I'm not a fan of these kinds of proposals tbh. Something much more intimate would have been okay with sensual sounds wafting in the background.

After these proposals, what NEXT? A lot of so-called proposals haven't led to marriages anyways. A man and woman must be
financially, mentally, and psychologically ready to take the next LEAP into the marriage space.

Proposals ain't nothing until the parties involved are properly wired up mentally! Period.

jeromestarks:
Nigeria’s old National Anthem

Nigeria we hail thee
Our own dear native land
Though tribes and tongue may differ
In brotherhood we stand
Nigerians all, are proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.

Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign
In peace or battle honour'd,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.

O God of all creation
Grant this our one request.
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.

The House of Representatives passed a bill seeking to return us to reciting the old national anthem.

I like the part that says "In brotherhood we stand"

Neighbours correct. This due to Ecological factor in linguistic analysis.

Interwoven with the Yorubas of the NorthEast Flank ? Correct. Okun people factoring.

Interwoven with the North Central Yorubas ? Came to be during Oranmiyan's and team's espionage across Niger River.

Oranmiyan and group went as far as close to Songhai Empire(oral history with evidence of Yoruba Fabrics, beads, found in Mauritania and beyond) before returning due to his inability to penetrate Songhai Empire.

Therefore he returns back to extract some Tapa/Nupe who became loyalist to him in reestablishment of Katunga and later Eyoe who were of Nupe admixture.

Finally, the people who were of Igala are admixture of Tapa, Jukun,Idoma, Ibos(Ìgbò) etc Yoruba.

Pointing to language separation 5000 years ago is pointing to the Biblical information on Tower of Babel . And this is false because there is no Igala as a man in Ifá but animal in all ramification.

The ifa as esoteric divination system has absolute information on the people who claims historical alliance and same variation of language identified as Yorùbá people.

In ileife, there is no household that Igala can lay claim to as ancestral household unless, the one that begun during the return of Oranmiyan back to ileife after the demise of obálùfọ̀n ogbógbodirin and his son Obálùfọ̀n Aláyémórè around early 1200AD. And the Igala, will be fused under Eredumi household who is under Obadio of Ogun household.

This was when Prince Orànmìyàn returned and Obálùfọ̀n Aláayémórè abdicated the throne for him to establish ẹfọn Alàayé .

Even in iléifẹ, there is what is called strangers quarters.Kindly verify my assertion through visit to ileife. You see, the hypothesis being stated online is quite different from reality on ground.

Finally , there were oral account in ifa where the world begun in the ancient "iléifẹ" (vast household) or "ilẹ̀ifẹ" (vast endless land) and there are three world that have existed. The present world is the third.

• Ooni: Igbo Irunmole was the same as the Abrahamic Garden of Eden and Osun was Eve
By Chris Onuoha

Following the controversial statements and counter opinions emanating from some quarters as a result of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Oguwunsi’s statement that the Yoruba and Igbo have common affinity, the Attah Of Igala, Dr. Idakwo Ameh Oboni, says Nigerians “are the same people and Ifa oracle is the link”.

Attah Of Igala, Dr. Idakwo Ameh Oboni

The monarch stated, “From the Igala man to the man with Kwararafa blood in him, to the original Nigerians, Ifa is cardinal.”

This contradicts the claim made by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, that there were no linguistic, cultural and economic ties for several thousand years before the advent of the Europeans and formation of Nigeria.

African Socio-cultural Harmony and Enlightenment Foundation (ASHE) released extracts from an upcoming documentary of paramount traditional rulers in which the Attah and the Ooni explain the link between original Nigerians, known as the Niger Kongo ethno-linguistic family believed to be a continuum of dialects.

Oboni compared Ifa to a powerful torchlight that shines into darkness.

“Igalas have the same16 like the Yoruba, which guided us to our homeland. The pronunciation might be slightly different but Ifa is the same!”, the Igala monarch said.

Prince Justice Faloye, President of ASHE, said Ifa is not a religion but includes religion, adding that Ifa is not philosophy but contains philosophy, science and everything about humanity.

Faloye went on: “It is the original African way of organizing and storing all information and activated with the electromagnetism that comes from the 256 pulses of the Odus”.

The Attah explained that Igala language is 60%-70% Yoruba mixed with Jukun Kwararafa influences.

The monarch pointed out that the Yoruba spoken in Ife or Ilesa is different from that spoken in Kabba, closer to Igalaland, saying that is how language diverged throughout Africa.

“Kwararafa cultural influences extend from South Kaduna to Cross River, including groups like Agatu, Chamba, Ekoi, Ham etc. It is the origin of the Benue-Congo ethno-linguistic subfamily that spreads to East and South Africa”, he said.

An air turbulence. The aircraft dropped by "6000 feet"... Damn! It looks like a mini tornado ripped through that Singapore Airlines plane.

I've been involved in a significant number of air turbulences while flying over the years, but I always pray NOT to encounter a "wind shear" which is deadlier than an "air turbulence."

Thank goodness, the pilots made it to the nearest airport in Thailand.

The Nigerian anthem as of the 1960 independence was very sonorous and inspirational as can be seen and heard in the clear video here which was shot in the United States while the new flag of Nigeria was being hoisted. It brought some little tear to my eyes as well which was induced through the evocation of fond memories from back in the day..

Brilliant. It's impressive that you dug the video up stating the FACTS.

https://punchng.com/old-money-10-super-rich-men-of-independence-era/

The article sbove NEVER indicated that Louise was a billionaire according to the gross misinformation from the OP. All the rich folks from Candido DaRocha of Lagos Island but originally an Ijesa man whose family returned in the 1800s from Bahia in Brazil, to Alhassan Dantata of Kano, to Louise, were all Pounds millionaires. The Punch article writer did indicate that in today's value, the millions were worth billions today. Alhaji Alhassan Dantata of Kano was actually the richest man in Nigeria as of the time he passed on in 1955 in Kano.

In any event, the man who is the subject matter of this thread was NEVER a billionaire but a millionaire, and Frederick Forsythe indicated in his book that I read (which was published during the Nigerian Civil War) that Louise Ojukwu made his first millions from buying land from the indigenes of Iruland (or Victoria Island) and then reselling the lands to the British Colonialists who purchased it from him.

Most of those peddling and rehashing the misleading information for some years now (on several Ibo-owned online platforms) about the Rolls Royce are primarily his Ibo kinsmen and other unsuspecting younger folks of other ethnicities who read these fictitious histories online and offline.

Hmmm... deep insights you just gave here and I had to quickly reply.

Well yes, Kano folks being a relatively conservative people in terms of culture and faith do not want an Amir who is too forward and that is what SLS is known for. The key points about underaged brides, almajiris, lavish lifestyles and driving Rolls Royces, etc, you gave here in your post are very succinct.

I remember a few years ago that Ganduje once said most of the almajiris in Kano and elsewhere in the far-Northern states are from Niger Republic though. Something has to be done about engaging them in productive enterprise in addition to the Quranic education that can even lead to them becoming Arabic translators and earn income from that down the road.

Anyways, as long as Kano folks are okay with the removal of the 5 Amirs, then that's cool.

The Habe dynasty (Hausas) used the Sarki title for their natural rulers in Kano pre-1803 jihad.

The Hausa dynasties were over 800 years as of the time the combined Fulani and Hausa Islamist rebellion to sack the Sarkis took place. The Sarkis were later replaced with the title Amir (leader of the Islamic faithful) by the Fulanis.

emkz:
Good idea.

It is his constitutional right.

Atiku has taken the record for the greatest number of presidential runs.

In 2023, he had the best shot in his life for the position. He had to be defeated to realize that division can be calamitous.

Unlike the other one, Atiku knew he lost. Because he knew this, he went to Chicago State University to prove an unfounded allegation that Tinubu never graduated from there. When he realized Tinubu graduated, he tried to prove Tinubu forged a certificate. When he realized that the Registrar of the University said they don't handle replacement certificate, Atiku took his deposition and brought it to the Supreme Court.

No US court stamped it, no US agency notarized it, no US Embassy authenticated it.
Atiku knew his deposition was inadmissible.

If he believed he won, why didn't he present his polling unit agents results from the field? If he believed the election wasn't free and fair, why didn't he publish cases of irregularities?

Atiku and the other one tried to plunge Nigeria into a constitutional crisis because they lost. They are not leadership materials. However, they stand a chance if Tinubu fails.

As for Atiku, if you ever want to run again, you must avoid the following persons:

1. Dino Melaye: this is the guy you allowed to lead your campaign. He is not mature for such responsibilities.

2. Phrank Shaibu: This one spent time attacking Tinubu instead of convincing voters about your programmes. He also defended the failure of your media team to do the proper work. He misadvised you to grant two press conferences that did not cover you in glory.

3. Daniel Bwala: This one has visited the person who defeated you more than three times in 5 months. He seems to already avoid you. Either he was a mole in your campaign or never believed in you.

4. Don Pedro Obaseki: He was your head of research and ought to have been aware and properly advised you that the Chicago route was a calamity for you. The premise that Tinubu never graduated was wrong. When you realized he graduated, you shifted to certificate forgery, which ended up being punctured. He failed to guide you properly.

5. Paul Ibe: This one only became visible after you lost.

6. David Hundeyin: This one was discredited by Oxford over matters of sexism and fraud by Oxford University. He released stories on Tinubu that were based on speculations and sold them to you. He scammed you.

7. Dele Momodu: Wike referred to him as a professional buttlicker.

8. Timi Frank: In 2022, this one lied that Tinubu did not graduate from Chicago. He claimed EFCC and FBI had a letter stating so. No one saw the letter and no one knew if he was high when he said this.

9. Nduka Obaigbena: This one could not come out openly to use his media houses to endorse you.

Others are: Peter Obi (he cost you the election) and Ifeanyi Okowa (he was not as enthusiastic as you in his desperation).

I cannot add Reno Omokri, because you never gave him a role in your campaign. I suspect he tweeted the condemnation of the lynching of Deborah Samuel Yakubu on your behalf on Twitter. You deleted the tweet and pushed him away.

Reno believed in you more than the others who scammed you of your money.
Stellar summations.

...As state assembly dethrones Emir Bayero, others

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II has been reinstated as the Emir of Kano, LEADERSHIP has authoritatively gathered.

This decision followed the Kano State House of Assembly’s resolution to dethrone the current Emir and also dismantle the four new Emirates in the State established under a controversial 2019 law.

Though it has not been officially announced, LEADERSHIP has it on good authority that Sanusi II has been reinstated, and is expected in Kano on Friday.

According to credible inside sources, “So certainly with the passage of the Bill, Sanusi automatically stands reinstated. No need for confirmation, the thing to is wait for the Governor to assent to it.”

The then restructuring of the Kano Emirate is seen as a political manoeuvre to diminish the influence of then Emir Sanusi II, a vocal critic of the former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje administration. The creation of the new emirates fragmented the authority of the old Kano Emirate Council, diluting its power and influence.

Meanwhile, the Majority Leader of the Kano State House of Assembly, Lawan Hussaini Chediyar Yan Gurasa, who sponsored the Amendment Bill, shortly after Thursday’s session, revealed to journalists that, “the bill has been sent to the governor for assent, now there is no longer an active Emir in Kano in all the five Emirates; Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye. The law now provides the governor to call on the traditional kingmakers to choose a new king.”

All the Amirs of the 5 Emirates and Sanusi Lamido Sanusi are all cousins from the same family tree. If finally confirmed, I guess they'll accept their fates.

There is only one way to Igbo presidency, they need a very strong politician who can command loyalty across tribe (especially the North).

Tinubu got elected as president in 2023 not because he is Yoruba, but because he is a very strong politician who command some loyalty with the Northern caucus. If it was another Yoruba on the ballot in 2023, Atiku would have defeated the person.

Peppermaster:
Obaseki: How a Nsukwa Family of Anioma Ruled Benin Empire as an Oba

- Emeka Esogbue

The Obaseki family of Benin is indeed of Anioma ancestry from Nsukwa Kingdom in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State. Other communities lying close to Nsukwa are Umute, Aba Ukwu, Adonte, and Ejeme Aniogor. According to J. P. Nkem Onyekpe, "Nsukwa" is an Anglicization of Nchukwa. Since its foundation, Benin and Anioma communities have enjoyed relations in the form of trade, marriage, diplomacy, and wars but these particular Benin-Nsukwa relations are a relationship that defines cultural association.

As was the cultural practice within the period under discussion, Agho who was the Crown Prince to the throne of Nsukwa Kingdom was sent to Benin for training on administration and he struck a friendship with Overamwen Nogbaisi, the other Crown Prince to Benin Kingdom.

With time, Overamwen ascended the throne as the Oba of Benin and conferred the title of Obaseki of Benin on Prince Agho, his childhood friend who was now placed in charge of trade and foreign affairs in Benin but in the years ahead, particularly in 1897 disaster struck when Consul Philip and his group of the British expeditionary to Benin were waylaid with some of them killed by Benin forces which irked the British.

After the trial in which Overamwen and several of his chiefs were either executed or exiled, Obaseki Agho became de facto Oba of Benin, holding the kingdom together that had now lost the empire in her in peace. The new patriarch of Obaseki also had two of his children taking up the "Obaseki" title after him.

Obaseki Agho never returned to Nsukwa, his land of birth, an Anioma community located in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State today to assume the kingship of the kingdom as royally expected of him and at the passage of time, the family surname became Obaseki as borne today.

As it turned out, Godwin Obaseki would rise to democratically emerge as the Governor of Edo State on a term political contract, ironically he could appoint anyone to stay in charge of commerce, the position once enjoyed by the patriarch of his revered family.

Obaseki is a popular family name today in Benin but it was originally a traditional title conferred on an Anioma son who tradition did not permit him to live together with his father and also needed training on kingship. Nsukwa which claims Benin origin according to HRM Obi Ezegbunem 1, the Obi of the community as stated in an interview granted by The Punch Newspaper on February 9, 2019, first settled in Umunede and later Kwale in search of peace, before finally arriving at Uso Ukwa (Beside the breadfruit) where they finally settled.

It is from this "Uso Ukwa", that the name that the community bears today is derived. The Obaseki family may have chosen to remain in Benin but history remembers them as being Anioma from our Nsukwa community.

This is one of the most powerful man in Nigeria, I'd even love to say the most powerful man in Nigeria, folks like him are called the unseen kingmakers.
