smslive2:Thanks Boss! Kyaggy:Elfmann, come ann see your people ooo. Why send you to Abuja when you can do in Lagos? And what has time got to do here? Is it that Abuja’s requests gets attended to much faster than Lagos or any other test center? Ayam not understanding. Good to hear EOR can be requested outside test centers though. @ Cochtrane and GlitteringStar, for the archives. If you follow their advice, means you have to courier your TRF to Abuja. This advice has prompted me to share this experience I had with BC; So, because I didn’t decide on time if to rewrite or wait for my remarked result, the test I booked got expired due to nonpayment. I registered on Friday I got the 1st result, the booked slot expired the following Friday. I got the email notification that my time to pay had expired hence the test slot cancelled. Immediately I got that mail, I did a little digging to see if I could still pay and retain the date. From what I read, seems like they do not receive payment same day in some cases, sometime receive the next or two days later. So, I paid like 15mins after the mail. Bear in mind mail BC sent states I should get in touch through call, mail or visit if I wish to retain my date. I tried calling but trust BC’s line not to connect, their response on emails when they decide to respond are appalling to me so I didn’t even try emailing. Last option was to visit, being a Friday, I had to get their before 12noon which I did. The shocker, lady I spoke to said the test date I paid for was filled and I had to do a mail requesting they book me for the next available date but the payment will suffice. By my calculation, result of the next date will be available maybe just a week before I get result from the EOR. Not worth it if I was to take the exams on that date. I told the lady I wasn’t down for any other date apart from the one I had paid for, if me taking on the preferred date was not possible, I’d rather initiate a refund process. She turned to her colleague and said I wanted a refund, both of them spoke gibberish for few seconds, later worked on her computer (for about 30 seconds) and to my surprise said “it’s been reversed”. I was like what’s reversed, my money? She said no, the cancellation and I should receive a test confirmation before the next Tuesday. In my mind I was like so you can reverse the cancellation within a very short time and with little effort but you’d rather tell me to go write on another day. Telling her my mind wouldn’t add much so I left. Had I not insisted, she would have made it seems I had no option than to take her unpleasant advice. Much later, some participants on this thread would ask if test dates were retained after cancellation but I couldn’t share this experience then cause of time. I hope this is useful for someone tomorrow. |
balogunsam:From responses so far, your final review period is unusual. The report should arrive before the 20th, more like any moment from today sef. |
ctrlunlimited:Regular mail refers to you receiving your report through NIPOST. It's been advised that regular mail be explored as most evaluating bodies sends soft copy of the ECA which suffices for your application. Caution here is that your report may be lost in transit with the regular mail. |
Kyaggy:More like you can request for the EOR any day. Were you able to request in Lagos office? |
mepconsultant:You won't be questioned. Your gift deed should state (among other details) that you're given the money for your relocation plans. So, you actually received it in preparation for that relocation. Your gift deed kind of supersedes the affidavit(s), the gift deed without the affidavits might just be sufficient. Lets wait for others opinion. |
olugere:Bros, please try minimize typing in block letters. It comes as though you are screaming and somewhat puts your readers off. You can pass same message without capitalizing. Put the bolded in search bar (it's at the top or bottom of this page), you'd see links to downloadable materials. If you read through the thread, invaluable tips abounds. Cheers. |
zealog:She can apply to WES with either of the surnames. It's all fine but if you decide to go with her married surname, there's a tab in the form for maiden name. Her report will be produced bearing both surnames with the new in bracket. Format is; Maiden-Surname (New-Surname) First-Name Second-Name. Your ECA number will be used to match profile plus both names will be on the report. So, worry not about IRCC reconciling report. zealog:Its really not complicated. Request for the transcript with her maiden name. Once the transcript gets to WES, her reference number will match the transcript to her profile. |
mepconsultant:You can receive the lump sum and gift deed any time. It can be few weeks to or before ITA. You may however do without the gift deed if you've had the money six months prior to ITA, all you'd need do in that instance is to present your six months bank statement. |
flyca:Five years. |
arizona20:cc: Alyemsgre Please note that if you do not present a PCC for any country you've stayed for 6 months and above, or at the very least provide proof that effort to get the PCC is in progress, your application will be termed incomplete and ultimately rejected. |
elfmann:I tell you but he shouldn't even need EOR since his result is being investigated. Read a case where the supposed investigation lasted five months! |
ETHIX:I actually meant start date of the investment and not the tenor. I believe the certificate will still suffice, treasury bill certificate is an accepted form of POF. You may also support the certificate with a letter from the investment house starting IRCC's requirement. It shouldn't be difficult for you to get letter in the required format. Modified: See excerpt from CIC's POF page. "For proof, you must get official letters from any banks or financial institutions where you are keeping money. Letter(s) must: be printed on the financial institution’s letterhead include their contact information (address, telephone number and email address) include your name list outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans include, for each current bank and investment account: account numbers the date each account was opened the current balance of each account the average balance for the past six month" I believe your POF is safe to use. Lets wait for others opinion. |
codeworks:Hi Justwise, Is it possible to reopen the thread? If yes, please reconsider your decision to close it. Though there's a link (to a blog) for PNP on page 0 but a dedicated thread for PNPs will do immeasurable good for those in need. I (and many others) believe the thread is needed and was created with good intentions. Please reopen if you can. Thanks. |
ETHIX:Yes. If the investment is however less than 6 months, you may wish to support the TBills certificate with your six months statement of account. |
elfmann:Test date bro. 2nd to the last question. https://ielts.britishcouncil.org/FAQ.aspx#question'27' |
Kyaggy:Seems more like you have to apply for the remark from your test center. If i am correct, Enugu's test center is in Port Harcourt and not Abuja. However, if you have your TRF with you and you're presently in Lagos, why not raise the bank draft and try their Lagos office. If its not possible requesting from Lagos, then you have to send to your test center. Remember, EOR can only be made within six weeks from test date which you barely have 10 days left. Try the Lagos office, and please remember to give feedback. |
balogunsam:I think mine was completed within two or three days after this update, can't fully recollect but one week seems a bit far. You should see your expected date of completion on your dashboard. That's a pointer. You're almost through. |
JustinTrudeau:What a wait for you. I did small digging and found there's really no set time for the holding period, some receive theirs in few weeks and some in months. Pele |
JustinTrudeau, you're sighted... How far IQAS and BC? |
adeji2001:Capital NO, you can only use a joint account with your spouse. |
Mzstephh:I believe you can hold your POF in any country's bank account so far the bank account is in your name. Moreso, your travel and personal history will show your ties with the UK. Hence, you having a UK bank account or your POF in the account should not pose any problem. You can have your POF in either or both UK and Nigerian bank account. And yes, the 28 days rule does not apply. Though, you might need to explain a huge deposit if it reflects in your bank statement, what constitutes a huge deposit is however yet to be defined. |
ItsYourFriend:I was almost in a similar fix but then I remembered reading a book - Take the Risk - by Ben Carson where he gave four questions that should aid decision making. I'd give my opinion but since the decision is yours to make, answer the questions and I believe what you will do lies in the answers; What is the best thing that will happen if you fill in pseudo details? Get ITA with next draw, proceed to apply and eventually become a citizen. What is the worst thing that will happen if you fill in pseudo details? You might get a 5 year ban for misrepresentation. What is the best thing that will happen if you don't fill in pseudo details? You don't get banned, later get ITA and proceed with your application. What is the worst thing that will happen if you don't fill in pseudo details? You miss the next draw or a few more draws, CRS shoots up, you might have to wait a couple more months before you receive ITA. Choice is yours to fill or not to, and ultimately if you want to take the risk of waiting few months as against a potential 5 years wait. Cheers. |
Cdq2017:Hi, Have you sorted your payment? If yes, can you please state date payment was made and the amount charged. Thanks. |
40manlappy:Very insightful conversation here. Another factor to consider, if one NOC was removed, would her CRS score fall below her ITA's draw? If No, the VO might have removed the lesser one (in years) and went with the other since she was still above her ITA's draw. Please confirm Merrymum |
Seyitorl:Hi, Truth be told, for two reasons your CRS will be low if your husband does not take the IELTS. 1. You have only BSc and 2. You're a bit advanced in age. You've lost significant points in those two factors then another 20 lost with your spouse not writing IELTS. The system does not really favour BSc alone, your age then coupled with spouse not writing IELTS. As a fact, if your husband is not too far off you in age, he is a much better candidate at being PA because of his two or more certificates. Use the CRS tool to permutate your scores but it will be good if you both write. You'd get to make up points lost in age. |
elfmann:Even outside exam condition , wetin that word and hm brother do me, I won't forget in a hurry. |
Mavor:On a very light note... You see something, you de find something. Yoruba translation might make sense ![]() |
Hello people, For those preparing for IELTS, please check these two videos. Both are on Writing, Task 2 - how to write your introduction and conclusion. I believe you'd find it useful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Y8cm8k2vzU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_NOI-ZOHcw |
SegunWamiri:Absolutely yes. To me, preparing for IELTS isn't really much of improving what is already known rather mastering what is needed to pass the exams. Time needed to prepare however depends on individual skills/strenght. |
dane15:Hi Dane, Your letter(s) won't fly. You need to have access to your POF. You'd agree that you do not have access to your cousin's and brother-in-law's account regardless if they can sponsor you or their status. However, if the strength of your proposed letter is to state that your cousin and brother-in-law will provide support should you not be able to adequately cater for yourself and family, then both of them can provide that support upfront by making the sum available now. Collect the monies and do a gift deed. This premise is based on the fact that you want to leverage on them, if they can vouch to do it few months away, then let them do it now. |
Canadianfly:I find his posts funny too, but do you know the truth? He was the one who found the missing link! With his question on POF which clearly was understated, her profile would definitely be ineligible. The guy actually found |
MaSisi:How about you, what do you do? If you work experience falls in any of the required NOC category (A, B or 0) then let no one tell you you're not eligible. Use this link to check your eligibility http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/ee-start.asp and this to check your CRS http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp However, as said by nnekdre, you may wish to consider rewriting IELTS to have a decent CRS. Modified: Please run from that agent, POF for family of 6 is $29,236. For him to state 24k says a lot about his competence. Moreover, you can DIY. |
, wetin that word and hm brother do me, I won't forget in a hurry.
