bsaying:
Today, i decided to go sell off my ipad 3 and ipad 2 which i didn't frequently use,the ipad 3 has a cracked screen and the ipad 2 was fully functional... so i headed out to emeka offor's plaza from my place in asaba, i was filled with so much enthusiasm and optimism even though today was my first day of selling a gadget in a market like that..
Upon my arrival to the market, just at the entrance, i met two boys who asked if i came to repair or sell, i told them i wanna sell, they said i should follow them, we got to a shop and they asked the guy if he was interested and the guy nodded and said he was, then they said lets go and check if the gadgets had faults, we got to another shop and the guy said he would check for the faults by scanning with a laptop, he said it was #20 for each faults the system detects, before he started the scan i told him i only had 900naira on me as my tfare back to asaba and didnt have much to pay for scan, he went ahead because he had a plan in mind, at the end of the scan for the two devices, the total price came out as 17980naira...Jesus Christ i screamed, he said, bros am done with the scan and repair, i was like which repairhuh Immediately the whole boys started gathering and saying bros "give the engineer im money na"
My head was full, i was angry and felt cheated, knowing fully well he did nothing but just run a normal scan which i witnessed...
I continously begged the guy and the boys there, even with igbo language but to no avail, at the end of the day, the engineer who has been admiring my blackberry Z10 now said i should sell my bb Z10 to him for 10k and he will balance me 5k or i drop the two ipads and go to asaba and bring his 17k,they had already seized the two ipads and threatened to call market security, i ended up selling the bb Z10 which i had and went home with 5k and still didnt sell the two ipads.....
Am angry and making this thread from the bus on my way home...
Will i like to do business with an igbo man again?? No......

Politics › Re: Biafra: Why Are Obasanjo, IBB, Others Not Talking On Agitation? – Doyin Okupe by Konquest: 12:46pm On Jun 23, 2017
BackToLife:
It's quite annoying how igbos try to take other people as being eternally stupid. igbos got Nigeria into this quagmire today by starting and infecting other region with their selfish blood shedding and calous betrayals. On January 29, 1966, Major Ifeajuna and Major Kaduna Izeogwu and other igbos were the ones that originally masterminded and planned the first coup in Nigeria. They diceived Northern and Western Soldiers into an agreement that the igbos have planned to kill their own leaders, so others should do likewise. While other regions carried out the plan, the ever deceitful, greedy and unreliable igbos made Agunyi Ironsi Head of States and protected Azikwe and others. If they get Biafra, igbos planned to greedily hijack NigerDelta Oil just like they positioned themselves over all SS during biafra war; 1967-1970. They thought they'll be allowed to still keep lands and properties in North and South West that they acquired by importing and selling substandard goods shortchanging people. The Hausa plan(leaked audio call) that came out few weeks ago shocked them and they now know they'll never be allowed in other parts after secession from, Nigeria, hence igbos are no more seriously talking biafra. But their evil seed was sown in 1966, only GOD can restore brotherly trust into Nigeria. Yoruba and Igbos are destined to make Nigeria great and to jointly rule Nigeria, but igbos greed and myhopic selfishness...

Point of correction smiley

YOU POSTED this Sentence: "They deceived Northern and Western Soldiers into an agreement that the igbos have planned to kill their own leaders, so others should do likewise. While other regions carried out the plan..."

THERE was NO such agreement between the 1st 1966 Coup Plotters with other
regions' Northern and Western Soldiers to kill THEIR OWN leaders. It was the majorly
Ibo-speaking coup plotters that directly opened fire or KILLED the Northern, Western
and Mid-Western [Okotie-Eboh who was killed was Itsekiri] Political leaders. They left
their own Eastern or Ibo-speaking leaders alone.

Major Kaduna Nzeogwu who was from Okpanam, in Oshimili North of Delta State actually
accused the other Coup plotters [from the core Ibo East of River Niger] of Tribalism because
the plan was to eliminate the top leaders of all the 4 Regions. I believe Nzeogwu.

Since the early 1980s, I have read a lot of books written by the Nigerian Civil
War veterans such as Gen. Obasanjo, Brig. Gen. Alabi-Isama, Alexander Madiebo[the
2nd commander of the Secessionist Rebels, "Sunset in Biafra" by Captain Elechi Amadi
an Ikwerre man from Port Harcourt who was imprisoned by the rebels for refusing to
fight on their side. With the liberation of Port Harcourt by FEDERAL TROOPS of the
iconic 3rd Marine Commando Division on 26 July 1967, he was RESCUED and he later
fought on the side of Nigeria - and many more, in order to get a bigger picture of all
the events leading right up to the start of the war 6 July 1967 – 15 January 1970].
Culture › Re: Common Yoruba Words Borrowed From Arabic by Konquest: 12:01pm On Jun 23, 2017
TheArbiter:
The Arabic roots of many contemporary Yoruba words has been investigated. Titled “On Arabic Loans in Yoruba,” it was written by Professor Sergio Baldi, a well-regarded Italian linguist, who presented it at the Annual Conference on African Linguistics in California, USA, in March 1995.

Below are excerpts from the article as presented by Farooq A. Kperogi. To download a copy or read the complete article CLICK HERE.

1. Abere. This Yoruba word for “needle” traces its etymology to the Arabic “ai-bra,” which also means needle.

2. Adura. This is the Yoruba word for prayers. In fact, there is a popular syncretic Christian sect in Yorubaland that goes by the name “aladura,” meaning “people who pray” or “praying people.” Many other northern and central Nigerian languages have some version of this word to denote prayers. It is derived from the Arabic “du’a,” which also means prayers.

3. Alubosa. This Yoruba word for “onion” was borrowed from the Hausa “albasa,” which in turn borrowed it from the Arabic “al-basal.”

4. Alufa/Alfa. This is a widely used word for a Muslim scholar (and occasionally any Muslim) not just in Yorubaland but in Nupeland, Borgu, Igalaland, Ebiraland, etc. It is now increasingly used by Yoruba Muslim women as a term of respect for their husbands.

Surprisingly, the word is absent in the Hausa language. It came as no surprise therefore when Professor Baldi suggested that the word came to the Yoruba language—and many other central Nigerian languages—through the Songhai. It is derived from the Arabic “khalifah,” which means a “successor” or a “representative” (of the prophet of Islam). It was first corrupted to “Alfa” by the Songhai who later exported their version of the word to western and central Nigeria—and to other parts of West Africa. Many Songhai were itinerant Islamic preachers who traveled all over West Africa.

5. Atele/itele. It means “following” in Yoruba, and it is derived from “at-talin,” which also means “following” in Arabic.

6. Amodi. It means “disease” in Yoruba and is derived from “al-marad,” the Arabic word for disease.

7. “Amo.” It is a conjunction in Yoruba, which performs the same function that the word “but” performs in English; it introduces contrast. It is rendered as “amma” in Hausa, which is the way it is rendered in its original Arabic form.

8. Anfani. This Yoruba word for “utility” or “importance” also occurs in Hausa, Batonu, and many northern and central Nigerian languages. It is derived from the Arabic “naf,” which means “advantage, profit.”

9. Ara/ apaara. The word means "thunder" in Yoruba, and is derived from the Arabic “ar-ra’d.”

10. Asiri. It means “secret” in Yoruba, Hausa, and in many other Nigerian languages. It is derived from the Arabic “as-sirr” where it also means “secret.”

11. Barika. This is the Yoruba word for “congratulations.” It is rendered as “barka” in Hausa. The word’s original Arabic form is “al-baraka,” which means “greetings.”

12. Borokinni. It means a “gentleman, respected man in a secure financial position.” The word is also found in many Borgu languages, such as Batonu and Bokobaru, where “boro” means a “friend.” It is derived from the Arabic “rukn,” which means “support, corner, basic element.”

13. Faari. It means “showing off” or “boastfulness” or “ostentatious display” in Yoruba. It has the same meaning in many Borgu languages. It is derived from the Arabic “fakhr,” which means “glory, pride, honor.” (Note that “kh” is a guttural sound in Arabic, which is close to a hard “h” in English. That sound was dropped by Nigerian languages).

14. Fitila. It means any kind of lamp. Its roots are located in the Arabic word for lamp, which is “fatil.”

15. Ijamba. Professor Baldi defines this word as “bodily harm,” but the meaning of the word I’m familiar with is one that associates it with cunning, cheating, deceit. It is derived from the Arabic “danb,” or “danba,” which means “sin, crime.” (Note that Arabic frequently dispenses with end vowels (that is, a, e, i, o, and u) in words, whereas many Nigerian languages almost always end words with a vowel—and add them to words they borrow from other languages if such words lack an end vowel).

16. Imale. This is the Yoruba word for “Muslim.” I read previous interpretations of this word from Yoruba scholars who say it is Yoruba for “that which is difficult” to underscore the difficulty of Islamic practices like praying five times a day, fasting for 30 days during Ramadan, etc. Other Yoruba scholars said the word initially denoted “people from Mali” since the Songhai people who Islamized Yoruba land in the 15th century were from Mali.

But Baldi argues that “imale” is the corruption of the Arabic “Mu’alim,” which means a teacher. In the Hausa language, the word is rendered as Maalam. It’s interesting that “Mallam” has become the synonym for Hausa (or northern) Muslim in southern Nigeria.

17. Iwaju. It’s the Yoruba word for “front part.” I didn’t imagine that this word had an Arabic origin until I read Baldi’s article. It is derived from the Arabic “al-wajh,” which means “front” or “face.”

18. Iwaasu. It is the Yoruba term for “preaching” or “sermon.” It is used by both Christians and Muslims in Yorubaland, and is derived from the Arabic “waz,” which means “admonition” or “sermon.” (The Yoruba language has no “z” sound, so it substitutes “z” with “s” when it borrows words from other languages with “z” sounds).

19. Suuru. It means “patience” not only in Yoruba but in many languages in central and northern Nigeria. It is derived from the Arabic “sabr,” which also means “patience.”

20. Talaka. It means the poor. It came to Yoruba by way of Hausa, which borrowed it from the Tuareg (where it is rendered as "taleqque" and where it means “a poor woman”). It’s also used in Mandingo, Songhai languages, Kanuri, Teda, and many West African languages. Baldi says this word has no Arabic origins. On the surface, this may be true. After all, the Arabic word for a poor person is “fakir” (plural: “fuqura”).

However, “talaq,” as most Muslims know, is the Arabic word for divorce. (The chapter of the Qur'an that deals with the subject of divorce is called Suratul Talaq). Talaq is derived from the verb “talaqa,” which means to “disown,” to “repudiate.” In times past (and it’s still the case today in many Muslim societies) if a woman was divorced, she was invariably thrown into poverty. Thus, Tuaregs used the term “taleqque” to denote a “poor woman.” But Hausa, Kanuri, Yoruba, Mandingo, and other West African languages expanded the original Tuareg meaning of the word to include every poor person. This is my theory.

21. Tobi. This Yoruba word for “women’s knickers” is derived from the Arabic “taub,” which means “garment,” “dress,” “cloth.” Another tonal variation of this word leads to a different Yoruba word, which means “big.”

22. Wahala. Well, this isn’t just a Yoruba word by way of Hausa; it’s made its way into most Nigerian languages—and into West African Pidgin English. It means “trouble,” and it’s derived from the Arabic “wahla,” which means “fright,” “terror.”

Nice post on the Arabic influence on the Yoruba language... grin

Many languages have loan words in them.

It may interest you all to know that the Spanish language has
up to 40% of words loaned from Arabic words due to the
invasion of the Iberian Peninsula [Spain and Portugal] by
the Moors and Arabs who lived there for over 700 years
before Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand led their
forces to eject the Muslim Moors from Spain in 1492!

In fact Arabic language evolved a lot from the Aramaic language
which was the universal language of the Persian Empire.

From selfies to causing trouble on Facebook and sometimes being savages on twitter, keeping up with our favorite Celebs and trolling them once in a while grin Our smartphone helps us to all that. Apart from all that, there are a couple of amazing things your smartphone could do that you never knew.

1. Function As A 3D scanner

The Institute for Visual Computing at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) created an app that lets you scan a 3D object by simply moving your smartphone around it. A 3D model of the object appears on the screen and shows you whether you missed anything. It can also determine the absolute size of the scanned object. You can use this app to capture faces for 3D portraits or simply to copy real-world objects for later study or 3D printing.

E.g - 3DSCANN

2. Test for STDs

A dongle or attachment which performs the functions of a lab-based blood test—specifically, an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)—to test for HIV antibodies and two types of syphilis antibodies can be plugged in to a smartphone. Researchers have recently tested it in Clinics in Rwanda that work to prevent mother-to-child-transmission and in voluntary counseling and testing centers. It costs just $34 unlike the $18,450 for the original ELISA equipment, this device could aid in early diagnosis and treatment of these illnesses in developing countries.

(not yet available for public use)

3. Give You Instant Eyeglass Prescriptions

Having issues with your eyes? Don't worry, Smart Vision Labs developed the SVOne, a pocket-sized device that can measure the refractive errors in the eye and shows you a digital eyeglass prescription on your smart phone.

The company founders want the app to be used by doctors with multiple offices or limited space and to serve patients who have problems with traditional machinery or have difficulties with mobility. It'll really work out in many developing countries where millions lack eye care. According to the World Health Organization, 90 percent of the world’s visually impaired people live in low-income settings with no eye doctors available and that uncorrected refractive errors are the main cause of moderate and severe visual impairment globally.

E.g - EyeXam

4. Track Your Cholesterol Levels

Engineers at Cornell University developed an app - the Smartphone Cholesterol Application for Rapid Diagnostics, or smartCARD, to test cholesterol levels. You clamp the device, similar to a credit card reader, over your phone's camera then place a drop of your blood, sweat or saliva on the strip. Insert the strip into the device, a built-in flash illuminates the strip and an app matches the image's color values and shows results on the phone.

(app not yet available for public use)

5. Check If You're Mentally Stable grin grin
(actually assess your mental health)

Researchers at Dartmouth University created an Android app that can analyze the smartphone owner’s state of mind. The app automatically measures your sleep duration, number and length of conversations per day, physical activity, locations and time spent there, stress level, eating habits and more—24/7 and without user interaction. It uses Computational method and machine learning algorithms on the phone then assesses the data and make high-level inferences about sleep, sociability, activity, and other behaviors. The app can be used to provide real-time feedback on safety in schools and stress levels and assess the quality of teaching. It can also be used to monitor mental health, trigger intervention, and improve productivity in the workplace as well.

E.g - Mental Health Test App,

6. Help You Stay Away From Alcohol

Hey!! Don't touch that bottle of stout.. wink

The Addiction-Comprehensive Health Enhancement Support System smartphone app has designed for people with alcohol problems and sounds an alert if you stray near a high-risk location, such as a bar they previously frequented. People who used the app reported drinking less. People using the app also were more likely to consistently abstain from alcohol.

e.g - Sobriety,

7. Show You Where Gunshots Originated

Vanderbilt University's group of Researchers turned an Android smartphone into a simple shooter location system. The smartphone app uses external sensors, with the size of a pack of cards, containing microphones and a processor that detects the gunshot’s acoustic signature and exact time. The processor sends that information to the smartphone, and transmits it to other modules and uses triangulation to pinpoint the origin of the gunshot. It would work out well for the Nigerian Police.

(app not yet released for public use yet)

8. Improve Your Hearing Aid

A smartphone app could help improve the quality of life of people who use hearing aids. Most hearing aids in order to remain small and low-cost typically use small processors. Smartphones, on the other hand, have powerful processors, large memories, microphones, speakers, wireless technology and long-lasting batteries, which can improve the performance of hearing assistive devices. For example, a smartphone could run sophisticated algorithms to distinguish background noise signals and enhance speech.

E.g - TextHear, Earshots

The apps added to the posts are just examples not the exact app. The functionalities are almost the same but not exact. Most of the apps are still being tested. You can look them up on YouTube if you need more details and possibly a link

Nairaland General › Re: The Real Fact About The Notorious Kidnapper Evans by Konquest: 12:30pm On Jun 19, 2017
DeBret:
How notorious kidnapper, Evans was caught like a chicken

There was tumultuous ovation and excitement, yesterday, at the Force Headquarters, Kam Salem House, Abuja, and the Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos, after news filtered that the notorious and most dreaded kidnap kingpin in the country, Evans, has been arrested by the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, IRT, inside his bedroom, in the Magodo area of Lagos.

Evans, described as the most notorious, high profile kidnapper – and the richest in Nigeria – was,  at last, unmasked.

Before yesterday’s arrest, the Police had placed a N30million bounty on his head.

When Policemen broke into his room to arrest him, he was said to have sheepishly said, “I know this is the end,m I am finished”.

His real name is Chukwudidumeme Onuamadike, aged 36, and hails from Umudim Village, Nnewi   North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Sunday Vanguard has been made to understand that during preliminary questioning, Evans confessed to having been behind virtually all the high profile kidnap incidents in places including but not limited to Lagos, Port Harcourt, Onitsha, Aba.

His exploits also  included the 2013 attempted kidnapping of the owner of The Young Shall Grow Motors.   He was said to have confessed that the kidnap job was brought to him by one Emeka.

He also confessed that he has two properties in Ghana, one of which is where his wife and five children have reportedly moved into.

Among many items recovered from him  yesterday  during his arrest were expensive phones, one of which is put at a cost of $6,000.

His arrest yesterday, came just few weeks after many members of his gang, including his second and third in command, were rounded up at different locations in the country.

Their arrest came few days after one of their victims,  Donatus Dunu,  a wealthy owner of a pharmaceutical company at Ilupeju, Lagos, escaped miraculously from the hideout where they kept him for months.

He was abducted in front of his office in Ilupeju, on February 14, 2017, after he closed for the day, by gun-totting young men who blocked his car with their SUV and threw him into the booth of the car.

Members of his family later paid about N150m to effect his release.

But the kidnappers insisted on getting N500m.   They threatened to kill their victim if the full ransom was not paid.

Luckily,   few weeks after the payment of the ransom and their consistent threat to kill their victim, Dunu miraculously escaped from their hideout at Igando, a suburb of Lagos.

He, thereafter, alerted security agents who swung into action and started rounding up members of the gang.

information made available to Sunday  Vanguard by very dependable sources suggested that efforts of the police paid off on  Friday  night, after they were able to locate Evans’ where  about, using sophisticated communication gadgets provided by the Inspector-General of Police.

Police sources hinted that while almost all police formations in the country were on red alert trying to locate the notorious kidnap kingpin, the Inspector-General of Police, who was visibly angry with the delay, sent three special teams attached to his office down to Lagos to complement the efforts of those on ground.

It was further  gathered  that the teams came with new sophisticated communication gadgets for the operation.

Intelligence reports had indicated that failure to arrest the Evans was not unconnected with his possession of some state of the art jamming device, which made it easy for him to serially knock off signals that would have enabled men of the force pin him down.

The change in equipment, according to sources, paid off at last, after detectives were able to locate his where about late  Friday  night – even though his telephone sets were already switched off to avoid detection.

He was reportedly traced to his palatial home in Magodo, Lagos, while he had already packed his bags and baggages, ready to fly to South Africa, the next day.

It was gathered that after his arrest, the elated members of the IGP’s team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Philip, immediately alerted their leader, ACP Aba Kyari, who gave the Inspector-General the cheering news.

In Lagos, officers and men of other formations, including civilians, rushed to catch a glimpse of the dare-devil kidnapper that gave them sleepless nights.    It was learned that people even came from far-away Festac and Amuwo-Odofin/Ojo axis where he held sway during his inglorious reign by abducting wealthy men and forcing them to pay not less than N500m before they were set free.    As at the time of going to press, detectives were yet to give access to the suspect but a police source said he may be paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, today.

His Exploits

1 Mbarikatta William Uboma, 35, kidnapped June 16th, 2012, at about  11am,  on his arrival from Hungary, while he was close to his house.

He was in the company of his brother, on their way from the airport, when another car emerged and blocked theirs. They grabbed Uboma, blindfolded him and forcefully abducted him – he was taken to an unknown destination. They later demanded a ransom of N10M. However, N2M was later paid while they collected other personal accessories. He was finally dropped at Okota on the third day.

2. Paul Cole, 34, from Ohafia in Abia State. A Director with Ocean Glory Commodities, Apapa, he was kidnapped on August 3rd, 2012, at Festac Town, together with his General Manager, Jude Ugoje, and another staff, Piriye Gogo, and taken to an unknown destination. They demanded for N10M. On August 6th, 2012, they collected N5M ransom at Maza-maza, before letting  their victim off the hook.

3. Mohammed Jamal, 22, a Lebanese, was kidnapped on August 19, 2012, at Ajah by three armed men, taken away and blindfolded. N7M ransom was later paid at Ojo Barracks.

4. Kingsley Nwokenta, 34, was kidnapped on September 19, 2012,  at Mile two under bridge,  after he left Lebanana Bar, in Festac. Later, he paid N1.5M ransom while they made away with his black Toyota Venza and other accessories.

5. Anthony Ozoanidobi, 41, was kidnapped on October 10th, 2012, along Marwa Road Satellite town. Ransom of N1.5M was paid after which he was released at Apple junction, Amuwo-Odofin

6. Leo Abraham 58, was Kidnapped on August 20, 2012.  He paid ransom of N5M and was later released along Badagry road, Lagos.

7. Ojukwu Cosmas, 45, sells Toyota parts at Aspanda Trade fair. He was kidnapped on January 21, 2016, at Festac town. It was not clear when and how he was released.

8. James Uduji was kidnapped close to his house at 7th Avenue, Festac Town, late last year. Held for 6 six weeks. He paid a ransom of $1M.

9. Chief Raymond Okoye – Odu-Na-Ichida. He was kidnapped in 2015. He also paid $1M as ransom, after being held captive for 2months

10. Uche Okoroafor, a trader at Alaba, was kidnapped in 2015, and held captive for three months.  He also parted with $1M.

11. Elias Ukachukwu was kidnapped in November 2015. He, too, paid $1M.  The date of his release could not be ascertained but it was gathered that his abductors were insisting on another $1M ransom, claiming family members were rude to them during negotiation. 12 Francis Umeh, also a spare parts dealer at Aspanda, was kidnapped in July 2016, at Raji Rasaki Estate. Released after two months in captivity.

Some of the names of those in the kidnapped list ABOVE may also be DUBIOUS PEOPLE with questionable wealth via
armed robbery, drug trafficking and kidnapping just like that Nnewi-born sicko called Evans. These people know
themselves and they just ROB and KIDNAP one another. grin

I remember reading in the papers around 2011 that several Nnewi indigenes were being kidnapped every week
in Anambra prompting many of them to close their shops in Nnewi.

If you noticed well the population of Ibos increased drastically OUTSIDE IBOLAND [in places such as Port Harcourt, Lagos, Abuja,
Ibadan, Akure, Calabar, Akwa Ibom, etc.,] as a result of Ibos running out or relocating from the mainly 5 Ibo states to prevent being
kidnapped or violently raped and robbed. Severally luxury buses were waylaid after crossing the River NIGER BRIDGE and people were
killed through random spraying of bullets from automatic weapons. People withdrew their aged parents from Iboland to Lagos, Abuja etc
to prevent being kidnapped and eventually killed even after paying ransom to those BLOODY CREEPS.

There is no doubt that education and university degree is significant for any form of career development especially in our contemporary world. However, not everyone is able to take the additional four years after secondary school to train more for ability to build a successful career either due to cost, preference or sheer destiny.

University degree is not a determinant for success, you can still succeed in life and do perfectly well, build and an exciting and well paying career without a university degree.

Although you do not need a degree to secure a job, you may eventually need it if you eventually desire to progress in career.

Computers › Re: What Do You Normally Use To Clean Your Laptop Screen ? by Konquest: 6:33am On Jun 16, 2017
alade112:
Laptop screens tend to collect dust, food particles and other debris that starts to look unattractive after awhile. It's important to use very gentle supplies to clean your laptop screen, since the LCD surface is easily damaged. Using a microfiber cloth and a simple solution of water will do the work.

Sometimes you seem to be unsatisfied with water.

If you asked someone who knows a lot about cleaning computers they'd tell that cleaning your computer or laptop using methylated spirit or perfumes is one of the worst things you can do. But that's all because they've probably never used it in the first place. I always use methylated spirit to clean my computer and never had any issues.

So what I do is wipe it off first with a clean cloth. Then I would get my methylated   spirit and soft cloth  and wipe off the screen and the keyboard.

So what do you use in cleaning your laptop screen and keyboard?

Two Nigerian men have landed in trouble for daylight robbery near the presidential palace in Ghana. The two suspected robbers who have been apprehended - reportedly deflated the tyres of their victim at the Flagstaff House traffic light and snatched GH¢6,000 (0ver 400 thousand naira) he had withdrawn from a bank at Osu.

According to 3News, the daylight robbery reportedly occurred Wednesday afternoon. The two suspects, Ndubueze Odoemenam and Chiokoko Amadie, according to the Cantonment Divisional Commander, ACP Winfred Frimpong, trailed their victim from a bank in Osu.

The police said the victim stopped at the traffic light at Flagstaff House but suddenly realised that he had a flat tyre when the green light came on.

The victim, the police said, pulled over to the side to check what happened. Just as the victim got down to check the fault, two guys on a motorbike zoomed past him and snatched the money he had withdrawn together with the envelope. ACP Frimpong said another motor bike rider pursued the robbers and hit the one ridding the bike with his helmet leading to an accident at 37 Military Hospital.

The accident reportedly caused the money to spread on the road attracting commuters, some of whom began to mete instance justice on the three riders.

They were, however, saved by ASP Nanka Bruce, who was returning from a duty point.

GH¢5,250 out of the GH¢6,000 belonging to the victim was also retrieved.

Business › Re: 5 Useful Tips For Introverted Entrepreneurs by Konquest: 3:46am On Jun 16, 2017
Opinionated:
Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett and many of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs either are or have admitted that they are, to a large extent, introverts. It is possible for introverts to become great entrepreneurs. Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares 5 useful tips for introverted entrepreneurs.

Have a Recharge Time

Introverts need time to themselves, time away from social interactions and activities, if not they will eventually run out of energy, lose their composure and stop being productive. Many introverts understand this aspect of their personality, and to become a successful entrepreneur it’s important they find time away from it all to be by themselves (or around those they are comfortable with) and just recharge. This can be as simple as taking a 10 to 15 minutes break to yourself during the day, or taking a long weekend to yourself in the long term.

Intentionally Build Relationships

Building relationships isn’t very easy for introverts. It’s easier for them to be the object of relationship building as opposed to them actually being the ones to initiate the process. Unfortunately, you cannot be a successful entrepreneur if you are unable to build good relationships. In this case, your passion for entrepreneurship will have to win and take precedence over your discomfort with building relationships. Being intentional with building relationships (that is, not being emotional about the whole thing) and making yourself reach out to those around you is an easier way to build necessary relationships.

Use Your Strengths Well

Social interactions might be the one major weakness of introverts, but they also have great strengths that are vital to entrepreneurial success. Introverts have great listening skills. In a world where most people speak before they think, introverts naturally do the opposite and listen first before they speak. It is thus easier for them to get needed information to make smart decisions and enhance everything about their business, from sales to marketing. The listening skill is a very valuable tool for successful entrepreneurs.

Learn to Live Outside of Your Comfort Zone

To be a successful introverted entrepreneur, you’ll ultimately learn how to live outside of your comfort zone. This is because virtually every day you will encounter situations and scenarios that will take you out of your comfort zone. But if you’re really passionate about entrepreneurship, you’ll have to make that conscious decision daily to let passion win over comfort.

Delegate or Outsource Tasks You Can’t Handle

In the end, you’re an entrepreneur not a dare devil. You can’t keep living out of your comfort zone, which is why you need time to recharge in the first place. However, you have to be wise and be able to determine the tasks that are just not necessary for you to handle and outsource or delegate these tasks to an individual or group that can handle it better. Have some extroverts around that can handle certain aspects of your business easier than you would, while you can take on the more crucial aspects. You’re an entrepreneur, not a one-man army, and like Bill Gates admitted, a business can’t be managed and operate by an entire group of introverts, some extroverted influence is involved.

Politics › Re: Return Home Now, Afenifere Tells Southerners by Konquest: 11:06pm On Jun 15, 2017
ragiluhivo:
https://www.sunnewsonline.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Senator-Femi-Okurounmu-300x199.png
Following the October 1 ultimatum issued by Arewa Youths Forum to the people of South-East origin living in the northern parts of the country to leave the region, the apex Yoruba socio-cultural organisation , Afenifere, has called on all Southerners resident there to start returning home.

Rising from an emergency meeting held by the group to discuss the state of the nation in Lagos on Thursday, Afenifere said all Southerners should see the quit notice not as meant for Igbo people alone, but the rest of their counterparts from the region.

Afenifere chieftain, Senator Femi Okurounmu who was present at the meeting told Saturday Sun that the quit notice by the Arewa youths should be taken serious in view of historical experience.

“This quit notice by the northern youths should not be seen by any wise Southerner as being meant for only people from the South-East, or that it is an empty threat. These northern youths meant business, and not only that, they have the backing of the northern elders, who have not only expressed their support for the youths, but have also affirmed their backing for the quit notice given to the South-Easterners. These Northerners should not be underrated, and one of the major reasons we are insisting that all Southerners should start coming back to the South now is that when these attacks on them begin, the Northerners will attack all Southerners. How are they going to be separate a Yoruba from Igbo? It is going to be difficult. Southerners shouldn’t be gullible. They should start coming home now. They should not wait until the end of the ultimatum. We don’t want a repeat of 1966-1967 pogrom, when hundreds of people of Southern origin, especially those from the South-East were massacred in the North.

Okurounmu further said that Southerners should not be deceived by the arrest order on the Arewa youths by the Inspector-General of Police, Idris Ibrahim and Kaduna State governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, saying such order was only meant to give Nigerians the impression that action was being taken to rein in the youths.

‘‘Have these Arewa youths not been walking the streets free since the Inspector-General of Police and Governor el-Rufai ordered their arrest? The IG is a hypocrite. When crisis broke out in Osun State recently among some Hausa and Yoruba youths, is it not this same IG that immediately under 24 hours of the crisis sent mobile policemen to arrest Yoruba youths, while he left out his Hausa kinsmen? Why is the IG now unable to arrest these Hausa-Fulani youths who issued the quit notice? We are just deceiving ourselves, there is no justice in Nigeria. When an Hausa-Fulani man kills another Nigerian, he has not committed an offence, but when another Nigerian kills Hausa-Fulani man, he has committed an offence and must be punished. That is the Nigeria of today for you’’, he remarked.

However, if Nigeria wants to break up, so be it, let it break up, if it wants to break up. Nigeria will not be the first country to break up . The defunct Soviet Union broke up, heavens did not fall, defunct Czechoslovakia broke up, heavens didn’t fall, and even in Africa, recently Southern Sudan broke away from Sudan and heavens didn’t fall. So, what’s the big deal if Nigeria breaks up? It is not compulsory that Nigerians should live together by force.

On its own part, Yoruba Unity Forum expressed concern over the development, describing the quit notice as not only provocative, but also a shameful act.

The forum, in a statement issued by its Secretary-General, Senator Anthony Adefuye, called for the immediate prosecution of the Arewa youths.

Hello Nairalanders,
I visted some historical sites in Bénin republic... Porto novo to be precise, which is the ancient city of Bẹ́nin republic welcomed me with open arms yesterday. We (some members of my department) visited

1) The AJASE Palace "KABIYESI ALAJASE OBA ONIKOYI ABESAN 5é.
2) The Temple of the Olori Abesan and the 9 snakes
3)The Museum (which was once the Royal Palace of Porto- novo)

I'll be uploading pictures too, also give a suitable explanation where I can't upload pictures (at some point we weren't allowed to take pictures)

1)The AJASE Palace "KABIYESI ALAJASE OBA ONIKOYI ABESAN 5é.
The palace started existing in 1485, and he's has has been sitting on the throne since 1972. The throne is from the lineage of Oduduwa, the land was first inhabited by the Yoruba's and Hausas. In his words, he said "The foreigners here are those who came in during the civil war the likes of Ojukwu that came here to create Biafra, when they realized the Ibo's were running here (porto-novo) for shelter they received them with open hearts, irregardless of that Nigerians are not foreigners in Bénin republic; the same ethnic group in Nigeria is the same here in Bénin republic that is why Bénin is the first destination you get to when you leave Nigeria.

Romance › Re: ‘I Tried A New Sex Position Every Day For A Week—here’s What Happened’ by Konquest: 6:55pm On Jun 12, 2017
lola024:
Mira and Jack* have been married for over a decade and are bored with their three go-to sex positions. Here's what happened when they accepted our seven-day challenge to try a new move every night.

My husband and I have always had a pretty good sex life. But to be honest, we have our few tried-and-true positions that we use almost all the time. After being together for 11 years, we know what works for us, and on most nights it's just easier to go with what you know. But since we both agreed we were in a routine, we felt ready to switch things up with a new sex position every night for a week. That's more times than we usually have sex (two to three times a week is normal for us), but we were ready to get creative and flexible (literally—just keep reading).

DAY 1: BUTTER CHURNER
Jack started to laugh when I revealed that I knew about this position because I had seen it in a porn. I lay down on my back with my legs in the air, and he literally squatted over me, dipping his penis in and out my vagina, like, yup, an old-fashioned butter churn. Jack was a little nervous about hurting my neck, but when I reassured him I was okay, we got into it. I think just doing something so different from our usual missionary, cowgirl, doggy style trifecta was a thrill for both of us.

DAY 2: STANDING WHEELBARROW
Since I've been taking yoga for a few years, it was easy to get into this position simply by assuming a downward dog pose. Hubs grabbed my legs and lifted them up and had nice, easy access to enter me (make things easier for yourself with this organic lube from the Women's Health Boutique). Honestly it was a little awkward to stay in this position for too long, but it was fun while it lasted.

DAY 3: LEAP FROG
Of course doggy style is one of our faves, but this variation had me with my arms, head, and chest down on the pillow. It was nice in that I felt like I was taking a little break—my guy was definitely doing all the work here (and, no, I didn't fall asleep, though I probably could have!). We both liked this one because it's not too complicated and it's just different enough from what we usually do to add a little spice.

DAY 4: BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE
This is a position we used to do a lot when we first started dating, so for us it was kind of nostalgic—and hot. With Jack sitting in a chair, I simply backed up onto him, controlling the movement as I slid up and down.

DAY 5: COWBOY
We're a pretty open-minded couple, so we were game for a little gender role reversal this night. While I lay face-up on the bed with my legs together, Jack straddled me and tried to push himself into the opening between my legs. At first it felt a little silly to see him in what I felt was a really feminine position, but the sensations were so intense—for both of us—that we both finished quickly in this position. (This remote-controlled couples massager is like nothing you've experienced before. Are you game?)

DAY 6: SEASHELL
There aren't many sex positions that leave me feeling as exposed as this one—but in a good way. As I lay back on the bed, my ankles crossed behind my head—did I mention how handy yoga comes in?—I was totally open for Jack. He loved the view and I was really turned on by the feeling of being so open for him. (Check out these ridiculous stories from sex ed class.)

DAY 7: FACE OFF
This night, we sat facing each other during sex and it was an extremely intimate encounter. Jack sat cross-legged while I got on top of him. There was definitely some gazing-into-your-soul eye contact going on, which I'll admit is probably a bit much for our usual 11 p.m. quickie—but it was pretty awesome to feel so connected during sex.

The verdict: Overall it was fun to try new positions—and just to have sex a lot more than usual. We'll probably take a few of these and incorporate them into our regular sex life. But really, it was just the idea of switching things up a little that helped to make sex feel new again. So I'd say mission accomplished!

Let Ikwerre be, forget them, they are not strategic to our plans, not indispensable and certainly not worth the headache. They( Ikwerre) have even started infecting Etche with their Igbophobia, bring them into Biafra and you have more problems on your hands to deal with.

Travel › Re: 5 Reasons Why You Should Visit Ibadan In 2017 by Konquest: 3:29am On Jun 12, 2017
deturla:
Ibadan, popularly referred to as the city of brown roofs, embodies an ample mix of history and modern adventure that presents both indigenes and foreigners a huge wealth of experience. Aside from its peaceful ambiance and serene nature, Ibadan is a famous and great city in Nigeria. It is home to many commercial establishments and business organizations and the city is continuously expanding. Jumia shared below 5 reasons why you should visit Ibadan in 2017:

1 Ibadan is the third cheapest city to live in Nigeria

According to a recent study carried out in Nigeria, it was discovered that Ibadan is the third cheapest city to live in after Ikot Ekpene and Aba. The standard of living in Ibadan is generally low and as such, people can live conveniently on a salary of N50,000. Unlike in Lagos State where people spend a lot of money commuting to work daily, the cost of transportation in Ibadan is unbelievably affordable. Commuters pay as low as N50 to get to a far destination, a situation which is not possible in Lagos and many other states.

2 Ibadan is home to very affordable luxury hotels in Nigeria

The city of Ibadan has a plethora of affordable hotels ranging from luxury five star hotels to regular hotels. The room rates of hotels in Ibadan are unbelievably affordable when compared to hotels in Lagos. For instance, Premier Hotel, a five star hotel in Ibadan has room rates starting from less than NGN 20,000 where as a similar five star hotel in Lagos have room rates starting from NGN 50,000 and above.

3 Ibadan has a place in the history of Africa

Historically, the city of Ibadan is a place to be reckoned with. It is notable for being the largest city in West Africa. Asides its large land mass, it also houses the first sky scrapper in the whole of Africa. Cocoa House, a building towering above a height of 100metres is the first tall urban building in the African continent. Formerly referred to as “Ile Awon Agbe” (meaning house of farmers), the modest 24 storey high-rise building is a major landmark in Ibadan. Furthermore, during the middle of the eighteenth century, Ibadan rose to prominence as the presiding military power house in southwest Nigeria. The city of Ibadan is also the site of one of the first universities in sub-Saharan Africa. The University of Ibadan is the first university in Nigeria as well.

4 The people of Ibadan are very hospitable

The people of Ibadan are one of the most hospitable people in Nigeria. They are usually warm and cordial to people and they receive guests with open hands. As such, if you are looking for a new place to go on tourism in Nigeria, you will never go wrong with Ibadan. To a large extent, the Ibadan spirit of hospitality has everyone stuck there. People live harmoniously with each other with quarrels hardly ever arising.

5 Ibadan is home to the tastiest indigenous meals in Southwestern Nigeria

The Ibadan people are notable for being the best at preparing “amala and ewedu”, one of the most popular Yoruba meal. Amala and Ewedu is a very important meal in southwest Nigeria. In fact, it is often described as one of the tourist attractions found in the city of Ibadan. It is a super spicy delicacy that is served in all traditional functions in the city. One of the major benefits of this meal is its very healthy nature. Nutritionists assert that the combination of Amala and Ewedu contains vitamins, minerals and fiber that will protect the body from degenerative terminal diseases. In summary, Amala and Ewedu is a “super” meal. Words are not enough to describe how amazing this meal taste. I will suggest you book the next flight or board the next bus and head to the city of Ibadan to have a feel of this super meal yourself.

West African ports move against Nigeria’s proposed hub bid

PORTS in neighbouring countries in the West African sub-region are currently constructing deep sea ports that will take mega ships so as to take up Nigerian bound cargoes.

In a letter to the President Goodluck Jonathan, the President of the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA), Mr. Lucky Amiwero, said that most of the countries in the sub-region are building ports that can take vessels that carry as much as 14,000 containers.

He warned that if urgent steps are not taken to develop new ports in Nigeria, Nigeria will only contain itself with trans-shipment cargoes.

Amiwero stated that the establishment of transshipment center in any regional port, will eventually change the distribution pattern of cargoes within the sub-region.

He noted that the West and Central African coast from Mauritania to Angola is one of the few regions of the world with a dominant hub distribution port

The logistics expert disclosed that construction of a deep seaport in Seme-Kpodji as a transshipment center is a threat to Nigeria as Mega vessels carrying up to 15,000 containers will be directed to such and only trans-ship to Nigeria because of the nation’s draft which statistics says is not more than 10 meters.

Seme is a border town between Nigeria and Benin Republic where duty rates are low and cargo clearing procedure flexible.

He said “ Nigeria has one of the most important attributes carriers look for which is a strategic location of the hub/transshipment center relative to primary origins and final destination of the container traffic.”

He stated that with the plans to take nearly 75percent of Nigerian bound cargoes, Ghana, Benin Republic, and Cote D’’ Ivoire commenced moves to build deep sea ports.

He noted that until few years ago, Nigeria played host to land-locked countries like Niger, Chad, Burkinafaso and Cameroon as cargoes meant for these countries transited through Nigeria.

These trans-shipments have all been lost to Ghana and other neighbouring countries that are working round the clock to siphon Nigeria bound cargoes.

His words “ Nigeria ports palyed host to the land locked countries of Niger, Chad and Cameroon in the Sixties and Seventies, we lost all that to Ghana and Cote D’ Ivoire due to their process that conforms to FAL conventionof the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Kyoto convention and reform implementation of Process procedure that minimize, simplifies and facilitate trade.

I wonder if the deep seaports being
proposed for Akwa Ibom, Bakassi in
Cross Rivers, the one for Bayelsa and
even Badagry will still be competitive
or viable. Especially the proposed
Eastern deep seaports which will
struggle because there is NO Destination
of Cargo yet which would lure the
big oceangoing ships to engage in
both massive import and export.

Politics › Re: Igbos Are The Engineers Of Their Own Misfortunes by Konquest: 1:13pm On Jun 11, 2017
smellingmenses:
I am very amused every time I hear the rumbling of the Biafran dreams by these people... utopianism at best.

The Igbo seems to have selective amnesia indeed. It is on record that the prime leaders of the Northern Nigeria in the person of Sir Ahmadu Bello and Tarawa Balewa were murdered by Igbo men. In fact the one who gruesomely murdered Bello was a boy he trained and raised..... Thus the saying " don't look at uche's face" because if you help uche he will surely betray you.

Not done the southwestern leader and Aare Ona kakanfo of Yorubaland Chief Ladoke Akintola was also gruesomely murdered by Igbo men at Ibadan...

Not done Festus Okotie Eboh of the Niger Delta region was gruesomely hacked...yes hacked to death by this same Igbo men.

Treacherously all limelight igbo political leaderslike the Great Zik, Dr. Okpara, Mbadiwe, Mbonu Ejike and Nwafor Orizu were all excluded from this cold blooded murders while Northern region, Niger Delta region and southwestern region had their prominent leaders hacked to death by a cluster of Igbo men in military uniform.
And as if to rub salt on the injury orizu nwafor handed over power to Aguiyi Ironsi .. another Igbo man! One would wonder how much is the Igbo population doing all these evils at the detriment of other far larger ethnic groups in Nigeria... Aguiyi Ironsi merely locked up these criminal Igbo men in jail for months without charging them for treasonous acts and making sure that they were punished... True it was that they were even boasting in the cells... These led to the coup that took away Ironsi...

If a band of Igbo soldiers could do treacherously deal with Nigeria as a whole.... One needs to understand the silence of the southwest .... the anger of the south south at attempts to involve them in any satanic biafranic agenda... If you also know the Northern Nigeria well... The murders of Balewa and Ahmadu Bello are still evergreen and fresh in their minds.

It is my humble submission that the Igbo are their own enemies and the war they also initiated which consumed them is still their handiwork... Thanks for reading this piece.
