Afam think deep before you conclude. Buhari has not taken off. I feel bad that Igbos refused to demand for federal presence under Jonathan but have refused to allow Buhari start off smoothly. Jonathan ruled Nigeria at the peak of oil boom until we had this crisis but nothing tangible can be pointed out. Let us give Buhari time.
I also agree that 6months is too early to start shouting!

The East is not the only place that is suffering and if anyone is to blame, it is Jonathan!
He had more than five good years to make changes.... even if it is just in the East alone!
But he recklessly squandered the goodwill we all gave him in 2009!

If we must criticize Buhari, at least let us give him HALF of that length of time.....
Only then will our criticism not be viewed as being borne out of hatred, bitterness, pettiness and silliness ... but based on his score-card.

The good thing about Democracy is that "Elections" is an opportunity to boot out any Government that fails the people......... hence the need for all of us to support the use of a fool-proof PVC and Card reader combo.

The less they can rig elections, the more we can make our voices heard and dictate the tune of our future.

Look .... Let me tell you something..... Am an igbo man and a proud one too.... If you have ever lost a family in the hands of the north Nigeria just because a TV series in the Europe ... personally I don't think I have issues with the Yoruba people... They are just fellows who want to be happy and enjoy while the party last besides during my masters degree program I lived with a Yoruba guy in Moscow....the guy was a wonderful guy.

I can't forget seeing a brother burn to death in a church in the north.... Thank god I survived ....i can never forgive any northerner for making me lonely with no brothers ....so if you have witnessed the rot of the north you not be foolish enough to write this.

You said most pple who agitates for Biafra are broke people.....l lol.... living in Texas don't make you a rich guy .... 70% Nigerians in the US eat from hand to mouth .... You know is the truth and for crying out loud you are a broke dude living in one of subs over there, I have been to the US at least 15x....

Personally I do not like Nnamdi Kalu because i really do not like his style but I really support Biafra though in a different form... Despite the fact that I have properties in Abuja and Lagos.... I still do support Biafra 100%

Finally you forgot that California actually wanted an out of the US.... Not just Cali but two others....

Next time if you don't know what to write.. Don't write
I feel you...afterall, we are all HUMAN! We feel pain...especially "undeserved pain".
I have lost people in senseless circumstances like that and l know how it feels.

My prayer for people like you is that God will heal your pain! No human, no amount of retribution or war can heal you pain!
Even if the perpetrators are brought before you and you are asked to cut-off their head, (ISIL-Style), it still wont heal your pain, it can only debase you down to their level...

If Christ can forgive those that he came to save, yet the same people nailed him to a Cross, spat on his face and crucified him......is there any lesson for us to draw from there.... or do we just read those scriptures and pay our tithe, then forget about them?

Having said that, do you think your "reaction" si being conditioned by what you feel (your emotions) ..or your brains/heart (logic)?
If you read my last post, l showed how "break-up" will never solve the problems we feel.

Remember, there are people within this same Biafra, who feel the way you feel, towards BIAFRANS like themselves.
Someone from Umuileri still feel aggrieves at another from Aguileri because they wiped out his family, in the civil war that occured between them recently!

Such person will still be within Biafra and if he chooses to seek vengeance based on his "pain", l bet it will just be a repetition of the "Nigerian Problem", from a "Biafran perspective"!

Nigerians killing Nigerians, is no different from Yorubas killing Yorubas (within Yorubaland) as in Mdakeke Vs. Ife or Ibos killing Ibos (within Ibo land) as described above, or Hausa killing Hausa (within Hausaland) as we have been seeing in Boko Haram.

Bottom line is: We must "let-go" of the past!
But it is also important for the "future", that "all actors behave properly" ...going forward.
It is important that there is JUSTICE for everyone...irrespective of tribe.
In this regard, the current president has a big job to do.
He has to demonstrate that he is first a Nigerian, before being a Hausa man...and other must follow suit.

We Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religion and political affiliation must also be ready to show our Patriotism because it takes "two hands to wash each other, for the hand to be properly clean".
In this regard, all this treasonous agitations should stop while we all focus on re-building trust and the nation a s a whole.

Once again, my sympathies towards your pain. Only God can heal people like you.

BTW: California , Texas and some others wanted out for the last 100yrs or so but have refrained from taking-up arms against the state! Why is that? The also have never worked against the interest of their country but are always Americans FIRST and would defend American interest anywhere in the world. Does that ring a bell?

okwadatigbogal:
I pray this Biafra never sees the light of day! Nonsense! What exactly are u idiots agitating forhuh? Almost all the ppl who want this Biafra are the broke asses from the east who are jealous of their fellow easterners success in other lands, so they want to truncate it by force. Almost all of them have never visited outside igboland and they sit down to talk nonsense, claiming injustice! How exactly do u want to fight and win this war?? Hehehe... u ppl are busy agitating and fighting in igboland when d so called war should be fought in other lands. How exactly do u want to control the so called war?? On which front do u want to fight? If u have balls..advance into other lands and see what will happen. In d civil war of the 1960s, the war was better controlled because migration wasnt that much, but as at today, controlling such a war will be very difficult because of heavy migration. Infact Igbos have the highest emigration rate in Nigeria. So if war breaks out, we will have d largest.casualty and we will definitely lose. We are not ready for any stupid war yet! We have no functioning seaport, no serious airport and other social anemities that will make it easier for us to wage war. A referendum will work better than dis war of a thing..because we will surely lose if war breaks out. You cannot fight war on many fronts and Igbos are scattered all over the place. Another issue is this unnecessary hatred between igbos and yorubas. What exactly is the cause of the hate?? I am igbo and d truth must be said. When u come to another man's land have some respect and regard for them. Why will u be claiming lagos is not yoruba land?? It is very bad and I cant blame yorubas for disliking igbos because of dis! Why dont u go and claim Kano?? because u know northerners don't take rubbish and they won't hesitate to kill u if u make such claim! Yorubas are naturally a tolerant ppl so making such claims has resulted to unnecessary bad blood. Besides..what's with all d crowning of eze ndigbo in every community?? Of what use are these useless traditional institutions in every single town outside Igboland?? There lies d problem of we Igbos! They cannot rule themselves and they hate being ruled! Biafra will be a disaster because the typical Imo man will never allow an anambra person rule over him and vice versa.the smaller states/tribes in d so-called biafra will suffer worse, because some igbo groups feel to big and they will never allow smaller groups or states lord over them. Igbos dont love themselvs at all...thats why u still hear stuff like osu, nwa nsukka, nwa abakaliki, and other derogatory comments we direct at each other. Besides Texas In the USA, is almost the size of the whole Nigeria! And d USA has over 50 something states and every one of them is working fine! America is the most diverse Nation on earth..yet they are doing really fine! So why cant Nigeria do fine?? I think the problem is the curse on the black man. Believe me...even if Nigeria is divided into local governments, there will still be ccontrovery and underdevelopment. We all in Nigeria and Africa need a change In mentality. We need to love ourselves more and look out for d greater good of all and not just ourselves and our families. Lastly, I pity any one that will come and cuss me out.. Just know that u are cussing ur stupid self. If ure not mature, pls dont respond to me. Ive got no time. And yes I am Igbo...and A proud one at that!
On a more serious note..... l said "serious" because l for one like "ribbing" these Ibo boys for a kick!
Its all "fair-play" as long as it is limited to Nairaland.

Now, the "serious part"....as in real life:

The problem we have in Nigeria stems from unbridled corruption.

Think about it: if the average Ibo man in Anambara or Imo or Onitsha has 24/7 power supply, good education, abundant food and an enabling environment (good roads, good amenities like Hospital, e.t.c), do you think he would worry about "BIAFRA" ro what happened in 1967?

How many times have you seen Ibos who are doing very well in real life shouting about Biafra?

I checked the protest pictures and IPOB/MASSOB membership and l did not see the likes of Jim Ovia, any Igbo Governor, Kachukwu the M.D of NNPC and many other Ibos who have made a success of their life! Why is that? Are they less of "Biafrans" or what?

Thus, it is easy to infer that these agitations are a result of poverty, ignorance and deprivation!

Let it be known that there are Huasas who also protest and shout marginalisation just as there are Yorubas who have the same grouse!
Not long ago, the South-South also had an even more serious agitation which was partly resolved but not done peoperly as they still lack a lot of things they should have.

In essence, the dissatisfaction is all over the country, irrespective of region though, it seems it is the Ibo that think the ONLY SOLUTION is to break-up the country.

We might then ask: What is the cause of the dissatisfaction arising from Poverty, Ignorance and deprivation?

The answer is simple: CORRUPTION!

Nigeria is rich enough for every Nigerian to live well above poverty, for us to have good roads, good hospitals, near-full employment that pays good wages, good schools, e.t.c .... but we cannot have these things for the simple reason that a few "privileged Politicians and Civil Servants" have LOOTED THE MONEY meant for these things.

These looters are in every tribe, every religion, every local govt, every state, both male and female thus, even if you break this country into 592 local govt.. and make each one a country of its own, you will still have an abundance of these looters within each country .... and the story will still be the same! grin grin

Is anyone reasoning with me?

So, in such scenario, what would you do?
Lets say we break this country into a manageable "36 countries" from each state!
how would each of these 36 countries survive and overcome ist fair share of the LOOTERS that make life miserable for every one?
I bet the answer will lie somewhere along "Zero tolerance" for corruption, stiffer penalties for Looters and everyone coming together (within that 1/36 Country) to fight the war on corruption.

If we agree with the above, this takes me back to the highlighted part of your post, above:
WHY CANT WE DO SO IN NIGERIA? ...if we can do it in a small 1/36 country? undecided

I say "Yes, We can".
But we have challenges of "tribalism and Religion".

Mind you, even if Biafra breaks off tomorrow, that tribalism will "breakout" with it as the Imolite will be tribalistic against the Abia man while the Osu and Ngwa this and that will define "truth and support"! grin

The Ife man will be tribalistic towards the Ibadan man while the seemingly cohesive Kanuri man will be tribalistic towards the Fulani man!
Everything will just be a microcosm of the "big mess" we have in Nigeria today.

I dont even want to go the way of religion!. You know how that one makes intelligent people behave like animals! undecided

So, from the above, you will agree with me, with some intelligent forecast, that "SECEDING" WILL NOT SOLVE OUR PROBLEM!
I hope all Biafrans, no matter how bitter you are will reason on this first, before allowing hatred and bitterness to becloud their judgement.

What then is the solution?
*First, l and everyone MUST agree with anyone ...and will invite anyone on-board (Ibo, Yoluba, Hausa, Efik, Ibibio, Ijaw, just name it) who is "ready to do battle against corruption". .... is MY FRIEND, MY BROTHER and MY BLOOD!

*Next, we agree and decide that its a fight to the death with corruption and those who benefit from it.
*We agree that the Looters are many, everywhere, powerful and have amassed enough wealth to FIGHT BACk
*That one of their tools is to DIVIDE US, using styles like "TRIBE (They are arresting only looters from my tribe), PARTY affiliations (They are arresting looters only from the Party l support), RELIGIOUS sentiments (They are arresting only Christian or Muslim looters)... so they can CONQUER US.

*That we will resist such "divisions" and fight the looters as one
*That we dont have the capacity to fight all of them at once, we therefore have to start from "somewhere and someone".... and we will support our "LEADER" from whichever person or place he starts from.

*That we show enough faith and believe with any one we chose to lead us in the fight against corruption.

*That the ONLY other ALTERNATIVE we have is to IMPLODE GO TO WAR, DESTROY OURSELVES AND BE BACK TO SQUARE ONE.... while we continue to wallow in poverty, from one generation to the next, while being a disgrace to the Black man, world over.

Now, that is the serious part!.

I will now go back to the "un-serious part"... which is what Nairaland is all about
. grin grin

Shymm3x:
Ha! I see you have stopped talking about clash of interests, which is the primary reason why Nigeria is an utter failure.
...........

Sir, the truth is that: corruption, nepotism, bad leadership et al are symptoms of the structure of the country and having a big government where everything is centralised. Take nepotism for example - it's intertwined with competitive environments and human nature cos we're all subconsciously partial to those we see as family, no matter how folks may try to live in denial. So how would you be able to rid the polity off nepotism, in such a competitive country like Nigeria, where the three headed-monsters (Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa/Fulani) are trying to protect their respective interests? And if curbing nepotism is a pipe-dream, how would you be able to solve the problem of bad leadership and corruption which are offspring of nepotism?

Furthermore, when trying to ascertain if something is either feasible or not, it's always good to do a proper feasibility study. And once you take time out to do a proper feasibility of study about Nigeria and human behavioural patterns vis-a-vis countries that're functioning in other climes. You'd see that it'll be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for Nigeria to function properly. Honesty of purpose is very difficult there are interests to be protected within a structure. For example: we all saw how Buhari got elected with a pledge of equity/equality and honesty of purpose. However, what did he do when he got there? - he and his Northern cabal made sure the executive, legislative, and judiciary are in control of the North. That's how you checkmate folks and secure ya interests. Regional government and true federalism out of the window, with just one move - and the Northern interest was protected by that move.

I honestly can't answer Biafran questions for Igbos - they'll have to answer that.
You are very good at putting words into my mouth! grin grin
*I never said our problems were due to "clash of interest"..... that was your own interpretation!
*I never said Nepotism is a "symptoms of the structure of the country and having a big government" .... again, that was your interpretation!
All l said was that Nepotism is "one of the problems" we have in the country, like corruption, e.t.c. These problems occur in homogenous countries as well.
*I dont want to discuss Buhari and whathe has achieved or not achieved in the last 5months of being President, It will go on for the next one week grin grin

Finally, you have been speaking for the Ibos and trying to defend their secessionist agenda for the last few pages of this thread but all of a sudden, you decided you can NO LONGER speak for them ..... because we both know the answer to that question l asked you..... and you dont want to admit it! undecided undecided

This Biafra agitation is PRIMARILY BORNE out of SELFISHNESS and GREED for the Niger Delta Oil.

All other reasons are "excuses'and therefore manageable.

My final position still remains that :
1) They can feck-off as long as they are willing to keep their hands on their five "core Ibo states.

or

2.) They can reasonably and intelligently, without recourse to aggressive, blackmailing techniques which never works, "seek audience on how to improve their lot within Nigeria", which as we all know, is primarily due to their lack of foresight (just look at their "voting pattern" in the last election)

Nuff said.

Thansk for your time, always enjoy discussing with ya.

Look, the European countries we defeated will continue developing the players they brought to this U-17 Tournament that Nigeria just won while many of the Golden Eaglets who have triumphed tonight will be forgotten by March 2016. We need to start doing things in a visionary manner in Nigeria. We need a very good Foreign Technical Adviser/Coach. Someone like Clemens Westerhof who will come in and start building a Super Eagles Squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. We have 7 years to before the 2022 World Cup and 7 years is enough to build a very strong team that get us into the Semi Finals of Qatar 2022 Senior World Cup. Sunday Oliseh will only do his best but we need a developmental coach from Germany or Holland. From 2010, we have been producing a lot of players below the age of 20 years old. By 2022, we should not see the likes of Odion Ighalo, Mikel and Ideye Brown in the Super Eagles Squad. Do you understand what I am saying?
Thank you!
You said well but why must it always be a FOREIGN technical adviser?

How are the Youths supposed to "take over" the mantle of leadership, if they still think like this?

Our problem is not lack of talent or competence.....as we have seen many times.

Our problem is basically CORRUPTION,... in the NFF, Ministry of Sports and other relevant bodies.

We've always told you the awusa, foolanis and yorubas destroyed nigeria, they should fix their Oduarewastan. 21 biggest looters are all from these regions. Biafran is far bigger than what you think. There will be no nigerian elections anywhere in Biafraland in 2019. you've not seen anything yet.

Seems you're just born? people that brought you the modest government you're enjoying today that you said they've not produced any leader of note? where were your fathers when zik was going around negotiating your independence from your slave masters? the region that produced first both civilian president and military head of state? one thing is certain, Igbos are too republic to be in this uncivilized entity called Nigeria.
So it was ONLY ZIK that negotiated Nigeria's Independence?

Awo was not part of it? The Sarduanna of Sokoto was not part of it, right?

Perhaps, I got lost in semantics - so I take that back. However, if you believe "it's not functioning properly as it should" cos of corruption, malpractices, divergent interests (I added this from what you posited in this rebuttal about Yorubas being "to develop at our own pace.....without being bogged down by those who don't want to "develop" or had other things on their mind or as their priority"wink etc...why do you think these problems exist? Take for example, the case of divergent interests, which is the primary reason why Nigeria isn't functioning. Is it ever going to be possible to align these interests due to how different the people are culturally, traditionally, and sociologically?

Once you examine this critically, you'd see that, saying ""it's not functioning properly as it should" while giving excuses, without examining the primary reason why it isn't - is more of a message of hope than a pragmatic approach. The reality is that the country will never be able to function properly cos when interests don't align, it's always impossible to get things done. That's the story of Nigeria.

Yes, the Yorubas were able to progress/develop exceedingly in the first republic and were on their way to destroying the stigma about black Africa and governance - before the progress was truncated by the coup and everything that happened subsequently. You'd agree with me (like you alluded to in ya post) that the only reason why this happened is cos they were able to pursue their own interests and execute effectively, within a structure that allowed that - without much interference from the rest. I'd even say the first republic was more of a pseudo-confederation (less autonomy) than regional government, based on the structure the UK left behind cos the regions did have some form of autonomy and were able to do a lot of things - without the centre.

However, is such an arrangement feasible in today's Nigeria, where so much powers have been arrogated to a section of the country, without clamouring for secession? Do you think those who enjoy undue advantage over the rest of the country would give it up on a platter, without a fight?
I mentioned some of the reasons it is "not functioning properly" as it should ....but it will take a whole page to do justice to the reasons, one after another. We both know such reasons and we both have mentioned some of them - Corruption, Nepotism, bad leadership, e.t.c

Is such arraingement feasible?
It is feasible...very feasible, if we all approach issues with 'Honesty of purpose'!
if some people ar eno more interested in their own selfish interest at the detriment of the whole country
if some are still not too embittered and lurking in the shadows, for their "pound of flesh"! grin
If some are not so consumed with "hatred" for their fellow Nigerians, that whatever we say, is not even examined but condemned from the onset
It is possible, if we all approach issues with the mindset of "making it better".... than destroying it !
It is possible if GREED is not the primary motivating factor of some.

I asked a Question which l want you to respond to:

Will the Ibos agree to secede with just their five "core Ibo states" and leave the Oil-rich South-South out of the equation?

This question is at the core of everyonenot taking them seriously! Even a country like Britain is laughing at their effrontery... in 2015!

You know, when Scotland wanted to do a "peaceful secession", Britain made it very clear to them "what and what" they can not go along with, including membership of the E.U and desisting from using the British Pounds! grin
When they saw the "real picture", l guess no one needed to persuade them to stay!
undecided undecided

But if the Scots were ibos, they would insist on eating their cake....and having it. Such is their nature.

BTW: You did not get lost in semantics, I know you are not just well educated, you are highly intelligent so l am not fooled by that! grin grin
You know we were saying two different things! grin

In summary, l think these Ibos, if they are honest, peaceful, purged of their arrogance, bitterness, hatred, tribalism and other vices, can be accommodated in a "more encouraging manner" which addresses their grievances, most of which by the way, are self-inflicted, such that they get a fairer share of the polity without a "greed-induced" break-up of the nation.
The alternative is for them to agree to form their "Bafraud" based on their "five Ibo states" ONLY.

Thanks for your response.

If Biafra secedes, are you expecting a Military dictatorship or you would want an election. Man is selfish in Nature and the first elected president of Biafra will definately be Igbo and you dont have the votes to stop it. Then they will consolidate in their hold and Nigerdeltans will start a new uprising.

Besides, Effiong was President for 4 days because Ojukwu fled. There is no Biafra without Igbo.

You are making my points for me, the Yoruba confuse their cowardice for quiet resolution but cannot point to any benefits of the years of suffering and smiling grin
You can always think that you have ruled for many years since independence but the poverty in your lands is alarming. Apart from a few multi billionaires the rest of your youths are wasting under the various long bridges robbing every one or engaging in other illegal activity. The approach of the Yoruba is to blame for the hole the country found itself due to its stupid way of remaining aloof in the face of gross incompetence in handling the affairs of this ccountry

Do you now see where we differ? There is cowardice in the genes of every Yoruba, including you.
Do l need to remind you that we have produced the Commander-in-Chief of this country so many time that l lost count.... as a "benefit" of our "mental capacity to resolve issues using brain power".... as opposed to those suicidal agitators who boast they will bring Nigeria to its knees but got whipped like Babies so much so they still suffer the consequence till today?
