suzan404:I know of no reason why you should not be Miss Nairaland...of our time |
Mimzy, go on girl. We are here for you |
Why do the mods keep on littering the front page with boring repeated stories? Someone posted the same story, same pictures yesterday with different headline. Later today, someone will still report with entirely different headline, same mods will push to the frontpage. Nairaland is becoming a child's playground for attention seekers. |
Benjom:Ajah is a slum, forget the hype. If you have never been there. Those images posted by the Op say a thousand words. Those areas you believe are ghettos, are enjoying some level of environmental and infrastructural respite compared to Ajah. |
Probably the dress she bought from the young man and owed N18,000. https://www.nairaland.com/3164347/genevieve-nnaji-owing-me-n18000 BTW, the dress sits well on her. She should encourage the young man by settling the N18,000 |
alt3r3g0:My single headache with Niger Delta Region, which I sadly belong. Militancy in this region will never incite in me any sympathy for the region. The impoverish condition of the people and environment of Niger Delta is self-inflicted. Fed Government has put in best effort. Corporate organisations, NGOs, Multi-national corps, even individual have rendered self-less services to Niger Delta, but embarrassingly all the goodwill have been hijacked and squandered with impunity by greedy leaders of these regions. Niger Delta Ministry and Niger Delta Development Commission are some of the efforts put in by government to bring respite to the region but these parastatal have become drained-pipes driven by personal greed. 13% derivation fund has never been accounted for yet govt keeps funding. It's a pity that people actually believe Niger Delta Avengers are fighting a just cause. It's for their pocket. Their fight should have been directed to the governors of the regions, community leaders and stakeholders. They are the bane of development and progress in ND. Militancy will only worsen the economic, social and moral life of the people. I agree, if there is no paradigm shift in attitude of the people, even if the the region has 100% control of the oil, they can never experience any positive change. Same with regional government campaigned in many quarters. Our attitude will determine our altitude as a country. Peace! |
I don't understand this arrangement. Land and Resources in Nigeria are owned by the government. Locating oil blocs to 'people' in Niger Delta instead of the community is flawed. This arrangement will continue to enrich few pockets and impoverish the people more. How does this arrangement help the Niger Delta communities? Locating the blocs to the community will make more sense than individuals. Oil blocs are collective treasures, as long as we remain one Nigeria - it should be shared judiciously. Government should resist intimidation whatsoever and act right. |
acxlers2014:Above are worth pondering. I think I like your witty words |
Uganda and Kenya are gradually becoming the hub of African entertainment. Their stories recently are mind-blowing. Seems people there are angrier than Nigerians |
Gidoka:What is strange here? People die every seconds. Anybody can die anytime. It's natural bro |
Deadlytruth:The Reason faceless cowards called Niger Delta Avengers can never win. Violence will always beget violence. Peace begets peace. Saro-Wiwa's peaceful activism helped escalated the plight of Niger Delta Regions to International perspective in a positive way. But MEND, Avengers destroyed public goodwill and sympathy by their criminal activities. Let see how far they can go. Militants before them tried but achieved nothing at the end but aggravated impoverishment of the communities in the region. Lesson has not been learnt. |
ChimaAdeoye:Nigerians actually believe NDA is fighting for Niger Deltans? Hell No! These criminals are fighting for their own pocket. The emergence of this group is brought about by "business went wrong". They will be defeated and shown the same way as Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Niger Delta Vigilante (NDV) and the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND). You can't fight the government and win. Govt will always be the victor. If you believe violence will always get you your right, think again and think again. It will leads to more violence Ken Saro-Wiwa was a true fighter for the people. The Niger Deltan women were dogged and braved fighters of the people. These were some of the activists that escalated the plights of these regions to international perspective through their peaceful and round-table actions. Their fights earned the regions certain attentions from the Nigerian govt, UNEP, Oil Companies in the region, Corporate Organisations, NGOs, even individuals. Niger Delta Avengers will only aggravate the wretched conditions of the regions largely brought by her poor leadership. |

temptnow:The recent activities of the so-called Niger Delta Avengers have completely eroded by sympathy for these regions. Am sure International communities with complexities of investment in that region feel the same way. These investment owners would stop at nothing in supporting the Nigerian govt to deal with these criminals. NDAers erroneously think they can intimidate the govt. Let the govt use it might and lay waste to these criminals who brings nothing but more hardship to the people of these regions for their selfish interest. |
kingphilip:What do you suggest? Government should look the other way while these criminals relish in their own destruction. Defiance and terrorism to collective interest should be addressed with utmost force. |
kingphilip:Too late for dialogue. These guys are criminals and terrorists. Govt should waste them for taking pleasure in destroying our collective treasure |
Thumbs up OP.I couldn't help but 'Like & Share' your submissions. It made moral sense to me. We had this same discourse in our office this morning, with our MD/CEO lending his voice - opinions. As a Nigerian, I made my argument along this line. A lot has been given to these regions (I am privileged to witness some) but nothing has been shown for it. The leaders of these regions think nothing but incurable self-enrichment. They don't care and are not ready for real development of these regions. The oil companies are doing massive CSR, more often than not the funds end up in the pockets of community leaders. Companies contracted to work for these oil companies in the regions are paying royalties to these communities before they can be allowed to work in peace. Royalties are in millions (depending on the value of your contracts). These monies end up in individual and minor few pockets. Sometimes they frustrate companies coming to invest in these communities, in terms building schools, road, SMEs - they prefer these gestures be converted to cash, while a few leaders pocket the money. Their leaders impoverish the people more than the federal government. Ignorance (militancy) will worsen their dire situation. They think they can win by taking up arms and destroying the collective treasures. Wrong move! Niger Delta militants are a passing-phase, government will win at the end continue to ignore them. Violence brings nothing but more violence and pains. |
sylvalord:I can see right through your soul. Calm down dude! Your biscuit is save with me |
martineverest:We share the same thoughts. The only coach who kills talents with his myopic game plan. Rashford should be wary of him. He will sure put his tail in between his leg and toe the path of LVG. He couldnt rescue Chelsea, he will not rescue Man u. Man U problem wasnt entirely coach but players. Man u at this point needs a coach to inspire them to better their lots. Like what Brendan Rogers did at Liverpool, not an arrogant coach who believes in faded-A+plus players only. Man u problem has just been compounded. Quote me at the end of 2016/2017 EPL season. |
White beards, white shirt with multi-colored shoes is crass fashion. It's a BIG miss for me |
SMH for Nigerians. Mere job advert, they start blaming the country. There's nothing absolutely wrong with the job advertorial. There's no law in Nigeria that specify how to place a job advert. The advertorial does not in any way compel any reader to apply. What is wrong is the op finding everything wrong in the advertorial and blaming the country for such advertorial. |
jauntty:NLC should try and see if it will work. If PENGASSAN/NUPENG could distant itself from the planned action, it's already DoA. I'll rather roll with the present punches and look forward to a positive future. Subsidy removal is way to go and it would encourage competitions in the sector. There are more pressing issues to strike against. NLC threat is coming too little too late. Sheer waste of time and resources. |
mysterydude:The strike will not help the issue at hand. Rather, it will worsen it. Come to think of it, Nigerian have been buying PMS N150 - 200/per litre since last year. Wondering why the official price ceiling @145 made most Nigerians go hay wire. Most of the commercial vehicle operators run on Diesel Engines and have no business hiking their fares. Dealers in Kerosine have equally hiked their prices. It shows you how despicable and fantastically corrode Nigerians are. We like to whine and complain even when we don't have solutions to offer. Subsidy removal is a courageous step in the right direction on the part of the government. President Buhari (not APC) has good intentions. Minority Nigerians raped the majority of Nigerians far too long in this fuel subsidy game. I'll not die, it will get better. Real Change does not come over night. Nigeria had strayed deep in distress, it needs holistic approach to bring her back to glory. Patience is a virtue. |
john4reala:Muahahahahahaha!! I have never read anything as funny as this in a long while |
jaybee3:Are you saying it's acceptable to evade tax and rather use the money to pay tithe than use it for humanity sake? It's already inconsiderate and insensitive taxing a benevolent act. You'll agree me that even Christians evade tax yet don't care about humanity with their wealth. |
jabojafa:Rub God? How? Explain. I'll rather support the needy, give to the church as much as I can possibly give, than paying your adulterated, manipulative so-called 10% bribe for blessing (as you peeps put it). You don't seem to know your Bible. Tithe was annulled with the annulment of Levitical Priesthood. You are a freeborn in the order of Melchizedek and no longer bound by Levitical laws. Wise up!! |
jaybee3:Is it not morally justifiable to manipulate the tax and rather give back to the society than manipulate the same tax and fund an individual in the name of pastor who already has all the means?. Many will perish because of religion. |
No, pay tithe, the church will pay your brother's fee as they always pay. Nigerians! will always be religious but not Godly Last I checked, the richest men in the world don't pay tithe to get richer, they build foundations and give back to the society - one of the secrets of their getting richer - (GIVING) |
I always like this guy. He's always smilling, no matter how serious his opponent looks |
