This thread is specifically for any positives coming from Yorubaland, how to move the region forward, the Yoruba diaspora and Yoruba success stories in general so we can discuss. Please let's endeavour to keep up this page.
BabaRamota1980: Eternal knot (Solomon's knot) was adapted in late 50s as a symbol of political North. It was never a part of your culture. You cannot show any picture of anyone or anywhere in Hausaland, pre 1950, with the knot on their garments.
I can show pictures taken of Yorubas in 1905 with the knot on their Agbada.
Prior to internet people used to say Yoruba got Islam from Hausa...but we already busted that myth. You guys thought you were the only Yoruba contact and gateway to the desert and the Arabs but no, you are not.
^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ @BabaRamota1980
You are correct in your submission about the Eternal knot. The guy who said the Eternal knot is originally from the north must be a young person.
A senior politician and member of Arewa Consultative Forum from the north said in a published newspaper article that I read around 2002 that Sir Ahmadu Bello got the design of the popular Eternal knot design when he visited Yorubaland and he loved the design, so he incorporated it into the emblem of the Arewa... to such an extent that the design has become ubiquitous in the Northern part of Nigeria. He mentioned that fact in the newspaper article because he wanted Nigerians to know how LIBERAL Sir Ahmadu Bello is in his interactions with other Nigerians... in this case, the Yoruba. I still have the newspaper in my archive stating that the Sardauna of Sokoto got the design from Yorubaland!
This history of Yoruba people being the original source of the Eternal knot in Nigeria should well documented because some people actually wrongly think it came from the Hausa.
Islam came to Yorubaland from Mali with Iwo town as the epicentre of Islam over 500 years ago.
On a courtesy visit to the area, the following was gathered from King Ayo and Prince Adebowale Ochei of the Royal house:
Traditionally, the area was divided into a number of societies, Some of which include The following:
According to Ugbodu.net the community's online website, there have been two dynasties of Obas and Olozas (Probably culled from the Yoruba and Benin terms: Olaja, Olareja, Onoja, Onogie Etc) who have ruled the communities at different points in history.
ct2: Former Vice President of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar for the first time said he started business as a transporter in 1971, while he was in the full employment of the Nigerian Customs, working at Idi-Iroko border.
The former Vice President made the fresh revelation after receiving the Honourary Achiever Award, at the Africa’s Youth Entrepreneurs Conference and Award titled “A Stand With The Giants”, at InterContinental Hotel in Lagos on Thursday night.
Atiku dedicated his award as Honourary African Outstanding Entrepreneur to Nigerian youths, and urged the youth to have more drive towards entrepreneurship.
“I came to Lagos on June 29, 1969 and after my two years training (with the Nigeria Customs Service); I was posted to the border station of Idi-Iroko. At that time, the Badagry Road had not been constructed and the only means of transportation to the rest of the West African corridor was through the Idi-Iroko border to what used to be called Dahomey and what is now known as Benin Republic.
“On getting to Idi-Iroko, my first posting, I was not married and what I discovered was that the most promising business was transportation. Many pickup vans were transporting women traders from Ajase (Port Novo) to Lagos every morning, and every evening from Lagos back to Port Novo.
“So I asked myself, how I can seize the opportunity of this moving business. I came over to Lagos and in those days SCOA were the sole distributors of Peugeot, so I went to SCOA and I signed a hire-purchase agreement and bought four of those pickups and gave them to four different drivers and every day they will bring their returns to me and at the end of the month, I will go to SCOA and pay them.
“I wasn’t married, so my salary was intact and in addition I was saving from what I was getting from my transport business. So, sometime, to be an entrepreneur you must have the ingenuity to be an entrepreneur.”
The revelation was not contained in his 328 page biography: Atiku:The Story of Atiku Abubakar, written by the late Onukaba Adinoyi-Ojo and published in 2007. The book detailed Atiku’s two year life at the border post, his chance meeting with Titi, the woman who later became his first wife and the challenges faced with smugglers bringing goods from Benin Republic.

Atiku noted that the country’s education system in the early 1960s provided the Nigerian youths the opportunities to make diverse career choice.
According to the former Vice President, “the educational system we operated in the First Republic provided our students then the opportunity to either go to universities or go to technical colleges or to go to crafts schools. There was never a dropout in that kind of educational system. The dullest was trained on a skill and given the capital to start a business.”
Atiku Abubakar however regretted that “suddenly, Nigeria moved away from that to a system of education where you train only job seekers.
He pointed out that the products of this educational system don’t know how to do anything else other than to seek for jobs, adding that they cannot self-employ themselves. “So, what I am trying to say is that my Nigeria is possible and your own Nigeria is possible”, he said.
The former Vice President urged the youth to take advantage of the rebound in railway infrastructure that was built by the last administration to start a business initiative of transportation of goods across the country and reduce the reliance on heavy duty trucks to convey those goods.
He paid glowing tributes to music art youngster, Wizkid for his besting some of the greatest in the industry to clinch the Best International Act at the MOBO awards.
“Wizkid’s international award is a victory for Nigeria. Art is important not only for the revenue it brings and the business around it but for the image of our country. A good image has the capacity to trigger investments. The investments will generate much needed jobs. The jobs will not only ensure the security of families but the security of our nation and engender progress and development”, he said.

Realdeals: Few months to his 20th anniversary, what appears to be the real cause of the sudden death of late Nigerian Head of State and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Sani Abacha has been unearthed. Brigadier General Dr. Oviemo Ovadje (OFR) an inventor and veteran military health specialist told Asabe Afrika TV in an exclusive interview inside his Lagos home how the former Nigeria leader lost his life 20 years ago.
General Ovadje who is one of the very eminent Nigerians who won a CENTENARY MEDAL during Nigeria's 100 years anniversary celebration in Abuja on February 28, 2014 is famous for inventing the Emergency Auto Transfusion Set (EAT-SET), an innovative and affordable blood auto transfusion mechanism that saves accident victims and patients across the world. He gave us the vivid description of how the former Nigerian military ruler died in the early hours of Monday, June 8, 1998. Enjoy the clip!
bosah360: We all remember the ebonyi state university final year student Oge Kate who resorted to making her own garri after garri became expensive if you missed that story click here to get the full details.
Right now Oge Kate has graduated from Ebonyi State University in the department of history and international relations. As a bright student she was, she seems to be among the best graduating students in her class.
Going with the trend in Nigeria, as it is difficult for one to get employed after school. but instead of kate staying at home idle while she looks for a good job. rather she chose to keep herself busy with this lucrative business which most of you are not aware of which is CHARCOAL BUSINESS. most readers would be amazed by this type of business but let me bring to your notice that charcoal has played a very vital role in our daily activities, directly or indirectly, as ogechukwu kate recently posted on her facebook wall the importance of charcoal. she equally made it known that a lot of people had been buzzing her asking her how to engage in the business, see her post below
^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ The cutting down of trees for charcoal causes global warming and climate change.
Biogas is a better alternative from cow dung and organic waste from refuse disposal! Biogas is renewable energy.
Charcoal selling for local use and export should be banned just like in other countries!
The young lady is industrious but cutting down trees for charcoal use is not environmentally sustainable since trees remove carbondioxide from the atmosphere and releases oxygen for use by living things.

We all know the story of the Nigerian Lady that married the love of her life, an Uber Driver...Well, it turns out the man might not be all what he seems afterall.
The Uber driver had an ex that he was two timing on when he was dating his present wife. Allegedly, he dumped the ex when she lost her job and couldn't take care of his needs anymore leading him to move on to the bigger fish, his current wife.

The suspects, Simon Tyozemda (27) from Benue State and Lucky Friday (24) from Delta State were arrested on Wednesday, 14th March, 2018 with two long knives inside a UBER operated cab, a Toyota Camry Saloon with the registration number APP 145 EE, which they had planned to kill its driver and steal.
The gang leader, Simon had through his girlfriend’s UBER app ordered a Taxi at past 11:00 p.m. last week. The suspects plan was to lure the driver of the Toyota Camry to a desolate location, kill the driver and take away his vehicle.
The suspects were taking the driver to a lonely place on Lekki – Epe Expressway, Lagos, when their vehicle was stopped by RRS officers for a stop and search. The officers noticed one of the suspects seated at the back of the vehicle hiding a long knife.
Investigations revealed that the suspect’s intention was to divert the driver to a lonely place and snatch his Toyota Camry.
Further police investigations revealed that the duo ex-convicts who were released between December 2017 and January, 2018, from Kirikiri had sometime in February, 2018, in a similar manner snatched a Taxify Toyota Corolla with the registration number, FST 663 EZ along Badore Road, Ajah at bout 2:00 a.m. after killing its driver.
The suspects had after snatching the Toyota Corolla, sold it to one Mohammed Usman for N350,000:00. Mohammed had only paid N100,000 and was to move the vehicle to Jigawa when RRS Decoy Team arrested him.
According to Simon, an erstwhile security guard turned stylist in Badore “I met my colleague, Lucky Friday in Kirikiri Prison. We became friends and when I was released I gave him the number of my brother for him to call me.
When he was released, I promised him I was going to assist him to resettle properly. Since then, we have been working and operating together”.
“Our first operation was where we killed the driver of the Toyota Corrolla. He was a Taxify driver. I stabbed the guy in the stomach twice and I dropped him off the vehicle on the road in Badore, Ajah at after 2:00 a.m. We threw away the knives and bought new ones for the fresh operation we were arrested for”, he added.
He continued “before killing him, I placed the order to Taxify cab to pick us up at Lambasa, Lekki at past 11:00 p.m. Our destination was Abraham Adesanya Estate but we needed a desolate location to snatch the vehicle from the driver.
Robbers kill a taxify driver and sold his car for N350,000
It was the same business that took me to kirikiri prison. I was introduced into it by Michael. Unfortunately for me, I was arrested while Michael escaped. I spent four months behind bar. It is sad I’m being arrested again over the same business”.
Also arrested along with the suspects were the middle man who introduced the gang to the buyer of the Toyota Corolla, John Thankgod (25) and the buyer of the car, Mohammed Usman (41).
The vehicle was about to be taken to Jigawa State the following day RRS Decoy team arrested the suspects.
Further investigations revealed that the Taxify driver, Godfrey Ovie’s remains was dropped in Badore by the suspects, where it was discovered the following day by the police.
LaudableXX: Guy, what are you saying? The traditional ruler of Ugbodu, is not the Odogwu. It is the Oloza. And his name is Obi Ayo Ochei Isinyemeze.
Secondly, Father which you said is 'Bami' in Olukumi language, also has the same meaning and intonation in standard Yoruba language, if I remember my Yoruba language lessons, correctly. Even the phrase which you quoted here - 'bring pure water come', in Olukumi language/dialect means exactly the same thing in Yoruba - ''mu pure water wa'.
Anyway, let me allow the native Yoruba speakers to give their opinion concerning this issue.
cc: Konquest, Deomelllo, Oodualover, 9jakool
^^^^^ ^^^^^ @LaudableXX I'm just seeing your post because I've been off NL for sometime.
That guy you replied in your post isn't making sense just as you said.
I recall reading about Ugbodu in Aniocha North in the online version of The Nation over 7 years ago and the traditional ruler of Ugbodu who is known as HRH Oloza Ayo Isinyemeze said his people were the first to arrive in that community centuries back when they left Benin and moved to Esan territory. He said they are originally of Yoruba ancestry! There was a time they even took up some Esan/Edoid names in addition to their Yoruba names. All the members of the Royal Family in Ugbodu had Yoruba names.
"Oloza" is a derivative of the Yoruba word Oloja, a chieftaincy title for a market leader/leader of traders. Odogwu is not the title used in Ugbodu. It used to be Obi of Ugbodu but it was replaced with the title Oloza.
Onicha Ugbo is also located in Aniocha North like the Olukunmis and they are very close in terms of location. Dr. Ibe Kachiku is from Onicha Ugbo and he is the Odogwu of Onicha Ugbo. From what I read about Onicha Ugbo, they have Edo and Nri immigration or ancestry as well, with Bini aristocratic titles. I read that "Odogwu" is a derivative of the Benin word "Odogun" which means "head of warriors" which kind of sounds like Olori Ogun [head of warriors] in Yoruba... since "Ogun" means WAR in Yoruba.
Nduka Ugbade, the iconic captain of the 1985 Under-16 Worldcup winning team is an Olukunmi from Ugbodu. A former Miss Nigeria who is now late is also from Ugbodu among several prominent indigenes.
The Ibo influence is as a result of relatively recent acculturation in the Aniocha/Delta North axis. The traditional ruler said this is the reason they are giving their children Yoruba names and also encouraging Yoruba/Olukunmi language contests in the article that I read online.
I read a research by 2 lecturers from Delta State Univ in Ekpoma [one of who has the surname of Mordi] that most communities in Delta North were founded by people from different ethnic groups... from Benin, Esan, Yoruba [Olukunmis], Igalas, Nri migrants, etc. In the PDF documents which you can still download via Google, the research shows that each town in Delta North knows its history. [You can use the search terms: "Origin of Anioma People of Delta North"]. Most of the communities in Delta North were founded by migrants from Benin. A massive DNA test would prove these FACTS in the final analysis.
The people of Delta North respect one another's history...it is some of the ill-informed outsiders from across the east of river Niger that go about saying that entire Delta North is of pure Ibo origin... which is false! One of the ill-informed boys from the S/E posted a FALSE post on one other Website were the charlatan said Olukunmis were "slaves" who were captured by core Ibos which is a pure lie as Olukunmis were NEVER enslave by anybody in Delta North.
Olukunmi war commanders from Eko Efun Town [Eko Efun or "white chalk" in Yoruba, also known as Ukwu Nzu town were also actively involved in the Ekumeku war against the BritishBritish invasion of Delta North.

ELVISHOT: Jaaruma Hauwa Is The Pioneer, Originator, Inventor And Brains Behind The Therapeutic Advantages Of Azanza Garckeana
It is not news that Hauwa Mohammed @jaaruma_empire was the first person to tell the world about the Therapeutic Advantages of Azanza Garckeana also known as Snot Apple, African Chewing Gum, Goron Tula, Tula Kola Nut, in Zimbabwe (Mutohwe), in Botswana (Morojwa), Kenya and Tanzania
Hauwa @jaaruma_empire took Azanza Garckeana, studied it over a period of years, sent it out for trials in 36 states before she finally released it officially to the general public.
People of small villages all over Africa have been consuming this blessed natural fruit for centuries without knowing its various Therapeutic Advantages which includes Remedy for Diabetes, Dryness, Aphrodisiac and so much more.
Although there have books and research on Azanza Garckeana but nobody ever took them seriously until after Hauwa @jaaruma_empire brought it to the lime light and made it what it is today in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. EVEN IF A FEW KNEW ABOUT IT THAT MEANS THEY SELFISHLY HOARDED THE KNOWLEDGE FOR THEMSELVES ONLY AND REFUSED TO SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE WITH THE WORLD
Its good to be inspired by Hauwa @jaaruma_empire but please give credit to whom it's due when you use her work, study, research, pictures, videos and write ups.
This was the first video Hauwa @jaaruma_empire released regarding Azanza Garckeana on 21st February 2016
She then officially released it in April 2017 and that was when it became a big BOOM. Today she successfully made Azanza Garckeana into pill form, Honey Syrup, Candy and Chocolate. Please learn more details in the video below

The Ring of Fire is an area where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur in the basin of the Pacific Ocean. The Ring of Fire is the outcome of plate tectonics rubbing together. Tectonic plates are huge pieces of the Earth’s crust. The plates are constantly moving on top of a layer of molten rock, called the mantle. Sometimes these plates collide, move apart, or slide next to each other. When the tectonic plates clash together, they can create volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.

"Parts Unknown" is a very nice show. I'll be honest though. For several years, I had no real desire to travel out of the U.S. for any reason. I felt satisfied with North America only...but recently have had the urge to experience how other people live across the world.
I have seen a few places where Anthony Bourdain has visited.....and was impressed.
There are certain parts of the world that I would rather visit than others, but I just love how willing he is to just soak in the culture.
Interesting tidbits about Lagos.... Impressive that u speak 3 languages fluently.....u did say "fluently" correct? SO u speak and translate fluently?
P.S. Thanks for the info on the "Slavery" post....over in the Foreign Affairs section. I was gonna say something, but decide it's best to be silent. What I do know is that the effects, of the horrendous century of slavery, are still being felt and is a direct result of the confusion of the Black American race...it's so sad. But the info that was written on that thread doesn't shock or surprise me. It's on my mother's side of the family....virtually every Black American family has European lineage....
^^^^^ ^^^^^ @MsNgo40
I was going to respond to this earlier on, but I had some prior engagements...
OK... one country that I think you would LOVE to visit is Côte d'Ivoire which is a beautiful country located 4 countries to the western part of Nigeria. It is just next to Ghana. The Baoule people and the Akan people of Eastern/Southern Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana are actually of the same ethnicity/ancestry.
I first visited Abidjan in 1988. It is the beautiful former capital of that country and it's also known as the "Paris of Africa", where the drivers obey traffic lights even at night! When I visited originally by air in 1988, from the airport to the "Hotel Ivoire" where I lodged, it was orderliness all the way. The country is French-speaking but some of them speak English because it is taught in schools and tourism is a major source of income aside from being the number 1 cocoa producer and exporter globally!
The music iconic, Michael Jackson actually stayed in the same hotel where I lodged but that was during his first visit in 1987. I have since visited that country since 1988, and it hasn't lost that orderly vibe as of 2018!
Oh yes... I particularly love the episode of "Parts Unknown" by Anthony Bourdain when he visited "Koreatown" in Los Angeles, California. It gave useful insights into the Asian-American subgroups and cultures. There was something distinct about Koreatown from the usual "Chinatowns" around the world. I actually love eating Korean food! You need to see that episode as well if you haven't seen it yet!
About the Foreign Affairs post, I think NOT all African-Americans have European blood. There are immigrants from Jamaica and some majority black Carribean island nations who migrated to the U.S. that have NO mixed African/European ancestries.
Some African-Americans also have Native-American ancestries based on the DNA test results that I've seen since the late 1990s and early 2000s from AfricaAncestry and DNAland.
P.S. Ngozi, have you heard or read about Africatown, near Mobile in Alabama? The last slave ship [schooner] to ever sail into the U.S. in the summer of 1860 from Quidah, Benin [former Dahomey kingdom], Nigeria's next door neighbour to the West. There were Africans of Yoruba, Nupe [Tapa] and a Fon nobleman all from present day Nigeria and Benin Republics on board that slave ship named "Clotilda" totalling 110! Charles Lewis [Pa Oluale] who is in the 1st of 2 pictures that I have attached below was of Yoruba descent, his picture was taken in 1912 and his Yoruba name was Oluale. Some of the 110 were Yoruba traders who were on trading expeditions when they were captured in 1860 and taken to America on the infamous "Clotilda."
Sylviane Diouf wrote the book "Dreams of Africa in Alabama" and had it published in 2007. It detailed out the struggles of those brave young men and women and children who were taken as captives from West Africa in 1860 to Mobile, Alabama. They all eventually settled in Africa town, Alabama after the U.S. Civil War of 1861-1865, and they made attempts to go back to West Africa but they had no funds to do so.
I'll be visiting Africatown, Alabama soon to pay a tribute to the memory of the brave young men and women. You need to read Sylviane A. Diouf's 340-page book to gain useful historical insights into the "triumph of the human spirit."

So it's perhaps not surprising that Chinese officials were keen to show-off the skeleton of Beijing's new mega-airport - Beijing Daxing International Airport this week.
Representatives unveiled the primary structure of its 80billion yuan (£9billion) project on Monday, which boasts 1.6million cubic metres of concrete, 52,000 tonnes of steel and spans 47 square kilometres (18 square miles), including runways.
MsNgo40: Didn't forget about this post my friend... Definitely coming back to speak on this thread tomorrow (Thursday)...well it's already Thursday you guys' time...

Yeah! I speak 3 languages fluently, and 2 other languages are within the learning curve. Being multilingual is good for international travellers and for getting international jobs.

KingSango: Historical evidence that proves “Jesus Christ” never existed and was created by Constantine (Romans) The Council of Nicea
- The Council that created Jesus Christ Unbiased Talk 25 April 2013 The origin of the “Savior” – Later becoming the person worshiped today as Jesus Christ Ptolemy 1 Meryamun Setepenre (c.a. 367-283 B.C.E- Before Common Era) (aka Soter) (“Soter” means savior) became the first European pharaoh of Egypt through military force led by Alexander the Greek (a.k.a Alexander the Great). When Ptolemy became pharaoh of Egypt, he wanted the Egyptians to consecrate him as a god. He wanted to be called a god because that was the title all of the pharaohs of Egypt were called prior to him. However, the people of Egypt refused to call him a god because they knew the only reason he became a pharaoh was through force, so in “305 BC -Ptolemy took the title of Pharaoh, taking the Egyptian name Meryamun Setepenre, which means “Beloved of Amun (Amun means God) Chosen of Ra (Ra means God)”, and because of the Egyptians refusal to acknowledge him as a God, he began killing the people of Egypt, which caused the Egyptian priests at Memphis to give into his request by agreeing to consecrate him to priesthood, in order to save their own lives.
The key words in the above passage to keep in mind during your reading: Meryamun, Setepenre, Soter, which are words that were used to create the fictitious character of JESUS CHRIST in A.D. by Roman Emperor Constantine (Meryamun, Setepenre, Soter were used in B.C.). The images of Ptolemy below, which are similar to the images that are depicted as “Jesus” today, were forced upon the Africans and were ordered to be worshiped by the people of Rome. Let us continue to A.D. Serapis Christus Greco Roman c.a 135 B.C.E. The marble image in the London museum is the image they use of Christ (Jesus) today. Christus was also the nickname for Serapis. What is Serapis? (Origin of JESUS CHRIST) Ptolemy’s rule was to create a deity that would be worshiped by both the Egyptians and the Greeks. He created “Serapis “, the made up Graeco-Egyptian god that was invented in the 3rd century B.C., portrayed as Greek in appearance, but with Egyptian accessories, representing both wealth and resurrection. “Egypt, which you commended to me my dearest Servianus, I have found to be wholly fickle and inconsistent and continually wafted about by every breath of fame. The worshipers of Serapis here are called Christians and those who are devoted to the god Serapis (I find) call themselves Bishops of Christ.” - Hadrian to Servianus 134 A.D. Constantine and Arius Constantine the Greek (a.k.a Constantine the Great) Roman Emperor from 306 to 337, is known for being the first Roman emperor to be converted to Christianity which strangely enough, Arius of Libya (256-356 A.D.) born of African descent centuries after Ptolemy 1, had a problem with the Roman empire teaching the Africans and the people of Rome to worship a statue and celebrating death. He was considered a heretic, a professed believer (of God), who maintains religious opinions contrary to those accepted by his or her church (what the religious authorities usually controlled by government deem as the truth). Because he started attracting so many followers due to his teachings that were contrary to the Romans, Constantine called the council by summoning all the bishops to discredit Arius, The Council of Nicaea. During the time when this meeting was called upon, there was no mention of Jesus Christ at all; no man had ever existed by the name JESUS Christ, and an important fact is that this all took place Anno Domino (A.D.) (which Christians claim means after the death of Christ) in Latin means ‘in the year of the lord’. The name Jesus Christ didn’t exist before the meeting was called (read the statements made during that time frame).
It was only after this that they presented to the people the name JESUS CHRIST. What Lord are they referring to? Kings have always been referred to as Lords or Gods. If Jesus Christ didn’t exist during the time this meeting took place nor ever heard of, whom are people worshiping today? Serapis Christus? Nicean Creed – Jesus Christ is born Nicean creed which became the statement of the Christian faith was written decreed and sanctified by 318 Roman Catholic bishops at the council in 325 A.D. (some believe this transformation took place “Council of Chalcedon” 451 A.D.). “We believe in one God the Father all-powerful of all things both seen and unseen one Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God the only begotten from the father, that is from the substance of the father, god from god, light from light, true god from true god, begotten not made, consubstantial with the father, through whom all things came to be both those in heaven and those in earth for us humans and for out salvation he came down and became incarnate became human suffered and rose up on the third day went up into the heavens is coming to judge the living and the dead and in the holy spirit” - The origin of the Trinity The authorities shut Arius down and threatened him with death to keep his mouth shut. They positioned the creed during the time when people started becoming aware of the lies and deception, and ordered all books to be burned; destroying all ancient writings, “no evidence no argument”, and the outcome was the transformation from Serapis Christus, which means Christ the Savior, to Jesus Christ by edict of Emperor Constantine in 325 A.D. Authors comment Christians, do your research. There may have been a man that walked the earth in the land known as Nazareth that attempted to guide the people back to righteousness, but, this man was not JESUS CHRIST. You see no mention of any man in Nazareth named JESUS mentioned during the meetings in Rome, or of a woman named Mary (the virgin) giving birth to a child named Jesus. This would explain why there is so much emphasis put on JESUS CHRIST in the bible, which further explains why God all of a sudden had to have a “son” (sun of God was turned to the son of God by Europeans, which is why every picture of Jesus has the sun behind his head. (Sun Ra, Sun of Ra (God)). The man you acknowledge as Jesus Christ of Nazareth was born in 4 BC; all of the above took place before that date.
dudebuck: No I beg to differ, He is 100% right. Nigeria was never meant to exist in the first place, that is why you have places like Sabon Gari, it was Naive Azikiwe that brought about this abomination, he was never a politician, he just found himself im company of Hebert Macaulay, who knew what he wanted and the best way to achieve it, but unfortunately he died, then suddenly Zik found himself at the head of the movement, Zik in his naive mind had to accept those who were less qualified than him to head the country, even his statements sometimes betrays his foolishness, ie let us forget our differences and be united, or something of that nature, only for him to be corrected by Aminu Kano that he should not say that, and instead he should say "let us understand our differences". Azikiwe is just a big fool.
^^^^^ ^^^^^ "Let us understand our differences..." ~ Ahmadu Bello
It was Sir Ahmadu Bello that countered Zik's comment... NOT Aminu Kano.
Ahmadu Bello was right on that because globally, it is by understanding our difference instead of forgetting then that we can love and appreciate one another!
Of course, I had to click and click every hyperlink. That's the beauty of Wiki, no?
You can do the same:
Derby's Dose; "The runaway would be beaten, and salt pickle, lime juice, and bird pepper would be rubbed into his or her open wounds. Another slave would defecate into the mouth of the miscreant, who would then be gagged for four to five hours."[1] The punishment was invented by Thomas Thistlewood, a slave overseer and named for the slave, Derby, who was made to undergo this punishment when he was caught eating young sugar cane stalks in the field on May 25 1756.
Thomas Thistlewood. Thistlewood was not an uneducated man. He was a prolific book buyer and reader; he practiced medicine on his slaves and was something of an expert in botany and horticulture. Although Trevor Burnard at one point calls Thistlewood "a brutal sociopath," he generally suggests that Thistlewood's treatment of his slaves was not that unusual. Unlike Landon Carter and other rich eighteenth-century Virginia planters, who often developed a paternalistic attitude toward their slaves, most Jamaican whites were convinced that only the severe application of brute force could keep the numerous African slaves under control.
And it was largely an African slave population, dependent on continual importations from Africa. The rate of mortality was so high and the birth rate so low among the slaves that they could not reproduce themselves. "As a result," writes Burnard, "white Jamaicans bought rather than bred their labor force and were the mainstays of the flourishing British slave trade." In fact, one third of all slaves brought to the New World in British carriers ended up in Jamaica. Such was the death rate that a half-million slaves had to be imported in order to increase the island's slave population by a quarter of a million.
Not only were whites in short supply but their sex ratio was skewed, with 3.1 adult men to one adult woman. Thistlewood never married an Englishwoman but satisfied his quite formidable sexual drive by exploiting the slaves who were all around him. During his thirty-seven years in Jamaica he dutifully entered into his diary his 3,852 acts of rape and/or sexual intercourse with 138 women, nearly all of whom were black slaves.
ellapius: A South African Baker @nandi_cakes, took to his Twitter page, to list reasons why marrying a woman above 30 is a ‘wrong move’.
According to the South African Baker, such women have low fertility and baby with such lady might have downs syndrome. Here’s what he wrote;
Why men shouldn’t marry women over 30 A THREAD
Firstly women over-30 have a lower fertility. If you want to build a family with these old donkeys be prepared to possibly have a downs syndrome child. 2. When you marry a 30+ woman, you’re marrying her 30+ pe*nises she’s had over her long life on earth. She has more bodies than a grave yard.
Women over-30 are very bitter from the wasted prime spent on failed relationships she hoped would lead to marriage. Now that you’re marrying her, she should be grateful, but she’s not. She’s always just angry.
By marrying a woman over 30+ you are investing everything in a rapidly depreciating pleasure provider that has already lost a lot of its aesthetic value… She will be wrinkled in the next 5 years and already having back problems.
Many guys these days are marrying early 30’s women, and then, almost immediately – Bam!. It’s over almost before it began. Its because you are trying to make ancestors housewives. Leave these dinosaurs.
Marrying an over-30 woman is like buying a used car 1Km short of its 120,000km servicing. The over-30 woman can fix herself up enough to fool the prospective provider/hubby for a short while, and once the line that is dotted is signed her true colours come out.
Many women who are not married in their late 30s today never saw it coming. They had a plan: finish their first degree, masters, a job, a promotion, make money, be independent and settle down by 30, latest 32.
Over the years, they turn down potential husbands, go on a partying spree like they have frozen time, only to arrive at 35 with nothing to show for it other than a dead end job, a car, and sometimes a child from a relationship that never quite worked out
So, now they are stuck in a phase where they will never find a man of their dreams and have to settle for any man who will be gracious enough to even suggest marriage. By now, all those flimsy and shallow standards they used to have are gone, humility is their second name.
I have seen many women on Twitter in their 20s buy into the misguided, feminist belief that men & marriage are bad for their academic & career advancement. What feminism does not factor in is that the older a woman get, the less a chance she stands of marrying someone desirable.
This is a fact of life, don’t come here with your Nywe Nywe Nywe misogyny… VOETSEK
Very few men would marry a 35+ woman when we live in a highly hypergamous (act of marrying someone wealthier than you) society. There are plenty of young and hot beautiful women ready to settle into a marriage where they play the second fiddle as long as the man provides.
It is good to be ambitious, even better to break the stupid glass ceilings, but at what price? Bottom line, at some point, you will need a man in your life. My experience of having observed women 30+ has proven that they mostly live a life full of regrets.
Let me share with you from my observations the signs that a woman is likely to end up single, and lonely and stay away from these types!! 1. She values education and career over marriage and relationship. She’s always throwing statements like “Marriage isn’t an achievement”
2. At age 30+ she has more liquor in her refrigerator than fruits and vegetables. 3. She can take down more shots than any of her peers at 30+ who have kids 4. She’s into smoking cigarettes and addicted to weed. 5. Her idea of fun at age 30+ is a night out with the girls.
6. At age 30+ she still insists on only dating men based on what their career is. “He’s a lawyer” “He’s a doctor” “He’s an engineer” 7. The idea of cooking for a man is a total turn-off to her.
8. She has never forgiven her father for abusing her mother, or her first boyfriend used to abuse her and she now thinks every man is violent and controlling. 9. She is so much into fashion, and hair-styling she doesn’t want to be identified as being old in her circles
10. Her job involves a lot of travelling. 11. She can easily find a parking spot at Taboo than her way to church. 12. She believes in absolute equality in marriage without any sacrifice or compromise.
My brother if you find an ancestor over 32+ Love yourself…… run away from these dinosaurs
^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ There are men who find 30+ women to be very mature. It is mainly inexperienced or immature guys who think 30+ women are old cargoes.
The fear of also giving birth to babies with genetic defects has also been taken care of by modern medical science. It might cost you some money... but if you see a 30+ lady who is delectable, don't abandon her because of the fear that she won't be able to give birth!
80% of down's syndrome babies are born to young women below 35 years. So going to a fertility expert to avoid down's syndrome babies is adviceable for all women!
foxychev: Name Availability search is the first step to take when you want to register your business with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), whether it is an enterprise, limited liability company (Ltd or Plc), or a non-profit organization like NGOs or churches.
First let me give you possible reasons why your proposed business name may be rejected at the CAC:
1. Names that are ambiguous or unclear, or confusing. Names that can confuse the public about the nature of your business, or awkward combination of words. E.g. Johnson Enterprises Company; or Johnson Motors and Health Ltd. 2. Use of reserved names like Johnson Chamber of Commerce, or John Department of Agriculture. 3. Use of names that are closely similar to that of existing registered companies with the CAC. For instance, you cannot use a name like "Dangots Sugar Ltd", because you know quite well that there is an existing company called "Dangote Sugar Plc". People can easily confuse those two names together. Well, it is obvious we all know "Dangote Sugar", but there are thousands of registered companies we don't know about, and if we try to reserve a name close to theirs, it will be rejected by CAC.
Here are some tips to assist you in selecting a good business name that flies at the CAC Name Availability Search...
1. Be creative, very creative. Some names are common and can be easily thought of. If you are thinking of using "Amazing Grace Nigeria Ltd", that is an easy name to come by! You can be certain that there will be existing companies having one or both words in their names. Think of unique words. 2. Explore other Languages. For instance, if you are a fan of French or Spanish, or your native language, you can simply translate common words into them. You have a higher chance of getting your name reserved. For instance, you can translate "Red" into "Rouge" (French), or "Colorado" (Spanish). 3. Combine words that are rarely used together. Everyone knows “Amazing Grace” are two words that are used together most of the time. “Abundant Grace” won’t be a good choice either. But if we say something like “Colossal Grace” we stand a better chance. 4. Combine more words (Don’t exceed 5 words!). The reason for this is to reduce the chances of having closely similar words with the names of other companies. For instance, suppose we have “Johnson Nigeria Limited” already registered and we love the name Johnson so much that we don’t want to drop it or interpret it into another language. CAC may reject “Johnson Engineering Ltd”, or “Johnson Electrical Ltd”. But if we have two additional words different from those of the existing one, we can get ours approved. So if we choose “Johnson Engineering Services Ltd”, we will likely get an approval. 5. Specialize your business name Let the nature of your business reflect in the name. E.g. adding suffixes like Engineering, Publishing, Health Services, Business Solutions, Farms, etc. will help you to distinguish your company name from others baring similar names but are into different natures of business, and consequently get an approval. Now, assuming “Johnson Nigeria Limited” and “Johnson Engineering Services Ltd” are registered, and we are into publishing, we can use “Johnson Publishing House Ltd”. It will likely get approved. 6. Google up your intended name. Many businesses are creating online presence via corporate websites, blogs, online business directories, social media pages, etc. If you Google search your proposed name, you might come across an existing company with similar name. This will help you to fine tune yours further. 7. Be flexible, don’t be obsessed with a particular name. I have seen people do like 5 name searches, and still don’t get an approved name. That is like 10 rejected names, since they have two options for each search! Being flexible will allow you to follow advices 1 to 6 above, thereby saving you money, energy and time expended on multiple searches. 8. Visit http://www.cac.gov.ng, go to public search to see if there are companies using similar names.
Note that CAC has the right to approve or reject any name, based on their discretion. But a well thought of, unambiguous name will get you an approval. Finally, seek advice from friends, family and professionals. Don’t be alone. Contributions are welcome, please.
