Captainope: The fact is that tribes emerged on our planet long before any states or governments. A tribe is a group of people with similar ethnicity. They share the same culture and the same language. A tribe is rather similar to a larger size family.
A larger tribe may consist of many families and clans. A smaller one would include tightly related people. They also share same political formation and have their own tribal rulers or kings. Formerly people from one tribe used to share the same land and live in the same villages or cities they have founded.
Presently, tribal people have scattered around the land and even around the globe. For instance, you can find large African Nigerian tribal diaspora in USA, UK, etc. Tribal languages are many. Presently scientists surely know of 1000 of them, but some suggest there are over 2000 of such languages in Africa.
1.Yoruba yoruba tribe nigeria The land: Nigeria, West Africa Population: 45+ million (over 20% of all the population of Nigeria). Language: Yoruba and English Religion: Christianity Yoruba was one of the tribes to greatly contribute to the slave trade. Many Yoruba were sold and brought over to America, Cuba, Brazil and Caribbean region. Interesting enough that many “American” Yoruba preserved the traditions of their motherland. In the past Yoruba tribe was a part of Oyo Empire. This tribe also stands out of the crowd as being one with the most population in the cities. Lots of Yoruba are highly educated people, tech savvy and industrious. The only Nigeria Nobel prize winner Wole Soyinka (poet and play writer) comes from Yoruba tribe.
2.Pedi pedi tribe africa The land: Northern Sotho, South Africa Population: 10 millions Language: Sotho Religion:Phasa – worshiping ancestors and gods Overall presently there are more than 7 million people in South Africa speaking Sotho language. This means the ethnic group is the second largest in this country. In the past the largest part of population of the tribe was involved in herding and farming. Later on many men moved to cities in search of employment. They work as migrant workers. Some Pedi turned to Christianity, but they were persecuted and pressed out of the land. Ndebele Ndebele tribe aimbabwe The land: South Africa, Zimbabwe Population: 2/3 of South Africa population Language: Ndebele Religion:Zion Christian Church The tribe may call itself Manala or Amandebele. It is quite possible that in the past this tribe was a part of a larger Zulu culture, but they broke away following the King Shaka. The total area inhibited by this tribe covers over 400 000 sq. miles. In the past they practiced polygamy, but presently it is almost extinct. Presently it is one of the largest ethnic groups in South Africa.
3.Venda venda tribe The land: Limpopo Province, South Africa Population: 0.9 million Language: Tshivenda and Shona Religion:worshiping ancestors One of the distinctive traits of this tribe is cross cousin marriages. Even though a large portion of population occupies villages, many youths are moving to the larger cities.Amazing, but just little over 40 years ago Venda people were the poorest in their country. However, an educational reform was introduced and the tribe has miraculously gotten transformed. People received free books and schools. Presently, as Yoruba in Nigeria, Venda in South Africa is among the most tech savvy and educated people.The tribe has a large number of famous people.
4. Hausa hausa tribe nigeria The land: Nigeria, West Africa Population: 20 million Language: Hausa, English (Hausa is one of the easiest to learn and widely spoken tribal languages in Western Africa). Religion:Islam Legends state that the origin of Hausa tribe is from Baghdad. They believed the people moved to Africa from that city over 10 centuries ago. Presently this tribe strives for political domination in Nigeria. They have amazing colorful traditional attires and great Hausa music.
5.Pondo pondo tribe africa The land: Eastern Cape, South Africa Population: 8 million Language: isiXhosa Religion:Umdali – one god the creator and ancestors One of the distinctions of the Pondo people is red color. They wear red rugs and cover up their skin with the red clay. That is why in many cases they are referred to as Red people. They are also known in Africa for the Pondo Culture Festival.
6. Swati swati king photo The land: Swaziland and South Africa Population: 700 000 Language: Swati Religion:Christianity Till this day the tribe is ruled by a king. Present day monarch is called Mswati II. Their community is broken into different castes and in many cases people would follow the traditional marriage patterns. maestro2000: Sir, we know with a good credit and a good working and credit history, you can get a house on mortgage and down payment but not this type of house. You can't be projecting a $3000 monthly salary on this type of house. How much do you think it will cost him to pay monthly ( 500,000,000 ÷ 340 = $1,470,588.235 this is just a rough estimate based on third party exchange rate) his monthly payment will be roughly $5k. So if he has a stable job of btw 4k and 5k , he won't still be qualified to take up such house on monthly mortgage plan. The banks or lending house and the credit bureau will never allow such a deal to go through because his monthly take home will be calculated against his spending cost.

It was great seeing Anthony Bourdain's visit to Lagos, Nigeria on CNN. Season 10 Episode 3 was shown on Sunday October 15, 2017.
MsNgo40: "Sexy-looking" soup...lol. I don't think I will ever be able to reconcile "sexy" with food... But the soup was pretty though I may be fighting a losing battle with Nigerians...knowing there wasn't any goat, fish, turkey or or ox tails in it..lol. But I can assure them it was good...my dad liked it. I appreciate your courage to want to try it.
Anyhow, yes...your thread was enlightening....but it just made me a little more nervous that my relatives moved over there, cause I'm learning to say "never say never".
Interesting tidbit about Lagos... I really love the name... Lagos had been featured on CNN on a show called, "Parts Unknown" with Anthony Bourdain.. I have yet to see the episode which aired back in October I think, but my dad watched it and said it was pretty good. I know he's been to South Africa and the Congo...(perhaps Egypt)....
Anyhow, thanks for the info...as I continue my learning.
P.S. I see you know some French...
^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ Ngo... It's interesting that you watch @Bourdain on CNN too. You seem to love adventure as well!
#PartsUnknown @anthonybourdain
Aha!... Anthony Bourdain's "Parts Unknown" is a fantastic and stimulating program on CNN which airs every Sunday. His pictures are attached below on his visit to Lagos, Nigeria which was aired as Season 10 Episode 3 on the 15th of October 2017!
I saw scenes of his visit to Lagos in Season 10 Episode 3 when he came for his foodie/travel adventure. He also visited the 3 children of the world famous Afro-beat music legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti at the New Afrika Shrine. Yeni, Femi, and Seun Kuti are music entrepreneurs as well which was great! The Episode 3 was nicely made.
Just to add... the original Yoruba name of Lagos is Eko. The European explorers knew the "Island of Eko" as "Lagos Island" on their maritime maps... and when British colonialism began in the 1860s, the British simply retained the name Lagos Island. So Lagos and Eko are officially used interchangeably as of today.
Yes, I speak up to 3 languages fluently... and because I'm adventurous, and love to travel for business and leisure, French has to be in the mix. I use a portable voice "language translation device" for communicating in French-speaking countries when I don't have enough vocabularies to use in specific situations!
Last but not least, don't get bothered or nervous about the potential mega-earthquake situation... I think your relatives are fine as of now and they can use this information to create "Plans B or C" in the short-term to medium-term and NOT depend on staying in CA permanently! They can make up their minds based on what they see or read on this thread.
Take care... Je t'aime!
P.S. I love the colourful look of your minestrone dish without meat. People have to get used to eating less red meat or no meat at all because excess red meat causes cancer... especially colon cancer. Plant-based protein substitutes and fresh fish containing Omega-3 and Omega-6 oils are the real health food nirvana. ~~~~~~~ Sat 20 July 2024 [Eric Ita] THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY SOCIALIZATION - INTERVIEW WITH DOG TRAINER ERIC ITA

^^^^^ ^^^^^ There are ostrich farms in Nigeria. They are expensive to acquire initially.
Kaduna and Lagos have ostrich farms. So the ostriches have already been domesticated in Nigeria for meat and egg production just like in Ghana and South Africa.
MsNgo40: Konquest, All I know is (when I logged in earlier this morning...u guys' time), I was able to post (under this moniker) before my ban expired around 2:17 a.m. (you guys' time) this morning....which I am grateful.
Yes....i saw the soup... I'm happy! I just love the colors....it was healthy and tasty. My dad really liked it (cause I made it for him)....and he's picky about food. If I could package it, I surely would send it.
Look at me....i took a thread about a California earthquake...to a thread about vegetable soup and being banned...lol I'm sorry for that sir.... U take care
^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ @MsNgo40
It's alright... But I would feel much better when I get that "sexy-looking Minestrone" via DHL express delivery service.
I hope you really enjoyed reading my thread and videos on the California earthquake situation? I believe your relatives in California are safe for now... but then the projections by Seismologists is that within the next 30 years, the mega-quake leading to parts of California "sinking" as a result of "subduction" could occur. The "Great Lisbon Earthquake" that occurred on the ocean floor of the Atlantic Ocean on the 1st of November, 1755 is a perfect example of a "subduction" which caused massive destruction to Lisbon, Lagos, Faro, and other cities in the Kingdom of Portugal, with accompanying tsunami waves of over 20 feet high, 40 minutes after the first earthquake!
Check the attached images to this post below to see the "subduction zones" and the epicenter of the quake in the Atlantic Ocean close to Europe in 1755!
I had earlier typed the main post... so as to simply enlighten travelers to earthquake-prone areas to take preventive measures and/or learn about emergency situations in earthquake scenarios as well since over 50,000 earthquakes occur annually especially within the "Pacific Ring of Fire" where California and other countries are located!
Just basically looking at the big picture.
Au revoir!
P.S. Just a quick one... Lagos in Western Nigeria was named after Lagos in Southern Portugal by Portuguese explorers who sailed to West Africa about 500 years ago.
MzNgo40: Konquest, Thank u so much for providing that link. I don't know how I missed it cause I certainly tried to search for it. I will definitely look into it... I actually tried to post that soup twice....so maybe my soup is cursed....lol. Oh well....it was a lovely looking soup and very tasty!
^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^ @MzNgo40 @MsNgo40
Alright then...you're welcome Ngo.
Send me some of that "Minestrone Soup" in your kitchen... saw your soup pic on the foodie thread has been restored as well.
I think the anti-spam bot problems we all had while posting pictures and YouTube video links within the last 4 days was as a result of a technical glitch... but thank goodness for the Supermods who always resolve the banning issues quickly within 5 minutes.
kidap: Mimi Orjiekwe Quits Marriage As Husband Charles Billion Impregnates Two Women
Nollywood actress Mimi Orjiekwe has finally confirmed the end of her marriage to actor Charles Billion Pius.
While responding to rumours surrounding her relationship with Charles Billion, Mimi said their marriage crashed few months after it was contracted over infidelity.
According to her, the actor has two baby mamas. Her words:
The couple who got married on the 18th of July 2015 have a beautify daughter named Jasmine.
Nollyzonenews: Actress Mimi Orjiekwe has allegedly asked the family of her estranged husband, Charles Billion Pius, to come forward to collect the bride price they paid for her when they got married in July 2015.
It was in the news lastweek that Charles and a US-based woman who coincidentally is named Mimi, are expecting a son. According to sources close to the couple, Mimi Orjiekwe found out that her husband was expecting another child with another woman here on LIB. She was devastated and when she confronted him, he neither denied nor confirmed the report.
After the story broke on LIB, Mimi asked her father to call Charles's family to come and collect her bride price but up till today October 9th, they have not come to see her family. Mimi has however threatened to go to social media to call them out if they do not come forward to collect the bride price so that their marriage can be dissolved officially.
Before their wedding in 2015, a female police officer informed Mimi that she was pregnant for Charles. He initially denied it but after some time, he accepted the baby girl born by the policewoman. He apologized to Mimi and she accepted him. With this recent development, Mimi has vowed never to take him back and she wants their marriage dissolved asap. They have a six months old daughter named Jasmine.

mendelsmattress: The Chinese motor industry has caused quite the stir with some of its copycat creations in recent years; take a look at the best examples from this year’s show
Chinese motor shows have long been tarred with the copycat brush.
True to form, a disconcerting number of clones taking to the stands alongside their western counterparts at this year’s Shanghai motor show. We’re here to please, so here’s our list of this year’s most flagrant copycats from Shanghai 2017
The Zotye Z700, a near-clone of the premium Audi A6 and previous-generation Volkswagen Passat, has a 1.8-litre turbo petrol engine and uses plenty of ‘new tech’ according to a spokesman, including soft-closing doors, “like BMW”, and a big sunroof.
He said the model is the most luxurious car in the brand’s line-up and is used by government officials. It costs ¥98,000, which equates to just over £11,000 and, funnily enough, is not exported.
The Zotye E200 is an all-electric city car which holds a striking resemblance to the Smart Fortwo model. A Zotye spokesman said it has a 124-mile range when fully charged – a 25% increase on that offered by the Smart Fortwo Electric Drive – and has “performance like Smart”.
He said the model, which is sold in China and also exported to the US, is typically bought by women and younger buyers. Costing around ¥100,000 (£11,300), it is more expensive than its premium saloon sibling, the Z700. However, China offers both central and local government incentives for electric vehicles (EVs), which islikely to bring this price down. Evidently, the issues of EV pricing are a worldwide problem.
This one’s a double whammy; not only does it halfheartedly ape the Jaguar F-Pace’s styling, but it’s got a fetching blue prancing horse badge up front. It’s hardly a surprise; the F-Pace is one of the suavest of SUVs, but the EV is more of a clumsy copycat.
Take a close look to see the Kia-like quad-foglights in the faux lower air intakes, too. 10/10 for unoriginality, 2/10 for execution.
What’s G-Wagen in Chinese? BJ80 PHEV, apparently – it’s just the front grille and wheels that mark the outrageous BAIC model out from its ‘donor car’.
It’s guaranteed that the BAIC (Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co.) version of Mercedes-Benz’s legendary off-roader undercuts the G-Wagen’s £91,145 starting price, but our money would be on the German if the two were to tough it out off-road. Landwind X7 – Range Rover Evoque
It wouldn’t be a Chinese motor show without everybody’s (least) favourite Chinese copy car clone, the Landwind X7.
Landwind had Jaguar Land Rover royally miffed upon the £14,000 Evoque clone’s reveal at the 2015 Guangzhou motor show, but the Chinese government ruled both parties’ patents invalid – both designs had been displayed before a patent application was issued.
They do say imitation is the ultimate form of flattery, but we can’t imagine JLR design boss Ian Callum is too happy.
How can the opulant Rolls Royce be left behind? The Geely GE is the Chinese imitation of the prestigious Rolls Royce Phantom. Geely have taken design copy to an all new level with the GE. So the large grill, the head lamp design & they have even got a copy of the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’. In terms of fire power, where the Roller gets a massive 6.75 liter V12, the Geely makes do with a 3.5 liter V6. But i guess that would do, since its only the looks that would attract you to something like this.
MzNgo40: Hi Konquest, This is Ngozi (MsNgo40) I'm sorry for de-railing your thread....but I am compelled to do this. Yes, unfortunately I had to get an alternate account.....which I will only use if I am "banned".
I'm a little puzzled as to why I have again been banned for 3 days! I was banned for 3 days a day or two ago in the Food Section. I posted a picture of a "Vegetable Minestrone Soup"...which has no poison or hazardous chemicals in it. I used no "foul or obscene language"...nor did I insult, abuse or malign" any other poster. I certainly didn't post any "nude " pics with my soup. I was only sharing a recipe I had made. I'm coming to you since you had so graciously offered me help back in December 2017...if I had any problems. I have searched the site looking for ways to "mail" the Supermods. I have tried to email the lovely ladies in the Food section...because interestingly enough, I've been banned before..... But no response.... For some reason I keep getting "banned" in that section? I have been banned only 1 time since I joined this site back in December 2016....and it was in the family section. I quickly emailed the moderator...and he unbanned me...which I thoroughly appreciated. That also was an "Anti-spam bot". I don't know if I have offended someone...but I would like to have an answer for "why" a ban occurs... If you could provide me with some information on how to contact the "Supermods" about this issue, I would love and thoroughly appreciate it. Thanks a million. I really like this website...regardless of some challenges I have experienced with my "people", however I don't want to be "turned off" because of unwarranted "bans". If I'm guilty, that's one thing....but when I'm innocent, I think it's appropriate to say so...regardless of the consequence.
^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^ I also got banned unusually today...4 times. It has never happened to me before in one single day!

I learnt about Professor Enwonwu in school, I know Professor Onobrakpeya personally and I was also taught about Yusuf Grillo, but the person that fascinated me the most was Twins 77, probably because of all the myths and wonderful stories surrounding him.
^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ @Naptu2
Thanks for the Web link on Ben Enwonwu and the painting "Tutu." . Oh...great! So you know Dr.Bruce Onobrakpeya personally? The man is an iconic art guru. Despite the fact that he hasn't passed on yet, his abstract paintings and other art works usually fetch him a 7-figure income in Naira!
I was viewing Channels TV ART HOUSE online and references were made to Dr. Bruce Onobrakpeya's works below:
I had an A2 in Art in my final exams in secondary school... although I was a science student because I'm visual and have a great love for art and music as well.
We used a text book written by Professor Solomon Irein Wangboje entitled "Art for Secondary Schools." Perhaps that is the art text book you used in school as well.
The Zaria Art school masters were: Yusuf Grillo, Bruce Onobrakpeya, Solomon Irein Wagboje [a native of Sabon-Gida Ora, Edo State], etc.
Twins 77's afro-centric works are fantastic [mythical-wise] just as you've said.
LaudableXX: With all due respect Boss, erm... it appears you didn't quite get the point I was trying to make. I have nothing against the VAIDS Scheme. I am only against the naming and shaming part of it. Why? Experience shows that the fat cats or the rich Nigerians often escape the net, while only the poor or the average man, is the one who ends up getting caught up in the whole 'naming, shaming and prosecuting' scandal.
Secondly, Ambode is just increasing fees and charges arbitrarily in order to pay for different things in Lagos. I am yet to see the financial discipline or management, he has brought to bear on the state. He hiked toll gate fees, increased land survey charges and arbitrarily jacked up Land Use Charges/Rates! His peculiar brand of 'financial management' looks like extortion to me! I know someone who paid 78,000 last year as Land Use Charge (LUC), but has now been billed 361,000 naira this year, as LUC!
The benefits that accrue from having petrochemical industries, are well known world wide. But my reservations have to do with the fact that successive governments in Nigeria, have shown that they are incapable of managing industrial businesses successfully. All govt should do, is to provide an enabling or conducive environment to investors, entrepreneurs and industrialists, and then offer some guarantees and tax breaks to the organised private sector, so that they can set up such petrochemical plants.
I agree that Eleme petrochemicals is an old plant, but long before it became old, how well was it run by govt officials?
^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ OK... I get where you're coming from now about the impending name-and-shame strategy.
Let's see how it all pans out... but I'm in support of people getting punished for evading taxes of all kinds because you cannot have a few people paying taxes on behalf of a larger number of Nigerians who evade paying taxes. Naming and shaming is an effective tool on a global scale for deterring people from committing infractions.
I agree... government has NO business in business!
Gov. Ambode should make sure he doesn't strain the citizens too much financially. The LUC increment in Lagos is too high from that of 2017.
Yeah... thanks for your fresh perspectives in your post on this thread.
LaudableXX: I have a lot of respect for your views, so I will try to make this as brief as possible. First, I disagree with this move of govt, because there is nothing 'nice' or 'brilliant' about it. If they go ahead with this plan, it would turn into a media circus, drama, gossip and hype will have a field day, then the frenzy will die down after a while, and business will proceed as usual. The poor man will be prosecuted, but the fat cats will get away. We see it happening all the time.
The question that govt should be asking is "why don't Nigerians pay taxes?" Another question they should ask is "what is the number of businesses that close down their operations, every year in Nigeria?" They should also find out the number of unemployed people, and those who are retrenched or prematurely retired nationwide, annually. These figures are equally as important as the number of those who earn an income, but do not pay taxes.
For every company that closes down and throws its staff into the unemployment market, there is a loss of actual or potential source of taxes. For every staff that is retrenched or retired, again that leads to another loss of taxes that could have been obtained from such individuals. For every MSME that goes bankrupt or suffers losses or shuts down, again the loss of taxes from such enterprises, would constitute a setback to govt's drive, for tax collection.
Many MSME enterprises provide their own power, water, security and even roads in some cases, which makes their cost of operations really high. On top of that, they suffer the stress of multiple taxation from state, local and federal govt levels. So how are they expected to cope? As if that is not enough, the tax officials then show up at their doorstep from local, state and govt level demanding for everything from radio & TV license, to signboard levy, as well as environmental and education tax. By the end of the day, they are slammed with a huge figure, which makes no sense, and they then have to start going up and down to protest the arbitrary charges. In a few cases, their business premises get sealed up.
Data on those working and earning a living in the informal sector is not well captured, at any level of govt. The artisan, hawker, foodstuff seller, tailor, mechanic, site worker etc, is extorted by 'council' officials who charge a fee per day as a form of tax, from people in these sectors. Do such funds end up in the coffers of the govt? No. It goes into private pockets or ends up in the hands of corrupt local govt officials. To the worker in the informal sector, he has paid a form of 'tax.' he would even show you a 'receipt' of some sort, when you ask him. But to the federal and state govt agencies (i.e. FIRS and LIRS) he is just a tax dodger. And that is where the problem lies!
When it comes to diversification, govt knows what to do but lacks the will, direction and determination to do it. Setting up petrochemical plants is not a new topic in this country. There are several papers and workshops that have been held on it. Ever heard of Eleme Petrochemicals? Kindly do some research on this firm. Eleme Petrochemical Limited (IEPL), located in Port Harcourt, used to be a govt-owned subsidiary. It was badly run by govt officials, before it ended up being sold.
You get to hear of high-sounding projects and at the end of the day, the govt says they do not have money to execute it, or that money was paid out and the project got stalled midway. Why? The answer lies in between the committees, that usually get set up to investigate such cases. But no tangible results are recorded, after they have made their recommendations. A few months or years later, you get to hear that this same money that govt claimed it did not have, was actually stolen from its coffers by its own govt staff, or public officials in high places.So who is fooling whom?
^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ @LaudableXX
Hope you're doing great?
I read your post twice to properly digest your thoughts...and they are in order.
Now the VAIDS program is actually like an amnesty or grace period given to those wealthy Nigerians and/or foreigners who have a lot of property abroad and are NOT paying taxes on them. KEMI ADEOSUN did emphasise that the Western countries are sharing...the details of Nigerians with property abroad but who haven't been paying tax for years!
So you can see that it is the RICH who have been making tax underpayments or dodging tax completely. This is already changing as a lot of them are coming forward to take advantage of the VAIDS program so that they do not get penalized... and there will be NO extension after 31st of March, 2018!
Some lower/medium/high income earners are the ones who have been bearing the tax burden for the REST of Nigerians... who also haven't been paying taxes over the years!
I must comment Gov. Akin Ambode of Lagos for bringing a new financial management culture into Lagos and the results of the taxes are showing in leaps!
If the government is able to fix power and rails for instance, it would boost the GDP of Nigeria.
Last but not least... China makes a whopping $3 Trillion yearly from the petrochemical industries!
China has no oil and gas so they have to import CLPG from countries around the world that are gas producers.
The same thing too applies to India that makes more money than Nigeria makes from exporting only crude oil annually which amounts to about $20 billion annually and this shows that the oil industry is smaller than that of China and India which makes about $300 billion annually from petrochemicals and we are NOT yet talking of taxes collected from citizens of their countries!
Eleme Petrochemicals Plant in Rivers is very old and needs a major turnaround maintenance to work efficiently. So we need new ones that are owned by the private sector in the major oil and gas states... just like in China, India, and the U.S.
naptu2: Ben Enwonwu's "African Dancers" Sold To Bidder At Lagos Auction Event.
Bonhams auction house sold several expensive pieces of African art yesterday in London and the star of the show was Tutu, a painting by Professor Ben Enwonwu.
However, Bonhams also had an event at the Wheatbaker Hotel, 4 Onitolo Road, Ikoyi in Lagos where guests watched a live stream of the event and could also bid for items that were on sale. Several of the items, including "African Dancers" by Professor Enwonwu, were bought by guests in Lagos.
^^^^^^ ^^^^^^ Ben Enwonwu also created the statue of Sango... the Yoruba God of thunder that the old electricity company NEPA had in front of their headquarters at Marina, Lagos Island.
It is not surprisingly that the painting of Tutu which has links with Ile-Ife has fetched such at a high price in U.S. dollars!
I learned about Prof. Ben Enwonwu while in secondary school...an FGC in Nigeria years back during our fine arts classes. We even had fine arts text books then and also learned about the great Prof. Bruce Onabrakpeya who is still alive and painting even as an elderly man. He has an art studio in the Papa-Ajao Mushin axis of Lagos State.
This is the reason why I'm an art lover/art collector, especially sculptures in my house. I love abstract paintings that force you to think.
I wonder if the kids in schools today are still taught about these art icons?

VAIDSNG: The Federal Government is ready to prosecute, name and shame tax evaders that fail to utilise the tax amnesty programme, the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS), to regularise their tax profiles, the Honourable Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, declared on Thursday.
She also disclosed that the Federal Government would strictly adhere to the confidentiality of the Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information in Tax Matters, in line with the guidelines of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The Minister made this known at the VAIDS Stakeholders Symposium held at the Umaru Shehu Yar’Adua Centre, Murtala Square, in Kaduna State.
The sensitisation programme was attended by the Executive Governor of the State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai; Accountant General of the Federation, Alhaji Idris Ahmed; Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mr. Babatunde Fowler; members of the State Executive Council, captains of industries and business owners.
Adeosun stated that the Federal Government had the political will to prosecute tax evaders once the tax amnesty programme was over by March 31, 2018.
She said, “The Federal Government has the political will and data to go after tax evaders who fail to take advantage of the tax amnesty programme. Many Nigerians cannot explain their lifestyles or match their lifestyles, assets and income with their tax payment.
“We will close VAIDS at the expiration of the programme on March 31, 2018. And once the programme is closed, we will name and shame and also prosecute tax evaders.”
On data sharing with foreign countries, the Minister noted that the information sourced would strictly be used for tax purposes.
“The guideline requires that the automatic exchange of financial account information must be specifically designed with residence jurisdictions’ tax compliance in mind rather than be a by-product of domestic reporting for it to be effective,” she said.
She added that the automatic exchange of information had become necessary to combat tax evasion and protect the integrity of tax systems.
The VAIDS, according to her, has been strengthened by the data on financial accounts, property and trusts shared by other countries.
She advised offshore asset owners to utilise the VAIDS window to regularise their taxes before the end of the amnesty programme.
“The offshore tax shelter system is basically over. Those who have hidden money overseas are being exposed and whilst Nigerians can legally keep their money anywhere in the world, they must first pay any taxes due to the Nigerian Government so that we can fund the needs of the masses and create jobs and wealth for our people,” she urged.
The Kaduna State Governor, who disclosed that he declared his assets in 2017, commended the collaboration between the Federal and State Governments on tax.
He pledged to provide land ownership data to tax authorities at the Federal and State level, as part of measures to bring more income earners and asset owners into the tax net.
The Governor assured that the revenue from taxes would be judiciously used in improving the lives of residents of the State through investment in infrastructure, primary health an education.
The FIRS Executive Chairman reinforced the need for Nigerians to join hands with the Federal and State Governments to improve the standard of living through compliance with tax payment.
^^^^^ ^^^^^ This is a brilliant move since Nigeria has one of the lowest tax compliance rates in the world of 6%!
You can't try to evade annual tax payments in the U.S., UK, or Canada for instance!
Nigeria under this government is performing well in this area... but they need to do more by diversifying the oil and gas industry by building more petrochemical plants so that gas which is the primary material for the petrochemicals can further boost the Nigerian economy... and make life easy for the citizens especially the low-income earners! Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Ondo, and Lagos States should have at least 2 petrochemical plants for instance.
Rensource, a Lagos-based renewable energy startup, has raised $3.5 million in bridge financing to expand its business. This is coming nearly 2 years after a previous seed round of $1.1m in 2016.
This new round is led by Mauritius-based Amaya Capital Partners, with participation from Omidyar Network and Pule Taukobong‘s CRE Venture Capital, which previously led Andela’s $40m Series C round. Interestingly, CRE Venture Capital participated in the original seed round for Rensource.
Founded in 2015 by Ademola Adesina and Jussi Savukoski, Rensource is hinged on a core belief that distributed power generation will be a critical element in solving the power problem in Nigeria.
Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency agrees. According to her, “Nigerians spend about $14 billion annually on inefficient power generation. Off-grid alternatives like creating mini grid and solar home systems can easily be at $9.2 billion a year, which will save the Nigerian public and citizens $4.2 billion.”
In March 2017, Rensource introduced a tiered subscription-based business model that enabled customers pay to use energy, rather than own the infrastructure. The idea was to provide affordable renewable energy on a ‘Power-as-a-Service’ (PaaS) basis.
The new capital injection will primarily go into expanding operations to Kano and Abuja. There are also plans to capture the B2B market with a ‘Powered by Rensource’ offering that will enable Nigerian businesses to leverage its infrastructure.
“This investment further affirms the growing consensus that renewables-based distributed energy generation — taking power to the people — is the future of Nigeria’s power industry,” says Anu Adasolum, General Manager of Rensource. “Rensource is uniquely placed to lead this charge. We’re excited to welcome Amaya Capital and the Omidyar Network on this journey and are proud to be enabling Nigerians’ power independence”.
Going by the nature of the investment (bridge financing), it probably is not far-fetched to expect a huge Series A funding round in the coming months, should Rensource deliver quickly on its short-term goals.

symbianDON: what a waste....Ghanaian armed robbers no get joy o...65yrs
^^^^ ^^^^ The armed robbers might not be Ghanaians! A lot of Nigerians have been arrested for violent armed robberies and killings in Ghana... most especially of Ibo origin. You can check online for these facts or from Ghana Police official records. These are verifiable FACTS... I just say things the way they are.
Some of the kidnapping-for-ransom CRIMINAL gangs have also used Ghana as a stop over base for hiding and enjoying their loot from Nigeria.
But with Interpol's help, they were busted. Very embarrasing indeed!
The first luxury bus highway robbery in Ghana in the early 2000s was carried out by some criminal gangs from the SE of Nigeria.
UncleSnr: Mercedes Benz Logo It’s not just a logo it consists of a simple deception of a three-pointed star that it represents its domination of the land, sea and air. As its vehicles run in all the three environments. It was registered as a trademark, and one year on it was taken as the logo for cars For over a century Mercedes’s three-pointed star encircled into an orbit masterminds conservatism, reliability, first-class performance and breakthrough engineering.
The first edition of the logo, the word “Mercedes” surrounded by an ellipse, appeared on cars manufactured by Daimler, its predecessor, in 1902. After a while, the company introduced a new brand logo in 1909 — the glorious star of three points. Technical Director of Deutz, Gottlieb Daimler, designed it. He drew this badge on a postcard, which he mailed to his wife as far back as in 1872, vowing that one day this image would become the symbol of a car giant.
The emblem was put into a circle with four little stars above the circumscription “Mercedes” on its bordure in 1916.
In 1926, after the merging of Benz and Daimler, which resulted in the inception of a new German automobile brand– Mercedes-Benz, the actual trademark was finally developed. It is a star of three pikes embosomed with a bordering with laureate wreath and the brand name on it, which still designates Mercedes cars. Since then the logo has experienced insignificant amendments, the bordering of laurel wreath morphed into an unpretentious circle. https://i0.wp.com/res.cloudinary.com/unclesnr/image/upload/v1519840610/main-qimg-89f519a597c40c2665f2c1b9e7650f63-c.jpg?resize=2048%2C1536&ssl=1
However, the life journey of the brand started in 1926, when Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft merged with Benz & Cie, thus competition turned into a partnership, and the brand of Mercedes-Benz was born. It took its name after the daughter of an Austrian car-seller and racer Emil Jellinek.
By the end of the 1960s, the brand gained the worldwide recognition. In 1973, Mercedes-Benz was subjected to a test, as due to the oil crisis car sales keenly went down. But in response to such a situation the producer succeeded in the designing of the most reliable model series in the history of the brand — W123.
At the beginning of the 1980s, the company enters a new niche — the market of off-highway trucks, with its offroader Gelandewagen, which earned fame for its all-terrain and reliability. In 1999 another groundbreaking event for Mercedes took place: it bought AMG that had been its official tuning company. That permitted them to produce luxury modifications of some Mercedes series and to produce their own racing car — Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR.
This car manufacturer keeps producing flagship models of cars, tirelessly improving its advanced technology and stylish outside appearance, as “The Best or Nothing” is its slogan. This unrivalled miracle worker rules the world of automobile manufacturing turning the heads of other car makers and setting the high standard for them.
Do you want to know the meaning of the stars point? Have a look below.

Mercedes-Benz manufactures automobiles, parts and accessories for use on Land, Sea and Air. The Mercedes logo is as timeless and beautiful as its brand and machines.
olorijiblo: THESE WEIRD THINGS REALLY HAPPENED AT WEDDINGS IN NIGERIA? SAVE ME LORD!
Today, my radar is on Eketi Edima Ette‘s wall. She decided to share the weird things she has encountered at weddings she attended and I cannot stop this laughter. Read below biko:
Another Saturday came and went two days ago.How many of you attended a wedding?Did anything funny or weird happen?In fact, what’s the funniest, weirdest or silliest thing you’ve ever seen at a wedding?
Let me go first.
Wedding 1: The groom’s sister demanded that one of the bridesmaid’s picking money should hand over all the money that was being sprayed to her. The bridesmaid refused, as she was under strict instructions not to do so. Right there on the dance floor, the groom’s sister slapped the bridesmaid and dragged the bag of money from her.I was the bridesmaid that was slapped. Chai!
Wedding 2: After the wedding, as we were taking pictures, the bride and groom got into a heated argument. The mother of the groom wanted to follow the couple to their new home. The bride objected, saying it was their wedding night, for them alone. The groom said she had no right or authority to object, that his mother was coming home, as they had a lot to gist about. I later heard that the groom and his mother spent the wedding night together, on the same bed, while his wife slept in the guest room. The marriage ended after 2 years.
Wedding 3: At the reception, the chief bridesmaid was giving her toast. She said, “I’m so happy to witness this wedding today. The couple are my friends and I was there from the beginning of the relationship. They are a good example of the fact that having sex on the first date doesn’t mean that man won’t marry you. They met at So-and-so Club and went home together that day. And today, we’re celebrating their wedding.” You could’ve heard a pin drop in that hall.
Wedding 4:At the church, the pastor asked us all to stand, as the bride was about to march in. We all stood. Then there was a commotion at the back of the church. The bride had changed her mind. She said she wasn’t matching in again, that she was under a lot of pressure and was about to make a grave mistake. No amount of begging changed her mind o. That’s how the wedding was cancelled and we went home without eating party Jollof.
It doesn’t end there my dear Elsians. Of course, her Friends and followers started sharing their own experience and I died more. See the ones I could grab below.
Please add your own below in the comment section. All ye wedding attenders….
queensera: In a recent interview, Nigerian controversial blogger and journalist "Kemi olunloyo" reveal that pastor "Adeboye" and "Oyedepe" are drug dealers before they invested in church business.
When the interviewer ask kemi Olunloyo if her father (Omololu Olunloyo) is a ritualist like she claimed.
She said:
Yes, my father is a ritualist, he always goes to "herbalist" when he was a politician but he has gave his life to Christ. She further disclosed that she knows some other politicians that are ritualist too.
^^^^^ ^^^^^ This interview on TVC is partly distasteful! How can Kemi insinuate that her very brilliant UK-educated father and former Governor of old Oyo state during the 2nd Republic was a "ritualist?"
If he visited a herbalist, does that make him a "ritualist?" according to the U.S. and Canadian-educated mother of 3 children who are 31, 27, and 11.
A herbalist is someone who treats people with HERBS! Herbalists also exist in the U.S., UK, China, etc.
This is a man who scored the highest grades in the entire UK while in the university on Western Nigeria scholarship and whose coaching service was immediately hired by a member of British nobility for his child who didn't understand Calculus/mathematics? Omololu Olunloyo's brilliant feat was widely reported in the British and Nigerian media in the 1950s!
Surely Kemi has to learn to guard her utterances so people do NOT misinterprete her comments!
Jada may be known as Jada Pollock these days, but she used to be known as Jada Styles. This was the name she even gave her image consulting and style business in London. She is said to be 34 years old and a graduate from University of Westminster. 2. Brand consultant and manager to the stars

Before Jada began working with Wizkid, she had already built a career as a brand manager and image consultant. According to several sources, Jada has worked with several footballers including Didier Drogba and both of them even opened a boutique in London together. 3. Working with Akon’s brother, Chris Brown and others

Known for the wealth of contacts she has, Jada at some point joined Akon’s brother Bu Thiam in his Bu Vision, LLC – a mgt firm representing/managing some of the big names in international music scene such as Chris Brown & Pia Mia. She was their day to day manager. 4. Part of the Wizkid managing trio https://madailygist.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/vllkyt28a5u1hao6q.ae6c1ff0-1.jpg

Wizkid has three managers he works with. Dumi Oburota of Disturbing London, Sunday Are in Nigeria and Jada. The latter is reported to have started working with Wizzy between 2014/2015. She is said to have had a hand in helping Wizkid score his features with superstar Drake. 5. Boss woman who drives a Maserati https://madailygist.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/vllkyt775jdbo37fk.e8a0bec5-1.jpg
Several inside sources said Wizzy and Jada’s relationship turned amorous shortly after both started working together. This led to Jada getting pregnant around Valentine’s day in 2017. Even though he wasn’t really keen on the relationship, he had to accept the baby after she forced his hand by posting a photo of the child on Snapchat.
I've just sent you another message. Added some left behind new attachments.
All the best!
~~~~~ ~~~~~ 20 Aug 2022 — Get her fixated on chasing you; make her fall in love with you; and turn her into your girlfriend or wife. I call these “The Four Horsemen
Miss You Method #1: Preemptive Strikes As soon as you start dating a woman, you want to preemptively do things that are going to make a woman miss you in the future.
Rob Judge and I refer to this as creating EMOTIONAL TIME CAPSULES.
I’ll give you a very simple example.
Our sense of smell is connected to our memory. So, one of the things I always tell guys is, “Have a cologne that you wear every time you’re with a woman.”
Choose a brand that’s popular, but not so popular that every guy wears it. But popular enough to where she may smell it elsewhere when she’s away from you. Because that’s exactly what you want her to do.
When she’s out and she smells it, it’s instinctive. She’s going to remember you as soon she smells it.
We’ve all been there, where we smell a perfume and, I mean, there’s perfumes I can smell that transport me back to 20 years ago to a girl that I remember who used to wear that perfume.
Other preemptive strikes include:
Create inside jokes with a girl. Build your own little world with her, full of unique ways of talking about specific things. Get her opening up to you about things she hasn’t revealed to other people. If she tells you things she hasn’t talked about with other people, she will find herself missing you whenever she thinks about that subject.
You must use these techniques upfront. And sometimes it’s too late. Sometimes you can’t go back in time and do these.
So get started as soon as you finish reading this article.
If you still have contact with a girl, maybe she broke up with you but you still see her at times, start wearing a new cologne right away. It could still work.
But you got to be conscious of this with all women you meet.
And I have an article called The Triangle of Attraction, where I talk about the three things you should be doing in every conversation, that will create these EMOTIONAL TIME CAPSULES, and you can find that article elsewhere on this site.
And I have an article called The Triangle of Attraction, where I talk about the three things you should be doing in every conversation, that will create these EMOTIONAL TIME CAPSULES, and you can find that article elsewhere on this site.
Miss You Method #2: Leave on a High Note Let’s imagine that a girl was dating you but then pulled away. Or maybe it’s an ex-girlfriend that you haven’t talked to in a while.
Let’s say she reaches out to you. Or you text her and she responds positively.
Maybe she even says, “Hey, let’s meet for coffee.”
One of the problems that guys run into is they overstay their welcome.
Be conscious to leave on a high note. Remember, you want her associating good times, good feelings with you.
If you’re hanging out with her, and things are going really well, you’re tempted to say, “Let me stay longer so I can make it even better.”
But eventually what happens is, it’s like you’re climbing over a hill with her. You’re climbing up one side of the hill, creating this tension and she’s getting more and more interested.
But at the top of the hill, you need to end the interaction. Have a helicopter pick you up right there from the top. Because if you keep going in the interaction, there’s only one direction to go from the top of a hill.
Downhill.
If you stay in the interaction too long, you start going down the other side of the hill. She’ll fall back into feeling complacent about you.
The more time you actually spend with her, the more likely you are to start letting your neediness seep out.
You start saying things like, “Why can’t we give this another chance?”
You start doing things that put a lot of pressure on her.
The good vibe disappears.
To counter that, just leave on a high note. Plan how long you’re going to stay. Always be the one to end it.
Even if she reaches out to you and she’s like, “How’s your day? How was your birthday?”
A lot of times they’ll use a birthday or holiday as an excuse to reach out. Don’t fall into the temptation to be completely available right away. Talk for a minute, then end the conversation while it’s still going well. That way in her mind, she wants more rather than getting her fix.
Very simple, but very easy to mess up. Leave on a high note.
What Causes a Woman to “Chase” a Man If there is a girl right now that you’ve got your eye on, and would just love to have her naked on your bed, let me share with you some of the big ideas that we discovered.
These are ideas you can use to:
Get her fixated on chasing you make her fall in love with you and turn her into your girlfriend or wife I call these “The Four Horsemen of the Chase”.
What you’re going to find is that they fly in the face of commonly held beliefs about what girls want and are probably the exact opposite of what you do.
Chase Trigger #1: Uncertainty We discovered with girls, the more uncertain she was about where she stood with a guy, the more likely she is to chase him.
Girls are actually turned on by:
Confusion Uncertainty Mystery.
She wants to spend time analyzing your behavior. She wants to have to read between the lines.
In fact, the more time she spends decoding what you do and say with her friends, asking things like, “What did he mean when he?” the more attracted to you she is becoming, and the more obsessed she gets with sleeping with you.
Chase Trigger #2: Drama Second, we discovered that being the perfect guy is destructive and can quickly murder her attraction.
Weird, right?
But as guys, we like things calm and content. Our idea of a great relationship is we have everything in common, or we never fight, or we get along perfectly.
But girls are an entirely different beast. Girls crave “drama” and “emotional turbulence.”
Think about it like this.
If a movie were two hours long of positive things happening to the main character, you’d be throwing popcorn at the screen you were so bored.
That’s why “nice guys” lose the girls they really like.
If you never disappoint or upset her, the movie becomes “predictable” and “boring.”
Why do you think girls obsess over jerks?
The drama these guys provide is addicting as crack. She gets to feel like she’s the star of her own personal soap opera.
In just a second, I’ll show you a simple way to do this without changing your personality, without acting like an asshole, and without pretending to be someone you’re not, so keep reading.
See Also How to Make Her Think About You Non-Stop 3 Ways to Re-gain the “Upper Hand” with a Girl How to Be the “Romantic Challenge” That Keeps Her Chasing.
Chase Trigger #3: Investment Third, we stuck a dagger in the heart of the notion that girls want you to work to win her over.
What we discovered is that the person who tries harder holds less power.
Remember, when she is holding the power, it’s impossible for her to chase you.
You might think that showing a girl you’re funny enough, charming enough, social enough will make her want to be your girlfriend.
But it’s ten times more effective to flip the switch and get her working to impress you.
The minute she lets her sexy side out, tries to show you she’s a cool girl, or catches herself worried about what you think about her, it’s like you flipped her “chase switch”.
She no longer hides her naughty side. She stops playing hard to get. Before long, she’s down on her knees begging to be your girlfriend.
Yes. Even that good girl you’re imagining using it on, she’ll fall for it the fastest.
It’s like her brain is subconsciously going, “I must really like this guy.”
Even if she didn’t like you initially, you can actually turn the tables.
Chase Trigger #4: Anticipation Finally, Rob and I discovered our core principle of anticipation.
What we found is her desire for you peaks when she’s away from you, thinking about you, when she begins to desperately anticipate the next time she’ll see or hear from you.
As a guy, when we sense things are going good, we’re afraid to “pull back” a bit.
But if you retreat and leave her wanting more, she actually convinces herself that you’re the only guy she wants to sleep with.
Using our principle of anticipation, you can actually train a girl to get addicted to your phone calls, your dates, and your body.
Here’s something really cool…
You don’t even have to already be dating a girl to use this stuff on her.
In fact, I’m going to show you how within five minutes of meeting her, you can jump start the chase. I’ll get to that in a second.
Summing Up “Chase Triggers” What we found was that in order to rapidly and easily have a girl on your bed, whispering how bad she wants you, you need to do just four things:
1. You’ve got to get her analyzing your behavior and unleash an intense curiosity in her to try to figure you out.
2. You need to create an emotional rollercoaster that holds her attention hostage.
3. You need to flip her approval seeking switch and get her addicted to your validation.
4. You have to retreat long enough for her to develop a strong desire to see or hear from you again. You want her waiting for your phone calls, pulling her phone out of her pocket every few minutes to see if she missed your text, craving a compliment from you like a glass of water in the desert. ______________________________ [The NUMBER ONE WAY to Make A Woman Chase You] “This” Makes Her Chase You EVERY TIME
