goldfish80:Yes you are right on Uzoho, personally i didn't believe in language barrier stuff,he just need to work his way back to first team cos eagles number 1 is not for division three player.I watched the Nigeria - Argentina again yesterday,Uzoho has everything to be number 1 but need to play in first team to be more convincing and to gather more confidence and experience. |
TheGoodJoe:Thanks thegoodjoe and happy birthday,am not disputing match fixing syndrome but you must have your fact before you make an allegation. Why should we say Nigeria vs Argentina was fixed just cos Siasia handled the match, the evolution of this discussion started when Napoleon said Siasia was not the first Nigeria coach to beat Argentina, later it led to he beat team B and Rohr beat Argentina main team but goldfish80 need to come out that the match was fixed, very grievous allegation without fact. So cos Siasia beat Argentina or has the record of being the first to beat Argentina we should rubbish his achievement just cos he is a local coach or what, that's my arguments. |
Happy birthday thegoodjoe baba |
goldfish80:Thanks for the correction,I can only recalled Ejide shaking start in most of our pre WC matches towards 2002 WC,just get the cleared pictures of 2014 match you are talking about but my man am still on my point nothing like match fixing. An Interpol was investigating a match before the match was played and Ejide still has the confidence to throw ball into his own net,my man all this are just assumption not fact and mind you Nigeria players are the least offenders when it comes to match fixing. It was not even rampart in Nigeria. On Argentina match i don't know what you are trying to say regards the match, are you saying we cannot beat Argentina 4-1 or Siasia lacks the tactics to beat Argentina that presumed the match was fixed. Firstly you made two contradicting statements in our discussion, you said FIFA wanted to ban Nigeria and i asked for what, later you said the referee was involved cos he gave a questionable penalty to Argentina. Pls something is not cleared about your allegations cos it was very grievous allegation which is not good for Nigeria football, who are the people involved,it seems Argentina were not involved from your comments, but it seems you are suspicious of Nigeria players even with the way you are beating your chest on it,you are well convinced it was match fixing. Now the question is did Nigeria player intentionally handled the ball that gave Argentina penalty or did refree intentionally blew unjust penalty,it look so contradicting that Nigeria and the refree cannot be guilty at the same time cos Nigeria player did not handled the ball,so why FIFA ban. Another question was all the goals aided by the referee cos i don't understand your point or the Argentines allowed us to score freely, honestly am more confused with your allegations. Mind you three parties must be involved when it comes to match fixing in that match, the refree(s),Nigeria player(s) and Argentina player(s),but the Argentina that should be major suspect was not even mentioned in your allegation but you keep on hammering Nigeria a team that scored four cleared good goals and also conceded an unjust penalty. So how come Nigeria was involved in your match fixing allegations, pls you need to explain in details. Pls no need of going into another match, let's talk on Nigeria vs Argentina match. |
goldfish80:My man with due respect you are free to say anything and am not forcing you to edit anything just an advice for our image but since you believe you know much about the fixing of the match you can go on it's a free world. What you are saying is not new to me on the match but the allegations then was seen baseless, malicious, unfounded, uncalled for, myopic and stupid and there was no time FIFA try to investigate the match. The defeat was so painful that Argentina organised another friendly in Bangladesh which we lost 3-1. Why are you trying to back your fact with UK telegraph just like metro, these are junk media outfits. Look am not argue that there are no syndicates trying to upturned matches,so no need to educate me on it.I cite an example of John Fashanu and Bruce Grobellar case which they later acquitted, also the recent one involved Dickson Etuhu which was found to be untrue. What is my business with Bahrain Togo match, there are lot of cases of match fixing but my concern is Nigeria vs Argentina match which you believe it was fixed. If you can give me your fact I w keep shut. Oh you mean Ejide was involved in match fixing against Scotland?my man you are going too far on this cos a personality is involved and am hearing it for the first time. The match you are talking about i watched it Live and I can tell you Ejide was just too nervous in that match,he lacked composure and confidence in that particular match, the parried of the ball was not intentional.Haba this was a young boy just coming up keeping for Gabros in Nnewi, just getting national calls and was involved in match fixing,Haba Oga. It was this howler from Ejide that gave Enyeama the opportunity to be invited to super eagles.Ejide was always jittery in our friendlies,go and check it out. If you are saying Ejide was influenced by match fixing syndicate then Zubrizzetta of Spain that parried Garba Lawal crossed into his own net was influenced by who cos i never see any Spanish citizens accusing Zubri of match fixing. If i may ask you who are the people involved in Argentina match fixing cos in your first comment you said FIFA wanted to ban Nigeria, for what and now again you are trying to involve the refree.Pls do you really know the meaning of match fixing cos you are so sure of what you are saying, honestly am baffled. We beat Argentina thoroughly not match fixing cos nobody was accused and no investigation on both sides even on the officials but a lot believe Nigeria cannot beat Argentina 4-1 so there were beer parlour talks that led to nauseating news reports especially from junk sports media in UK who don't see anything good about Africa. Napoleon55:That's it most of these super power football nations always believe losing to a lesser team is a curse. |
elyte89:Pls nobody is comparing the two.Hope you know what brought up the discussion, try and read the pages back and you w have better understanding. |
Taliban:Yes you are right on Nigerian coaches but sometimes you find such players in the list of foreign coaches too, hope you remember Emeka Ezeugu a player with no distinct career as a footballer but always make Westerhoff list even made WC team or what can you say of Ezenwa making Rohr team, pls tell me the different between Ezenwa and Agbim. Did you know in Ezenwa most club career he was always a second choice, second choice to Akpeyi at heartland, second choice to Ebere Obi(Mikel bro)at Ranger and second choice at Ifeayi Uba in just concluded season but always find his way to national team at the expense of better keepers in the league. Truly seeing Agbim in goal during Keshi era was a slapped on Nigeria football but whom do we blamed Keshi but Ezenwa getting the call whom do we blamed Alloy Agu why not Rohr and Why not Ike Shorunmu under Keshi, hope you are getting my point. When we lost against South Africa some try to shift the blame on Salisu Yusuf and Alloy Agu and try to shield Rohr from blame forgetting Rohr got it wrong tactically against South Africa. Am not try to compare our local coaches with foreign ones but we must acknowledges their achievement not trying to rubbish it,see how guys were trying to erase Siasia record as the first coach to beat Argentina, some said Argentina paraded team B,funny enough some said it was a match fixed, just to rubbish his achievement. One thing is very cleared Rohr has a record to beat and the record is taking Nigeria beyond second round at WC and winning Afcon cos Westerhoff and Keshi have the record. I don't think there is need to compare achievement of these coaches especially with African national teams but the way guys are trying to downgrade this coaches, there is need to set the record straight.I w tell anybody who care to listen that Keshi's achievements was awesome and Rohr w be envy. Do they think it's easy to qualify tiny Togo for WC or winning Afcon, not try to diminish Rohr, this is the first he is getting it right in Africa soil,so seeing the way guys jump or try to antagonise anyone who has contrary view on Rohr bewildered me. Honestly i give it to Rohr for able to bring the winning streak back to eagles despite not able to qualify for two successive Afcon and i w always wish him the best in taking Nigeria football to glory. |
goldfish80:Just one of those rumours then cos Argentines back home believed is not possible for Argentina to lose by 4-1 to mere black nation. My man nothing like that happened and escaping FIFA ban for what,do any of our players involved cos i don't understand, match fixing is a serious issue and FIFA don't joke with it.Hope you remember John Fashanu and Liverpool legend Bruce Grobellar match fixing case, football Authority don't joke with it. The allegations was unfounded one and total baseless but my man you are saying it as if you are so sure,no o.Pls edit your comment cos a lot peep here and not good for our image. |
oloriooko:As i have said if not for Rohr saying he need ball playing defender, the guy offer nothing much from what we have presently, not try to criticise him cos have made mentioned of him on this thread that there was a Nigerian German born that captain Germany U20 team against Nigeria at WC. I watched him closely this season at least three matches cos he was always on the bench when season started and came into the team due to injury to one of the regular. So not that spectacular but normal defender who play ball on the ground and very useful in 3-5-2 formation, may be that what really drawn Rohr attention. |
terzurum5:Starting eleven?my man,Samson Siasia led eagles beat Argentina national team 4-1.Do we say Rohr did not beat Argentina coz Lionel Messi was absent. The major issue now is that they want to drawn us into technical superiority between Rohr and Siasia, meaning Siasia beat inferior Argentina team while Rohr beat superior team. Forgetting football cannot be analyse like that, remember Keshi held the same South Africa team to 2-2 draw but Rohr lost 2 nil,do we say Keshi is superior technically. I for one have acknowledge Rohr achievement so far with eagles but i w not be blind to criticise him constructively if need be,some see Rohr as a perfect coach forgetting a lot didn't believe in Rohr in the first place cos his CV was not good enough even Amaju said he gambled with his appointment. |
komekn:Yes very best hope we can see so something good in CHAN not necessary now but for the future. |
chrisooblog:Thanks for the observation,correction and remembrance.Already edited. |
Napoleon55:Suggesting Siasia for what? My man Samson Siasia beat Argentina senior national team 4-1 in Abuja,Rohr now the second coach to achieve the same feat. We are not trying to downgrade Rohr, his achievement with Nigeria team so far speak good of him but remeber he must surpass Westerhoff and Keshi's achievements to be rated as Nigeria best. |
Mujtahida:Well since Rohr said he need ball playing defender,Kevin fit the bill but nothing extra ordinary about him, have watched him thrice this season. |
komekn:Oga komekn no hope for home based if Nigerian players that find their way to Europe are now being marginalised for foreign born cos all i see now is Foreign born players, hope this will not affect the foundation. |
nelszx:No the goal was scored by Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi assisted by Mikel,Aiyenugba cannot be faulted with any of the goals, generally a good game for Nigeria despite not winning. The match was played in Bangladesh if am right. |
Eligreat247:What is the meaning of first coach to beat Argentina main team. Let me give you the scorecards between the two countries We played total of 13 matches Argentina (win) 6 (draw) 1 (lose) 2 (Goalfor) 12 (Goalagainst) 12 (point) 13,Nigeria (win) 2 (draw) 1 (lose) 4 (Goalfor) 12 (Goalagainst) 12 (point) 7. There is nothing like team B in international friendly match and nobody is hating Rohr but that's the fact he was not the first Nigeria coach to beat Argentina.Samson yebowei Siasia was the first Nigeria coach to beat Argentina. Let us always give respect to some of the achievements of our coaches cos some always full of excuses to downgrade their success.Do you want us to say Rohr beat Argentina cos Messi was absent,no is not tenable cos messi is not Argentina but a player playing for Argentina. Truly the local coaches cannot be compared with foreign ones but they are the real foundation of Nigeria football.I remember the same Siasia won silver at Olympics but was not celebrated like Bonfrere Jo that won Atlanta 96 gold with bunch of Super eagles players. Stephen Keshi won afcon but a lot believed it was luck winning all his matches from quarter final to final in 90 minutes but celebrate Westerhoff that used 5 years to nurtured a team to win afcon. Let us just respect their achievement though they have their shortcomings and my advice i noticed some don't want Rohr to be criticised,no is not possible we need to evaluate him critically so that the team can grow.Criticising him is not hatred but for the love of the team. Rohr has done well so far and kudos to him for yeoman job. |

Joebie:Yes the best should be given chance but when it come to sports pls give it to south east and south south and if you see any south west or northerners in sports they are extremely good. It's simple northerners don't give their ward very access to sports though the north central still allowed their kids to do sports but can't be compared to full blessing Igbo or South South man w give his children. Am a Yoruba man and i know how Yorubas take sports, they want you to be in school most Yoruba guys you see in sports are stubborn types, very few see the support of their parents. My growing up as a boy who love football and very talented was difficult cos my Dad believe so much in education, our house was just a minute to the Stadium. I wake up to see stadium main bowl every morning.but dodge to go to stadium despite my talent. My mates who have the opportunity of going to the stadium were well developed after secondary school, one even make it to Japan 93 squad in 1992 as secondary school boy, some played in the local league, some played professional football, at least 5 played as a full fledged national team player, one played in EPL while one played as FB for an European country at 2002 WC.Most of these guys are Igbo boys. After my sec sch i have little freedom in the university but i w not deceive you too late cos my peers in football ahead in term of fitness and confidence,I just played normal University games nothing more,my mind was on education not football. What am try to say is that the Igbo and Niger deltan we always have an edge over other tribes. They received early support from their parents than any other tribes and there is no way you can meet up with them, that's just the fact. |
Mujtahida:Yes tribalism brings division and not healthy at all.It always gives mediocre chance over brilliance. |
Joebie:Look am a Yoruba man but that's the fact, every tribe knows where e belongs to when it comes to sports, economy, social,IT,politics.if |
elyte89:Thank you my brother,i don't think there is single Yoruba in Japan 93 team but who care. If we are complaining what can we say about French nationals who have see it as normal thing to have at least 50% Africans in their team. |
Mujtahida:Mujtahida you belong to a class here so don't join all these roforofo fight, leave them to sort their issues out. Pls let's talk football, anybody that want 11 Yorubas or 11 Igbos in the XI should go ahead, there is no short cut in football cos players were always expose. I can tell you we have some bleeping tribal guys here but you just need maturity to get along. If you have third eyes you w know them, they hide it but they are real sectional. I hope this thread w not be turned to political thread were you hear zombie, wailers, afonja, ipobs. This is football thread and we are all here for a purpose, the growth of super eagles. Let me tell you basic fact a TRIBAL man we always identify tribalism, so if they like they should keep on mentioning Kunle,Gbenga,Abiodun, Bola etc or Ebere,Chukwu,Chidi, Chukwudi etc the best w always play for eagles. Icon4s said he has learnt to ignore comments that w not yield any result than for one to make a statement out of annoyance that one w be regretting later. Petrobas was force to make a statement you HATE IGBO cos he cannot ignored, better for us to learn how to ignore and move on. Let me tell you basic fact about me if i quote you and I see that you are not the type i don't quote again. If am wrong i apologize immediately, am not here to win trophy but to share ideas and learn. Forgiveness is free to say anything as far he didn't disobey the rules of the thread, the best if you cannot have healthy arguments with him you move on.Let him name any player it's his opinion he can't force them on Rohr and is free to criticise him, nobody business. Remember have come here several time to analyze factors that can be responsible for players invitations and you make your own contribution, so what is big deal in what Forgiveness is saying regards player invitation. I have some monikers i take delight in having discussion with regularly, some very rear, some i don't quote cos it w end in insult. If i quote and i noticed our discussion is losing basic respect i cut off i can even say am sorry or OK just to end it. Mujtahida,Jobie, tbaba1013,Junnyake,four of you belong to a class here if you don't know and you guys are too big for this distraction cos we source a lot from you. |
Joebie:Good appointment for Victor Okechukwu Agali a well trusted and loyal servant to Rohr.Loyalty always pay cos Rohr was Agali former coach and they have good relationship as a coach and player, hope Agali give us the best. They job is sensitive and Agali must not behave like normal Nigeria coaches. |
junnyjake:Kai 70s oh boy i no fit o but feel say something about 80s. 1.Segun Odegbami a great winger with skills and goals,a very pacy player who can be compared with CRonaldo in style of play.A great player in then 80s,very popular and showboy of Nigeria football, instrumental to Nigeria victory in 1980 afcon. He score 23 goals for Nigeria and remain the third highest goal scorer in Nigeria history but on goal ratio he is second to Yekini.Big Seg retired unceremoniously when the then Oyo state governor Col.Oladayo Popoola disbanded shooting star for losing to Zamalek in champions cup in 1882. 2.Austin Okocha remain a great player that came from nowhere and lightened Nigeria football after we believe that we w not see another talented player like Etim again. He was good and solid to watch. He was member of 94 victorious afcon and US 94 squad, still surprising that Okocha failed to win Africa footballer of the year despite his talent. He moved to PSG with a record deal of $16m.He scored a memorable goal for Frankfurt against Karlsruhe with Oliver Khan in goal. 3.Henry Nwosh a classical midfielder who made 1980 afcon as a teenager and played for the team till 1990He was member of Eagles in the 80s,participated at afcon 80,84,88.A very good midfielder with great left foot. He had most of his career with ACB of Lagos but moved to Gabon later to play professional football. 4 Etim Esin remain a mysterious player cos indiscipline ruined his career. Etim maradona was a solid and complete player but did not attained what could have be a glorious career.Prior to Chile 87 Etim was shot by armed robber after sneeked out of camp in the night in his brand new Peugeot 505.Despite this Nigeria government made sure he was treated and made the squad to Chile. He later moved to Lierse fc in Belgium but his career was short live after accused of rape.Etim ran away from Belgium to escape jail. |
Taliban:Yes you are right,Reuben couldn't cope with the weather and Siasia had a good game but blamed for not given Yekini a clear pass. |
Taliban:Yes you are right,Reuben couldn't cope with the weather and d Siasia had a good game but blamed for not given Yekini a clear pass. |
Taliban:Yea you are right Good old days. Algiers 90 most professional players failed to turn up and Westerhoff just went there with largely home based players and performed well after shaking start. The professional available are Andrew Uwe,Ademola Adeshina,Emma Okocha senior bro to JayJay,very solid player who didn't take football serious. Love your post my man |
Mujtahida:Yes Finidi was home based player, made his debut as a substitute for fumbling Eguavoen against Burkina Faso in the first half and made Yekini to score 4 goals in that match.I remember eagles track suit trousers needed to be cut cos the shorts were left behind in the hotel. Finidi a home based shut the door on Tijani Babangida who was already a professional with Roda JC. Amuneke was with Zamalek and Ikpeba find it difficult to break into XI Richard Owubokiri a great striker and one of the best in Europe couldn't make Eagles The same thing Mike Obiku of Feyenord despite his goal scoring find it difficult to displace the likes of Siasia, Amokachie to talk of big goon Yekini. Chris Ohenhen a solid striker with Compostela in LA liga but couldn't make the team. |
Secretgis:Na only 2baba feel do am others no fit, give dem mic to sing live naso dem go dey shake. |
Loogan:My man Kelechi Nwakili is good but post 2018 W/C |

Or something fundamentally deeper. Since the advent of the millennium and even before the desperate bid to leave Nigeria has become unquantifiable.
