Shymm3x:
Thanks, Sir.

You asserted that "Nigeria is a country ... by geographical definition" a la Awolowo cos it's recognised by the UN - fair enough. However, you also agreed that it can't function properly as a country. And that's an oxymoron and it shows that the existence of Nigeria as a country contradicts what a proper country should be. So, if that's the case, what's the point of keep such a country together - to the detriment of the millions of folks living within the borders of that geographical location? The folks whose rights to quality standard of living, good life, quality education etc.. are being denied by the continuous existence of a "geographical definition" that can't and will never function properly, like a normal country should? Why should we continue to deny them these rights just to keep the "geographical definition" alive, and not cater to their divine rights?

Also, I know you're Yoruba and a good student of Nigerian history. So, I'll ask you this questions: since Nigeria became a country, during what period did the Yorubas attain greatness and were on the path, to change the stigma associated with black Africa, when it comes to governance? And why were the Yorubas able to achieve this feat?
Oga Shymex, Please read my post again!

I never said "it cant" function properly!
I said "It is not" functioning properly as it should
Both dont connote the same thing, l am sure you are aware because l know you are a very brilliant person.

...and again, l gave a "broad and general definition" of a country because l took your question at "face value".
It has nothing to do with Awolowo (his words l think were "geographical expression".... that is not what l said.

Now, to the main substance of your post:

Again, l answer your questions directly:
*Yorubas attained their greatest during the ear of "Regional Govt" when Awolowo as Premier of the Western region, developed the West and we were the envy of other regions because we excelled over and above others in all areas (my Ibo brothers will tell you that we excelled in material resources because we stole their money they left behind when they try to secede or that we excelled academically because we stopped them from getting good education or we got our resources because they developed Lagos due to its being a Federal capital! grin grin ).

The second part of your question: Yorubas were able to achieve this feat because we were able to develop at our own pace.....without being bogged down by those who dont want to "develop" or had other things on their mind or as their priority.

Now, take note: We did all these even as a part of the nation Nigeria... not because we secede or revolted against the Federal govt!

I will agree this much, "True Fiscal federalism" is the solution to Nigeria's problem .... not breaking into parts through secession, as the Ibos would want it.

Let me draw your attention to the fact that as it is today, it will be "an act of excessive greed" for the Ibos to chose to secede..... taking the South-South with them.
They could ask for "Regionalism" where like in the early 60's, each region will develop at its own pace.

If crude Oil is not the main-stay of Nigeria's economy, with Nigeria investing a lot of resources to get it to the point it is TODAY, then maybe this agitation for secession would be worth considering.

If the Ibos are not greedy and truly feel secession is what they want, ask them if they are ready to do it with their "five core Ibo states" ...without drawing the South_South Minorities into it.
In that way, Nigeria's "dependent resources" wont be affected ... and the South -South people wont be dragged into a Biafra most of them dont want to be a part of. This is REALITY!

But l tell you, if you remove those "oil rich' states from their agitation, you will find out that their agitation will simply die "a natural death"!
grin
How on earth can five states say they want to take what belongs to the whole country and arrogate it to themselves.... all in the name of self determination?
I dont even want to go into the merits and demerits of this secession.

Good analogy!

Now my own reading of the same example is pure cowardice. If the west stood up and challenged the north for once instead of the greed for presidency which still bastardized the country and left things the same, leaving us all cities not this quagmire.

You are right, the Igbo would have reacted differently.
You are still missing the point here!

We Yorubas dont believe in "aggression as a means to an end".

This is where we are different from the Ibos.

We believe more in "Use of Brain power" to resolve issues, after-all, after the "fight-fight", you will still have to come and "discuss" to solve the problem.
And we have the RESULTS TO PROVE IT, in the last 55 years of Nigeria's independence! kiss kiss

Look at it this way: When Animals disagree over territory, its a "fight to death and the stronger has to kill the weaker one, to stay alive".
But as evolved "higher animals", man has learnt to set-up institutions to "deliberate and find solutions" to the same type of territorial issues... instead do behaving like wild animals.

The ability to resolve issues without recourse to "base, animalistic mentality" is a sign of "sophisticated, cranial development"....(look at America made up of over 50 states (like 50 countries), yet it is able to resolve its electoral disputes (even outright rigging as in Al Gore, unlike some African countries like East Africa, Ivory Coast, Liberia which will destroy each other over the same thing)

You will agree with me that this is a symptom of "being evolved and sophistication".

NB: you have insulted me a few times but l have taken the pains to respond to you in a "civil manner" to still buttress my point that we are "genetically different ....and miles-apart"!
That is why l am Yoruba.... and you are Ibo

He's not a fool - he's an intelligent uncle. I'm sure trying to get his perspective.

And I believe he'll respond with something intelligent
Shymm3x: Sir, let's take Kanu, the timing of the agitation, and the mentality/emotions of the average Igbo out of the equation. Let's look at Nigeria with a clear mind - do you actually believe Nigeria is a country and it can function properly like a country? You answer would be the premise for my next post.

Err...sometimes, it isn't always about the messenger and timing of an event. It's about grabbing an opportunity whenever it presents itself - hence folks will always tell you to be ever ready cos you never know when the opportunity will come.
Bros Shymex,

Nigeria is a country ... by geographical definition. It is recognised as a country, by the United Nations and it is soveriegn.

can it ("Is it" ...........is quite the correct way to put it) functioning "properly" like a country?
The answer to that is "No".

It has challenges, huge ones for that matter! from corruption to mal-administration, e.t.c.

NB: I have deliberately avoided mentioning that Nnamdi kanu and the many cogent questions l raised earlier... so that we can get a handle on this discussion because like l said, "timing is of essence", in any struggle.

NEXT..?

Truth hurts...sooo bad and it is difficult to swallow! undecided undecided

Just for example, look at how Yorubas were able to "manage" their loss during the "MKO Abiola annulled election" (by a Northerner in person of Ibrahim Babangida), ......to the point of "immediately" producing a two-time Yoruba President, and now a Vice President and most likely the next President...
....and you will get what l mean when l say they are "sophisticated"
.

That is not boasting, it is just pointing out the obvious. kiss kiss

Now, imagine if MKO Abiola and what happened to him were to be of the Ibo race, l am sure, just as you are, that the outcome will be totally different, basically they will come out of it completely ruined, if they even come out at all.

That is the difference between the two races.

And I am hundred percent certain biafra will never be different from the rest of Africa. Likewise oduduwa republic or the north. if this igbos could come out like this for Nnamdi Kanu, defying rain and police brutality, why couldn't they do the same for their governor? Why couldn't they do the same for their senators, why couldn't they do the same for their local government chairman? Those are the people representing them. Those are their voices, those are the people who could have made life better for them, this same youths would see their governor tomorrow and hail them. Would go and beg for common borehole from their local government chairman and councillors. How do u rationalise this?

Isn't something wrong wiv the black mindhuh
These are a very cogent questions .....for "discerning minds"!

*Why did IPOB not raise this kind of "hell", when they have a better chance of achieving results, (under Jonathan)?
*Why did Nnamdi kanu not "air" his Radio Biafra treasonous statements, so loudly, under GEJ, when he would probably recieve a "warm reception"?

*Why did the Ibos not show this kind of 'anger' at their Chairmen and Governors, who "collect and loot" their share of the National cake? Yet they waste their energy on Fashola, Governor of Lagos!

*WHY NOW? When a Northerner is the President... and a Westerner is the Vice President?

A lot of people are asking these same questions!

A "school of thought" examines these issues critically and came to the conclusion that"

"Ibo agitations are primarily driven by hatred (of the Yorubas), rabid Anger (at the Hausas), "sense of".. and a "plot for" vengeance (towards the Yorubas), Hypocrisy (towards and within their own tribesmen), mischief (at the whole polity, to cause mayhem) and a sense of weakness/failure (for under-achieving, within the Nigerian political spectrum).

Thus, such agitations are not only bound to fail as they are based on "non-altruistic and emotional premise", such agitations are viewed with suspicion, by everyone else and therefore not taken seriously.

This is a honest assessment, from someone on "the other side" of the divide but then, l wont expect any Ibo person to agree with it because that would be an admission of failure...something which "Ego and Self-pride cum self-delusion", will not permit, .....qualities which the Ibo persona has in very high dosage. undecided

My Take.

Just look at how they agitate for "Biafra", then fight for appointments with Buhari, then claim Lagos belongs to them, then say they want to buy the South West, then run-away from their homeland, then want to form "attachee" with South-South due to their crude oil, then come over to contest for election, even in the South West, then claim to be Israelites even though Natenyahu has said Israel has nothing to do with them!.... blah-blah-blah!!!

The Govt should address the issues and work towards True Federalism..Corruption is not helping Matters..This Biafra of a thing is fast gaining attention and the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu aint helping matters

Everything is not Federal Govt!

As a matter of fact, what the STATE (State Govt and Local Govt) takes from the National Cake, is bigger than what accrues to the Federal Govt, per state!

We are focusing too much attention on the Federal govt while neglecting the "Big Criminals"... who are the State Government and Local govt Chairmen who just collect and steal their allocations!

Imagine if all "Street Roads" which are the responsibility of Local govt, are tarred and well laid with Gutters?
Imagine if the State Government compliments this with Major Roads in the state, well tarred and supported with proper drainage?

You think if this is done, anyone will remember we even have or need a federal govt?

The point l am making is that until we Nigerians remove this "federal Govt" tribalism and bigotry from our mindset and start stoning these Governors and especially the LGA chairmen, until, then, we will just continue to suffer and go round in circles.

STEP 1

STEP 2
Withdraw your kinsmen who are public office holders e.g

STEP 4
Endeavour to reject Federal Allocation. u re very industrious

STEP 5
Stop all form of importation through the Nigerian sea port
so that Nigeria will crumble without ur Tax
STEP 6
Recall all your sons and daughters from all parts of Nigeria
to relocate to home untill this fight is over then Nigeria can
beg them to come back as expatriate
STEP 7
Lock up all ur shops in idumota, Alaba international, Kano
main market, and every other market even in the remote
villages accross the country.
STEP 8
Go beyond closing of the Niger bridge stop all Nigerians
from buying or selling in Onitsha Main market or Ariaria
market in Aba.
STEP 9
Make sure u make ur Visa very hard for Nigerians.
STEP 10
This fight can be achieved without Violence just like south

Why didn't you go to court?
Relax, ...."in the fullness of time", he will have his day in court.

You just dont wake-up one day and head to court because you are angry.

You gather evidence, plan your strategy, block possible "escape routes", e.t.c

Otherwise, these criminals have amassed enough loot to hire the best SANs/Lawyers, bribe "corrupt" Judges who will do everything to frustrate the case and have it thrown out on one technicality!

Barcanista, you suppose know all these small-small things now........ or are you just trying to justify your "Pay"?

Obanikoro: “The exit of my aide @MrFixNigeria from my party means that this account is no longer managed by him – it is a task he performed well.

“I wish him well in both his personal and political future and hope that @tessloconcepts will continue to make sharp suits for me.
In other words, when you see a stewpid Severeussnake, Chukwudi44 or Barcanista spewing rubbish on behalf of Obanikoro, he could be any of @MrFixNigeria or the current one @tessloconcepts! and probably many anonymous ones we may not even know ...

NB: I noticed that all women on this thread, are siding with the Aproko woman while men are siding with the "Slap-Manager" man?

So, it is now a war between men and women,... not "logical reasoning" anymore?

Duntoye deserve that minimum slap.Wish the man flog the useless lady join.No wonder she neva married. As for Mrs oluokun, get ready to pack ur luggage to ur papa house.I dnt see the man forgiven her for dis.
That is how some women use their mouth to destroy their friends home!

Imagine! Husband she nor get.... her friend that has husband, she has now destroyed their home?

I hope any woman wey get sense they "see-through" this yaawa?

As for the Title of the thread, it is very misleading:

1.) the man was not jailed. Remand and Jail are two different things. @Op is likely an illiterate self-servicer.

2.) He was remanded in prison "PENDING" the perfection of his bail conditions.

All he need do is get his Lawyer to stand for him and perfect the Bail-bonds.... and out he goes till the next hearing.

If l were that man, l will have charged that lady with "Stealing" from my house because l will arrange that money or Gold chain is missing.
In fact, l will accuse her of asking me to sleep with her. "Do me, l do you, God nor vex".
If she agrees that she came into my house when l slapped her, then she has to explain how she was not responsible for what went missing.

Attack is always the best form of defence.

The statement coming from the dss doesn't make sense...... If you have additional charges against him them seek the leave of the court instead of turning to gate men at his residents
Dont be so daft!

if the Police invite you for questioning.... and you refuse to attend, WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL FOLLOW, IF NOT TO ARREST YOU?

I guess some of you think because he was former NSA.... or was GEJ's right hand man used to attempt to scuttle the last election, he is above the law!

Well, guess you are wrong.

Those who have nothing to hide, always respond to Police invitation.

That Weapons import scam needs to be properly probed.

Dansuki should cooperate.
