First, I have to apologise for being so harsh on you because I don't know you. But I was so disgusted, I could not hold myself. Your comments was so insensitive, I wondered in which world you live in. This started when Head of States like IBB and Abacha defended "family support". From dash to bribe to support! Should we now take aberation and twisted denigration of human decency as norm? Na who vicious circle epp? Adakintroy2: |
It is true that labor that is supposed to represent poorly paid workers are supposed to fight for them. Las las by the time they finally get increase in minimum wage, politicians, doctors, Army and Police have already doubled their pay, legally or illegally. |
This is one of the armed robbers you are looking for. It is easy to spot them. So bribe and extortion from Police is now a right if we want law and order. Everyone from politicians, lawyers, doctors, teachers to armed robbers demand more money from the same pot. Adakintroy2: |
Drivers, househelps and visitors are being advised that going to the Island pose a health risk. Coming back home to crowded areas of Makoko, Ajekunle, Odofin, Mushin areas can create another deadly Spain, Italy, Europe and America. Joke or serious warning? |
So sidekicks are not human because you think you have one man to yourself? All these Hypocrites. You would think there equal numbers of men and women. As if monogamy is part of African culture. Wait until your daughter is over 30 and tell her to marry Jesus. |

Most people would rather die in comfort going the way he came into this world without being a burden to anyone than die in pain and isolation. Iyiataata92: |
Isolation Without Girl-friend, Alcohol, Cigar, Coffee Or Tea Deadly What is life in your fifties to eighties if you are left in physical isolation from your family, even in the same house? Life without either your girlfriend, chocolates, alcohol, cigar, coffee or tea in moderation will be miserable. Those with preexisting conditions like diabetes, hypertension, asthma, emphysema, lupus etc. already know their limits and must stick to usual practice. But they also deserve their own indulgence while observing physical distancing. Warning: there are some vices that are not illegal but may be frowned upon by relatives and friends in normal climes. As this lockdown persists, isolation and boredom can cause deterioration of Mental health regardless of age. Nothing makes an old man happier than their close friends since the children get older and start their own families. Mothers are closer because children need them to babysit grandkids, as better company and listeners than fathers. It is an established fact that more men die of Covid-19 than women. Most young people are very kind, once they see a man or woman above the age of 50 years, they keep their distance so that they do not infect susceptible ones with covid-19 in case they are inadvertent carriers but maybe asymptomatic. Others run when they see foreigners or refuse to get close to those coming from overseas, including friends and relatives, Nevertheless, covid-19 has complicated relationships we take for granted. There are fear, physical and mental threats to the normal way of life. One of our indulgences, if it does not jeopardize health, may not be as bad as the threats of anxiety, depression, suicides and hopelessness. Well there is a difference between Physical and Social distancing. We can still stay in touch and reach out to one another through social media. We are allowed to exercise in the Park or go for a walk to stay in shape in order to boost and keep up the immune system while keeping physical distance. Relationships, exercise, tea or coffee is a regular part of life for most people. They are legal stimulants as good as vitamins like the rush for vitamins C and D. No wonder restaurants are open for takeouts. But lovers are difficult to let go. Unfortunately, most Mama-Put-E do not deliver. They have to adapt or go out of business. Delicacies like Jollof rice, Ewa Agoyi, Cha-ka-laka, Isiewu and Akara must be part of the indulgence. Some may call them comfort treats needed as cushions, at least one of which most of us get indulged in. Otherwise you are not human as an uncle once said. In places where people are forced to stay home; grocery stores, alcohol, cigarettes, tea and coffee shops are allowed to open. All doctors that told an old smoker to stop smoking are dead. Authorities must have realized that man cannot "love" by bread alone. There are other activities that must keep our spirit high. So, this older guy observes all protocols. He also has a young girlfriend that loves him very much. This isolation from everyone including his family has brought them even closer than ever. He does not have to worry since both tested negative for covid-19 as a condition for continuing their relationship. The worst situation one can find himself is to die in isolation from your family that cannot bury you if you were infected with covid-19. It is far better to die on top of the lady you love with heart attack than to be discovered dead in isolation by your family. The choice is yours and nobody to blame. Tell Baba God how you came. Even young people ranging with sexual testosterone, estrogen and progesterone do one thing most people have engaged in at some point but no one would admit it. A young man once confessed that he had five girlfriends: Aisha, Amahle, Ajua, Ngozi and Iyabo on his left hand. More importantly, it prevents abuse and sexual crimes during physical distancing and isolation within relatives. The days of calling others broke ass guys are on suspension. The market for the choice of only loaded guys is dry. Smart Ladies are better off grabbing the good characters that are available. Miscommunications leading to sexual abuse and physical distancing have put a damper on social dating market Mar 31, 2020 | Farouk Martins Aresa TheNigerianVoice.com |
There are certain class of ladies also suffering from lack of income. They have responsibilities like the rest of us. Donations and welfare are given in countries where they operate legally. What other choice do they have in African countries. |
Those who expect free access to good life they or their generation did not prepare will always wait at the end of the line to catch hell. When God distributed talents, those with less “helped” those with more utilized theirs or those with more “used” those with less. We must learn how to utilize what we loot and launder as talents and resources abroad to those God gave less. Use God-given talents to develop our home and demonstrate our accomplishments to the world in Africa. |
Glow Of Liberalism Freedom Democracy Hypocrisy Got Us Hooked We cannot doubt people of goodwill. If you ask an average African what is the definition of Civilization, he would tell you they belong to the exclusivity of liberal folks, that insist on freedom and democracy in the Western world of “civilized climes”. The hypocrisy has been exposed as the preachers of idealism and democracy lose to conservatives who would tweak democracy and do anything to remain in or grab power as in theocracy. Immigrants there got hooked on idealism since Hypocrites were preaching due process, the rule of law and order in Africa. The brutalities they display against their minorities, the weak and the poor with Emergency Power is no different to those used during Slave Trade to “restore” their version of Peace and Sanity to the World. If they use privilege of power as deadly force to quell protests against injustice at home, who are immigrants? When God distributed talents, those with less “helped” those with more utilized theirs or those with more “used” those with less. We must learn how to utilize what we loot and launder as talents and resources abroad to those God gave less. Use God-given talents to develop our home and demonstrate our accomplishments to the world in Africa. Democracy was convenient when they were in absolute majority. However, the equation changed as the number of minorities are becoming a threat to the power of the majority. The most motivating factor driving Western liberals in the world to join conservatives is Immigration. So, right wing parties that are supposed to be smaller in number are being elected in Europe and America with the coalition of other parties to form a government. Charity begins at home. Democracy was a charade to placate us but never intended to apply to those intolerant “civilizations” in the Western world. It worked fine as long as the majority is unthreatened in self-created nations. Democracy, freedom and liberalism that were used to conquer and fool Africans and Asians were not the product of popular votes to elect their Leader. They ensured that as a choice of Party and Electoral votes? On the other hand, immigrants from Africa, South America and Asia were flooding the Western borders looking for the promised Freedom and Rule of Law preached in their countries. Since Westerners had explored, baptized and forced Protectorate on them in order to steal their natural and human resources that fueled Western economies. When Slave Trade and riots became threats, they institutionalized color bar to divide the poor whites from native Indians, Asians and African free men in Europe and America to suppress their revolts. It was a master stroke because it’s been working ever since. Note that every continent traded one another within as slaves and serfs. The southern Europeans were colonized by Africans and it took a combination of Arabs to overcome the African sharpshooters in Basra, Iraq. But those are ancient history today. Nobody forced the Queen of Sheba or Mansa Kankan Musa to launder African gold beyond the Continent as a measure of goodwill while beneficiaries saw a good opportunity to trace, strike and seize fortune from the source. Our politicians have followed Mansa Musa. The big difference started in1619 Virginia, United States. By 1676, Nathaniel Bacon was able to recruit the serfs and African free men to suppress American Indians riot. Though opposed by Gov. William Beckley, both saw the opportunity to divide and rule people that united against exploitation of the poor. There was no white, black or yellow. Never saw themselves along skin color or differences as they mixed freely with one another . "Early colonial Virginia was very much a 'melting pot' of peoples, and before slavery hardened as a racial caste, white and black working-class people often lived and worked in close quarters and formed relationships and marriages. Some of these early multiracial families were ancestors of the later Melungeon.” In 1639/40 Virginia General Assembly barred Blacks from possessing firearms In 1642 Tax was put on Black women not English women In 1662 Virginia General Assembly decided that any child born by an enslaved woman was also a slave. The laws changed the world into colors and gave the poor whose skin color was closer to the oppressors some privileges over the rest of their fellow poor and oppressed. It has been working since then to preserve the privilege of the rich. The color lines spread around the world and everyone trample on the rights of the other to climb the color line. In Africa and Asia, they used what Nkrumah called Neo-colonization which is basically the same as Colonization but without Responsibility. Just as they divided poor whites and minorities in Europe and America, they divided Africans within. The Africans whose mentality and tastes were conditioned to Christianity, just as to Islam, were the civilized ones. The rest of other Africans were the non-believers that were good as dead. If you do not love yourself, who will love you? Africans complain that Whites and Asians discriminate against them to preserve their privilege in their native countries but Africans hate Africans more in Africans countries. They even allow the same Whites and Asians to discriminate against them at home: beg for Visas and Foreign Investments as African politicians and businessmen launder out two or three times more. It is called Self-hate! The Europeans woke up against German domination, the Chinese woke up against Japanese domination, even USSR dissolved since they woke up to Russian domination. But Africans beg for foreign domination as Investments and countries to escape to, in order to avoid their own demons at home. Agents open professional routes of escape. Africans must stop to being (copy-copy, follow-follow and) a shame to those that share our heritage in Diaspora. It is preposterous for Africans in Diaspora to blame the Blacks they met there as victims for their own predicament after your chiefs that sold them out, were also sold and you are absconding and selling yourselves out of where you could have built a better place for world Blacks to be proud of. Those of us famous for beating our chests as conspicuous spenders and consumers of vanities but with no substantive production exports or accomplishments at home, must stop consoling ourselves with our under-employed and wasted talents abroad. We collect statistics of those working “jejely” in hostile environments as the most educated and appreciated. You only expose them to more discrimination by dividing Diaspora Blacks into tribes. Don’t you know they are dwarfed by Asians doing better? Mar 13, 2020 | Farouk Martins Aresa https://www-thenigerianvoice-com. |
NEWS FEBRUARY 21, 2020 11-year-old girl gives birth in a bathtub. Now her father — an illegal alien who was once deported — her mother, and brother are under arrest. Disturbing allegations SARAH TAYLOR Authorities arrested the mother, father, and brother of an 11-year-old girl after she delivered a child in a bathtub at the family's St. Charles, Missouri, home. According to a BuzzFeed News report Friday, the unnamed girl's parents are facing charges of child endangerment. The girl's 17-year-old brother is being charged with incest, statutory rape, and statutory sodomy. What are the details? Police arrived at a hospital on Feb. 11 responding to a call about a child with an umbilical cord and placenta still attached. The child had a body temperature of 90 degrees, the outlet reported. An affidavit revealed that the young girl's parents — identified by TooFab as Francisco Javier Gonzalez-Lopez and Lesbia Cante — brought the baby to the hospital. Gonzalez-Lopez initially reported that the baby was his, and that a mistress he impregnated dropped the child off at his home. He later told investigators, however, that the child belonged to his 11-year-old daughter, and that his son — her brother — was the father of the newborn. Gonzalez-Lopez, according to charging documents, was identified as being an illegal immigrant who was previously deported from the United States. Throughout questioning, Gonzalez-Lopez and Cante insisted that they were unaware that their son raped their daughter or that she had fallen pregnant through assault. Upon questioning, the 17-year-old reportedly admitted that he had sex with his sister "about 100 times," the outlet said. The teen denied knowledge that his sister was pregnant, according to the outlet. What else? The state is planning to take custody of the child when it is well enough to leave the hospital. The girl's mother, father, and brother are all in jail at the time of this writing. The girl is said to be staying with relatives. TooFab reports that Cante — who pleaded not guilty Wednesday — was being held on a cash-only bond of $100,000. Gonzalez-Lopez is being held on a $10,000 bond, and their son is being held on a $25,000 bond. https://apnews.com/0e9e8d1f4dbed660cd4b82b3a685bd85 |

Abuja Is A No Man’s Land When Abuja was being planned, it was indicated that they were looking for a neutral place, unlike Lagos or Calabar that already belonged to ethnic groups. Every Nigerian would be welcomed and there would be no domination of one group by the other. Some were wondering if a virgin place still existed in Nigeria that can be called a no man’s land as we want. We did not know that they were going to displace some natives who would be glad to move from mud huts to Government reservations or slums. Many Nigerians who have been paying attention to the allocation of land in Abuja heard about politicians making more than one allocation to one another in the Obasanjo era. We may have to wait and see what is being allocated in Yar’Adua’s time. Babangida was the first head of State to move to Abuja, so some of the allocation started before that time. Buried in the allocation of land to the high and the mighty is the slum surrounding Abuja. Slowly but surely, we are going to hear more of it when it erupts in the face of politicians. We have heard about squatters that are trying to deface Abuja and the swift action of the planners who destroy the eyesore near their beautiful properties. We can’t blame them, it will lower the value of their properties and brings hoodlums too close for comfort. Has anyone heard about how much allocation were made to others, less prominent than late Senator Kuta son of mud hut settlers? If Nigeria has anything to learn from our past, it is that one day, the educated son and daughters will demand their share of the land owned by the forefathers. We all know that Abuja itself was created like Israel by cutting space out of existing states. But I am not sure that we are doing everything to make sure some of these prime land allocations are extended to many sons and daughters of its soil. The early settlers were the Gbagyi, Bassa, Gade, Gwadara, Koro, Ganagana, Beriberi and others. Before the ambulance chasers or lawyers start running around taking briefs as in Lagos land cases in court, one would think that our Government would anticipate trouble down the road and pre-empt any claim of injustice. Our attitude has always been to cross the river when we get there. Land is very important, not only in Nigeria but every where. Anyone familiar with Ikoyi and Victoria Island in Lagos of those days compare to what they are now may sympathize with them. In those days Ikoyi was designated as special Government Reservation Area for colonial civil servants and some crony Africans. But for the guts of Adelabu Adegoke who disturb their peace with gongon drummers waking him up in the morning, no crony reminded colonial masters that they do not belong. The people of Lagos are now trying to reclaim Ikoyi since it is no more an eminent domain. Most Nigerians could have thought that politicians sliced Abuja cake amongst themselves until El Rufai then came out with a bombshell that Igbo got more allocation than others. Yeah, sure, fool us again my brother. May be they split the size of a football field into hundred pieces. The fact is the politicians from North and South took care of themselves as the probe has revealed. Believe me, there are more allocations going on right now. We have to be careful so that these politicians do not knock our heads together as usual. When the Gbagyi owners who are the majority in Abuja come knocking for more share of their land, who are they going to go after? They should go for the throats of the politicians who are having field moments allocating to relatives. We can not rely on those potatoes allocations to different ethnic groups when the real juicy and meaty allocations go to who and who all over Nigeria. Why they were trying to divert attention away from themselves to different ethnic groups could possibly be to evade the wrath of the owners when their anger reaches a boiling point as Gbagyi were also displaced for Shiroro Dam. In fairness to the Government, some of us working at the Federal Secretariat in the 80s were offered flat allocations as incentive to move to Abuja. Some did and some never left Lagos. Looking at what Abuja has now become, on 20/20 insight, it may have been a mistake. However, a few of us still have not regretted it. Moreover, as you get older, you just want to stay put in a familiar place. Today, Abuja has become one of the most expensive cities in the world. Without rental income, it would be unaffordable for poor original settlers to even think about living there. If there is anything to learn from Jos Plateau area, Niger Delta area, Ife area and now Ajah in Lagos, families do not disappear into the thin air, whatever their past claim to the land .We do not have to wait until feud raises its ugly head to get a fire fighter. Of course we already have fire all over the place and our hands are full. One will think that with a population of 140 million, we can busily engage our too many idle politicians and civil servants. Oh, they are doing their best destroying slums springing up around Abuja. We understand why we have slums around major cities around the world. These slums and Nyanya labor camp should also be called service centers, without which the major cities may not survive. That is where all the cheap laborers come from. The cost of reaching the affluent areas if the laborers have to move far away to their jobs will eat all their pay. These are not wealthy suburban driving to the cities or taking luxury buses or go-trains. Even the wealthy ones are now groaning under the cost of traveling or the amount of petrol to fill their cars and generators. There is something more dangerous about Abuja though; the slums surrounding it are occupied not only by other Nigerians but by Gbagyi, Bassa, Gade, Gwadara, Ganagana, Koro and Beriberi owners of the center. The amount of money sunk into Abuja, the billions of naira and dollars flowing in the City of milk and honey have not spread to these slums. That is what Nigerians call suffer-head in the midst of plenty. Here we are asking the Government to divert more additional oil money to rebuild Niger Delta, this bobo is preaching for dormant slum militants around Abuja. Chinekeme! A fool and his money will part if he can’t walk and chew gum. How a man manages his family, business, and environment determines how money is used to manage a country. A man on government training all his life, who has stolen all his life, or sucked others dry, will not suddenly become a skilful manager. He will display deliberate indifference. After 500 years some Africans are beginning to wake up from slumber. Political awakening that may lead to sound economic decisions. |
The only thing Africans are capable of is how to demean, hate and fight one another. Cursed people? Those that think we do not earn enough, no matter what, to provide all the infrastructure we need in every city are basing the cost of these projects on international price in Western and Asian countries that sell their products and services to Africa at padded retail prices. Chinese may give us a discount, but it is based on what Americans and Europeans would sell for. Russia is a leader in Space and Nuclear Science, based on local prices. So are China, Japan and India with local expertise. United States spends more per capita on healthcare than other countries with universal health coverage. |
Buhari nor wan die if dem cancel ime visa nah. If say na you nko? jara:The Federal Government has ordered an investigation into the Friday invasion of the Federal High Court, Abuja, by the operatives of the Department of State Service, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, has said. The DSS, in their bid to rearrest the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the February 2019 general election, Omoyele Sowore, had invaded the court, during which the judge fled the scene. Malami spoke to reporters on the premises of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, after paying a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of the court, Justice John Tsoho. He evaded question on the reason for Sowore’s rearrest, which had drawn criticisms locally and internationally. Fielding questions from reporters, he said he did not visit the Chief Judge over Sowore’s case but to congratulate him on his confirmation by the Senate as the substantive Chief Judge of the Federal High Court. Asked if he was not appalled by the DSS’ conduct, Malami said, “Whatever affects the integrity of the court is a worrisome issue for us. “I can never be preemptive of an incident over which I was not a live witness to.” He added, “But one thing I am certain of is that the government has put in place mechanism for investigation of the reported incident. “So, I would not like to be preemptive in terms of a conclusion, one way or the other, without allowing the consummation and conclusion of the investigation process.” |
Did you mean Queen Bees, our politicians? What is your business if the Nigerian workers are happy? They have a godgiven roles assigned by the Queen Bee in their Ethnic group, Church, Mosque and social circles. As long as the Queen Bees are happy getting fat, the workers are just as happy: Worker bees are female but are not capable of reproducing. They feed the Queen and the males that give her all the sex she want, do all the work in the hive, and they control most of what goes on inside. Their jobs include housekeeping, feeding the queen, drones and larvae, collecting the pollen and nectar, and making the wax. Sowore status has been raised beyond that of prisoner of conscience. It is how they bestowed Nnamdi Kanu international status. Even in Nigeria, certain groups are the conscience of the majority. They have and will always be the conscience of most citizens. They have risen up as average Nigerians are scared to speak out. Unfortunately, there are instances they have paid dearly: in detention and sometimes with their lives. |
Simply put greed, ostentatious behavior and selfishness |
So What Expose African Business Men In Europe And Americas Many African billionaires on the Forbes List are sleeping with one eye open these days because of Allen Onyema of Air Peace transactions. The gang of Dangote, Adenuga, Tinubu,Innoson, Dantata brothers, Danjuma and many members of Panama Club whose names have not been published. So, they are nervous. They are not limited to Nigeria. Equatorial Guinea may be one of the prominent ones, but we have them in Kenya, South Africa and Ghana too. When they are caught abroad, they start blaming their village people. Only losers fight along ethnic lines for cash launderers and schadenfreude that thrive at the misfortune or failure of Africa by validating their success that gave them happiness at the expense of those in abject poverty. They are the kings on the hills everyone looks up to but never realize that their riches come from your subjugation. Africans enslaving Africans with the support of ethnic sympathy. Ethnic enablers of these Prodigal “Akotileta” continue to excuse their chicanery by claiming every business man worldwide do the same and Africans are discriminated against in the same foreign countries they love to launder money so much. If every businessman laundered money like Africans, America and European countries would be the face of world poverty. One must wonder if ethnic sympathizers cannot connect their champions to our abject poverty. When you destroy and loot your own country dry, you then want to run to their countries and do the same! They are not as stupid as ethnic sympathizers, they will target you as Africans, jail you, seize your loot and ban you from entering their countries again. It only makes sense that if allowed, you will turn their countries into the same jungle of abject poverty you come from. How many crooks do you know that are bent on paying any price, even jail time abroad to deplete all the foreign income of their countries just to get high for appearing on the Forbes List? We must look into the mirror today and see who are the enemies of Africa. Gold became our albatross attracting every stinging bees to our Continent century after the Queen of Sheba and Mansa Kanka Musa boasted to the world. It is not how much profit, loot or how we make it that matters at a certain point in life; but what we do with the gains or profit we cannot take to our graves. Africans cannot claim they have never been rich now or in the past. The consequence of their avarice pushes the whole Continent to the bottom as the poorest people on earth: an example of wasted opportunities. We used to be our brothers’ keepers. We abandoned - it takes a village to raise a child. In view of exploited enormous resources, we can no longer justifiable blame invited co-conspirators. Many have wondered why many rich African business men have not been able to pass on their skills to their children or expanded their business beyond the family house. The answer may not be far-fetched if we know how we copy American Investment Portfolio manager Robert Madoff, operation of Ponzi scheme. Like African money launderers, it was a pyramid without foundation. Madoff destroyed his family, disappointed those that invested money and trusted him, holding empty retirement nests; as Saraki’s Societe General. These scrooges led a Continent to poverty. Their businesses are decoy to export our products and services bought cheap by the same foreign countries. Here we are, crying that we only get a fraction of what our resources are sold for in retail markets all over the world. Foreign Co. pile their profit on wrappings, advertisement, packaging, middleclass jobs, transportation while the last cents are given to Africa where they got the real products from. Yet they claimed cocoa farmers and other workers live on less than $2.00 a day. This is even less than what they paid us back for our products and services. Since crude oil was exported out of Nigeria in the 80s, all the conditional agreement that was put into place if world price increased from $20.00 were never implemented as the price of oil went above $100.00 creating unbelievable windfall profit for oil companies with little crumbs to bribe their boys that kept quiet. Are we so naive or unscrupulous that individual Nigerians willingly conspired against their own Country with oil companies? However, what good is your gain or profit if it is not invested in Africa to multiply middleclass jobs for the benefit of Africans rather than guiding the financial interest of foreign shareholders that intentionally use you as tools of oppression to subjugate your own people. Africans main trading partners are not Africans but those overseas in countries that live on Africa exploitation. African business men need them as partners to launder their spoils into abject war against us. Africans business men turned national treasures and foreign income into winners take all. The winners call themselves first finders of loot. Finders are keepers while the rest of us are losers’ weepers. Indeed, many but not all so called declared or undeclared Billionaires are compulsive reverse Robinhood. They are closer to Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves without any conscience, calling on foreigners that our foreign reserves are open for looting: Open Sesame! What do they do with the money laundered? They first pay exorbitant fees to lawyers and accountants that help them hide blood money in legitimate banks, offshore companies in the Caribbean countries, buy humongous houses attracting high taxes for schools and roads they refused to build or maintain in their own countries, put in orders for exotic cars parked in houses where girlfriends and house-helps enjoy one another. Each time they jet out of Africa, they check their accounts with a smile of a job well done. South Africa is calling on Government to use private foreign lawyers to get back laundered money like Nigeria but the commission by outside lawyers alone to retrieve Abacha’s loot were paid to inside and outside lawyers. Companies hardly make profit in Africa for 60 years, unlike in their own countries where they provide middle-class jobs and pay taxes no matter how much tax break they get. Shell and Eni’s scandal-plagued oil deal alone deprived Nigeria of $6bn . Some estimated that about half a trillion to a trillion dollars have been looted through money laundering and other means from Africa. Yet, the same countries cry about their tax in foreign aid that force African countries to buy their products and services including bottled water. We have successful businesses before Independence and individuals whose basic local products exported might not bring in as much foreign profits. But they cannot compete today as local businesses with individuals who deplete the lion's share of our foreign reserves for doing nada. If these forex millionaires and billionaires do not get their ways, they threatened retrenchment of workers or pull out to other African countries they can exploit even more. We must wonder why foreigners grade free and fair market as the most suitable place to do business in Africa. To maximize profit for them or African countries? Indeed, Ghana Gold Mine was sold to foreign investors to generate profit, not for Ghana but Foreign Portfolio Investors. If you look at the way our natural resources in each African Country were "liberalized" into free and fair market for grabs for foreign Portfolio Investors, you cannot help but wonder what expertise an offshore empty shell company like Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) had to convert crude oil flared into gas energy that no African could negotiate with oil companies. Look, let us stop going at one another's throats because of Allen Onyema, Dangote, Otedola, Innoson and many other Nigerian business men whose Yash have not been exposed yet. They all have one thing in common, to deplete the money and resources in Nigeria and launder everything abroad. They do not care about us. They care more about making Forbes list of Billionaires. Please this is not between Igbo and Agonja. But then, some unscrupulous businessmen became the greediest ones depleting our foreign reserve. They are willing to import Junk, that is any junk, including toxic waste shipped to African countries from developed countries. They laid such a taunting example for the ordinary folks to follow. Everything and anything foreign became attractive, as if they do not have to be paid for with our earning from what we export. |
I must say that I have not read every post but find enough disgusting. This is why we do not have good schools in Nigeria. A Nigerian graduate that was lucky to get a job with foreign oil company even boast abroad that they prefer foreign graduates, which is true. This is why most Africans are lured out. The difference is that the first generation that schooled abroad could not wait to get back home after seeing through the deception and hypocrisy of the people they had admired and schools they glorified. They came back home and fough the hypocrites demanding Independence. Listen, that you went to Harvard or Oxford does not quarantee success. At the end of your program, the best companies will come to your schools to recruit. At the end of the recruitment, the only ones left without a job in business, law, medicine and engineering are minorities. Of course lucky token few will be recruited but watch how long they last with those companies. Disappointed black, Hispanic and foreign students have to use their own initiatives to hustle for jobs, start their own business selling the prestigious schools they attended. Many have to seek counseling because they cannot admit or believe it. Some of those come back to Africa lying to you and themselves. The ones you celebrate and beat your chest about, never tell you how they are kicked, disrespected and fired in spite of their success in their fields. Africans, when are you going to face the truth and realities and learn from your first generation that bitterly fought for political Independence which this generation is selling back as economic Dependence by trying to become foreign currency billionaires? It is ironic that when some African countries were getting most of their foreign income from Cocoa, they were better managers of their people. By the time some of the same African countries started making money from diamond, uranium, cobalt and oil; they started wars and their countries and people got poorer. Many of the institutions built with Cocoa money are languishing for lack of nurturing, maintenance and funding. What is obvious is that the more money African countries make, the poorer our corrupt politicians make the masses. |
Why The Rich Live Longer With Less Kids As Poor Multiply & Die Early The question most people do not want to ask or answer: who is going to feed or care for the poor population explosion in Africa? Rich countries employ a great deal of research in sciences to prevent, cure diseases and live longer. Such as drugs that prolong life; CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) or gene reorientation and therapy; feeding on laboratory meat without killing animals; Beyond Meat or genetically modified agricultural grains to increase production of wheat, rice, vegetables etc. Africa account for 15% of the global population but carry 25% of the disease burden. Though African genes are more diverse, only 2% of genetic materials used for pharmaceutical research come from Africa while others make up the rest because most of the research is outside Africa. We are not competing with the best of our potential that we are capable of and can do better. We have what it takes in talents, blessed with fertile arable land and forest begging for exploration and discoveries. But we lack the discipline to pursue more productive values. Indeed, there are some discoveries going on right now all over the Continent but not enough to meet our needs compared to the rest of the world or take care of our population that is increasing while the rest of the world exert birth control and live longer. If you want to see the future of a people, look at how well they take care of all children, not just their own. How we educate and train our children cannot be overemphasized. Idle hands are susceptible to mischievous and degenerative behaviors. Good schools are not just for the rich and powerful; it is where poor children are turned into productive adults that may save the rest of Africa in Africa. God gave everyone of us a role and talent to explore. Charles Ofori Antipem in Ghana innovated Science Set textbook small enough to fit on a student’s desk and capable of over 26 experiments. It got the interests and excited Ghanaian school children. Professor Kelly Chibale, Director and founder of Drug Discovery and Development at the University of Cape Town , South Africa is customizing drugs to the needs of Africans. Abasi Ene-Obong, the founder of 54gene in Nigeria goal is to build the first and largest biobank of African DNA genetic pool for drug research in Africa. Wow, “O Pataricious”! Unfortunately, African countries funding for both agricultural research and biomedical cure for human diseases have been meagre and less productive. Since the average reason Africans want to be rich is to be able to acquire more wives, children and import vanities. We cannot expect others whose dedication is beyond money to take care of us. Indeed, the number of Africans at home or in Diaspora participating in these research are sparse. The likes of Dangote and Mo Ibrahim are not enough to complement the humanitarian support of Bill Gates, Rockefeller Foundation or Albright in research and scholarships for Africans in Africa. Indeed, we have more looters of Africa’s rich resources from Equatorial Guinea to Nigeria that have never appeared on the Forbes list of Billionaires but display personal planes, exotic automobiles, Bullion Van and wake up the dead ostentatiously. Colo-mentality directed our consciousness to the pursuit of money, refocused our wants to import not Africa’s goodwill. While the Asians are increasingly visible in technological research, discovery and business, there are only few Africans in those fields. Yet, those few that are barely tolerated in foreign lands, are used for chest beating and celebrations in a few African countries. These are Africans that have to kiss up, are disrespected but succeed against all odds. If they are so good, as often told, why are they abroad? Otherwise their countries would not be ruled by renegade politicians. If we can remember how Nkrumah in Ghana and Awolowo in Nigeria spent cocoa money on education compared to how the following leaders spend oil money, we have to feel remorse without feeling sorry for ourselves. We must pick up the pieces from where we fell off the cliff! We have to stop looking into the mirror hoping we would suddenly turn into their image. We can improve on their technologies, the way they improve on Lower and Upper Egypt (Sudan). Unfortunately, Africa’s economic colonization is now a competition between the Chinese or Asians and the Western worlds. The pitiable meagre amount of returns we get from the End products of Cocoa today, has not taught us any lesson. The same is true of all the mineral resources Eastern and Western world are competing for in Africa. How long can we keep up selling our products for pennies while buying backs plastics in US dollars, Euro, Pounds and Yen? Education still remains one of the greatest determinants of life expectancy. The more informed we are, the better our health habits. It does not have to be in the sciences alone since we tend to read more and be broad minded on all subjects as we acquire more knowledge. Knowledge also steer us away from bad and expensive habits of smoking, drinking and drugs that are injurious to our health. It might stop us from just being consumers and producers of nothing! Most Africans have no control over their locations or environment. Actually, many live in areas not suitable for health because of cheaper rent and travel many miles to get to work. So when they escape polluted areas during the day, they go back home at night. By the time they get home, they are too exhausted to try any exercise to keep the body in shape. Yet, the right exercise and good diet are important for good health and longer life. We are still fighting for economic independence after 60 years and wondering which technology to buy at a cost beyond our means from the Western and Eastern powers to destroy or boast to one another; while we leave our children brains untapped. Even worse, is the inability to copy, steal, pirate or improve technology like the Greeks and Romans did from Sudan, Egypt and Zimbabwe, as the Europeans stole from Greeks. Just as the Americans, Japanese, Chinese or Indians stole technologies from Europeans. CANCER SCIENTISTS HAVE IGNORED AFRICAN DNA IN THE SEARCH FOR CURES By Jessica Wapner On 7/18/18 at 9:01 AM EDT FE_Cancer_Genome_01 When a small group of modern humans left Africa 100,000 years ago, they left behind a rich genetic diversity. Charles Rotimi believes that researchers need to capture it, for the benefit of Africans and everyone else. JOSHUA COGAN FOR NEWSWEEK HEALTH CANCER AFRICA GENETIC RESEARCH GENOME Charles Rotimi first realized the future was passing him by around 2005. The Human Genome Project had recently finished spelling out an entire set of human DNA. Following that breakthrough, scientists in six countries across the globe had begun collecting blood samples to find genes responsible for various conditions, including serious diseases, which could lead to treatments. And Rotimi, who was leading that collection effort in Africa, had the sick feeling that history was repeating itself. |
Kelly Chibale: Leading the way in African drug discovery H3D director is overcoming sceptics to take region’s innovation efforts seriously Kelly Chibale, professor of organic chemistry at the University of Cape Town ‘As an African I cannot demand respect, I have to earn it. Not just by what I say, but also by my actions,’ says Mr Chibale March 10, 2019 5:00 am by David Pilling The rag in Kelly Chibale’s rags-to-riches story is the lit one he used to put into a paraffin-filled tub so that he could study at night. Brought up amid violence and squalor in the Zambian copper belt settlement of Kabulanda — whose name, he says, literally denotes “sadness” — Mr Chibale has fashioned a successful career from a tough start. https://www.ft.com/content/5541440c-38ff-11e9-b856-5404d3811663 |
Nobel Prize Overdue For Africans In Pharmaceutical Drugs One of the richest markets in the world is in pharmaceutical companies. Many of them risked billions on research, no doubt. At the same time, most come to rediscover anti bacteria, fungal and other drugs that may be lacking standard dosage or purity in Africa. Medical sciences professors and children of Babalawo are well versed in the use of these drugs from their parents. But most would not publish them in the Science or Medical Journals for fear of losing their patent rights or proprietorships to the West. Well, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed was just awarded a Nobel Peace Prize which we celebrated. It was in his pursuit of Peace within and around the neighboring countries. Look, no matter where you are, it is a relief to get some good news in view of all these manmade calamities in Africa. Indeed, the intention of Mo Ibrahim Foundation is to promote good Governance and encourage new young leaders in Africa. So, what is the beef of this writer? They ignore our unique assets from pharmaceutical to cultural uniqueness still imbued in some Diaspora Africans, yet unbranded for popular acceptance. We cannot wait for recognition within and outside Africa in Sciences we taught the rest of the world, especially in pharmaceutical up to the present. Selfishness or branding aside, Africans are just as intelligent and dutiful as many folks in the world. There are some well accomplished African Motivational Speakers making rounds in Western universities about unrecognized achievements of many African countries including Ethiopia, Rwanda and Ghana as some of the fastest growing economies in the world. One of them labelled the “success” as half full or half empty jar. In contradiction, she showed slides of how the map of abject Poverty moved away from Asia to Africa. Africans do not be fooled. We have been flattered too many times and we believe those calling us “Emerging Economy”, “Best Country For Investment”, “Free Trade” and “The Fastest Growing Economy”. Western countries are just looking for countries where they could get maximum returns as Foreign Portfolio Investors. The reason we have the highest interest rate in the world is to kill and discourage local businesses trying to survive and germinate while foreigners get highest returns on short term investments. Most of these speakers are just projecting Western images on Africa. They talk about most African countries with scattered villages where one would think he is in Western heaven like patches of green grass in the desert. Nigerians, more than other Africans would beat their chest bloody on individual achievements except a few in Nigeria lately. Farouk Martins Aresa https://m.thenigerianvoice.com/news/282434/nobel-prize-overdue-for-africans-in-pharmaceutical-drugs.html These scattered Villages in Africa, also called gated communities have infrastructure and humongous houses as good, if not better than those in Europe and the Americas. As long as you have money, you can live in these villages and think you are in Paradise. The only problem is that on your way to and out of these villages, realities would be staring at you: bad roads, shanty towns, hustlers and thugs waiting to be nice to you. You can even beat some of these poverty-stricken areas by getting adequate security and well armored Sport Utility Vehicles locally made by Proforce and Innoson. Better still, some of the cities have helicopter services to and from the airports. If you need to go to parties and show off with US “dollar rain” in Nigeria, you can hire real Police Force to protect you while you litter the floor with American dollars. Nobody is allowed to sweep the dollar rain until all videos for social media are completed. Therefore, these so called African Motivational Speakers do have a point. There are rich people and rich neighborhoods in Africa. It will be too selective to see foreigners taking pictures of only shanty communities or ghettoes as one of the Speakers complained. Haba, there are Africans living better than most people in Europe and Americas! Similarly, there are many corrupt people everywhere in the world, not only in Africa. Actually, one governor (wey nor get shame sef) even emphasized that corruption is not an African word. Those of us labelling African politicians as floating in corruption may be jealous because, given the same opportunities, we would be more corrupt than these politicians we criticize daily. So, Ai beg, make una go sidon jor! Please note, not all Africans are perversely corrupt or got rich on oil blogs. There used to be a time that no African would dare steal money in his local area out of shame and repercussions on the family. Today any allocation for: workers’ salaries, a village, town and state are not safe in Nigeria. It has become a game of who has first access. When we are talking of looting 100% of Billions allocation, no looter dares it, except in Nigeria! It is true that many politicians around the world are corrupt and would do anything once they obtain power, even without majority votes. They can even suspend the Parliament as Boris Johnson did in Britain obtaining the Queen’s blessings; and he almost got away with it until the Court overruled. If that happened in an African country, we would see laughter, jesters and folks that were bred in democracy calling Africans uncivilized. They dictate our economy and will continue to do so until we go cold turkey on foreign goods and services especially their plastic. They lured us into Structural Adjustment and later apologized because they did not take sociocultural values into consideration. Yet, they came in a different way, asking for Devaluations that everyone knew we can never recover from. We must learn how to make Intra-Africa Trade the rule of the new day. When was the last time you heard about “it takes a village to raise a child” or “Africans are our brothers’ keepers”? While we have “Esusu” means of monthly contribution to expand and modernize, we adopted small loans practice of Asia and “Trader Moni” we know many people will not pay back. Everyone wants money from the government for his inventions that should be encouraged by “Esusu”. Moneybags could sponsor most. Intra-African Trade have problems of its own as demonstrated by Nigeria closing its borders to protect it from banned imported goods but smuggled inside by neighboring countries. No country should import more goods than it needs from the same foreign countries we are running from, for sale in other African countries to defeat their efforts to encourage local production. It is not Intra-African Trade but sabotage pure and simple! Unfortunately, genuine goods and services produced in neighboring countries would suffer as collateral damage until lessons are learned and complications of intra Africa Trade sorted out. African countries need one another before we can wean out of the dependency on overseas unfair and exploitative trade practices. While we indulged and love foreign goods, African goods and services are yet to penetrate world trade markets. If there is any lesson other Africans can learn from Nigeria, it is that money no matter how much, can never make a country rich as long as there are Vultures as saboteur couriers for foreign partners holding their noses from the stench. Oil income became a curse for foreign consumption, acrimonies and loss of morale fiber in our communities. Many without access to oil money turned to other crimes to keep up with Sule, Tunde and Chukwu. |
