin stadium.

Oh that missed against South Korea really dented his rating.Damn too poor from a prolific scorer like Yak and one of the worst in FIFA WC.

Honestly,Yak is good cos i remember the day he scored five goals in a match in Nigeria league.This is my five best Nigeria CF.
