Oasis007: The Lineup, if true, is fantastic. It's really a good Call by Rohr and his Crew. We do not need to play as Underdog, rather let's show the World what this Team is capable of.
Eagles were known for entertaining, dazzling Football internationally, and I am so much believing this Team gonna be exciting to watch on the Pitch.
Rohr's Contract should be extended till 2023, coz it's damn apparent he's building a formidable Team for the Country in the Future. I'm kinda believing Rohr is simply building a very solid and superb Team for the Future - catch them young Tactic.
Whatever happens tonight matters not, also whatever happens at the Mundial shouldn't be taken to the Heart. We should all believe in the Rohr's Project for the Eagles, coz with him in charge till 2023...... we may possibly win it in Qatar! Chairman i get your point but you know naija wella, anything short of good performance at WC forget it o. Na only here we dey reason o,go to other thread on Eagles,Chei shame go catch you,see analysis upon analysis. I think better for Rohr to have good performance at WC then contract extension to 2023 would not be an issue. |

Danielnino00: Yea... but what it if Rohr has plans to try Aina at RB too? Let's wait and see and if Echiejele failed to displace Idowu then we don't need him as bench warmer at WC when we have young Ebuhei and Aina on ground. |

MetalJigsaw: Hello guys, there's something I want to ascertain about V. Moses. Which foot is his stronger one is it right, left or both feet since the guy seems to fit in playing comfortably on both flanks for SE.
Thanks. Yes you are right very comfortable with both feet and he remind me of Victor Ikpeba who was damn comfortable with both feet. |

Danielnino00: Ekong as captain isn't a bad idea IMO, Balogun isn't the legitimate deputy to Mikel and Onazi, and just like some folks already said, the captain armband might b a burden to him....
Correct me if I'm wrong but the captain rank in the team currently is - 1- Mikel 2- Onazi 3- Musa 4- Echijele Mikel is the captain and Onazi is the vice captain, nothing like Musa-3 or Echiejele-4,so Ekong and any of the players can get the captain band in the absence of Mikel and Onazi. |

Icon79: It's funny you'd say that because on last few occasions Joel Obi had played for the Super Eagles, he played in a double pivot with Mikel. And based on my personal assessment and in the assessment of those who know better than I do (and I am talking about the legends of the game, such as Mathematical Segun Odegbami), Joel outshined Mikel each time. This isn't to say that Mikel didn't play well in those games, but it tells you how good Joel Chukwuma Obi can be when he's at his best.
But is he gonna outshine Mikel on current form, I doubt it. Why ... because injuries have affected his speed and impacted his game in other ways, but he's still a quality player.
O pari Sir i can't really remember when Mikel and Joel played together in Eagles and what do you mean by OUTSHINE. |

Icon79: Not surprised because, against Algeria, the armband was a little too heavy for Balogun. This has nothing to do with Leon .... some players, such as Harry Kane, just get weighed down by that responsibility.
O pari Sir possibly Rohr want to build up Ekong confidence against Lewandowski, remember the guy is not new to Balogun. I think i love that decision. |

forgiveness: John Fashanu never rejected to play for Nigeria rather the coach rejected him. He was even on the bench in one of our friendly and it was after the match he decided to play for England because the coach didn’t like him
“I actually wanted to play for Nigeria and I came home thrice but the coach felt I was not good enough for his team. He only selected me for a friendly match against China but I was an unused substitute,” Fashanu said.
Dele Alli had his primary education in Nigeria. Sir,pls can you tell me a coach that rejected John Fashanu The same Fashanu was called by Manfred Hoener prior to Maroc 88 and opted for England. Sir did Nigeria ever played China in the 80s cos i cannot remember such match, hope you can remember Oh Dele Ali had his primary education in Nigeria does not make him a Nigerian. SEAL was born in Nigeria and even had his education in Nigeria and he was more a British than those born in UK or what of Sade Adu that was born in ancient city of Ibadan. John Mastroudes was a Greek man but at home in Nigeria and speak Yoruba language fluently and always see himself as a Nigerian than his country Greece. |

Mujtahida: I admire his faith and resolve. But no player has turned down Nigeria and gone ahead to really cut it in international football.I call it the Nigerian curse. I am not wishing him bad ooo. Not at all. But those are the facts. Moreover the German production line is heavy with talents waiting and more popping up.
Before somebody mentions Olisadebe just remember Olisadebe did not turn down Nigeria. He nationalised and played for Poland. Alaba too never rejected Nigeria. In fact he waited and waited and no call came. The naija curse is real. Oga Kog45 please give us a run down of those who have rejected this beloved Gwg. I think we need to go back to memory lane to talk about FB who willingly made themselves available, those that rejected us and those we rejected. In 1980 we have a FB named Tunji Banjo who came all the way from England and made 1980 Afcon winning team.He was the first FB to play for Nigeria and had a memorable tournament with the likes of Christian Chuckwu,Segun Odegbami and Adokiye Aimesemeika. John Chiedozie made himself available and had few caps for Nigeria in 80s I remember we later had Reuben Agboola who made Senegal 92 team and had a good tourney. John Shittu had a wonderful experience with Nigeria with Afcon and WC experience. Abbey George also had afcon appearance for Nigeria Efe Sodje had World Cup appearance with Nigeria Sammy Sodje too had few caps. Hope Akpan had few caps. Sone Aluko too had few caps even represented Nigeria at U20 WC. Good recently we have the likes of Vic Moses, Leon Balogun,Alex Iwobi,Ola Aina,Ebuhei, Brian Idowu and Ekong Troost doing well with eagles presently. Justin Fashanu was a very solid striker who never identify with Nigeria like John Fashanu. He was the first black player to signed a £1m contract in the world though never get a call cos he was not even willing.I remember he came down to Nigeria with John for the first time in 80s through MKO Abiola and Sebastian Williams Father to Kojo Williams. Remi Moses was an ex Manchester United great midfielder who played between 1981 - 1989 as a regular but still surprised nobody knew he was a Nigerian and no approached from NFF. John Fashanu rejected us and had two caps for England in friendlies. He tried to get his way back after our qualification for US 94 through Chief Akinwunmi the father of present NFF vice President but outcry from fans and press stopped him. Gabriel Agbonlahor rejected us but later came out and said he was never approached to play for Nigeria and he had two appearances for England. Nnedum Onuoah was a solid player that was given a wild card to represent Nigeria at 2014 WC but turned Nigeria down, waiting endlessly for England invitation.Later regretted his action and his mother didn't help his situation cos she insisted that her son want England. Ugho Ehiogu was never approached so i cannot really blamed him but he should have been a great Eagles defender if we approached him. Carlton Cole was willing but the rules at that time ruled him out.The rule stated that a player that played official youth match is not allowed to play for another national team and Cole was ex England youth player. He came down to Nigeria with Okocha and Kanu believing they can turned things around but the FIFA laws was cleared. Cole went back to England dejected and following week he got England call and made his debut in official match but funny enough the following week after his debut FIFA changed the law that youth players can changed nationalities,no way for him again though he had few caps for England. David Alaba was ever ready but his agent didn't help his situation. He went through third party who know nothing about NFF and was told U 17 is for homegrown.A very strong member of Austria team, honestly a great loss. Dele Ali to me never a Nigerian though his real root is Nigeria cos he never see himself as one, nothing to say on a player who don't really reckon with his parents. Manuel Akanji truly identified with Nigeria through his Father Murphy Akanji,a good CB who but funny enough he was never approached by NFF before he made his official debut for Switzerland, another loss. Kenneth Otigba waited patiently but never get a call until recently when he was named in Hungary team, painful,Otigba refused to honour Hungary euro invitation cos of Eagles. Oh Emma Olisadebe really wanted Nigeria but NFF didn't see him as someone that can compete with the likes of Kanu,Aghaowa,Yakubu and Agali until he naturalised and turned out for Poland. Truly those who rejected Nigeria never had a good national team career. Modified... Efan Ekoku was another FB who willingly turned out for Nigeria and he was member of prestigious 94 afcon winning team and also US 94 squad. Dickson Etuhu had great time with eagles especially at Afcon and WC,he turned out for Nigeria with no hassle. |

Icon79: Wow. Some of the things you read on this forum! Pls can you show me the posts where a lot of people were against Joel Obi's call up? On the contrary what me and many other knowledgeable members of this forum kept saying is that Joel Obi is our best midfielder but have been hindered by injuries. You guys should quit fabrications here because that's very annoying!
O pari Thank you for this comment. Do we need to argue Joel Obi invitation? NO or do we need to castigate the school of thoughts that always have reservation about his injury issue? NO Pls let us ask ourselves simple question What has been Joel Obi hindrance in National team for past six years? (A) QUALITY. (B) INDISCIPLINE. (C) INJURY I think answer to this should end the arguments. |

DrKlever: . I get your point sir! Who Rohr rates is not exactly my issue, it's crystal clear Joel Obi is more creative and a better passer of the ball with better football IQ than both Onazi and Ogu. so why pin him to the bench because he's new. is this his first appearance in gwg? if not injury, who is Ogu where Joel is? And will he blend effectively with the team if he doesn't get to play in these friendlies. Remember this is a possible replacement for Mikel. God forbid, Mikel picks an injury, is it then you would start interegrating him into the team? I get your point Dr and i don't doubt Joel quality, hope Mikel's absence will give him the opportunity to make statement and wish Rohr give him a starting shirt but Rohr i know will introduce him in the 2nd half |

This is simple Joel Obi is coming newly into the team and as it now we have Mikel,Ndidi,Onazi,Ogu,Etebo even Agu ahead, his performance in GWG would do the talking not Torino performance. He has work to do to displace the aforementioned midfielders who are not new to Rohr and to be candid Ogu and Etebo need to sit tight cos Joel has all it require to displace them. |
