slimyem: He's my friend's fiance.he's the only child whose mum will do anything for.
He doesnt have a job per se but his mum wants him to get married.the woman loves my friend, gives her pocket money, buys her stuff, call her and do all other assumed responsibilities of the fiance asides intimacycheesy.
When she sensed my friend wasn't comfortable coming to visit the guy in her house, she rented a 3-bedroom apartment for him and equipped it.
She's responsible for EVERYTHING in the house and even gives my gf money to cook food for her son if she isnt able to send food stuff and ingredients down.

Whenever the guys broke,he calls mummy and she responds.
Though he says he's trying to make money but his avenues are not clear-cut.trying to land contracts and bla-bla and hanging around political god-fathers.
A date has being fixed for introductions and an assumed wedding date already.
What kind of a husband would he be because technically he's nothing without his mum?
My friend is worried and so am i for her.
Either he is handicap or has psychological problems. . . . Watch this space
RomanceRe: My Fiance Is A Virgin by kpolli(m): 2:29pm On Jun 18, 2012
AngelEbi: I saw a recent thread asking ladies if they would like to marry a virgin and I was shocked at d replies.
I am engaged to a virgin n I don't regret it one bit.

Since I joined NL, I have read stories of sexcapades (real and imagined) and I have come to realise that sex has been idolised by Nigerians. Even some pastors fall prey to this menace.

When my fiance told me he was a virgin, I was surprised but not really shocked cos I came to understand why his friends call him 'POPE'.
Many people would think he is some sort of geek or weirdo that's why he remained a virgin but that's so not true. He is what you would call tall, dark and handsome and let me not forget the fact that he is rich so if he doesn't go to the ladies, they would come to him.

He chose to remain a virgin cos he gave his life to Christ as a teenager and has walked with God ever since, keeping the rules and tennets especially that for sexual immorality.

Life with a virgin is so much fun as I am at liberty to compare since I am not a virgin and I am so looking forward to my wedding nite.
For the ladies that swear they cant date a virgin cos he is not a real man, well, my man is a virgin and I am loving him more by the day. I ave decided that I am not going to be the reason why he would fall by his decision and I pray God to help me.

For the virgin guys, thumbs up. I personally think you guys are cute ... this is my two cents.

He probably hasn't picked a date yet cos when I log in, I don't see the option to schedule but reschedule or cancel

TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part2 by kpolli(m): 11:27pm On Jun 16, 2012
phy: You simply view available dates by logging to the site and do as if you want to schedule one and you'll be able to see available days.
You can't schedule without cancelling the previous date. . . So he can't view the available dates until he cancels his present appointment

liteville: I also feel greatly indebted to come back here and say thank you to everyone who has at anytime contributed to this forum. I really can't count the number of times I've spent on this particular thread digesting the information in there. I read almost the entire thread starting from the "1st season" and of course the efforts have paid off. I went for my visa interview on Monday and it was approved. Below is the excerpt of the interview;

I had a little challenge before my interview. All applicants were being given a slip as we entered and we were being called for the document verification, biometrics and interview in a definite order. When I finished my biometrics and was waiting to be called for the interview, my number was skipped, I thought it was just an oversight so I didn't budge initially, but after about 6-7 people (whose number were after mine) did with my own name not called, I went to the woman who did the verification and she directed me to go to one window, where I was later directed to another window for my interview.

VO: Why have you chosen to go to the US for your studies?
Me: Because the US has a proven track record when it comes to educational advancement and they also have an excellent reputation in research activity

VO: How did you hear about the school?
Me: I came across one of their publications when I was preparing for my undergraduate research and besides a senior colleague is presently studying there.

VO: So you're working, where do you work?
Me: Told her the name of the company

VO: In what capacity
Me: Told her

VO: So how do you intend to pay for your fees
Me: Told her I got a graduate assistantship and my uncle will be paying for the rest

VO: Can I see your uncle's bank statement (before she completed the statement, she changed her mind and asked if I sat for any exam to qualify for the award and she requested to see them)
Me: Told her I sat GRE and TOEFL

VO: Did you apply to other schools?
Me: Yes, 4 other schools

VO: Mention them
Me: I did (thereafter, she said the schools I mentioned were rather random) and I explained that they're not random, that they all have something in common, and that's a lot of expertise in my research area ( I mentioned the research area)

VO: she chuckled; I really don't know what your research area is all about anyway.

You can go and pick up your visa on Friday, sorry Thursday.
Me: I said 'thanks' and I left her window.

PS: A black American lady interviewed me. When I got there initially, she was in charge of biometrics. A couple of friends said she'd interviewed some people earlier and that she was rather nasty.

I've heard a lot of stories before I went for my interview and I must confess it's really not as scary as it seems outside. (the interview wasn't up to 5 mins) Those who couldn't express themselves clearly were denied (not like my responses flowed well, but I was able to articulate myself and I think my responses made sense) Besides studying nairaland night and day, I made a list of my own possible questions and my own responses and virtually all the questions were asked based on the one I prepared for myself.
Also, my TOEFL had expired when I went for the interview but that was the TOEFL I used to secure the admission so I felt there was no need to take another one.
Another thing is, it's been repeated times without number, the importance of writing standardized tests (GRE and TOEFL; mind you that was the only document that was requested for me), I believe it shows your academic seriousness especially if you have a good score. You may be asked and you may not, but why would you want to take chances. The only exception to this rule would be, if you have a very very good transcript (and I'm talking 1st class students here) that may be convincing as to why your GRE was waived. In my own opinion, very few good schools would give you admission without GRE and the consular officers know this as well.
Lastly, God's favor is very important, I guess one can't ask enough for this. Prepare and pray well, and I believe you'll also have a good story to share at the end of the day.
To the old and new contributors -- gongo aso, superbrain, ojap, aroy1, impreriouxx, davidylan and so many others, thank you very much.
Congrats bro

FamilyRe: 12 Things Women Do Better Than Men by kpolli(m): 2:23pm On Jun 14, 2012
[quote author=Sisi_Kill]Not trying to Start a war here, just want the guys to bow down at the temple of our awesomeness cool (i'm just joking oh....a little tongue tongue)

Over at Cosmo, we love men. But we kept coming across tons of studies proving women have some amazing abilities that men lack. So, we rounded up some of our favorites. Hello, ego boost!

1. We're cleaner.
A study from San Diego State University of offices across the U.S. found that men's desks and offices are germier than women's. Researchers discovered that men had anywhere from 10 to 20 percent more bacteria in their workspaces than women-and scientists say it's because they tend to be less hygenic. Ick

2. We interview better.
A new study out of the University of Western Ontario found that women are better at handling the stress of a job interview. Researchers found that, while women get more freaked beforehand about interviewing, we do better in the actual event. Why? We prepare more before the big moment.

3. We evolve hotter.
A recent study revealed that women are getting better looking through evolution; meanwhile, men are staying the same. After following more than 2,000 people through four decades of life, the study showed that attractive women had 16 percent more children than average-looking chicks and that beautiful people are 36 percent more likely to have a daughter as their firstborn. All those gorgeous daughters mean more beautiful women than in past generations.

4.We survive car accidents more often.
This is sad but true: Men are 77 percent more likely to die in a car accident than women, according to a study done by Carnegie Mellon University. Our boyfriends should be thanking us when we nag them to "Wear your seatbelt!"

5. We're better at seeking comfort.
A Mind survey of 2,000 people revealed that women are far more likely than men to talk through their problems. Fifty-three percent of women talk to their friends about what's stressing them out, as opposed to 29 percent of men

6. We're more recession-proof.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 80 percent of those who have lost their jobs since December 2007 have been men. Ouch. This could be because male-dominated fields have been hit the hardest, like manufacturing and finance. That really sucks...but hey, maybe it's time more men became nurses and educators.

7. We graduate college more often.

We already know that female enrollment is higher than male, but the Department of Education's statistics reveal that men are also less likely than women to graduate and get their bachelor's degrees. Men are also more likely to take longer than five years to complete their degree.

8. We eat healthier.
A survey of more than 14,000 people, conducted by the University of Minnesota, showed that women choose far healthier foods than men. While men are more likely to chow down on frozen pizza and red meat, women are piling fruits and veggies onto their plates. It all sounds pretty obvious, but we get so much grief for our chocolate addictions that we just had to point this one out!

9. We have stronger immune systems.
No wonder men act like such babies when they have a sniffle - women really do have stronger immune systems than men! If there are little battles going on in our bodies, women have a secret weapon: estrogen. A study done by McGill University indicated that estrogen gives women an edge when it comes to fighting off infections. That's because estrogen confronts a certain enzyme that often hinders the body's first line of defense against bacteria and viruses.

10. We live longer.
Among the world's population of those who are over 100 years old, 85 percent are women, according to the New England Centenarian Study. In general, women continue to live five to 10 years longer than men as well ( I bet #4 and 9 have a lot to do with this cheesy )

11. We're better managers, especially in this economy.
This one is a little controversial, but a slew of experts are confident that women make greater bosses because they are better listeners, mentors, problem solvers, and multitaskers than their male counterparts. In a recent Daily News article, management expert Jay Forte said, "It's a very service-oriented economy [right now], so you need employees to be motivated. Women are better connectors than men and more astute about knowing how to activate passion in their employees."

12. We invest better.
A study of 100,000 portfolios showed that women's investment returns outperform men's, 18 percent to 11 percent. This could be because women are typically more cautious with their investment decisions and think longer term.

13. You deceive yourselves more
A study by researchers on NL has proven that women can deceive themselves ehn. . . . CHAI
