Could it be that she rejected it because she is still a college football player under the NCAA in the USA? The NCAA rules prohibit any athlete from collecting gifts or compensation for participating in any event or for endorsements. So maybe she was trying to avoid a ban from playing College Soccer in the USA. Just my thought though. The two stories in the links below can throw more light on this: http://www.npr.org/2012/03/28/148610494 ... e-athletes http://sports.yahoo.com/news/georgias-todd-gurley-suspended-4-133220180--ncaaf.html |
Okijajuju1: Interesting to know.. But sadly, all those put together dont even equate to 10% of the cars.PAN was sourcing their seat belts locally as at 1980s, so local manufacture of seat belts is quite old. |
hotwax: You are importing car engine and you said you are a car manufacturer?I am not here to run down or praise anyone. I live in Nigeria and so I appreciate any little effort anyone is making to create employement and generate legitimate revenue in this difficult country. Anyway, I made a mistake when I said Exide battery. I meant Union Batteries Nnewi. http://www.ibeto.com/main/IBETO-page.asp?P=20 The batteries are made by Ibeto group. |
Innosson makes the following in Nigeria: 1. Tires. Manufactured at Innosson Tire factory Emene Enugu 2. Seat Belts 3. Batteries. Made by Union 4. Brake pads and Lining. 5. Seats 6. Windshield wipers 7. Windshields 8. Lights 9. All Plastic parts. Made by Innosson plastic industry Emene Enugu All precision parts (engines, gear boxes, compressors etc.) are imported. The metal body is sourced from China due to lack of local flat sheet production industry in Nigeria. Ajeokuta no dey work. So the car designs are generic, in order to faciliotate sourcing of the body metal sheet from China. |

arsetalks: This is not the time to play politics. The health minister keeps changing his figures every now and then. Doesn't fill me with confidence. All oda yoruba leaders re petty thieves just like oda tribes, to crown it all dey won't even lobby their kinsmen to power just like oda tribe... Take a look at cbn, aviation, education space technology. We ave millions of qualified yoruba hordes but dey won't just stupidly stand by dem selves. I even dey regret sef say I even b yorubaPlease there is nothing like 'an hero' haba! The correct pronunciation is 'a hero'. When will you guys get it? The 'h' is not silent. That you cannot pronounce 'h' due to your defective diction does not mean that it is silent. |
smudge2079: Aminu ogwuche? Dis guy must be an hybrid. Igbo/hausa namesThere is nothing like 'an hybrid'. The correct pronunciation is 'a hybrid'. The 'h' is actually pronounced and is not silent. That you cannot pronounce 'h' does not mean you should also write the way you speak. There is nothing like 'an house', 'an honda car', 'an hole'! Do you guys write like this in secondary school? Na wao! |
omar22: So when they asked Barack Obama to produce his Birth Cert was that a breach of his civil right?Barrack on his own volition released the Birth Certificate in order to clear the air. He was not under any compulsion to do so. Stella can also decide to release the MBA certificate. What we need to clear here is that she cannot be COMPLELLED to do so under the FOI act. |
agbameta: Don't you mean based on your own ignorance and flawed understanding of the subject matter?Must you deginerate to this level just to make your point? Must you insult people? Is that the only way you can put your message accross? I do not know you, neither do you know me. You do not even know my background, but concluded that 'I am ignorant and have a flawed understanding of the subject matter'. NL na wao! However, I will not go that route with you. I will not trade words with you either. Anyway, my points were very clear and I stated clearly that 'if the statement that she had an MBA was made under oath' then she is guilty of perjury. Now that you have found her guilty, please do proceed to court and seek an order to remove her from office. Thank you Sir. SMH |
maasoap: You are talking trash, man.Ok Sir. |
You are not only trying to have it both ways, you shot for a million ways and finally sat on the fence helplessly.... You shouldn't have bothered....[/quote]This is exactly why I said that NL members always write without being privy of the facts. I stated clearly that my comments were based on the assumption that she lied about her MBA. Neither of us (you or I) can conclusively say that she lied because we are not in any way privy to the facts. All we are acting on is a report from Sahara reporters, which we can 'assume' to be correct. That still does not remove the fact that we are 'assuming'. I would not want to be seen as taking a categorical position on issues that are based on hear say. To do that would mean that I am not qualified to be called a competent legal prfessional. |
The problem I have with NL is that there are a lot of people here who want to claim to know more than they do. I will not say there are too many kids here, but a lot of NL members seem to act mostly on impulse and sentiments, rather than facts. Firstly, the MBA certificate of Ms. Oduah was NOT the basis for her appointment as a Minister. We need to establish what the minimum requirements are for being a minister. Just like the position of the President, the minimum requirement is an O ‘level certificate or its equivalent. This leaves us with the issue of what crime, if any, was committed. I am not privy to the form of documents presented to the National Assembly and hence I cannot say whether they were submitted under oath. If they were, then she will be guilty of perjury, if not, then she is not guilty of a criminal offence but will lose the moral right to remain in government. Note that I said 'moral right' not 'legal right'. The morality of her actions does not however mean that her employer (the presidency) is bound to remove her. This is because morals do not determine legal decisions (remember Clinton and Lewinsky?). So if the president feels that he cannot work with someone of such weak morals, then he should go ahead and remove her, but he also has to balance the opportunity cost of losing whatever positives she brings to the aviation ministry. On the issue of releasing her MBA for public viewing, the FOI does not apply to private documents. Ms. Odua's MBA certificate is not a public document. It is not the basis for her appointment. She therefore cannot be forced to release the document if she does not wish to. NB: All the above is based on the assumption that she actually lied about her MBA. I am not stating this as a given, I am only working on that assumption. |
I really wish we can convince Ross Barkely to play for SE. Unfortunately England wan cap am as quick as possible and I know he will be more comfortable playing for England for obvious reasons. The guy would have been a great addition to our midfield. |
I will recommend First Bank. With 1st bank you can transfer money from Nigeria to abroad via your Dom account instantly without having any interface with the bank staff. The online portal enables you to send the money and it will hit the recieving account abroad in less than 24 hours, depending on the time zone. I have a problem with GT Bank online transfer system because it is not instant and requires manual intervention. Even for local transfers, GT bank takes 24 hours while other banks have instant real time online transfer system. |
gbadexy: "Do the needful". Ambiguous statement!Coscharis has no case to answer. |
baby-boy:Are you actuallying following this whole saga? Did you take time to read what the NCAA boss said about the dignitaries? Did you see where he mentioned the agencies that the dignitares represent? Did you not see that the list was all Airpace/airport inspection and accreditiation agencies. How does that then concern foreign afffairs ministry? Na wa. The urge to find Oduah guilty has really made people to lose the ability for objective arguement. |
What I have noticed is that Nigerians in a bid to find people guilty are not reading and appreciating the defence put up by those same people. This is why we have high expectations that certain people will be jailed and when they get to court, they are easily set free. Firstly we went to arms against Oduah. We called her a thief and all sorts. Now it is clear that she didn’t steal anything. At worst the only wrong she did was in buying expensive bullet proof cars in a supposedly poor country. Now we have gone over to Coscharis and have started screaming again. No one wants to cool down and actually appreciate what Coscharis said. All we hear is how he avoided import duty by claiming the cars are for Lagos state Government. The man has said that the duty waiver was in line with normal practice of 'sponsor vehicles'. Have we taken time to find out what this 'normal practice' is? Have we investigated what is obtainable for such 'sponsor vehicles'? We have not. We are only interested in shouting 'thief, thief' until the case dies off when the man is proven to have done the correct thing. First, when was the National sports festival in Lagos? My understanding is that it was in November 2012. From the statement of the Customs, the Vehicles were cleared in June 2013. So if the vehicles were meant for the Sport Festival in November 2012, why then were they cleared in June 2013? The simple explanation is that Coscharis provided vehicles for the Games from its pool, while it got a waiver to cover those vehicles. Now the waiver will only apply on subsequent imports even though the Games have ended. So let me put it this way: Lagos wants 300 vehicles for games in Nov 2012, Coscharis provides some of these from the vehicles it already has in country, while it imports the balance. Coscharis is granted a waiver for the 300 vehicles. Considering that some of the vehicles were supplied from Coscharis existing stock, the waivers for these are not utilised immediately, Coscharis subsequently uses this waiver to import other cars after the games. The waiver still reads Lagos State Government, although the latest imports were made after the games. So in summary, 300 cars were requested and waiver given for 300 cars. So if 50 of those cars were already available in Coscharis, it means he still retains the waiver for the 50 cars and can use it subsequently. I hope we can now understand what he meant by 'sponsor vehicle' practice. Please let’s reduce the abuse on each other in NL and try and appreciate what people are saying. We always shout like this only to be disappointed. |
The article below was written on 24/02/2013, well before the plane crash and bullet proof car wahala, but it is salient and straight to the point more like a call to arms. Mustapha Chike Obi may be next on the list. For those that claim there is no ethnic war going on, the fact speaks for itself. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/02/mini ... -yoruba-1/ Minister of Aviation declares war on Yoruba – 1 on February 24, 2013 / in Frankly Speaking 9:10 am / Comments By Dele Sobowale “On top of these, says YUF [Yoruba Unity Forum] some Ministers such as that of Aviation have specialized in sacking the Yoruba from agencies under their control and replacing them with favourites from their preferred ethnic groups”. Idowu Akinlotan, in PALLADIUM, Sunday, February 17, 2013. In almost twenty years of writing this column, I have never written any article in support of anyone because he is “my brother”; neither have I written one against anyone because he is not “my brother”. OBJ received the same treatment as Babangida, Abacha, Yar’Adua and, now, Jonathan. Segun Aganga and, now, Adewunmi are undergoing the same interrogation as Alison Madueke and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The current Minister of Aviation is the first Minister to ever attract my attention in this regard because of mounting evidence of her deliberate tribal hostility. She has started the war; she will not determine when it will end and how. Until recently, I had taken very little interest in the matter of Yoruba marginalization as alleged by the Yoruba Unity Forum, the original Afenifere group, and, now, Afenifere Renewal Group, ARG. To my mind, the marginalisation of Yoruba by Jonathan’s administration and specifically some Ministers was caused to a large extent by the Yoruba leaders themselves – and that includes all the leaders without exception. Unlike, Doyin Okupe’s and Chief Richard Akinjide’s views, my grouse is simple. Yoruba people can now be easily marginalized and persecuted because divisive politics had made it impossible for us to unite to fight our common causes irrespective of political affiliation. An organization, AGBAJO YORUBA AGBAYE, AYA, formed for that purpose, was allowed to die by some of those now shedding crocodile tears. For a start, how can anyone explain the idiocy, no apologies for that, of Yoruba trooping to the polls in 2011 to vote Action Congress of Nigeria in every election only to turn around and vote PDP for the presidential? Everyone, who must have “voted for Jonathan not PDP” can now accept responsibility for this situation in which we find ourselves. The leaders of the ACN who brokered the deal for the switch to PDP have allowed Okupe, who will say anything, to make his nonsensical claim. Had the South West stood firmly behind Ribadu, the outcome might have been different. So, let’s be done with the crocodile tears of those who dug our graves. However, there is a Yoruba proverb which applies here. It says, “Ki a le @#$%^&* lo na, ki a to f’abo si odo adie”; meaning, “chase away the fox first, then attend to the wayward chicken”. Of all the Ministries in the Federal Government, one, above all others, is headed by a Minister who has virtually declared war on Yoruba people in every area of her Ministry. That is the Minister for Aviation. The reason for singling her out of the several MDAs in the Federal Government is again simple. It is strategic to focus our energies on the worst offender, fight her to a standstill as an example to others that Yoruba people will not be pushed around by any transient holder of power. And she will not be the last holder of the Ministry. She will go, sooner or later. But, the war will continue. As an aside, let me point out to the Minister that the Yoruba can defend themselves in this war. She might be the Minister of Aviation or anything; she might even be waging an ethnic war – for reasons known to herself. But, one thing she must know is this. The Southwest is host to every other ethnic group in Nigeria – far more than any other zone. Even the airports and other Aviation Ministry agencies are surrounded by Yoruba territory. We hold the nation’s assets. The first question anyone will ask is: why pick on her? The answer is simple, there is increasing evidence that she is being deliberately antagonistic to us – that includes me. The Yoruba Unity Forum in a recent publication, set out the number of Yoruba people who had been sacked from the Ministry and its agencies – almost invariably to be replaced by other ethnic groups. One or two might be justified by claiming incompetence, old age, diminishing productivity, corruption, etc. But, when only people from one ethnic group suffer such dismissals, it becomes highly suspicious. That, however, is small potatoes compared to the main issue; the one that has left no doubt in my mind that, ethnic cleansing and persecution of Yoruba is a deliberate policy, is in connection with the problems of Dr Wale Babalakin, SAN, who I never met. This issue, in my view, should demonstrate the resolve of all Yoruba people to fight a battle declared against one of us by someone else for fairly clear motives. And, it is a struggle that must be non-partisan. This is no PDP versus ACN affair. It is Yoruba versus the Minister of Aviation. Incidentally, the Minister of Aviation, I now believe has an ally in the Asset Management Corporation, AMCON, Mr Mustapha Chike Obi. Together, they want to reduce Babalakin to zero. Let me present the case as documented. My Monday, February 18, 2013, column, in this paper, was titled WHO WANTS WALE BABALAKIN DEAD?, because at the time, I had no clue regarding who could be behind the plot to persecute Babalakin. Now, all the facts at my disposal point to the Minister of Aviation, who has gathered other co-conspirators, from her ethnic enclave, to help her execute the project. They will fail. Other Yoruba people will join Babalakin to ensure they don’t succeed. In fact, the battle will be taken to the door step of the Ministry of Aviation itself – if Madam does not stop fomenting trouble for herself. Bi-Courteny Aviation Services Limited, whose Chairman is Dr Wale Babalakin SAN, as most air travelers know, was persuaded by the Obasanjo administration to build Murtala Muhammed Airport Two, MM 2; which it did. As part of the agreement, all domestic flights were to originate and land at MM2, once completed and operational. The old domestic, called General Aviation Terminal, GAT, was to be closed down; and become an integral part of MM2. As usual, with our lawless governments, the Federal Government refused to close down GAT and encouraged some airlines, especially one owned by people from one of the two eastern zones, to operate from there. As far as I am concerned, the airlines operating from GAT are not at fault. Government carries the blame. In order to enforce the agreement, Bi-Courtney dragged the Federal Government to court for enforcement of the contract and for damages. Bi-Courtney won the case and huge damages were awarded in its favour… |
St.Ola:Please can you tell us the crime she committed? Stealing, money laundering, 4.19? Please tell us the particular section fo the criminal code she has breached. In fact, if you are to charge her to court, what will you charge her with? |
I think we are beginning to play to the gallery a lot. We need to define what amounts to corruption. My understanding of corruption is when one has a pecuniary interest from the proceeds of his or her office. Corruption cannot apply to a case where the accused does not gain any financial benefit from the alleged transaction. What people have failed to analyse since all this hullaballoo started is 1. What should be the actual price of the said vehicles? Was the price inflated? 2. In whose name were the vehicles registered? Now if the above are established to be positive i.e. if the cars were bought at the correct prices and registered in the ministry's name, then the issue of corruption does not arise. What we should be talking about then should be the following: 1. Are ministers allowed to drive armoured vehicles? Is there a precedent in Nigeria of ministers using such vehicles? 2. Are there cheaper brands and what are the advantages of using this particular level of armoured vehicle? 3. Are 2 vehicles excessive? Should one not have been enough? If it is established that ministers do use armoured vehicles, then we move on to questions 2 and 3. I do know for a fact that at least 10 ministers have armoured vehicles. In a bid to challenge the government, we have lost focus of the real issues and now we are talking of corruption. We need to prove 1, 2 and 3 above before any case can be established against the minister. As I stated before, I do know that ministers use armoured vehicles and so the issue is not whether she should buy such vehicles. We should focus on the real issues here which are 2 and 3. Any other thing is mere witch hunting and will not see the light of day. |

Movingcoil: abeg watz ur point? Clearify it so dat I can know wat 2 tell UMy point is that we have a right to make our own laws based on our own moral basis. I gave those examples because people were asking why we are interested in what other people do in their bedrooms. The impression created is that the so called advanced countries dont care about what people do inside their homes and hence they don't regulate sexual conduct. The examples I gave clearly shows that the advanced countries do regulate sexual conduct and also regulate what an individual does inside his house. They have their own values and we have ours. |
