Politics / Re: Pdp Rigged Northern States? by Lagosboy: 11:50am On Apr 14, 2011
The Abuja election was a classic example IMO, CPC won at Aso rock and all the major polling centers in Abuja only for some massive figures to trickle in from God knows where.

Politics / Pdp Rigged Northern States? by Lagosboy: 11:48am On Apr 14, 2011
‎I was fowarded this

Here is how northern states were rigged in favour of the PDP: Each polling unit with more than 500 registered voters have sub polling units. These sub units exist only on papers and not physically because INEC claimed they can't afford to pay extra staff for the sub units. Therefore, the ballot papers for the sub units were then thumb printed in favour of the ruling party in connivance with the Residence Electoral Officers. So, even if an opposition party led in the major polling units, like was indeed the case, the sum total of rigged votes from sub polling units was what reversed CPC gains. My sources were the many corps members who witnessed, first hand these manipulations.

> We therefore call on all well meaning Nigerians who deserve a successful democracy with leaders of their choice in Power to send this message out.

> This will alert INEC that we know their plans. Nigerians are not fools! Party officials of all the parties should also get the verified list of polling units and have their representatives there. Any polling unit or sub-polling unit on paper but not actually on ground will be noted by these party officials and the whistle blown early enough! Please let's get broadcasting, !!!

ÄCN were a bit hardline on the negotiations when they said the recieved "intelligence reports" that CPc doesnt even have the funds to pay party agents this saturday. Guys i thinkif we can we should please donate to the main campaign at this moment.

Nigerian Politics is real war, Finance is a major factor and if Buhari had a just couple of honest Rich men behind him such useless comments will not be comming from ACN.
Politics / Re: Ribadu; They Ve Destroyed My Candidature by Lagosboy: 8:33am On Apr 14, 2011
If the story is true , i believe sometimes one has to make compromises in politics. Good to hear Ribadu agreed to step down,. I dont want to believe Bakare refused to sign that letter based on selfsih reasons because he was the same person who offered to step aside if Buhari wanted to choose Ngozi Iweala.

I personally feel Buhari should have offered Bakare a buffer of appointing him as chief of staff or SGF which IMO is practically stronger than a VP. Although a VP is constituitonally stronger. All we want is these good men in power and in control, your position is not as important now. Buhari already knows whom he will trust and whom he will solicit advice from as at the end of the day he is President.

Poltitics has many tricks in it, one has to learn how to out manouvre the other person smoothly as well as cunningly. The post dated letter will not hold water if Bakare even refuses to go.

Having said that i really dont know how much votes ACN can actually garner for Buhari in the SW , maybe 20% more votes than he will ordinarily achieve. Saturday will enable us know God willing.

See them (BB fans) insulting Knowall because he has seen the light!! What kind of intolerance is this This is bad mehn!! We need to learn to be tolerant no matter what views others have!! The same religious vigour that sees terrorists bombing innocent citizens is the same kind of intolerance that is been visited on those that choose to take a stand in line with their conscience. This is not a religion that says if you convert, you should be killed. This is an election please and people should be free to switch sides!!

@Knowall
You are one man I respect!! You views right are and your knowledge is tight!!

Can you show me where i have insulted Knowall on this thread

Its the stoning culture, a grown man tells you his mind is shifting and you pick up stones to throw at him. Thats jihad sir.

Please be matured enough to know the fine line between poltical differences and insulting another religion. I will not waste my time schooling you but I want to still believe you have a conscience to tell you , your statements are bigoted and needless.

I recall justcash tossing GEJ under the bus and hopping on the BB train. We GEJ supporters didn't offer a single word of abuse, instead we tried to persuade him back.
Today, we are choffed that he is back.

What is it with BB people that they are so aggressive and quick to insult? Reminds me of sharia.

Please in the name of God dont let us go down relgious intolerance. What has sharia got to do with this. Why do you have to insult the senesitivities of millions of muslims. You have a right to support GEJ but not bashing the religon of another candidate.

As far as i know I have not thrown one insult at knowall and i never insult anyone here on NL. You could prove me wrong if you can.

@lagosboy
Is it 25% of votes from each state of 24 state OR 25% of commutative vote of 24 states ?

It is 25% of each state , the whole idea is to prevent a president emerging just with the support of his region. A leadear has to have support across at least 4 out of the 6 geo political zones of the country

Leave the guy alone. You are the one with no clue. Standing till the end is why Gbagbo was disgracefully captured in a bunker. Standing till the end is why Gaddafi is killing his own people with reckless abandon. When your course no longer makes sense, it is honourable to face reality and chose an alternative course. You don't have to finish a chosen course especially when you no longer believe in it.

You sounded like a typical Buhari apologist, always seeing no wrong in their folly. The Buhari you worship is also not so intelligent and realistic, wanting everyone to bow at his feet even when they bring much more to the table than him. Some arrogant lots!

What kind of comparison are you making ? We are talking about an election in 3 days time , where did you get the notion that the cause is lost. Why will you give up in an election where everyone knows you have a chance of winning, an election 65% at least of northern votes will go to you.

It is called principles buddie, we see integrity in Buhari and Bakare and we will vote for them Elections is not a do or die affair, if we lose we lose this is politcs. This i have to win mentality is what is killing our politics, if there was no opposition Nigeria would have been a 1 party state.

Was at the town hall meeting;

Nothing was said about the merger thingy.

Full details; Opening Prayer, Award to Buhari by National Youth Organisaction (NYO), Speech by a certain politician from Nassarawa, I think, and finally the crowd moving speech by Buhari. At a certain point though, the General bursted into tears for the country and the crowd followed suit.

Finally Closing Prayer and crowd dispersed.

Nothing was said on merger or no merger.

I suggest everybody should just work as if the merger ain"t gonna come to fruition anymore.

I think Buhari is really caught between whether to compromise principles or to maintain his stand. It ain"t easy on the man @ all. It was sooo glaring.Aisha, over to you, on any detail left out.

This is the problem in the murky waters of Nigerian politics, Principled men never go far in anything. Hisintegrity has brought him this far and it will God willing propel him to Aso Rock in May. This is the last lap and we shall not give up.

Guys, I am worried about this 2/third - run-off that is in our constitution. I know Buhari is going to win landslide but meeting the 2/3 states in one thing I am analysing and considering. Will this clause be effected ? Remember what happened during Obafemi Awolowo. What is BB chance if re-run comes to play ? Are we working towards it. Can somebody educate us more about this ? At least for the benefit of all

If he wins by landslide and does not achieve 25% of votes in 2/3 of the country which is 24 states then the election goes to a run off between the winner and 2nd . The Nigerian populace now have another chance to vote between the 2 of them. with or without ACns support the Nigerian people have the final say.

Connect the quotes below with 'I am voting Goodluck, Not PDP'
“His thoughts are concentrated on the events and feelings (humble and God-sent Goodluck) of the moment, and he suffers little from the apprehension for the future (Same PDP government again for another 4 years), or grief for the past (caused by PDP to which Jonathan has been a part and parcel of for 12 years) , Perhaps the two traits which have impressed me as those most characteristic of this African native are his lack of apprehension and his lack of ability to visualize the future. (Not thinking Akala, Gbenga Daniel, Iyabo Obasanjo, Saraki and co will form the next PDP government as ministers or ambassadors) "

Text of Press Conference Addressed by Chief Bisi Akande (ACN)Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Presidential Election: There is no pact between ACN and CPC – ACN

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) wishes to inform all its teeming supporters as well as all Nigerians that there is no alliance between the party and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) ahead of Saturday's presidential election.

While it is true that representatives of both parties have engaged in talks aimed at forging an alliance that could dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the clueless party that has frittered away the huge opportunities that could have transformed our great country in the past 12 years, we regret to announce that such talks have not led to any alliance.

We as party that believes in democratic values have therefore decided that in the overall interest of the parties involved, our democracy as well as our country, it is better for each of the parties to go into the presidential election on its own platform.

If at the end of the election on Saturday there is no clear winner we will make a decision on which way to go, in the overriding interest of all Nigerians.

Chief Bisi Akande
National Chairman
Action Congress of Nigeria

Aisha will come backto feed us the outcome, but from my phone discussion with her, it was one very emotional event where people were crying seeing Buhari's sincerity and honesty as he spoke.

Is it true the Peoples general shed tears for the nation while he spoke ?

9ijaMan:

Guys, I have been following news about the talks very closely on the issue of the alliance between CPC and ACN, which is indeed still on going as against some contrary impression peddled in some 9ja dailies today. BAsed on the latest info at my disposal, there is still a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. If ACN does not play dirty politicking, all agreements should be signed tonight as CPC seems to have made some further concessions. In the meantime, let's keep up the effort and also continue to pray as we work hard towards achieving the set objective of having GMB sworn in as Nigeria's 7th civilian president, come 29th of May 2011.

I think the alliance is dead for the saturday election. Bisi Akande already issued a statement to this effect.

This is nothing about Ciroma, is Ciroma going to be the president, the same Ciroma GEJ has been begging for 3 months ? Ciroma has seen the signs on the wall about Buharis popularity abd does not want to be on the losing side.

This is no nothern issue it is about our future as a country. Common i thought you were more than this.
