You are playing mischievious mind games here with your posts.

A lot of people in Nigeria [including The FEDERAL GOVERNMENT of NIGERIA led by GEJ, Christian Association of
Nigeria and other groups had initially called for AMNESTY for Boko Haram at the same time that General Buhari
was reported in the papers to have called for amnesty thinking that would solve the problem like that of the
Niger Delta boys - but it didn't work].

Punch and other major newspapers online - and offline reported a lot of non-muslims in Nigeria and
abroad also muted the amnesty offer, but the bastard BH boys did NOT ACCEPT the offer.

@ozoigbondu

It might interest you that the first major widely publicised act of kidnapping in Lagos
for ransome was in 2009 when Ifesinachi Motors boss' wife was kidnapped and taken from Lagos to
the Eastern part of by members of staff who were of Igbo origin. They were later caught by a crack
team of police detectives and shown on Crime Fighters TV. angry

In 2010, 2 teenage sisters of Igbo origin were kidnapped at gunpoint in the afternoon at Agboju-Festac 2nd gate in
broad daylight as reported by Punch and kept for up to 30 days before suspicious neighbours informed the police and
the group of young kidnappers of Igbo origin who had come rom outside Lagos were arrested. The girls might even have
been raped.

Since then a lot of the major kidnapping for ransome and robberies in Lekki and other parts of Lagos and Ogun
in 2012, 2013, 2014 and even early 2015 were carried out by Igbo kidnappers and robbers most of whom came in
from Anambra State [interstate robbers]. Many of them were caught in Lagos and Ogun States by brave police
detectives and through information by vigilant citizens of these areas.

This is a very disturbing trend BECAUSE even an Igbo man LOST his life after being kidnapped in the Okota area of
Lagos in late 2013.

Without the security trust fund and heavy funding of the police by the BRF government in Lagos things would have
been worse - over 80% of the funding of the Nigerian Federal Police is done by State Governments alone! angry

The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested members of a kidnapping syndicate suspected to have kidnapped the Chairman, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Kehinde Bamigbetan.

According to the police, the suspects were arrested shortly after kidnapping an Indian, Vivex Changrani, in the early hours of Monday.

The Commissioner of Police for the command, Umar Manko, said the suspects were not based in Lagos but only operated in the state on weekends after which they would flee to Ghana.

He said apart from Bamigbetan, the suspects had been involved in a series of high-profile kidnapping including that of a Federal High Court judge in Lagos.

He said, “Based on painstaking investigation and tracking of Nigerian kidnappers who kidnapped Ejigbo LCDA Chairman, Kehinde Bamigbetan, a sitting Federal High Court Judge and other notable individuals in Lagos, a team of detectives, led by the Officer in Charge of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, traced the kidnappers to the Agbara area of Ogun State where the kidnappers have their camp.

“After 72 hours of laying ambush, the policemen stormed the house where the kidnappers were gathered. A gun duel ensued and seven kidnappers were killed. Two of the kdinappers, Ogbonna Emenike and Uchenna Nwanyu, were arrested alive with bullet wounds while four AK47 rifles, 28 AK47 magazines and over 1,000 rounds of AK47 live ammunition were recovered.

“A Honda CRV and a Nissan Pathfinder as well as charms were recovered from them. An Indian national, Vivex Changrani, who was kidnapped at Ikoyi two hours before the operation, was also rescued by the police.”

Manko said the suspects were able to evade arrest for so long because they were in Ghana and due to international law, Nigeria policemen had to collaborate with INTERPOL to track the suspects.

The police boss said the suspects operated in army uniforms which deceived members of the public.

“We discovered that because the suspects operated in army uniform, they easily got away. Sometimes, they could even alight from their vehicles in broad daylight and direct traffic in order to escape,” he said.

According to police detectives, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, the suspects lived flamboyant lifestyles in Ghana.

A police source, said the leader of the gang, Jonah Benjamin Osinachi aka China, who was killed during a gun duel with the police, owned a big restaurant in Ghana and other investments which he funded with proceeds from his illegitimate business.

unuane1:
•Thugs beat up journalists, politicians
By Rotimi Akinwumi / Snr
Correspondent, Abuja
Political thugs from Rivers State believed
to be supporters of Minister of State for
Education, Nyesom Wike, went wild on
Thursday at the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) Presidential Campaign Office
otherwise called Legacy House, Abuja,
where they unleashed terror on anyone in
sight.
Wike himself added fire to the mayhem
when he rained punches on a man
suspected to be his opponent at the scene.
The crisis broke out at the venue while
playing host to the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) South South Integration
Committee headed by Ilya Abubakar.
In the midst of the pandemonium, the
minister, on alighting from the conference
room where the committee was sitting,
reportedly engaged the man perceived to
be one of his opponents in a shouting
match, before personally raining punches
on him.
Speaking to newsmen after his ordeal in
the hands of Wike, the man gave his name
as Lolo Ibieneye, a former Commissioner
for Water Resources under the
administration of Peter Odili and
Coordinator of the Jonathan/Sambo
Campaign 2011 in Rivers State.
Stakeholders in River State who wrote
memos to the committee were invited to
speak on their submission, but majority of
those considered as opponents of Wike’s
camp were denied access to the committee
by the thugs who took charge of security
at the venue.
Of the 22 who showed up, only four
persons considered as moderates were
granted access to the room where the
committee members were seated.
The suspected thugs who came in their
hundreds had besieged the premises as
early as 8.00 a.m. and took over control of
security at the Legacy House, pushing
aside policemen at the venue.
The policemen had to abandon their job of
crowd control and looked on helplessly, as
the thugs harassed anyone who made
attempt to enter the main building where
the committee was sitting.
Journalists were not spared as well.
Cameramen of Channels Television and
Silverbird TV, Taye and Tunde Ajayi
respectively, and a Vanguard newspaper’s
reporter, Umoru Henry, were beaten
mercilessly by the thugs while the
policemen looked on.
Victorson Agbanson of the Federal Radio
Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), who was
also harassed by the thugs, had hectic
time recovering his digital tape recorder
from the hoodlums who had seized it from
him.
Some of the petitioners opposed to Wike
who had found their way into the main
building were locked up by some of the
thugs who took absolute control of the
entire premises in a room directly opposite
the conference room where the committee
was sitting.
As the scared men were shouting to attract
the attention of the committee members,
the thugs kept slapping them repeatedly,
and shouted them down with a threat to kill
them if they continued making noise.
Daily Independent reporter, who was also
held up in the lobby of the building but
managed to find his way out after some
time, observed that other antagonists of
Wike who managed to enter the expanse
compound were prevented from gaining
access into the main building.
They were indeed beaten up and had their
clothes torn into shred.
Among those beaten up within the
premises were Sara Egbe, Tabotamuno
Dick, a lawyer who was also at the venue
to defend the memo he wrote.
Tabotamuno was lucky to escape death
though, as he was left badly bloodied after
the incident.
A professor, Owate Israel, was also beaten
by the thugs.
At a point, some of the aggrieved
petitioners who were locked outside the
main gate mobilised thugs themselves to
counter the ones working for the minister
but were chased away by the police.
Those working for the minister were,
however, left untouched.
Some of the petitioners who spoke to
newsmen at the venue of the crisis,
represented by Anab Igbe, said what they
were protesting against was violation of
the constitution of the party.
Igbe accused the Wike camp of trying to
hijack the party structure with a view to
denying the rest of the members the
opportunity to contest the party ticket for
Rivers State elections come 2015.
Some of the aggrieved petitioners later
stormed the Wadata Plaza National
Secretariat of the PDP where they lodged
their complaint to the party leaders.
National Publicity Secretary of the PDP,
Olisa Metuh, who addressed the protesters
at the gate of the party secretariat, assured
them of a level playing field at the party
primary.
The PDP spokesman assured that the
party members would be given the
opportunity to elect and nominate
aspirants of their choice who would
eventually become the party’s candidate
for elections in 2015.
“We are promising you that that is what
will happen in Rivers and every single
state of the federation.
“Our party is against consensus candidate
and any idea of intimidating the people.
There should be no intimidation and
coercion,” he said.
Metuh, while urging the protesters to
remain calm, maintained that the party
would continue to uphold true democratic
tenets and principles in its nomination
processes.
He advised the youths to ensure they
motivated and mobilised their people to
ensure they come out to vote for their
candidates in the 2015 general elections.
Oni Quakers from Kalabari land, who
spoke on behalf of the youths, said they
were protesting the imposition of Ikwere
indigenes on the people as the state’s next
Governor.
He stressed that Ikweres had ruled the
state for 16 years, adding that it was time
for the Ijaws to rule the state.

Nyesom Wike will be massively brutal [like Ayo Fayose in his first term

bestman09:
APC Is Everything But Responsible Opposition – PDP
Says Opposition Party Adds No Value To The Peace,
Unity And Progress Of Nigeria
In our quest for a robust democracy where a vibrant
opposition keeps the party in power on its toes via
constructive criticism and offering alternative policy
plans, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had upon
the registration of All Progressives Congress (APC) on
July 31, 2013 congratulated the party and advised it to
enrich the political space with positive ideas.
We again admonished the party along the same line
after the election of its National Executives on June 14,
2014 to “ensure an issue based opposition that will
purposefully and constructively engage and challenge
the PDP with decency and maturity as prescribed by
democratic tenets and principles.”
Stating that Nigerians deserve a vibrant and patriotic
opposition driven only by the national interest, we
charged the new APC leadership to “put the unity and
welfare of Nigerians ahead of other considerations and
jettison all divisive tendencies including unguarded
statements that overheat the polity and pitch
Nigerians against one another”.
As we inch towards the 2015 general elections, it has
become crystal clear that we had in error dressed the
APC in oversized robe. We clearly charted for them a
job that is way beyond their pay grade. We can say
without any fear of contradictions that the APC in its 14
months of existence has shown that no serious minded
person should call it an opposition party as it has
demonstrated to be nothing more than a band of
anarchists, scaremongers and idle politicians.
The motley assembly of political opportunists and
frustrated office seekers in over a year of its
registration has issued 117 press statements which
ALL have been devoted to abusing President Goodluck
Jonathan and PDP officials and promoting division
among Nigerians.
There has not been ONE press statement in which the
APC had taken up any major policy issue by the PDP
and offered Nigerians how it intends to do it better if it
ever had the chance to govern the country. Statement
after statement, all the APC pours out are bile, hate
insult and low-quality propaganda from the stable of
its Goebbelian ilk and Chemical Ali breed.
In the same vein, APC leaders have continued to make
inflammatory utterances tailored to incite hatred and
violence and ultimately balkanize our nation. The
series of threats by APC leaders ahead of the 2015
general election and the announcement by their
National Chairman that they will form a parallel
government should they lose the 2015 presidential
election clearly point to their anti-Nigeria agenda.
With nothing to offer the country as a party conceived
in perfidy and born in opportunism, they strive every
now and then to look for scandals to feast on while
attempting to corrupt all the institutions of
accountability to shield the many maggots that
dominate the ranks of its top chieftains.
It boggles the mind how a party where a kilometer of
road costs N1billion in states under its control by
companies linked to one of its henchmen as against
less than N50m when PDP governors were in charge
looks outside its house for scandals. What can be more
scandalous than 20% of the Internally Generated
Revenue in its richest state going into the pockets of
one of the party owners consistently for over 16 years
now? Yet, the poster boys of greed are today chanting
"change" in our country!
This corrosive outfit has done so much harm to our
polity that words have lost their meanings. For
example calling themselves "progressives" is the
greatest oxymoron in our political lexicon since
amalgamation. Their major criterion for anyone to be a
progressive is having one or two headlines of insults
heaped on the President and PDP officers. As an elder
statesman succinctly puts it, if a group of armed
robbers held a press conference to abuse President
Jonathan, the APC leaders would go and beg them to
become their "navigators".
Indeed, the PDP had looked forward to a robust
opposition that will constructively engage on issue-for -
issue and policy-for-policy debate on nation building
only for the APC to expose its hollowness as an
‘Anarchic Peoples Club’.
We trust that Nigerians are too politically sophisticated
to be hoodwinked into swapping our Transformation
Agenda with supporter of APC politics garnished with
pedestrian rabble-rousing.
When these forged progressives come to town invoking
the imagery of violence, preaching hate and marching
on our fault lines, let the patriotic people of Nigeria
ask: “Progressive’ Politicians, where is your roadmap to
progress?”

Politics › Re: Rivers PDP Rivals Exchange Blows In Abuja by Konquest: 11:15am On Oct 10, 2014
prettyboi1989:
There was pandemonium at the National Campaign Office of the Peoples Democratic Party, Maitama, Abuja on Thursday as politicians suspected to be loyalists of the Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, beat his suspected opponents.
Wike is among those aspiring to be the governorship candidate of the party in Rivers State in 2015.

The thugs, who were in their tens, used dangerous weapons, such as stick, bottles and stones to scare away members of the party from the state from gaining entrance into the building, where members of the National Integration Committee, South-South zone, were meeting.
The meeting was aimed at settling grievances among members of the ruling party in the zone and Thursday was allotted to hear the grievances of those aggrieved in Rivers State.
But only Wike and his supporters were allowed to enter the venue of the meeting.

Many opponents of the minister, who came to present petitions to the Senator Iya Abubakar-led committee were beaten up by the thugs.
Those beaten included a legal practitioner, Mr. Tabotamuno Dick; a former Commissioner for Water Resources under former Governor Peter Odili, Mr. Lolo Ibieneye; Prof. Israel Owate, Dr. Sowaribi Tolofari, Mr. Sara Egbe and Chief Bekinbo Sobrekon.
Some journalists were also harassed while others had either their cameras damaged or their tape recorders seized.
Dick, who is a legal adviser to the Network for Defence of Democracy and Good Governance, suffered an injury near his left eye as a result of the beating.

While the thugs were beating him, policemen attached to the venue of the meeting refused to intervene, as one of them said they were handicapped because of the personalities involved.
However, the policemen joined the thugs to chase away rival politicians who were said not to be members of Wike’s Grassroots Democratic Initiatives.
Dick, who spoke with our correspondent after the incident, said, “I came to defend the petition we sent to the committee, but see what happened here today.

“I have been beaten by thugs and these thugs were joined by the policemen attached to someone who wants to be a governor of my state. We shall wait to see.”
Ibineneye also said that he was shoved and beaten, but warned that the PDP in the state would soon explode, adding that what happened in Abuja would have been a child’s play if the meeting had held in the state.

He said that out of 22 people who brought petitions to the committee, only four people were allowed inside.
Another aggrieved member, who was also harassed and sent out through the gate of the building, Sarigbe insisted that there was no way another Ikwerre person would succeed the current governor of the state, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.
Sarigbe, who is from Aku Local Government Area of the state, said, “They are violating the party’s constitution in the state because the party recognises zoning of offices in the state and everywhere.

“I’m a foundation member of the party in the state. These people went through the back door and brought a two-man executive. Since these two men came, they have been violating the party’s constitution. The party should listen to us or the party would fail in the state.”
Wike, after the meeting, insisted that there was peace in the state PDP.
“There is peace in the party in the state,” he said in a brief interview after the meeting.

Some of the protesters later went to the national headquarters of the party, where they were addressed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh.
While addressing them, Metuh assured them that the party leadership would not allow the imposition of candidates on members in any state of the federation.
The PDP spokesman maintained that the party members would be given the opportunity to elect and nominate aspirants of their choice who would eventually become the party’s candidate for elections in 2015.

WHO declares Nigeria, Senegal free of disease this week

Sex could keep the Ebola epidemic alive even after the World Health Organization (WHO)
declares an area free of the disease, one of the discoverers of the deadly virus said
yesterday. The WHO is hoping to announce later this week that Nigeria and Senegal are free
of Ebola after 42 days with no infections, the standard period for declaring an outbreak over,
twice the maximum 21-day incubation period of the virus.

However, it appears the disease can last much longer in semen. “In a convalescent male, the
virus can persist in semen for at least 70 days; one study suggests persistence for more than
90 days,” the WHO said in an information note on Monday.

“Certainly, the advice has to be for survivors to use a condom, to not have unprotected sex,
for 90 days,” said Peter Piot, a professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical
Medicine and a discoverer of Ebola in 1976.

“If we would apply the rule for double the time, that would be 180 days, six months. I think it
(90 days) is probably a compromise, for practicality,” he told a news conference in Geneva.
Ebola spreads via bodily fluids such as blood and saliva, but it has also been detected in
breast milk and urine, as well as semen, the WHO said. The whole live virus has never been
isolated from sweat, however.

More than 3,400 people are already known to have died in the world’s worst Ebola outbreak
on record, the vast majority of them in three West African countries: Guinea, Liberia and
Sierra Leone.

Source: sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=85139
Hello @ Respectnelson

Hello all....

It is misleading for the Ministry of Health to give the impression to people that Nigeria is entirely free of Ebola Virus, because just like the very deadly Lassa Virus and Marburg Virus, Ebola Virus still remains in the kidney system/urine/s.emen for up to 3 months after traces of Ebola virus has disappeared from the blood system.

So all the men and women who had contracted ebola and lassa virus fever in Nigeria and around the
world can still infect their family members and the public after urinating or having s.ex and the hands are NOT properly
washed/disinfected.

Please take note everyone. smiley

simpleseyi: With an outlandish expenditure of N174bn, the government had aimed to bring the nation’s airports at par with their counterparts in the developed world, but passengers who use the busiest of the facilities in Lagos are not impressed with the work done so far, UDEME EKWERE writes

Passengers who regularly use the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos are not impressed with the state of facilities at the nation’s gateway despite the multi-billion naira remodelling carried out on the airport and others across the country.

The passengers are particularly not happy because of the high level of discomfort they are experiencing at the edifice.

It was gathered that some of the new facilities were no longer functioning properly, while others had falling into a state of disrepair.

For instance, passengers complained that the air-conditioning system at the arrival hall of the MMIA now worked abnormally, and that visitors coming into the country were being confronted with embarrassing heat at the lounge and up to the immigration point.

They also alleged that some parts of the roof were leaking, especially whenever it rained.

The recently fixed toilets, the passengers lamented, had become faulty as those, who wanted to make use of the conveniences, were being confronted with unpleasant sights.

Some of the passengers, who spoke in separate interviews with our correspondent, decried the failing facilities at the airport, adding that it was too soon for it to be in a bad shape after the much touted remodelling.

They said that having spent huge sums of tax payers’ funds to restructure the airport, it should not be uncomfortable for users.

A passenger, who just returned from Dubai, Mr. Isaac Femina, said he was disappointed that some of the facilities at the airport were returning to their old state.

He said, “I really don’t know why things do not work well in this country. It has not been long since we were talking about the huge amount of money spent on remodelling the airport; and now, you’ll notice that some facilities are not in proper working order.

“For example, the walkway belt, the one that propels you to move faster at the arrival lounge is not working anymore; if you get on it now, it is as if you are just walking on the bare floor. This should not be; it is too soon.”

Mr. Kunle Stephen, a businessman who shuttles between Lagos and the United Kingdom, said apart from the fact that there were some spots where the roof was leaking, the air-conditioning units around the luggage area were not working well.

Stephen said, “It is quite unfortunate, because you just see on paper that so much has been spent on repairs yet it doesn’t seem like anything is working. Imagine the ACs that should be the first thing that should work well are not. The other day, it was raining here in Nigeria when we got in and some parts of the roof were leaking! To say the least, I was embarrassed.

“To make matters worse, I came to Lagos with my spouse sometime last month and she had to use the toilet on arrival. But she ran out a few seconds later, saying she would manage till we get to town, because the whole place was leaking and there was water on the floor; it is really sad.”

Another passenger, Mrs. Toluwalase Jacob, said that even though she was a little impressed by some of the noticeable changes at the airport, she hoped the issue of the air-conditioning system would be sorted out soon.

She said, “Well, I think there have been some improvements with the work that has gone on here, because when I came in to Nigeria from London late last year, the situation was really terrible.

“It seems a little better now, but I hope they will look into the issue of the air-conditioning system so that the air will not feel so polluted all the time.”

A top official of the Aviation ministry, who did not want his name mentioned because he was not authorised to speak on the issue, said that it was not unusual for some of the infrastructure to wear out after a while, because of continuous usage.

He said, “Of course, you can’t expect the facilities to remain just the way they were because people are making use of them every day, and you know that some people are not very careful in their handling of public property.

“Also, it is important for you to know that the work is not done yet at the airport; it is still ongoing; there are still a few things that need to be put in place, and when it is done, I am sure that the passengers and airport users will be more comfortable than they are at present.”

Commenting on the development, the spokesperson, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mr. Yakubu Dati, said some construction work was still ongoing at the airport, which could have accounted for some of the difficulties that passengers were experiencing at the moment.

He said that on completion, users of the airport would not face as much inconvenience as they were currently encountering.

Dati said, “We are constructing the upper walkway at the arrival hall and the leakage is due to the construction work at the upper deck. When completed, the upper and lower decks will serve the arriving and departing passengers, respectively.

“That way, arriving and departing passengers will not meet as is presently the case. We apologise for the inconveniences this is causing.”

Over N174bn has been spent by the Federal Government on airport remodelling across the country in the last three years.

Following the removal of the former Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, there had been fears that the projects, which she initiated, would be abandoned due to inadequate funding.

However, the then Supervising Minister of Aviation, Dr. Samuel Ortom, had assured Nigerians that the ministry was making adequate efforts to ensure that the projects were completed within the stipulated period.

He had said, “I want to assure Nigerians that the projects will be completed. The projects are part of the aviation master plan dully approved by the Federal Executive Council. Every single project that was started in the phase one, two and three of the remodelling plan will be completed. It is a matter of stepping up our revenue generation.

“We have massive opportunities and if we are able to close the gap, we will generate enough revenue, and with additional funding from the Federal Government, we will execute the projects. I want to allay the fears of Nigerians that the projects won’t be abandoned. The debts and commitment are there but you can see the massive work going on in the aviation industry today.

“That justifies the N174bn debt. Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day and there is no way we think we can generate this money within a week. But we intend not to embark on new projects so we can concentrate our energies and ensure we complete the projects started by my predecessor.”

This is a REAL Stella Wonder.

Next time, it is real aviation professionals [Osita Chidoka is NOT even an Aviation professional]
that should be used as Aviation Ministers - NOT political appointees!

This will help to minimize mediocre jobs and infrastructure in the aviation industry... angry angry

As revealed by The News Magazine of October 29, 2012, Stella is known to have employed via a recruitment
agency fresh people - more than 60% of them whose names were listed in the magazine article were
from her ethnic group in sensitive positions. The contractors that were used the so-called construction
works at the airports were NOT revealed or known to those in the aviation industry.

A senior member of the Airport labour union from Stella's ethnicity[Igbo] even confirmed
the irregularities listed in The News Magazine articles of October 29, 2012. GEJ will never have her
probed until he is removed from office by another political party.

Why won't there be inflation of contracts? - ehn - tell me... angry

@PrinceNwokeji

This man in my opinion is the WORSE Health Minister in living memory in Nigeria!

He was incomprehensible/inarticulate [sent mixed messages on national television several times], and
wasn't pro-active in preventing ebola from coming into Nigeria after lying on AIT and other stations
as far back as April 2014 that measures had been put in place to prevent ebola from getting into
Nigeria while Patrick Sawyer came into Nigeria on July 20, 2014.[I saw this on TV myself].

This man called Prof. Onyebuchi has NOT even apologised to Nigerians for allowing ebola into
Nigeria via Lagos international airport without the provision of a single isolation unit at the Murtala Mohd

He thinks all Nigerians are simpletons, so he can pull the wool over our eyes by accusing or blaming Patrick

Foreign Affairs › Re: Death toll of South Africans Killed In Nigeria Megachurch Collapse rises to 84 by Konquest:
chelseabmw: PRETORIA - South African President Jacob Zuma announced Tuesday that 67 South Africans died in a building collapse in Nigeria's financial capital Lagos.

"I am greatly saddened to announce that 67 South Africans died and scores of others sustained injuries, after a building at the Synagogue Church of All Nations collapsed on Friday," Zuma said in statement to the nation.

Rescuers say the church's hostel, which housed Nigerian and foreign followers of a popular preacher and televangelist, T.B. Joshua, had been overburdened by the construction of additional floors.

At least five South African church tour groups were at the Synagogue at the time of the collapse, according to officials.

The number of South African dead exceeds the previously known toll for the disaster, a grim signal that the number of fatalities may rise further.

Zuma said South Africa was grieving after the tragedy nearly a continent away.

"Not in the recent history of our country have we had this large number of our people die in one incident outside the country.

"Our thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues that have lost their loved ones in this heart-breaking tragedy.

"The whole nation shares the pain of the mothers, fathers, daughters and sons who have lost their loved ones. We are all in grief."

Zuma said he had ordered government departments to help family members get to Nigeria to identify the bodies of their loved ones, and repatriate the remains as soon as possible.

Which of the "Lagos" are you refering to?

[1] Lagos Island [the Island of Lagos]? or [2] Lagos State?

The former British administrative capital of Nigeria was located in the Marina axis of Lagos Island [the island of Lagos]
till 1991.

An Lagosian is an indigene of Lagos Island! An indigene of Lagos State from the Ijebu axis [Epe LGA, Ikorodu LGA, and
Ibeju-Lekki LGA] will NOT agree to being called Lagosians. They are LAGOS Ijebu.

Someone who lives in Lagos is a Lagos RESIDENT and NOT a LAGOSIAN. Funny enough, I have heard Gov. Fashola - and indigene

time, an indigene of Lagos Island is a Lagosian. By the way, I'm in my 40s and find it strange that Gov. Fashola makes that
that mistake like some others do - which simply means that on the subconscious level he has also been infected by the

Health › Re: Ebola: Why Is Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu (minister For Health)still Keeping His Job? by Konquest: 12:44pm On Sep 17, 2014
jpphilips: I ask this question because the last time Nigerians lost their lives in droves in the Hands of Boko haram loads of officials in the defense ministry were either, retired or dismissed.

One may think that this "Ebola soon to be an epidemic" in Nigeria is an act of "god", in the parlance of the religious pundits, but then, if the facts before us are carefully subjected through the clinical prognosis of common sense, a whole lot of discerning minds will agree completely with me that Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, does not deserve to be addressed as a minister of this great republic.

I personally could still remember vividly few months ago when Jakumo opened a thread on how close this virus is to Nigeria, of course, we don't expect a "whole" professor and "Minister" to have time for a microcosm like Nairaland which happens to be a representation of a microscopic Nigerian populace.

What bothered me greatly, was the Fact that news agencies Like CNN, Aljazeera and the BBC have been releasing updates on the spread and the WHO efforts in containing the scourge, yet our Amiable prof, and unfortunate minister was too big to turn on the Television.

At the very least appeal for leniency in any sane nation where common sense has not been torpedoed by tribal and political sentiments, the WHO news bulletin of 29th July 2012 is an evidence of gross neglect by the health minister, between 1st of August 2012 to 20th of August 2012, Ebola has spread through three West African countries (Uganda, sierra Leone and the Congo) respectively.
Even if this unfortunate Minister is Allergic to Television, does it mean that a serving health minister does not even read the WHO news bulletin?
it is absurd, opprobrious and totally unacceptable, this nation is sinking very fast with the crop of inefficiencies it is parading as public officers.

A careful perusal of the 2013 budget, revealed that Our unfortunate minister budgeted 74,980,348naira for magazines and journals, little did we know that he finds it difficult to keep abreast with WHO news bulletin which happens to be FREE online.
Do I need to mention that the same Inefficiency of this man is the major reason, doctors have been on strike.

Find below an excerpt quote from a breakdown in the 2013 budget, and how much we have spent so far, does it not amaze Nigerians that all entry points in this country have no emergency response strategy even when a contagious virus was just few thousands kilometers away? Pay attention to the bold parts, where our revered Minister listed familiar epidemics, but his so out of touch with the reality across his border probably undermined a deadly virus like Ebola, need I remind us that this column of Prof chukwu's budget is costing the Nigerian Tax payers 480,416,005:

The inefficiencies in the north eastern part of the country is the reason over 5,000 irreplaceable lives have been lost, yet Nigerians are folding arms hoping on God. The Saudi Arabian Government in April fired its health minister Abdullah al Rabiah at the outbreak of the mers corona virus, we should at this point learn the need for a level of discipline to be enshrined in our public servants.

If Nigerians let this dark era of our history slide without Consequences, then I will believe that we as a nation lack knowledgeable people, we will lose all moral right to ask a Mikel who could not complete a pass while Doning the National Jersey,to score goals in a an international tournament.

After the last weeks denial that no Nigerian is infected with the deadly virus, it baffled and tore my heart to shreds that a man who is conferred upon him with the highest title in the Academic world, could go on air to make such premature claim on the Viral spread, ignoring completely the fact that the incubation period of the virus is between 2 to 21 days. I doubt if Professor chukwu actually passed through a trado medicine class let alone the college of Medicine.

Here is WHO's assessment of the Nigerian situation, it clearly states that four people are already down with the virus as at 1st of august,2014 which includes a nurse.

If this is not a clear case of an Administrator who has lost touch with the reality in his ministry, I wonder what is?

perhaps most Nigerians are oblivious of the fact that Senegal and Cote d Ivore geographically located closest to the Epicenter, till August this year, are yet to register a single Ebola case.

Prof. Onyebuchi chukwu should go back to school because evidently, Politics and administration is no where near his miniature talents, President Jonathan should kindly do the needful in the interest of public safety.

Ebola has been in Africa since 1976, no African country bothered to look for a cure, in 2003 the United states DOD (God bless America Anyways!!) supported its research with a meager $25m and today they have Zmapp, guess what you have; Begging and ranting on the internet, shameless fvcktards!!,

Is it $25m we cant afford? or a research center that private companies own? what exactly is the problem with Africans and Nigerians?
the money stolen from NNPC in a year is enough to get these things done yet we are here whining over America this, America that.
Look at the clown you have as a health minister, he sounds so confused, looks helpless, talks like a mechanic.

Do I blame him? of course not, instead of the President giving him a query for such unprofessional comment, the confused president was calling late Patrick sawyer names, as if he has a panel to face in resurrection.

Onyebuchi chukwu is a disgrace to Medicine, he told us that all the 8 Ebola quarantine patients are stable and responding to treatment, two days on; Justina the Nurse died.

Before July, there was neither an Infra red thermometer nor a bio hazard suit in any entry point in this country, yet Nigerians are blaming the United states!!

How about demanding professionalism and accountability from people who pilot the affairs of this nation?

How can the Minister tell Nigerians that he has a "drug" Nano silver for our Ebola patients, you people don't know the kinda mess these guys are making till you become a victim, what stops Chukwu from getting clarification from FDA first before coming to misinform Nigerians? it took the Intervention of the FDA for Chukwu to agree to proceed with the recommendation of his committee, these are the kinda fvcktards we have in power and you expect serious countries to take us seriously?

A f00l who saw the test report of the Doctor and claim she has survived Ebola while WHO is saying she is a false positive, meaning she never had the Ebola virus, thank God for WHO quarantine guide lines, Chukwu would have infected her there, meanwhile, has already set Nigerians on a jubilation frenzy that one of theirs have survived the lethal virus, how worse can this shameless man get?

Lagos state (our Ebola Epicenter) is yet to receive a dime from the $11m intervention fund, yet, people are still holding America by the jugular,

The minister must go!!

[b]I agree more than 100% with every WORD YOU typed there! The mediocrity and sycopancy being displayed by some citizens of
Nigeria and Government officials has to stop for progress and development to take place.

GEJ too had tried to DECEIVE and DIVERT the attention of Nigerians by calling Sawyer a "crazy man" and a "mad man" on national
and international television - which is very unpresidential and very bad of this president for insulting a dead man and pointing his
finger at his head and simulated a twisted finger showing a mentally unbalanced man. GEJ who jumps from one church to another
should ask his god for forgiveness!

Imagine a PhD holder who is a president embarassing Nigeria - when he is SUPPOSED to have known that people infected with Ebola virus disease, Lassa virus [Lassa fever], Marburg virus, West Nile virus, etc, ARE NOT AWARE OF THEIR ACTIONS! So, Patrick Sawyer was NOT FULLY aware of his actions such as urinating on his bed and detaching the drip needle from his veins and spilling blood on his bed at 1st Consultants Hospital in Lagos!

Usually the symptoms of all the viruses are the SAME and infected victims always display MASSIVE NEUROLOGICAL INSTABILITY, SERIOUS IRRITABILITY AND UNCONTROLLED AGGRESSION, GENERAL WEAKNESS, BLEEDING GUMS, BLEEDING ANAL REGION, VOMITING... and more!

GEJ and Onyebuchi Chukwu have to APOLOGISE to Nigerians for killing the Nigerian ebola victims by allowing ebola into Nigeria via an- international gateway - and eventually if he doesn't apologise - we reserve the right to GET HIM OUT of office next year.

IN FACT the Ijaws of Bayelsa and elsewhere have far BETTER presidential materials than this man [GEJ] - it was just
providence that brought him into power.

Health Minister, Onyebuchi Chukwu indeed deserves commendation. In the wake of Ebola from AMERICAN-liberian Patrick Sawyer, the Health Minister swung into action. Tho it was shaky af first due to the seeming unpreparedness of everybody. He fought Ebola to a standstill, convening meetings here and there, giving directives on things, working with the Lagos state government and other states and notably providing up to date information to give public insight and calm tension. As at today we have no case of Ebola in the country. Our hearts go out to those who lost loved ones, but it would have been more but for the hard work of the health minister and his team.

I am not a politician, but I think every good work deserves commendation.

Now to the man who fought hard to fight Ebola for his country, I say well done.

Again commendation shd go to all the doctors and medical practitioners in all areas of the field, and to all Nigerians who have been using hand sanitizers to ensure they protect themselves.

Well done!!!!!!!!!!
[b]@ALL @ uchedydy

Onyebuchi Chukwu will ONLY get 1% from me because he allowed ebola into Nigeria via a National gateway [Murtala Mohd. Airport in Lagos]after he lied earlier this year in the media [AIT et al] that measures had been taken by the Federal government to curtail ebola's spread to Nigeria .

Second. It was ONLY on Wednesday 27th of August that the so-called N200million was received by the Lagos State government as confirmed by Gov. Fashola.

This was after Patrick Sawyer arrived on Sunday 20th July 2014 and died 4 days later of Ebola complications - a full 1 month
7 days later after Lagos State had used its resources to single-handedly manage the situation - and even NOW Rivers State has also NOT got any money or N200million from the Federal Ministry of Health.

Prof Onyebuchi has a habit - along with Labaran Maku of using propaganda and trying to take credit for ebola's so-called "containment" IN LATE August 2014 - just 2 days before the PH EBOLA DEATH was announced [Dr. Jide Idris professionally disagreed with the use of the word containment on TVC] but according to the medical doctors and volunteers who treated the ebola patients back to health, Prof Onyebuchi NEVER visit the facility in Lagos!

Dr. Jide Idris [the Lagos State commisioner of Health] and Dr. Stella Adadevoh graduated in 1980 at the same time from LUTH College of Medicine - while Onyebuchi Chukwu was still an 18-year-old boy in secondary school and are professionally his senior in the medical profession! Onyebuchi Chukwu is just a political appointee - and I found his communication style on TV to be confusing and muddled up.
He had NO good communication skills which a minister of his calibre should have. Fela's older brother, Prof Olikoye Ransome-Kuti never spoke
tongue-in-cheek and was always lucid in his communication[He and the Kuti family graciously announced to Nigerians and the world that Fela
passed on as a result of the complications from HIV!]

I must add that the people on the front lines are to be given more credit than this minister of health who I consider to be the worst minister of health in recent memory - I'm in my 40s and and can conveniently prove this.

The people on the front lines in Lagos such as the Members of WHO, Nigerian Volunteers and medical doctors, member of the CENTRE FOR DISEASE CONTROL USA, Dr. Adadevoh and her staff, Lagos State Government for providing the money that was used to treat ebola patients single-handed without Federal Support until they got a belated N200 million on Wednesday 27th August 2014 after ebola in Lagos had been sucessfully managed DESERVE TO BE COMMENDED NOT Onyebuchi Chukwu WHO ONLY takes information collected from the Lagos and PH Commisioners of Health and then goes on National TV to take credit for what he has NOT been involved in.

@ojekof

I'm surprised that you are refering to this minister of health called Onyebuchi Chuckwu as a hard working[sic].
This is a celebration of mediocrity!

I consider this current minister of health to be highly incompentent - his pronouncements on the Nano Silver which has been in use
abroad are highly inconsistent and incoherent!

This man lied to and deceived Nigerians and Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu and the Federal Government led by GEJ allowed ebola into Nigeria via Murtala Mohd. International Aiport [which is a FEDERAL or NATION gateway] because this same minister of health had earlier falsely assured Nigerians on AIT, Channels TV, TVC and NTA network news as far back as April and May 2014 that the Government had put in place neccessary measures to prevent EBOLA from getting into Nigeria!

In a very unpresidential manner, Goodluck Jonathan was shown on international television [such as BBC Television] trying to DIVERT ATTENTION from taking RESPONSIBILITY by referring to Patrick Sawyer as a "MAD MAN." If the FG led by Jonathan had been pro-active enough and the Health Minister who should be assisting President Jonathan with information had "imagination and foresight" ebola would NOT have entered Nigeria, despite the fact that a LOT of TV stations in Nigeria, medical practitioners and Nigerians had called on the Federal Government - led by Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu's Ministry of Health to be proactive as far back as March/April 2014.

If an armed robbers or TERRORISTS write a letters to a residential areas indicating that they are coming for a raid, would people
just sit down hoping nothing potential murderers and rapists would come to wreck havoc? It would be STUPID of anyone to take such threats lightly!

We still have Lassa Fever which kills in 10-12 days from the time of infection to deal with since the first discovery in Nigeria [Lassa Vilage] in 1969 to deal with.

[b]Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu repeated the same LIE when he came back from Ghana in mid-July 2014 after having a meeting with the West African sub-region Health Ministers shortly after ebola broke out in Guinea in February 2014. This guy [who was born in April 1962] and his Ministry of Health team that travelled to Ghana collected estacodes and I'm surprised that some people have allowed themselves to be seduced into thinking that he is doing a good work now simply because he started running HELTER SKELTER [up and down] after allowing ebola into Nigeria!

Infact in a SANE society Nigerias minister of Health would have been sacked based on his false assurances to Nigerians months
before ebola hit Lagos! The Nigerian Government is GUILTY and should NOT blame Patrick Sawyer for anything and should take responsibility
and pay FULL COMPENSATIONS to First Consultants Hospital and the families of those 4 Nigerians who displayed gallantry and died in Nigeria of Ebola Virus.

With all the money Nigeria has - if Onyebuchi Chukwu and his team had put in place Isolation Centres with thermographs and body scanners for detecting body temperature above 37 degrees centigrade at strategic locations such as the International Airports and the main land borders, Patrick Sawyer would have been detected on time and those gallant Nigerians who died would NOT have died from ebola infection!
Port Harcourt International Airport as I type this is still NOT properly equipped for any ebola detection or Isolation Centres - yet Nigerian Federal Government is showing off by giving over $3million to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to combat ebola![It is good to give or share if YOU can but take care of yourself first]. [/b]

I will say that The First Consultant Medical Centre Team in Obalende, Ikoyi [Doctors, Matron, Nurses], LUTH and The Redeemers University Team led by Prof Christian Happi that accurately detected Ebola 3-4 days after Patrick Sawyer first arrived Lagos, Nigeria on Sunday 20th July 2014, Governor Fashola of Lagos, Dr. Jide Idris Commissioner of Health of Lagos state and the other doctors, nurses and volunteers in the front line at Mainland hospital are the REAL PEOPLE to thank for a job well done!

As of August 16th 2014, Vanguard quotes Fashola as saying:
