f#$@ckin illiterates, try 99%, when the flood came upon the earth, did you figure 80% made it on to the Ark.

if Heaven was so easy to get into, we won't be having this present aggressive, at-all-cost religious drive to convert sinners.

I sincerely doubt that over 100,000 persons will make it into heaven. don't think it is as easy as killin yourself in the name of a cause.

Majority of Muslims and Christians on Nairaland engage in aimless banter originated by Atheists or posters with intentions to humiliate either religion.

They have little focus on issues at hand and believe that by being zealots, they are doign the work of God or Allah.

They are simply all going to hell because they shout the loudest about what God wants us to do and then they never do it.

Live by example Christians and Muslims not by mere words with no spit to stick it to the wind

Hypocrites!!!

Muslims and Christians (sad to be classified as one)

Love religion so badly they forget that God teaches love for either persons of any religion

Always on about ceremony, prayer is ceremonial, acts of righteousness is ceremonial, going to church or mosque is ceremonial,

Being Christian or Muslim is a way of life not a religion you blind hypocrites

tsk, tsk, tsk, soo typical

it is simply this sort of approach to problem-solving that makes the Blackman soo slow to move towards progress, small-vision tactics, Look at the BIG Picture, one Obama does not mean squat, we need millions of Obamas

just because you are an upstanding Black person does not make everyone else, guy, just accept the fact that numbers count and if you were truly to look at this without sentiments and personal feelings, you will know that you are probably one good one in 50 black men in America today.

Christianity Etc › Scriptural Abuse By Christians? Touch Not My Anointed And Others by lagerwhenindoubt(op): 4:05pm On Jul 09, 2009
Good day nairalanders

I have tried in several posts on Nairaland regarding some core questions on christian religion that need clear-cut answers from our numerous posters who continually use the following lines to evade or conclude without even giving you some insight as to the basis of their conclusion
[li]Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm - Psalms 105:15 Nairaland Search Results = 112[/li]
[li]Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged - Matt. 7:1 Nairaland Search Results = 1,410[/li]
The second verse is sometimes used in a completely misleading fashion as you will often here it this way . Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged!
and Let He Who is Without Sin Cast the First Stone

I must confess. I am deeply hurt by the fact that every Christian on Nairaland who has used either of the above verses have done so as a veiled THREAT and in defense of a Christian Leader whose ACCOUNTABILITY has been called to question in the face of unarguable facts. They continually use small-vision tactics, by excluding almost 80% of what is presented and using the fact that it is in the Bible to build their conclusions

TOUCH NOT MY ANOINTED
So for Clarification Purposes here is the full Chapter
The LORD’S Wonderful Works in Behalf of Israel.
1 Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name;  Make known His deeds among the peoples.
2 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;  Speak of all His wonders.
3 Glory in His holy name;  Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
4 Seek the LORD and His strength;  Seek His face continually.
5 Remember His wonders which He has done,  His marvels and the judgments uttered by His mouth,
6 O seed of Abraham, His servant,  O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones!
7 He is the LORD our God;  His judgments are in all the earth.
8 He has remembered His covenant forever,  The word which He commanded to a thousand generations,
9 The covenant which He made with Abraham,  And His oath to Isaac.
10 Then He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,  To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan  As the portion of your inheritance,”
12 When they were only a few men in number,  Very few, and strangers in it.
13 And they wandered about from nation to nation,  From one kingdom to another people.
14 He permitted no man to oppress them,  And He reproved kings for their sakes:
15 “Do not touch My anointed ones,  And do My prophets no harm.”
16 And He called for a famine upon the land;  He broke the whole staff of bread.
this text continues up-till verse 45 (excluded but you can read it up yourself here http://biblebrowser.com/psalms/105-1.htm)

The second phrase is
JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED
Judging Others

1 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged.
2 “For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
4 “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye?
5 “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
6 “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Let us now clarify the issue of Anointing as in the scriptures.
What does it mean to be anointed in the Old Testament
In the OT (Old Testament) the Bible teaches that the Children of God (Israel) were God's anointed flock. it also classifies three groups that God sets apart for his work in the old days, Priests, prophets, and kings who were anointed with Olive oil. These ones are called of God and when God calls you, He equips you for the work at hand, he does not look for the equipped before calling them. People please take note

There are three types of Anointing for people: Sacred, medical and ordinary.
[li]The Prophet Isaiah writes 10:27, “. . . the yoke of the evil onewill be destroyed because of the anointing oil.” [/li]
[li]You can anoint yourself by taking some oil and place a small amount on your forehead and claim YAHWEH’S promise of HIS strength (Ps.92:10).
[/li]
[li]The Apostle John writes in 1 John 2:27, that anointing refers to a Sacred spiritual process in which the Holy Spirit empowers a persons heart and mind with YAHWEH’S truth and love.  [/li]
In the NT (New Testament) Jesus Christ The Messiah, died in order that we may have the same anointing by the Holy Spirit. You can pray to receive or fall under the Anointing every day before you go to work just as your Pastor can receive God's Anointing to pastor his flock on Sunday or any other day that is deemed for worship.

Let us look at Anointing in the NT so were are sure what we are talking about

Matt.6.17 - But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
Mark.6.13 - And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them.
Mark.14.8 - She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burial.
Mark.16.1 - When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.
Luke.4.18 - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
Luke.7.38 - and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment.
John.9.6 - Having said these things, he spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man’s eyes with the mud
Acts.4.26 - The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’—
Acts.4.27 - for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,
Acts.10.38 - how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
2Cor.1.21
- And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us,
Heb.1.9 - You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”
Jas.5.14 - Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
1John.2.20 - But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.
1John.2.27 - But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything—and is true and is no lie, just as it has taught you—abide in him.

Further research reading here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anointing

Therefore the term "anointing" means to "authorize, or set apart, a person for a particular work or service," (Is.61:1). The New Testament is absolutely clear on whom the anointing rests - ALL of Christ's disciples, who are God's very own, set apart and commissioned for service (2 Cor. 1:21). The New Testament does not support the notion of a greater anointing based on position

With regards to Judging Christian Leadership I have these verses
1Cor. 6:2-3 Do you not know that the saints [the saved; Christians] will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!
Prov. 3:21 My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight;
John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
Jer. 22:3 Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness,
Phil. 1:10 so that you may be able to discern [judge] what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ,

My Submission starts here.
[li]Christians must recognize the meaning of an anointed one (OT and NT) and that the verse they so flippantly froth out is in their minds ill-conceived and ill-delivered and fraught with hidden intentions[/li]
[li]The verse in particular was recounting the journey to and out of Egypt to the promise land and the trials they faced among surrounding enemies NOT Christian leadership[/li]
[li]We must Judge with discernment and wisdom the misdeeds of others knowing that we must do this without bias and ill-intent[/li]
[li]Christians who cannot cleanup their own house risk complete shame, humiliation and utter destruction like Saul (Anointed of God by Samuel)[/li]
[li]Christians must realize the the life of Christianity is based on Trust (Faith) and that by blindly following teachings without questioning can allow that trust to be exploited[/li]
@Recognise (soo RAPease)

We can say something as a matter of fact. the White Man enslaved, capitalised, raped and murdered the Black Man, that was hundreds of years ago. Statistically speaking, there are more black on black crimes that black on any other race in America (unconfirmed but willing to bet my nuts).

and Guess what, the indians were enslaved, so were the Asians but you do not see them blame it on the white man. they have long moved on. it is time we stop the self-pity and stop blaming the white man for our woes. we put all our frustrations on our women and children, if you disagree then it is a good thing that 1 out of 50 black men treat women with the dignity they deserve.

But let us face the truth as we always love to avoid it when we know it is true.

The Black Race has a very peculiar gene that forces a majority to wallow in poverty, sin and backwardness. Look at leadership in Africa over the past 2 decades, look at the crisis that has ravage the Blackman from time immemorial, I am want to believe (sometimes) that we are actually stock from Monkeys. Look at Black America today, durign the Clinton Administration, there was Affirmative Action for Minorities (Mind you only the Blacks don' t mind the tag minority) Hundreds of Blacks were encouraged to get an Education with monetary incentives, what did they do? they refused to graduate and filled out admission forms for multiple colleges to they could collect college money.

The height of respect and dignity does not come from being a successful businessman rather one who has paid his dues to gangs, done drugs, gone to prison or is doing life in prison. wear singlets and sagging jeans and play loud music in public places and speak in truncated vocabulary, beat up girl-friends and wives and think it is hip to visit strip joints and slip hard-earned money into their panties.

Majority of Black Men do not deserve Black women and I mean worldwide, we blackmen have not done enough to deserve the women we get.

What did you expect. multiple tennis champion earning good money, marrying a bastard of a black man, cheating husband and self-pitying fool.

It is bound to happen when spiritual anointing mutates into egotistical posturing. Solomon did it , Saul did it and a host of many other anointed leaders of God's Children. it is not new what Mr Enoch does, he is just so darn successful at it that it befuddles our senses.

Clueless citizenry that are too lazy to take their destinies into their own hands fall back to religion rather than asking for God's help. We have become Pastor praising, Men-Of-God Worshiping and Miracle-salivating Dogs who follow any master who can promise the most miracles while showing off.

I Prayed.

Dear Father in Heaven. May your Name be Eternally Glorified from Eternity to Eternity.
My your praises ring loud from the voices of the righteous and may your children be proven true today and forever more.

We know Father that while we are large in numbers (approx. 40 Million at home) our collective voices in prayer has not stopped Lucifer from reigning freely in this world, We know that countless gruesome fasting ordeals that we have gone through was for our personal gratification that we believe is our God-given right as Christians to claim (Whether we deserve it or not)

We know Father that, while we receive our anointed leaders (in government and in churches) with joy and expectation, they have become strong in stature and arrogant in self-righteousness. We humbly beseech  thee Most Holy Father, God of Divine Justice and Limitless Mercy.

Like in the days of True Prophets in the mold of Elijah, Samuel and Elisha, Please Father, Expose these fallen leaders, tear down their vaunted empires of deceit and fraud for they have used your Holy name and mandate to execute the work of SATAN the Evil Beast of the Apocalypse.

They have plundered the blessing promised to your children and enslaved the intellect of this nation.

Please Father, do not let this prayer fall to the ground. Disgrace our Fallen Religious and Political Leaders like Saul and Solomon, they shall fall on their own Swords which they used to cut our limbs of Hope for restoration

2: Bear better fruits, ones expected of them

Let us assume we have just 50 million Nigerians (home and abroad) and for the sake of consistency, 35 Million Nigerians are Muslims, 5 Million are all sorts and 15 Million are christians.

I think it is safe and within reason to cut the figure from 135 million (Africa's most populous nation) to 50 Million

Let us ask ourselves,  honestly. do we have 750,000 thousand (5%) Christians who honestly worship God in Spirit and in Truth, and boy do Christians do a lot of Spirit worshiping (but fall short in the Truth part because Christianity is a Religion not a way of Life)

Just a bunch of thrill-seeking religious pacifists who get high on religion because they lack the balls to face their problems squarely

When Pastors of this damned nation cannot raise their finger and swear that we have up to 750k righteuos christians, then why have they been commissioned pastors, they have failed miserably . .because if God can listen to one man and give Lot a chance of survival, why not 750k

you are just being combia combia grin

Mathew 7: 16.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. This common figure is wonderfully expressive. Not leaves (professions), or appearance, are the proper tests of the life that is in the tree, but the fruit it bears. We are to test men and every institution by this principle.

Grapes of thorns. Two of the most highly valued fruits of Palestine are grapes and figs. Nothing is more common than thorns and thistles. Geike says that it is the land of thorns and thorny plants. Good fruit cannot be expected on such evil stocks.

Ye shall know them by their fruits-not their doctrines-as many of the elder interpreters and some later ones explain it-for that corresponds to the tree itself; but the practical effect of their teaching, which is the proper fruit of the tree.

Do men gather grapes of thorns-any kind of prickly plant. or figs of thistles?-a three-pronged variety. The general sense is obvious-
Every tree bears its own fruit.

But generally speaking. I well and truly hate Christians with every fibre of my being. don't get me wrong, I love Jesus Christ (my lord and saviour) . but i cannot imagine how a nation of 54 million christians not having any positive effect on the nation

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

By jove all the Pastors in this damned country should be brought to question.

I sincerely hope not, but hope is not an exact scientific meter.

You can be born evil (that we know) because through Adam we where born into sin.

What is Evil, how do you separate the concept of Evil from the Concept of Homosexuality. is there a filtration process that exclusively says being Gay is not Evil or being Evil does not mean you will be Gay. If we can accept that we are born sinners, then it is not improbable that the genes of some Gay folks will inevitably be passed to the children.

If we can accept that the sins of the father carry through generations, then why not being gay.

Family › Would You Fight Robbers At The Risk Of Death To Protect Your Family by lagerwhenindoubt(op): 10:15am On Jun 04, 2009
A close friend was robbed this year in the Surulere area

His pregnant wife and house-help were raped and he was beaten up seriously.

Valuables worth over N1m was carted away as he watched helplessly.

He had the mind to fight but his wife pleaded. (she lost the baby by the way)

My question is.

1: Would you risk pain and possibly death to challenge and possibly kill an armed robber.

Consider the following before you answer
1: The trauma is unimaginable
2: Psychological friction it will create between spouses can only be imagined
3: Possible infections from HIV to other STDs
4: Constant fear of staying indoors or in any other neighborhood in close proximity to the event
Politics › Re: Fashola Insists On State Police • Wants Special Status For Lagos by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 9:28am On Jun 04, 2009
I think the idea is appropriate but the current political environment will ensure it is used for political gain.

I have been robbed at home twice in 2007 and once in 2008 (This year has been smooth so far) and a friend got robbed last night at home. in all instances a police check point was several meters away from my house, infact there is a police station on my street. Adetola Str. robberies occur like there was no form of security and i realized why.

Fed Police are not prepared psychologically for the day's business because they busy collecting passage fees from okadas and bus drivers (occasionally the unfortunte tax-paying citizen who forgot his drivers license)

A well trained state police and well paid ones will do a better job
