Humility017: that does not go to tell...if the league is of quality......
money alone does not make a quality league...talents and potentials do....and that I beleive the Chinese league lacks Firstly am one of the people that said no to Martins inclusions in the team when Michael2 first raised it but my argument was based on the unity of the team not on Martins pedigree as a player. Chinese league is for foreigners who have seen it all in well established league and they paid them just like expatriates coming to develop their league and that's why big money is involved, tell me how many European clubs would pay Ighalo such kind of wages. Truly Martins play in Chinese league but his quality is not in doubt just like John Obi Mikel.Hope you have asked yourself how come Mikel damn good for Eagles now despite playing in Chinese league . |

Mujtahida: Watch that Uzoho. He has that thing. For now I prefer him to Ezenwa. Shaky Shaky gk affects our backline especially Balogun. Let's see them in the friendlies though. 45 minutes each for both Uzoho and Ezenwa. @all please guys watch this video on Facebook link to see what Uzoho might be getting compared to Ezenwa https://www.facebook.com/OhMyGoal.KeliNetwork/videos/1605236132870227/ Cc Icon4s Kog45 Goldfish80 My man coz of Uzoho i always watched Nigeria vs Argentina match repeatedly especially 2nd half, with what i saw he has it all to be number one but my major concern and every loving super eagles fans must be concern is him relegated to team B back after two LA liga games. When you see good keeper very easy to know, the guy is damn good.I don't know whom to pick between him and Ajiboye but with his height i w go for Uzoho. The fact that some guys don't want to agree is keeping in team B is not good for his development as our number one keeper to WC. |

mazimee: You guys have a funny thought process. Last too season, an unknown Leicester City came all the way from a lower League and broke the big teams in the EPL like they are nothing and won the Premier League.
If that is isn't a good lesson to you and the people from the same school of thought like yours that some Leagues maybe bigger than others, but quality players and a better team work is all you need to win, then I am afraid you a bad with analysis. Pls read my post very well before you comment. Pls what is bad in my analysis cos sometimes i keep on wondering why some don't read and get it simple or do you think i just came into football talks yesterday. My point is so simple that guys who know football very well w comprehend very fast and understand my angle of discussion and mind you is not compulsory we should agreed. If i may ask did you really know what we are talking about cos your submission lacks it.Pls better for you to go back how it all started or ask icons79 what was our discussion about. My point is simple better to have national team players in good league (YES or NO) or did you see me condemning guys playing in lower leagues,i said we can find them but on rare occasion just like having Shehu Abdullahi now playing in Cyprus but Shehu turning good doesn't mean we should now focus our attention on lower leagues when we have guys doing it in better league. Oh Leicester coming to EPL and won league, pls can you tell me how many modelrate clubs that did what Leicester did in the last 20 years and what has it got to do with our discussion. Did you know how many years he took us to qualify for WC despite having great talents. This was a period Cameroon, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt are serious threat just cos they have players doing it in Europe while ours are majorly in local league except Richard Owubokiri, Sylvanus Okpala who are based in Brazil and Portugal until Keshi joined in mid 80s. Hope my point is clearer now better to have them in better league like LA liga, EPL,Bundesliga, serial A,French league, Belgium league,Dutch league,Portuguese league than playing in any second tier in Europe or obscure league in Hungary, Bulgaria, Norway, Sweden, Cyprus, mind you we can see good players from this league but must be extremely good and hardworking like Shehu to break into Super eagles team. |

Icon79: Obviously, you're of Sunday Oliseh's school of thoughts: playing in the main league automatically makes you better than those who are playing in the lower division, but I am not buying that. I believe that our best players should be playing for us regardless of where they are fond.
From Reuben Agbola down to Shehu Abbdullahi, we have found some hidden gems in the Super Eagles, who were not luck enough to be playing in the so called top teams or top divisions. Anyway, my bottom line is our best players should be playing for us regardless of where they are found ... even if they are home-based or playing for other African clubsides.
O pari O pari master do we need to argue this i don't think so,am not disputing seeing rare gem in lower league but a good national team is made up of players playing in quality leagues. I remember Rueben Agboola very well playing for Swansea in lower league then, hope you remember Emeka Ezeugu who made national team playing in India league,George Abbey playing in league two,Rasheed Yekini making the team playing for African sport, also Thompson Oliha playing in cote d voire for Asec,Gabriel Okolosi with African sport,Efetebore and Sam Sodje doing it in championship. We have them like that but better to have your players in good league, this is why i always praised Westerhoff for showing Nigeria players way out to better league. He made sure Yekini moved to Europe cos he can't imagine Yekini playing in African league. He assisted players like Tijani to Roda JC,Finidi and Kanu to Ajax,Amokachie to club brugge,Okechukwu to Brondby in Denmark,Ben Iroha to Vitesse Arnhem,Friday Elaho to Brondby and find club for Emeka Ezeugu in Denmark from India. He did this to boost the quality of his team cos good leagues will boost the national team output.Do you think beating Argentina can be done with bunch of players from lower league. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Kog45(m): 7:45pm On Dec 04, 2017 |
Icon79: Yup. Playing in the main team is definitely better than playing in the B team. However, if I have to chose between someone who's playing day in day out in the B team versus someone who's clubless (Enyeama) or someone who hasn't played any competitive match in ages (Alampasu), the choice would be clear. That's the point I was trying to make.
And my second point is, we need to stop writing folks off based solely on what division they play. We have some championship players who are better than the players playing in the EPL. There may be many reasons (including bad agents, luck etc) why someone may be playing in the lower division despite his skillsets. Hence, I don't care what league or division you play in, as long as you demonstrate quality with the Super Eagles that person should be in contention.
When it comes to the national team, my biggest consideration is someone ought to be active in his football club. There's something called "match sharpness" .... you only acquire match sharpness through playing matches.
O pari My man where player plays determine a lot though we might have some players showing class in lower league but generally it's better for national team to have their players in good leagues like LA liga,EPL,Bundesliga.Pls how many Shehu do we have out there making national team, honestly national team made Shehu not his club. |

Icon79: Alampasu shouldn't even be in the discussion these days, because Rohr had given him chances upon chances but still hasn't proven that he's equal to the task. If Rohr didn't use him in the qualifiers, how in the world would he use him during the world cup proper? I think it's time to forget about Alampasu and give other goalkeepers a chance to stake their claims.
O pari What do you mean by Rohr had given him chances upon chances cos have never see him in goal,if that's the case, pls what is Uche Agbo doing in the team. Uzoho should thank his star for getting his invitation during friendly or do you think Rohr would use Uzoho during WC qualifying. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Kog45(m): 7:00pm On Dec 04, 2017 |
Icon79: Icon, did someone stole your handle or something
So you'd rather take a clubless Enyeama to the World Cup than Uzoho is playing day in day out? Why? Because Uzoho is young or because he plays in the lower division? Do you guys think that playing in the lower division means that he isn't good? The Uzoho I saw against the Argies, granted that it was only for 45 mins, strikes me as a decent goalkeeper. He's definitely better than Ezenwa and a lot better than Akpeyi.
And by the way, before you start calling for a clubless player to be our #1 goalkeeper at the world cup, remember what happened to us in France '98 World Cup. It was this sort of an outcry that made the coach to recall a clubless Peter Rufia .... because we felt that all the keepers in the camp were too young and too inexperienced.
O pari Good point, not good to consider a clubless keeper over active keeper but the question is how did Uzoho got Eagles invitation?he got the invitation based on his two la liga games not as team B player. Uzoho is good no doubt watching Argentina match he showed a lot of promises which is good for the team but mind you his development can only be harness in his club main team not team B.I bet it with you if not for his two games in LA liga Rohr would not have called him,so he need to work his way back to the main team to boost his confidence and development. Hope you see rapid development in Awaziem games after leaving Porto team B to Nantes main team. There is wide difference between main team and team B and not good for super eagles to have keepers keeping in team B,we still have six months to WC,so anything can happen considering our goalkeepers. Uzoho i saw against Argentina deserves to be in the main team, also Alampasu need to keep on pushing harder,Ajiboye too should slug it out with Ezenwa during CHAN cos Akpeyi and Ezenwa no go area for me |

tbaba1234: If Enyeama refuses to return, we have to make do.
I think Uzoho can do a job. Afterall, Ondoa was in Barca B when he became Cameroon's number 1.
Perhaps, Ajiboye can also do the job. Initially am always thinking of Enyeama but for now i don't take him into consideration cos he has retired from Eagles until he said am available again but for now i will have Uzoho and Ajiboye in my team but Uzoho need to fight for his place in the main team and Ajiboye need to displace Ezenwa in CHAN to showcase what he can do and also his performance in CAF champions league will boosts his chances. |

tbaba1234: It is a comparison not a thing of joy. Alampasu has not been playing games, he can not be better than those keeping competitively every week. Alampasu is not even second choice. Most times, he does not even make the bench.
Rating Maduka ahead is simply because he is playing not because he is new.
Realistically, none of them should be first choice at the WC. My major focus is CHAN hope Alloy would give Dele Ajiboye a chance which is slim cos Ezenwa is the captain. Dele Ajiboye is better than Akpeyi and Ezenwa coz watching the guy against Guinea tells me a lot,so confident, read his line very well and played the ball on the ground with his defenders just like Uzoho did against Argentina, these are the attributes of a good keeper. |

If Ezenwa was up to it, we would not be discussing any of those three, would we?
All these IFs no mean anything. The fact on ground is that we are having a crisis in the goalie area and anyone playing regularly should be ranked highly.
We just need a goalie that plays well and right now Uzoho is ahead of Alamps because:
1) He plays regularly
2) He had a comparatively better debut
Uzoho and Alampasu are dragging one spot as far as I am concerned...Maduka is not even in the mix Thank you for the last paragraph |

Icon4s: elyte89 has a point. Just that he may just have blown it out if proportion. Even Rohr has mentioned severally that Victor Moses is his greatest attacking threat. We definitely need him in the team. Onazi's work rate, athletism and versatility are a major boost for our midfield. Ogu is not as athletic as Onazi like wise in terms of work rate. And of course Mikel, He is the Igwe of the team. Yes no player is indispensable but some players if fit will definitely be vital to our campaign.
Onazi-Mikel-Moses: Are also senior members of the team, with also good 2014 WC experience in their bags. Baring any injures they have both legs in Russia already. elyte89 was absolutely right,do they think Rohr will be happy without Moses in his team, beating Argentina is not the ultimate,we should remember it was a friendly match and not WC match. Good that we did it in the absence of some of our regulars cos it gives us options but come against Croatia and the rest we want our best like Moses,Onazi,Mikel,Balogun,Ndidi,Ekong, Iwobi,Nacho,Ighalo available. |

tbaba1234: No, Uzoho is playing regularly in a competition. Alampasu is not..
Okoye is playing. Alampasu is not. My man it's a pity that we have to go for keepers keeping in division 3 and regional league in Europe for super eagles,no thank to Ikeme health and lack of class in Akpeyi and Ezenwa,if not we will not be discussing who is better among the trio who are keeping in team B in their various clubs. Oh my God,Uzoho playing regularly in division 3 is now a thing of joy abi and Maduka keeping with Fortuna Dusseldorf team B is now a pride for our national team, also Alampasu a bench warmer, honestly Akpeyi and Ezenwa really fall my hand. Let me ask you this,if Uzoho find himself in Deportivo main team back as second keeper and always on the bench would you pick Maduka ahead of him due to his playing time in regional league with Fortuna Dusseldorf team B cos you are rating the same Maduka ahead of Alampasu now, this is a guy nobody mentioned here but now a beautiful bride just like the way some guys were defending Nwakili invitation whereas we have better performing midfielder in the same Norwegian league. |

ChrisKels: I mean u no disrespect bro but I shouldn't be arguing with u. Onazi is indispensable and we trashed Argentina in his absence? VicMo is indispensable and we av been playing and winning in his absence . U kinda naive, sorry to say Dat. Whoever his absence ain't felt when he is off the pitch isn't indispensable. The person his absense shakes the team is Mikel and no one else. Be reasonable. I don't think beating Argentina should be a yardstick to belittle some players super relevant in the team and i know Rohr has a coach will not joke with Mikel,Vic Moses,Ndidi,Onazi,Balogun,Ekong,of recent Iwobi in his line up. I remember Nigeria beat Brazil at Atlanta in the absence of Sunday Olishe but in the final against Argentina he walked straight into the first eleven meaning is indispensable.Hope you remember how Stephen Keshi was shuttling Belgium and Morocco during Maroc 88,despite winning the semi final in the absence of Keshi,Stephen Keshi came in straight from Belgium to play the final as a starter. Nigeria beating Argentina does not make Vic Moses and Ogenyi Onazi dispensable, only injury will ruled these guys out. |

ChrisKels: Person wey never see a second of game time even in the Portuguese lowest(regional) division let alone first division is ahead of a player with 180minutes of game time in the laliga, a cleansheet in two matches in the laliga and about seven clean sheets in segunda B.
Lol Maduka Okoye is even ahead of Alampasu presently because he plays unlike Alampasu.
When Alampasu was playing in the Portuguese third division, did u know he never kept a clean sheet abi na once sef, got his team relegated and was warming the bench at the tail end of that season bkus of his awful form.
We all read the report from feirense when they couldn't land their target keeper, they had to retain Alampasu because, half bread they say... Unless he Dele proves himself (which I pray he does) before January, he will be offloaded come January. Feirense has only just two keepers ; their unworthy number one and the emergency/interim back up Alampasu. But funny enough, Alampasu seldom makes the bench oo. Yes for having two games in LA liga Uzoho is ahead of Alampasu but Maduka Okoye ahead of Alampasu? No o. |

TheGoodJoe: We need top friendlies if we are to identify our best players and polish our tactical play. Keep in mind, it was lack of exposure that made us fail in our game against Italy in USA '94. I will not deceive you i don't believe in top friendlies before making impact at the WC. I don't think exposure affect US 94 team but just a silly mistake from Olishe changed the game. The France 98 team that have the exposure, what happened against Denmark. Senegal team almost made it to Semi final at 2002 WC despite lack of exposure, beating defending champion France. By now Rohr should have at least 18 players close to his chest or else we are going to the WC to make the number again, this what made me question his decision to call Maduka Okoye a keeper keeping for team B of fortuna Dusseldorf when we already have Uzoho and Alampasu. thegoodjoe how i wish Argentina friendly victory happened at the WC. |

Uruguay or Colombia (prepare us for Argentina)
Denmark or Sweden (prepare us for Iceland)
Serbia or Spain (prepare us for Croatia) Do we really need these top friendly matches before performing at WC.I remember US 94 team did not really played any top friendly and they surprised all,our France 98 was exposed by Holland 5-1 before WC,what happened against Denmark 4-1 even in our group stage we lost 3-1 to Paraguay. Let this team play smaller team even club sides to enhance their cohesion and tactics and arrive WC fresh to unleash their weapons. Good time for Rohr to sit down and start in earnest, enough of average switchers, what we need now is just back up striker for Ighalo and Iheanacho,GK he should just close his eyes and pick the three from Uzoho,Ezenwa,Akpeyi,Ajiboye and Alampasu. The rest are good to go,nothing to add in the Defence and midfield except we see exceptional player. |

Icon79: Bros, are you kidding me??
Dennis Bergkamp was great player. I wasn't gonna argue that but, at the time we're talking about, he was on his last legs - when Kanu came to Arsenal. And based on productivity alone, he shouldn't be starting ahead of an inform and red-hot Kanu Nwankwo. Yes, in Arsenal, Wiltord played as a support striker to Thierry Henry. So he was a direct competitor to Kanu.
Victor Obinna started pretty hot at West Ham. He might not have scored many goals but he was definitely one of their best players for the first couple of months after he joined. I am not here claiming that Obinna was world class but he did have a few good weeks and was definitely good enough to start for that West Ham team.
O pari O pari master you mean Wenger that gave Kanu lifeline after heart surgery was sentimental by preferring Bergkamp and Witord ahead of him. Kanu had his best football career at arsenal,at least good playing time compared to his previous clubs and post arsenal era. |
