PMP vs. PRINCE2 Certificates

What's the difference between the PMP and
PRINCE2 certifications? Which one should I
choose? Which one's better for my career?
Well, there are a lot of questions like this; after
all, being certified seems more and more
important these days. I'm going to provide you
with as much information as I can, on this
comparison, hoping you can make a more
educated decision.
Differences in a Nutshell
Well, in a table actually! There are two common certificates for PRINCE2, the
PRINCE2 Foundation (the simple one), and the PRINCE2 Practitioner (the
advanced one). I'll compare these two with the PMP certification.

What's PMP?
PMP is short for Project Management Professional, and is a professional certificate
from PMI (Project Management Institute). PMI is a USA based non-for-profit
organisation focused on project management, which has developed and
published a number of standards, including:
A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide).
The Standard for Program Management.
The Standard for Portfolio Management.
Organisational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3®).
And also a number of practice standards and frameworks:
Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.
Practice Standard for Earned Value Management.
Practice Standard for Project Configuration Management.
Practice Standard for Work Breakdown Structures.
Practice Standard for Scheduling.
Project Manager Competency Development Framework.
There's no doubt that PMBOK Guide is the most famous standard among these,
and people are using it (or trying to use it) worldwide; that's why it even has
three extensions:
Software Extension to the PMBOK Guide.
Construction Extension to the PMBOK Guide.
Government Extension to the PMBOK Guide.
These help you use the PMBOK Guide more effectively in certain application
areas.

PMI has recently added a line of practice guides, which includes:
Managing Changes in Organisations: A Practice Guide.
These are a great source of knowledge for everyone involved in the project
management field, and you should definitely be serious about using them.
PMI also has a number of certifications. Once you are interested to, and have the
requirements, you can take the exams and you will be awarded with globally
recognised certificates upon passing the exams, which is great, not only because
you can easily prove your knowledge, but also because in the process of
preparing for the exams, you will learn a lot and you will have to fill in a lot of
gaps in your knowledge. These are the PMI's certifications:
Project Management Professional (PMP)® - as you might guess, this is
about the PMBOK Guide, but you should know that the exam questions are
about the project management body of knowledge in general, and the
PMBOK Guide is just a part of it; well, an important part.
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® - a simple form of PMP.
Program Management Professional (PgMP)®.
Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)SM.
PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® - yes, there's no standalone
publication for this yet, but there's a syllabus and they award certifications.
PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)®.
PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)® - lookout all of you project planners
out there, this is useful for you.
OPM3® Professional Certification.
Well, that's all. Let's now take a look at PRINCE2.
What are PRINCE2 Certifications?
PRINCE2 is a project management methodology previously owned by the UK's
Cabinet Office. PRINCE2, among other "Best Practices" are now owned by
AXELOS, a new joint venture company in the UK. This "Best Practice" family
consist of the following:
PRINCE2 - project management.
MSP - program management.
MoP - portfolio management.
M_o_R - risk management.
MoV - value management.
P3O - project, program, and portfolio management offices (PMO).
P3M3 - project, program, and portfolio management maturity model.
ITIL - IT service management.
And of course, there are exams and certifications for all of them; usually in two
levels of Foundation and Practitioner.

There are three levels of certification for PRINCE2:
PRINCE2 Foundation - it's the simple one.
PRINCE2 Practitioner - it's the important one.
PRINCE2 Professional - well, it's just too hard!
When people are talking about PRINCE2 certifications, they usually refer to the
PRINCE2 Foundation and PRINCE2 Practitioner. The former is easier than PMP
and it's unfair to compare them, while the latter is as hard as PMP, or as some
people believe, even harder than PMP. The main source for both the Foundation
and Practitioner exams is an official publication named "Managing Successful
Projects with PRINCE2." I'll cover both PRINCE2 certifications in this article.
Different Viewpoints on the PMBOK Guide and
PRINCE2
You should know that there's a big difference between the PMBOK Guide and
PRINCE2. The PMBOK Guide is a prescriptive knowledge, while PRINCE2 is a
descriptive methodology. PRINCE2 answers WHAT, WHEN, and WHOM questions,
while PMBOK Guide answers HOW questions.
So, which one do you need? Obviously both of them!
Just take a look at the PMBOK Guide 5th Edition, page 2, "This standard is a
guide rather than a specific methodology. One can use different methodologies
and tools (e.g. agile, waterfall, PRINCE2) to implement the project management
framework." And there's a similar statement in the official PRINCE2 manual,
pages 230 and 231, which also mentions the PMBOK Guide. Therefore, these two
standards are not competitors, you need both of them (or similar replacements
for each of them) to be able to manage your projects successfully.
Where are They Used in the World?
Well, PMBOK Guide and PRINCE2 are not competitors, but most people do not
believe so, and that's why many people are trying to decide which one is better
for them; which is a wrong question! None of them replaces the other one, they
are different things. But anyway, each of them are better known in different
countries. PMBOK and PMP are better known in the USA, Canada, Middle East,
and Australia, while PRINCE2 is better known in the UK, Europe, and Australia.
How's the Exams?
The big difference between the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam and the other two is
that the Practitioner exam questions are based on a scenario. The exam papers
describe a project and you have to answer different questions based on that
scenario. The other two exams are a collection of normal abstract multiple choice
questions which are completely independent.

Passing the PRINCE2 Foundation exam is the easiest among these three. The
PMP and the PRINCE2 Practitioner are in the same level; some people believe
that the PMP exam is harder, and others believe that PRINCE2 Practitioner is
harder.
What's the Prerequisites?
Not everyone can take the exams! Almost all of them require you to pass a
standard course, either online, or in a physical classroom. PRINCE2 Foundation
doesn't have any other prerequisite, and PRINCE2 Practitioner has only one
more: being certified as PRINCE2 Foundation. PMP exam has more prerequisites
though; you need to have a certain amount of relative experience.
How to Register for the Exam
OK, let's say you've decided to take the exam and you're ready; how should you
register to take the exam? The training organisations have an important role in
your PRINCE2 certification process; you normally cannot take the exam directly
from AXELOS. So, be careful with the organisation you choose. And by the way,
the accelerated training organisations are allowed to set their own prices, that's
why you see different prices in different websites.
The PMP exam on the other hand, is very straightforward; you go to the pmi.org
website, apply and pay, and they give you access to book the exam in the
Prometric website as soon as your application is accepted.
Cost!
And yes, they cost you both time, and money. But don't worry, it's worth it.
For the PMP exam, you should pay €465/$555 if you're not a member. You can
simply pay €97/$129 to become a member and the exam price would become
€340/$405.
The PRINCE2 exams do not have a fixed price; it depends on the training
organisation you've chosen. It's usually around €270/$365 for the PRINCE2
Foundation and €360/$485 for the PRINCE2 Practitioner, excluding the cost of
the course.
You might need to pay a price for the courses in all three cases, which usually
starts at about €40 for the most affordable online PMP courses and €70 for the
most affordable PRINCE2 courses.
In the case of PRINCE2 Practitioner, you should also pay a fee for renewing your
certificate by taking a short exam. You would also like to have the official
publications. You should buy the PRINCE2 publications separately, but you can
download all the PMI publications for free, once you become a member.

Source of the Exam
The source of the PRINCE2 exams is the official manual, "Managing Successful
Projects with PRINCE2." The main source of the PMP exam is the "PMBOK Guide",
but the exam is not limited to the guide and you need to have a broader
knowledge. Therefore, you should read a PMP exam preparation book or/and take
a good-enough online/classroom course.
Conclusion
OK, I hope you've found all the information you were looking for. If you're going
to decide, I strongly suggest you remember that PRINCE2 and PMBOK Guide are
not competitors, and you'd better learn both of them. In case of getting certified,
why not get both types of certifications? If you would like to, this is my
suggestion:
Learn both PRINCE2 and PMBOK Guide in 1. an introductory level.
2. Learn PRINCE2 more seriously.
3. Take and pass the PRINCE2 Foundation exam.
4. Learn PMBOK Guide super-seriously.
5. Take and pass the PMP exam.
6. Learn PRINCE2 super-seriously.
7. Take and Pass the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam.
And don't stop there! There;s a lot more to learn, including:
Agile methods such as Scrum.
Programme management.
Portfolio management.
And you can also improve your theme knowledge and techniques, such as risk
management, benefits management, configuration management, scheduling, etc.

The US government are hypocrites. Which country abuses human rights more than Saudi Arabia where women are nothing more than chattels owned by men yet they have full US backing? What of the US's records of Human Rights violations? They are the worst. While it's true that the Nigerian government can turn to other sources for buying armaments it has been reported that the same US (awon bastaaards)have applied political pressure to stop Nigeria buying from said other sources. I'm not a Gowon fan but the man is 100% right the U.S is no friend of Nigeria! Fact.

This is a brief note for people that are curious about the effects of the Naira devaluation on their lives. This brief note avoids technical economics jargon and is understandable to all. This note addresses a few but significant aspects of your daily life and attempts to explain the effects of the devaluation on them.

Health

Sufferers of long term problems (diabetes,sickle cell,etc) will see the cost of medicine rise sharply. This is because the majority of medicines are imported. As the Naira is devalued more Naira is needed to buy said drugs from the international markets. Subsequently the higher cost of purchase by drugs importers are filtered down to buyers so importers can make a profit.

Food

The famous price of garri question. Unfortunately the price of garri will be affected even though it is manufactured locally. The reason is simple. There are many processes involved from Cassava harvesting to the point where garri is served on the table. Some of the processes ( i. e transport ) is dependent on fuel which in turn is affected by the devaluation as we import many oil products. Also going forwards when the fuel subsidies are cut as a result of stress from the devaluation,fuel prices will rise. Meaning increased cost to the manufacturer to get you the garri also meaning increased costs to buy the garri. The second obvious points on food is that anything imported will go up in cost.

Employment

Job seekers will have an increasingly hard time securing work. Part of the reason for this comes from a new directive from CBN. To fight inflation CBN has decided to reduce Naira circulation. To do this they've recently asked banks to increase the amount of money they have in the coffers. For the banks to do this they have to reduce lending and the availability of credit facilities to all (including companies). As companies generally rely on banks to stay solvent and operational they will in turn react to survive. This means lay offs and freezes in hiring new staff.

Money in your pocket

It doesn't get any better here. In addition to all the above factors reducing your disposable income whatever you have left will not go as far. Devaluation means your purchasing power reduces and not just for imported products but for every goods and services in the economy.

We arrived here because we are a country overly reliant on Oil as revenue and we failed to property diversify our economy.

I posted a similar article that suggested a connivance of Chad with Boko Haram. Something this serious should have light thrown on it by a platform like Nairalander. But the moderators are more interested in putting infantile material on the front page. They forget it's not only children that visit this platform.

Here's what's happened:
1.Gobal oil prices have fallen.
2.New low oil prices are predicted to be long term.
3.Part of the cause is permanent low demand from places like the USA that has diversified to Shale.
4. Nigeria is HIGHLY dependent on oil revenue as it forms the biggest chunk of national income.

Here's what will happen:
1.Naira will devalue. (already happening )
2.Dollar Foreign reserve will drop. (already happening )
3.Infrastructure spending will drop.
4.Quality of services will become poorer.
5. Public sector spending will drop.
6.Public sector employment will drop.
7.Private sector employment will drop.
8.Number 7 above is due to private companies reliant on govt contracts.

One thing to watch closely in the coming months.

1. Will the govt sanction fiscal deficit and print more money in anticipation of the coming disaster?
A. Yes = Massive inflation and sky rocketing cost of goods and services. Naira becoming almost useless.
B. No = Wide spread austerity and suffering on an industrial scale.
C. A small mixture of A& B. = Our best option.

Following the expiration of October 1 deadline for the registration of unpainted commercial vehicles also known as “kabu kabu,” the FCT Transport Secretariat has begun the arrest of defaulters.

Mr. Jonathan Ivoke, the Secretary, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Transportation Secretariat, told journalists in Abuja on Thursday that commercial drivers would be arrested for using unpainted and unlicensed vehicles.
“There are so many traffic offences that go on daily; one of them is the use of illegal, unlicensed, unpainted, unauthorised and unidentified vehicles as taxi cabs and buses in FCT.
“They are aware that it is an offence to do so and it is our duty not only to remind them that it is an offence to do so but to enforce compliance,’’ Ivoke said.
He said that the FCT administration had told the estate mangers to allow only painted taxis to operate in their environs.
According to him, the secretariat had created five transit zones for effective enforcement and that it will monitor movement of vehicles in all the housing estates.
“We had meetings with the estate managers; we told them that they were mandated to allow only painted taxis that belong to licensed operators.
“They are supposed to allow only drivers that belong to these organisations to drive into their estates because we have their biometric information.
“We have already informed them that from October 1, we will commence strict implementation,’’ he said.
He said the administration has enough commercial vehicles to service the commuters in the FCT and so urged drivers to register with licensed operators.
He added that it was the duty of the government to protect the residents and to ensure that incidents of “one chance,” robbery and abuse of passengers were prevented.
He listed the licensed operators for taxis to include: National Union of Road Transport Workers Ltd; Painted Abuja Taxi (PAT); and Self-Employed Commercial Drivers Association (SECDA) limited.
Others are: Road Transport Employers Association and the National Association of Road Transport Ltd.
According to him, the FCT administration commenced a programme called replacement of rickety taxis in 2011 in order to phase out such taxi cabs.

There are strong indications that both the federal and Lagos governments might realise about 190 billion US dollars as royalty when Lekki deep seaport becomes fully operational in 2018.

Sandeep Parasramka, Chief Finance Officerof Lekki Port, made this disclosure during an interactive session with journalists at the weekend in Lagos.
He said the revenue accruable to both the state and federal agencies from taxes, royalties and duties is projected to amount to the tune of US$ 190 billion.
Parasramka, who used the opportunity to dispel rumor that the Lagos State government’s equity share of 28.15 percent had been slashed, explained that the modalities for the distribution of equity to all parties was arrived at a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting and doing contrary amounts to breach of contract.
“A shareholders’ agreement has already been signed between NPA, LASG and Tolaram to this effect. The Federal Executive Council approval given to the project on December 4, 2013, Lagos State Government (LASG) and Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) will hold 18.15% and 20% equity respectively in the project. Private consortium of investors led by the Tolaram Group will hold the remaining 61.8%.
“Substantiated by various market studies and a study on macro-economic impact conducted by independent, world renowned consultancy firms, we can proudly say that together with the government we are developing a project that has the potential to become the gateway to Nigeria for trade and foreign direct investment,” he added.
The accounting officer further stated that if the project holds US$ 190bn in stock by taxes, royalties and duties, “one can imagine what kind of revenues it can generate in future”.
Stressing further, he stated that once it becomes operational, the port is expected to generate directly and indirectly about 163,000 jobs during the concession period.
As part of its own contribution to the project, he stated that cash towards LASG’s equity contribution has already been put into the accounts of LPLE to be utilised in payments to the contractor after the start of construction activities on ground

It appears there is more than meets the eye with the Boko Haram insurgency plaguing Nigeria. Reports have started coming out that perhaps the Insurgency is being supported and fuelled by external "Oil Interests" of which Chad is allegedly playing a big role!

My purpose for posting this is so enlightened Nigerians can do more investigations and researches themselves. Please read below and then goggle things like Boko Haram and Chad,Oil and you may be surprised by the things that come up. I also beseech the moderator to put this out front so the truth whatever it may be will start to be exposed by Nigerians who have suffered so much.

Oil reserves exist in the Chad basin, which is centered in lake Chad which is surrounded by Niger, Cameroon, Chad and Nigeria. Chad is an exporter of oil which runs in 1070 km pipelines through Cameroon.

Nigeria’s exploration of oil from the Basin which extends through Yobe, Borno and Adamawa States have been hindered by Boko Haram insurgency which deliberately hampers commercial exploration. Oil has been discovered in Lake Chad but terrorism continues to push forward the mission of Nigeria to start drilling for commercial quantities.

“Vanguard learnt that the various technical personnel who provided support services for exploration activities have left the region from fear of being killed, while geologists in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), also shunned the volatile Basin in Borno State for fear of losing their lives.”

According to E&P mag: “Hopes of stepping up oil exploration in Nigeria’s Lake Chad Basin have been dashed by the brutal attacks of Islamic Boko Haram and the Ansaru sect terrorists in the country’s northeastern region.

Between 2011 and 2013 the Nigerian government provided $240 million to facilitate oil and gas exploration activities in the Lake Chad Basin and other northern hydrocarbon basins, including the Benue Trough, Bida Basin and the Sokoto-Rima Basin in northern Nigeria, said Jerry Gana, a former minister of information and chairman of the Northern Economic Summit.

Oil prospecting in the Lake Chad Basin was “yielding promising results and may lead to commercial exploration of oil and gas this year,” Nigeria’s Vice President Namadi Sambo said in a 2013 article in The Weekly Trust. Three blocks were identified for potential oil and gas exploration, and hopes were to begin exploration work by 4Q 2013 or 1Q 2014.”

The Boko Haram insurgency has conveniently provided Chad, under the government of Idriss Deby, unfettered access to oil under Nigeria’s soils through 3D oil drilling from within its territorial borders, which the country exports.

The neighboring Francophone colonies of France, Chad, Cameroon and Niger without compensating Nigeria are now drilling off and selling significant quantities of Nigeria’s oil under partnerships with multinationals. According to the “Rule of Capture,” this is legally permitted so long as the drilling is done within the individual’s territory and does not extend into the neighbors land; oil, water or other resource can be harvested from the State’s territory, even if being drained mostly from reserves underground held largely in neighboring States.

With the Hague Ruling in favour of Cameroon and the handing over of the Bakassi peninsula, the same way, Cameroon is drilling oil flowing out of Nigeria’s Gulf of Guinea, safely from its territory. The Hague ruling favored these foreign investors and French -Cameroon partners.

Big players have abandoned Nigeria and invested heavily in its neighbors. Billions of dollars have been invested by multinationals in the Lake Chad exploration in Chad and this oil is tapped through Chad. The over 2 billion oil reserves are flowing through the Chad-Cameroon pipeline (soon to extend to Niger), leaving terror bedeviled Nigeria out of the loop.

Currently, oil from Lake Chad being drilled by the Republic of Chad is transferred to a stationary FPSO –Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading vessel, which can store over 2 million barrels of oil and processed oil shipped through tankers to the international refineries at the Port of Le Havre in France.

It goes without saying that France benefits largely from the Boko Haram terror crises in Nigeria’s northeastern States that hamper Nigeria’s exploration o f the linked reserves from within its territory.

Named terror sponsor, Ali Modu Sheriff is thoroughly invested in Chad’s oil and gas industry. He is a benefactor of the tapping of reserves from Nigeria through Chad drilling. The recent urgent trip by him and Nigeria’s President after he was named a Boko Haram sponsor by President Jonathan’s terror negotiator, Australian Doctor Stephen Davis is believed to have been necessitated to restore investor confidence in Chad and assure the Chadian partners in tapping of oil from the common basins that all is well, Nigeria’s President will stand by Sheriff and protect their common investments in that industry and country. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the current President are both said to have been introduced to the lucrative investments in Chad by Senator Modu Sheriff.

Wikileaks documents at the onset of Boko Haram terror revealed a certain Abu Mahjin, from Chad who was noted to be a true founder of the terror sect. Terrorism in the oil rich Niger delta and in the oil rich Chad basin conveniently decreases Nigeria’s harvest of its oil while multinationals have side-stepped Nigeria and figured how to reach the precious material in common oil pools from neighboring States. Top players in Nigeria are invested in this lucrative opportunity through investment partnerships in the neighboring countries. Instability and terror profits these individuals.

Why living with a Nigerian wife abroad is no longer fashionable

On a recent visit to a foreign capital, our reporter discovers that Nigerian men are having a rough time with their Nigerian spouses.

Simon (not real name) left Nigeria in search of greener pastures in the 1990s. He was lucky as he got work which allowed him to study, and after he obtained a master’s degree and got a better job, he headed to Nigeria to marry the love of his life.
He came to his hometown and got married to Nwanyi, a timid girl in her 20s, who had just completed her diploma course in one of the nation’s polytechnics.
The arrival of Nwanyi in Sweden was a turning point in Simon’s life, as he was able to quickly arrange for her to start schooling, while he was working round the clock to give his new wife a special treat.
A few years later, Nwanyi had given birth to three children, acquired a degree and started a job that engaged her in the morning when the children were in school.
As a result of schooling and interaction with other friends, Nwanyi came to the realisation that she was being denied her fundamental rights as a woman, and so she could no longer take nonsense from her husband.
Among the freedoms, Nwanyi was demanding, include the right to do what she likes when she likes, the right to own and control her salary, the right to party, and even have men friends and visit them when she pleases.
For Simon, her demands were not only outrageous but against the norms and customs of marriage in Nigeria, and so a fight ensued and Simon was jailed. The once timid Nwanyi took over his house, control of his children and brought a man in to live with.
The predicament faced by Simon is gradually becoming a common occurrence in Europe and America, where a lot of Nigerians are seeking greener pastures.
Tales abound of many young Nigerians who today have become vagabonds abroad, as a result of what women they came to Nigeria to marry, have done to them.
Okey Martins, a Nigerian living in Stockholm, Sweden said that he would have made it in Sweden, if not for the wife he came home to marry.
“I was advised by my parents to come home and marry. I did just that, but I didn’t know that the woman I brought from Nigeria to train and expose, was going to be my own downfall,” Martins said.
Why are marriages falling apart?
In Europe, the laws give women special preference, meaning they cannot be harassed, beaten or trampled upon, as is common in Africa and Nigeria in particular.
In 1992, the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) adopted General Recommendation 19, which includes violence in the prohibition of gender-based discrimination: “violence that is directed at a woman because she is a woman or that affects women disproportionately [is discrimination]”. It includes acts that inflict physical, mental or sexual harm or suffering, threats of such acts, coercion and other deprivations of liberty”. Violence against women is an internationally recognized human rights violation ,when either a public official or a private person commits the violence.

State participating to the CEDAW must take all the necessary measures to eliminate violence, including legal sanctions, civil remedies, preventative measures, (such as public information and education campaigns) and protective measures (such as support services for victims).
The European Union also adopted a political will to protect and promote women’s rights as evident in the Guidelines agreed in 2008, addressing discrimination as well as violence against women.
The Guidelines on violence against women and girls and combating all forms of discrimination against them promote gender equality, put in place effective, coordinated strategies, and address the impunity of those who have perpetrated violence against women. The document also prioritises women’s rights within the EU human rights policy towards third countries, and sets out a strategy for dealing with individual cases of human rights violations.

Hiding under these laws and guidelines, humble women married from Nigeria go into Europe and America, and unleash hell on their husbands who still believe in marriage as practiced in Nigeria, where the man remains the head of the family, and has all the powers to bring his un-submitting wife to her knees.
Dr Joe Ikara, an Abuja based marriage counsellor, said that most Nigerian men in Europe come back to marry as a way of reconnecting to their roots, and to stay abreast with their customs and traditions. “Because most of them have been away for so long or they left the country in their early years, they don’t understand what marriage to African women is all about. They become so different from what they were before they left the shores of Nigeria. They forgot that Nigerian women are quite different from western women. This leads to lots of frictions between these two cultures.

According to Chukwudi Nwokoye, author of Marital tragedies among Nigerians in Diaspora, “another challenge that often leads to conflict is the fact that most of the men come back and marry ladies who are in their 20s, while most of the men are in their 40s and 60s. They end up getting married to ladies that are available; women they thought are the best for them. They know next to nothing about these would-be wives, seeing them through the eyes of their sometimes over-zealous relatives, whose agenda for recommending the lady may be different. Moreover, the women with better qualities then for marriage are mostly in their twenties, who are young enough to be their daughters. There is a generational gap between these spouses that creates lots of tensions. Women are now so liberated that a 20 year old in this 21st century, is not the same as a 20 year old in the 20th century. The present women in their 20s are mostly exposed to lots of western cultures, no thanks to the internet, pop cultures, movies, cable news etc. They now want more and demand more out of marriage. The issue of being able to satisfy her sexually is not the problem now, thanks to numerous modern drugs which are available. The main problem here is that there are lots of value differences. The differences now involve what the man in his generation likes, and what the young lady in her computer/internet generation likes. There is this incompatibility. The man may like classical music, while the girl likes rap, the man may like African delicacies which the girl likes to explore western delicacies and so on.”

Inspite of the agony the men pass through in their attempt to maintain a Nigerian wife abroad, Chukwuma Joel said it was better than marrying a white woman. “Marrying a white woman involves so many things that men from Nigeria and other African countries are not cut out for. You may lose your children should you be deported for any reason. You may end up paying her alimony for the rest of your life, and worst of all, you become a toy in the hand of your wife and the law, which is solidly behind her.”
As Nigerian men abroad are caught between the dicey choice of whether to come home to marry or marry where they are, parents, villagers, relations are having sleepless nights ,as the weddings that were celebrated as the talk of town are crashing daily around the world, leaving behind bitter tales.

The Automotive Policy like the preceding but short lived Fuel Subsidy Removal Policy is highly flawed! On paper they both make sense from an isolated economic stand point. But when you put them into practice with the unique realities of life in Nigeria then they are exposed to be badly thought out ideas.

Like the Fuel Subsidy Removal Policy the government is putting the cart before the horse and pulling the rug from underneath people's feet literally over night.With the Automotive Policy there has been no sensitisation period that includes investment in infrastructure and provision of things like power,stable steel industry,provision of venture capital for would be local entrepreneurs, or incentives programmes (like tax relief)for would be external investors.

The government has essentially enacted a law they claim will benefit the whole of Nigeria a nation of 170 Million however the real benefactors are just a handful of car manufacturers and they are expected to perform magic and meet the demands of a country bigger than every country in Europe. A law that ironically creates unemployment for thousands of Nigerians who already ply their trade in used car sales and ancillary services.

What point is medicine that kills the patient. You create business for less than 10 companies that employs hundreds and destroys 100s of small businesses that employs thousands in the name of economic policy.

The Policy would have made sense with a far longer phase in period. It would have necessitated a maturity business policy. If we had steady light,more steel plants,more open market for would be local manufactures the list goes on. It is also an anti-business policy as it removes the critical element of choice for the consumer by forcing them to buy from a handful of manufactures.

I know Ekiti may be a comparatively poor state and what the governor spent may be relatively high considering the economic status of the state. But to be honest, Fayemi is no longer in that place and its for Fayose to use. Beside, its not long that that those were completed and its a state property not Fayemi's. Ok will Fayose and other incoming governors not use the place and sleep on those beds? All I see are insincere minds as if he was not the same man that had a fake poultry that OBJ commissioned. You've made some good points. However the underlining issue is abuse of position, disproportionate use of "PUBLIC" funds and very poor sense of judgement. Regardless of who built it and who now occupies it, this is just another one of many examples of elected officials gross and improper use of office and it's attendant power. If we simply wave things like this away as "e don already happen joor" then what hope do we really have as a nation to combat the many ills that bedevil us in Nigeria?

The problem with the north isn't in your original post. The simple reason people dread you and your people is the well recorded history of intolerance and hostility to others who neither share nor subscribe to your ideologies and faith.

For many years even before Maitasine and Boko Haram northern youths have been known for periodic riots that always seem to involve the burning of churches with the destruction of lives and properties of non northerners.

KIRKUK (AFP) – Christians were fleeing Iraq’s jihadist-held city of Mosul en masse Friday after mosques relayed an ultimatum giving them a few hours to leave, the country’s Chaldean patriarch and witnesses said.
“Christian families are on their way to Dohuk and Arbil,” in the neighbouring autonomous region of Kurdistan, Patriarch Louis Sako told AFP. “For the first time in the history of Iraq, Mosul is now empty of Christians.”
Witnesses said messages telling Christians to leave the city by Saturday were blared through loudspeakers from the city’s mosques Friday.
A statement dated from last week and purportedly issued by the Islamic State jihadist group that took over the city and large swathes of Iraq during a sweeping offensive last month warned Mosul’s Christians they should convert, pay a special tax, leave or face death.
“We were shocked by the distribution of a statement by the Islamic State calling on Christians to convert to Islam, or to pay unspecified tribute, or to leave their city and their homes taking only their clothes and no luggage, and that their homes would then belong to the Islamic State,” Sako said.
The patriarch, who is one of the most senior Christian clerics in Iraq, and residents contacted by AFP said Islamic State militants had in recent days been tagging Christian houses with the letter N for “Nassarah”, the term by which the Koran refers to Christians.
The statement, which was seen by AFP, said “there will be nothing for them but the sword” if Christians reject those conditions.
