[b]M-16, the capital of Nigeria chosen by the British was Lagos Island in 1906 and NOT Lagos State. Lagos Island is less than 1 % of the total landmass of Lagos state which was formed by Gowon on May 27, 1967 along with 12 other new states. The Ijaw nationalist from Bonny Island [chief Harold Dappa-Biriye] clearly stated in a 1999 Guardian interview that he along with Ken Saro-Wiwa and other Nigerr Deltans in the Old Eastern Region induced Gowon to excise them from the Old Eastern Region to have a separate government from the Ibo who they saw a dominating them. Jasper Isaac Adaka Boro had led a rebellion in 1966 because of the same grouse as well but he was imprisoned for that by Ironsi's regime.

2 days later Ojukwu declared secession because of that leading to the start of the Nigerian Civil war in July 1967
after forcefully dragging the non-ibo lands of the old Eastern Region into the illegally formed biafra map.

Lagos state receives federal allocation from oil and gas money just all other states in Nigeria, so why all this shallow and crap talk about Lagos being developed with oil money as if your state did not get any? Lagos State has Ijebus, Aworis, Ogus and Egba as the original indigenes if you must know and they deserve to have peace of mind just like all the indigenes of other states in Nigeria.

1] Ijebu-Yorubas are the owners and indigenes of Lekki/Ajah/Epe/Ikorodu LGAs
2] Awori-Yorubas occupy other LGAs and,
3] Aworis and Ogu [Egun]share Badagry LGA.
4] Egbas are located in Abule-Egba and Abule-taylor as indigenes.

Lagos state had even degenerated infrastructure-wise over the years - and it took the civilian administrations starting from 1999 to start the urban renewal using internally generated revenue and some loans which are being paid back as and when due by the Lagos Government.

Ondo produces more Crude oil and generates 3 times more income than all the oils returns combined from Imo and Abia State [You can find the details from the Federal monthly allocation]. The Itsekiri or Ugborodo [Escravos] indigenes of Delta State are of direct Yoruba ancestry with links to the Yoruba Ilaje oil-rich communities of Ondo State so you cannot say Yorubas have not contributed oil resources to develop Nigeria.

Ignorantly some people do not know that Itsekiris are Delta Yoruba with some Bini inluences in the monarchy which came about over 600 years ago when Itsekiris of Ijebu origin especially from Omadina and Ode-Itsekiri[who were in the majority] accepted Prince Ginuwa a son of the Oba of Benin to become a king. Ginuwas mother was from Ife-Yoruba ancestry and was one of the wives of the then Oba when Prince Ginuwa had to resettle outside Benin with about 70 of his trusted men who married some Itsekiri-Yoruba women from Ode-Itsekiri axis hence the similarity between Itsekiri language and especially Ijebu-Yoruba dialect.

If you investigate, the delectable Nigerian female music diva Omawumi has a Yoruboid name which is a variant of Omowunmi which is common in other parts of Yoruba axis. [Please note that Omawumi's biological mum is from Bonny Island in Rivers State based on an interview she granted to Punch newspaper few years ago].

Enough said! wink

[b]Kalu's Parkview house was due for tenement rate payment just like some other buildings in Lagos State - so why
the neurotic response here by Orji Kalu just to whip up ethnic sentiments!

I've read the 2 sides of the story in the newspapers - and I noticed that Orji Kalu tried to score very cheap points by saying he was being victimised because of the relocation of only 14 [NOT 72]indigenes of anambra who were rehabilitated for some months and given some stipends- and as a humanitarian gesture relocated to their states voluntarily just like other Yoruba, Hausa and others have been graciously relocated. smiley

Again Igalas are indigenous to Anambra so how sure are we that all of them are ibos to elicit such wild and exagerated response by Ibos who were misled by Anambra Governor into thinking that 72 people were relocated against their will when infact Governor Fasola and Lagos documents clearly state 14 people were voluntarily
moved to their state!

This guy should be ashamed of himself Anyway the building has unsealed and orji has 7-days to pay up. He can pay since he is a millionare who according to him made much of his money in Lagos state when he moved over from Maiduguri as a guy in his 20's to become the youngest and indeed the first ibo to lift crude-oil.

Orji is one of those I admired but lately, he gets involved in primordial arguements and tribalistic controversies that are meant to stir up ethnic hatred and draw national attention to himself using especially The Sun newspaper which he owns and controls.

Politics › Re: Ibaka Seaport In Akwa Ibom To Start Operations In 2015 by Konquest:
A lot of non-ibos are heavily into importation business - and/or import-export business in Nigeria. A lot of Yoruba, Edo, Lebanese and other multi-nationals are heavily into this sector. Ibos wrongly think they are the only people bringing containers into Nigeria but a lot of those containers do NOT belong to ibos.

So even if they move to Ibaka axis of Akwa Ibom State, business will still boom in the western ports with cargo moving up north of Nigeria as well. Lekki Free Trade Zone will also lead to a boom.

I'm happy for Akwa Ibom and Nigeria over Ibaka and hope indigenes of Akwa Ibom will key into it business-wise as well
so that some "outsiders" will not start saying they are the ones that built Akwa Ibom and own 50% of the houses in Akwa Ibom - or constitute 75% of Akwa Ibom within the next 10 years of arrival[Pun Intended]

January 2, 2013 by Stanley Opara 35 Comments

By 2014, oil is expected to be produced for the first time offshore Lagos State from the Aje gas and condensate field, which lies in Oil Mining Lease 113 in the Benin Basin, about 43 kilometres offshore Lagos.

YES! 43 kilometres offshore Lagos is within the lucrative oil-laden[b] CONTINENTAL SHELF[/b]...

Lekki Peninsula also has crude oil and gas deposits discovered by Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum. wink
The Ijebus who are the landowners or indigenes of Ibeju-Lekki LGA axis, and the Aworis and their kith
and kin [the Ogus of Badagry LGA axis where oil and gas deposits have also been discovered by Yinka
Folawiyo Petroleum on Awori and Ogu lands in Badagry LGA] must make sure their lands are NOT
destroyed and they must EMPOWER their youths to key in to the wealth from oils and gas [and also
take advantage of the Lekki Free Trade Zone]along with other investors.

But care has to be taken to use INTERNATIONAL BEST PRACTICES when drilling onshore
and offshore. The Ilaje-Yoruba oil communities of Ondo State have been having a tough time with
oil spillages on land and in the water ways. But with the influencial multibillionaire HRM Oba
Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, the founder of OBAT Oil & Petroleum as a king in that region of
Ilaje, he should be able to use his influence to stop Chevron's excessive spillages to the bare
minimum. If NOT militancy will continue among the Ilaje communities.

I'm happy for Lagos State and Anambra/Kogi [still disputing]as well for their oil deposits
which can be used to fast-track development. smiley

More controversies from the long awaited book THERE WAS A COUNTRY by Chinua Achebe,
Mr Danjuma Azemobo Musa has now added more fuel to the already heated debate.

I had wanted to stay away from discussing the "Awolowo" part of the raging controversy generated by Prof. Achebe's book THERE WAS A COUNTRY... but since most people would rather defend Awolowo than dwell on other crictical issues raised in the book, let us consider that in Awolowo's understanding, the over 2 Miliion Igbo men, women and children whom he starved to death were just collateral damage. In order words, to purnish a few "Biafran" dissidents into surrender, he helped murder 2 Million "Nigerians".

Hear the truth from Awolowo's own lips:
"...so I decided to stop sending the food there. In the process the civilians would suffer, but the soldiers will suffer most."- Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

What more can one conclude? - Mr Danjuma Azemobo Musa.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
@all
Danjuma Azemobo Musa [Lets assume that is his REAL NAME], is being disingenious
with the truth here! grin

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
PLEASE NOTE HERE:
"Bonny, Okrika and Port Harcourt on July 26, 1968 and the port of Calabar on October 18, 1968 were LIBERATED after Amphibious landings by the gallant Nigerian Marines led by the Nigerian Ijaw icon, Major Isaac Adaka Boro of the 3rd Marine Commado division of the Nigerian army under the leadership of the the Col. Benjamin Adekunle."
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

"Now, when Chief Obafemi Awolowo [SAN] visited the 'LIBERATED AREAS' in 1968, he first SAW KWASHIORKOR VICTIMS who
had crossed over to the liberated areas of Calabar, Enugu and Port Harcourt. It was based on what he saw in 1968
as stated in his Abeokuta Town Hall Meeting of 1983 that made him to say, "Then I enquired what happened to the
food we are sending to the civilians. We were sending food THROUGH the Red Cross, and CARITAS to them, but what
happened was that the VEHICLES carrying the FOOD were always AMBUSHED by the soldiers [i.e., biafra rebels].

"You won't hear of a single lawyer, a single doctor, a single architect, WHO SUFFERED from KWASHIORKOR. NONE of
their CHILDREN either, so they waylaid the foods, they AMBUSH the vehicles and took the foods to their friends and to
their collaborators and to their children and the MASSES WERE SUFFERING. So I decided to stop sending the food there.
In the process the civilians would suffer, but the soldiers will suffer most."

It is satanic and an act of MISCHIEF for ANYBODY to say Awolowo [who was then a respected ECONOMIST AND LAWYER] starved OR CAUSED Igbos to SUFFER from KWASHIORKOR because those people already had MALNUTRITION when he got to the liberated areas in 1968. It is satanic to continue to put words into Awolowo's mouth [cherry-picking and criminal twisting of Awolowo's words] by MANIPULATING the last statement he made in English which is very clear enough, "So I decided to stop sending the food there. In the process the civilians would suffer, but the soldiers will suffer most"

@packman

You are just trying to whip up SENTIMENTS HERE on Nairaland.

Is it wise or reasonable for people to break the laws of
Lagos and Nigeria - and even risk their lives in traffic? These
hawkers who are mostly new commers in Lagos should be reported
to their state governors who will then take them to the farms
for commercial or mechanised agriculture which is very profitable.

Some of them even dig up roads so as to create traffic hold ups
in order to sell their goods in traffic. angry

Hello all!

I have read with deep interest and concern as facts and
fiction are being thrown around about the Nigerian Civil War.
As an avid reader of Nigerian Civil War books and content
for over 30 years-plus, I am well informed on some of the
events of the Civil War from the perspectives of Nigerian
and ex-secessionist or rebel officers who have written
their memoirs! smiley

I have a 2-Part article coming up that I will be posting
on Nairaland on the full reasons why the war took
place and who triggered the chain of events - sometimes
leading to unintended and deadly consequences
for Nigerians - including the innocent Igbo
who had the misfortune of having a secessionist
leadership that merged the new South-South
states of Rivers State and East Central State
[Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom]created on May 27,1967
in the biafra enclave which was declared without their
permission [permission of Ibibios, Efiks, Ekoi, Ikwerres
and Ijaws. That is the MAIN reason why they lost the WAR.

The rebels in the defunct biafra FAILED right from the
beginning because biafra was not based on the rule of
law. If Igbos only had left without including other ethnic
groups within the biafra map, They would have had some
sympathies. The political leadership in the West and Mid-West
were also NOT informed before the Mid-West invasion by biafra
rebels and this led to deep resentment and suspicions of Ojukwus
intentions. It is NOT surprising that after the Mid-West
invasion more Edo, Urhobo, Isoko, Ika, Efik, Ibibio, Ijaw
and Yoruba joined the Nigerian armed forces to confront the
rebel biafra effrontry.

The unwise behavior being displayed by some posters
on the Internet by distorting facts - especially
some young people who probably were NOT even born
during the Civil War has made me to react here on
Nairaland which is the largest Nigerian forum online. smiley

Major Gen. David Ejoor, the military Governor of the Mid-Western State as of 1967 [Now Edo and Delta States] says:

"The problem of oil started during the Civil War, when Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu created
biafra and INCLUDED the South-South in order to CONTROL the OIL. When I asked him, why he
was creating biafra, and if the Igbos were going, he said the Igbo were going. I asked him why
he included the Benin, Urhobo, the Calabar people, and the Ijaw. He said 'we are one,' and I
said WE ARE NOT ONE. I asked whether he DISCUSSED with me that we should be part of biafra.
He said NO, and I said WE COULD NOT be. It was BECAUSE of my REFUSAL that WE HAD to FIGHT
the Civil War to PROTECT South-South." ~ Major Gen. David Ejoor, former Military Governor of
Mid-Western State before and during the Civil War. [Culled from THE GUARDIAN, Tuesday,
September, 2004, Page 8]
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The killings in the North in 1966 were NOT justified
but it was TRIGGERED by the tauntings of Northerners
after the killing of their leaders including prominent
military officers and politicians and their wives
[up to 30,OOO people were killed by the high-ranking
officers who unfortunately were mostly of Igbo ancestry
such Major 'Kaduna 'Nzeogwu and Major E. Ifeajuna [Dr.
Nnamdi Azikiwe's cousin] with a few very junior soldiers
of other ethnic groups.

Again the Unification Decree 34 of Ironsi leading to the abolition
of REGIONAL GOVERNMENTS also led to suspicions of Igbo domination
and last but not least, after the killings of January 15, 1966,
some Igbos in the North and East were VERY CARELESS in openly
mocking and taunting the Northerners in form of music, cartoons,
BREAD LABEL, publications, and verbally in the barracks and this
was confirmed by some former Igbo military officers in their
memoirs or autobiographies books.

==>>http://www.africamasterweb.com/CounterCoup.html

Ironsi himself was aware of this and gave a warning to anybody
[Igbos] making mockery of others - BUT IT WAS TOO LATE as INNOCENT
Igbos were attacked and up to 30,000 official estimate lost
their lives as a result of the cocky and arrogant attitude
of some Igbos which is still being replicated today with
terrible insults being heaped on Gowon, Awolowo who would
have been 103 years old this year were he to be alive.

IN ADDITION:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Since Gen. Gowon had created 12 new states on May 27, 1967, Lt. Col. Ojukwu had NO RIGHT [without the full permission of the non-Igbo or South-South people of the former Eastern Region] to include them in the defunct Igbo-dominated biafran enclave which Ojukwu created 3 days later on May 30, 1967. As you can all see from the Wikipedia map of the defunct biafra, the present Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom states [of the former Eastern Region] were included. The iconic Ijaw [Izon] leader, Major Isaac Adaka Boro fought on the Federal side [he served in the iconic 3rd Marine Commando of the Nigerian Federal Army to liberate his people and other minority ethnic groups from being included in the Igbo-dominated biafra enclave. Amphibious landings by the gallant Nigerian Marines led by Major Isaac Adaka Boro, a hero of the Nigerian Ijaws [Izon] captured the Niger Delta cities of Bonny, Okrika and Port Harcourt on July 26, 1968 and the port of Calabar on October 18, 1968! So, why single out the Yorubas, Awolowo, General Gowon, and Northerners [mainly Middle Belt non-Muslims] in this very insulting yearly BLAMING GAME ritual and circular reasoning by most Igbos? The Akwa Ibom-born Brig. Gen. Philip Effiong's wife was an Igbo, and Lt. Col Emeka Ojukwu's mother was from Calabar - and that may have given Ojukwu the confidence or boldness to merge these large non-Igbo areas in
the biafran enclave by force, but it did not have the wider support of the majority of the non-Igbos in the former Eastern Region.

The Navy Captain Alfred Diette-Spiff a Nigerian Ijaw Prince [now HRH King or Amanyanabo Alfred Diette-Spiff] was the first Governor of the new Rivers State from May 27, 1967, then during and after the Nigerian Civil War!

During the Mid-West invasion - some atrocities were committed by the biafran soldiers as they invaded places such as Warri and Benin city preparatory to the creation of the so-called "Republic of Benin" [which was dead on arrival] from the Mid-Western state by the invading rebels. This galvanised more resistance against the invading rebels by the indigenes of the present South-South areas of Nigeria [from Edo and Delta States] against what seemed like attempts at Igbo domination of their areas until they were finally repelled towards and across the River Niger. You can read more about the Mid-West invasion of 1967 and the acts of atrocities commited by the secessionist biafra soldiers by

FSU: INCREDIBLE! In the Caribbean Islands, indigenes speak Igbo, Yoruba

'Nigerian masquerades, a common sight in Cuba'

By COSMAS OMEGOH

You may find this incredible, but Igbo and Yoruba languages are widely spoken in the Caribbean Islands. And the speakers are not Nigerians living in those countries. Indigenes of the Caribbean Islands speak Igbo and Yoruba.

It might be different from the Yoruba or Igbo that many Nigerians speak today, but a foremost entertainer and music maestro, Tar Ukoh, says many people in the area speak Igbo and Yoruba of the 13th century. Till now he says, the Yorubas still play and enjoy their traditional Yoruba songs, while the Igbos feature their nmanwu, agaba and ekpe masquerades. Ukoh, known in the entertainment world as Mambisa, made this revelation while on a guided tour with a group of Cuban ladies mostly of Yoruba ancestry now in the country.

They are part of the Cuban troupe searching for the place their ancestors once lived and called their own before they were brutally uprooted by slave raiders and merchants and whisked to sugar plantations in the Caribbean Islands. "This group you are seeing here consists of Yoruba ladies from Cuba.

They are here searching for their ancestral home. They are asking, Ile mi da (where is my home)? And don't forget that out there in the Caribbean, there are countless Igbos too who still speak their language, feature in agaba, ekpe and nmanwu masquerades. From those masquerades, they fashioned out a brand of music they call Wawanco. Their ancestors too were the exponents of the popular Calypso music which is an adulteration of Ka anyi soo nmanwu (let's join the masquerade troupe).

They also play another brand of music called Abakwua to remember Abata, a point in Ogoja axis in Cross River through which slaves were taken. Slaves who went through that route were then given numbers such as Abata 1, 2... to identify them." Now, Ukoh is demanding that those routes and other historical sites like the Long Juju of Arochukwu be revitalised.

He says if that is done, it will boost historical tourism which can become an alternative source of revenue to oil. He is therefore advising that Nigeria should take a cue from countries like Ghana and Senegal that are bountifully reaping from the industry, adding that annually, thousands of tourists stream into both countries to see the Elmina Caste and the House of Slaves on Goree Island respectively where slaves in the 18th century were hounded before their final shipment abroad.

Ukoh who holds citizenships of Cuba and Ethiopia says he is still regretting the alleged Nigeria's rejection of United Nations Education and Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)'s request that slave routes from Isikwuato, Abriba, Arochukwu to Opobo be revitalised to serve as a world heritage site.

"Some time ago, UNESCO approached Nigeria, wanting those routes along which slaves were taken to Opobo be revitalised as a UNESCO project, but Nigeria turned down the request. Countries like Ghana and Senegal then picked the initiative, and now they are making fortune from the project. That is what I'm appealing to Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State to act on. If he could re-establish the Long juju of Arochukwu, the Isikwuato - Abriba slave trade routes, then he can collaborate with Akwa Ibom State to develop the Jaja of Opobo enclave," he said. Ukoh, who facilitated the coming of the Cuban delegation, told Daily Sun that he was very excited at the collaboration. Describing himself as a Nigerian cultural ambassador, he said he takes much pleasure in marketing Nigeria and Africa to the entire world. "I'm the facilitator and co-ordinator of the project. I brought this cultural troupe to Nigeria.

I'm a citizen of Cuba, by the way. I have been working with Cuba for the past 30 years. What you are seeing today is just an extension of the programme I have been doing in that country. "The Cubans arrived here in August and featured in the Osun Osogbo Festival. And since then, they have been touring the country. They will round off their tour after visiting 16 states." The essence of the tour, he says "is to develop Nigerian-Cuba tie.

Their aim is to promote their Yoruba heritage in Cuba here in Nigeria."He expressed happiness that "the response we are getting is fantastic. We go to the villages for them to see things for themselves. What we are doing at the moment is part of the initiative to promote Nigerian - Cuban diplomatic relations." Ukoh, a multi-linguist from Benue State, says he prides himself as Nigerian, Ethiopian and African cultural ambassador. "I represent Ethiopia in Nigeria.

I'm a pan Africanist because I promote Ethiopian culture in Africa and they see me as their son and that is important to me. In the same way, I'm Nigeria's cultural ambassador and I see myself as so. That is what I do all over the world. Nigeria gives me that job, that recognition and that is why I'm bringing the Cubans to tour the country. I do that without much help. I don't need any payment to do that; I see that as my duty."

He said he works with the Federal Ministry of Culture and Tourism because "they recognise my job all over the world, especially in Africa. So when I bring in programmes, they accept them and often we collaborate. When they have programmes and want to reach out to those countries where they feel I have influence, they always encourage me to have collaboration with them." He noted that it had become necessary for him to market culture because "culture is everything to me. Without culture, everything is lost. Technology is culture; the food we eat is culture, even understanding how to look after our environment is culture.

Therefore culture is important to our existence. It is not all about singing and dancing; it is the totality of our existence." The Cuban troupe to Nigeria consists of a team leader, Comrade Karina Palaciuos, a manager and a television journalist said to be the best in Cuba, (both of them males) and then seven women whose ages averaged 25 years. The group has been around since August, 24 2012, when this year's edition of Osun Osogbo was held. Guided by Ukoh, the group has since been touring some states in the country, interacting with the people and getting used to the Nigerian way of life. The group called Obirin Bata (Women playing the Bata drum, in Yoruba) was at the last Osun Osogbo Festival, drumming and dancing, wining and dining.

Looking at the women, nothing suggests that they are Nigerians, let alone Yoruba. Most of them look alike, except the troupe leader, Comrade Palacious. However, in their midst is a Fulani lady whose look is totally Fulani. All but Comrade Palacious speak Spanish; but they claim to speak Yoruba of the 13th century which might be lost to today's speakers of the language. "We are here in Nigeria at the instance of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba and Ministry of Culture, Orientation and Tourism of Nigeria," says Comrade Palacious. "We signed an agreement to develop cultural interaction. We are bringing our culture back to our motherland Africa. So we are back to our roots. Our mission here is to visit different states and see as many places as possible.

"We are excited to be back to our roots. We have been to Osun Osogbo Festival and participated in the international event. We were at the Osun River; we shared with the people in all that they did. In Cuba, we observe the same tradition like the Osun Osogbo. Our cultural troupe is called Obirin Bata which I'm told translates to women playing the drum. "We are very excited to be here. Let me tell you, our country was once a colony of Spain. When the Spanish arrived Cuba, majority of the local Cubans had died and disappeared. Then slaves from Africa started arriving, most of them coming from the Yoruba speaking people of Nigeria.

That is why when you get to streets in Cuba, you see Yoruba speaking people. Now 500 years after, we are back here. "Indeed, I like this cultural visit. With the help of the Ministry of Culture of both countries, I look forward to seeing that a cultural exchange programme between Cuba and Nigeria is implemented. We would like to see Nigerians go to Cuba and have a rewarding experience just as we are having here," she added.

The Nigerian Police should start using modern crime fighting tools such as the Sonic
devices for demobilising criminals so they don't have to use live bullets all the time
in crime prevention as seen in foreign crime fighting programs on cable TV.

Let us be on our own, let us go and manage our lives but you say NO!

We must be together as "one". It is a shame!

@ noblezone

If you've read most of the Nigerian Civil War books just as I have,
You will realise that the Igbo wanted to leave Nigeria along with the
Minorities of the old eastern region because of the oil fields there
and this was unnaceptable to the Federal Government and Nigerian
Minorities in the present Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers and AkwaIbom.

The rebels also invaded the present Edo and Delta states and there
was resistance by the people of these areas to the Igbo invasion of
their lands.

Phillip Effiong's wife is of Igbo ancestry and Ojukwu's mother is
from Calabar so we can understand why they tried to include these
areas in the defunt biafra - which as we all know was NEVER recognised
by the United Nations. smiley

[b]Chemical castration is being tried out on paedophiles and rapist in
the UK and South Korea. Nigeria should speed up the process too - starting with dynamic
state governments such as Lagos, Rivers.

So, chemical castration should be used without further ado on any rapist in Nigeria,
then death penalty should be metted out to the 2 cousins who did this to Cynthia in the
Festac/Amuwo Odofin hotel!

The other 2 guys will have to get a life sentence with hard labour! angry
We do not expect anything less.

Second, girls should only drink juices or water from ONLY sealed or tamper-proof
glass bottle and canned drinks - do NOT take drinks from Tetrapaks such as 5Alive
because these male slowpoke rapists can easily inject date-rape drugs into them - this has
happened on AMERICAN CAMPUSES and night clubs in the US as well and the girls
loss all memory about what has happened. I had to inform my only sister about 10
years ago to be careful about drinking anything offered at parties by men after
I read about the use of date-rape drug on the Internet. I never knew this thing
would hit limelight in Nigeria 10 years later.

Females and decent men reading this should pass on this warning to their female
friends and family on Twitter, Facebook, SMS - let it go viral.

I salute the courage of General Osokogu for coming out to advice our young women
and I wish the rest of the Osokogu family - I assume they are from Anioma
axis in Delta state since the General thanked the Obi of Owa and other Anioma
Rulers in the Saturday Punch edition that I read last week.

ifele:
U see. They are transfering many army military equipment and facilities to the North.

They are afraid that the Southerners will get their hands on the weapons on the evil day.

Their is no power balance in Nigeria now. Yorubas should have helped Igbos during the war.

[color=Black]But Yorubas did not value their own freedom and dignity of their children. If Yorubas could have thrown away their cowardice [/color]on the day of action the problems you see in Niger Delta etc. would not even exist because there would have been a united front against Nigeria government. Now Yorubas realised their mistake so they formed OPC and OPA. But they were infiltrated by SSS agents and crippled. Justice will be done some day.
[color=Black]ifele[/color] the accusations you made about the Yorubas NOT helping Igbos during the civil war is a continuation of the half-truths and urban legends.

[color=Black]There was no time that a pact (between Awolowo and Ojukwu - or any other Igbo) was ever signed with Igbos to secede or collaborate in procecuting that war! Many of the people who went to the East with Chief Awolowo for peace negotiations with Chief Ojukwu shortly before the war started all said nothing like that ever took place. [/color]

Chief M.C.K Ajuluchukwu who was an associate of Chief Awolowo also confirmed in one of Chief Awolowo's books  "Awo on the Nigerian Civil War" published in 1982 - that nothing of such took place and the repeated hostility towards Awolowo was not justified. The late Chief Ajuluchukwu was in an adjoining room when Awolowo visited Ojukwu in the East before the civil war on the 6th of May, 1967. I first read this in a publication in the Guardian a few years ago and I even filed away. These stories evolved as a result of war-time propaganda. Also, the attempt to prevent Awolowo from winning elections in the Eastern part of Nigeria during the Second republic also contributed more to the beer palour propaganda accusations against Awolowo and Yorubas

From all the Civil War books written by military officers and civilians on the Federal side and the break-way/rebel side that I've read, it was even obvious that the South-South ethnic groups like the Ijaws and others never wanted to be under Igbo control. Indeed a significant number of the 3rd Marine Commandos in the Federal Army were of Ijaw (Izon origin)! When Port Harcourt was liberated we all saw pictures of people of people of the Ikwere ethnic group and others jubilating in the 1960s pictures in the Civil War books!

During the Mid-West invasion - some atrocities were committed by the Biafran soldiers as they entered places like Warri and Benin preparatory to The creation of the so-called "Benin Republic" for the Mid-West Benin area by the invading forces. This galvanised more resistance against the invading troops until they were finally repelled towards and across the River Niger.

The continued reference to Yorubas as cowards is an attempt to shift the blame for the failure of the Biafran project on Yorubas. [color=Black]The blame game by some Igbos should stop so that self-acceptance and full healing will take place. [/color]

In any event seeing the very graphic pictures of dead Igbos in those civil war books being brought from the Northern pogroms was shocking for me and it drew some tears from my eyes. The actions and inactions of the personalities on all sides prior to the start of the civil war were responsible for those deaths.

We all need to develop - and enhance the wealth in our heads to achieve global prominence in culture, science and technology like the multi-ethnic Singaporeans and the Japanese etc, and NOT dream of becoming billionaires "in order to wage war" against Nigeria and ourselves.

PS: Do you all remember that it was a prominent member of the Igbo community that was selling weapons to Nigeria and Biafra at the same time during the civil war?  grin

Think!  wink

Mr. Kase Lawal was born in 1954 and got his Bsc. in 1976 at the age of 22! smiley

He did NOT get his Bsc in Chemical engineering at 32 years in 1976 just like
you stated in your post.

He is a graduate of Texas Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in business administration, finance and marketing from Prairie View A&M University of Texas. He was most recently awarded an honorary doctorate in philosophy from Fort Valley State University.

I've been following the activities of this Nigerian-American International Business man - Kase Lawal since I got to know about him in 2000 and I must say here that he has been sponsoring Nigerians on scholarships to the United States - especially in the field of engineering. He's someone who doesn't make a noise and is a moslem and interacts regularly with Houston-based Nigerian-American Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon on issues relating to the Nigerian and Nigerian-American community in the United States. He's married to Eileen Lawal who he met in school.

Mr Lawal is a man I'm proud of because CAMAC was voted as the largest black-owned business in the United States. It would be inappropriate for some people to start refering to the man as a collaborator with "any government in power" because he made millions from crude oil in Africa and South America.
