Unfortunately there is little we can do about them.

I was very unfortunate to have had a run in with Agberos on Eko bridge just facing the National Arts theater. My car broke down between 10 and 11Pm. as i pulled out my Caution sign to warn road users of the problem ahead.

3 boys stepped towards me from the dark and asked me for "Food Money" i replied I am in trouble here please help me push and i will pay your food money. out of the blues i received a slap from behind and as i turned i saw 4 other boys, one got into my car and started ransacking it. while the others continued to slap me about and ask where i kept my money. all this as people other cars drove by. I even got kicked in the nuts. can u believe that.

I was very fortunate that a policeman drove by on an Okada to halt my suffering. without phone, cash and dignity, i begged him to hang-around a little longer . he called a tow truck which i paid 10k (to take me home) and wrote him a cheque for 5k (for saving my life obviously)

Pray you never have to be in the hands of Agberos ever. I laughed when i heard of the Fashola CCTV. i guess he paid me back for that.

Fashola has no intentions of solving the area boy problem, neither did Tinubu or the present or past OBA of Lagos. they have a dastardly evil purpose and when the time comes, they will be used with deathly efficiency. (Obanikoro Nigerian Ambassador2ghana was an Agbero once)

It seems logical to assume all religions or beliefs put the responsibility of ones actions clearly in ones hands, we must accept responsibility for our actions and suffer the consequences or enjoy the benefits thereof.

One thing is certain,as time erodes or remoulds our sense in religious beliefs, faiths, traditions and lifestyle, we realize that what we take out of every religion is not the ceremonies or the stories or the fables and proverbs, rules, laws and injunctions of man sent by God, what we take out of any belief, faith or religion is this simple fact. we all have a purpose in this world (and after) and that purpose definitely does not entail destructive arguments that have the deliberate intention of staking claim to who has the right God or is Allah Eternal or is Jesus the Messiah or Satan the Deliverer. It solely involves how we live our lives here and among our fellow man (Yoruba, hausa, ibo, christian, occultist, Muslim, satanist, atheist, politicians, fanatics, pacifists and militants). at the end of the day, when you are faced with your maker and the prospects of how you will spend the rest of your spiritual life. what have you truly amounted to in the world here and present.

It is not a collective race, but each man must run his race (bear his cross - alone) to the very end.

Argue all you want, but ask yourself, am I doing this with an open mind (lest Satan walk in free) or am I doing this with a closed mind (and close my ears to God's wisdom)

I need to see that movie, District 9.

Madam Dora has no inkling about what her office is about.
1: What has she done about foreign relations (Nigeria is not an isolated country that can carry on the way she does hoping that printing more money will solve the problem of a bad house-wife)
2: Is she keeping an eye on our 'Worthy' ambassadors (especially the one in Ghana who brazenly frequents Nkrumah University to pick up dates)
3: What is her take and conflict resolution strategy for sectarian violence in Nigeria (That projects the worst image ever)
4: How is she managing the expectations of Nigerians in terms of her Negative Perception
5: WTF is she doing these days grin

The Problem really is not Nigerians. it is Leadership and Governance. I shall use my favorite mosquito analogy
1: 80% Deaths by Malaria occur in Africa http://www.cdc.gov/Malaria/impact/index.htm
2: 90% of those deaths are children under the age of 5, can you fcu#@#kin believe that (and Moji and her Grange cohorts decide to stiff the health ministry for millions of largess money)

Since we create and sustain a perfect environment for mosquitoes to breed, how can we think that pumping millions of dollars (that get stolen) into the problem will eradicate the problem. I for one do not think that Nigerian leaders are stupid, (you do not get that far on stupidity alone) they are evil, deliberately wicked and continuously deceitful.

Nigeria continues to create and sustain an environment that breeds 419ners, political crooks, kidnappers, violent religious fanatics, fake pastors and imans, criminal police force and lethargic military filled with self-aggrandizing pot-bellied military officers who own majority shares in major banks.

We are our problem

I am sorry for my people, very very sorry in fact the shame i feel right now can be compared to walking the streets drunk and naked only to arrive in a church and suddenly become sober.

Are we soooo stupid (poor ability to learn from experience or take advantage of it.)

Please my people, put on your thinking caps, when you play soccer games and come up against Cameroon we always figure the bias will be for Cameroon to lose the game by getting loads of Red Cards (We no see Cameroon complain)

Play Hitman I, II, Contracts and you will wonder whether Russia or Italy is the center of crime and prostitution worldwide, what about Drug Wars, did you not notice the in-depth attention given to drug smuggling locations within Colombia (did the Colombians complain?)

These games make mega bucks (billions of dollars) because of the element of realism and if it takes solid information gathering to make the game based on facts, why then are we bloody complaining.

I fear this Old Hag of an Information Minister will expend the last remnants of her energy making the intelligent community laugh at her poor knowledge of how things work in a global eco-system.

It is definitely good news, a lot better than when i first heard GLO was going into commercial Internet via their USB modems.
But i have had a horrendous experience since then, I lost a lot of money through spurious charges, inefficient billing and abysmal customer support, Yet their infrastructure ranks the best among all telcos in Nigeria (first grade only)

Yet as some have mentioned, there is that 'Nigeria' element. it seems stupid to fall to such an analogy, but in the end GLO has done much for Nigeria but they definitely leave a sour after-taste in your mouth. let us hope the pedigree of Funke Okpeke (MainOneCable) will act as a balance to GLO's incompetence in the end-user side of his business.

Science/Technology › Most Reliable Pto For Dedicated Voice/fax by lagerwhenindoubt(op): 1:52pm On Sep 04, 2009
I have come across several new businesses (starups) that need to have dedicated phone lines and a fax that goes with their business cards

With all the hoopla about the rise of GSM companies and Fixed Wireless providers, one would think this is an easy problem to solve

1: MTN provides Fixed lines that come with Fax capabilities but do not (currently) have lines to offer customers in the ikoyi area
2: 21CTL also have taken the sweat to pull fibre-optic cable through Lagos and did not think it wise to carry copper cables along to serve smaller customers who cannot afford to foot the N1 million for E1 lines
3: IPNX are still waiting for NCC to approve new lines before they can service new customers with phone/fax lines
4: Multilinks/Starcomms do not offer fax features

Please NLers can you recommend any other provider who does not require you to pay as much asN1 million naira for a phone/fax line or is waiting for NCC to approve more lines for them (please do not mention NITEL)

Thanks

Both advocate Peace and Violence at one time or another
Both claim the right to designate heaven to all believers of the Faith
Both claim to the the only Truth and nothing else notwithstanding.
Both lay sole claim to deaths of millions worldwide from the day they were first concieved.

I think the problem goes deeper than similarities and differences or messages and messenger.
Christianity Etc › Boko Haram Resurrects, Declares Total Jihad - Please Pray For This Nation by lagerwhenindoubt(op): 5:21pm On Aug 17, 2009
Boko Haram Resurrects, Declares Total Jihad
http://infidelsunite.typepad.com/counter_jihad/2009/08/boko-haram-resurrects-declares-total-jihad.html
Source: Counter Jihad: News for Infidels

The Islamic sect Boko Haram has declared total Jihad in Nigeria, threatening to Islamise the entire nation by force of war.

In a statement dated August 9, 2009, and made available to Vanguard, the sect whose activities led to the lost of hundreds of lives in northern Nigeria recently declared that their leader Yusuf who was killed in controversial circumstances during the crisis, lives forever.

In what looked like a declaration of war on the rest of the nation, the Boko Haram sect said it will unleash terror in Southern Nigeria this August, beginning with the bombing of Lagos, Ibadan, Enugu to make good its words.

Vanguard reproduces the statement below as issued by Boko Haram.

For the first time since the Killing of Mallam Mohammed Yusuf, our leader, we hereby make the following statements.

1) First of all that Boko Haram does not in any way mean 'Western Education is A sin' as the infidel media continue to portray us. Boko Haram actually means 'Western Civilisation' is forbidden. The difference is that while the first gives the impression that we are opposed to formal education coming from the West, that is Europe, which is not true, the second affirms our believe in the supremacy of Islamic culture (not Education), for culture is broader, it includes education but not determined by Western Education.

In this case we are talking of Western Ways of life which include: constitutional provision as if relates to, for instance the rights and privileges of Women, the idea of homosexualism, lesbianism, sanctions in cases of terrible crimes like drug trafficking, rape of infants, multi-party democracy in an overwhelmingly Islamic country like Nigeria, blue films, prostitution, drinking beer and alcohol and many others that are opposed to Islamic civilisation.

2) That the Boko Haram is an Islamic Revolution which impact is not limited to Northern Nigeria, in fact, we are spread across all the 36 states in Nigeria, and Boko Haram is just a version of the Al Qaeda which we align with and respect. We support Osama bin Laden, we shall carry out his command in Nigeria until the country is totally Islamised which is according to the wish of Allah.

3) That Mallam Yusuf has not died in vain and he is a martyr. His ideas will live for ever.

4) That Boko Haram lost over 1000 of our Marty members killed by the wicked Nigerian army and police mostly of Southern Nigeria extraction. That the Southern states, especially the infidel Yoruba, Igbon and Ijaw infidels will be our immediate target.

5) That the killing of our leaders in a callous, wicked and malicious manner will not in any way deter us. They have lost their lives in the struggle for Allah.

Having made the following statement we hereby reinstate our demands:

1) That we have started a Jihad in Nigeria which no force on earth can stop. The aim is to Islamise Nigeria and ensure the rule of the majority Muslims in the country. We will teach Nigeria a lesson, a very bitter one.

2) That from the Month of August, we shall carry out series of bombing in Southern and Northern Nigerian cities, beginning with Lagos, Ibadan, Enugu and Port Harcourt. The bombing will not stop until Sharia and Western Civilisation is wiped off from Nigeria. We will not stop until these evil cities are tuned into ashes.

3) That we shall make the country ungovernable, kill and eliminate irresponsible political leaders of all leanings, hunt and gun down those who oppose the rule of Sharia in Nigeria and ensure that the infidel does not go unpunished.

4) We promise the West and Southern Nigeria, a horrible pastime. We shall focus on these areas which is the devil empire and has been the one encouraging and sponsoring Western Civilisation into the shores of Nigeria.

5) We call on all Northerners in the Islamic States to quit the follower ship of the wicked political parties leading the country, the corrupt, irresponsible, criminal, murderous political leadership, and join the struggle for Islamic Society that will be corruption free, Sodom free, where security will be guaranteed and there will be peace under Islam.

6) That very soon, we shall stir Lagos, the evil city and Nigeria's South West and South East, in a way no one has ever done before. Al Hakubarah

ITS EITHER YOU ARE FOR US OR AGAINST US

Mallam Sanni Umaru

Acting Leader Boko Haram

Signed: August 09, 2009
Let us for once mull over this issue with clear thoughts and an open mind

There has always been a tendency for NL discussants to allow a topic degrade to base, illogical and most times nonsensical views. Please let us look at this matter with levity

1: Should this threat be carried out, what form of security intelligence does this nation have to counter so-called illiterate fanatics who somehow have made clear statements and have grown without resistance from any security agency (save at the last minute)
2: Are our military forces equipped to handle such an event (socially, mentally, physically and weapon-wise)
3: Is the reigning federal/state/government council leadership sufficiently equipped (mentally, socially) to manage issues such as these in their respective domains (sectarian violence has deep roots in nigeria more than any African nation)
4: How difficult is it to smuggle several explosives across 3rd mainland bridge or across a busy street on the marina or in a full restaurant at the MM2 airport or a Church in full service on Harvest Sunday.

Think, it is very easy to carry out the Boko Haram Threat to the letter.

IMHO i fear our political and religious leaders continue to fail us. All that might be worth trying is praying unselfishly to resolve our growing problems without violence

I wonder how exactly this bust has made things safer for Nigerians. there will always be card readers since the days of DSTV card cloning. there will always be clonign machines since the days of Multilinks cloned phones, it is not the technology we should be worried about, but our policy and precautions we take when we decide to use ATM Cards.

1: Stay away from ATMs located in Restaurants and Petrol Stations since workers can connive with security to stay late and bug the ATM machines with card readers before users come in the mornings to withdraw
2: Stay away from ATMs located near busy bustops e.g Cele Bus Stop Aguda Surulere, or ones situated within Hotels
3: Always watch your back when withdrawing and be quick about it. try not to do this at night when there is no one around.
4: lastly, never reveal your PIN to anyone via email, SMS or word of mouth, do not write it down either

I have noticed that when we argue (a discussion in which reasons are advanced for and against some proposition or proposal) on these boards.

We are not proposing based on a premise, we are simply consolidating on an assumption that we believe to be fact and that the foundation of this fact cannot be questioned but accepted. When we do things like this we end up with a pre-conceived conclusion which cannot change unless the facts are discovered to be either incorrect or flawed in their interpretation which makes for even more complex and hydra-headed arguments that in reality will never be answered until we face God on Judgment day.

Pls people, become open-minded does not mean Shatan will slip his corrupted doctrines into our well-aware minds and hypnotize us into believing what is untruth from following clear evidence presented.

With an open mind, let us remove the veil of history and wear the lens of clarity.

When it comes to making buddies, men tend to have less presumptuous motives, it is either a buddy from way back, a drinking mate, office pals but rarely ones that help advance ones career or prospects in life. likewise women. but when you get married, your circle of friends may still look the same but i am sure the un-serious types will find their level after a couple of visits and the rest will shape up (Ship out). She will become concerned about the company you keep (male and female) and would deliberately guide you towards successful males of her close friends or office acquaintances, she would love you to hangout with the serious class that will ensure your financial success so she does not have to panic when her water breaks or when the rent is due.

So guys do not fret, just adjust as need be, your drinking buddies are only good for you if they sip champagne not paraga or small stout on a plastic table surrounded by barfing waiters who have had enough of your belching.

Now here is the story behind the story

All LGA in Nigeria get their monthly allocations from the FG and there are 23 LGA in Kogi State.

All LG Chairmen in Kogi state are engaged in 'ESUSU' monthly pyramid contribution scheme. every month, 1 chairman gets N23 Million Naira in this scheme.

Here is what happened that we did not know,

Someone within the circles of the LGA Chairmen informed the kidnappers of this profitable development and they were there to make sure they made the snatch.

N20 million was the ransom not N60 Million as published. and the LGA Chairmen involved raised N10 million and sent their wives (as demanded by the kidnappers) to make the drop, the wives were also kidnapped for another N10 million (Making N20 Million) they were just released yesterday.

So tell me, should the EFCC not be in on this case

Gunmen Kidnap 2 LG Chairmen in Kogi
From Wole Ayodele in Lokoja, 08.07.2009

Chairmen of Igalamela/ Odolu Local Government Council, Hon. Ernest Abah, and Yagba West of Kogi State, Hon. Ropo Asala, were yesterday kidnapped by gunmen at a hotel in Kabba.
The duo had gone to the town to attend the monthly meeting of council chairmen in the state.
Also, three of the police orderlies attached to the chairmen were killed by the gunmen, while the police killed one of the kidnappers.
The gunmen had arrived the hotel at about 7am in two Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Toyota Hilux vehicles armed with sophisticated weapons.
The Personal Assistant (P.A.) to the Chairman of Okene Local Government, Hon. Yahaya Karaku, simply identified as Yakubu, and his driver, who sustained serious injuries, were taken to the Specialist Hospital in Lokoja for treatment.
One of the council chairmen, who narrated the incident to THISDAY in Lokoja on condition of anonymity, said he was in the bathroom when he heard movements at the back of his room and peeped through the window.
He said he saw some of his colleagues who were met at the entrance on their way out of the hotel and were directed by the kidnappers to kneel down and raise their hands in submission.
According to him, a police orderly had earlier fired and killed one of the kidnappers, while the gunmen responded swiftly with their more sophisticated weapons and killed three of the police orderlies, while Karaku’s P.A, Yakubu, and the driver were hit by stray bullets from the gunmen.
The kidnappers were said to have used the public address system in the police vehicle to call all the remaining chairmen in the hotel to come out on their own volition and threatened to kill anyone of them found in the room.
THISDAY gathered that it was at that point that most of the chairmen went out of their rooms and were directed to lie down on the floor.
“At this point, I sneaked out of my room through the terrace and jumped over the wall of the hotel into a nearby bush and that was where I stayed till they eventually departed in some of the vehicles belonging to my colleagues after abandoning their own vehicles. It was indeed a harrowing experience,” revealed the council chairman.
The monthly meeting of the chairmen, the hosting of which is rotated among the councils, was on Wednesday night followed by a get-together party which lasted till the early hours of yesterday and was said to have been attended by 17 of the 21 chairmen in the state.
Those absent included the Chairmen of Koton-Karfe, Ibrahim Shaba; Ajaokuta, Samson Bako; Ibaji, Abraham Uchola; and Olamaboro, Yunusa Olofu.
Confirming the incident, the state Acting Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, stated that the kidnappers came from Ekiti State where they had kidnapped some people whom they moved from their own vehicles into other vehicles.
He added that the two police vehicles used by the gang had been recovered as efforts were being made to trace the kidnappers.
When THISDAY called Yagba West Chairman’s phone, it was picked by a man with a husky voice who responded thus: “Who are you and who do you want to speak to?”
The line thereafter went dead and was eventually switched off.
As at the time of filing the report, the chairmen were at a closed door meeting with the state Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, while the Acting Police Commissioner, Magaji, was seen arriving the Government House ostensibly to brief the governor of developments.
THISDAY gathered last night that the kidnappers called the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Toluwaju Faniyi, with Abbah’s phone and demanded N60 million ransom for the kidnapped chairmen.
