What do you mean by all he has. He gave his wife the houses they built and lived together in Enugu and Abuja. Does that translate to all he had? The irony is that the Enugu house is even called Casabianca. Emeka got a major commercial building in Onitcha. Go and check how much he makes from that house per annum. He also got the family house in Nnewi. You seem not to realise that Bianca's kids are still young and still have to go to school. Emeka was given the best foreign education by his Dad, so why can't his siblings have the same quality of education?

She died after giving birth to her 3rd child. She had sickle cell anemia and couldn't survive the blood loss after the 3rd child. I would have thought that being a sickler she should have stopped after having 2 babies. The gamble of having more children proved fatal. May her soul rest in peace. Condolences to her husband and family.
TV/Movies / Re: CPC Wants Pay-as-you-go Subscription For DSTV Consumers by lacidi: 3:09pm On Nov 20, 2012
Why are we always saying rip off every time. Can someone tell me any country in Africa where DSTV subscription is lower than that of Nigeria? Let’s get our facts right before we write please. There is no African country that is paying less subscription than Nigeria. Go ask your friends in Ghana, Liberia and SA how much they pay.

We have got used to complaining in this country. HITV came and what did they do? They increased their subscription to N6,500/mth for some stupid football channels. We need to stop making impossible suggestions and thinking they will work. There is nowhere in the world that Cable subscription is on Pay-as-you-go basis, so let’s be practical for once.

Next thing now, people will start abusing me. The truth is bitter and you can take it to the bank that nothing is going to happen because the CPC request is not practical.

Music/Radio / Re: VIDEO: P Square – Alingo (+mp3 Download) by lacidi: 10:29pm On Nov 18, 2012
I always laugh when I see all these negative comments on Psquare songs. I remember the first time that Chop my Money was posted on NL and all the negative comments that followed. In fact I remember some people said that P square was finished and the song was crap. 1 year later the song has over 10 million hits on YouTube and is the most viewed Nigerian video ever on YouTube.

Now we are having the same comments about Alingo. 20 hours after the video was released, it has already passed 40,000 views on YouTube and will definitely hit 1 million within 2 weeks.

Psquare have studied the Naija and African market and they know that it is not the words in the song that sells the music. It is the sound. Africans want to dance, period! We come here and criticize and complain and call them names, but at the end of the day all the clubs in Naija will have this song on constant replay and people will be struggling to see who learns the dance first. Danfo drivers, taxi drivers, FM stations, kiddies birthday parties, wedding reception, etc will have the song on replay. That's the secret and that's why the song will outsell the ones with the so called good lyrics and by this time next year, they would have outsold their competitors as always.

That's the Psquare secret. So the critics will have their say, but Psqare will have their sale.

Crime / Re: 14 Suspected Kidnappers Killed In Rivers by lacidi: 11:08am On Nov 04, 2012
nex: Please, both in the North and the South, JTF should never be commended for killing suspects. Anybody who has not been sentenced by a court of the land is still a suspect. Why must they kill all the time in their so-called gun battles? Na only for Nigeria gun battle dey happen?

A lot of innocent people are being killed. Even the Rivers State Police spokesman said "six of the hoodlums were fatally wounded … seven of the wounded died on the way to hospital". How can 7 people die out of six wounded?! This is to tell you that Nigerians are being so recklessly killed, that nobody even takes time to account for lives properly.

This savage behaviour is no different from the Aluu 4 killings, only, this time, by the government itself.

The literacy level in this country is appalling. The report said that 6 were fatally wounded. That, in simple English, means that 6 died at the spot. Fatal wound means death. Fatality means death. So when he said that 6 were fatally wounded, he meant that they died during the shootout. The other 7 did not die on the spot, but died on the way to the hospital. So let me summarize, the shootout resulted in 6 fatalities at the spot while 7 of the hoodlums that were seriously wounded later died on the way to the hospital. Kapish?

chaircover:

Fatally wounded means that the person is likely to die of his injuries.

Time for the Govt to cough up money for proper rail crossings and to educate people on the danger of trains. Silly I know, but some people actually need to be educated on this.

Education in this country has really gone from bad to terrible. Fatal injury means that the injury resulted in a fatality. This means that the person died as a result of the injury. Fatality means death. Once an injury is said to be fatal, it means the person is dead and NOT that the person could/may die.

I am not surprised by the fact that some posters still think that 'fatal' means serious. I have heard many people here in Nigeria describe serious/bad accidents as fatal accidents. A fatal accident simply means an accident with at least one fatality i.e. at least one person must have died from the accident before it can be described as fatal.

'I go buy moto' means he doesnt have the moto yet, if he did, he will not be saying 'I go buy...', he would have said 'I go use my moto to carry you'. The lyrics simply means he is planning/hoping to buy one. So that's y he is on a bicycle. What's contradictory about that?

And who told you that. You guys just come here and make statements without any basis. Can you show me the locus classicus from a Nigerian court that established the non admissibility of audio and video recording. Which case was this established or which Act or rules of proceedings stated as such?

You do not have to produce money taken as bribe in order to prove bribery. Actions carried out after collecting such bribes and statements made prior and subsequently are admissible in establishing culpability.

In fact, why do you think they have closed circuit tvs in banks and important sensitive locations? Are they for fancy?

Billyonaire: where in your excerpt of the constitution did it state that the President can Prosecute ? Please can you also post the duties of the Judiciary because your assertions are misleading. Thank you.

Jesus! Prosecution is the act of charging a person to court for a criminal offence! It is NOT the act of adjudicating on the case. Please check the definition of prosecution, that is where you are getting it wrong. NB: Am a lawyer called to Nigerian Bar since 1993.

For emphasis, please check thses links for definition:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_prosecution_mean

What does prosecution mean?

Prosecution is the legal process of bringing an alleged criminal offender to trial.

The district attorney and his office file charges against the defendant(s) and present evidence at a trial. The accused normally has legal representation for his defense.

Billyonaire: Dont be funny my friend. Why dont you go to google and find the duties of the judiciary. The Executives dont run the court rooms. The judiciary does, the President can not go and put Facrook in jail. He has to be summoned to court and the verdict will be given by the jury. Principle of Separation of Powers is a democratic concept. Dont let us argue on this. You are wrong.
Let me break it down - The executive (Police, AG) initiates the prosecution by charging the person to court. The judiciary now deliberates on the case and passes the verdict. If the Police of AG does not prosecute (i.e. charge the person to court) then the judiciary cannot act on the case.

It's clear Otedola was trying to set up farouk. I am now convinced that this was actually a sting operation. If you listen, you will notice that Otedola repeated the exact amount being discussed knowing fully well that he was recording the conversation. Also Otedola's retort that the money was in the airport authenticates his earlier claim that Farouk asked him to fly in the money by private jet.

Politics / Re: Reps Suspend Lawan, Order Anti-graft Agencies To Investigate Otedola’s Firm by lacidi: 9:49pm On Jun 15, 2012
What people have failed to understand is that the legislature has no power to order EFCC to investigate anybody. They can only 'advice'. EFCC, the police etc are all under the control of the executive. The so called report from the house can only have any coercive value if the executive afford it such value. The legislature is there only to make laws and to give advice. They cannot arrest, order the arrest or enforce the arrest of any citizen. You all remember when late Gani called their bluff and refused to appear before then when summoned. That's because they do not have such powers that they arrogated to themselves. They have decided to become both the judiciary and the executive at same time. Unfortunately, there are people who won't be cowed by their antics. Nothing and I repeat, absolutely nothing will happen to Otedola. The irony of this case is that if the report is tabled in court, it will be thrown out on the simple ground that it has been tainted by proven case of bribery and intimidation. So the report is merely an advice and not a directive, so no one should fret over it.

Well, if there were 2 lists, then I apologise if I erronously thought there was only 1. However, after seing Lawan on TV arguing that Zenon be removed from the list, i actually assumed that they were so removed. I have however decided to remove emotions from these arguments and simply stick to facts. Right now the facts are not in support of the committe and so I will not allow myself any high hopes that these oil marketers will be brought to book.

You are certainly NOT in any position to help me. How can you when you are so st-u-pid to comprehend simply logic. Do you know anything about law and jurispundence in Nigeria.
Just listen to your attack on Sagay. What he said is very right within the Nigerian legal code. And FYI entrapment is not accepted all over the world as you ignorantly posted. In The Netherlands, it's not allowed. The defendant would be set free immediately the police admit a trap was set for him. YOU CANNOT OFFER COCAINE TO A JUNKIE AND THEN ARREST HIM FOR USING DRUGS.
Sagay is right. In the USA, you can do that, but in most countries in Central Europe is forbidden. You obviuosly live in some shithole in the US,

Once again you are wrong. Entrapment is NOT a crime in Nigeria. Sagay did not say in his statement that it was a crime, he only said it was MORALLY WRONG. Being morally wrong does not equate to being a crime. This is what Sagay said “It is a plan to trap someone into a criminal situation. If a person is suspected to be a drug dealer, a policeman can pose as a drug addict. And when the drug dealer comes to sell the drug, he will be arrested. The problem with entrapment is that the crime does not occur naturally. If one is successfully entrapped, it is an immoral way of establishing someone’s criminal tendencies,”

Chinom: Does anybody expect Farouk to hand over $620,000 to the police in Nigeria ?. Keeping the money in the house was the best choice. Only those Diaspora Nigerians who no nothing about the country would come out here to blame Farouk.
Yes,he is willing to go down for accepting bribe. But Otedola would still refund the near $250million he stole from us.

Chinom, please stop embarrasing yourself. The final report from Lawan's committee DID NOT INDICT OTEDOLA. The list of 68 companies indicted is reproduced below. There is no Zenon on that list.

I know we all wanted the subsidy report to be implemented, but there is no way you can honestly expect a report that has now been shown to be tainted with fraud to still stand. It is painful, but then thats how the cookie crumbles. We put our faith in Lawan and he failed. just accept that Lawan goofed and move on. No need making noise over what you know is a dead end.

You see, no matter how much noise you make here, there is no way that report will stand. Thats the bitter reality.

It costs nothing to learn. You can not prejudice a matter that is not already in court. Simple. Has FL been charged to court? What are you in essence prejudicing. I repeat at this stage you can only Interfere with investigations.

Sir, you can actually prejudice a matter that is not yet in Court. If a particular case is going to court and the primary evidence in that case is thrown open to public opinion, it can be argued in court that the Judge has become prejudiced by the comments and opinions expressed by the public on the evidence. In fact, if there is a poll in the newspaper which shows that majority of lawyers believe that the evidence presented is real/fake, then one can argue that the Judge had already formed an opinion or could be said to have been swayed by such opinion of a majority of his colleagues even before the evidence is put before him in court.

It would even be worse if the Judges friend, brother, colleague, extended family member, old boys association or whatever had stated an opinion on the evidence prior to the case going to court.

The story was skewed clearly to make Don Jazzy look bad. Lets wait for round 2.
