Papa50000: I picked up my visa Friday at the lekki office. This is how my interview went.

VO: What school
Told him
VO: Why this school?
Told him.
There are many reasons that makes your own school unique. I got this kind of information from the school website.
VO: Looks at my I_20 and asks who wants to sponsor you?
I told him my elder brother
VO: He says so your elder brother has all this money?
I told him yes o(yes sir, no say yes o lol)
VO: He says what does he do?
He owns a ___ business and I work for the company too.
VO: what does the company do, I told him.
VO: He asked me to list the assets we own
I listed it(Use professional terms where necessary)
VO: What is the revenue of the company?
I told him
VO: He says he meant revenue not income. Dunno why he wanted revenue and income story> I told him the revenue and income sharply.
VO: What university did you attend.
I told him
VO: Did u write a test
I said Gmat
VO: Where is the test result
I showed him
He goes through the test results
VO: Did you apply to any other schools?
YES 2 SCHOOLS
VO: He says what schools
Listed it, A and B
VO: He said did I get accepted?
I said I got accepted to B
VO: But not A?
I said I was not accepted to A
VO: What is your salary?
I told him
VO: You earn that?
I said yes o(yes sir, no say yes o lol)
VO: He then said what will I do when I finish my program
I said I will take on more duties at the firm I work for. ride on and say the specifics linking it to what you will gain in your masters or undergraduate program.
After he gave me the ticket. He chatted me up a bit. after which I said thank you and pulled out.
Quotes in this forum kept me going as I took out 2-3 weeks preparing for my interview.

Keys I think worked for me.
1. I dressed well. Some say dress well, some say it does not matter. See what I think, to be on the safe side I think u should. There are some questions they will ask you, your image will help you convey the answer more than your answer itself. Look like the case you presenting. I don't mean if you are a civil engineer that you should wear an helmet. lol. My thoughts.
2. Be humble. If u make a mistake like I did in an instance look and act sorry, not too sorry sha, Like sorry sir I did not know that is what you meant. Be brave and listen attentively for the next questions so your shine comes back. The VO gave the guy before me the green ticket, but the guy before this guy was I dont know what word. The VO asked him what university did you attended, he said, I attended the prestigious University of ....... I wonder why the word prestigious! What is your salary? He said my basic salary is about 170 thousand and allowances are bla bla bla. I think concise answers help. His whole interview went along that line. Then it got to what was your favorite subject in school? He said accounting. then what is accounting? He did not define it well from what I heard sha..
3. if he chats you up... respond well and interestingly
4. Did not know he was giving me till he cut the ticket...So u have to be composed all thru...hope for the best in that little time.

hbabe: I advise you confront him and tell him how his cheating affects you.
The weird thing is that s[b]o many guys who cheat, actually love their partners and cheating is just a way of having fun [/b]just like some like partying, hanging out with friends or drinking beer in beer parlours.
Talk to him and hope he changes; if he does not/is unable to change his ways then you have some serious thinking/decision to make.

Following is the excerpt of the interview I had at counter 1 Lagos embassy. This guy was rejecting virtually everybody, but God

I had the sweetest and easiest visa interview of all times
V.O : Why do you want to go to the US
Me: To study for a PhD in Polymer Science Engineering
V.O: Did you take the GRE
Me: Yes I did
V.O: May I have the scoresheet
Me: Sure, here they are(gave him)
V.O: Looks at I 20 and says he needs a covering letter to corroborate what the I 20 says
Me: I told him I didn't have any letter and told him the I 20 clearly states everything. I then said however, I have the admission letter and showed him.
V.O: What research areas in PSE are you interested in?
Me:Told him about my interest in the research in fuel cells and its relation to renewable
energy.
V.O: What do you intend to do after your PhD?
Me: I would like to earn my Phd within time frame after which I will ultimately come back to Nigeria to Lecture
V.O: When does your school resume
Me: 4th September, 2012
V.O: You know of the 30day rule
Me: Sure I do.
V.O: You can collect your visa on Monday at Ikeja, Congratulations, have a safe trip
Me: Thank you ( I was totally overwhelmed at this stage)


The most intriguing part of the interview was that he didnt look at my DS 160 , which I felt had some errors, did not request for any document from me no statement or AOS etc and did no type a single thing
It was just God's grace and I am very thankful

PinkDiamond: I have known my boyfriend for four years now. We became friends in March of 2008. Since the beginning he has always wanted to be my boyfriend, he has always said that I am the one that he wants to marry. I never gave him a chance, I only saw him as a friend. He has been failing his classes, but now he seems to be trying to get better grades, but even so, he is not putting forth full effort. He does not value education.

For his birthday I bought him blackberry, for my birthday he gave me a handwritten letter. For Christmas I bought him I-Pod, in return he said he forgot to buy me a present. On valentines day, he bought me nothing because he said that he thought I would not care. I feel I deserve better than this.

Many times I have tried to leave him, but still he finds a way to get me to stay. He usually will change for about a week, then he will go back to maltreating me. My parents have met him and they believe that he is a wonderful boy. God sent even. My parents went to a babalawo, and even the babalawo said that my boyfriend is God sent. That I should cherish him, and not be so proud. The babalawo said that he can sense that I want to pull away from my boyfriend, but that I should just stick with him, because he is the only one that truly loves me and that no other man will love me like he does.

Despite all of his recent bad behavior, one thing that I can say for certain is that he has never cheated on me. He has stayed loyal and faithful to me since the first day he became my boyfriend. This is one thing that I am certain of. I am always the only woman in his focus, he loves nobody else and he has no desire to love anybody else but me. Even when I got into an argument with his sister, he immediately took my side and bannished her. His loyalty to me is something very extreme. Something like I have never before experienced. This is why it is so hard for me to leave him, because I fear that if I leave him that I may end up with a man who cheats on me and has many other women. I don't know if I will ever find such a loyal man. His good friend of 4 years spoke ill of me, and immediately my boyfriend bannished him and told him never to speak to him again. If anyone disrespects me, he will bannish them immediately! I have never seen any boyfriend to do that for me except for him.

Please. Someone advise me on what to do. Because I am not happy, and this is getting too much for me to endure. I am a good girl, I face my studies, and I don't sneak around. I lost my virginity to my boyfriend, and he is the only man that I have been with sexually. I don't think I deserve some of the bad treatment that he is giving me. My parents do not know of my boyfriend's bad behaviors, and I am afraid to tell them, for I fear that they might bannish him. But at the same time, I am not happy, but I feel I am forced to stay with him. Everyday they sit me down and tell me to humble myself to him and that he is the one for me, when they don't even know all of what I am going through. They only know what the babalawo is telling them. Please someone advise me. I am not happy. Why is it that the babalawo is not seeing all of the bad things in him? I am afraid to leave this relationship now, because now I am afraid that he is right, and that there may be nobody else that can love me like my boyfriend. But if he is maltreating me and I am not happy, then what is the point? I am even fearing the day that he asks me to marry him, as I feel that it is fast approaching, and I will be trapped. Please. Somebody help me.

The VO did nt bother to look at hs well prepared documents.
He only asked him what he has been doing since he graduated from school and he told him. After which he denied him.
His school is suppose to resume by 2nd week of August, what can he do now so as nt to miss ds addmission.
He has been so down cast to narate all that transpired between him and d VO, if nt i would have published word by words.
So house, what immediate action can he take to get interviewd again and does he need to pay for interview again?

People, I just believed she is the perfect match for me, beside we all don’t end up getting married to the people we ones dated so why give up because she said she has a boyfriend? She is a very pretty lady and that she knows, she is 23yrs old and a final year student of a university in 9ja.
I have been trying to make things work but to no avail, she is just not helping out, she has changed her phone numbers I guess, though she told me her phone got lost but she does use a mobile phone to reply my messages on Facebook. She still reminds me of her boyfriend, am not sure if he really wants to marry her, because to me I won’t waste a day if she says yes to me.
I am just confused, I don’t know if I should continue bordering her or let go? I am not getting any younger and I don’t want to settle for less in terms of marriage. I have planned visiting 9ja ones in a year or twice until I get married. Now I know finding a wife is not an easy task.

solbil: there is this lady i really want. i asked her if we could find time to talk and she told me she has got no time at that point. i forgot to collect her contact. the next time we met i asked if we could talk and she said she was going to sign her course form. i said ok but she has to give me her number. she said no she will take mine instead that she would call me. i gave my number to her, i waited and she did not call. that evening, she came around the class where i was studying looking for a place to sit. when she looked my way (and i believe she saw me) she immediately wore a kind of look in her face which i interpreted as 'oh this boy again!' do you think she already knows what i am trying to get? becos i have not told her i love her. i only asked if we could be friends which she agreed. she is about 1.5 feet taller than me (i get embarrassed by that too to be honest) do you think she is a bit disappointed that i am not quite the boy she wants hence she acts this way? help me understand her. as ladies, put yourselves in her shoes and explain her psychology to me. whats your advice to me?
