Hi All,

Many thanks to Kontagious and Albgbenguze for replying my earlier question.

Please I also want to confirm the following:

1). Can I use a foreign bank statement as POF? I am based in Liberia and have been living in Liberia since 2012. I have a GTBank (Dollar) account here in Monrovia which I opened in 2012 BUT DO NOT have an account back home in Naija.
2). Can I do everything from Liberia? I already wrote the IELTS here in Liberia. For medicals, there's a designated hospital here in Liberia. Same with PCC (in which the Ministry of Justice in Liberia is the designated office). For Naija PCC, I presume I will have to go to the Nigerian Embassy to take my fingerprints to be sent to folks back home in Naija who can go to Alagbon on my behalf. Is this correct?

Lastly, do I need to travel to naija for anything? Thanks again.
1.) A place you've been residing since 2012 shouldn't be foreign to you. I believe, your Liberian bank account should be overly good to use. Moreover, it's your bank account!

2.)Medicals should be done in Liberia too, just because you are Nigerian decent does not mandate you to have medicals done in Nigeria. Who would ask you to travel down to Nigeria to have it down? Please don't worry much about that.

For the Naija PCC, I really don't know how to go about that, let's wait for informed response.

Congrats bro. Are you in Nigeria? Cos I'm getting "Result not found" when I try to check my results.

I want to believe he's operating on a time zone ahead of Nigeria. I tried checking as well and got same response.

Now, the wait is more real than before.

Congrats Eboziem.

Does amount you have change your CRS. If I have like $30,000 will it chnage my CRS score?
Jesus Christ Codeworks, you had me rolling on the floor with this. POF does not affect your CRS. If you like add Abacha, Dasuki and Deziani's combined national cake, your CRS will stand gallant like Nigerian Army.

Hello My People!

Please I would like to pick your brains. I currently have about $8,200 in my account since August (which makes it 2 months) and I plan to continue funding my account till i get the required 12,300 CAD. By the end of this year, I should have a total of $13,000. Because of this, I decided NOT TO create my EE profile yet and wait till November/December. My CRS score is 433 and if i had created my EE profile earlier, I might have been given ITA yesterday. I know I have 90 days to apply for PR but i decided to be on the safe side because I have no family member to get a gift deed from.

Is it advisable to wait till Nov/Dec to create my EE or do I just create it now? Or when is the best time for me to dive into the pool?

Thanks ALL.
Take advantage of your score now, you don't know what scores will be in next three months though we all hope and pray to have the CRS reducing.

There are a couple of folks with PPR who received significant amount of their POF after ITA. Ehmm, ITA at hand is better than ITA with IRCC.

Good day House,

Please I need your advice.
I'm filling the Wes application form online . Should I choose the standard delivery method which is 7 dollars or 85 dollars?

Does it make any difference apart from the ability to track ?

Can I apply without receiving the evaluation hard copy from Wes?

Thank you
Hi,

See below a personal experience. Post was last week. Please read through the thread, you'd see personal experiences covering a wide range of topics. Will do you lots of good to read and yes, you can apply without the ECA hard copy.

Kontagious:
I hope this helps someone.

My first set of questions on this thread were ECA (WES) related - if I could use a post office address, and how safe was selecting the standard shipping option. I asked just so I won't hear ECA hard copy got lost in transit and of course cost cutting for the other. I was applying for two ECAs, difference in the two shipping options was netting N45k.

Trust, responses came making me opt for p.o.box and standard shipping. Glad to say, the choices paid off. Hard copies of the ECA picked today - less than a month from receipt of soft copies. The hard copies could have been in the box for a while as we don't get to check the box that often.

To reiterate, future applicants can save some money selecting standard shipping. It will be delivered to your post office box or home address. We’ve had several posts comfirming delivery to home addresses as well, though your ECA hard copy has possibility of getting lost in transit with the standard shipping option.

The English is this ur explanation is hard to decode my brother. I studied to postgraduate level in Naija, my bride has a bachelors from d UK and currently doing a master's degree. Does she need IELts again and kindly break down ur explanation.
Answer to your question is actually in the post you quoted. "If the UK degree holder is your spouse, it is optional to have an ECA for the degree as well optional to take the IELTS. If you wish to boost your CRS score, you may then consider ECA and IELTS for your spouse."

A breakdown of all the grammar the guy said is;

For PA, ECA and IELTS is a must.

For Spouse, ECA and IELTS is not a must but advisable if the PA wants to increase his CRS.

You get?

Thanks for your response.
She has 7.5,7,7,6.5 (academic).
She will complete her Bsc in the next 2yrs
She has not started evaluating her nursing cert. because we have just been introduced to this process and we don't actually know much about it.
She is 27 years
Am a Bsc holder, I am preparing for IELTS right now.
Hello Sir,

To start with, IELTS Academic cannot be used for EE. It has to be General Training and a good score is considered to be at the least 8777 (LRWS), anything short of that almost renders the result not suitable.

If you meant she'd be completing her MSc in two years (cause you had early mentioned she's currently running her MSc), waiting for her to complete the programme might be a long haul but advantageous as she would have gained more working experience if not up to three years at the moment. Her age at that time will still give maximum points but to me, waiting two years to apply is a very very long time.

What you might consider is checking;
1.) What your points will be with you as PA
2.) She the PA with her BSc degree

Use this link to check your likely score. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

Pls if a first degree is gotten the UK does he need IELts
IELTS and UK degree or any other degree does not have direct correlation.

However, if the UK degree holder is the PA, you sure need an ECA for the degree (if the degree is the highest degree) and take the IELTS too.

If the UK degree holder is your spouse, it is optional to have an ECA for the degree as well optional to take the IELTS. If you wish to boost your CRS score, you may then consider ECA and IELTS for your spouse.

Let me rephrase

What will be possible WES ECA evaluation for someone who has (5years) B.TECH in computer Science from FUTO? is it 2years certificate or 3 years certificate?
Hi,

It will likely be Bachelor's degree (four years). I believe there's a tool on WES webpage where you can check a rough estimate of your credential, you can explore the tool.

They saw for others but did not find mine. I contacted WES and requested they resend to the UI registrar's email again and i gave them the email address but i have not gotten any response. Has anyone experienced something like this? Will WES send the mail again to the email address i provided? Please help!
Hello Sir,

Have you considered asking WES to send the verification via courier? That way, you can track the mail and ensure prompt response on receipt.

Bros, for you to maintain 420 when you marry MrsBigiwoman, she must at least have MSc and scores 8777. Anything short of that two will shrink your 420! Though you will get extra 15 points if she has sibling(s) in canada.

Glad to see this talk is coming up, I was afraid the thread was losing one of its core essence few pages back. I perceived some “elders” consequently went quiet.

To be honest, some questions go just tire you to answer, not necessarily because they’ve been answered a million times but you find that sometimes, the answer to the question is right there in the poster’s face.

A question like “what’s WES Canada Fax Number” has been asked several times. It will be safe to assume that, it always gets answered, without referring the poster to go ask google. Whereas, the same poster could have used the search bar with phrase simple as “WES Fax Number” and see tens of post confirming one number.

Now, Elfmann (bros, I am not calling you out here) has a very witty way of responding to some posts. Sometimes, his response might come as offensive, other times comical. If you find a response offensive, just jump and pass rather than trading words. Guyman once gave a 5 word response to a post of mine that felt more like a TKO blow to my heart, but I let the bros be. Later realized, that’s he’s way – which isn’t a bad thing. Sometimes, I wish I could tag him to respond to some questions I find weird but that would be brutal. We have to realize we have different personalities and some take things more personal than others. Whichever way, we have to respect each other and maintain the love that has always existed between us all.

In other news, soon and very soon, ITA be falling on some folks while some anxiously waiting for Friday’s Ielts result. Some AOR, some PPR, some COPR… Whichever stage we are, God’s grace be with us all.

If he sends and the passport isn't back, can he leave US without the passport?

I think he should consider traveling to a safe haven before the hard date, send the passport from there and await recovery. Cause chances of having the passport back September 30th (just 2 weeks if he sends today) is slim, very slim.

Thanks for this. I have researched on the subject with no clarity. Other financial professional should please advise. Really need to make the decision quickly.

May be a better option is to move the money into fixed deposit in a bank.
Hi,

I think you've been appropriately advised that you can leave your funds in the ARM account. Another point you might wish to consider is, Pension accounts are accepted to beef up POF, if these accounts can be used, then why won't an investment account be accepted?

Moreover, T-bills is also an investment and your money is not even with the bank but the FG. If T-bills certificate is acceptable, why not that from ARM?

See post from gustalnov below and a couple of responses confirming your ARM account can be used. To relieve your worries, Mummyjaygirls has her COPR. I must however say I do not know what portion she used.

gustalnov:
Hello,

I have been able to enter my profile. Now I am gathering funds for proof of funds.

Has anyone gotten a letter from a mutual funds company like ARM or Stanbic and successfully presented it as proof of funds for PPR application? I need help with this? How do I get the letter from them? is the statement of account I download from their portal enough?

Thank you

dtush:
Hi, just got mine. And Dats what I am using for pof. Call their customer service or visit the office in Ikoyi. It's faster

MummyJaygirls:
Request that they should write a letter to cic confirming ur balance and yes, I used it as part POF

Thank you everyone for your responses. Followikg what you guys said, has anyone in the process been asked to provide further or updated evidence of proof of funds?
Hi, I’d assume your POF is in your account, depending on the amount you need. You might consider investing in T-bills. If you do N3m for 91 days tenor, you should have about 100k readily available. This way, you have legitimately touched your POF without touching it. But then, depends on how much you need.

To your question, we've read of cases where updated POF is requested. It happens but not too frequently.

Your family size fee (App + RPRF) should be 2,380CAD. 2,100USD should be sufficient but you might want to top that up a bit just in case.

Then maybe you confirm your card has been activated and if there's any limit set.

Your choice...all the best to everyone on their PR journey. Every application is unique and we are not in the mind of VOs. When the issues come up with CIC, we will leave all our 'financial literacy' and do the needful.
What if poster was not even called for an updated POF when it gets to stage of checking and he/she simply gets a rejection because of incomplete funds.
Unencumbered fund is a requirement for a reason and POF won't bother a lot of people here if the money can actually be spent. I won't advise anyone to have a balance lower than the required amount when application is yet to be approved because it is the same as not having that money.
Abby, I sincerely apologize if you found my post offensive, it wasn’t intended.

The fact that the funds is unencumbered, to me, seems more like you can spend, but of course reasonably and most importantly a refund be made. Logic here is, if it is encumbered, then I have no absolute right/access to the money.

Again, if the bank is contacted by IRCC, I suppose the bank is only obligated to give details as at date the SOA was printed and not any date further.

Then the poster’s query seems more like an intangible amount of the POF which I see as inconsequential.

As rightly said by you, VOs have their discretion to every application. But for me, touching my POF will not create fear in me if I know the money is truly mine (which is basis of POF) and will be appropriately returned.

Please don't touch your POF.

You don't know the question that will be asked when your bank is contacted, besides you can be asked to submit updated POF, how will you explain the movement in your account.
With all due respect, I beg to differ at the bolded.

To me, it makes no financial sense to leave a couple of millions laying fallow in a saving/current account when the same money can be invested profitably in something else.

Even if asked to provide updated POF, as long as there is movement (proportionate inflows inclusive), then there shouldn't be a problem.

At this my struggling stage, there is no way on earth I will leave N6m in an account for 6 months, that's financial illiteracy (no pun intended).

lilyandie, please feel free to touch your POF but also make sure to replenish accordingly within reasonable time. My take.

Once you've crossed the cumulative 6 months period, you surely do need your fbi pcc, regardless of your highest stay period. If you won't be going back the to US soon (before you submit your application), you should apply for it as soon as possible if you've not.

It is very feasible for your passport to be stamped if validity is more than 6 months.

On the other case, I don't think NIS will renew a passport with more than 6 months validity. If the validity however falls below 6 months during your application, you can always renew and raise a CSE to send the renewed passport.

If you are close to the 6 months though, you can begin other processes like ECA and IELTS (if not done), then wait out the remaining period to renew if there's any left.

u mentioned he not doing the ECA..Can u please explain
Allow me to briefly state that, at least, the beginning and to an appreciable extent, the system is based on points.

There are points the PA must claim, these includes points from Education and Language skills while these points are not mandatory for spouse.

So, you and your husband have option of claiming points with his education and language test. For Spouse’s education, maximum point is 10 – for MSc and above, 9 for two or more certificates (your husband falls here with his HND) then 8 points for Bsc holders.

For Language, maximum point claimable by spouse is 20, scoring 8777 in LRWS.

It’s then up to you to decide if you want to claim points from his education and/or language test. If you feel your profile alone accrues you enough points to secure ITA, then by all means go ahead without him doing IELTS and ECA. But be advised that the higher your CSR, the higher your chances of getting ITA. Though, this year, we saw a draw as low as 413 but also as high as 468.
