Hello, thanks for your reply. My parents are in their sixties.

It's nothing to worry about. They should ensure they don't overstayed. It's not a problem

Thanks LadyGuinivere.
Know Your Client evaluation will be done prior disbursement and its the policy of my company to notify the defaulter by text/mail of the default before embarking on loan recovery(Calling, visiting or Legal). Thanks all for your kind responses.

I wanted to comment when I saw you post but I just waka pass becos discussion go kanku if I start, but am now forced to

Why even open an account in the first place without conducting KYC talkless of giving out facility?

I believe the Vo expected you to mention how not to allow a credit even go bad at all in the first place. Your response on recovery strategy was not a strategy but I see it as a normal activity a bank should do ordinarily

I handled credit for 5 years (corporate and retail) before I did product mgt and I still do credit. As for recovery strategizes, it is expected that you put in place mitigants to prevent default. The core obj/ function of banking operations is to collect funds from those who have and give to those who do not have hence generating revenue for the bank. So with that at the back of your mind knowing that the bank generated revenue wch in turn will be used to pay your salary, you sud ensure from the onset that you give quality credit that should not go bad.
First endure the facility has the capability to make repayments as at wen due
Carry out periodic and regular follow-up/ relationship mgt
If need be, disbursement should be done in tranches and monitor the progress of the facility and the purpose which the facility is meant for to prevent diverting the purpose of the facility

... e plenty but typings no be my thing, tires me out besides I prefer to talk so that I can do other things.

I feel you didn't portrayed yourselves as what you claimed to be to the VO considering your length of years on the job.

I feel you now see reasons why some people here have been clamouring that your edu background vis a via your job function sometimes place a role in obtaining visa. I bet you some of these VOs are highly intelligent and are abreast with what is obtainable in various sectors.

Hope I've been able to make some sense.

I all the best in your next trial, I think you should reapply

Hello house, I am asking this question in regards to my parents.

My have a 2year visa to the U.S which they have been traveling and coming back to Nigeria concurrently.

They have 6months left to their visa, and my question is, can they go ahead and buy their flight ticket to the U.S, or should they renew their visa before they plan to visit again?

They're actually planning on staying in the U.S for 3months before coming back to Nigeria, but they're scared that they may be refused entry when they get to the U.S.

Also, if supposing they want to renew their visa now before traveling, do they need a fresh invitation letter from their siblings who are PR residence there, or they can just go ahead and fill in the information they filled in last time with the invitation they had?

Thank you.

Thank you.

They don't have any problems as long as they have not overstayed during any of their previous visits.

They also do not need to renew yet as they can still travelled with the validity left of their visa. A friend' landed POE the day her visa expires and she was still stamped 6 months even though she doesn't even have time to stay even up to 2wks.(Note I don't recommend this)

And I don't think they will have problem if they want to apply afterwards.

How old are they?

Good day house, I decided to reapply again for a Canadian TRV on 21 January, to meet with and negotiate with my prospective business partners, I was denied last year with purpose of visit and personal assets, travel history as the reasons, so this time I include 2 land documents, my car document, and a meeting confirmation letter from one of my prospective partners, I also printed out our email exchange and attached to the application, but some days back I noticed a mistake on my form, the area where you are asked if you've been denied visa, or entery or permit was ticked NO wrongly, although I stated in my application letter that I had applied before quoting the date and application number, I also attached the refusal letter. My question to the gurrus in the house is, are my chances improved? And will I be baned for misrepresentation even as I stated my history in the letters and included the refusal letter ?

Quickly send them a mail notifying them of this error.

All the best

Good evening friends, please I need your help. I applied for a tourist visa through my agent and I submitted and did biometric on 30th Nov 2017. I was told it will be ready within 25-60 working days so I went home to relax but it's over 40 working days now, so I made some enquiries and was able to track it via vsf website and it displayed YOUR VISA AS BEEN PROCESSED. The date was 5th of December 2017 . 6 days after I submitted. So I went to collect it today and they dropped a letter in my application saying "You didn't pay for Visa and biometric and resubmit your documents " which I paid online $185 through my agent and I have the print out and it was together with the other documents I submitted. Called my agent n he said he never heard of so before that he paid bla bla bla... So I don't even know what else to do... Please help.

This your case is not straight forward. Did you apply online or paper route?
Did you physically visit VFS for you biometric and you captured your biometric physically and you have documentary evidence for this or your agent submitted and did biometrics on your behalf?
Do you visited VFS yourself for the collection?

The answer to the above questions with shade more light .

You can be issued passport today and use it to apply for Visa tomorrow.

The int passport is the document that you can use to travel to other countries. You Just have to ensure that the passport expiration date is not less than six month by the time you intends to travel oversea

Morning Y'all, could this story be real? Read and respond accordingly.

Cheque Is Money

This is a true life story. Not only is it a real account of event that took place between my blood sister and US immigration/custom officers, it is a recent one too; it took place last two weeks. Between Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th, January 2018, from Lagos to Atlanta, USA, and back to Lagos. The entire journey lasted not more than forty-eight hours.

My sister has been visiting America since 1996, mostly twice a year. She had two of her three children in the US. All of them are now residents in US. The purpose of the visits has largely been business, including this last one. She runs Daslat Ventures, a boutique / Home stuff outfit, with outlets at Ogba Shopping Arcade and Ajah. Most of her dealings in US are with Costco, a popular and reputable company. This paragraph is meant to give a mental understanding to who she is. Nothing more.

On the fateful Tuesday, I got a whatsapp message from my sister notifying me she was about to board a Delta airline (her usual airline, a US airline) going to Atlanta, Georgia. Several hours later, I got another whatsapp message informing me they had landed in the airport in US. The message ended with 'Alhiamudulilhai'.
Myself, I was busy packing my luggage for the next day flight to Nigeria. Next time I checked my phone, there was another message from her: 'heading back home now'. I was a bit puzzled. I tried to explain it away by telling myself she was heading to her home in Atlanta. But wait a sec! Between the 'Alhiamudulilhai' message and this one, it had been few hours. I decided to call her. She clarified to me she was heading home to Lagos. 'What happen?' She told me she would explain when we see in Lagos. But I persisted. She then explained.....

The flight from Lagos to US was smooth. Delta is the best. Ojukai and his wife were also on board. When we landed at the airport in US, I was able to connect to the airport Wi-Fi. That was when I sent you the message of my arrival. I proceeded to the entry desk where my passport and visa were checked and verified ok. 'You are welcome to the US ma'am.' I walked past the counter, was heading to the arrival section when I heard 'hey You!'. I stopped and turned around to face a stern looking middle aged white man. He pointed at the book I was holding, 'You must set Forth at Dawn'. 'WHAT IS IN THAT FEDEX ENVELOPE?' This was the beginning!

In the Fedex envelope I had inside the Soyinka's book I was holding was a cheque given to me by Mrs Giwa to help deliver to a friend of hers, Mrs Ijeze whom I know very well. I didn't declare it at the point of entry. One, I didn't know cheque is money. Two, it wasn't in my name. When they asked me to follow them to their office within the airport I knew I was in a sort of trouble. Though I had the confidence I could explain myself, my bladder still gave way! Lol . They took my bags away from me, my book and my phones. I told them I had to change cloth because I had wet myself... they allowed me.

Interrogation started. They asked so many questions. They would hold meetings among themselves in whisper and returned to me for another round of questions. They called in a FBI agent. Then another hours of questions. They were trying to establish a case against me but my response kept me in the clear. They asked about my business, I told them. They cross examined that by putting a call through to Costco. My story was corroborated. I gave them Mrs Giwa's number. They called her. She confirmed she gave me the cheque. Still, the interrogation continued. I was getting tired. I m diabetic, you know.

One of the agents put before me my phone asking me to explain and identify the people in the video clips in my phone's whatsapp app!
I was confused. The clips showed ritual beheadings, boko haram barbaric acts, badoo atrocities and some Emmanuella's comedy skits.
I don't know any of them. I could understand the conclusion they were setting up. These are stuff people broadcast on whatsapp in Nigeria. People forward it to their contacts for information purpose only. I have no idea who these people in the clips are.

At this point, it is important to mention my sister wears hijab (not Niqab nor Burka).

They called most US contacts on my phone. I believed they got good responses about me. During the long hours interrogation, Delta had been contacted to put me on next available flight to Lagos. Delta was excellent. They put me on first class. That was when the interrogating agents started showing me a bit of respect. They told me they were not banning me from entering US in near future but they were not comfortable with the video clips found on my phone. As such they would deny me entry this time. I could go home and reapply for US visa in Lagos. I asked them if my children would be in any trouble because of this unfortunate misunderstanding, they said No.
At that point I just wanted to be on my way to Lagos. They didn't confisticate the cheque either.
Now back in Lagos, glory be to God, the Lord of all the worlds.

The reason I decided to narrate this story to our platform IGSOSA is to inform us concerning what we share, receive from forwarded messages and store (intentionally or otherwise) on our phones. You can never tell when they would turn incriminating. Even if you have got explanations that are genuine, events arising from the delay might waste your precious time and resources.
Whatsapp, by default setting, save a copy of your images and videos in your phone's gallery.

My younger sister attended an interview at the US Embassy in Lagos and did biometrics, maybe 2004 or 2005 if my memory is not failing me.... Well, it's up to him sha, these are consequences for wrongdoing. Unless he has a sound reason for the said changes, I however believe strongly that those details can be thrashed in the bin of forgotten past and nothing will happen!

You haven't given us details of your younger sister.

let me discuss how.
Parents details grin Sister some can't escape that.
When the system runs a search on applicant siblings using parent details. 2 same people will come up. I Sabi that thing using Php search query.

When applicant bio is O and parent is X and all past applicants are Y. Fish out Y's under Y with same X and O. 2 same people will show instantly.

Some V.O might get upset and ban u that u represent someone else for a visa so so year. What do u stand to gain? Some risk don't worth it.

Gbam!

Why taking risk? the system is getting more advanced similarities In name and "Facematch" can bring out his former application, risk that can cause him ban? They love being honest. Just saying

Spot on.

I know someone that had similar experience in short same scenario his was even old passport and didn't do Biometrc too then. Later on epassport with different details applied however reference was made to the old app despite the fact that the old app was not disclosed. This was 9 years ago not to talk of now.

However let him try his luck Sha. But let his family get theirs separately so he no use hisown kobalise their own.

He should worry more about the "Online Masters graduation ceremony" that he wants to "attend with his family" and the information he has put out here now than about his past record in itself....

My good people here, I stumble on this three. A closed friend need urgent advise. He did is masters online and graduated last year August, the school has invited him and his family for graduation ceremony this May. He has paid the visa fees and filled the online form. Waiting for his interview feb 20. But something came up. Sometimes in 2003 his late uncle brought a lady from u.s and they did court registry. Along the line the visa wasn’t issued and no biometric then. He has actually forget that incident existed and couldn’t even remember what really transpired then. He has travelled to 7 schegen countries, and others. All he could recall was, the passport name then was okaka Alexander. But he has since been using another biometric passport which is okaka Alex Omo and the date of birth change too. He has already filled his form that he has never apply before and he has no body in u.s. nothing he can really recall in that 15years ago incident. He is doing well in Nigeria now. Please advise

He had better recall his last app and disclose every details of his last app in this his new app otherwise he will never smell USA na only for TV and dreams him go they see am. Biometrics or no biometrics they have his details.

So.....i should have posted this since November 2017 but sorry i am posting it now.

Before going for my visa interview in November, i read this thread like i was preparing for an exam and i must say it was very useful so i guess i have to share mine. Big thank you to all the gurus in the house.

As a background, i am single (widowed actually), i have a child (I was not required to fill any info about him in my visa application and i still don't understand why), I just changed my job when i applied and i was going for a 1 week training in a university. My only travel history is UAE (honeymoon) and an African country (work related). Almost everyone before me (over 15) was denied except a young lady seeking a student visa (her application was on hold as the VO told her they would verify the bank statement she presented), so i was afraid. That morning made sure i was well dressed. Sharp suit, crisp shirt but i did not wear a tie so as not to overdress. The VO was an African American lady.

My interview transcript.

Me: Good morning
VO: Can I have your passport (passed my passport)
VO: Where are you going
Me: xxxx university
VO: DC?
Me: Yes, Washington DC
VO: What are you travelling for?
Me: For xxxxx training
VO: What is the training about
Me: I explained
VO: How long are you staying:
Me: 8 days
VO: What do you do?
Me: I work as xxxx in xxxx consulting firm
VO: What does your firm do?
Me: *surprised at the question* i answered CONSULTING
VO: Obviously, what consulting?
Me: HR, Finance, Tech (i sha mention all the areas we consult in)
VO: Who are your clients?
Me: I start to mention name of clients and she cuts in.....
VO: I mean your own clients that you work on (she probably assumed i was a consultant or she was testing me as i already mentioned my role which is not a consulting role)
Me: I am not a consultant. I am xxxxx in the firm
VO: How long have you worked there?
Me: I just joined x months ago BUT i had worked in xxxxx Limited for almost 10 years before joining.
VO: Who is paying for the trip?
Me: My firm
VO: Who is your MD ( i guess she googled my company's name)
Me: Mentions the name of the md (i think the name i mentioned was not what came up in the search)
VO: Who is your chairman?
Me: Mentions name (at that point i knew she was checking google...cos the chaiman's name was what she wanted to hear)
VO: Have you travelled before:
Me: Yes. UAE for my honeymoon and Ghana for work.
VO: Do you have any family in the US?
Me: Nope
VO: Do you have any friend?
Me: Without thinking....i answered NO. (after saying NO, i remembered i had some friends in the US. I wanted to raise that but i sha kept quite)
VO: After what seemed like a long typing on her keyboard....she says....your visa is approved....bla bla bla.....i was not hearing anything again.
Me: Thank you.....with a smile.

No documents checked, no questions about my child or marital status. I collected my white paper and bounced out like a star.

This was my first attempt at getting a US visa. I had tried Canada for a conference about 5 years ago but was denied on the basis of no travel history.

Congrats enjoy your trip.

Now you can apply for Canada upon your return from USA if it necessary you visit canada

I agree with you. Me I like to state my comments with real experience particular those close to me.

Some years ago, one of my ladipo brothers (nna mhen)
Won lotto, so he decided to travel to USA. During his interview the vo asked him why he was visiting USA and he replied "I win Babi jebu and I want go amelika to go buy markit" vo was lost and my bloda repied ' I say I win Babi jebu, Babi jebu... You no dey hear me? I say I want go amelika make I go buy markit I win Babi jebu. Vo was lost and the people around had to chip in to explain to the vi what he was trying to say ( trust my ladipo bros them na Dem dey loud).
Vo laughed and the next thing was his visa collection slip.
Just be real and truthful, if you get the visa fine, if not, no qualms.during my first USA interview at a point I thought I wouldn't get it, and I was like woreva. I've got valid SA and schengel visa I will Paris go enjoy myself. I even told the vo I needed to be in France as soon as am done in the USA come cos I had to be in France, she asked my why and I replied that I had to be with my boy friend and we planned a vac in Paris at that time but he will be leaving ahead of me since he had official assignment that will take him there.

Hi all, I love this thread because of the valueble help and info.

I work in the reconciliation Dept of the DPR. I have never gone to the USA and I'm not married yet. A friend who lives in Charlotte,North Carolina is inviting me to the USA and I'm 32 years. Please what are my chances on getting a tourist visa to the USA successfully. The only ties I have are my landed properties and my job(i love my job)I have only traveled to Saudi Arabia (for a job) and two countries in Europe(for on the job training).

Hoping to hear from the gurus.

My dear just go to the interview and Do your thing, make sure you fill your form well and say it as it is, I was single too when I started travelling the world, my only tie then was my job, I didn't even have any landed property.

Be bold and confident when answering your questions during interview and show them your worth. if you get the visa fine, if you don't it's not a do or die affair, instead shift base to where your money is welcome becos as far as am concerned, it's your money you want to spend to add to their country's economy.

All the best.

My cousin got married to his friend after he won the USA lottery like 4 years back, but they were both denied visa at the embassy. Then few years later, her( my cousin) parent's petition was approved to immigrate to the USA since her parents are citizens through naturalization and she should be going with her spouse
. my question is will she be issued a visa, and what kind of questions will she be anticipating. Does she have better chances? All documents are intact. Thanks any valuable answer will be appreciated.

Na VO go fit answer that one on the day of interview.

A quick question pls.
I was discussing with a friend about a conference i will like to attend in April. She said i should pay the conference fee before going for the visa interview. That paying conference fee can further show the genuineness of my intent.
Actually, the conference fee doesnt have closing date. But it make no sense to me to pay conference fee now. What of if they deny me the visa? So i will now lose 15% of the conference fee or what? grin

$1700 no be beans oooh.
Abeg, i need experienced people opinion on this. Thanks.

If the fee is refundable, you can pay then go for your interview way ahead of the refundable due date incase you didn't get the visa.
