Walelavender: Not all the time. PMB of APC was reelected in 2019. Weeks after, when the gubernatorial election was held, Seyi Makinde of PDP won the election against an APC man, bayo Adelabu in Oyo, an APC state, also Bala Muhammad of PDP displaced MA Abubakar of APC, a sitting governor. That was when the electoral law wasn't as strong as the one, newly signed.
I believe our electoral process will evolve with time, provided INEC is ready to do their best. Politicians will always frustrate the process. In 2019, both in Lagos and Oyo state. The margin in presidential election result between APC&PDP is far less than 100,000 votes. PDP won in Osun state. My point is, the election was keenly contested in South west and it was not a case of landslide victory has being recorded in states like katsina,Zamfara,Niger, and kebbi... If thugs were not being reeled out at Amuwo Odofin, Ago Palace , Festac, Navy town, satellite town and so many areas where Igbo's are fully domiciled in Lagos, to disrupt and hinder them from expressing their civic duties....I guess the margin wouldn't be above 10,000 votes that the ruling party would've won with, in addition with the show of hooliganism séf ,the margin was still a bit above 50,000 votes... |

ThinkSmarter: I honourably give it to the West when it comes to journalism. But unless he got the support of Buhari, he may not win. I heard the APC chairman is going to be by consensus. And he's an incumbent senator from Nassarawa. Ane that he is going to choose the presidential cand by consensus, likely from SE, Senate presid is zoned to SW. Zulum=vp Point of correction, an incumbent political office holder cannot hold any executive Position of Political Parties. Unless he resigns his duty post. |

Soulsymbol99: The presidencial election should come last cause who ever wins d presidency will hv a ripple effect on the other elections My thoughts also...but come to think of it ó, on a second thought - if presidential election did came last, with the voting pattern in the Gubernatorial election coming ahead of the presidential election and result already announced. Desperate politicians might want to "fight dirty" to ensure they tilt or align the balance of play.... For example, if Gubernatorial result shows PDP won 20 states out 31 States, leaving APC with 12 excluding Ondo,Osun,Ekiti&Anambra which already had their staggered election. What do you think would happen? |

Felicity0001: After reading all the comments on the proposed strike by Bolt drivers I just SMH in dismay.
The truth is there's no driver weather driving with Bolt/Uber/Indriver or any other that is not been affected by this dracula policies being dished out by these EH apps.
Just last week here Uber blocked my account permanent again with the reason that I rejected a card trip.
Now, I flashed back to some of the requests I got the previous day's and I deduced it was one rider that reported and without any form of consultation they just released the sledge hammer on my account, gbam!
The night b4 that day that my account was blocked I was still at lekki at around 9:45pm Uber would not let me set destination and all the trips I was getting was just around the island and I was tired and was desperate to go home, I'd been waiting for over 2hrs hoping to get a trip to the mainland even if na ikeja self I wouldn't mind but non came. My Bolt was on set destination for several hours it was the next day I noticed my temporarily drivers license had expired reason I didn't get a single trip all along and they couldn't even notify me instead they just stop request from coming in.
I finally decided to drive empty all the way from Chevron or thereabout and on getting to Bank Anthony way, Maryland I got this request with 2.0x on Uber I'd even forgotten my app was on. The rider was not too far away.
Where is this one going I thought within me so I put a call through and she said Ikoyi... I looked at the time it was past 11pm already.
Me wey don blow empty reach house already? What kind of temptation is this? I'll blow empty again come back if I embark on this trip oooh... I thought!
I asked her is it card or cash? This is fuel scarcity session and I've been doing card all along wont I take some money home? The next thing I heard was a man's voice on the background telling her to lie it's cash and not card but already the woman/lady had said it was card... Me: pls who's going on this ride because I just heard a man's voice on the background and the man said what's all these question with this guy, pls tell him if he doesn't want to go he should cancel.
I hanged up and turn back facing home and then she cancelled.
Next evening I went online and all 4-6 requeats I got all "rider cancelled" even b4 I could get their number to call or chat them. I was frustrated and went offline and didn't go out again that day.
The next morning trying to go online I got a message that my account has been blocked.
Me self I deleted their app straight up, deleted Bolt too. Installed my indriver and powered up my Rida app.
Yesterday I netted 12.5k on both apps with just 3 trips.
What am I trying to say here? Drivers are servants to these app companies but we drivers needs to wake up and tell them we are not servants but masters because we pay them and not them and the only way to change this narrative is to have a Union otherwise nothing will happen.
The idea of having a RS app is good but trust me it won't solve the problem because only one app can't serve the market and they'll at some point monetise it... E.g indrive, watch out for Rida now. They already "pay to app" on their app self so it's just a matter of time b4 they roll out their commission.
The union will have the government backing, belong to the NLC and a policy will be passed to every app coys to make sure every driver are to submit a Union ID b4 they'll be able to go online. With this every driver will be compared to join a Union and this will inturn even reduce the numbers of drivers on the platform because most drivers are part time drivers and this will discourage them or stop them from driving.
From there we can begin to engage these company properly by negotiating as partners not as customer that we currently are to them. Baba...this Rida app...how the thing be? How often do you get request? Abeg, update me to speed...make I know as e dey go |

Felicity001: Some riders are so stupid...
Took a lady from oniru Palace to chevron drive b4 I got to destination I decided to accept this request with 1min to PU.
After drop off... I've noticed most uber riders don't like calling again they'll just be texting you and expect you to reply even when you're driving... Such a dumb thing to do.
Security check and the address was not well spelt out so I'd to park to chat her up.
Me: Hello I'm at the gate can you call the securities R: you're in paradise 1 you have to come to paradise 2.
Which paradise are you talking about madam abi u no normal?
Me: okay that means your pu address is wrong, Kindly update your pu address for ease of locating you because I'm at chevron alternative route.
R: just use your map
Me: pls kindly update your pu address else I won't be able to pick u up. Thank you
R: just come to paradise 2
Me: kindly request another ride since you don't want to update with your right address. Good bye.
R: then cancel
I read am and didn't border to reply her, if you don ready to move you go cancel by yourself. Na so I on my Bolt and a trip request entered with 1.2x...0.8km PUD... She cancelled and Immidiately another request entered on Uber with 0km PUD.
I accepted the Uber since its 0km PU and since I'm chasing 2% Champaign.
My Uber rider was the same lady I brought down from oniru Palace.
We enroute back to oniru. And on getting to 2nd RA this lady asked me to make a U-turn at the traffic light... I didn't even know what happened as if this lady charmed me na so I go make the wrong turn instead of going straight to turn towards the road that leads to that Pep...(something filling station) come and see how all those lasma officers dem rush me... Carry phone dey snap, d once trying to open my doors, 2 standing in front, 1 asking me to wind down from the left and another on my right... I just kept my cool and this stupid girl was still asking what happened!!!
Me: can you just keep quiet! You asked me to turn for reason I don't even know... na me loose guard shall... Me: this turn is for those coming in from lekki ph1 ours is the 2bd one in front. R: so what do we do now? Me: don't touch anything on the car else the whole doors will open and they'll gain access into the car.
The way my car is designed the driver don't need to central lock or open from his side once a passenger pulls the knob in the door the 2 doors on the side they open will automatically open leaving the other 2 doors on the opposite sides locked and if the driver does likewise all the 4doors will open.
R: okay... Ha! What kind of thing is this now... What do we do now... Me: May be we have to beg them, but this guys don't listen to abeg... If I open the doors now they'll take us to their office straight.
We were still there and was already causing traffic. ..
One guy that was passing by started taking video of all of them and one of them started calling on the others attention that a guy was doing a video... Na so them wanted to chase the guy na so the guy japa...
After like 5minutes I refused to open my doors neither did I wind down, they got tired na so one of the senior the one standing at my right hand side who was gently asking me to wind down then said I should go... Speaking yoruba to then e fe le ko lo (You guys should leave him to go) with annoyance he hit my bonnet and my side mirror... That was how I turned my hand and went straight.
na so God take save me from those blood tasty zombies looking for potential prey to feed on.

U for stylishly disengaged the gear from (D) to (R)....looking @ the inner mirror and side mirrors, to ensure no "mumu" dey close to your bumper and no traffic in front...u go speed off...zooom I once performed this one time miracle years back but it wasn't ehailing hustle then, but those idiot fit go break your side mirrors ò...dem be weerey ò... |

"I'm at so so place waiting for you". She repeated it on the text about 3 times. I just picked up my phone and called her. The first thing she said was; "Why are you not replying your text"? I told her I was driving and I can't be texting and driving. She said how do I expect her to know I was driving? I said it's easy to know. Just look at the App and see the car, whether it is moving or static. She said what if she doesn't know how to check it? I said ok. Don't worry, I'm almost at your location. She entered and started acting up.....hissing and vexing! I just started the trip and zoomed off. Toxic riders everywhere |

Havertz10: drafting it out will be hard but its fundamentals are feasible, sustainable and with growth potential for all parties
let me give you some context for starters, uber doesnt make money, they provide customers with very cheap prices, guess the idea was to adjust it at scale but it hasnt scaled like expected thats due to so many factors but i think the main reason is because people look at the venture as a risky investment, thats why autonomous driving is the new buzz word for the future of the business model because the truth is you need plenty drivers for the system to work well
whats the roi for 2.5m using uber? considering the risk that your driver has to face and degradation to the car, and the drivers in particular are seriously missing out, the only way uber works is at scale and to get uber to scale you need customers, the problem here is while you need more customers enticed by cheap prices, you also need your percentage of drivers to increase to make the entire business model solvent, fewer drivers and cheap customers, means that the drivers arent earning enough and the business model will struggle cause it's not a worthwhile investment for drivers
for every 10k you make you are causing ~4k worth of passive damage to that car, and with more than 200,000 moving parts, those errors can escalate real quick, if we factor other variables, the odds are stacked against you as a driver or company owner, that's why social mobility is very low in its current form, logistics is a very profitable business model but it requires scale to work, if you dont scale it properly, it wouldnt work, what i propose is a method to the madness, orderliness in the system and a process that allows pricing to be defined by supply and demand
customer drop a location and time for the trip and its shared to various drivers that are in that proximity and they all pick a price that is favorable to them for instance, ajah to v.i can have a range of between 3000 and 5000, a driver can propose 2500 maybe he is heading home and such a trip is bearly an inconvenience, if not then it's 5000 but each trip must have a guaranty of profit for the driver, you can avoid saturation within various hot spots with cost benefit features for drivers, take a particular figure every month for insurance and people can actually build a life with such investments
you asked for an example
Let me use the ride sharing cause I personality think that there is money in that space, one thing that I noticed was that after work hours, most people drive their cars empty and its not because they cant share the ride, there isn’t a good system to link prospective riders to prospective customers, think about how many people will get home quicker, limiting traffic congestions, if more cars on the roads assisted in carrying passengers, a driver can be going to Ajah by 4pm, he advertises his route and people that will be along his path can book rides to meet up along the expressway for a fee, instead of driving empty, a driver can carry 3 passenger or more depending on how many you want to accommodate and also the preference of the passengers, if you want to share with less people the price increases, people can make serious money while doing it, this can happen anywhere in lagos on any route, based of the way Nigerian society stigmatize certain things, you can give it a name that doesn’t paint the driver in a bad light and makes such services appear hip like “carpooling ride shares”
if you are working in vi and you stay at Ajax, you can find ride shares that will leave when you close for a price that is slightly more that you would have paid using a bus and also provide comfort
I haven’t even factored the societal good that it will bring, if its properly regulated and maintained, with strict guidelines, and top class customer service because people need to understand that you care about them, if you have cars on the road doing this everyday, some can use it to fuel their car home from work each day, some will bond, others will build relationships, business ideas and you can even provide a monthly service at a discount for riders that transverse a particular route everyday and can collectively share a ride, you give random drivers the jobs and charge the riders a monthly fee for the service Have thought about this your brilliant idea like 3 years ago...but guess what will hinder it from flying? - InsecuritySecondly, we are not a race that our daily activities are tied to Time (t) - We don't clock cards at offices Buses movement do not arrive to time So many factors needs to be considered. However to bring such a lofty idea to fruition , the literacy level needs to improve. For literacy level to be improved or witness significant growth increase, the social economic status of citizenry must improve as well regarding HDI. My brother, what do you think is bringing about the lingering impasse between Drivers and Riders in this rideshare bizness? %80 can be largely associated to "Education" Talking about Education, I'm not just referring to the lame man definition of ability to "read&write", but a reflection of your persona in the society, your behavior, attitude, sense of reasoning , mode of dressing e.t.c On this thread, we've debated about : mode of dressing, neatness, mannerisms e.t.c I could remember few pages when some school of thought highlighted the importance of " Greetings" , other waring faction kicked against it saying : it doesn't matter "who greeting help" So my brother, a lot needs to be done to get some things running in this part of the world. If you ask me, I'm still of the opinion we are not ripe for ehailing using Lagos as a microcosm for my assumption. So, the idea is good but e go tey |

ndubuisi2021: I would believe you if you posted this in 2007. Just get abreast with present day reality before drawing a blanket conclusion.
12-15M in this present Nigeria, can only build you a three bedroom bungalow in Lagos, i.e excluding cost of land. Infact, you have to be very shrewd with expenses to achieve this. This is fact.
As per the guy looking for what to do with his money, hmm, I would never advise anyone to invest in this Uber/Bolt business. Coughing out a whooping 2.5m on this hustle is a NO for me. Think of other businesses to do with your money. It may take a while, but you will get there eventually.
The Uber business is retrogressive in nature, a backward vicious cycle. The dashboard you see here consists of money paid to filling stations (25% of earrings), money paid to app companies (25% of of earnings), repairs (20% of earrings), take home (10% of earnings).
You should grow and make profit in business which is not the case here. For someone that can't drive and hasn't driven before in Lagos, you shouldn't embark on this. You may find yourself back home and thinking after one week of trial. It's not worth it.
My two cents too. Flesh and blood did not reveal this unto you however, I'll be waiting patiently for a counter narrative from Ushe, who would roll out his business model of how you can build 1004 through E-hailing |
