So he's the one that didn't embarrass her with his public spectacle? If I were a girl, proposing publicly despite knowing me is enough to make me decide I don't want anything to do with you anymore.
It's highly manipulative to try to pressure her into saying yes by putting her on the spot in front of people and cameras.
Bottom line is, know your partner and don't expect them to go out of their way just so your inconsiderate ass does not get publicly embarrassed by your own thoughtless actions. Very well said! Nothing more to add.... |

The guy may even have messed up recently, and is trying to redeem himself, by proposing publicly, hoping the girl will overlook his shenanigans and fall for him again. Who knows? duni04: Hollywood movies are really turning people's minds upside down in this country. Why on earth do you need to propose to someone on the street or in a crowded place? Can't you sit down at home and look your woman in the eyes and explain to her why you want to marry her? Why do you have to embarrass someone into saying yes to you? Complete nonsense! All these Instagram and Twitter boys please chill out o. And he called camera men to record the scene, o! Can you imagine his stuvpidity?? YoungAncient1: All these nonsense sef. Don't these people discuss marriage in their relationships at all? Why make a public spectacle of themselves with this charade of public proposal? I wonder, o! Before deciding to do a public proposal, shouldn't you have had serious conversations with the girl, about the direction of your relationship? Or where you both see yourselves in each other's lives, in the next few years? The answers you get will determine how serious both of you are, with that relationship. |

She could've accepted his proposal out of pretense, pressure, or to save him from embarrassment, but her candidness in declining and walking away will do both of them good in the long run as they move on w| their lives. Exactly! The guy didn't take out time to know what was in the girl's mind, before he even proposed. Before embarking on this kind of step, both of you would have done in-depth research on your feelings for each other, and if possible, outline your plans for the future. He was obviously so full of himself, and so sure of the response he thought he was going to get, because he believed she would not say no, which was why he staged that proposal. Such a silly kid! lonelydora: Dear Kings,
Before you embark on public act, make sure you have ticked all your checklist on your girl. Ask her questions on any part of the relationship you don't understand, it will help you to know if she will say YES or NO.

How can you do a public proposal, without having a solid idea of what the girl's reply is likely to be? If both of them had taken time out to hold conversations about their future, or map out plans on how they intend to stay together in the next few years, then he would have known what her answer would be, if he proposed. And he would have avoided this kind of humiliation! I don't blame the girl, because nothing compels her to say yes, in public. She did not hold a gun to his head, to force him to propose. DeOTR: Nobody asked the Fulanis to help with security in Ondo State. If anything, the OPC is sufficient. The Fulanis can't know Ondo state better than the indigenes, so you can't draw a parallel lines between Civilian JTF whose members are Northerners and Fulani Vigilantes in Ondo state. The police already made it clear that no Vigilante group is allowed to carry arms, so I wonder why Fulanis are doing same. These are the same people who have been killing and kidnapping people along that axis. Thank God the Governor already gave an order for them to be flushed out. Anyone seen carrying arms on the highway anywhere in Yorubaland in the guise of being a member of Fulani vigilante group will be killed summarily henceforth. Guys, I believe more info is needed about the activities of this set of Fulani vigilantes, before anyone can vilify them. Are they there to protect the herders of cattle owned by the Fulani cattle owners? Or are they just there to attack cattle rustlers? Or are they present in that locality, to protect innocent villagers from being harmed, by preventing those renegade killer herdsmen among them, from going on rampage across the local SW communities, under the guise of avenging the theft of their cattle? More answers are needed. Why couldn't the Fulani vigilantes have carried out their patrol activities, in conjunction with the OPC or SW hunters association? It would have made more sense My Yoruba teacher used to say that " you send the son of a fire, to the owner of the fiery flame itself "See, if you have ever fallen victim to killer Fulani herdsmen, you will seek salvation from anyone who can rescue you from them, even if he is the 1st cousin of a Fulbe, no matter what tribe you come from. My dad's neighbour has a first cousin who was abducted along with 3 others on the Lokoja-Abuja expressway, over 5 months ago. She has not been found till date, along with the other people in her vehicle. If a Fulani vigilante gang offers to rescue her right now, do you think anyone in her family would say No?? McDoe: Nigerians with fish brains will now be singing his praises to high heavens.
One thing I understood about Nigerians is that if you steal the billions and lavish some thousands in the guise of philanthropy, you become a messiah of some sort.
No wonder we are still in deep slumber. Yeyenatu
Otedola stole billions of our oil money in the name of subsidy. He lavished the money to shut the mouth of the judiciary. He now globe-trots and feel big. And in our psaltry state, he is Nigeria's billionaire of repute Abeg, keep qwayiet dia! If you have proof that he stole millions through subsidy, why not sue him to court, or report him to the police? After Otedola tried importing fuel a few years back, and lost money in the process, he had to sell part of his shares to Mercuria Energy for 200 million dollars in order to pay off the banks. He then stopped importing fuel, and only got fuel for his stations after receiving NNPC allocations, like every other oil marketing firm. So which subsidy claim could he have made when he was not importing fuel any longer, but just getting his due allocations from NNPC, after paying upfront like all other oil firms? AMCON bought over his loans in 2015, but cleared him after the money was fully paid back with the cash he got from Mercuria. AMCON did not come back again to take over his assets to show he is a chronic debtor, so what are you talking about? I don't know of any bank that has come out since then, to say Otedola is still owing them. The man is now using his wealth to help people in pain and sickness, yet you are still criticising his efforts. How many people have you helped to get adequate medical care, by paying their bills? Pray to God, that you never develop any ailment that drains you physically and financially. If that happens, you will run from pillar to post, seeking an angel to bail you out. If God does not send you one in the shape of an Otedola, only goodness knows what will happen. |

In your own case , it seems the widow wasn't part of the executors maybe that's why she's filing caveat after caveat. Getting the letter can be tiring if the probate staffs ain't relating well . I got the letter before six months maybe because it was Lagos high court sha . Good luck The wife was not one of the executors, because they were in the middle of a divorce case, before the man died. She didn't even know he had a will, so she disputed it's validity when it came to light. The probate registry is a very busy place, and you need to go from one office to another to submit different documents and follow up. Most of the time, the probate staff are too busy to even attend courteously to your enquiries, except you are willing to tip them quite well. So I guess you are one of the lucky ones. |

AdeOracle: Like the person said , you don't need service of a lawyer. I have a letter of administration from probate registry Lagos high court ikeja . Liaise with the staffs in the probate and they will take you through filling the form . Once form is filled and the fee is calculated, payment is made via bank draft . Afterwards its published in the newspaper, once it's ready you get the letter . Main things needed is fill the forms well, get 2 sureties/ referees and you are good to go Good luck to you. I have not said that it is impossible, just that I have not met anyone who filed their application without the help of a lawyer. I also gave instances where legal advice could be needed, in case a caveat was filed by another party. If a caveat was filed, how would the staff of the probate registry have handled it? Just curious. I was nominated as one of the executors of my friend's will, 5 years ago. Till date, we have not been able to do much, because his widow keeps filing one caveat after the other. Thank God, the other executors are all lawyers and they have been able to deal with the issue. |

Nbote: D process doesn't necessarily require a skilled lawyer or their inputs... Lawyers will ask for a percentage of all of d deceased assets including bank balance, properties and pension... All d person needs to do is to visit d Probate department of any state High court And ask for all d requirements. Anyone can actually get it done demselves... I'm currently processing my Dad's and I know a couple of persons who also processed theirs Maybe there are some people who can do all the process from start to finish, without any errors. But I am yet to meet them. Not in the Lagos Probate Registry in GRA Ikeja. If there are errors in filling the forms, the application can be rejected in the probate registry. If anyone files a caveat against the application, then you need to know the next step to take in order to get the caveat lifted. And you would definitely need expert legal advice, in this area. Some lawyers do not collect a percentage of the value of the deceased's assets. Some will just request for a flat fee, which might not been so high. It all depends on the lawyer in question, and the kind of relationship you have with him or her. |

Duggedised12: too bad. But isn't banks supposed to contact the next of kin after the account is dormant for some time? . I ask this because access called me on one of my dormant account to find out why i wasn't funding the account anymore. No sir. There is no obligation on the part of the bank to contact you, if your account is dormant. The only thing a few banks do, is to assign some dormant accounts to new recruits/ hires, in their quest for funds, or in their strategy to meet their targets. Those new officers could then call you to reactivate your account, especially if that account was formerly witnessing a high turnover of funds, before it became dormant. Secondly, if there was any suspicious activity on your dormant account like someone trying to make a withdrawal from it, this could prompt them to get in touch with you, to confirm if you were behind that activity. But other than these reasons, no bank will contact you in respect of a dormant account in Nigeria |

Cc: Laudate. You nailed it! Wonderful job. Well done. The only part that I think should be included, is that the family/next-of-kin/administrators should engage a skilled lawyer to do the filing of the application with the probate registry. They would also need 2 guarantors (preferably with landed properties) to fill some documents, to support their application to the probate registry, before the letter of administration can be issued. |
