Thespecialist:
Hi All,
Wanted to share this to help anyone looking to give birth in Canada make an informed decision cos knowledge is power!

A relation of mine came over late last year and had her baby at Oshawa and we found out that the child delivery charges are a fraction(less than half) of what the charges are in Toronto( where she delivered her previous babies)

Below is a breakdown of charges for child birth @ Oshawa

Doctors(obgyn) fee...$1600 (irrespective of c-section or natural delivery, and provided delivery is without complications)
Ante natal check up...$72.50/visit
Blood tests...$51.20
Ultrasound...$175.40

In Toronto Doctors fee is $3500 (this is the charge as of three years ago for complication-free delivery and does not include ante natal visits, blood tests, ultrasound)

Hospital fee is $2500/night...this is same across Ontario (of which Toronto and Oshawa are part of)

Hope this info helps in making informed decision...

“With this visit, we have seen ranching at its best and would be bringing farmers from Denmark to Oyo State for ‘Knowledge Transfer’ that will enhance our local beef output in the local and international market.”

"The ranching method used by many countries like Denmark is a viable option."

"This visit to Denmark possible options to resolve the problem of Herdsmen- farmers clash amongst other things."

The Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has said his visit to Denmark was to enable him and his team find possible solutions for the resolution of farmers/herders clash in Nigeria.

Brilliant... the integration of ranching with dairy business
is the BEST. This project should be for the income
generation of Oyo State. Oyo has the biggest landmass
in southern Nigeria followed by Cross River State
so the opportunities for agribusiness should be
fully maximised!

Oyo state led by Gov. Abiola Ajimobi should have
started this earlier in his first-term in office. There is
good money to be made from dairy business using
hybrid cows that can produce from 18-25 litres per
cow per day. Those Fulani Bororo cows only produce
1 litre daily... but money can still be made from
that as seen from what WAMCO is doing in Oyo
state... buying from Fulani and Yoruba small-holder
dairy farmers! smiley

I read that Ondo State too has reactivated the
old ranch in the Akoko area of the state by
signing an M.O.U on February 13, 2018.

In a world first, U.K. researchers have successfully grown barley crops autonomously using self-driving tractors and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The goal of this research project was to ascertain if hands-free farming was possible at this juncture in the world of autonomous machinery.

In order to ensure the project’s integrity, no one was allowed to enter the 1-hectare paddock, except for the autonomous vehicles. Ultimately, the venture was successful with crops autonomously seeded, sprayed, monitored, and harvested.

The researchers considers the success a sign of things to come such as a general shift in the agricultural industry regarding technology, in addition to potentially attracting a new generation to farming.

“We have been able to show the public that this is something that isn’t too far ahead in the future, and it could be happening now".

“It has also allowed us to raise the perception of agriculture to the public, so they see it as a forward-thinking industry and something that might attract new people to the industry.”

Regarding the UAV implementation here, the drones were exclusively used to monitor crops and retrieve samples which agronomists would analyze.

They were essentially the eyes of the researchers for assessing the field using a multi-spectral camera to get imagery from the field. They would then send a little ground rover that would collect samples to conduct agronomy on.

The drone’s autopilot was also used for machinery on the ground, automating the tractors and chaser bins.

Using Nigeria as an example ,do you think new technologies like this get people out of jobs or create new ones?

Behold, The Fastest Bulletproof Vehicle In The World Is Born!

Indeed, the Tesla Model S P100D is the fastest bulletproof car in the world today.

This speed-on-wheel is the product of the collaboration between Tesla and the world-renowned maker of bulletproof and amoured vehicles – International Amouring Corporation.

The Tesla Model S P100D comes well equipped to offer both ballistic protection for its passenfer and to speed away from potentially dangerous situations.

In order to achieve its high-speed capacity, the armored car was made without so much weight on it for it to carry around.

The Tesla Model S P100D was made with only 550 pounds of bulletproofing added, which is just 11% of the weight of the unamoured version.

The armored Tesla was built to offer protection from powerful handguns and rifles.

The car was ordered for and built for a particular businessman in the Middle East.

There's no logic in california sinking into the ocean. California will never sink into the ocean . that was a ploy to reduce California's population and discourage people from moving there.

When last did you hear of an earthquake in California? You know how many devastating earthquakes Japan alone has had since Northridge earthquake? You know how many earthquakes Mexico has had? what about the devastating one in Chile last month and the one in Syria and Iran. Did those sink in the ocean too?
As we speak there's a 7.5 magnitude earthquake in Papua New Guinea right now
^^^^^
^^^^^
@ModalSoul1

You're absolutely right about the
frequency of the earthquakes in the
different locations that you talked about.
One took place about 2 weeks ago in Taiwan
as well that led to the lose of lives.

California presents a different picture though
because it is located along the "Pacific Ring of Fire"
otherwise known as "Circum-Pacific Belt"

where you have a combination of intense
VOLCANIC and MASSIVE EARTHQUAKE activities
around the countries that are located along the
shores of the Pacific Ocean. I've done a lot of
studies since the early 1990s on the San
Andreas Fault line which is visible to the
eyes unlike other Fault lines that are NOT
visible but located beneath the earth.

I thought of the conspiracy theory too just
like you... I felt they just wanted to depopulate
California and the beautiful cities located
in California like San Francisco, San Diego,
etc. There is more evidence if you watch
the videos that I attached to my first post
on this thread that a major subduction
will take place within the next 30 years
that could lead to the SINKING of parts
of California. It is what it is... but my main
purpose of setting up this thread is to just
let residents and travelers to be more
aware of these facts when going to high
earthquake-prone areas, and to take
precautions in case of any eventuality.

The U.S. State Department regularly issues
travel advisories/warnings to all U.S. citizens around
the world on country-specific political tensions,
terrorist activities, etc. So putting this out
in the public domain is in order!

-looking at the Nigerian map, i think some towns should be merged to form mega cities with one administrator.
Now this may seem far fetched base on the Nigerian outlook at the moment ,but compared with North American cities you would see that a city like Los Angels or Seattle is as large as the landmass comprising Port harcourt ,Akwa ibom, calabar, imo state and Abia state. Tokyo is also av ery large city

the google time estimate from Port harcourt to calabar is 4 hours. and that's with the bad roads. With good road network it would be less than 3 hours.
in my personal opinion, looking from a capitalist lenses ,not a tribal or ethnicity based lense , I think Port harcourt ,Akwa ibom, calabar and Abia state should merge into one mega city?

Lagos ,Ibadan, ondo etc. should merge into one mega city .
^^^^^^
^^^^^^
@ModalSoul1

What you have posted here is the ideal
but YOU need to realise as an American-born
with an Akwa Ibom State father... that these
locations you mentioned belong to people
or Nigerians of different ethnicities with
different languages spoken. The states
are NOT homogeneous or monolithic
in culture and this is the reason why
some folks here initially thought you
were an Internet troll... or that you were
lying about youself because your megacity
proposal was a bit skeewed or disjointed.

I checked your posts and my instincts
told me that you're an American just like
you indicated and this is why you got into
mistakenly merging States, and towns
with one another in the "utopian"
Megacity!

You CANNOT merge Port Harcourt and
Calabar which are both cities/state
capitals without merging other towns and
villages of Rivers and Cross River States
into the megacity project. Check the map
of Nigeria to see what I'm saying!

1. Akwa Ibom State is Ibibio, Annang and Efik-speaking. The capital is Uyo.

2. Calabar is the capital of Cross River
State and one of the
towns within Cross River. Efik, Efut, Qua,
Ejegham or Ekoi are some of the ethnicities
in Cross River.

3. Portharcourt is the Capital of Rivers State
with several ethnic groups as well! Kalabaris,
Ikwerres, etc, are some of the ethnicities.

4. Abia State is an Ibo-speaking state.
Aba and Umuahi are two of the most
prominent towns in Abia State.

Economic integration can only be done from
individual States collaborating with themselves
on a regional basis, while maintaining their
cultural and political identities.

Nigeria is NOT like the U.S. for instance
where immigrants migrated from other
countries of the world, and can claim to
be from any state in the U.S after proper
naturalisation! It isn't so in Nigeria.

Last but not least, it is ONLY Lagos State
and Ogun State that might be able to
merge and form one megacity since right
now, many parts of Lagos and Ogun States
have merged at the border areas... and the two
States are ethnically homogeneous and
of the same Yoruba ethnicity/sub-ethnicities.

The 5 Ibo-speaking states of the South-East
can also merge hypothetically speaking.
Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia States
being near-homogeneous, although there are
some ethnic Igala communities in Anambra
and Enugu States.

These 5 states are roughly of the SAME
size with 1 state in the South-West Region
called Oyo State [Capital is Ibadan].
Oyo State is the BIGGEST State in Southern
Nigeria!

I hope this helps! smiley

All the best!

My advice to Mr Fela Durotoye ;

Sir, you stand a better chance of winning a sit at the Lagos State House of Assembly than getting Nigerians to vote you in as their President.

Considering the fact that there is an unofficial arrangement to let power remain in the north till 2023, after which the South Easterners are hoping to take their turn in Aso Rock.

Chief Gani Fawehinmi, Rev.Chris Okotie, Prof.Pat Utomi and Dele Momodu , these men with a better national appeal than Mr. Durotoye have at one time or the other put their hat in the Presidency ring , but none ever came close to getting 300,000 votes.

Not even Rev.Chris Okotie who ran 3 consecutive times ( 2003,2007 and 2011).

Let me take a detour into the political voyage of another celerity whose political arithmetic yielded results.

Honourable Desmond Olusola [not Olawale] Elliot leveraged on his Nollywood induced fame to ride into Political success.
He didn't bother to waste his time, resources and energy contesting the Presidential, Gubernatorial or the Senatorial offices.

He was strategic in his choice of office, he concentrated his efforts in that geographical space known as his constituency, by running for a sit at the Lagos State House of Assembly

Today, he is learning the ropes and climbing the Nigeria political ladder as he ably represents Surulere constituency at the Lagos state House of Assembly where he is touching the lives of Nigerians.

If he so wishes, he is well positioned now to give Abuja politics a trial by running for either the Senate or Federal house of Reps. From that strategic position, he stands a better chance to go the whole nine yards.

Imagine a Senate or house of Reps occupied by the likes of Mr Durotoye, Prof. Pat Utomi, Olisa Agbakoba, Dele Momodu, Chris Okotie, Tunde Bakare, Fola Adeola , Festus Keyamo and other young Nigerians.

Rather, they all want to be President.

Its not too late in the day for Mr Durotoye to reposition himself for maximum political impact.

This applies to all the young aspirants who have never held a public office and wants to become the President overnight.

I do not think it works that way.

Nevertheless, never say never, something drastic might force Nigerians to look in Mr Durotoye's direction, who knows?
^^^^^^

His Full Names:

Desmond Elliot's father is an indigene

I like the fact that you used the word "globally".

It is important to know that this "unemployment wahala" does not only apply to the UK alone. In the US, it's common knowledge that alot of home grads in non-STEM courses (popularly called oyinbo courses) struggle much more than STEM grads to get job. Same applies to Canada. I live in Canada and see the same thing here. Infact, some alot of high school grad are now choosing to learn a trade instead of taking out loans to pay expensive school fees at unis and colleges.

If home students despite their advantages (family connections, local knowledge and citizenship) go through so much hardship to land a job, how much more international students that do not have these advantages?

I have met oyinbo grads of social sciences, arts, humanities or business courses struggling to pay off their student debt by working at walmart and the likes, yet you would see companies recruiting engineering/maths students who are not even Canadians straight from uni.

It is important for prospective students thinking of travelling out to be aware of how things work in developed countries.

Colleges and Universities manipulate their grad employment data everywhere in the world. The UK universities are not exceptions. Government and private educational funding are becoming scarce; hence, student enrolment keeps them in "business" and they are also in competition with each other. It is left for the student to critically look and make good meaning out of the data universities post on their websites. e.g "90% grad employment on a university website" could mean 60% of the grads work in Walmart and Tesco as cashiers or stockers, 20% work at Mcdonalds as crew members, 5% work at ma and pa's business and the remaining 5% actually work in a profession related to the course they studied at uni.

A word is enough for the wise.

I know of a white woman who has a Ph.D

So she had to retrain as a long-haul truck driver

So...just like we have business cycles,
economic cycles, and product cycles...
we also have JOB CYCLES! It shouldn't
take any oyinbo man to tell any smart
person this fact. The job market has
changed in the 21st century and this

to here!

Some guys have to just resign themselves

from an ABRUPT subsidence [SINKING] of

Tidal waves as high as 11 metres or 35 feet

Dear All,

It is with a deep sense of responsibility and awareness I am writing you this article today.

For years we have been going to schools in the UK and other parts of the EU. In the past, up to around 2009/2010, we used to get opportunities to stay back in the UK in particular and get job opportunities but in the last 7 to 8 years this has not been the case.
Now as soon as you graduate from your university, you are expected to get out of the UK.

Please bear in mind that as international students, you PAY MORE to get the same education as your UK and EU counterparts but you DO NOT get the same employment opportunities.
The UK will rather employ someone from the EU (or has an EU country passport) who cannot speak even 4.0 IELTS level of english and 4 months working experience, than employ you who has 5 to 7 years working experience with a 7.5 to 8.5IELTS level of english.
They know that the situation in Nigeria is getting worse by the day with the joke that we have as leaders, especially in the aspect of employment.
Some people will say be innovative, be an entrepreneur; my people, please do not allow motivational speakers deceive you. Entrepreneurship is difficult. It is not as glamorous as instagram makes it look. Also, entrepreneurship is NOT for everybody. Many people need real jobs!
Please ask yourself the following;
- Why are you really going to school in the UK?
- Why are you paying higher amounts of money to get an education which does not give you the same employment opportunities as your counterparts?
- Is marrying a UK/EU citizen because of papers worth it?
- Is it really worth it to stay back in the UK illegally?
- Why are you making the UK richer by driving up the value of the pound against the Naira by paying schools fees and visa fees in pounds?
- Why can’t those schools have accounts in Nigeria and you pay all the necessary fees in Naira?

Once upon a time the Naira was more valuable than the pound. My people, Think!!!
Nigerians are excluded from so many life changing opportunities for African youth such as the ALL BAR NONE scholarship, the DFID scholarships, the Barclays Rising Eagles programme (and Barclays has a branch in Lagos) etc.

I totally understand your need to migrate from the horrible economic and employment situation but I would advise you all to look at countries that use the point-based system and actually value your education or work experience in their country.

As a Nigerian, you cannot receive money in your Naira account through PAYPAL but you are encouraged to spend/buy using the same PAYPAL. If you can sell on Ebay, you can make money from home by selling things to people all over the world. We need a wakeup call.

Just so you know, I have personal experience living and working in the UK. To date, it has not given me any employment anywhere.

Even if you have parents that were legally British, because you were not born there in the UK, the Home office is not just going to hand you nationality. No. My country people please understand the UK DOES NOT WANT YOU...

I hope that this write up can dissuade many of you to look away from the UK or the EU.
Leave them alone.
^^^^^^^^
^^^^^^^^
Well said... brilliant!

In the last 8 years now, I have read of more
young Nigerians who spent up to N5 million
or more to study in the UK... up to the Masters
level with nothing to show for it!

It would have been better to invest the
millions of Naira in businesses that would bring in
returns and are in demand with increasing
global population.

Think agribusiness, Uber/Taxify investments,
etc.

The UK doesn't owe you anything as a foreign
student/national... ONLY YOU can determine
your path to short-term and long-term
success.

The fear of repeating what happened on my trip to the suspended Lake in Ado Awaye made me wake up as early as 4:30am even though I barely slept throughout the night, I bathed and left with my bag already stuffed with my most important travelling items.

https://i0.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/20180203_074001.jpg?resize=768%2C627
What else?

The goal was simple: get to the bus park before 6am and Leave Lagos with the very first bus destined for Ekiti. So I dashed off to Sabo bus stop, joined a bus (N150) to Ojota, where I was fortunate enough to be the fourth passenger aboard the 14-seater bus. This gave me the golden opportunity of choosing a befitting seat in the middle row just by the window. I gladly paid the required N2,500 to the bus conductor and didn’t bother about the departure time.

Departure and Arrival
Since leaving the park by 8:12am, the bus stopped only on two occasions, first was at a gas station to refuel and the second was when a woman behind me threatened that she’d poo in the bus if the driver didn’t stop for her. I remained rooted to my seat since one of the rules I learnt which worked wonders was to never eat anything until I’m half way into the journey.

https://i0.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/20180203_013541-1.jpg?resize=768%2C576
The journey lasted for approximately 6 hours and everything was alright except for the uncomfortable bus seats

Abenimenu Hotel: watery first impression 2:15PM
On alighting at Aramoko junction, about 10 bikers raced towards me. You’d think feed just poured into a catfish pond. Each with the goal of carrying the newly arrived Lagos prince. I spent about 5 seconds enjoying the moment before I finally decided on going with David because he was the most responsibly dressed.

“Take me to a Hotel”, I said as soon as I hopped on his bike. And like he already knew my intentions, he sped off without uttering a word. Whilst on transit, I asked if he knew where the popular Ikogosi warm and cold spring was, and he started a story of how he had been there more than any other biker in town. Whether or not he was lying wasn’t my concern. I punched his number on my phone on getting to the hotel’s gate, gave him N100 instead of the N150 he had initially requested as I made my way to the reception, he kicked his bike back to life and disappeared into the thick fog.

“I can’t stay here”. I muttered to myself as Tola (not the real name of the daughter of the hotel owner who also doubled as the hotel attendant) gave me a tour around the one storey building where the family also lived.

Me : when will you ‘on’ gen?

Tola: 7pm and we will off it by 10pm.

Me: ‘issorite.’

https://i2.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/20180202_134016-1.jpg?resize=768%2C432
My phone’s camera actually made this a bit appealing.

“Please come and take me elsewhere”, I blurted over the phone to David as soon as I stepped outside the gate. He must have sensed my trouble judging by the speed he arrived with. He didn’t ask me further questions.

He Took Me Straight To Agbadaoje

https://i2.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/20180203_082147.jpg?resize=768%2C432

A night at Agbadaoje guest house (where I waited for Damola, my supposed host on this trip) costs N3,000. The rooms contained just the most basic of needs. A good bed, Fan, working table and a clean toilet, all of which the previous hotel lacked. The most important feature was that Unlike Abenimenu, they’d power the generator by 6pm and run it all through the night.

I had squatted with Damola from my 2nd to 4th year in school and I hadn’t seen him since I last hosted him in my hood. I let out a soft smile when his call came in few seconds after I had settled, so it wasn’t difficult for David to return in time to take us to Ikogosi.

At Ikogosi Warm and Cold Spring
The road which leads to Ikogosi from Aramoko was so smooth that we got tired of the ride. The more defiant the bike was at getting us to our destination, the fiercer wind forced tears out of my eyes. Shrubs of trees wiped our legs at every bend. David too didn’t disappoint as he did all he could to make us believe Fayose is the best thing to happen to Nigeria after Jollof rice.

https://i0.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/20180202_164753.jpg?resize=768%2C432
This road leads to Ikogosi

We finally arrived at Ikogosi by 3:20pm.

“A lot of planning must have gone into the construction of this edifice”, I thought within me as we ventured into the first gate. We soon got to the main entrance where the ticketing room sat confidently in front of the reception. We were billed to pay N500 each by a woman who seemed to be enjoying her job but we negotiated N1,000 for the three of us and she agreed.

We were left to our fate (as soon as payment was made) to venture into this forest alone without any guide. I asked if there were no tour guides available and the response was that they don’t come on Fridays. I became numb.

A few other persons were ahead of us so we followed suit along a wooden walkway as the flows from the spring in a calm manner made their way joyously beneath the bridge, emitting an uncoordinated string of sharp whispers in the process. One could see what was beneath the waters.

https://i0.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/DSC_1863.jpg?resize=768%2C512
The uniqueness of Ikogosi lies in the fact that each of the two separate springs (cold and warm) still maintained its thermal properties until their meeting at a confluence with . Research suggested that the warm spring has a temperature of about 70oC at the source and 37oC at the confluence.

https://i2.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/arinta5.jpg?resize=768%2C512

https://i1.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/arinta4.jpg?resize=768%2C512

Save for the awesome road network leading to Ikogosi from Aramoko and how stunned I was on feeling the flow from both streams, I actually didn’t find the destination all that interesting. There was no form of adventure in Ikogosi Unlike the perilous climb at Erin Ijesha or the unending trek down the point of no return in the coast of Badagry.

Side Attractions
There exists a mini store where food and drinks are sold and there’s also a swimming pool right in front of the bar for those who fancy swimming and drinking.

The Mini store

The pool

Since my mission was just to witness yet another Nigerian Tourist attraction, I wasted no time in summoning my team for a few more pictures before eventually leaving for Arinta Waterfall, which was just about 15 minutes ride away. The time was almost 4:00pm.

Arinta Waterfall
At Arinta, we met no living thing (ok, I think we saw two butterflies mating at the gate) at the entrance because the place was locked. But we can’t afford to travel this far without accomplishing our aim, so we decided to take an alternative route just by the right side of the gate since the premises wasn’t fenced round. This was following Damola’s suggestion. though David was a little hesitant, but he later agreed to go with us.

https://i2.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/20180202_164954.jpg?resize=768%2C432

Things became a bit scarier as I was made to lead the team. Afterall it was my course.

David

Before going back to the hotel, David suggested we made a brief detour to a sacred river where it was rumoured that the fishes never died. It is said that whoever catches them for food is only deceiving himself because these fishes will never get cooked, no matter how angry the fire is.

He as well advised we go with bread as that’s what the fishes love so we bought N100 bread and fed it to them before leaving.

https://i2.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Arinta8.jpg?resize=768%2C512
Damola and his newly found friends

We decided it was ideal that we went in search of food so David wasted no time in suggesting a restaurant run by Ajala, a man I guess would be in his early 30s. I opted for a portion of pounded yam, Damola said he’d be fine with Ofada and David seemed cool with jollof rice. I handed Ajala N1,050 for the food, which was N350 for each person including the takeaway packs. Accompanied with a bottle of Origin, the pounded yam and goat meat arrived their respective destinations unhurt.

https://i0.wp.com/www.nomadicnegro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/arinta10.jpg?resize=768%2C432
Ekiti is truly the home of pounded yam

I handed David N2,500 for all his troubles and he promised to come back the following day to pick me when I was ready to go to Ondo.

I don’t know what I was discussing with Damola before I fell asleep but I woke up by 11:56pm for the toilet. As I emptied my bowel. I suspected that the vegetable I took with the pounded yam were the culprit. I wrote a bit about my day and read a few pages from my book before sleeping again by 2:00am, waking up 4 hours later to prepare for my final trip in South West Nigeria to Ondo.

I’m actually thinking this trip wasn’t that fun due to my robust expectations. Have you been to any of these places before? kindly share your experience using the comment section.

Nice post with lucid pictures!
I love to travel for leisure and
business so I'll love to visit
Ikogosi before 2018 ends.

That thick pounded yam
and Orijin! grin

I heard that Ekiti people can
eat pounded yam 3 times
a day without side-effects
...Is it true?

I've been to Ikogosi twice
in the late 1990s/early 2000s... and
I must say that the pictures in this
post show a far better upgrade
of the chalets and the swimming
pool area. More can still be done
and former governor Kayode
Fayemi did a GREAT thing by
bringing the South African
tourism specialists to upgrade
Ikogosi to what it is and if he
had stayed on as a governor,
Ikogosi would have been better
managed since it was one of his
legacy projects!

THE isoko people are people of Niger Delta who are located In Delta state and some part of Bayelsa state, I once created a thread about the Urhobo speaking People of Bayelsa. https://www.nairaland.com/2289624/meet-ofoni-people-bayelsa-only

Isokoland is a key centre of Nigeria's crude oil and natural gas production with a population of about 1.5 million, making the Urhobo / Isoko population to be 5 Million.

The Isoko language is a branch of the Urhobo language, though unique in it's way. The isoko people shares similar culture and believe with the Urhobos.

Anibeze is an Isoko speaking community in Constituency III, Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa State. It settles along the Forcados River, on lower Niger River.

Their closest neighbours are Patani in Delta State and Adagbabiri community in the same Sagbama local government, Bayelsa State.

The people’s main occupation is farming, with some fishing too. The community can be accessed through the River or motor bike from the East/West Road.

https://vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/road-a.jpg

Plight of the Anibeze People

For the people of this riverside settlement whose very existence like several others in the predominantly riverine state is now hanging in the balance on account of the devastating erosion caused by the tempestuous River Forcados, a tributary of the magnificent River Niger, this certainly is not the best of times.

As the people go through the motions of daily life, the troubled look in many eyes betray layers of unspoken fears and uncertainty. Nobody is sure whose house would be the next to be swallowed in this predominantly farming and fishing settlement by the river.

Sadly, the people no longer have enough land to farm due to the devastating coastal erosion which has eroded about 70 per cent of its landmass. Also fishing which the people could have relied on for survival has suffered tremendous neglect due to the precarious situation in the community where families are constantly relocating due to the erosion menace which has swept away several buildings.

Hmm. Even if na gold. Lol
I have an idea of the post but I can't remember everything. I'll try my best
1. Read the thread. Knowledge is the root source of confidence
2. Take charge of the interview. Find a way to take attention toward your strength. Take for example, if you have traveled to say Ghana, let it show that that travel was for a purpose egs
"yes, I traveled in 2017 to Ghana for my annual vacation to see the scene outside Nigeria"- in my ultimo opinion it shows you like vacationing
Or " yes, for a conference on.... ". This would be useful if you are going for a conference.

Now you may not have travel history. And your strength is in your job tie. Your answer could turn the interview toward that. For example
" No I haven't been able to travel. My job as the manager of ABC hotels has not allowed me. But I have groomed someone that can temp while I am away"
Shows a sort of structure in the office and responsibilities on your part.
NB: don't cram the above. These are mere examples. Find what works for your circumstance.

For me. After I was refused for no travel history and as a single gal, my circumstances changed. I answered like this
Q: Why is your husband not traveling with u?
A: Because we just came back from the UK and he cant take more time off work
Q: (body language loosened. Went thru my passport) oh you have traveled...
The interview could have ended without the fellow asking me if I had travelled. I could have also answered that my husband was busy only. But I made sure to use that opportunity to steer the interview to my strength.

Finally look smart and nice. Don't overdo. Mimic the body language of the interviewer. Smile if he smiles. Be merely pleasant if he isn't. Don't form Phonèy. Don't mumble. Accept any outcome. God has a plan for you either way

In recent times, there have been controversies about popular American movie Black Panther which was said to have allegedly added top Nollywood stars, Funke Akindele-Bello and Genevieve Nnaji.

However, none of these actresses came out to confirm if there were truly on the set of the movie or not but Nigerians made their research and came out with screenshots of where their names were spotted.

At the moment the movie Black Panther is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The movie, which has gathered a movement, is the first all-black feature cast and director movie and has been embraced by the black community as a big break for the black community.

According to Guardian, they came up with a list of five talented Nigerians in the movie Black Panther. The list consists of only one woman.

1. SOPE ALUKO:
https://madailygist.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Screen-Shot-2018-02-10-at-7.30.26-AM.png
Talk talent and Sope Aluko takes a good spot. The Nigerian-born mother of two speaks four languages including her native language, Yoruba. She has acted in The Good Lie, 96 minutes and Identity Thief. She plays the role of Shaman in Black Panther movie.

He is a registered nurse and studied the Eric Morris Process of Acting. He has acted in several films and television series including Zoo and MacGyver. He is a Border Tribesman (uncredited) in the Black Panther movie.

3. DAVID OPEGBEMI:

Yes, am among the pure blood Hausas whose ancestors resisted Islam under pain of death from Danfodio and Ahmadu Bello's Islamasition movements. This resistance was passed from one generation to another with the aim of preserving the original Hausa Culture and Traditions.

I see the middle belt as the key to the liberation of the Hausa land because the Hausas are way too comfortable with their gradual disappearance. Hausas with my kind of opinion are too few and weak to effect the corrections but an alliance with a united Middle belt can get the job done. This is because even if the Middle belt region should liberate itself, so long as the Sokoto sultanate and their puppet Amirs remain, the victory remains halfway. Full victory requires total undoing of Dan Fodio's mess. Hausa Kings (Haɓe) are better than the Amirs any day. The Middle belt region has power beyond what I can say but they are too divided, that is why the Fulanis will try to decimate them ASAP before another Kwararrafa emerges that is sure to address the current nonsense. Wake up Middle belt, Unite under one banner, set your cause and correct history's mistakes.

2) Yes, there are rumours that Murtala's father was a Birom man from Plateau who converted to islam and relocated. No credible sources has confirmed any of this especially from his own immediate family.
Some rumours also claim Murtala's father is from Auchi, Edo state. His mother is actually proven to be from there, but that of his father being from Edo has not been proven.

3) Kwararafa (led by the Jukuns) was once a great kingdom which conquered parts of Hausa land. Kano was once under Jukun control. So, many Kano people have jukun ancestry.
So, I don't know if the Yakassai were of the older Jukun settlements in Kano, or were later migrants.

Kano (as well as the entire Hausaland) and Bauchi are places that accept anyone as long as you have a pure islamic/hausa name, you are a muslim and you speak Hausa language fluently.
Ibrahim Shekarau (former governor of Kano) was ancestrally a Bura man from Borno.
Sabo Bakin Zuwo (former governor of Kano) was of Nupe origin from Bida.

I have relatives from Plateau state who have indigeneship certificates for Kano, Bauchi & Katsina and even receive yearly bursary embursements in school. Just because they are muslims.

4) IBB & Abdulsalami. are both most likely of Hausa-fulani origin (from Sokoto state). But maternally, they are of gbagyi origin.

Niger state was together with Sokoto, Zamfara & Kebbi as one state for some time, and many Hausa fulanis migrated into Niger areas.
Infact, this migration has began long before now.

Most Niger state indigenes know this, but because many of them are muslims, they say nothing about it (in the name of islamic bond).
Niger state has for long been heavily infiltrated by Hausa fulanis through intermarriage.

@Nowenuse

Alright, thanks for adding some meat to
this post... and answering on behalf of
@Sasalite.

I actually didn't see this post in my mentions
but I'm just noticing it.

Yes I found the details of General Murtala Mohammed's Berom father in my organizer
as published on Page 10 of THE SUN, March 29, 2003, and the journalist who covered the story
was Mariam Aleshinloye Agboola in Jos.

The article was entitled: "Murtala Mohammed Is
A Birom Man"

A gentleman called Bitrus Bot(Zak), the oldest
surviving cousin of Gen. Murtala was
interviewed by THE SUN. General Murtala was the son of PAM ZATU, a Birom
man from DOGON GABAS in Chigwe District
in Jos South LGA.

Dogon Gabas is a small hamlet in JOS SOUTH
LGA.

Pam Zatu [Gen Murtala's father] converted to
Islam in the same Dogon Gabas where he originally comes from, and which was frowned upon according to
Birom customs and traditions. So he had to
leave Dogon Gabas for Kano after the
conversion to Islam.

General Murtala Mohammed confessed to
a soldier in his battalion, by the name
"DAMU DUNG SHONG DUNG" that he was
a Plateau man but he NEVER got to visit
before he was assassinated by IRONICALLY
another Plateau man [Bukar Dimka] in 1976!

Yes Alh. Sabo Bakin Zuwo's parents were of Nupe origin.

Alhaji Tanko Yakasai's parents are
Jukun as well... first generation Jukuns who
migrated to Kano.

I saw the live TV interview of the former
Old Kano State governor Alh. Sabo Bakin Zuwo in the
early 1980s [1983] saying that Kano has the following as MINERALS: Coca Cola,
Fanta, Mirinda, Sprite... when he was asked what MINERAL resources Kano has
by the TV reporter! grin

I heard that business mogul Isiaku Rabiu
is from Auchi, and that Senetor Rabiu Kwankwaso has a Yoruba origin. I was told
by a man who still lives in Kano. I don't know
how true this is... But I've read online about
the Yarabawan Funtua [Funtua Yorubas]
who have lived in Funtua for over 60 years
and fully settled into the community as merchants/traders
and in other vocations.

It's amazing that your said Ibrahim Shekarau
the former Kano governor is a Bura man from
Borno State. The picture is getting CLEARER
NOW to me that the people who seem to
have held high positions in Kano are not
originally Kano natives!

I wonder if Gov. Ganduje too is originally from
Kano or is the child of a settler in the non-indigene Muslim Quarters of Fagge in Kano
City?

Last but not least, it's good to know that you're
from Plateau State. While at the FGC for my
high school decades back, I had the fortune
of having friends from all over Nigeria... and
I had classmates from Langtang, Jos, Southern
Kaduna, Southern Borno, and more. Great friends
they all were!

Thanks again for you brilliant
responses to all my questions and
do have a GREAT year ahead! smiley

My POE experience was at JFK Airport January 2016.

I came in through Emirates and the landing was a bit rough was on queue for like 20 mins before they took an arab guy in front of me for secondary questioning. I was called and this was the following conversation/interview.

CBP: Good evening can I have your passport?
Me: Good evening (While giving him my Naija passport)
CBP: Why did you come to U.S
Me: I came for a Conference in Atlanta
CBP: Oh okay .. Did you come with anything you will like to declare?
Me: No I came with just one hand luggage.
CBP: Did you come alone?
Me: No I came with 2 of my colleague
CBP: I see, I will be stamping your passport for entry into the United States Of America.
Me: Thank you

That was all.. I submitted my I-90 paper and stepped into the arrival hall of JFK Airport into the freezing night. grin

Olu317:
What is more important is the awareness so that people can start relocating before being caught up in the earthquake mess. This is what's lacking in developing nations. I sincerely hope Nigeria will learn quickly and be well abreast with earthquake challenges
^^^^^
^^^^^
@Olu317

I agree with you there! smiley

For a place l like California that has the likelihood
of SINKING as a result of a MAJOR earthquake
into the Pacific ocean, it is so easy for people
to get carried away by the "sexy" buildings
and skylines... and even pretty women in Cali, but
as far back as the 1980s, I can remember reading that some smart organisations and
people with foresight had started relocating
to other parts of the U.S.

So it is good for business and leisure travellers to be aware of the
high risk earthquake zones and be prepared
for any eventualities.

The Western part of Nigeria is within a seismic
faultline and this is responsible for some
earth tremors which have occurred in Abeokuta,
Saki, Ibadan, Ijebu-Ode, etc. Saki town in Oyo
State, Kaduna and Bayelsa States experienced
earth tremors last year on a higher, never-before-seen intensity.

Accra in Ghana too has experienced several earth tremors in the past because it is located
along a faultline..

Fortunately Nigeria does NOT have earthquakes
yet, but it could occur because of increased
global seismic activities.

Cheers!
