My Dear Brethren, Getting PPR or having your Passport stamped and CoPR at hand is not the end of this Journey. Frankly, It might just jolly well be the beginning. 12 Likes 1 Share |

Emmasonic4me:This your post hook me for one corner I can't explain sha... Choi. Cuteguy201 appreciated your post (and clarified) in good faith but in return you attacked his gesture albeit subtly. Although not yours but you posted it and probably took ownership by the disclaimer, let's take a look at your point four in steps to recall the tax charged and also remember the disclaimer you put does not cover a disparity of the point, I'd recopy so you don't go scrolling up "You will get an instant auto generated mail after submitting followed by the confirmation of refund mail in 72 hours" Then Let me answer your query with some questions. How will you feel when folks come in droves to say, I applied 3 days ago (to put it at minimum) but I am yet to get an auto response talk-less of a refund? What will be your response then? How do you expect him to come forward with what was yet to be verified to be true? He waited nothing less than 50 days to get the refund which I believe is the applicable timeline... Koko sha, I'd rather go with a first hand experience than follow yours of hearsay (3 days)... My take. PS: I applied January 8 and got the same refund mail about 3 days back, yet to confirm money has been paid though. 6 Likes |

Femicrux:I think the rule (presumed, for me) is to submit most of your documents fresh, as e de hot . 2-3 months is a long long long time. Plenty things could have happened within that period, your closing balance now will most likely not be what that statement reads, could be significantly lesser or higher. Why not just do another when you're close to submitting, 2-3 weeks still fair but 2-3months is a push for me. On the other question, some school of thought will say don't touch your POF till you get PPR (some even as far as till you land) but me, I belong to the other party that thinks a snake can swallow part of it as long as that snake will vomit it within a reasonable short time. Then monkey sef will follow swallow again, vomit too in a short time... The animals in the zoo can keep at it like that like that. 9 Likes |

Newbeecey:The documents you used for the passport name change will suffice for the further identification, you have a placeholder to upload name change document... POF (and other documents) in maiden name while passport in new surname will be covered with your marriage certificate+newspaper publication+marriage declaration uploaded in legal name change placeholder. You have no issues to worry about here. |

Newbeecey:If you want to do a name change on your passport (at least for married women), you'd need your marriage certificate, news paper publication of name change and maybe declaration of marriage. With this three documents, you won't need a one and same person affidavit. However, you may choose to renew your passport in your maiden name, it's absolutely fine. If you do this, it simply means your PCC, Medicals, IELTS TRF (if you'd be taking the test), Name on EE Profile (be you PA or dependant), ultimately your CoPR and even PR Card - save to say other documents and processes to do upon landing - will all be in your maiden name. I don't know process of name change in Canada but I do know to get those three documents earlier mentioned in Nigeria wouldn't cost you much time or energy, so why not change it now. If you do have the documents though, then effect the name change but you wouldn't need one and same person affidavit. My opinion. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Apologies for coming late to the Face Value Vs Discounted Value Party . Let’s see Tbills (and FD) as investment rather than POF. Tbills is supposed to be I give up N6M in investment, FG gives me 500k (upfront) as interest. This is the accounting activity in some banks (I know FCMB), you’re debited 6M and immediately credited 500k whereas, a bank like GT will just debit you 5.5M. So, I have an investment (certificate) worth 6M and a closing balance of 500k, the real debate should actually be, can I use my closing balance (SOA) as part of POF since that 500k (in the statement) is the unearned interest you will give part up in the event of liquidation not any amount in the N6M. If you use discounted value to calculate your POF, you’re simply saying your investment is not worth 6M when in actual sense, you gave up N6M. For me, I used both N6M and even N500k in my POF calculation . Another angel to see this… Let’s say I want to use only my Tbills certificate as POF without adding my SOA which is totally allowed. For parties saying use discounted value, that means, I’d be saying my POF is 5.5M? When before the investment I had 6M in my account? Biko, Face Value all the way mehn, no time . P.S: All figures used are hypothetical. cc: Guitarlife, DabR, Newmum0615, Happytbaby, GlitteringStar, 40manlappy and all other owambe attendees 17 Likes 1 Share |

If you fix before printing your statement, add the FD certificate to your POF. If you fix after printing statement, you may choose not include the FD certificate in your POF. 2 Likes |

Newmum0615:The post Mummytutu quoted and said was wrong is in fact correct, you can’t be married and claim single – that was what Mcstan18 responded to saying it’s misrepresentation. Sleekchic noted this but guess you mixed the posts. If you check his other response you’re talking about, He is very much correct. The other poster said you can claim point as a single applicant by selecting married but spouse not accompanying. Please read the post very well and then check his response. The poster however corrected the intent of that particular post in his response. Clear the words were not put rightly in the first post. Sure Mcstan18 can defend himself though. |

mcstan18:Let's be conscious of answers we give, especially when it carries so much authority. There was a similar case mentioned on the previous thread, poster got reference letter from his line head, but confirmation went direct to the company's HR (probably gotten from their website) with the line head in copy. Case got a bit complicated as HR was said to not likely respond, and line head too wouldn't even dare respond to that particular mail. I can't recollect the end of that case. cc: Clock89, please be guided. 5 Likes |

RuggedArab:Are you aware if your friend has submitted his application? If not, he needs to recalculate his CRS as a married applicant, then do the needful (Reject or Accept ITA). His wife's name as it is bares no negative implication. He can proceed, leave it at that through the application or proceed as is, then raise a CSE to provide the renewed password during the application. 1 Like |

Fanyeofori:The six weeks is not entirely true, though some applicants experience delays of some sort. Normally, your request should be treated within 3 to 4 weeks. The Unilag site is actually running but the transcript page is off, if it remains off till (or after) NASU calls off their strike, try get to senate if you can, if not, send a proxy that gets things done. |
