Bulldozer90:~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ Let me step right into this convo and make corrections in your post. The FALSE and highly misleading figure of 200 trillion cubic ft of gas reserve for Imo State since 2021 is NOT tenable. The reference to the former Minister of State for Petroleum as being the source of that info in 2021 is false and the report emanated from unofficial bloggers and overzealous social media posters, NOT from an official source like NUPRC did in the link below. The TOTAL RESERVE of natural gas in Nigeria both onshore and offshore as of January 1, 2024 stood at 209.26 trillion cubic feet (TCF) as stated by NUPRC in the Website below: =>https://www.nuprc.gov.ng/nigerias-oil-and-gas-reserves-soar-nuprc-unveils-impressive-figures/ 16 APR 2024 NIGERIA’S OIL AND GAS RESERVES SOAR: NUPRC UNVEILS IMPRESSIVE FIGURES The latest figures on Nigeria’s crude Oil and Gas reserves have been released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The Commission’s Chief Executive, Engr Gbenga Komolafe, gave the breakdown on Monday during a press briefing at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja. Engr Komolafe revealed that as of January 1, 2024, the combined reserves of Crude Oil and condensate reached 37.50 billion barrels, while the reserves of Associated Gas and Non-Associated Gas stood at 209.26 trillion cubic feet (TCF). He added that within the total reserves, Crude Oil and condensate were recorded at 31.56 billion barrels and 5.94 billion barrels, respectively. According to the Chief Executive, the totals of Crude Oil and condensate reserves stand at 37.50 billion barrels, while the reserves of Associated Gas and Non-Associated Gas were reported at 102.59 TCF and 106.67 TCF, respectively. Engr Gbenga Komolafe says these figures shed light on the significant resources Nigeria possesses in terms of Oil and Gas reserves, reaffirming its position as a key player in the global energy landscape, which is crucial for the country’s energy policies, investment decisions, and overall economic planning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Then, the natural gas reserve in Russia alone as seen from the table in the link below shows that Russia has a natural gas reserve of 1,688 trillion cubic ft. So, you people out of overzealously have embarrassingly been throwing around that FALSE and highly misleading figure of 200 trillion cubic ft of gas reserve for Imo State since 2021 without FACT-CHECKING this info against the global figures. The TOTAL GLOBAL natural gas reserve is estimated at 6,923 trillion cubic ft! Therefore the Imo State gas reserve is NOT 200 trillion cubic ft like you and others are spreading around cyberspace. Someone right on this same page also gave a different figure of natural gas reserve for Imo State of a little over "1 trillion cubic ft" of gas. FACT-CHECKING is very necessary. A section of the media, propaganda Websites, bloggers, and YouTubers are responsible for this misinformation no doubt. =>https://www.worldometers.info/gas/gas-reserves-by-country/ Natural Gas Reserves by Country #Country Gas Reserves (MMcf) World Share 1 Russia 1,688,228,000 24.3% 2 Iran 1,201,382,000 17.3% 3 Qatar 871,585,000 12.5% 4 United States 368,704,000 5.3% 5 Saudi Arabia 294,205,000 4.2% 6 Turkmenistan 265,000,000 3.8% 7 United Arab Emirates 215,098,000 3.1% 8 Venezuela 197,087,000 2.8% 9 Nigeria 180,490,000 2.6% >https://www.worldometers.info/gas/ World Gas Reserves There are 6,923 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of proven gas reserves in the world as of 2017. wirinet:My thoughts too... The campus gangs could have tried to intimidate him into joining them... Just so many variables. The Emiko Royal Family of Warri (from where the boy's mother comes from) are wealthy and there's no way that boy would need money that it would NOT be sent to him via e-banking. I want to see all those who flogged this boy to his untimely death brought to justice with hard labor. |
delpee:Succinctly stated. |
OboOlora:@OboOlora, What strong substances have you been smoking lately?... What Queen of England was a kleptomaniac between the iconic Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth? You learned your global history upside down. On the other hand, I first read back in the 1990s that there are extreme exceptions when kleptomania has taken place among a few rich kids due to the intake of "psychotropic" substances OR due to "brain tumors" which can lead to kleptomania and other forms of antisocial behavior. There's no doubt, this ain't NO case of kleptomania. The boy was definitely framed up by some of his Uni acquaintances before being beaten to death. His mother's Warri Itsekiri Royal Family folks are well-known to be very rich. |
officialwdhtv:This is gross tbh. There's NO doubt that he was falsely accused. A boy whose mother is from the prominent Emiko Warri Royal Family of the Itsekiris couldn't have done that. For goodness sake, they are rich! Justice must be done to ensure those who hand a hand in flogging this boy to death are dealt with. The expulsion from that Uni is the first step. |
ubunja:I would advice YOU to have digital backups of nearly all your important posts and threads. Back in the early 2010s, this forum called NL lost some uploaded data. Some of our posts got missing forever. Though there's been an upgrade to a better server to prevent cyber attacks, any snafu can still occur online. |

Magnificenttop:Thank you. Your post is nicely put. As a member of Gen X who's also cosmopolitan and well-traveled internationally, I've always known the importance of living in harmony with others in a world that isn't monolithic in terms of cultures. But with the relentless narcissistic attitude of these youngsters from among the Ibos who don't even know their own sordid history, and who deliberately engage in online forgeries in order to disseminate highly defamatory, fake histories about other Nigerian ethnic groups online for many years now, (simply because of the loses by the mainly Ibo rebel secessionists in the 2 years and 6 months Nigerian Civil War), then it's time to STOP being "politically correct" and counter their shameful propaganda with EVIDENCE-BASED historical books, videos, and screenshots like we've done here to show them FACTS and enlighten the younger ones from all ethnicities. There's absolutely NO time to exchange curses or swear words with them like you've also stated... Just move and retreat with guerilla warfare and go for the jugular with pure FACTS based on screenshots, videos, and PDF downloads of books. Enjoy your weekend. Ciao. |
1Sharon:@1Sharon, how's it going? My pleasure... I'm glad the historical EVIDENCE-BASED info posted by me here made sense to folks like you and others. Indeed, If you don't know your history or where you're coming from, you won't be able to take full control of your immediate environment using the elements of foresight. If you're interested in getting those hard copy books I listed here that were published from several decades back, then you can start off FIRST by searching for the book titles via Google Books, OR simply just type and Google the book titles with PDF at the end of the book titles and voila!... The books will download immediately on your mobile device or laptop. The direct Web link for downloading the 1921 book "Among the Ibos of Nigeria" by Reverend George Thomas Basden where he wrote about the eating if humans (cannibalism) for food by Ibos in the wider areas East of Onitsha is BELOW: Always check the Index pages of the book for quick references to cannibalism, osu caste system, or any other words you are interested in. =>https://archive.org/download/amongibosofniger00basd/amongibosofniger00basd.pdf https://archive.org/details/amongibosofniger00basd ~~~~~~ I've also had for many years now a 1949 copy of this awesome book "HISTORY of NIGERIA" in my personal home library. The book was originally bought in 1949 by my late paternal grandfather with his name still written on it with pen ink in 1949. The direct Web links for reading and/or downloading the 1929 classic historical book "History of Nigeria" by Sir. Allan Burns are BELOW: Check the index pages of the book for the word "cannibalism" among the Ibos, and he wrote in the iconic book about the killing and eating of Doctor Rogers Stewart (the White medical doctor) in 1906 at Mbaise which led to a British punitive expedition. Sir Alan Burns (1887-1980) was a British colonial administrator who served as the Governor General of the Gold Coast (now Ghana) and he was also the Acting-Governor General of Nigeria in 1942. He had lived in Nigeria for many years prior, so, his advanced book was based on FACTS of history. =>https://ignca.gov.in/Asi_data/18507.pdf [You can rename the PDF book after downloading it from "18507" to the actual book name which is HISTORY of NIGERIA by Sir Allan Burns]. https://books.google.com/books/about/History_of_Nigeria.html https://archive.org/details/historyofnigeria0000burn_l3h8 Enjoy the rest of your day Sharon. Konquest:=>https://businessday.ng/energy/article/huge-oil-gas-find-validates-lekoils-bet-on-dahomey-basin/ Early interest by Nigeria’s leading oil exploration firms including Lekoil Nigeria Limited (with Lekan Akinyanmi as the CEO) exploring the Dahomey Basin, a combination of inland and coastal offshore fields stretching from Ghana, through Togo and Benin to southwest Nigeria, has yielded a potential 5 billion barrels of oil and billions of cubic feet of gas reserves, which could turn the region into the next frontier of commercial oil exploration writes ISAAC ANYAOGU. "Lekoil ramps up investments" Lekoil Nigeria Limited has four assets (OPL 310 being its flagship) which bear both oil and gas. The OPL 310 asset is offshore Lagos, barely 20 kilometres from Nigeria’s hub of commercial activities, and contains the Ogo discovery, which is the largest in Nigeria. Lekoil has a 62 percent shareholding in OPL 325, an exploration block of approximately 100 kilometres south of Lagos. While it is yet to drill the block, the company has access to 3D seismic data of over 740 km of oil deposit. A preliminary review of the prospects suggests oil in volumes of up to 5.7 billion barrels with an estimated 2 billion barrels recoverable based on analogues. Further seeing a pathway to driving drilling in the Dahomey Basin mainstream, Lekoil increased its interest in the concession to 40 percent, following the acquisition of one of its licences from Afren Oil and Gas in 2015. “The discovery of oil in the Ogo-1 well opens up a new oil basin in an under-explored region and represents a possible extension of the Cretaceous play along the West African Transform Margin. The discovery is a clear validation of Lekoil’s technical analysis and of our extensive studies on the Dahomey Basin,” Akinyanmi said in an interview with BusinessDay. Lekoil’s asset also includes OPL 276 where the company has a 45 percent participating interest. The asset was acquired in 2019. Historically, four wells have been drilled in the license area, resulting in four discoveries (two oil and two gas) with preliminary resource estimates of gross recoverable volumes of 29 million barrels of oil and 333 Bcf of gas, with upside of 33 million barrels of oil and 476 Bcf of gas (recoverable). Lekoil is still waiting to renew the license on the asset to start working on the block. ChiefJusticeFuc:There's NOTHING like Delta Ibo. What you have in that area of Delta North is a large number of communities founded within the last 800 years by migrants from Edo groups as Bini-Edo, Esan-Edo, Yoruba (Olukumis), Igalas, Nri. The great Anioma son who was in a active service for the Catholic church in Igbuzo (formerly called Ibusa) during the Nigerian Civil War, Reverend Father Kunirun Osia in an interview he granted to Emeka Esogbue shortly before he passed said CLEARLY that it is WRONG for misinformed people right from the colonial era until of recent to erroneously continue to refer to ALL indigenes of Anioma as Ibos or Delta Ibos, because ALL Anioma indigenes came from multiple ethnic groups. Kunirun Osia was an indigene of Obamkpa in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State which the same LGA that the Olukumi towns or community are located close to Onicha Ugbo, and Isele Uku in the same Delta North. |

naptu2:Obi might win this because of the ethnic sentiments and bloc votes given to the guy during the last Presidential elections. So many variables can occur all of a sudden and someone else such as Kingsley Moghalu can crop up because of his eloquence and financial knowledge as a Central Bank of Nigeria official. |
naptu2:Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso might win the leadership seat here because of his sentimental connection to the Talakawas or the folks on the street level in the far-North of Nigeria. Naptu2, I also think that boundary adjustments would need to be made so that ethnically similar communities can be merged administratively with their larger kith and kin in each of these regions. Also having up to 9 regions instead of 6 regions would also help to create more room to allow other ethnicities in the Middle Belt States and South of Southern States to thrive better. Also the Western part of the Middle Belt has more Muslims than other religions, while the Eastern part of the Middle Belt has more of those who claim to be Xtians and adherents of the various traditional religions. The Edoid folks in Edo and Delta States can be in one solid region while the Ijaws of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, etc, can form another regional bloc with the Efiks, Ejagbams (Ekoi), Ibibio, Annangs, etc, of Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers. Better yet give Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom their own single bloc region. While the Rivers, Bayelsa and the Ijaws of Delta State can all be in the same regional bloc. These can be further tweaked to take care of ongoing concerns. Just my 2 cents.

naptu2:Babatunde Fasola, SAN. Just like the London School of Economics and Political Science-educated lawyer, Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, Babatunde Fasola, SAN, is very cerebral, and can always bring innovative thinking into governance. The day I saw a photograph of Babatunde Fasola's Lagos economic team on an official visit to the father of modern Singapore (Lee Kuan Yew) in 2007, I knew that Fasola was gonna do quite well as a Governor. From "Third World to First: The Singapore Story" is a classic book written by the late Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore which I first bought and read in the early 2000s and it's still a part of my home library. To round off, the iconic Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge was conceived by Babatunde Fasola and his team as a futuristic, architectural suspended bridge. You have to dream BIG dreams in order to be able to disruptively innovate. |

delpee:@delpee, Indeed, Lekki Phase 2 wasn't part of the defunct Maroko... I've just corrected the typographic error that arose due to the sensitive autocorrect feature of my Internet-enabled device. You do have a succinct sense of history as confirmed by our last convo on NL about Mrs. Folorunso Alakija's Supreme Stitches and the other Nigerian elite fashion brands in Lagos from the 1980s. Thanks for the heads-up. Enjoy your weekend... Ciao. |

Newlymarried:Ever since the global war on terrorism and more escalated from after the simultaneous 9-11 attacks happened in the United States in 2001, there have been several rules banning air travelers from bringing specific items on board planes. This laser pointer is one of such items. So, if you're planning to fly internationally, do a quick check on the items that you can OR cannot bring on board planes and you're good to go. |
itoghor0007:It's technically possible to travel to SA by a car or bus, but it's NOT commonly done by transportation companies. You also have to apply for entry visas in countries such as Angola that you will be passing through. Get a map to see the land route you'll have to pass through for days over 6000 kilometres: Nigeria=>Cameron=>Gabon=>Congo=>Dr Congo=>Namibia =>Angola=>Botswana=>South Africa. This is all I've got to say.

opamoses1:@Opamoses1, Lekki is a different location from Lagos Island, Ikoyi Island or Victoria Island (Iruland). Lekki is a Peninsula and this is why Lekki Peninsula is used to describe that whole landmass. For those who don't know, the entire Lekki Peninsula got it's name from Lekki Town (which is an indigenous Ijebu town in Lagos State) in Ibeju-Lekki LGA of Lagos State. Lekki Phase 1 is NOT the real Lekki Town. Ibeju-Lekki LGA, Epe LGA and Ikorodu LGA are the 3 Ijebu-owned LGAs in Lagos State sharing borders with the indigenous Ijebus of Ogun State right across the Lagos-Ogun States boundaries. Therefore, Victoria Island Extension, Lekki Phase 1 of today used to be part of the Maroko slum until the then Lagos State Administrator Brigadier-General Raji Rasaki ruthlessly demolished the residential slum overnight in 1990 for reclamation and further gentrification. Then plots were resold. As of the time the then Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos came onboard in 1999, Lekki Phases 1 and 2 did NOT even exist as built up areas! So, a Peninsula is any landmass that is almost surrounded by water, hence Lekki Peninsula, Bakassi Peninsula, etc. An Island is any landmass that is completely surrounded by water, hence, we have Lagos Island, (Iru Island or Victoria Island, Ikoyi Island, etc. Hope that helps.

Magnificenttop:@Magnificenttop, Your post is succinctly stated. My concern is just that with half-truths and outrightly forged historical information being deliberately and regularly posted by these creeps online and offline to tarnish other ethnicities' histories, CLEAR facts like the 4 academic screenshots that I have attached to my last post debunking the claims of these youngsters among the Ibos have to be sustained by more enlightened folks instead of being aloof. There is well documented evidence from Reverend George Basden (who lived in Onitsha as a respected Missionary for years) who wrote a book titled "Among the Ibos of Nigeria" showing that Ibos were head hunters and ate human beings for food (based on the confessions of some of Ibos who converted to the new White man's religion told him). Rev. George Basden said areas to the East of Onitsha ate human beings for food even well into the 1900s and the British Colonialists created a "HEAT MAP" showing the ethnic groups in Southern Nigeria that ate humans for food and the IBO areas featured prominently. A gory episode involving Doctor Rogers Stewart, a White British-born medical doctor who was riding a bicycle in the Mbaise area of today's Imo State in 1906 is well known in history. The White man (Doctor Stewart) who lost his way while in a group was killed and his human flesh was eaten, with his bicycle tied to a tree to "prevent" it from "escaping." This is the episode that led to the British forces organizing a punitive expedition to deal with the Mbaise people for the killing and eating of the flesh of the White doctor. This Doctor Stewart's cannibalism story was also used by Achebe in his book Things Fall Apart. But the Mbaise killing of that White man was NOT a fiction, but it happened historically in 1906 and was even reported in New York Times based on archival documents I have seen. The Anioma communties, Edos, Yorubas, Igalas, etc, had NO cases of eating human beings OR cannibalism on that Cannibalism Distribution map. Sir. Allan Burns who was the Acting-Governor General of Nigeria also Indicated in his famous book "History of Nigeria" that the advanced civilizations before 1900 were Oyo Empire, Benin Empire, Sokoto, and Kanem Borno Empire of the Kanuris. The Ibos were prominently classified as part of the primitive societies or cultures of Nigeria in Sir. Allan Burn's book, so, how the hell will these overbearing, highly dishonest creeps who are being BRAINWASHED by their Ibo secessionist Websites and propaganda be bragging or claiming that they are better than other ethnicities in terms of foods and more? These are the same people who are historically known to the European or British Colonialists and their immediate ethnic neighbors such as the Igalas, Bini-Edos, and Anioma communties to be notorious human flesh eaters for food as indicated in the last screenshot BELOW this post well into the 1900s, and they walked half-clothed. It's share LOW self-esteem on their part to be honest! Please save and share the screenshots and historical facts as well showing the etymology or origin of these Yoruba words such as Egusi, Akara, Agidi, Elubo, etc, so that the younger ones and even others can be properly educated. Cheers.
